eufy Security Battery Video Doorbell Camera Kit with Chime, Wire-Free Doorbell with Wireless Chime, Wi-Fi Connectivity, 1080p Resolution, No Monthly Fees, 120-Day Battery, AI Detection, 2-Way Audio
Nice doorbell, easy to install work fine looks great battery doesn’t last as it says in discretion, I had to run a cable to install a socket behind the door for instant charge its fine now looks pretty.
Releasing pin is not strong enough to release the bell from its bracket very weak.
Still gets 5 stars
Good packaging . Arrived on time . Excellent bit of kit. Fantastic visuals . Make sure to by a cd sim card as it doesn’t come with it . Total bargain on black friday deal . Would highly recommend .
Having had a cheap video doorbell for a while that was pretty useless I decided to make a change and order the Eufy. The difference is like light and day. The old cheap one had a huge delay on it, often froze for no reason and sometimes just decided to log out of the app when I least expected it. Having had the Eufy for about a month or so I’m very very pleased with the decision I made to change. Doorbell ring and phone notification are almost instant and the app fires up rapidly to enable me to respond. I’ve pre-recorded several stock answers to play to people waiting at the door which is very handy. I work from home in a garden office and the main purpose of the doorbell was to enable me to receive deliveries. With the old cam the delivery man would often be long gone before I even got the notification which defeated the point. Battery life seems very good too but I’m not using motion detection because of the proximity of the pavement and passers by to our doorstep. I have a Hive cctv camera in my workshop that will be going obsolete at some point so given how happy I am with the Eufy doorbell I think I’ll be switching to Eufy cams for the rest of my security requirements too.
Was straightforward to attach base plate to door. Unit in black is attractive and looks fine on my Victorian door. Have to remember to charge it if you’re going to be away. Great to be able to control & monitor it from phone, and also i can monitor it from my echo show, and my tv. Chose this over the Ring as no subscription. Highly recommended.
his is a great video doorbell ! battery life is good although i had to set mine to people walking right up to front door as it was catching every one walking past front door & that would have drained the battery, my battery is on 90% & thats after 4 days but we have been playing around with it ? video footage is great, I just wish you could download some better doorbell sounds. DO NOT USE THE SCREWS THAT COME WITH THIS THEY ARE TERRIBLE !! i had to buy some different ones as the ones that come with this just snapped but over all i am very happy with this glad i got it .
Not easy to fit or take out for charging, if you have dexterity issues. Unable to get it to sync with my WiFi. Nothing to do with the product but my home WiFi setup. My friend in the US recommended it. A good product, if I can get synced.
It was easy to install and connect to the network. Although it has only been a in use a couple of weeks it seems to be working smoothly and as expected.
This suits me because I have Eufy cameras and they all work together. If you’re out and about it can be a bit slow to connect so you can talk to the postman etc but that might be the internet rather than this item. Mostly I do mange to speak to the caller. Picture and sound quality is good
This bell is brilliant and most importantly no monthly fees – easy to set up (buy a micro storage card – couple of quid) I am getting on in years and not technically gifted and even I could follow the set up instructions. It’s field of vision is excellent but obviously you need some sort of smart phone to download the app and view activations. The company are fantastic as I had a bit of a moan that the next day delivery didn’t happen . Much to my surprise at 8pm that night they responded apologising and gave me a 10 good will refund. The product turned up the next morning and it was the post offices fault not theirs. All round excellent service would definitely recommend
I bough this doorbell for my sins security, as he lives alone in a large house. I saw it advertised on the Gadget show. The doorbell has great quality video during the day and night vision is really great. The other great thing is you can watch your video recordings from the SD card, and its free no fee’s to pay to some company. It is easy to set up, and you can download the app and when someone calls or comes close to the vision distance you can set, you get alerted and you can see what’s happening, also speak to them. Also you can add extra cctv to protect all your house. I have bought one for myself, i highly recommend the doorbell.
I received this item very quickly. It was so easy to get it set up – the hardest bit was mounting it on the outside wall. As I’m in my 70’s I’m not used to using electric drills but, after one or two false starts I did it. The bell gives an excellent view of whoever is at the door and it gives me a sense of security. This doorbell was recommended to me by a female police officer who lives on the estate and has one – so if it’s good enough for the police – it’s good enough for me. The only annoying thing is it picks up anyone who walks past my house.
Absolutely brilliant, if you can afford the latest version then go for it, however I’m quite happy with this one and you must buy a micro SD card for the recordings.
This is very very good. Because the unit has its own storage it is much quicker than the similar one by a rival.
It’s also a better clearer camera. Five stars.
I added this to my house automation set up recently. It was very easy to install, thanks to the quick start instructions and the multimedia instructions in the App
It integrates well with other Eufy products in the App
It is quick and easy to use with a fast connection when using remotely
Omg. I LOVE this doorbell webcam! Its the best gadget iv ever bought! Honestly! I can clearly see who’s at the door before they even step foot out of the car, van, whatever it be. When the doorbells pressed I’m notified almost immediately on my phone. If I need a minute or 2 to answer the door I can talk through the microphone and ask them to wait.. I can even hear them replying back.. I did not expect that at all! 24/7 live surveillance… what more can you ask fo
It does what it says but is a bit slow to respond. My daughter was up the path and inside the front door before my phone rang. The postman had put post through door and turned to go before my phone told me someone was there. It could be the wi fi is slow, we’ll see.
Firstly it comes with a EU 2 pin plug which requires you to have an adapter to use with the UK plug socket it would have been nice if this had been supplied. I chose this for my sister as I have had a EUFY with homebase for over 2 years and have been happy with it. Set up of this one was a little more fiddly but once up and running worked fine. I can’t see the battery lasting as long as 120 days though. I will just end by saying it is compact and fulfils the purpose for which it was intended
This doorbell is very good and captures things at great quality. My only complaint is that a hydrogen atom could go past this motion sensor and it would set it off. Tried setting an activity zone for the sensor but it doesn’t work.
We’ve had the EUFY S200 VIDEO DOORBELL for 8 days now and I am honestly so impressed. It was so easy to set-up and has worked perfectly since installation with great picture, video and sound quality. No need for a monthly Cloud-subscription either as I’ve slotted a microSD Card into a slot in the Door Chime which, if necessary, I can download footage to a computer and save but I can also download a save clips to my Smartphone. I walk around the neighbourhood and I’m surprised that I hadn’t noticed how common security cameras are. My only regret so far, and it’s a tiny regret, is not buying the tower so I could add CCTV cameras around the rest of the house and garden but I will and I’m hoping it will be as simple as the Door Bell. Super impressed so far but it is still early days
After our ring doorbell stopped working i was on the look out for a replacement. this time with a separate “hub” that the doorbell connects to ( unlike the ring which connects directly to the router) took a bit of a punt on this one as it was on special offer at the time but really glad i did, the picture quality is great, and the option of local storage inside the chime means i no longer have a monthly subscription.
also there is no delay when someone comes down the driveway or rings the bell between the device detecting motion and my mobile / alexa / Chime alerting me. all in all – a great purchase
Generally good all round but found too many false motion detection triggers in poor weather, as a consequence battery life is reduced (2 months between recharges).
Took no time to set up and get working as no wiring to do. Front door one is on a busy street but doesn’t pick up the traffic going past. No subscription which is great, I would definitely recommend
Fantastic product. Relatively easy to set up. Strong clear pictures, alerts and ring. Nice to talk to delivery men and posty whilst out many miles away. Really good value. Night pictures clear
Considering buying more for other security in house
Amazing picture quality easy to set up and the app is amazing very responsive would 100% recommend to friends and family you can put micro sd card in the main device so also no need for cloud storage that you need to pay for but is option to if wanted
I purchased this item because I live in a first floor flat, with my door on the ground floor and regularly miss deliveries etc
This is great, not only does it ring when the bell is pressed but it also warns you if anyone comes near the door. Furthermore if you do not want cloud storage, there are no ongoing fees.
Before buy this product I was afraid for the batery life comment but it works perfectly without the unnecessary motion feature or recording 24/7. For me is enough only recording when there is an event (Someone ring the bell).
Another concern I had was the WiFi connectivity because I live in first floor apartment and the device is in the ground floor 2 meters away. Connectivity is perfect with EE conventional Internet Router. I didn’t have any connection issues. Also controlling the camera remotely when I’m outside.
More than happy with this produc
Bought the Eufy 1080p Doorbell with Chime in the Amazon Sale back in October and very happy with it. Easy to set up, fantastic picture quality in daylight, dusk and at night (which is black and white night vision). I debated whether to get the 4K model but decided against it and don’t regret it at all, picture quality of the 1080p is ample as you can see from the photo (taken at dusk here in Scotland in December with very little natural light) yet still very clear. Easy set up and glad we got the chime too (which acts as a storage for footage and a wifi boost for the chime, as we rely on 4G mobile broadband as no fibre in the street). The doorbell definitely has a slight delay but I think that’s a result of our internet set up. Charged to full battery end of October, and still over half charge left now in mid December which is great considering it goes off around 4-5 times a day and records a snippet of the movement. Beware of positioning and ensure you don’t have it against a wall as it will cause glare at night with the infrared – we used the angled mount to angle our doorbell which is great as it captures more of our porch. I almost went for the double-camera version to capture more of the porch area but the fish-eye lens does a good job of that on the single cam doorbell (the reviews for the double one weren’t so good either). We bought a 32gb SanDisk card to use in the chime. Overall very happy for the total cost of 76 including the SanDisk, Doorbell and Chime! No subscription fees are the best part unlike Ring!
Really like this doorbell and have personally recommended it to family and friends. Both my neighbour’s have purchased this after seeing mine. Has great features and usability, there are tons of cheaper ones out there but expect a terrible app experience.
the motion detection sensitivity/distance can be increased and decreased, a box can be drawn to set areas in which you want motion detection to only monitor and human check can be turned on.
the main selling point for me was that all my data is stored locally on and SD in the Chime. I can access is anytime and remove it from the chime. i have now also purchased the Eufy home alarm system too.
Product bought as a door bell unit, but watches over the whole drive area with an effective lens and a small plastic wedge to angle the camera inside the bell push. Could do with a user guide – maybe it’s on-line but I haven’t found it yet as only put it up a few days ago. Well worth the Black Friday price of 69.
One of the best camera doorbells you can get most of them you’ll have to pay a monthly subscription to save any footage, while this one is free and only requires a high quality SD card that can save the video for you.
Used to really like the door bell but after only about 4 months it’s not consistent in ringing when pressed and its failed to save new storage / overwrite old storage once the sd card was full. Fails to repair or reformat card now too so not sure what can be done to fix it…
Always had a slight delay in opening the app, wish the app would open quicker to see who is at the door. Not majorly long but long enough that not everyone waits at the door long enough for you to open the app and see who it is before answering.
Night vision tends to flick on and off during hours of darkness when motion detected. Every time it does this is isn’t the clearest image.
Unless it’s updated and fixes itself I couldn’t say I recommend.
EDIT:
Took a lot of playing around but after a full reset I got it working back to normal again. Still think the app is too slow to open though and sometimes it just fails to load so you end up answering the door without seeing the person anyway but this is unoften.
The other thing the battery is no where near as long last as advertized. I have to charge my doorbell every month.
EDIT: Anker reached out with troubleshooting options and a satisfaction guarantee. Very good customer services considering I didn’t contact them first.
Good price as you get everything with no hidden cost or subscriptions. App can be slow to connect at home but it seems quicker when away from home, which was odd. Camera misted up after just over a year, still usable but annoying.
Seems to work ok but doesn’t always pick people up at the front door frustratingly. The battery life is not as advertised already had to charge it after less then two weeks. We have altered the settings to reduce the battery life but not sure if it will help.
set up to app on phone easy and works well, linking to alexa on an echo 5 ok but alerts do not always happen alerts on phone app are pretty instant. Found it very sensitive to motion from people and cars passing property 25m away, still playing with alexa set up to get it more user friendly. The battery lasts about 3 weeks due to the number of recordings (50 – 70 a day) . Overall happy with doorbell, it does what it was intended for recording and alerting to people on driveway either delivering or so I can keep an eye on our vehicles. I have not used the facility to talk to people at the door but did check it worked well on installatio
I have this on my unoccupied property, which is brilliant as I can see a live feed anytime I want and get alerted whenever someone enters the drive or comes to the door. This gives me piece of mind and means I don’t have to go and check on the property every day. It is also a lot cheaper than getting CCTV installed!!
However, I am finding the motion detection is too sensitive even on its lowest setting and set to human only detection, as it picks up lorry’s driving past my property at night. I think it is the bright lights of the lorry’s that it detects, perhaps Eufy could work on a software update to fix this?
Another feature I feel it misses is it alerts me even when I go to the front door, surely this can be fixed by not alerting me when my phone is within a certain distance of the door?
Overall a very good product at a bargain price for what it offers.
Easy to set up. Does what it says. I’m able to choose activity zones so it doesn’t pick up everyone walking past. You can also adjust the sensitivity and I did have to play around with this as it didn’t pick up people leaving the door consistently. No problems now though. Battery did drop from 100-90% in the first night which worried me but only used 5% in 7 nights after this. Doubt the battery would last 4-6 months like advertised though . I like that it connects to our Alexa devices so it announces when the doorbell has rung on them. Picture night and day is very clear.
Before purchasing I read on here , about people having problems setting it up. So did I at first. Once I realised that that you had to sync the Ariel first. Then sync the doorbell up to the aerial up too the doorbell, it was pretty easy. The doorbell works fine good quality recordings and live streaming. Easy to mount.
This door bell is brilliant. Easy to set up and easy to install. Picture quality is excellent. And no monthly subscription like some other well known brands.
I tried 2 other makes of doorbell camera’s before buying the eufy one, wish I’d bought this one in the first place, its brilliant! The picture is great, the app is great and very easy to navigate. The chime is loud, I can hear it from every room in the house!
It was so easy to mount on the wall too, it took me 5 mins!
After looking at other video doorbells in a similar price range, I chose the Eufy doorbell. I am not the most techie person but gave the set up a go with my son in case I needed help and I got it all installed and screwed in within about 15 minutes. The picture quality is good during the day and night. My car is kept on a drive way and I can see the number plate on my car quite clearly during the day and night. The notifications I get on my phone when the doorbell is pushed is around 1 or 2 seconds later. I love that I can be at the far end of the garden and I can tell a visitor or courier to come round to the garden and meet me, or choose to stay quiet if it is an inconvenient doorstep caller. The pluses out weigh the negatives. There are a few options of ring tones but without a mini sd card (which isn’t supplied ) only one can be accessed, same with saving videos that are taped but I suppose what can be expected with the price. Bonus is that unlike some of a similar price and specification there is no monthly or annually subscription fee so it is much cheaper to purchase a mini sd card than subscribe. I have also been told and agree that the doorbell looks rather fancy next to my front door. Overall I would recommend this video doorbell.
I’d previously bought another off brand video doorbell that was rubbish. Recommended this and so pleased. The battery life is brilliant and video clear, motion detector just right. You can adjust the area of detection and it has night vision. Recommend.
As older people our son installed this for us and it didn’t take him long. The clarity of images is great and is so easy to see when people are coming and going. Really great buy and excellent value for money
Love that there is no monthly subscription and the memory card is inside the house. The picture quality is very good. The downside is that the motion sensor cannot be customised and you get notifications for everything that moves in front of it. This though doesn’t trigger a recording every time. The other thing is the speed of the connection when you attempt to speak to someone. We have great internet and with a much cheaper bell we had better connection. Overall it’s good but can be much better.
Good product but a couple things that annoy me
1: doesn’t always send notifications its becoming less regular as time goes on too
2: live video is very slow to load
3: will not connect to alexa, tried so many times I’ve now given up
When it gives up for good will probably try another brand as would be reluctant to buy a higher spec but still have the same issues
Good picture and works well as a door bell
Initially tried a Blink Doorbell with Alexa as the chime but it was so slow that it was unusable. This eufy doorbell rings the included chime almost immediately the button is pressed. The app notification appears about 1-2 seconds later with a snapshot of who is at the door. Video feed from app takes a few seconds to start but is way quicker than Blink. Only downside is the video feed takes longer to start on the Google Nest Hub but don’t often use this as it’s easier to just walk to the door if in the house lol. No subscription and video stored on SD card in the chime is even better. Battery life might be an issue but we have been playing with it a lot since set up so have used more power expect battery life to improve when novelty factor has worn off lol 🙂
Easy to install once you have found the correct position. Instructions seem to think we all have side walls and big houses like they do in the USA. I live in a terrace house but still managed to find the correct position. I also live on a main road but the buses or people walking past the gate don’t seem to set it off which was my worry. Good buy if your thinking of buying.
Easy to install and works ok. The connection is a bit hit and miss. The alert is fine but it takes ages to load up to live view. The person waiting either rinse again or leaves. We have good WiFi too.
I am not giving a 5-star rating because of the terrible instructions that come with the doorbell camera/chime combination.
Set-up:
EuFy provides a paper manual that describes how to set up the chime in agonising detail. Once this is completed, nothing works. Despite working in IT, it had to figure out that the doorbell had its own — hidden — install process in the app. Not the end of the world, but it’s annoying.
SD card:
For the system to work, you need a 128 SD card. EuFy would do well to mention this somewhere. I had a 256 SD card lying around, but only up to 128 are accepted. Again — I ordered one — not terrible, just annoying
and finally
After installing the SD card, the app prompts you to format the SD card. After the format nothing is recorded. Eventually, I figured out that you have to reboot the system before the SD card can store the recordings. Again — just plain annoying.
In summary — a great product let down by terrible instructions.
Insider tip: buy the set, buy a 128 SD card (unless you have one already), remember that you have to set up the chime and the doorbell separately in the app and reboot the system after formatting the SD card.
Why EuFy cannot explain that in a paragraph themselves I don’t know!
Really love the Eufy Doorbell, it picks motion coming towards the door excellently. My only complaint is that it does not always pick up us leaving the house and with a teenager that is needed. Perfect otherwise.
There’s loads of options out there when it comes to the new Smart Home Security market, all with different price tags.
For me, the attraction to this product was the price, but also the reviews looked pretty sound too.
The doorbell is pretty damn good. Nice solid unit, sleek design, not too bulky. The door chime is an added bonus, and with the MicroSD slot, makes for much easier storage (no clogging up your phones memory).
Setup was nice and easy, up and running in 5-10mins.
Mounting the doorbell is a breeze, and you have an optional angled mounting plate as well.
Video quality is top, and the sound is good too.
A little bit of a delay to the live feed, but obviously there’s a ping to a server via your WiFi, then ping to your phone, so this is forgivable.
Alerts are standard, and you can change what alerts you receive – full on motion detection, or just doorbell presses.
My only niggle so far, I can’t seem to get the live view on my Echo Show speaker. Every time I ask the Echo Show to “show me the doorbell” I get the response of “hmm, I’m having trouble with null”. Otherwise, when the bell is rung, the notification still comes through on every Alexa speaker I’ve requested that it comes through on.
Great all round, great price, and great quality!
Had this product since March 15th, battery has just popped up as “low” motion detection is set to capture everything. Guess that’s why I haven’t had 120days of battery power. Chime is quite low even on the loudest setting. Overall the image quality is very good, notifications take a few seconds to come through. Update 3rd October, returning product due to the fact it no longer charges after less than 6 months.
The product was easy to physically install, however I did struggle with access from my phone, but that could just be my expectations. Some of the terminology needs to be thought about if you have pre-conceived ideas. I was supprised to realise that access to the device went beyond my home network, but battery life is about 3weeks if you have all the bells and whistles turned on and live in a place where there is a lot of footfall. Overall I am very pleased with the doorbell.
This is the second EUFY doorbell that we have had as I managed to break one of the receivers off the base unit.
Since the install of this new one, there was an automatic upgrade online, unfortunately, even though the picture quality is excellent, it does not record every person who comes on to our drive and it lets the phone know at least 3 minutes after the bell has been pressed. Not very good when you need to respond to the person at the door.
The set-up process and installation of the doorbell was straightforward. The clarity of the video is good overall, and the Eufy Security app works without any issues.
The only negative aspect of this doorbell being that it does not appear to be in any way compatible with my Alexa Echo and Echo Dot devices from the perspective of using them as a chime. The Alexa skill for Eufy Security is practically useless. Amazon’s overview of this product suggests that it is compatible, so this is very misleading and may possibly be in breach of the Trade Description Act 2011 but I am no expert in these matters, so cannot comment further on this.
This door camera works perfectly. It’s got a great picture and works great with Alexa. It can also be viewed on your phone which some people say it can’t but trust me it definitely can!
The reason I’ve dropped a star off is because the battery is not as good as advertised. I’ve managed to get an average of 18 days out of mine wether that improves in warmer weather I will have to see. Also when it’s cold and damp the lense fogs up slightly I’ve also had to fashion a bracket for mine so it points down more as it was aiming into the tree tops
Just as good as the leading competitor but half the price and no subscription fees. So just for that it’s great value
Bought this to replace our Ring doorbell camera which was very slow for notifications and had a yearly cost.
The first unit i installed around 2 weeks after delivery and installed in place of the ring, drilled one new hole. Sadly this unit had a dodgy battery, it charged to 100% and by the time I had walked it outside it was showing 75% and dropped to 65% within 30 minutes. Amazon agreed the return and ordered a replacement.
These things are easy to initially setup, just have your phone with the Eufy app installed and at the ready. Read a 2D barcode off the packaging and off the rear of the doorbell camera, firmware update and it’s ready. The app explains it all except needing to select the Wi-Fi Doorbell Chime.
We setup the Motion Zones so it only covers the drive, footpath and ignored the pavement and road, we get notifications almost instantly and reduced the sensitivity to 2 and all working well.
Picture quality is excellent although we do have a porch light and street lamps quite close so turned off the infra red which was something we couldn’t do with the Ring.
We did buy a 32gb Micro SD card and the app formatted that during the setup. Installed that before plugging the Chime into the mains socket.
On this new unit we have been using it now for 3 weeks and the battery is at 75%.
I bought this as a doorbell that provided some surveillance features rather than a security camera. That distinction is important as it was more about being able to communicate with delivery drivers when out rather than provide security footage of my property. With the above in mind this performs reasonably well, the fact that the footage is stored in the chime rather than requiring a subscription is perfect for my needs with me just putting a 128gb SD card in the chime that resides inside the house. There is a reasonable selection of rings to choose from which are reasonably loud. It also integrates with Amazon Alexa allowing me to use an echo dot to announce when the bell is pressed as well. The footage is clear and the sound clear enough. Installation of the bell on a PVC door was straight forward using self-taping screws to secure the bracket to the door frame.
The Android app works well allowing you to view live footage of stored footage on the chime and configure the doorbell and chime. There is a slight lag when using the live feed and two way comms which is people move away quickly may be an issue. I have not yet been able to get the doorbell camera view to appear on a recent model LG OLED TV with built in Alexa and Google Assistant
The only real issue is that the human motion detection AI is very spotty often missing people as they directly approach the door whilst detecting people that cross the top of the path. After a month of observation I’ve noticed that it is worse at detecting darker complexions frequently missing me and other black people as they approach the door even when standing directly in front of the camera at all times off the day. This is in comparison with paler visitors, delivery people and neighbours who it will generally detect as they get close even if missing them initially. This is worse at night even though a security lamp illuminates the front any time someone approaches the house at night. I have been tweaking the settings and messing with activity zones to try and improve this with limited success so far.
Currently I’m on course for approximately 90 days from a full charge and I’m not on a main road and there is limited foot fall in view on the camera on any given day.
I got this on a whim as I had just moved and wanted to keep an eye on the front of the property so this seemed great and the big selling factor was being able to save and recall files stored locally at no extra cost.
You get all you need in the kit (EXCLUDING a micro SD Card) including a handy mounting guide so you don’t mess up the screw holes. Like others, I didn’t use the supplied screws HOWEVER if you decide to use different screws, make sure they are the same head size otherwise the sync button will be depressed (physically, not mentally) when in the cradle.
Overall, picture quality is great, night vision is ok and the motion detection will take some adjusting so you don’t get alerts every time a empty bag of crisps floats past your door, but give it time and expect to recharge once or twice as you’ll need to keep tweaking the settings.
In hindsight, I would have got the 5 piece alarm kit and then the 2k add on doorbell (which I now have and returned this doorbell kit) as the plugin chime is pretty much redundant when you have the homebase 2. You can’t, for instance, set up automation with anything to do with the doorbell when paired with the chime to anything else on the alarm system. I wanted to (once I installed the alarm kit) set it up so if motion was detected inside, the doorbell starts recording, but as mentioned, the doorbell works independently of the homebase if paired with the chime hence why I have retured it and got the 2k add on.
All in all, it’s good, wouldn’t take much to yank it off and steal it though and there is very little in terms of anti theft devices out there and it is, in essence, a doorbell attached to a plastic back plate. With the supplied 15 degree wedge increases it’s ‘graspability’ to even easier to steal, but hey, it’s the risk we take in the world we live in.
I would recommend this if you’re;
Not looking to add anything else from Eufy alarms
Want an easy to use app with free, locally saved files without additional costs to save recordings.
I have had a Ring Doorbell for a few years and overall been happy with it, apart from the annual subscription to allow me to keep using it. So when looking for a smart doorbell for my business premises, I settled on the Eufy doorbell, which was on offer for under 70 at the time.
Initial impressions were good, the packaging feels premium and the instructions for installing the unit were reasonably good, if not as simple as Ring’s.
The chime and doorbell took two attempts to pair, a process simple enough but it just failed for some reason the first time. Since then, having used the unit for around two weeks they appear to have maintained their pairing without issues.
The doorbell looks neat and I like the fact it’s supplied with an (optional to use) angled wedge to mount to the door frame (unlike Ring who charge extra for this). The doorbell feels of decent quality, unlike the mount and wedge which feel slightly brittle. The screws provided for wall mounting are extremely poor and look like they’d sheer straight away, so I used my own higher quality screws instead of ringing using theirs.
Once installed the unit seems to work pretty well as with the install, day to day use of the Eufy is not as intuitive as the Ring, but once working seems to be good. The “person detect AI” has a nice feature where it stores a thumbnail snapshot of the face of the person it detects in addition to the video recording.
Pairing with Alexa seems to be an issue I’ve tried a few times and the skill is enabled, but I don’t seem to get alerts on my Echo devices as they say is possible. I may try again, but it’s not a deal breaker for me.
I can change from home to away modes using the Echo.. however there is a major limitation for this in that this system seems to think it’s an alarm rather than a doorbell, so requires you to set up and say a four digit code to change to the “home” mode. I can build the switch into an Alexa routine, but you will still need to speak your four digit PIN to change from “away” mode. Personally I would like to see the schedule mode work with a manual override (eg armed from 10pm to 6am but then manually arm it if I am out during the day) but doing this switches off the schedule mode. This is a major limitation in my opinion and there is no way to disable the PIN as far as I can see.
There are also issues with the language in this section of the app, which are not clear and easy to understand and the same for the Alexa skill which uses terms not found in the app at allclearly written by a different team and not terribly usable.
The indoor chime has a micro SD slot and formats your card when pushing it in for the first time. The chime can also be used as an indoor alarm, so if your doorbell senses movement it will sound a siren on the chime unit. I have tested it, but don’t think I would use this in the real world as it’s likely to have false alarms in my opinion.
Overall, this is a good unit, functions well as a doorbell and with a reasonable picture quality. The no subscription model is attractive making this a good value solution which I would recommend. However the software issues could be a dealbreaker for some wanting a more sophisticated solution, which I hope Eufy will improve over time.
I read a lot of the reviews before I bought this doorbell camera.
Once I settled on this and had it in my hands it didn’t take too long to set up.
I read a few people asking about how to format an SD card of they don’t have laptops etc.
Don’t worry, just put the SD card stra2into the chime and when you open the app it will ask if you want to format the card.
Problem solved.
As for the relay, there is a slight delay on the motion detection from it happening to coming through to my phone.
I did some practice scenarios, when I’m on the WiFi it’s fine, when I’m not or if I was away from home it’s slower.
It’s important to remember this isn’t a cctv system. It’s a doorbell.
As far as the bell being pressed goes, it’s instant when it comes to my phone.
It does have facial recognition and captures a snapshot of their face for you but that’s not too important.
I use this as a doorbell that I can see who’s there and that works for me.
Yes, the relay on speaking to them is a little slow and the motion detection takes a couple of seconds to reach my phone, but. It will capture who it was even if you miss them. It’s that little bit of added security at the door if your other cameras don’t quite cover it.
If it was a scammer or seller at the door, they’ll wait and it gives you time to react or talk to them.
If it’s a postman and you miss him, you’ll know it was him.
Even if you miss the alert. It still captures the video and sound so it’s all good.
I’d definitely recommend this.
What made it sweeter for me was I used the free amazon voucher when I took my broadband and bought it on prime day.
So as far as I’m concerned, yes.
Give it a go.
This does for the most part, what it’s meant to do however there are some issues in software that have yet to be solved;
Alerts – Frequently slow even with the phone out of power saving, and the apps power saving disabled. The chime will often go a good 2-3 seconds BEFORE my phone.
Motion detection and ring – If you have both enabled, its pretty much useless. The device will motion detect alert, THEN if the person rings the bell, the ringer on the phone just.. wont go off at all.
Mounting – It’s OK but needs another couple of angle shims. The supplied one is mostly sufficient but it needs some steeper angles.
The supplied screws were utterly utterly useless and stupidly soft. There is also a screw hole where the rest button is. If you do not get it perfect, the screw will keep the rest button pushed down. Partially user fault, partially a design issue.
Charge – Slow to charge. Like.. wayyy too slow. Yes, it can be charged over-night but its annoying that it takes so long.
Software – Eufy are pretty slow to update or add any features. Really we need to have the ability to offload files / stream using other apps like software DVRs. It’s been promised, but has never arrived as a feature.
There are plenty of detailed reviews already, therefore I shall add two things only.
1. Once the doorbell is set up on one device, it is very easy to have it on other devices without repeating the initial steps. Everything you need to do is to install the app on the other devices and log into your account through them. Very easy!
Note that on some devices there is a slight delay, which I suppose is down to the device connectivity (??). For example: We get the streaming almost instantly on my Galaxy S20 and on my husband’s iPhone 9, however it takes longer to get it on the iPad Air Third.
2. If for some reason you need to unplug the doorbell chime, it does not lose the settings. That was a pleasant surprise for me because I had to move the doorbell chime from the top floor downstairs. Then I thought that I might need to install everything from scratch again, but no, it turned out the doorbell “has remembered” the settings and it was just “plug and play”.
It only took a couple of minutes to resume and that was it! Very easy again!
Overall this video doorbell works very well indeed and represents great value for money compared to most of the others on the market. It was super simple and very intuitive to install, including the mobile app. You do need a plug fairly close to the outdoor bell itself.
The only downside is that sometimes if someone approaches the bell very quickly it can miss them. I have it on the mid sensitivity but making it more sensitive makes it give false positives with trees moving in the wind. The other slight issue is that it sometimes I’ve got an alert but them no event appears in the app. On those occasions I simply reformat the micro SD card and all is fine. Don’t let the negatives put you off however as they are really minor. Knowing what I know now I’d certainly still buy one again and can easily recommend it.
OK , So I’ve had the eufy security wiring video doorbell six weeks now. After some early teething problems, The original unit wouldn’t charge , Its been up and running without too many problems. The manufacturers state it will last six months without charging. Mines already on its second, And I’m finding it bleeds the battery life of my phone ,which is annoying!
However security wise it gives full peace of mind , being able to talk to the postman while we were out was fun! And handy. The picture is clear and crisp the settings ensure it doesn’t go off someone drives or walks down the street. Even the night time picture is clear , I’ve seen different wildlife in the garden.. But a winning factor for me over its rivals is the cost . Mine was on offer on amazon for under 80 quid. You dont have to purchase cloud time like its rivals just insert a micro card and you’re good to go. Another pleasing aspect is how easy it was to set up . Took me only 20 minutes, So that’s about 10 minutes to other people. Well worth the money I paid for it Just the issue with it bleeding my phone battery and charging the unit up a lot quicker than advertised prevents it being 5 stars.
Overall easy and great value. I meant to buy a wired unit but decided to keep this one. I was originally concerned about the security of the unit but it is quite secure with the provided screws. It comes with a 15 degree ‘wedge’ if you need to angle the bell and the DS card is installed securely in the indoor unit.
The instructions are not very clear with the setup and pairing of the units, as it says ‘press the button for two seconds until the green light flashes’. Don’t do that as it doesn’t work. Press the button for two seconds and stop. The green light comes on after a short wait.
The alert for persons walking to the door is delayed, but the doorbell ring is fine. Sounds a little funny though, some sounds are better than others.
It claims face recognition, but this means that it will show a small picture of the face it sees separate to the whole Chiswick, not identify known people.
Overall, I’m happy to accept these small issues as it is a good product, looks good and does what I need. Additionally of course, you get full functionality free, unlike most others that ( I think) dishonestly promise functions that you have to pay monthly for.
Additional. – after using this for three weeks, the battery needed recharging. I was using the full functionality, but turned off many features so that just the doorbell worked with doorbell video. Since then the battery has stayed full for 6 weeks so far.
After trawling the internet and comparing various types and manufactures of doorbell camera I eventually ordered the Eufy version. As usual fro Amazon it arrived next day and I was able to install straightaway, this was easy as was setting up various iPads and phones to access notifications etc. The images are stored onto a mini SD card (not supplied) so no subscription (cloud or otherwise) is required. It’s possible to select all or “human” movement to trigger alerts also it’s easy to set the area in which movement is triggered, although This area is merely a dragged rectangle – it would be useful to be able to have a shape other than a box of 90 degrees.
The images are crisp although a fair bit of distortion due to the field of view (enormous!). It connect to Alexa easily and it’s simple to create routines etc.for different alerts at different times.
There is lag between movement and being alerted but none between anyone pressing the doorbell – again with Alexa connected all your devices can be programmed to announce that some one is at the door – handy if you are out of earshot of the door chime.
All in all it’s a great device and well worth the money – the only gripe is that the door bell is quite large and very noticeable!
Update: 6 months on and I’ve downgraded this to one star. For instance – twice this week someone has rang the doorbell and 20 MINS LATER I’ve had the notification. This is the whole point of having a system that allows you to be in out of ear shot of the chime ie the garden, but still know someone is at the door. Luckily our dog has more reliability.
Edit 2, eufy got in touch and sorted the issue – a software update was required and now working we’ll.
I purchased this for my parents who are in their 70’s. I was initially really impressed with the unit. Excellent video quality and easy to use. It also seems reliable so far. The one mistake I made was allowing my father to install the unit. In his wisdom he decided to use his own screws to attach it to the door frame. These had a small button head and while the unit would work when not in the base, it failed to work when installed in it. After some head-scratching I realised the screwhead was pushing on the back of the unit where the sync button is. Screw changed, problem solved, lots of excuses from my father why he didn’t just use the screws it comes with.
This is a great product, Needed a doorbell that was like Ring, but not got the monthly subscription. This is great, the quality is great, goes straight through to my phone. Records straight onto an SD Card, of which you can then watch the footage back if needed. I would highly recommend this to anyone that looks at RING, but got put off by the subscription! You also know Anker/ Eufy Products are fantastic, so you know its not going to let you down!
Great quality & build all round. Great interface with app on iPhone.
Comes with 15 degree angle bracket as well.
Had to install slightly differently than the instructions (installed the chime first as a separate item then the doorbell).
Highly recommend.
Very easy to set up and install. Doorbell main unit has a nice quality weighted feel. Door chime has Micro SD card space for local storage.
Battery dose not last the advertised number of days on the instructions
Working ok so far, only had it a week! Took a while to get to grips with the soft ware.
Its not bad so far so good bought it to replace my old one , few days its work good can check video easy app work good at mome
Is the only camera system I could find that works without a subscription .
It’s a very good door bell easy to install, Picture quality is good
Motion detection amazing as your alerted every time someone approaches your house and you can talk to them.
Very easy to install and a great price for a great produc
Easy to fit, instructions could have been a bit more descriptive but pleased with i
I purchased this item because I live in a first floor flat, with my door on the ground floor and regularly miss deliveries etc
This is great, not only does it ring when the bell is pressed but it also warns you if anyone comes near the door. Furthermore if you do not want cloud storage, there are no ongoing fees.
Works perfectly on its own but when added Eufy camera then motion detector doesn’t detect motio
Very pleased with this product extremely easy to install and setup.
Camera misted up after just over a year, still usable but annoying.
so far i’m happy with this door bell.
little delay when i check on my phone, who’s at the door but that might be slow internet, not sure.
wish the bell came with an option to buy the micro sd card, because now i’m having trouble finding one.
scared to order one, in case it’s the wrong one.
please can they include the sd card.
not easy for people with mobility issues.
but all in all i’m happy with the video door bell. thank you
Seems to work ok but doesn’t always pick people up at the front door frustratingly.
Have had a Eufy cameras for about 3 years now the last bit was the bell,
Work ok a little delay on sending to phone but overall very good
Easy to set up.
Great purchase as I’m disabled getting to the door can be a challenge with this I can see whose there
This door bell is brilliant. Easy to set up and easy to install. Picture quality is excellent. And no monthly subscription like some other well known brands.
Easy to install, almost plug and play.
Just one gripe is the delay between the sensor and the notification on the app.
Very Good, just a bit slow on informing me, but they are all the same, great for price.
I like it but it take some time for the app to open. Maybe it is my phone?
Not the easiest or quickest to install but got there eventually
Does what it says, probably not as good quality as ring doorbell, but for the price it’s ok and real bonus is recording onto sd card
I would recommend this if you’re;
This does for the most part, what it’s meant to do however there are some issues in software that have yet to be solved;
