Note: WiFi Alexa function works only when the camera is plugged in and only support 2.4G WiFi
1. Please make sure that your WiFi connection procession was done in the Govee Home app.
2. Kindly note that if you have multiple smart devices, it’ s recommended to rename them with different names at first.
Important Note:
1. When ambient light or a reflection is seen on the TV and captured by the camera, there will be some color difference. Therefore, using it in a dark environment can lead to more accurate color detection.
2. An adapter is used to power the light bars, and the light bars don’t support USB power, so they can’t be turned on and off at the same time as the device.

I’m really pleased, easy to set up and install, great on a 42 inch tv
I got these a couple of weeks ago. They’re so good I’ve bought another for the kitchen tv. They’re not as bright as I’d like them to be,but in general they’re really good. Response to colour changes on the video setting is pretty quick. But even when tv is off they can be used as just a backlight in numerous colours. Better than a boring lamp. I give them 8/10 only due to wishing they were brighter but they do the job at half if not more of the cost of Phillips
They come back on video once turned off and on. Best on game mode and saturation at 90.
And segmented light for films. Use utube video instead of sticker pads.
The glue for the camera and rear holders is VERY strong. I have the camera on the bottom.
Worth the money glad I took a risk as my tv is 43 Inch and know no eye strain watching in the dark with great affec
I absolutely love these govee light bars!..
I currently now have 3 sets of these p1’s,… and I’ll definately buy another set That’s how good these are 🙂 im just waiting to grab another discount voucher before I make another purchase as 76quid is a bit steep considering you can virtually get the same for around 30-50 mark but odviously not govee. But from another manufacture that does the same thing as you can see on amazon.. But now govee has now built a very good reputation, and is very popular on the lighting scene.. as always, You tend to pay a premium.. But overall I cant fault this model. I did also just buy the daddy model or so I thought… the G1 Pro! This was gonna be for my gaming setup, but I had alot of performance issues, it just wasnt tracking colours as good as the flowbars.. I also had some quality control issues so I immediately sent it back, and got another set of these! They are absolutely fantastic! I do plan on buying a very lot more of these govee products type products in the future! As I love the fact that this company are always trying to improve on the desighn.. and they seem to actually listen to customers opinions and inputs, and they begin to implement these new features on customers wishes! TOP WORK GOVEE 🙂 if I can have 1 input myself that maybe could be implemented in a future update.. this would be, being able to turn of the adaptive brightness feature in video mode within the settings. So that you could have the back lights brighter than the tv panel because at present, to make the back lights brighter! You have to turn off energy saving settings on your tv to make the backlights brighter.. this isn’t good for the environment or electricity consumption.. as with any sort of energy saving feature on the tv, your backlights will be very dim as they match the screen brightness of the tv.. it would be nice to have all energy features on the tv and still have the flow lights bars be bright enough, or brighter than on screen.. as at present I can not see or find this feature..
Also in the video mode setting, the brightness is around half of the other modes such as colour, music effects etc.. come on govee I know you can fix this in a feature update 🙂
I have a 55″ TV, which is bigger than the recommended size for the system, but it just about fits. It’s an impressive & emersive bit of kit. You can see a slight delay on fast transitions, but for the price (& given the technology) I can’t complain. Static mod lighting & music visualisations are good too.
If you’re looking for a lightning effect for your TV at a decent price this does the job.
It even works reasonably effectively on a TV that is too big for the specifications. My TV is 65″ and while the camera cannot capture the whole TV in the configuration phase the lightning for me is satisfactory.
I find it works really well for action and when there are bright flashes as it really emphasises them.
I have integrated it with Google Home and it works quite happily.
I have the sticky strip of LED lights and wanted something more aesthetic and that looked nicer and these lights do that job perfectly, look so much nicer than that strip and are much kinder on the eyes and don’t give me headaches.
Setting up the camera with the tv and the app was easier than I expected it to be and it was well worth it as you can see from the video.
The app gives you so many options and preselected colours with the ability to completely customise each section of each bar allowing you to do rainbows and any colour combination you want. There’s also moving scene lights like police siren that are really fun to play with.
It is very tempting to now buy the whole lighting set as the app gives you the ability to control all of them at once.
The video function for movies and video games is outstanding and it’s very Cyberpunk, so watching cyberpunk videos and games is just *chefs kiss*.
I like how you can move them around and it gives you multiple ways to display them with the mounts and stands. You can move these around with the stands and put them wherever you want, or you can mount them to the back of the tv or the wall with the tv mount.
These lights are bright but they aren’t overpowering, it’s the perfect amount of brightness in my opinion. They aren’t as bright as the LED strip lights but I think if they were that bright it would be too distracting from the TV. They’re definitely more soft and not harsh.
Govee lights are really high quality and I’d highly recommend because they have all the functions of Hue without the hefty price tag, I bought these on prime day so they were even more value for money.
I think these lights are the best thing I’ve bought so far this year. Makes movie and gaming nights more of a thing and more special. Highly recommend you won’t regret i
Obviously with any other light coming through it will not have the same affect but it was easy to setup and the calibration worked great. Can’t wait to watch some Star Wars tonight when it’s dark.
Ok, so who wants to spend loads of money on the Philips system?? Right it’s a bit gimmicky…but I really like it, and it works on a bigger screen than it says, for the money go for it.
These lights are amazing stuck them behind my 55inc tv ther very bright great colours and with the camera on my TV its great how thay change colours too what’s on screen you carnt go wrong with govee number one in my book for led lights
Love these make a massive difference when watching movies and gaming
It is easy to uae and very easy to install, would recommend over expensive brands
These light bars are great, but the camera is pants and really doesn’t need to be included.
This is the only negative to the product, I currently have the light bars integrated into my stream deck which allows for easy switch on and off and colour changing as and when needed.
I would absolutely recommend these over the Hue setup as they are half the cost and personally I prefer them.
I initially got these to use with our TV in the lounge, but needless to say, as soon as my youngest son saw them he wanted them for his gaming PC, so that is where they went.
My son found them really easy to set up and had them up and running much quicker than I would have been able to do it and unlike some of the reviews here, he didn’t appear to have any issues with the colours displayed behind his monitor.
The only issue he had really was when he took them with him to uni, the WiFi was a bit spotty, so he had issues related to connection, rather than the product itself.
The lights have a great range of colours hues and really add an extra air of atmosphere to the room… I am hopeful that my son will actually install them on the TV when he comes home from uni!
Poor quality connecting to Alexa, go for the Phillips Hue ones, twice as expensive but they actually work with Alexa. I’ve tried everything but these are great quality lights, no faults there, you just need to manually turn them on which is fine but advertised as Alexa friendly, not on my Alexa. Lol
My TV looks way more futuristic now, the background lights really make the movie watching experience a lot better. I love them when playing games too, improves the immersion. The tracking camera does not get in the way at all. Totally recommend it!
I ditched my Philips hue in favour of this. The first thing you will notice is how much better the light bars are than the hue equivalents. It also includes an adapter to connect to Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. If you do have trouble connecting to Wi-Fi make sure the encryption is set to WPA2 on the 2.4ghz band as it will not work with WPA3.
The weak point of the set up is the camera. It has no flexibility or adjustability so isn’t a good fit for LG televisions such as the CX because to how thin the panel is. I ended up using one of the included orange cubes to stick to the back of the screen to give the camera something to rest on. I also used blue tack to fix it in place as the adhesive on the camera has barely anything to stick to on my television. These issues are really easy to address and I would go as far to say the camera is not compatible with the LG CX screen.
The second blip with LG CX televisions is the HDMI ports are located at the ideal location where you would want to attach these to the back of the screen. I managed to fit my ones just above the HDMI ports, on the curved bit, but this means only some of the adhesive is connected to the back panel. The bars are very light though and I doubt they will drop off. The adhesive is really strong and almost pulled of the back panel when I tried repositioning them. You might want to use a spirit level to make sure your bars are straight.
Overall it’s very good and does a better job than the hue in every way, and for a lot less (to be clear these are better than the hue equivalents, and not just better because they are more appropriately priced). My only suggestion for improvement would be for the camera to have more options for placement and positioning (maybe even a way to adjust the length of its neck), spare adhesive pads in the box and for the app to support Wi-Fi 6 security.
Marked down the Alexa integration as I don’t use it however the rest is great!
Good lights.
They go pretty bright and are customisable on the app.
A bit expensive but cheaper than other brands and just as good.
I found the instructions for set up rather vague and it took some frustrating fiddling on my mobile phone to get it set up. That said when it was set up it works and it works well, changes colour with the TV screen/picture and for the most part does a good job. It has made my 4K movie viewing even better. As for Alexa I don’t have it so I cant comment but gave it 3 stars as that as near middle of the road.
Got the govee ‘bars’ as opposed to the strips (as my TV is 40″)…must say i’m really impressed don’t know whether its up to Philips Ambilight standard, there is a slight half second delay and the colour replicated isn’t always accurate, but as an alternative and esp if you want to keep your existing Telly its a great puchase, i highly recommend it.
Expensive to be honest but I love it. Works great for what it is and adds a really nice effect behind your monitor!
Brilliant lights, and alot cheaper than the Phillips hue , I have both and theres literally no difference
Once you set them up properly, they work very well. My 13-year-old sister managed to do it by herself which is saying something. After getting the right angle it does provide some light but it’s that kind of gamer light it’s not really going to brighten the room. But it is nice gaming light and maybe even accent ligh
Added to the immersion, adds to the experience when watching movies
They are really nice with very bright colours and good colour accuracy on the video mode. Only issue is you can’t have them too close to the screen otherwise the colour gets into the camera and the colours are no longer correct. Overall another great product from Govee
Easy to assembled with multiple options for fitting and good overall ambient ligh
Great product at a sensible price. A multitude of installation options, giving loads of ways to achieve the result you require. All controlled by a simple to use phone app.
Tried the cheaper LED tape but the light output from this is so much better. Use this on the rear of out 55″ tv onto a white wall to add an ambilight style effect. Ended up not using the camer and have it set on the preset patterns that slowly change colour.
Lights are brilliant however there is one downside to the product, the sticky pads that are provided did not stay on my TV so I’ve ended up taping them on to my TV, for 60 I didn’t expect this to be the case, kinda disappointed but other that that the light work great.
These are agreat addition to the govee family… versatile and affordable… while philips might be the ‘apple’ premium price range … these are your friendly everyday goods… well worth the investment…
I thought I’d give these a try as reasonably priced, I’m impressed very easy to set up, although I did have to move the bars around to get the best immersion experience, I found worked best with the bars attached to the TV. Tons of different settings and if you use the camera you can control with Alexa which I love saves me searching for phone. I would recommend.
Looks nice a bit untidy all the cables tho behind tv issue here see pic camera hard to position on thin oled as bad design sticky part to balance it need a swivel camera on next model so wld be easier to position camera if cld swivel i
Easy to set up and enhances T.V. viewing. The light bars mimic the colours on screen and set to project on wall behind the T.V.
Works best in darkness with no other room lights on, otherwise the camera picks up a lot of red/orange.
Arrived next day and been using everyday. Works very well with Alexa.
Happy customer.
I have one privacy concern with the mandatory requirement for the camera to be connected. I know it is used to calibrate the unit for a TV, though this unit will be attached to a computer as that will be used in place of a TV. We shall see how it goes when everything is attached and setup.
Love these lights. They are just the right brightness and create a really nice atmosphere. Really easy to control and look really stylish. I’m really impressed with these and so will you be. Great value.
Easy to setup and super easy to use.
Amazing price for the value of the item
Excellent product – had a bit of an issue with set-up but but contacted Govee via their app. Excellent service, and advice from Claire that I feel I must pass on.
My initial problem was that the lights did not change with the screen – it remained a yellow/gold colour. The solution from Claire was quite simple. ‘Decrease saturation to nearly 10% first, and move the White Balance slider to the Blue side’ ……sorted [See pictures]
Easy set up ,well packed great edition to your cinema room or Gaming set up highly recommended for that sweet touch to the atmosphere in your room
Amazing product that definitely brings the light immersion into your movies and games.
Awesome bit of kit simple to set up, a bit expensive but worth the spend, looks great on the TV
These are brilliant!
After setting it up they work a charm, effectively reproducing the colours that the sensor picks up on the TV. MY only issue is it doesnt seem to be too accurate when watching a real TV show – not cartoon. The colours tend to just sit on yellow and green in this situation.
However when playing Games or watching cartoons, this thing is brilliant!!
Easy setup, very sticky pads work very well. Would buy again..
4.5 Stars seems fairer than 4!
I bought this solely for ambient/bias/immersion lighting when watching films etc. My comments below do not apply to the other modes which offer all sorts of bright and well saturated effects. I do not have the ‘matching’ LED strips to compare colour etc. My bars are currently sited behind my screen for bias lighting.
There’s anough been said both here and on YT about this and I have to agree it’s very, very good… but I have never had anything to compare it to.
The colours are, for the most part, pretty good. Setup was easy, though I wish the leads were not hardwired into the back of the bars – this made siting everything more hassle than it could have been and I can’t imagine it making much difference to manufacturing costs. I put the camera underneath so as not to be distracting and it works just as well. The recent update that controls white balance is absolutely essential – particularly if the walls behind the bars are not pure white. I find the output colour matches the screen action best with Brightness at 75% Saturation very low (10%ish).
Reds are still a little overblown, but then red LEDs tend to be brighter anyway. This results in skin tones being displayed as too saturated even when turned way down. This is still the case when the White Balance is set too the cool end of the slider. When the Brightness control is moved, it does seem to change the colour balance so getting a good match does take some trial and error before you settle on what’s acceptable to your eyes. Individual Brightness, Saturation and Colour Balance between the bars would be useful.
Overall I am very happy and would definately purchase further Govee items.
Lovely addition to watching TV although I’m still getting used to trying to work them!
Didn’t know what to expect from these, but qith bei g the pro lights I expected them to be brighter. Expensive for what they are, but son loves them
Lights are bright but once they’re placed on the back of tv they lose some effect. Still looks good and really easy to set up and use
Absolutely stunning lights, set up was really easy, they work well with alexa and I’ve got the lights matched really well to the colour of the screen now – one thing I recommend doing is updating the white balance on the Govee app. I done this by putting a white screen on using YouTube and matching the white lights to this. Since doing this the tuning of the lights has been perfect. Even bought my parents a set for Christmas I’m so chuffed with them!
Easy to set up and works really well on a 55inch TV. Even though is states up to 45inch there is no issues on the 55inch. Very pleased with it and is very accurate with colour detection. Well worth the money. Also works well with Alexa
Ordered thinking I would not work due to using a 2 metre projector screen. Took a while to setup but thats due to sorting out the wiring. Extended the camera cable using a USB extender as its very short but works great. Lamps could do with longer wires as they are too short and cannot be extended.
Overall, great addition to a movie. Really pleased with the end result.
The matching of screen display to lighting depends upon having the correct and sufficient angle to capture the central screen. This can mean titling the camera much further down and at an angle in order for it to work well with on screen colours.
The head of the camera should be adjustable. The camera is part of one moulded plastic unit, so if you need to tilt the camera down you have to tilt the whole unit down, this means it’s quite precariously balanced although the 3M sticky material is strong.
It’s easy to set up. I don’t know about longevity etc as I only recently purchased it. I use Philips Hue throughout the house but their TV lighting solutions are in my opinion unrealistically priced.
It works and adjusts quickly and smoothly to onscreen colours. There are a lot of options in the app so you can control colours, saturation, brightness and the lights dint have to respond to the TV they can be set to anything you like in the app.
Overall first impressions are good. I’m using it on a 27 inch gaming monitor and it works very nicely with Cyberpunk 2077 and it’s rich vibrant colour palette. I can only get the device to work with a relatively steep angle for the camera, it is over the screen to a degree but as it’s top and centre I haven’t found it intrudes on the screen content, others may find that unacceptable but for me I don’t notice it so much.
There is a red bias because it records black as red. I imagine they had to choose a colour to represent black and they chose red which is ok for me. I turn down the saturation and brightness on the lights anyway as I don’t want them taking over what’s on screen, so it’s only a soft red glow. If you like deep saturated colour and 100 percent brightens on the lights then you will have red light when the centre screen is predominantly black.
Really pleased with the Govee Flow Pro lights they are everything I wanted and more. Completely transform the room with the TV on or off and add a nice level of immersion when settling in for a good movie or even a gaming session.
I use them mounted on the back of a 50 inch TV at the moment (see photos) Not technically what they are designed for, as Govee suggest using them on smaller monitors or by the side of TVs, but that’s how I get the best out of them for my current set up. I’ll also include a video that could answer anyone who is wondering how effective they actually are being used in this way.
Originally I just wanted some simple bias lighting for improving contrast and reducing eyes strain etc whilst watching tv and playing games on a 50 inch TV without having to have the main lights on, but I really struggled to find anything small enough size wise, and long enough cable wise to fit the space behind my TV without installing a long string of LEDs, which I simply did not want to do at this moment. I toyed with the idea of using a small lamp, or light bar, but finding one that worked in my set up was a pain, until I stumbled on Govee. The Flow Pro light bars looked like they were slim enough to fit, and had a long enough cable to reach, and I was happy enough with that and I bought them.
At first I did not care that it had a camera, and a bunch of features and colour choices, but after the easy installation (love the mounting options with a pair of brackets for monitor mounting, and some separate desk mounting holders included – they just slot in so easily) and getting the desired result of the bias lighting I wanted, I was free to experiment.
The main feature that I do use now is the camera calibrated video mode where you can get the colours changing based on what is on screen (see video), either as full screen or a split screen effect. Obviously it’s not as advanced as a full set of LEDs that surround the whole back of the TV with multiple lighting zones, but I still really like having it on, and prefer it to having just the basic cool white bias lighting for Movies, epic TV series and even some games.
With the TV off is when having access to all the. Colours is also a big plus. It just looks so much nicer to have your room or wall lit up in any colour you like depending on your mood.
There’s also music and party effects, but I don’t particularly use those with the lights sat behind my TV.
I must mention the app too, fairly easy to use if you have your smart phone to hand, everything you need is on screen and with a pretty much instant reaction time to the lights most of the time.
All in all a really good product for the price.
A few minor issues: as I don’t mount the camera fully it has to be recalibrated and sometimes it can be a little bit off, but that’s kind of user related as I keep tinkering with camera placement because I personally don’t want to mount it to the top of my TV, and the bottom of the TV has the RF signal and power button so I can’t mount it there. (Blu tac is your friend though if you have space under the TV like me for mounting on another surface)
(The following statement is no longer an issue since an update where you can adjust colour tuning to achieve a more green lighting effect during live sports)
{{{{Void}}}} Sometimes grass scenes can come up a bit yellow looking, so I wouldn’t use the camera feature for watching football or NFL, for example. I’m guessing it’s because it’s never a solid green, grass is lots of shades, plus the artificial lighting from floodlights and the white markings, but I don’t know, it’d be nice if grass registered as green on the flow pro but I tend to set the light bars to the team colours for sports anyway{{{{Void}}}}
Check out the pics and videos (I can only add one video apparently) and I hope they can give you an idea of how these look and whether these lights are for you or not.
Now the only problem left is what other govee products to get! Especially as they are beta testing a feature called “highlight” where the camera included with the flow pro can control other govee device colours, meaning you can light all around your room with lighting zones to match different sections of your screen. Basically, I now need to find the best combination of govee products to engulf myself in immersive lighting ha ha.
_____________
Pictures included are of some regular bias lighting that enhances TV contrast, some of the colour examples to show how pure the colours can be, the camera, the TV mounts and the control box, and the flow pro bars fully mounted on the TV. Video of The Mandalorian, with the light bars reacting to on screen colours.
Edit: Video added. Update on Green calibration for live sports etc
This is good light for the price. Sync screen colour works realy good. How ever you only can use Alexa for limited control. App is best way to use. Some time the camera disconnected but easy to fix.
This is a fun product and works very well when setup properly. Using a phone/tablet to setup software was a little tricky but once setup works every time. I switch it on with Alexa which is good. There are many modes of use and all have distinct colours and patterns, for TV I found the Video and split option to work the best, as a bonus the disco lights feature is very good. The light bars are very bright and easy to place, overall like the product felt good quality, cannot speak for how long it will last but so far so good.
Best black Friday deal I gave bought recommend to anyone
This Govee light bar kit is brilliant.
Works best in a dark room but still works good with other lights on.
Works with Alexa, and you can set up routines with Alexa. “Alexa movie time” and the light bar works perfectly when watching tv, or movie.
Even better when they are on offer.
I have them set up on my 65″ tv.
I have Philips hue light bars too but Govee is much better and more than half the price of Philips hue.
* Adhesion good
* brightness good
* easy to use
* lots of features to play around with.
* able to set a timer for mornings/evenings for moods etc.
* Can set saturation from high to low (start with lower settings)
* Use Kanyes “All of the lights” video to test out video settings (unless you’re epileptic, STAY AWAY from that specific video!)
* overall very happy and very impressed.
10 out of 5 stars
Not that bright, and software is slow – but it as good Alexa integration….
Good choice of colours and themes are the redeeming factor.
Great product. Really happy with it.
Some nitpicks: occasionally during a scene which is mainly static (e.g. a strategy game or menu screen) the sensor can’t decide which colour to go with and it flickers; just pick one! Also my TV has a curved back which is textured (y u do dis S*msung?) and adhesion isn’t great, I’ll need to figure that out. I may try the stands and see if that’s any good, but really wanted the bars on the TV.
But overall this is great. It really adds some atmosphere to the room and makes my TV wall look less bare.
I bought these for my boy to have in his gaming set up and they are fool proof
Was not quite sure how good this would be but after setting up (which was very easy) I was amazed how well it worked and made watching films in the dark much more engaging.
Very happy and well worth buying!
Everything was great about the lights, i just couldn’t easily get Alexa working with these lights which is a bit annoying! (Still isn’t working for me)
Just managed to get these setup on my living room TV. I’ve attached a video of them lighting up a few minutes of gaming.
Pros:
They work well.
Price is great.
Future proof… I.e. they work with anything, playstation, Netflix, TV, any image on the screen at any resolution and any frame rate.
Alexa integration to turn them on and off and control the brightness and colours.
Bottom mounted camera is unobtrusive
Govee home app is easy to use.
They can lights up to music and also there is a setting to have them react to TV sound as well as pictures.
Cons:
A little tinkering is needed to calibrate I had to adjust the saturation down to 20% and move the calibration points on the calibration screen inwards a little from the edges to get the best effect.
Camera bracket doesn’t fit all TV’s (especially slim ones). But you can rig something to mount it on easy enough if you’re practical. Mines blutaked to the stand.
You need a 2.4ghz WiFi network, 5ghz isn’t supported.
These lights are great for creating ambience surrounding the TV. I set them up on the TV in our spare room. The pieces to the system are: two lights, the camera, a control box unit, and a mains adapter plug. The parts are all cabled, so rather less neat than they’re made to appear in the product images which show no cabling at all coming out of the lights. The cables are easy to set up — each of the parts has a different connector type, so there’s no way to get this wrong.
I’m not overly keen on the camera mount method — this has an adhesive pad to stick it to the screen surround and just one pad is included with the system. I think the camera is quite intrusive when top mounted, but although in principle it can be either top or bottom mounted to monitor the screen, I didn’t have a choice about this as the TV I was setting this up on already has a sound bar at the bottom.
This Govee Flow Pro Smart Light Bars are clearly an attempt to make a more affordable version of the Philips Hue Play Bars (they’ve even copied the box design!) but there are some significant differences and compromises. Of course there’s also a significant saving because a similar twin Hue Play Bar setup (including the necessary Hue Bridge) would cost you more than double this amount and if you want to use the Hue bars with a non-Philips TV you’ll have to add an HDMI Sync Box too and that adds another 200+. It’s difficult to make exact price comparisons because the Philips Hue system has so many options but they’re all going to work out much more expensive than this Govee set.
Full disclosure: I’ve got a full Hue Play Bar setup connected to my PC and more Hue lighting and a Philips Ambilight TV elsewhere in the house so I can make a direct comparison. I tried this set out with a non-Philips TV. Both systems have dedicated app’s that you run on your smartphone or tablet and they allow you to control the features and colours your light bars emit. The Philip’s app is far better and more professional but the Govee app isn’t half bad and offers a lot of fun options. Both systems have light bars that offer a good brightness (visible in daylight for example) but each Hue bar can only emit a single colour of light at a time whereas the Govee bars contain five discrete LED units and each bar can emit 5 different colours at a time. However it’s worth noting this multi-colour feature doesn’t seem to work when syncing to a TV or computer screen using the camera. From that limited perspective the Govee bars are better than the Hue versions.
Beyond using them as ambient lights there are two main functions for the Govee and Hue bars – syncing the colours to a TV screen and syncing them to music. With the Hue system you sync the lights directly to your content playback (via the Hue Bridge connected to your home wi-fi network) so for example on a PC/Mac there’s a dedicated free Hue Sync app that syncs your music, videos or gaming in the background without the need for extra gadgets or wiring. This all works (mostly) fantastically well and gaming especially takes on a new dimension with the synchronised light show. The Govee system uses a supplied mini-camera on a stalk which you attach to your TV or monitor so it’s pointing down (or up) at the screen and the colours it sees get sent to the light bars via a bunch of cables and a little control box connected to your wi-fi network. You have to use the Govee app to configure the camera, mapping the corners of the screen so the system knows which colours to transfer. To be honest compared to the Hue system it’s a clunky and quite silly-looking way to do it but it does work after a fashion. As mentioned it only emits one colour from each bar (same as Hue) and although it’s reasonably responsive it’s also very vague and the colours are crudely averaged-out approximations of what’s onscreen – but it’s fun and in a darkened room it does create an atmospheric glow behind your TV. However it’s a really basic and clunky version of what Hue can do, so round one to Philips.
For music synchrony you can use the Hue Sync app again on your PC and that lets you change and even create your own colour combo’s and vary the sensitivity of the way they react to your music. Philips have just added a Spotify Sync feature which lets you play music from Spotify on any device and have that sync to your Hue lighting again without needing any extra wiring or devices. The Govee system again uses that camera-on-a-stalk gizmo and there’s a microphone on it that hears your music and animates the light bars in sync. You can vary the ways the colours change and in music mode the Govee bars can display multiple colours which looks great and it all works remarkably well. The individual multi-coloured light show the Govee bars can produce is significantly better than the Hue bars, so on that level Govee win round two.
Overall the Hue system is still far better than this Govee version mainly because it can start small, with something like this two-bar system, and then keep growing and (if you spend enough money) you can have your entire lighting system synchronised to your TV or favourite music. If you’re just looking for something fun to use with your computer, games console or TV then this Govee kit does deliver but it’s really only practical for fixed screens – you won’t want to be repeatedly clipping that silly-looking camera-stalk onto your laptop for example. If you mainly want something to create a light show for your music then it’s much more effective, it’s really fun and produces bright saturated colours and lots of different sync-pattern options.
Will buy more of these. They have nice colours, very bright and really nice features.
Adds a lot to the atmosphere of a game when played in a darkened room. Really good addition, don’t regret this purchase at all! The app is really cool too, I’ve been so impressed with Govee LED hardware I’ve bought more LED strips and kitted out the entire room, all down to the quality of these strip lamps attached to the back of my monitor 🙂
Could be brighter, but in a darkened room its still pretty good.
So, first things first. It’s important to note that if you’re wanting voice control the camera needs to be plugged in, otherwise it’s control over Bluetooth with no voice.
Secondly, if you’re wanting dynamic colours based on your screen, then the camera requires to be ATTACHED above or below your tv/monitor.
Thirdly, some of the negative reviews here and issues experienced could have been avoided.
For me, the only let down is the requirement to have the camera plugged in for WiFi and therefore voice control, it’s a shame it’s not incorporated into one of the units. To be honest, I didn’t buy these for the ColourSense so I just affixed the camera to the back of one of my monitors and out of sight. I did try the ColourSense to see if it worked, and, even with a heavily blue light filtered scene the lights worked well. Exact colour replication can never be expected, but they do pick up the predominant colour.
So, the lights themselves are super simple to set up and you get fittings options. Colour is good with good segmentation to colour mix (RGBIC) and control brightness – they also do whites.
The Govee app is excellent, lots of options from the IC control to the ability to set scenes and timers etc.. Installation and sync between app and lights was easy and also detected the need for a firmware update.
So, on price, this whole setup costs the same as one Hue light, it’s then way cheaper than the Hue dynamic system.
In summary, all I can say these are excellent.
If you want to see a great review, with a bit of fun, check our Paul Hibbert HomeTech on YT.
I have plenty of Govee products & never been let down with the quality.
I like it and I can’t say anything but Thank You GOVEE!
Now I can play Mario Kart and other racing games in different consoles on my 32 inch TV!
Searching some lights for the TV, first thought about Phillips but after reading some reviews, i decided to find something else cheaper. Bought this Goove Flow Pro it with the deal for 54, so easy to setup/ calibrate and working better than expected. Just took about 10 mins to open the box and make it work well with 55″ TV.
If you want a cheap alternative to the hue smart lighting then this is for you. However, take note that it doesn’t match the colors on the screen perfectly (white is yellow for example ) nor does it follow as fast the content on the screen. I am happy with the product but for others they may be disappointed if you except hue quality.
Also, the adhesive for the bridge unit failed after one day.
Excellent product. Looks great behind a TV, but use them around my iMac. Much better then the rgb strips.
Love the effect when watching movies, certainly adds to the atmosphere when watching TV
Absolutely changes my pc room. These lights are fantastic. Looking to buy the Lamp next for the bedroom. Great produc
This product is very interesting and actually uses a camera aimed at your screen to see what colour to sync in with. For it to work properly you need to calibrate it which I found myself doing quite a lot of times before I got consistent and accurate results. The LEDs themselves are nice and bright and create a lovely atmosphere when glowing. However one thing I do find quite ridiculous is that you need the camera in order for these lights to work. I wish that I could control the lights without the need of the camera as the lights themselves are great.
Overall, for the price you get your money’s worth. However there are some issues here and there that are quite annoying and I wish that it were easier to use and to set up.
I like these a lot! Perfect if your TV is on a stand and not wall mounted. And you can hide the camera.
It’s a kiiler , it’s a good quality and very cheap
I’ve been after decent ambient-TV lights for ages, but the TVs with them built-in are far too expensive and the stick on LED strips are far too basic—enter the Govee smart light bars.
Easy to set up; just pick whether you want them freestanding or stuck to the back of the TV (we went freestanding), attach all the wires, stick the camera on and calibrate. Calibration is really easy just stick the included orange foam squares at various points around the edges and go through a simple series of instructions on the app.
You do need BlueTooth/wifi to operate them as they are calibrated and operated through the intuitive app. The camera is also needed to relay screen colours to the bars themselves but despite looking a little bulky it just disappears once attached and doesn’t interfere with the display.
The various options and modes are great, you can elect to have both bars display the ‘average colour of the screen’ or have each one display the colour of that edge. We just have the average and it really enhances the enjoyment of TV and film. The lights are bright, responsive and display colours very accurately. They are both fully customisable with 6 LEDs on each bar that can be changed to any colour you fancy.
Build-quality is really good though I’d have preferred it if the wires weren’t on the base of the units, or if you could switch up/down as you can left/right. The bottom is locked to the side with the wire attached and it’s difficult squeezing the bar into the stand as a consequence.
Overall though at the RRP of 79.99 I think they’re great value for money and they’re 100% indispensable now.
These lights are amazing. I have set them up in my gaming room and they give an amazing glow whic i haven’t been able to achieve with strip lights.
They’re well built and don’t look tacky or weird if they are on the side of the TV and visible. They can easily be tucked behind the TV if you want to keep the effect as it was coming off the TV.
This set has a pretty cool feature where it has a camera which tracks the lighting of your screen and displays a matching colour on the light bars. I found this to work fairly well but there were several instances where it displayed the wrong colour. I personally don’t use this feature at the moment but it is kind of interesting.
Overall, this is a really cool and modern gadget that provides really cool effects and lighting. You can have the same or different colours on each light which allows you to create a really cool mood in the room. Recommended, 100% worth the price.
There not amazingly bright but there good and would probably be better in a fully dark room while watching a film. I currently have mine set up behind my monitor while gaming and the camera works perfectly fine, although i had to keep unplugging and reconnecting it for it to pick it up. Did the old unplug and blow trick and its been fine ever since. The cables are abit much too youve got one for the camera then a connected one for the two light modules that all plugs into the main controller then this has another lead down to the plug socket. I would Recommend but maybe at a cheaper price i paid 55 for them which is still abit of the pricey side.
Going to try on the tv while watching a film next, Thinking avatar =)
I like the idea of the sticky pads on the rear of the light holders and the controller but then this means you cant move it from tv to pc very easily. Maybe they should include extra brackets or sticky pads incase you want to move it.
The camera sticks out abit as you can see from my picture, although not massively clear sorry for that so i’ve had to move my webcam over abit as the light camera needs to be either at the top middle or bottom middle again this has sticky pads on it to help it stick but would be difficult if you wanted to change it from tv to monitor.
Initially, I was planning to use this on my desk next to my monitor.
However after trying it out, and seeing how great and easy it was, I decided it would look so much better on my TV.
In the end I was right, because, it looks great on TV and works wonderfully, the colors on TV are instantly reflected in these Govee Flow Pro Smart Light Bars.
But it normally reflects more the colors on the center of the TV.
In addition to other features that allow you to change different color patterns.
The downside is that I don’t have more of it.
If I had one or two more of these, I could better fill the lighted area behind my TV.
This is because although it is beautiful, I would like it to lighten more so that each one covers a larger area.
The accessories that come with this Govee Flow Pro Smart Light Bars are perfect for hanging it, and good to put on the table if you are interested in putting it on the table, as I originally intended.
Whatever the utility I think you will be satisfied with it, I must also inform you that your cell phone is the remote control for this Govee Flow Pro Smart Light Bars.
These smart light bars look absolutely amazing. They look very modern and will suit any decor. The lights can be installed either horizontally or vertically. They are compatible with Alexa – as long as you have a good internet connection and can be voice controlled. The inbuilt camera captures colours from the tv or pc screen and automatically applies them to the lights. These smart light bars can easily be operated through the Govee app.
These light bars – according to my 13 year old son are very easy to set up. They come with excellent adhesive pads so you can stick them down. We have set them up by our 48″ tv and so far they are working well. For what you are getting at the current price of 67.99 I consider these lights to be great value for money. These lights came well packed and after several weeks of use I can confirm the quality is decent. Downloading the Govee app will give you access to lots more features such as a timer function, music sync, scene modes etc. A great product that is likely to give many years of use.
A little pricey but great
Added to back of my computer monitor
Sets great room atmosphere
The Govee light bars are very easy to set up. The control unit which the camera, the light bars and the power cable plug into are easily identifiable, as they have different connection ends. The camera has an adhesive pad so that you can stick it either to the middle bottom of your screen or top middle which reacts with your screen and changes the light bar colours. This also allows you to use the Amazon Alexa or Google assistant. The camera lead measures approximately 97 cm. The mains power plug cable measures approximately 148 cm in length. The light bars have two ways that they can be used which is tabletop or mounted on the back of your TV or monitor. The TV or monitor brackets have adhesive pads which holds them in place very well. The light bars have approximately 183 cm of cable before they are joined and have a USB type C end. You will have to download the Govee Home app from either the App Store or Google play. The app is easy to use and set up if you are a new user, basically you have to put a valid email address in as it will send you a pin code and then you will enter a password and confirm it. Then add your device and simply follow the on screen instructions. I did try using the light bars without installing and initialising the camera, Which can be controlled by the app on your phone or tablet, as I know some people are worried about privacy as when using the camera it is connected to the Internet. You could obviously cover the camera as well if you are worried about privacy. I personally just was using them for accent lighting, but my friend who is an avid gamer saw them and really like them. So I have given them to him as they will be used to their full potential and he is very happy and really likes them.
These were very easy to set up and come with both vertical mounts and also horizontal mounts allowing for a range of installation options, after downloading the Govee home app I had them connected in seconds, they are very bright and vivid and with the app, you can have any colour you like or even scene modes for romantic and police lights and many other modes, all in all, really happy with them.
These flow pro lights can be installed horizontally or vertically either on a flat surfaced or when mounted to your PC or TV with the bracket. There is camera which intelligently recognizes and captures the colours on your TV or PC screen and automatically applies them to your backlights this is amazing! Them bars support RGBIC segmented colour control function, which makes the two light bars can display different colours at the same time. Enhance your gaming and movie viewing experience. All this look just great!
Would I recommend this product? Yes of course because this is very good quality light bars for a reasonable price.
I LOVE this LED light. It sits on my desk and lights the room really well. I watched the film Deepwater Horizon with the screen sensor switched on. It makes you feel like your in the film with the changing colours that light up the entire room. Very impressed so far. Great job…
Works great, bright with excellent immersion from the camera. App is easy to use and set up
Easy to setup, Brightness is really good, adhesion was perfect for the item.
These are an affordable alternative to the market leader: Not actually that much cheaper than the stand-alone light bars they are inspired by, but you don’t need all the various hubs and power sources and the like that that product does: These are pretty much plug-and play.
Instructions are included, but this is fairly intuitive, and once you have set up the app you can either have the bars react to music or, via a small camera that mounts to the top of your screen, have the lights mimic the colours on screen.
It’s a definite ‘wow’ effect on a budget, no doubt, but there are a few issues: The colour calibration is definitely a little off, especially in the yellow/green spectrum, and I do think they could have come up with a better mounting system than sticky pads . They’re a touch plasticy, too, and though that wont matter if they are wall mounted, I don’t think they would survive too many falls, so best stick them to the surface as advised.
But nevertheless, a lot of bang for your buck. Impressive.
Good cheap alternative to the expensive Philips Hue. I am just using them as accent lighting behind my monitor, and for this it works great. Although could get a similar effect with light strips but not as bright.
Being a gamer, I love a bit of RGB and enjoy seeing what is available in new and cool ways of dealing with RGB.
I have recently built up a new desk setup and I saw these and thought they would be a cool addition to the desk but I didnt realise just how good they were.
Let’s get the basics out of the way, well packaged, easy to set up and well built. I was surprised that they are mostly plastic but I guess that is good for protecting against drops etc. You also get desk stands and wall mount stands included.
When you first fire them up you get a lovely even glow of the RGB, no hot spots and very little break in the colour. However when you set them up via the app is when they come alive! The app has different scenes and modes for the colours, such as full rainbow, breathing, static etc and the ability to make your own. The best for me is using the included camera on your monitor to mirror the edge colours and letting it bleed out over the side like an ambience glow. Its amazing!
The camera is small and fits on the top of your monitor (could be an issue with very thin bezel monitors) and it captures the image and replicates it. The camera must have a really wide FOV to do this and it works great!
For me though I like the general usage of the colour pre-sets and its one of the brightest and most even glowing RGB kits I have seen. I love it!
The only downside is I did have a little issue initially getting the app to sign in and pair. So I deleted and reinstalled and it worked fine the next time.
Govee Flow Pro Smart LED Light Bars, WiFi RGBIC Ambiance Backlight with Camera, Gaming Lamp Sync with Music, Work with Alexa & Google Assistant, Immersion Light Bar for 27-45 inch PC, TV, Room, 2 Pack.
These really have the wow factor, they work so well and look so good!
These govee flow Pro smart led lights come in a pack of 2 and include a camera.
They are very easy to get set up and even easier to use!
They synce well with our TV, it makes watching a film on prime so much more enhanced.
There’s 12 preset Modes and RGBIC segmented colour control.
They work well with Alexa so can also be controlled by voice, there’s an app to control them with too which you need to download from the appstore, the apps called govee home….. With the app it gives you access to a timer function, DIY colours video mode, music sync and scene modes so I advise to download the app as it gives you more features.
The camera is very intelligent and can capture colours on the TV and automatically applies them to the lights.
There’s so much to these, too much to mention but Im pretty sure you won’t be disappointed with this kit, I’m very impressed….. The quality is very good and they feel durable, I have had no issues with them, they work just as described!
I can highly reccomend and I think they are also reasonably priced as I’ve seen very similar on the market at a more expensive price!
LED TV lighting wouldn’t normally be my cup of tea, but I thought I would give this a go. I have a large TV and found the camera didn’t really scan the outer edges of the screen, so the effect wasn’t as it should have been. I would think anything smaller than a 45 screen would be ideal for this product. The setup was straight forward and I didn’t have any trouble with it other than the size of my TV. I wouldn’t recommend mounting the lights on TV stand either, as they would get knocked over easily and would likely render the light bar useless. This is worth it if you like LED TV lighting and you want to add ambiance to the game….but I wouldn’t imagine it being a great addition to watching the soaps.
I hope that helps.
I have always used smart led items as soon as they came out. I mainly focused on the led strips so when I saw these I was very reluctant to pull out my strips and replace them with something like this. These lights are very impressive, I wont lie. Straight of the bat the set up was dead easy. Plenty of cable length for my set up. The instructions are clear but honestly they’re pretty self explanatory. The camera is supposed to read the colours from your tv and mirror them back to the light bars. The colour accuracy isn’t very accurate but to be honest I wasn’t expecting much there.
I have calibrated these bars many times and also have moved the camera to the bottom of the tv without any success of colour accuracy. But for the price I’ve tried to over look this. The colour modes make up for this as they are amazing and the app offers an array of customisable settings. If you compare these to the Philips Hue lights, it is safe to say these are a much better deal for the price. Maybe over time they will fix the accuracy of the movie mode.
I love being able to use one app to control everything. Just make sure you get the ones with the app feature.I think Govee is growing and making better strives in affordable RGB lighting. Not pricey like Phillip hues but not cheap like those unbranded ones that are cluttering the market. It even has a music mode where light changes and dances to the beat of a song it hears and provides a dimming feature. The range of colour patterns is all the colours of the rainbow up to warm or super white light. So gaming setups will look amazing.
All in all I cant recommend these enough. Im buying a second set already.
A great set of immersive lights for a tv that can be controlled via in-line power controls or via the Govee app. I find the app the best to control and work the lights but can be used via smart home devices such as Alexa or Google too.
The lights are segmented in two lightbars of 6 segments each that can be used individually to your needs. but the camera mode sensing on the TV or monitor is great and works really well, as it picked up the current display and imitates the colours on the left or right side, these can be calibrated using the 8 Orange pads included and set via the app.
Or you can use the lights as normal lights that you can set the lights and segments to your own needs as the are addressable via the setting in the app.
The brackets are adhesive pad mounted on the tv or wall behind a tv , or using the feet themselves, only thing there is the feet aren’t very well weighed down so can fall over if the cable is pulled, which, weirdly has to be placed at the top and the feet brackets have no channel for the cable to slide into, which would have been better.
The left and right lights can be set up or flipped after installing, using the app, so don’t worry which is which beforehand.
I find the lights really well matched and vibrant and love that they can flash to music in the room or that is played using the same device as the app is controlling them.
Very nice set and the packaging is very well thought out too, with clear easy to read instructions.
The Govee light bars are very easy to set up (although ensure you decide exactly where you want them placed before you stick them down – the pads are very effective!) The light level is excellent and the Govee Home app to control the bars is very versatile and simple to use. You can add multiple Govee devices and control them all through the app.
I have a pair of these set up on a 48 inch TV which makes them a great option for bias lighting on smaller TVS (the Govee Immersion LED strips are only for very big TVs – these will work on most sizes of device. I also have a set on my 34 inch curved ultrawide monitor and they work well.
The camera solution works well but its probably worth bearing in mind that the camera used for the bias effects is connected to the internet when the device is connected to your phone. I’m no cyber security expert, but there might be some privacy concerns – you can always cover the camera when not using it for the screen react mode. The backlighting modes work without the camera.
These bars are superb value – much much cheaper than the equivalent Phillips Hue alternative as you don’t need a hub device.
Easy setup and fantastic buy would highly recommend this produc
Works perfectly easy set up app works perfect better alternate to Phillips hue
