Excellent series but parcel arrived damaged
I ordered this, due to never ever seeing the series. Wasn’t disappointed. But the first parcel was completely decimated. With all disc holders completely smashed.
Had to request a replacement, that came intact.
It’s an excellent series. Maybe let down by a weak final season. But doesn’t detract from the rest.
Just a traditional Box Set. The Box contains 9 Blu Ray cases, 1-8 being the actual seasons, and the 9th containing Bonus Features of behind the scenes content.
Cases from Seasons 1-6 all have 4 Blu Ray discs each, whereas Season 7-8, including the Bonus Features, have 3 Blu Ray discs.
A good film
The Game of thrones is brilliant series all episodes are exciting to watch. You watch an episode you will want to watch the next one to see what happens next. It is a fantasy series dragons and people in battle not for the faint hearted strong bloody violence, and an army of the dead to contend with. The series is for adults to watch. I enjoyed the series brilliant. Value for money pleased with the purchase.
I was expecting issues with quality as it’s DVD. Blue Ray copy is much more and the UHD costs the same a second hand car.
On an expensive UHD player this DVD was upscaled quite well and great On a laptop, even for a DVD, the picture was shocking. It was trying to play quarter screen and only then was the picture acceptable. Full screen is a blurry mess.
Poor menu design, it some how prevented resume on the UHD player which is quite a pain. No scene select, very lazy really for a HBO famous title.
Commentaries were numerous and great.
Great quality well presented
As expected, top notch set. Only slight strange thing is on my Blu-ray player I had to change sound settings to find and play in ATMOS. All other discs I have auto play in ATMOS if it’s on the disc. Could be me, just seemed a bit odf
5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT
Watched it on Sky but had to own it and watch it again and again. Can’t wait for the Prequel
Far better then we thought it would be
Brought them as a gift never intending to actually watch them myself. Having ended up watching the entire series. I can say I was pleasantly surprised and found my self looking forward to each episode
Good series
Buying discs was cheaper than getting Sky and can watch them anytime I wa
Great series
Sound quality good although not much coming from rear speakers, not sure if blu ray hd, would not be just as good and a lot cheaper.
Arrived before due date
The dragon’s egg replica is beautiful, the dvds are awesome
Didn’t have the option to watch normally.
Rakuten put their prices up after series 3.
Guess what, it was still cheaper to buy the dvd full set, than purchase from Rakuten.
Glad I did, as wouldn’t have the extras. The background information is really well worth it.
Everything has already been said about this show. It’s iconic, violent, sexy and an amazing sprawling epic story spanning countless characters and locations. Did the story go off the rails a bit after season 6, perhaps but still thoroughly enjoyable even if a little dumb especially moments in Season 7.
Story aside then I am slightly disappointed, in upgrading from Blu-ray to 4K, I am actually getting an inferior product in terms of the special features. The Blu-ray discs had an, in-episode guide feature where, during the episode, you would get a prompt, for example when a new character appeared, and you could click on the prompt to learn a little about their background and their family history, in the middle of the episode. It’s missing from the 4K version which is pretty poor in my opinion.
I’ll still give it 5 stars for the quality of the show but a shame they didn’t take the time to include everything that was on the Blu-ray Discs.
Waited a long time for the price of this set to drop and Black Friday was the perfect opportunity to buy it with a 25% discount. Really love this series (even with the forgettable season 8) it’s easily one of the all time favorites. The box itself is really nice with good quality and the discs are lovely in 4K.
Quality product, well worth the money
Product game in perfect condition, on time. Picture quality is incredible, making an already beautiful show even more breathtaking to look at.
Loved GoT ending fell off but the rest of it was great, I would recommend you check all your disks i had to return this boxset due to some of the disk not wanting to play
5.0 out of 5 stars One of the bes
Simply an outstanding series. The last season isn’t even that bad despite the hysteria. It just didn’t match up to the preceding ones – but it’s still better than most other shows peak seasons
I was told that season 7 – 8 were a little rushed, but I have to disagree…they were equally brilliant to 1- 6 , and in honesty I binged watch this over the last 6 weeks and every seasons was great!!, Can’t wait to start watching HOD now….
I watched them all on the original TV run and I’m a huge fan. Read the books etc.
You all know what Game Of Thrones is and it’s still better than anything on TV since and now.
The visuals are crisp and stunning in 4K HDR.
The writing does get worse as they run out of material from the books but again it’s still better than almost anything else on TV. But the earlier series are certainly the best.
The ending is in my opinion is still good. I didn’t want a happy ending and the destruction wrought seems on point. But it is rushed for no apparent reason. The amount wrapped up in the final series seems odd when no one would have complained about another.
I come late to GOT not having watched it when it was on tv. I asked my son if it was worth buying the box set and he thought it was although he did say that the last series was a disappointment. I’m only on series 2 so far so these are early impressions.
In terms of production values, visuals, sound, effects this is all top class. Watching this on a UHD tv and with hifi sound is an impressive experience. Similarly, the acting is pretty good although I wouldn’t say there was anything outstanding.
Where I have some difficulties is the plot. I’m not sure that I have been made to care about what is going on. At the end of each episode, I’m not thinking that I can’t wait to see what happens next. I’m somewhat interested but, for example, I’ve not watched two episodes one after each other because I want to know what happens.
Then there is the content. The sex is unremarkable, although there are lots of very attractive bodies on view. I don’t think it does much for the plot, but I guess it will attract an audience. The violence is I think overdone. A lot of that could be suggested rather than being shown in gory detail.
So, in summary, I think this is pretty good and there is lots of it so it will keep the viewer entertained for a very long time. However, I don’t think it is a classic!
brilliant story, brilliant characters, excellently acted with tremendous performances from all the principal and supporting actors even down to some of the very minor roles. People have criticised how it concludes, but I suspect most of that was about it finishing rather than considering that there was a significantly better storyline. The end comes a bit quickly especially compared to the time that is taken setting the whole scene across the first six seasons. However, I suspect had it been done with more intrigue and extended further than people would have been complaining that it had become contrived.
Just finished binge watching this complete series a couple of nights ago. I can honestly say that I didn’t think that there was one bad season, or one season when the quality was just slightly off; each and every one gave us twists to the tale, taking you in directions you may not have anticipated. Yes, there is a lot of violence, but you would expect this as different people are vying for the throne. There is also a lot of nudity, especially female nudity. I have to admit that this was the one thing that I sometimes saw as unnecessary, but overall I can take it for what it is.
For me, what was the most important was the storytelling, and this series certainly knew how to tell a good story. Every character has so many layers to them; there were some who made me change my opinion of them, meaning that I was sometimes willing the ‘baddy’ to prosper. I wanted to know what happened to them all, the good, and the not-quite-so-good. I also thought that the ending was really clever: it may not satisfy everyone but I think that it ended things perfectly.
Around 8 years in the making George R.R. Martin’s ‘SONG OF ICE AND
FIRE’ became one of the most followed made for TV spectacles ever screened.
A compelling epic which overall would take some three-days of continuous viewing to
watch is for myself probably and there have been many a great series, this in my
favourite view.
If you last followed the series over 8 years like myself, you’ll remember some significant
moments overall watch again it will be as fresh and exciting as it was first time around.
The 4K boxset contains 33 discs, other than the 3 extra’s discs (Blu-ray) all are in 4K
only……The 4K visually is outstanding, the many, many special-effects benefiting greatly.
Adapted from the book-series entitled A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE by George R.R Martin
though in truth the final book had not yet been written, I do suspect the producers of
the epic probably expected it to be when they set out.
The final series came in for much criticism from many, overall it was indeed quite a
spectacle to watch. (am sure when and if George R.R.Martin does complete it willbe
very different)
A story of treachery, violence and deception coupled with scenes of a sexual nature
with nudity and indeed much strong language, coupled with many well staged battle
sequences.
The story is told from many angles which eventually come together.
From the outset a hint of the threat from ‘White-Walkers’ is evident which will increase
and intensify as the series builds.
Though there are indeed many characters included along the way from the seven kingdoms of Westeros the story centres upon the Starks from Winterfell in the north, we follow the fate of each including John Snow (Kit Harington) Ned Starks bastard son, along with Arya Stark (Masie Williams) and sister Sansa (Sophie Turner) and crippled brother Bran ( Isaac Hempstead Wright’)
And from Kings Landing in the South we follow in the main the fortunes of the Lannister’s
the outsider of the family, but probably the one with a brain Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) the calculating and tyrannical Cersei (Lena Headey) and king-slayer yet honourable Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau)
And from over the sea (Daenerys Targaryen (Emillia Clarke) mother-of-dragons who is determined to retake what had been stolen from her family Westeros and the seven kingdoms.
There are indeed dozens of key characters followed also worthy of a mention of course.
Although all armies appear to be rivals they will have to come together to have any chance of defeating the threat and staying alive against the vast Army of The Dead but will they all rally to the cause ?
A superior series worthy of a 4k investment to re-view or indeed watch for the first time.
Footnote – Fist time of viewing took over 8 years, this time around 15 days of intense viewing.
I love this box se
Love this box set is so good great series love i
Amazing Collectio
Brilliant set, nicely present and compact. The Blu rays thereselves are brilliant. I watched them the first time around on TV and rewatching them now and the quality of them is amazing! I am enjoying every minute of every episode and the quality of definition is amazing and would highly recommend getting this set for any GOT fan. It was worth every penny.
Only buy if you dont need sleep for a few weeks!
Great TV show. I waited until they had finished making them before buying the box set, and it was well worth watching.
I would advise you not to buy them if you like sleep, as it was a case of ‘Just one more episode’, until you realise the clock is showing 2am, and you really should goto bed!
Fantastic Series but poor quality picture.
I love this series and have watched it numerous times over the years. Had to buy the DVD set because it came with subtitles for my Hungarian girlfriend (although she speaks great English). Unfortunately unless the scene you’re watching is filmed in daylight the indoor scenes are far too dark especially as the DVD isn’t in HD.
Amazing in 4K; forget the nonsense about Season 8 ruining it!
This is the greatest series ever to grace the small screen. I was initially put off by the sometimes gratuitous sex in the early series (not because I’m prudish but because it was not necessary and put a lot of folks off watching this brilliantly written series, presented in an epic scale). It’s got giants, dragons and zombie dragons. What’s not to like. I got completely hooked and have now watched it through 4 times, and watched the Battle of the Bastards (Season 6 Episode 9) about 8 times. The Battle with The Night King, Season 8, Episode 3 is the greatest 1hr and 23mins on TV. Takes your breath away from start to finish and looks best (less dark) in 4K. Also, the idea that Season 8 is terrible is utter rubbish. Yes, The Dragon Queens’ character arc is rushed, although her vindictiveness instincts and refusal to listen to her advisors are quite clear in several episodes in earlier series. However Episodes 3 and 5 are in the top 10 of the best episodes of the whole GoT and they make up 35-40% of the series so how can it be that bad? And the other episodes in Series 8 are just fine, even if I did want someone else on the Iron Throne. Best watched on a 4K HDR OLED or QLED TV on an Oppo UHD player in 9.2 surround sound. The scenes in the snow with Bran and others next to the tree with red leaves just looks so amazing and clearly improves on the BluRay. Watch it.
Its Game of Thrones
Game of thrones complete series on blu ray. Enough said this is one of the greatest TV series ever made even if the ending wasnt what people wanted.
In fact the series has many endings all the way through it and Im waiting a while until I binge watch it all again.

A throne worthy steelbook collection.
I was very lucky to get myself a copy of this 4K GoT steelbook collection on Amazon France. It was the number one best seller on that day, supposedly it was sold out. I clicked ‘the GoT deal,’ on a 4K deal site, and it went to Amazon fr and asked me for payment. The order was accepted! Thankfully so, because at 105 this thing was the bargain of the year. There is a small, noticeable scratch on the outer steelbook holder which is disappointing, but the steelbooks are mint. I wasn’t gonna return it!
There is very little difference between the UK set and the French version. The steelbooks have English writing and all the menus are in English too. It’s only the discs that have a single word in French. It says Sasion instead of Season, but Episode and Bonus are in English writing, on the discs. The tiny episode booklet that comes with the set is in French sadly, but it’s very thin and not really needed.
The outer steelbook holder is solid, and beautifully designed with metallic debossed dragons. The episodes are in English, 4K HDR10, and surprisingly Dolby Vision, with Atmos, on the French set. If you can find this for a good price it’s a must have for your steelbook collection.
The only issue I have with it, is how easy the bottom of the steelbook holder scratches when its sitting on a shelf. I didn’t notice any scratches on the bottom of the set, when it arrived, now there are several. It could be sliding it off the shelf and putting it back on again. Or just the fact that the wooden shelf and steel holder will move slightly over time. Of course, in a darkened room it isn’t that noticeable but put the light on and there they are. Getting these things perfect is nigh on impossible. Keeping them that way, is difficult too.
Fantastic
All game of thrones in one package what’s more to like
Brilliant until the final episode
A wonderful tale of love, passion and intrigue spoiled only by the almost dead stop in the final episode which left me stunned at such a depressing end to such a rich and powerful story. The army outside for the last battle was barely adequate to storm Tesco’s for a discount day let alone defeat anything else.An embarrassingly uncaring conclusion to an otherwise outstanding series.
Replacement (Previous Wouldn't Play Series 3 Episodes 9/10) Now Cracked Cases Check Discs
The series itself is fantastic, at least as far as to series 3 episode 8! – We had to discontinue watching and request a replacement as the previous boxset had disc errors from series 3, disc 5, episodes 9/10 and there after.
My experience of Amazon has always been that of no issue with a replacement/exchange but on this occasion it was unfortunate that the exact boxset we first ordered 1-7 was not available and therefore had to replace with boxset 1-8 and therefore had to pay an extra 16 ( which seems unfair as we already have a copy of series 8 available to us).
This replacement arrived late yesterday and I was not pleased to find that the cases are cracked and broken -I had seen the reviews that warned of this but accidents can and do happen was my thinking, it is indeed strange that Amazons packaging was adequate and that as these are shrink wrapped, I fail to see of any way other than at manufacturer stage- could they end up in such a state.
After having much trouble with disc errors with Marvel Phase 1 boxset ( 3 replacements and always same errors or worse always within Iron Man 2) we gave up and in the end settled for a refund.
If disc errors are on this boxset then we will return it and not exchange for another (will purchase as a download or even checkout the likes of CEX) as it is ridiculous but if there are no errors on the discs we will keep despite the broken cases/packs.
Good for more than just the story
My main reason for this purchase was to improve my foreign languages, and it’s absolutely brilliant for this purpose. It’s the French and German that interest me, but all the episodes are also in Spanish and Italian. What an entertaining way to improve ones foreign language ability.

brilliant!
yes its a little expensive and yes you can find it on most streaming sites but the sheer amount of quality and entertainment included is immense. its almost inevitable that you will need to watch it all more than once (at least) and to have it available when you feel the need is a bonus, it is probably in a niche but of a far better standard than any others of the same ilk

I’ll just briefly review the quality of the product rather than the superbly epic content as surely everybody will know how good that is by now.
They’ve managed to fit 38 DVDs into 8 standard-sized DVD cases (one case per series). Six cases house 5 discs each, and two of them hold 4. Many discs include extra documentaries, etc, in addition to commentaries, language options and subtitles in various languages. Even though I’m English I prefer to watch with English subtitles on as some of the dialogue can be a bit muted and indistinct, or drowned out by loud battle scenes for instance, even through a loud 5.1 system, and many of the strange references (such as character and place names) are easier to follow if you can see them written down. The rest of the soundtrack is very well executed and faultless, as are the graphics.
I waited until the price had dropped significantly before buying, so it was less than 1.70 per disc.
I’m sure this set will be watched over and over.
Rather baffled by all the negativity around Season 8 – the series starts superbly and gets better with each season, culminating in a mind-boggling series of episodes that are choreographed to perfection. The characters never lose their credibility and complexity and the ending is deeply satisfying. This really is a series that is perfectly cast with stand out performances from Peter Dinklage, Kit Harington, Lena Headey and Maisie Williams plus a host of recognisable thesps in various bit and more than bit parts. And dragons. One warning – watching this makes other “epic TV” pale in comparison. Don’t listen to the naysayers – this is utterly must watch and will take some bettering.
Great prese
Great Christmas presents. Arrived safely and well packed. Perfect for any fans of the series
I blame George, and so should you.
In all honesty, this is the best of whatever came out of Jackson’s ‘Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. I watched Season 1 and was so enamoured by I that I read the novels. As the Series followed everything fell into what I remember from the books.
Except, the finale, which for all intents and purposes was a major letdown. It was.
I don’t blame the series showrunners who’ve taken much of the brunt of the finales failings, but the author himself, George RR Martin.
I don’t need to repeat myself that when the series started, HBO hoped that the other books would be in place in 5/6 years time. Sadly not.
George RR Martin was too busy enjoying the highlife to finish off the books and give this series a proper ending.
It seems that he told the show runners the basic idea/conclusion and they had no way but to just end it. Period.
The final season(s) is a letdown considering the investment fans put into it. After the initial viewing no doubt it all makes sense but there is nothing as complex in-between to make it a coherent whole.
George RR Martin told them how he thinks he’ll end it and end it it did. Don’t blame the showrunners, blame George!
A must watch
One of the all time best series on TV, i have bought the boxset to binge watch again!
