Really good game. If Samurais are your thing, you will love this.
Ok…. Wow…. this Game is AMAAAZING…
I have bought it 3 times as gifts and never really bothered, but I got it and since I’ve got it I’ve ran all 5… yes 5 controllers dry of battery life… so now I’m dancing on the spot waiting for them to charge for another 13 hour bout…. I think my husband is about to divorce me…. so….
The game is Stunng the visuals are fantastic (I’m play PS4 Pro) you can see beads of sweat to tiny blood spatter when destroying your enemies… I like the fact you can go all guns blazing and Challenge groups of Mongols or stealthily wipe them out…. but be warned some are more challenging especially camp leaders… you can watch them and learn or just kill the B*****ds… which ever you like.
If you’re thinking of getting this game, STOP!! thinking and buy it, you wont be disappointed… and if you are then there’s no pleasing you….
I really really enjoyed this game! It has similarities to AC Odyssey and Witcher 3, two others I’ve enjoyed (and Far Cry types). It’s a story driven open world explorer with interesting combat and yet, peaceful serene moments. Plus, it’s a beautiful world to explore with fields of grasses and woods of all sorts of colours. Occasionally our protagonist whilst riding will lean down to glide his hand through the grass at a canter – a lovely touch.
The real beauty of this game is, other than some key moments for the story, it doesn’t demand how you play it. Want to relive Tenchu and sneak around everywhere assassinating? Crack on. Want to stand and fight in glorious combat? Go for it. How about sniping as an archer? All yours.
The skills trees are 90% yours to upgrade in direction such as swordsmanship or (speak the word quietly) ninja magic! By magic, I mean tools and tradecraft – there is no magic. Ninja is never expressly said in the game but if you’re playing it you’re thinking it and really you’re looking for a black costume to put on to make it so visually.
Some missions will demand sneaking, archery or frontal assault though, so you cannot ignore those tactics. Combat I found enjoyable(played on hard), challenging at times – especially early on, and at latter points when new enemies arrive and use new weapons or patterns. It felt smooth and controlled- no hacking or slashing. Sometimes the array of options made it difficult to remember how to find a particular weapon; right trigger opens stances and thrown weapons (plus fire sword much later), left trigger thrown tools, bows (2) and blow pipe. Bows have different ammo and uses. There’s also sword moves on R1+L1 and L3+R3 and circle and square. All that said I did enjoy combat and was able to use a variety of tactics to overcome enemies in amongst my sword strikes.
Assassination was straightforward but I’d like to have seen some different animations, such as in Tenchu or Halo (I forget – was it 3 or 4 or something else). It got a little similar but once weapons upgraded they were quite swift.
Mercifully this isn’t a climbing game. There is some but it’s mostly straightforward, and unless you really want to find everything not too tricky to find paths.
In a lot of other open world games I’ve often felt its much a lot of; Go here, collect this, carry it here. I didn’t get that with this and can’t put my finger on it. Maybe there were more fights involved.
Penultimatly, I want to say this isn’t all about rushing around solving problems. The game encourages our character to find hot springs and take relaxing baths, meditating on events. There are also Haiku to be written, moments where he puts down his sword and reviews his surroundings to craft a poem. The character can bow and play a flute. The game wants you to pause and relax.
The game could do with more wildlife. There are birds all around but mostly they take off nicely, circle points of interest if you’re looking out for them, or just 2 breeds are relevant in the game. Little yellow ones guide you to obscure things, enemies have birds of prey as lookouts. The land mammals are largely irrelevant and easily despatched. I’m not saying I want to be bitten by snakes or chased but there are only pigs(not big enough to be boar), bears, deer and dogs. I saw lots of fishing, don’t recall seeing fish. The game instead is about the visuals and colours of the landscapes, which do change in different locations.
Finally the duels. I loved the duels. One on one, just swords or whatever the enemy had, a statement piece of cinematography to setup and then fight to the death. I felt that they were a great boon to the game and leant to the variety of things going on, as the ultimate challenge in swordsmanship.
And I couldn’t end without mentioning the ending. I loved it. I bought into it. It encapsulated the game, the story, the characters, and I was engrossed. A feast for the eyes and manna for the spirit.
I’m an older gamer and had pretty much lost interest in Playstation games. I seem to only enjoy FarCry games and get bored of anything else quite quickly. I found Red Dead boring, Last of Us tedious and the Assassins Creed games very repetitive. Maybe it’s an age thing!
I bought this for my 17 year old son and when he completed it he suggested I have a go as he thought I’d enjoy it.
And he was right. For me it’s as close as you can get to a perfect game. I like open world, roam where you want, combat using stealth. I appreciate this is not everyone’s cup of tea. This game is glorious graphic wise and the gameplay is almost perfect.
The only minor niggle would be the collection of headbands, hats and Pillars of Honor that offer no real enhancement to your character other than changing his appearance. The constant thunder and rain and having to play the flute to clear the weather gets on ones nerves especially as you need to do it constantly.
But these are very minor niggles that don’t take anything away from what is a very accomplished, tour de force Playstation game.
Great game bought for my brother in law for Christmas and he’s been on it everyday since
Loved every second of it!!! And it took me 64 hours to 100% the game! Totally worth the price and time, graphics are quality, story line is good, playing a samurai in old Japan was so much fun!!
Overall the game was good – smooth game play, large open world, enjoyable story line. I didn’t find Jin, the main character, super likeable though. I felt like a lot of the side quests were some variation on “I heard someone talking bad about me in another village! Let me go set them straight!!”
Overall fun though. It’s a really long game so if you are into that, like I am, it’s a good choice.
I really liked the poetical moments like creating a haiku or roaming the stunningly beautiful open World of Tsushima . The main quest : Liberation of Tsushima from the Mongols and the intertwined personal story /developement of Jin was well paced and engaging as were the side quests (I ended up doing every single one ). The extra downloadable content was well worth the money . For me the gaming experience was on par with horizon zero dawn.
Brilliant game, spent many hours playing this. Didn’t try the multiplayer legend mode as that doesn’t interest me. I wish there were more games like this (that I haven’t already played). Five stars. Only trivial quibbles: the walking pace is a bit too slow and he’s a bit reticent to speed up to jogging speed without pressing R3 to spur him into a run. The charms were confusing, I quickly ran out of charm slots and must have ended up with hundreds of charms by the end of the game, not sure what use they were. Final quibble, my left thumb is as sore as hell and calloused from playing this game! Quibbles aside this was a very enjoyable and immersive game. The game ended unexpectedly, but after the credits went up I was allowed to carry on and finish off the outstanding missions and Mongol camps and unknown locations. Pretty much ran out of invaders to kill by the time I called it a day.
Trs bon scnario, trs bon jeu, je me rgale !!!
I’ve purchased the game for my daughter’s PS4 game console for her birthday this past November and she loves i
Ghost of Tshushima gehrt definitiv in eine Sammlung..

This is a wonderful game with a good story and amazing visuals . You can see the games that have influenced the creative team ( Horizon Zero Dawn , Witcher 3 for example) .
Enjoy
Great fun game which is an art piece to explore to enjoy the scenery and feudal Japanese culture. Great combat mechanics that are fun both when doing the samurai direct approach as well as the excellent stealth ninja style mechanics. The gameplay is smooth and well polished. Story and charachters are interesting and well done even side quests. The collectibles and other misc stuff are actually fun and engaging here as well.
This is the best game I have played this year. Great atmospherics.
Great game and great visuals. Its a work of art!
This game is one of the few games that in my opinion makes a Ps4 worth owning
