I played and finished the original FF7 in the 1990s when it originally came out and since have bought an old playstation from a charity shop and replayed it, hunting down every side quest and monster. So I’m a fan. The music, art work, playability, scope and imagination of the development team was amazing. Awe inspiring really, and like many others thought Tetsuya Nomura was practically gaming divinity. I always hoped the game would be upgraded to better graphics and it was a whoop when I heard that is exactly what happened.
When I read the initial reviews in the mags about the remake I put off buying until it dropped in price. My main discomfort, “Modernising the battle engine”. And by modernising, I mean removing the turn based, full party control and replacing it with a dumbed down version.
So I bought the remake before Xmas and set off home with my shiny new purchase to play on a new PS4 I bought just to play the game.
The game follows the same story with lots of extra padding and a lot of new features. The rendering of the scenery, characters and background is slick and beautiful. Shintaro Takai and Motomu Toriyama were faithful to the original and made it much better. I particularly liked the detail of the slums and various encounters, with detrucible and moveable equipment. You can destroy kit on one flight of stairs and discover it broken, several floors down where it fell down. Not everything is destructible or movable, but it’s just right. The Shinra HQ building looks like a movie set but seems very scripted and unfinished. There was more interaction in the original than this version where it looked like the base background was created and then they didn’t have time to add in the interactive overlay of lockers, machines, Midgar model etc.
I would say the main weaknesses of the game are the pointless mini quests and highly scripted nature of many of the encounters with freedom of character movement highly constrained. I think the developers knew this and added in the occasional quip about the Cloud thinking it was confusing and pointless. Finding stray cats and children around a slum maze left Cloud sighing on the screen and the player. I’m not sure why Kuzushige Nojima hampered character freedom so much. Veer off the path you’ve been given and you get a warning that you are off scenerio and can’t continue to explore. Freedom to explore was a strength in the original game and it’s been lost in the remake. How the world map is going work in the next installment could be problematic. I’m assuming there was a technical reason. But it looks like it was too too difficult to programme or time consuming so I wonder about the choice of underlying architecture. And whether there was a trade off that may really limit the next stages and its success.
Anyways the battle scenes. It’s a bit of a mess as it’s only partially turn based and it seems unfinished to me. Almost as if they had to do it, but the mechanics of the battle got confused. You control a main character in the party and it’s pot luck if you can control what another party member does before they do it. They are automatically hitting and not using magic. It really does hamper using the party and materia to its full advantage. You have to hit a few times to get your ATB gauge up and then you can use your materia by the main character. There are lots of added extras with weapons having added profficiences, but limit breaks have been completed undermined. Shame because it was a great part of the original. As for summoning materia dont get me started. They only appear useable for certain boss battles and even then it’s luck which one you can use and whether that one will be useful. You may have the summons materia on a character, and only one per character but for some reason only one character can use their summons…once. A bit of a pain in a multi staged boss battle lasting 15 mins. There were some great ideas about the summons themselves but its useability has been sadly lost. Maybe it’s work in progress. So boooo to Teruki Endo on that one. Great 3d battle scenes though, character movement and graphics. Too much scripting in the battles that you really notice if you replay a boss and party dynamics and summons are there but not useable to their full potential.
So the story line. Lots of padding, you do really get to understand the characters better. The structure of their stories and development is well thought through. But the story seems to be padded out in daft ways like the jaw dropping boring mini quests. I hope they don’t kill Aeris later, shame about Jessie still dying and the fat boy living. Should have been the other way round. As for all the alternative reality stuff. It’s a good ploy to be able to change the story later. As long as it is a better story and not because the technology is not up to scratch or too expensive to make.
A few extras. Lighting and storyline is superb. Music is awful. Really, really bad. Tinny cafe music enought to drive you demented. I bet you will end up turning down the sound at times. Whilst I don’t like the way the battle engine has been developed it has many pluses. The music. Ughhh. I’m not sure who the music director was, but they really did ruin it.
Early days, but thus far it’s a great way to experience the classic. The battle system is a nice middle ground between the old and new of final fantasy. Some side characters get more spotlight, but it can feel like a bit if padding at times. Just be mindful this is only part 1, so if you are hoping for the full FF7 then you will be waiting for a while yet (if it comes to PS4 at all).
It is a great game, but I was give a European copy, which made it so much of a hassle to get the 5 upgrade( to the point I needed to make a account in demark just to use it). CHECK THE REGION CODE FIRST.
Brought this due to having to buy a copy to get a PS5 uprgade (played before with ps plus) as you can see i got it again just for the ps5 upgrade (thats how good this game is). They did justice to every character that was in the original and also gave more to characters that weren’t really portrayed much in the PS1 game. This was done wonderfully and made me fall in love with them. The music is ear candy, incredible and you’ll definitely have a few stuck in your head upon completing the game. The combat is a new take on action combat which gives it a 50/50 of turn based combat with commands and action based. The combat never gets old, as you combine different moves with your party members and use them on a staggered enemy, it’s extremely satisfying. There is plenty to do, during the game and post game (which i won’t spoil) however some of the sidequests were pretty boring point A-B sidequests, but i wanted to platinum this game so i have to power through them, however the combat is fun so its helped get through the handful that are kind of boring and standard. Small note on graphics if you are playing on standard ps4/pro the game will look incredible, however you may encounter a few texture issues (not game breaking) but if on the ps5 version all of these things are fixed with a performance mode at 60fps. I extremely suggest buying this game if you want to get into final fantasy as a newcomer or are a fan of the original. Please remember this is just a fraction of the original game so expect a part2 etc
My teenage years comes back! Best game ever remade for PS4 (and now PS5). Don’t listen to all moaners that it is not complete game – it is as advertised part I of the series and it is worth every penny!
OK so this game, looks beautiful and is generally great, it does have 1 significant flaw in my eyes however, it’s great value at a 40- 50 hour game but the bosses (of which there are many) can easily take 20 minutes a time and the further you get into the game the longer they take, for me spending 20 minutes on a boss only to be beaten in the final moments is very frustrating and as a person with very limited time for gaming this really pi**ed me off, other than this however its a fantastic game
Had played the original FF7 decades ago. Playing this brought back memories and the gameplay is much more seamless and enjoyable with the changes they have made.
Ignore all the 1 star reviews, honestly the game was amazing. I played it at launch and loved every moment of it. It’s far of the original but still gives you flashbacks to what the original was about, yes this is going to be 3 parts but it’s going to take what was a 50 hour game and turn it in to a 150-200 after all 3 parts.
I’m not keen on the original FF7 but this game is a masterpiece.
It shows how if a company takes their time and cares about creating a real Remake they can.
The visual quality, the gameplay, the story are all great. The adaption of its combat to fit into more modern times yet still feel like it’s engaging with its historic roots are incredible!
Excellent game for both FF fan or new players. But the story seems very incomplete with much unanswered (because it is incomplete). This part of the game was only about one third (if not less) of the original game story. To beef up the game, some irrelevant chapters (or the relevance is still not known) are added to the game, causing the story tell very slow.
One of the best remakes to one of the best jrpgs of all time. They couldn’t have done a better job with giving us the same game with a very modern game feel. Love the additional story and the game play is great fun. Looking forward to the next part and seeing what else they do with this
Incredible how they remade the original Final Fantasy VII! Combat in the remake is rather intuitive, dynamic, yet still strategic. Characters and environments look great. Can’t wait for the next part!
I played final fantasy 7 on my PSP a long time ago. I enjoyed the original and was looking forward to playing the remaster.
I will preface by saying it is about 1/4 of the original games story. The story is way more fleshed out which is brilliant. The combat has evolved from turn based to more action with slow downs to use skills. Once I figured out the mechanics I had a blast and became really engaged I wanted more combat in the game tbh and felt like that was lacking. My biggest problem was the ending boss rush. I spent at least an hour doing these 3 bosses in a row I failed right at the end which made me stop playing. I would still get this game it is worth your time and was really good until the end.
Amazing game, amazing price. I’ve been waiting forever to play part 1 of cloud strifes adventure, and can’t wait for part 2 to be remade some time in the near future!
Titolo fantastico. A differenza di tlou 2 la trama ha senso, i personaggi sono ottimi e il combat system bilanciato. Unica pecca il livello nella fabbrica che per qualche strano motivo tradizione dei jrpg e verso la fine cominci a saltare tutto per noia.
I was exceptical about changing the old system of fighting by turns, however, the new dynamic mode is fun and harderd than you think. It test your abilities as a gamer and I love that. The graphics keeping the asthetics of the orignal game are awesome, the sound track and sound effects played with a home cinema is just a plesure for your ears. A masterpiece game.
Never played the original but seen a few videos and wanted to try the game. Really fun and the characters are great. Gameplay can be a little repetitive but this is the type of game it is. Would definitely recommend playing if your thinking about giving it a go.
I still remember the original when it first came out. This isn’t a disappointment. Yes, it’s fairly linear but so was the original until you picked up the Highwind. The story is changed here and there, but not significantly and it still has the feel of the original. You really feel the tone change when you get inside Shinra HQ. And it holds up to repeat playing on the new game + equivalent. I think the next part will be the hardest, but I’m looking forward to it.
Never played final fantasy before, and I don’t usually play RPG’s, but this game is amazing! The characters, story, soundtrack and gameplay are genuinely some of the best I’ve seen. Gameplay wise, you can expect 35-45 hours for the first playthrough depending on how you play, which considering its based off the first 12 hours of the original ff7, is pretty good going! I can’t wait for the next one!
I’ve loved the original since I was a kid and completed it several times, and I think I love the remake just as much and I know I’ll be completing more than once. I can’t wait for part 2.
Bought a PlayStation 4 and 70% of the reason was just to get this game and have not been disappointed. Hearing the music again but much clearer sound and seeing the graphics has been a real pleasure and the humour matches my personality it’s been great.
There has been one negative which nearly all developers need to improve on and that’s when walking past people they repeat conversations like when standing next to them on the train to talk to an important character.
Buy if you enjoyed the original still get this as you see things never shown which paints a clearer image of Shinra, extra story mission’s to complete also.
I wasn’t sure about the transition with battle from turned based strategy to live battles but the combat is supreme.
Well worth the cost, thoroughly enjoy!!! Great developers.
This has lost 1 star not because of the game as the game itself is a full FIVE STARS, the cover is too big for the case and so looks a right mess, as if its been wet, just crumpled inside the slip case. For that reason I returned it and will wait for it to be sorted as its a common problem.
Now, down to the game, I put in around 5 hours before sending it back and graphically it is amazing, and great voice acting to go with the characters I loved playing as a kid on the original. One of my favourite FF games and even games as a kid.
Adds more depth to the story of midgar from Disc 1, yes we know its not a complete game and they will charge for the others but they have rebuilt the game from the ground and this is around 40 hours of gameplay, even more if you want platinum. So ignore all the haters when we knew it was only Midgar, its not half a game its part 1 of a game thats been rebuilt with brilliant graphics.
The gameplay is different from the original obviously as its now fully 3D and new fighting style, if its too hard you can change it to the original way (kind of) where it focuses more on gameplay than fighting.
If your a huge fan of the original then you will be happy with this and story reflects it too
I’ve been playing video games since 1987. This is the first game I’ve enjoyed enough to play more than once – I played it though 3 times before moving on to my next game.
The cut scenes and dialogues between the characters, especially all dialogues involving Aerith, are captivating and often hilarious.
The game play is challenging but always delightfully playable.
My advice: Buy, play, play again, play again in hard mode.
I have waited along time for final fantasy 7 to get an uplift and I have to admit that they have done a superb job in my opinion.
Final fantasy 7 was the first RPG that i played and throughly enjoyed, it had fantastic gameplay, engaging music and a brilliant storyline and with the remake they have been able to keep what the original made great in the remake.
My only slight negative would be with the added action RPG style rather than the turn based style I loved in the original but that is only my opinion as I know many others enjoy more action RPG’s today.
Graphics: Are absolutely amazing and really draws you into the game and the storyline. 5/5
Gameplay: even though I’ve mentioned I preferred the original turned based style I have still thoroughly enjoyed the action element they have added although the camera angels can be difficult to control and sometimes loose tract of where the enemies are.
4/5
Music: This they have stayed true to the original and is extremely good and blends in with the story and gameplay seamlessly.
5/5
This is the first console game my wife has played in many years.
It took her a little bit to get in to the 3D nature of it.
Once we tweaked the camera controls she was off.
It’s tough but it is a great trip down memory lane with some up to date graphics.
A wonderful slice of nostalgia mixed with modern technology.
A brilliant game. It’s a must buy if you are and aren’t a final fantasy fan. Appears to bridge the gap between action games and final fantasy games. Since comfortably in-between both.
Although it doesn’t replace the happy memories of the original, it is a great remake. Add it to your collection!
suite a l incident a cause du covid 19 j ai bien recu cet article avec un peu de retard . je remercie l expediteur smile,je tenais a m exusez aupres de l expedieur smile car j ai bien recu cet article et je le remercie vraiment .
Brilliant game. I loved these characters all over again, the original story is well told but not repeated line for line. I loved that I learned more about the avalanche characters too.
Came on time, well packaged and as described. Enjoying playing the remake more than the original, it’s a beautiful game graphically and as with all final fantasies it has a great story to it!
Twenty-two years ago, me and my younger brother were introduced to FINAL FANTASY VII (1997). On our first plays, we couldn’t get past the first boss! However, we realize that it was a different type of computer game (Role-Playing Game) and, over time, got use to playing it. While this was the seventh entry in the FINAL FANTASY franchise, FFVII was the game that brought even more people’s attention to the games outside Japan. Regarded as one of the greatest games of all time, FFVII spawned a number of spin-off games and a couple of straight-to-home animated films.
Some jaded viewer would probably see a remake of the game as another excuse of the creators milking out a beloved existing material. However, for years, fans had pleaded to Square Enix about making a remake. It officially enter production in late-2015, and after more than five years in the making, FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE was released. One thing that surprised everyone was that this game actually covers 10 to 15% of the original, from the attack on the Shinra Mako reactor all the way to the escape from Shinra headquarters. So, there’s no appearances from Cid, Vincent nor Yuffie (though Cait Sith makes a cameo!).
If there’s one comparison to Square Enix’s path they’re taking with the FFVII remake (as a series of games), then that’s another Japanese entertainment that took the country and the rest of the world by storm in the latter half of the 1990’s, the NEON GENESIS EVANGELION saga (1995-1997). Roughly a decade after the original series ended, Hideaki Anno decided to re-tell his magnum opus with THE REBUILD OF EVANGELION tetralogy of films – EVA 1.0 (2007) was a partial remake of the first six episodes of the anime, EVA 2.0 (2009) began to take the saga into new territory, which continued even further with EVA 3.Q (2012) and will concluded with the upcoming EVA 3.0 + 1.0.
And I think that’s what Square Enix are planning to do with the FFVII remake series, this game more or less remakes the first one-tenth of the original, while at the same time taking the story into a new direction. While playing this, I was just impress of the hard work the developers brought to this game, and I kind of like the different missions we had – for example, Jessie, Biggs & Wedge, Barrett’s assistants, are given more backgrounds. It was kind of strange hearing the voices of Cloud, Tifa, Aerith and Barrett, but the voice-actors do very decent jobs. Those four-plus years of making the highly-anticipated game did not go to waste.
Another thing to point out is that this is no way going to replace the original. The original, that was produced for PSOne, will always have a place in the history of video games and availability. And if they are some fans who don’t want to play the FFVII Remake because they are so passionate about the original, then they don’t have to.
My younger brother is going hold his judgement on the overall series until Square Enix completes their FFVII remake games, but for me, I’m very impress of what they’ve done with this first game. All they have to do is maintain the spirit that made the original game so beloved, improve on certain things and continue taking the remake series down a road that will make stand alongside the PS1 classic. Good luck, everyone at Square Enix!
Final Fantasy VII Remake is something of an enigma. For starters, it’s not in any way shape or form a remake. It takes the first maybe five hours of the original and stretches it out to make something that is altogether different.
This is both a blessing and a curse. It allows for the supporting cast to be fleshed out much more, especially the other members of Avalanche, which really adds something to the story. However, it also, means that there are quite a few filler side quests that probably didn’t need to be in there. On the whole though the game benefits from the extra time you get to spend in Midgar.
The battle system takes some getting used to but on the whole is an improvement on the original, giving it a more immediate actiony feel. I was sceptical at first but doing some stabbing while you wait for your meter to fill up for the big attacks does work well. The only downside is that your AI companions ATB bars go up incredibly slowly when you’re not controlling them so you have to switch constantly between characters to be effective.
It goes without saying that the graphics, music and voice acting is exceptional. There are occasional texture issues but they are far enough apart that it didn’t affect the game for me.
Overall, this is a fantastic reimagining of arguably the best console game of all time. I only hope we don’t have to wait twenty odd years for the next instalment.
The original is probably my favorite game of all time, I must have completed it well over a dozen times. Owned it on all consoles its available on so was looking forward to this. The delays were quiet annoying but when I played the demo I could see how much work had gone in to the game to give it a modern and refreshing feel. Visually stunning and entertaining. I’m currently only on chapter 3 (around 2 hours in to the game) but really enjoying it. I know this is just the midgar section of the original game and I am curious to how the next part will play out with so much left from the original. Hopefully it will be faithful to the original in terms of areas and story. Overall its a must for fans of the original
Excellent gameplay, the usual brilliant graphics, engaging story and good combat system. An excellent game but compared to other FF titles a bit linear with less world exploration (I would have loved to see other bits of the world and revisit places) and ability to wander, less ability to develop characters freely and a lack of conclusion.
Definitely a game worth playing but leaves you wanting more ….
Firstly I’ll address a common issue people seem to have. This game does not cover the entire story of the original Final Fantasy 7. It is a remake, (not to be confused with a “remastered” version as some reviews seem to fall into). If you want to play the original game with better graphics, then I’d suggest you look at a modded version of the PC game.
I played the original version as a child, and have played most of the games within the larger series, so understand the history and the style of the games.
It takes 30 – 40 hours to complete a single play through of this game. The game is not open world, rather it has set maps which are highly detailed and full of nuance, rather than generic open maps. The combat is an interesting mixture of action and turn-based, which I found to be quite intuitive.
The graphics are largely impressive, unless the character in question is an NPC/non-story character. At which point, the animation, acting, etc, seems to drop off a bit. The trade off is that the important characters are really fleshed out. Biggs, Wedge and Jessie (3 fairly minor characters from the original), now have some substance and give you a reason to care.
Soundtrack, as ever with FF games, is fantastic. A large amount of the original score remains, but tweaked and updated.
Overall, I enjoyed the game, I would recommend it and I am excited for the next game.
Extraordinary game. I cannot wait for the second part! It is clear that the team made something different from the original, and put lot of heart on it.
I can’t understand why there are so many gamers complaining. If you want to play the classic with better graphics, you can find many versions of FFVII, inclusive for PS4 in the PSN.
I originally had my doubts when this game was in development, but honestly it doesn’t disappoint. It doesn’t follow perfectly to the original story but the elements they added only enhanced the overall storyline. The combat system is so much faster but with enemy hits cancelling your spells/abilities it can be quite frustrating.
My only issue is how they’re going to make this transfer to the following games. In the origins you knew all your levels would help you fight the weapons but you might just lose it al after this one and have to start again…
Please ignore the xbox and pc trolls etc this is a ps4 exclusive
Amazing this is what a remake should be
One of the best looking games
One of the best combat systems I have seen
Amazing all around people moan it’s only part of the game but it’s not it’s a full 45 hour long rpg with a sequel in the works . They have expanded one of the greatest stories and gaming universes of all time and that’s exciting !
After waiting years and years for the remake of one of my favourite games I can honestly say I wasn’t disappointed. It’s not an exact replica of the original but then what would the point in that be? Instead this adds depth to the characters and story and allows you to explore and enjoy the amazing scenery. The designers clearly put a lot of time, effort and soul into this game and it shows.
I haven’t finished it yet, probably about a third of the way through, but it has been a pleasure to play and I just hope that it doesn’t take as long for part 2 to be released! For those moaning that it only goes as far as Midgar, yes it isn’t the whole game, but the depth and detail that has been put into this section alone means that you couldn’t possibly expect them to fit the original into one game, it wouldn’t do it justice.
As for the combat system I have to be honest I was worried about this. I have always preferred the original turn based system and I was worried I wouldn’t keep up with the new one (I didn’t get on with FF15) but it’s actually easy once you’ve done a few battles and I actually prefer it now so don’t let that put you off.
I would highly recommend this game for old fans and new players alike and I look forward to the next part.
As someone who played the original on the PS back in the late 90s, I am really enjoying this game. No its not a detail by detail remake, but how could it be, and the creators have shown real imagination adapting the story in parts to suit the abilities of the PS4, but there is still lots of the old game there, a real nostalgia buzz. Also, it is only the first part, but the original game was unusual its length by the standards of PS. I just hope they are able to deliver the later parts in a timely fashion as we are about the cross consoles to PS5.
Absolutely brilliant! Don’t expect a shot for shot remake, but do expect an excellent, character driven RPG. Combat flows very well, the story hits all of the emotional beats, and works far better than you’d expect for a 30-40 hour version, of the first 5-6 of the original. A must buy for any RPG fan.
I absolutely loved this. I’m a big fan of the original and I love where they’re going with the remake. Fantastic characters and combat. Can’t recommend enough.
This is Part One of what will be a series of games, and it is absolutely brilliant. The gameplay is stunning, as is the battle system. This game covers the Midgar portion of the game, and you will have about 45-50 hours of gameplay. So glad to have FF7 back!
Considering the issues that plagued the game in development and its lack of progress the game appears better than expected although there are noticeable corner cuts. Whilst some graphics are breathtaking others are phoned in (windows of rusted building in sector 5 jeez).
And yes the game is not a true remake, the title is misleading in this regard, and yes the game is linear and not as explorative as it’s predecessor but all the same it’s great seeingthe characters we remember come back to life. I’m sure the series will develop and adjust accordingly. The world map is yet to be introduced and I’m sure that will offer the jrpg fan boys a little mor juice.
Either way a good throwback with improved fighting. Worth a play
Great reimagining. This isn’t a remake it’s a reimagining. Whilst it’s not the whole original game it adds so much content as to justify the full game price tag. Greatly looking forward to part 2
I loved final fantasy. I was 10 years old when I originally played final fantasy 7. I’ve been looking at the reviews and thought oh crap, this is gonna be awful but it’s the complete opposite. This game storyline had a few tweaks but it was absolutely amazing. I feel in love with many of the characters and found myself heart broken with a few characters in the game dying (not spoiling). I spent my time going through this game and not rushing to complete it. The quests are fun, the engagement is fantastic. Even the battle system is amazing. I often let Tifa to be my team leader, because why not? Needless to say I love the Turks who are funny. This game has so much potential and none of it was wasted. I love the graphics, the game play.. pretty much everything. I cannot wait for the second instalment; I am sooo excited that I cannot contain my excitement. Worth the buy. 100%
Simply an amazing game, people leaving reviews saying it’s a RIP off because its only part 1, are you kidding me??
They just want everything for nothing, this game is far too big for one part and the amount of work put in to remake it means alot of money was spent doing something that the fans wanted and they know that!
Do yourself a favour and buy the remake now, 99% of people will absolutely love i
Excellent game. Even though it’s only part of the story the length time is long and there’s so much love and attention poured into each section of the game, alongside an excellent combat system and beautiful characterisation.
The one main negative is that even though the game can look stunning with amazing effects and stunning main character models, there is some poor texture work and pop in spread across the environments. It appears more in certain sections of the game but it is noticeable. I can’t say it impacted my enjoyment of the game though.
Great game, gave me just over 30hrs of gameplay. Thoroughly enjoyed it as a fan of rhe original. It gives hints that things will maybe start to stray from the story of the original in the future editions. Excited to see which direction they take PART2.
In every sense of the word, for an FF, this game boasts so many new features. The battle synergy literally redefines RPG play while simultaneously giving you nostalgia from the original. The game is really foreboding and if you are a fan of the original please dont expect everything to be exactly as it was before.
Stubborn oxes need not purchase. Theres a fan made remake of Final Fantasy on steam if you want to reply that. I think after 20 years, there would be those who would get sad about playing the same game again, word for word, but it appears to me that there are also some people with undiagnosed autism.
Such themes in this game would be displeasing to the unimaginative. Anyway, I’m gonna go play Persona 5 now. Peace
This by far exceeded my expectations. I am a long running fan of Final Fantasy and the original FFVII was my gateway into this franchise.
Back in 1996 FFVII blew my young mind and has stood as my favourite game ever since (I must have racked up over 600 hours in all). This remake is Part One and only covers upto the end of the Midgar part (which despite reviews moaning about this, Square made it very clear from the first announcement that this would be the case and the remake would be released in parts). If you are a fan of FFVII then you need this. For me it was like reuniting with old friends and the new game play and mechanics have vastly improved on the original while also expanding the back store of much loved characters.
Ignore the people saying ‘this isn’t a complete game…’ etc. They clearly have barely played it (and certainly haven’t finished it).
I’m a huge fan of the original, it’s one of my favourite games of all time. It was such a mammoth task remaking it and they couldn’t have done a better job in my opinion. This is a fully fledged game in its own right and by no means is a ‘part finished’ game.
Firstly I’d like to say, ignore all those who are slating this for being linear. Anyone who fondly remembers the original psx version should know that the Midgar part of the game was linear. You had no other option but to follow the plot till leaving Midgar. So if you you played the original, you know what to expect.
But boy do you get a lot more story! The extra detail and content that the developers have included is remarkable. There are some inconsistencies with how the original played out, and even some dialogue discrepancies where I don’t see a reason for changing (the flashback scene where Tifa curses Shinra for one), It’s not as if the original was full of swearing.
The combat is tricky to begin with but soon you get the hang of it and it becomes very intuitive and responsive, having the extra materia later game helps.
Speaking of materia, I love that they kept the materia system basically the same. Some new additions to aid with the new combat style as well as the old favourites. Wasn’t too happy at the restricted blue materia, but I suppose there wasn’t much available in the OG Midgar. Also love how the weapons are not made redundant as soon as you buy the next one along. The buster sword is still viable to use in the last battle as it is the first.
All in all a superb first episode. I really hope they don’t make the rest into a cash cow and try to charge 40/50 per episode.
I love this game, taking from someone that’s just completed it, the music in game is so beautiful and fantastic and the story only covers midgar and I’m glad it does because it expands the lore and mystery in midgar with no padding. So much character development the characters are very faithful to the original game and the places from the original are faithfully recreated in the remake, the negative reviews the games has isn’t fair their just not happy it doesn’t have the full game in it which wasn’t possible anyway it would miss full sections of the original game if it was, the remake took me 63 hours to complete so it is a full complete more than worth it game, I just can’t wait for part 2.
Great game, as a lover of the original I like how you can see and interact with a living and breathing Midgar which wasn’t possible on the ps1. It’s well worth playing
Square Enix did not disappoint. I was reserved when I found out that SE would release in episodes, but, after playing the first episode it’s clear that the level of care, attention and passion they put into just a small slice of the game was extraordinary.
Yes, it’s not the whole game. If you didn’t know this before you got it, I guess I can understand your frustration. That said, if you’re a true fan then think of the long-term enjoyment you’re going to get, as this train is going to run for a long time and I for one am glad I’ve got a ticket.
It’s fun and the character interaction and more in depth scenes are pretty cool. Certain things hit harder. It’s pretty short and there’s not much to do once you’ve finished the story. I did it in 32 hrs, then all that was left was to do it again on hard mode, a little boring.
This game is just magnificent, you can see the blood sweat and tears that went in to this game at every stage. its visually stunning and a joy to play from beginning to end. I am a die hard fan of the original and am now a big fan of the remake project cant wait for the next chapter (going to be released in 5 chapters, which has been known for around 2 years) truly epic.
O jogo a bom preo, chegou a tempo, bem embalado e em excelentes condies!! Obrigada.
I didn’t know how I felt at first because there are definitely some big changes. But the game was fun. All in all I’d recommend it.
Awesome game. I loved the original when it came out. I hope the give VI a remake someday.
The copy I was sent had a broken case
Confezione perfetta, spedizione puntuale.
Venditore super consigliato.
Gioco fantastico a dir poco!
Fantastic PS4 game excellent graphics excellent story really fun highly recommended
Its European Though. Make sure you get an EU account if you want any DLC
Never seen such a great remake, graphics are phenomenal and great voice acting too, while keeping yhe essence and structure of the original game
Arrivato nei tempi giusti e sigillato. Il gioco in se carino, anche se sarebbe il caso di smetterla di far uscire i giochi ad episodi.
GOTY graphics are amazing , gameplay challenging overall buy for a great experience.
Brought this as a Christmas gift for my boyfriend he’s happy with the game! Speedy delivery over the Christmas period.
Biggest ff7 fan and this was just part 1 I sooooooo can’t wait for part 2…. What a game
Now I know why this is one of the best games ever made, thank you.
Finally fantasy 7 remake.. The original is one of the greatest JRPG’s of all time and the remake follows suit.
Amazing game, incredible quality visually and with gameplay. Really enjoying the story.
Amazing game, amazing price. I’ve been waiting forever to play part 1 of cloud strifes adventure, and can’t wait for part 2 to be remade some time in the near future!
Titolo fantastico. A differenza di tlou 2 la trama ha senso, i personaggi sono ottimi e il combat system bilanciato. Unica pecca il livello nella fabbrica che per qualche strano motivo tradizione dei jrpg e verso la fine cominci a saltare tutto per noia.
Another gift that went down well. Thanks for your service
As a FF lover, this made me happy. Came quickly and in perfect conditio
Don’t know = = =it is a Christmas gift for my Granddaughter.
Next day like it said. My other half will be very happy with this. Loves final fantasy and tried the trial of this and had to get i
I was exceptical about changing the old system of fighting by turns, however, the new dynamic mode is fun and harderd than you think. It test your abilities as a gamer and I love that. The graphics keeping the asthetics of the orignal game are awesome, the sound track and sound effects played with a home cinema is just a plesure for your ears. A masterpiece game.
War ein Geschenk fr meinen Partner… und er war sehr begeistert…. das er es sogar noch mal Spiel.
A fun remake. Great action game. Although the story can deviate Too much from the original. To the point of confusion and not being the same story.
I`ve been playing the ff games since #7 ,this clearly has the best graphics, very immersive experience ,i recommend i
Great product came quick and at a good price. I played the old game when it first come out and this one does not disappoint. Still grea
Uno dei remake cui vale la pena comprare.
Gameplay soddisfacente e variegato, storia ampliata rispetto all’originale(per quanto riguarda il primo terzo).
Great game, would give five stars but some of the fetch quests are childish and detract from the epic nature of the game.
good marketing you should to all user with game, give/sell the next 2 or 3 disks at a 9.99 , for loyalty.
Bought this for my girlfriend and she loves it. Definitely recommend.
5/5
Can’t wait for the next chapter in this series!
Brilliant, looks good would look better if it can run on Ps5 only hope.
Been waiting for this for the longest time! Game is everything I’ve imagined and more
A brilliant game.

Brought for my fiance for his birthday. Great price. Thank you
I originally had my doubts when this game was in development, but honestly it doesn’t disappoint.
Truly a must play you will not be dissatisfied
Great story, great combat and the best OST I’ve heard in a game in years
Absolutely brilliant!
Excellent game. Spent 50 plus hours happily reliving my teenage years in Midgar. Can’t wait for the follow up.
Das Spiel ist super, hat eine gute Grafikkarte habe es schon fter gespielt. Bin sehr zufrieden kann ich gut weiterempfehlen.
I can’t say it impacted my enjoyment of the game though.
absolutely amazing.
cannot wait for part 2.
amazing graphics and gameplay.
you will not be disappointed buying this game.
bravo bravo
Peace
Great game very enjoyable but the dialogue is a little awkward
Just got this can’t wait to play it now my weekend shorted
I love this game. I had the original game and talk about it a lot, so when this came out had to get it. we are enjoying it.
Superb! New game in its own rite with plenty of nostalgic touches.
