Elden Ring Launch Edition (PS5)
The Golden Order has been broken. Rise, Tarnished, and be guided by grace to brandish the power of the Elden Ring and become an Elden Lord in the Lands Between.
ELDEN RING, developed by FromSoftware Inc. and produced by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc., is a fantasy action-RPG and FromSoftware’s largest game to date, set within a world full of mystery and peril.
STORY OUTLINE
In the Lands Between ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal, the Elden Ring, the source of the Erdtree, has been shattered.
Marika’s offspring, demigods all, claimed the shards of the Elden Ring known as the Great Runes, and the mad taint of their newfound strength triggered a war: The Shattering. A war that meant abandonment by the Greater Will.
And now the guidance of grace will be brought to the Tarnished who were spurned by the grace of gold and exiled from the Lands Between.
Ye dead who yet live, your grace long lost, follow the path to the Lands Between beyond the foggy sea to stand before the Elden Ring.
And become the Elden Lord.

If you had a choice; two family deliveroos or months/years of amazing fun, excitement and entertainment
Whatcha gonna do? Tell your tum tum it’s boiled noodles and a couple o’ slices bread and go on your most exciting fantasy adventures. Not only is it huge gaming excellence, you’ll consume far less calories! Yeah!
The game, ftitk, needs no introduction. If you’re unsure. go watch some YouTube videos of it.
The extra artwork & goodies really top this off beautifully.
I cannot say anything more than; if you’re into this sort of brilliance, it’s more than brilliant. If unsure, read reviews and watch videos. If that doesn’t convince you, maybe you need to buy a frisbee!
This game imo lives up to the hype. Unlike previous Souls games it does have many tools in the game to decrease the difficulty if you choose to use them (Ashes of War, summons etc)
I’ve put 90 hours in and haven’t completed it yet (stuck on Malenia but she is an optional boss)
It’s nothing to do with LOTR like I thought it was. It’s a good game but you heavily need friends and multiplayer to get through it . It’s ok , the graphics are amazing but it’s just a free roam game with a complex storyline you get lost in. 7/10 for me on the one not the best game I have played but it passes time.
I was excited for horizon forbidden west before it came and with Elden I was like meh I’ll try it played 20 hours of horizon over a week before this came and loved it then elden ring got delivered put it in to install and try and my god it absolutely took my soul away ( no pun intended ) I totally forgot about horizon and just played this day, night a total of 80hours in 2-3 weeks. Worth mentioning I suffer with extreme depression I find it hard to get into a games now playing elden ring helped for a time and have a lot to thank from software for it world it gameplay loop is addictive it’s difficulty is more than fair as a newbie and a person that terrible at soulsborne games I completed it in 80 hours while others took longer because I took advantage of its systems and mechanics that make it easier but still hard enough to feel every death and every success.
At the start it was a bit confusing and annoying but after I started to explore the better it became and now this is one of my favourite game.Definitely recommend this game
What an epic game. I found it to be the ideal introduction to From Software’s games. A lot of (unwarranted) criticism about it being too difficult or too long. The best tip for playing, as said by many, embrace death and failure as much as a game mechanic as the combat itself and settle in for a truly memorable journey.
I want to start off by saying negative reviewers hopefully will give this title another go after this review.
At first when playing thought I don’t want to spend hours and hours sitting building my character up, suddenly the addiction happened!!!!!
After a massive +300 hours of my life with an Elden Ring Addiction I am still in the process of getting through the title. I was shocked at spending vast amounts of time still finding new locations, building the character from novice to a sensible standard is extremely time consuming. But there is the addiction to get there due to the extremely hard Boss fights.
Being a big fan of Demon Souls I have to commend the title, similar ethics but more depth. Please, please negative reviewers go back and try again. I hope the disappointment is over, or maybe the genre leaves you distant. Anyway another positive review from a very satisfied purchaser, hoping for another Bloodborne or Sekiro soon for the PS5.
Elden Ring was my first ‘Souls’ type game. I had no intention of buying it but after seeing every man and his dog playing it on YouTube I decided to give it a try. I’m very pleased that I did! I’ve now amassed over 300 hours playtime and don’t think I’ll be putting it down any time soon. It can be tough and often you won’t have a clue where to go but persevere. There’s plenty of guides on YouTube if you get totally stuck. I’ve seen plenty of comments online saying it looks like a PS3 game. I found the graphics to be beautiful. I love the art style. This is by far my favourite game since Breath of the Wild. I’d even go as far as to say I enjoyed this more.
Just finished and “wow”. This might be the best game I have ever played. It took me 160hrs and I would guess that there are at least 50 hrs of gameplay that I haven’t touched.
The game is rich in lore and story, though in classic From style it is not spoon-fed to you.
There are a couple of bosses that are a bit too difficult in my view. Ones that are able to kill you with multiple hits that it is impossible to escape from. But honestly, it isn’t enough to say the game isn’t a phenomenal experience from start to finish.
I genuinely do not understand how they were able to fit so much gameplay, world and lore into this game. Its crazy.
I’m a first generation gamer that started with 8-bit home computers/consoles. Needs to be something special these days to get my attention and Elden Ring is exactly that. Best sense of achievement ever when myself and then later my teenage daughter completed it. One skill level set perfectly for all ages and all play styles. Use extreme skill, grind/explore to high level or something in between.
What a time to have lived, started playing on a Phillips Odyssey 2 on a 12 inch Black & White TV….to….PS5 Elden Ring on a 65inch OLED.
Having played all souls games including blood borne and sekiro, this is right up there with the best.
Wow, what an amazing game! Absolutely massive and one the hardest games I’ve ever played. Infuriating at times! But well worth it.
This is probably one of the best games of 2022. I was never a fan of the previous ones due to the linear play style. However this is totally open world and is massive. At times it is mega infuriating, then you level up and its great; then you open a new area and its a big challenge again. Recommend to all.
Remember when games felt tough, but with perseverance you found you were able to beat the challenge defeat the boss or make the jump? Elden Ring revisits this philosophy, where charging in and bludgeoning everything to death isn’t always going to pan out for you. Its as beautiful as it is brutal, many a heart stopping moment has been punctuated by an exclamation of “F’ you game” when my attempts to take the last swing at an enemy have been met by a surprise attack and my own death. It is unforgiving, and doesn’t offer anything for free the game is all about discovery and forging your own path. You can learn the lore of the land or do the bare minimum and are rewarded proportionally. I’ve certainly got the hours worth of enjoyment out of it and I’m not anywhere near done.
Got this a couple of weeks after release, have clocked about 80hrs of gameplay so far and still haven’t completed it! The world is huge and there is little direction as to where you should go, every enemy you meet is capable of killing you and the story is completely baffling but despite all this Elden Ring is brilliant and deserves your attention. After many hours and even more deaths if you keep at it you will eventually find your groove, start to level up and discover why this is such an amazing game. I’ve played online so far which means you can summon in other players to help with difficult bosses but also means you can get invaded by players who want to kill you. This can be annoying at first but as you level up it also adds a sense of challenge that is pretty unique as you never know when you might get tested. The graphics are decent and playing it on a PS5 has been an enjoyable experience so far, I haven’t really noticed the occasional frame glitch or pop up which so many people have moaned about. If you are prepared for a challenge and willing to invest a huge chunk of your time then it’s an awesome experience which I would recommend, just don’t get too down about dying (a lot!)
From Soft have done something remarkable here. It is an Open World game that has no objective markers. No Sage to guide you. No hand holding or easy mode. Monsters will appear from nowhere and kill you in 2 hits, for absolutely no reason other than THATS what they do.
It’s also, imho, the greatest game ever made. it WILL kick your butt, you WILL come back for more. There is just an unbelievable pull with this game, that makes you get right back at it to kill the damned boss that has been stomping you for 4 hours straight. Because YOU WILL kill it this time.
Game design is superb. Boss fights are incredible dance acts of timing and luck and sheer bloody mindedness. You have the choice to over level to make it easier. Except it doesn’t really.
So many bosses. So much content.
It is, by far, a One Of A Kind experience.
Seriously, you are not playing it yet?????
Best game I have played in years. Tough but fair. Can’t see how it won’t be goty for 2022!
In short, buy i
Another great game from FromSoftware. Highly recommend it if you’re into the Soulsborne games.
NG+ 3 Stars, first play through 5 stars, so ill give it 4, and here’s why… Started a New Game +, just the other day, after c200hrs gameplay – GRINDING mostly – and having put all that leg work in, I found it quite disappointing to see that upon most enemies being more easily dispatched, there’s not a lot going on in the Lands Between. I was shocked at how easy it was to blow through a second time around. Took about 10 hours, less than that actually, making it quite a horrible thing to realise that this means my original playthrough amounted to 190 or so hours of nothing but grinding and struggling to get round certain bosses, rinse and repeat, time and time again! It made me wonder if those ridiculously hard, cheap-shotting enemies, serve only to divert your mind away from just how empty the land is, when it’s all said and done. You may come to feel differently about it if into PVP, which I’m not, but as far as the game itself, and it’s story is concerned, it genuinely feels like those bosses are little more than a mechanic to enable the game to hide what it’s otherwise lacking. You get these massive feelings of relief when you’ve beaten something particularly testing, something blocking the entrance to the next key area, getting a genuine sense of achievement on account of a thing being so damned hard to push through, but once those challenges die down, there really isn’t a lot going on here. The story is lacking. You might want to avoid this altogether if prone to game rages!
Huge game and best souls game to be released for a while. You get your money worth with this
Such a fantastic game. One of the best I’ve ever played.
If you like sandbox games, or fantasy games, or games with intrigue, games that reward curiosity, or games that punish you only to then reward you for persistence. If you like games that include awe inspiring world design or massively varied ways of playing, then this is the game for you.
Rarely do titles live up to their hype. Elden Ring does, and then some.
This is easily one of the best games of all time. One play through took me around 150 hours. And I STILL didnt do everything the game has to offer.
Incredible art, visuals and epic score. It’s been a while since a game has offered such a sense of wonder accompanying a challenging experience what rewards even the slightest wins the game offers.
Journey to the Lands Between and rise as a Tarnished Emboldened by the Flames of Ambition! Will you uphold the golden order or usher in the age of the stars! Whatever you decide to do makes sure you “don’t Give up Skeleton!”
Adventure unparalleled awaits in this Legendary masterpiece by From Software!
One of the best from softwares games to date. Very easy to sink multiple hours into.
Stunning visuals and deep lore as always and so much replayability. You can’t help but discover new things exploring the same areas it’s such a vast world. I highly reccomend to any rpg fan or souls player to give this a try
First time playing a Souls game but knew they were difficult. Took some getting used to but once you’re in the swing of things and understand the mechanics it’s becomes such a joy. Yes it can get frustrating at times but it’s been fun. Completed it last night and wish it wouldn’t end. Definitely one of the best games I have played. It’s just so good in almost every way, and does so many things right, I can’t really fault it. You’ll need to do some digging and read in game text to get the story, but apparently that’s the Souls formula, not to soon feed. Not to be missed.
Great game, best one I’ve ever played couldn’t stop playing
This is my first soul’s like game. I am typically someone who’d rather stick 10s of hours into shmups than going through some story driven open world borefest, but I got caught up in the hype and I’m really glad I did.
I am probably not playing it “correctly”. Avoiding the online, mostly. There’s just no pressure to push you along and I’m happy for this game to just go on forever. There’s so much in the world.
I cannot be arsed with lore and I can last about a minute watching some guide before getting overloaded. There really is no rush. It would be nice if I didn’t have to look up things like “sleep pots are effective against godskin apostles” but if that’s the price for not having some sidekick ushering you along some quest then I’ll happily take it.
The best game i have ever played and most addictive.
Credit to the devs for not having any micro transactions in game.
Absolutely amazing game, highly recommend even if you’re not a souls player.
Really enjoyable, but challenging game. However as a “40+” gamer who hasn’t enjoyed Souls style games previously this is much, much more accessible. Huge open world, where you can come back later if you get stuck or cannot handle a boss.
Wonderful “just one more go” feel and excellent level progression itch.
If you liked Skyrim you will love this, 150 hours+ and it’s still great.
This is by far one of the best games I’ve played want to see and do everything in the game still on my first play through (just taking my time and enjoying the experience). At this moment I’m towards the end point of the game and at level 185 with over 200hrs and I cant wait for my 2nd play through. So far 6 endings have been found and I plan to see them all. If your thinking should I buy this then the answer is yes! Is the game hard No, not really the first area is a little challenging but you just need to spend some time leveling and learning the controls anything that you can’t do at that moment in time can be done later and when compared to other From software titles I’ve put this at a 3/10 for difficulty
This game is simply immense. Sprawling landscapes packed with things to discover and find.
Deep lore, that is buried beneath the surface.
And varied and interesting combat system. Highly recommended.
As someone who’s only experience of soulsborne games was the first ten minutes of bloodborne before giving up I bought this expecting to be equally frustrated and out of my depth but that wasn’t the case with Elden Ring. The open world format allows players like myself who aren’t as experienced with these games to familiarise themselves with the combat, exploration and lore without having to face the difficult bosses before they feel ready to do so. This is now one of my top games of all time and has inspired me to buy demon’s souls, dark souls and of course eventually give bloodborne another try. Highly recommend to everyone from casual gamers to those who have experienced all the fun and pain these games bring before. 10/10
fantastic game just got it for 37 quid on the PS5 BARGAIN got the game and sure u die a lot but the map is big lots of different enemies some easy to kill some a pain some will make u so mad …..youll quit the game ….but be back on it within hours lol its worth every penny
updates to buff nerf items items in game any exploits are also closed down too thanks to youtubers broadcasting it shame really …..so get it just when u think youve unlocked the map you find a life to another map …. yeah DLC stuff no…its in game ! but DLC is coming…. and its gonna be BIG
I’m a huge fan of FROM Software’s games and have completed each game numerous times. Whilst playing Dark Souls I would think to myself “wouldn’t it be great if they took this game with its unique concepts and mechanics and made it open world.” Well Elden Ring is that game. It succeeds in everything it set out to do although it has some balancing issues but despite that it is more accessible than previous games with a larger variety of options. If you get stuck, go somewhere else and come back later. You couldn’t do that in previous games as much.
Ignore most of the low reviews. They’re from people who misunderstand the game because they’re new to these types of games or they suck altogether and blame the game rather than themselves. These games are known for being difficult. If it’s too difficult for you, it’s not that the game sucks, it’s you that sucks. That’s fine, it’s simply not the game for you.
This game in my opinion is a 10/10. It’s not made for everyone but for people like me who it IS made for… I love it and is a monumental achievement. It is now my favourite Souls games alongside Bloodborne.
Not my usual kind of game, but wanted to give it a try; I’m glad I did, really enjoyed it!
Great value for money, great game and included several games related posters.
I can’t comment on the game itself, as this was bought as a gift for my boyfriend. So this review is purely on the product itself.
The game arrived the day after I ordered it, and came without the woven patch. But to be honest I just bought this version because it was cheaper than any other retailer, so any extra art/stickers that came with it was a bonus for me.
The game installed on the PS5 in no time at all, and my boyfriend was making his character within an hour of putting the disc in the console.
The game was in English, as I’ve seen a lot of people worry that because it’s from the Czech Republic it would be in Czech. Along with this, the PS5 isn’t region locked so the game works absolutely fine.
All in all, I have a very happy boyfriend. Which means this product gets a 5 stars from me!
Amazing game, I wasn’t previously into souls-like games but this is a great introduction.
The game play is really good, there’s a distinct lack of storyline and indications on what to do, you just kill stuff and level up and kill stronger stuff basically. It shouldn’t work but it’s compulsive.
The game arrived, sealed with all extras. The game itself is great, you will die a lot! Lol. If it was too easy it would be boring! It is hard in places but just means you have to level and maybe go back to these scenes. I’m 50 hrs in and enjoying it, the map is massive and still loads to do yet. I find this probably the best game out at the moment and is great value for money at 45 on the PS5….
If you like the souls games then this is up your street.
If the difficulty/repetition of the previous souls games made you have second thoughts, then I feel this one is a perfect jump on point. Overall, the game is much more new comer friendly and easier compared to other souls games owing to its open world design, and ability to level up easily enough.
I was always put off dark souls because of having to trek half a mile through adds to redo boss fights. Not the diffiiculty. And I stand by that its dumb. However with elden ring they have pretty much got rid of that so I tried it. And its an amazing game. The world is incredible and the exploration is very addictive and beautiful. The fights are so well done it would be difficult to go back to the pap you get in other games. Customisation is through the roof.
Regarding difficutly, yes its there, but you can play the game as more of a conventional RPG and go find stuff level up etc by which time they become more managable, In that respect you have some control over the level of difficulty you want, without putting in an easy mode.
The story is light and impressionistic rather than heavily story driven, and the characters are few and far between, , although memorable. The game is more about exploration, world, combat, customisation, and in these it excels
One of the best games going, if u want a challenge get it.
It’s like Skyrim, dark souls and Zelda breath of the wild where all combine togethe
Just brilliant. If your not a fan of the souls games then this is not for you. If however your like me and love Dark souls/Bloodborne etc this is a must have for your collection. I have been playing now for over a month and still finding new places to explore, new boss fights. Its simply beautiful. Fab game.
Prepare to die.
To some it’s a calling, to others it’s enough to strike fear.
For anyone familiar with Demon/Dark Or Bloodborne (Soulsbourne series) this game is not only a true return to form but a new outing for the series.
I’ll try and keep it condensed and concise like my other game reviews so here goes; TLDR at the bottom.
Elden Ring is first and foremost a soulsbourne title, so for those new to the series. Expect to die, a lot.
But don’t let this dissuade you.
Elden ring does a near perfect job of creating a tense but ultimately fun and addicting open world adventure filled with lots of different zones all beautifully designed and truly amazing to explore.
Across my time with Elden Ring I never felt unfairly treated or to burdened by travel.
Of course the entire experience from start to finish can be made both easier and more linear if you make use of a guide, which I recommend to some degree if new anyway.
So my first build was a dual build bleed, my second I succumbed to the temptation of mage and went full intellect! KABOOM is all I can say.
ER gives you an excellent platform to build a character to your liking, be it a huge two handed sword or mace or twin daggers, even sword and shield! The weapons are varied and have a slew to collect.
As you progress in game you earn runes for killing all types of enemies with bosses (varying types eg greater enemies and so on) granting you the most.
You then spend these on certain stats depending on your build, vigour for example increases health pool and so on for strength, intellect etc. again if new to the series I highly recommend watching some videos or reading up a short guide on what the stats do and how they’ll effect your character.
You’re offered a faster form of travel in the shape of a ram (animal) very early in the game which, you can then roam to your hearts content and to a degree get a lay for the land by unlocking the map. Again read up how to do this!
So without giving to much away, ER gives any player a nice sloping intro where the difficulty doesn’t ramp up to much until later game, even then, this title can be made as hard or as easy as you want just by spending some time grinding some runes to gain those levels.
Performance is beautiful on PS5, I’ve been using prioritise frame rate and it’s buttery smooth!
Some slight scaling issues at present for PvP but no doubt they’ll get sorted.
Graphics are gorgeous, lush environments which can look gorgeous or incredibly eerie.
Controls can seem clunky to those new but in my opinion this is the most refined they’ve felt!
All in all, 10/10 title which is well worth every penny with the sheer amount of content this game offers.
I brought this game as I wanted a challenge. I read the reviews and was prepared for it to be difficult.
First and foremost the game is stunning to look at. The game it vast and the scenery is very impressive.
The game is hard and button bashing gets you killed very quickly. I’ve fell into that hat habit a few times taking enemies for granted and it doesn’t work.
When you are new the best way is to avoid the enemies and bosses and grind against low level enemies. You will die often and this can be frustrating as you lost all your rune’s you need for levelling up.
Pick your fights and take your time and explore and the game somewhat becomes addictive in that you want to get more runes to try and level up. It’s a challenge and that’s what is appealing.
Just an incredible game. The most impressive part is how large the world is, there is so much to explore and do and travelling around never seems boring as everything is filled with things to do.
Of course it isn’t easy, of course it doesn’t hold your hand through the game and spoon feed you like most generic games.
THIS IS FROM SOFTWARE and it’s MAGNIFICENT.
If you’re stuck then do some research, level up and, most importantly . Git Gud
Top game. Second best ever to Witcher. Took me 188 to finish. Witcher 150. Not one moment was boring. Far from it. It was a rollercoaster all the way. A rollercoaster where you come off the tracks and die a lo
Dark Souls is probably my go-to series. The dark winding map full of treasures and secrets is unmatched.
You might think taking this concept and putting it in an open world would fall flat but you’d be wrong.
With so many dungeons to explore, so may bosses to face (over 230) and so much variety in character builds, this game will last a very very long time and offers fantastic value for money.
Im not a game reviewer, but for the standalone price the amount of content is massive.
Can’t recommend it highly enough, I spent 165 hours to get to the end game and now I’m going to new game+. It truly is a masterpiece and one I’m glad I bought.
Please buy Elden ring, it’ll be a semi steep learning curve but after the first 3 hours I bet you will be hooked.
Good luck
Best game I have played in years. If you love the Souls franchise then this game is everything you want!
Don’t buy it if your a casual gamer, you will most likely quit.
This game is a masterpiece, simply put, if you have the money and you’re even remotely interested. Buy it.
This game is arguably the hardest souls game but it’s also super forgiving to newcomers in the series thanks to a variety of optional bosses and open world fun.
Spending hours grinding just to be strong enough for a boss is tough but the game makes it super satisfying when you fell an enemy. And unlike Pokemon legends – the open world is stunning.
Enjoy!
