Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPurchased this item in July 2022 and the item was replaced without any fuss after nearly 12 months of use.

Cannot fault their customer services, item itself is not your heavy duty loppers but for the smaller to medium jobs, these are ideal – -wife loves them as they are not big or heavy.

Was happy with the purchase but even happier with the first class customer service.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI bought these to rune my roses, I have a lot!
I’m disabled and find it hard with normal secateurs, these aren’t too heavy and I can reach roses at the back of the border. They look very well made and arrived the next day. Very impressed with seller and amazo

I needed something lightweight and easy to use. I read the description (and reviews) on several loppers before making my choice. I am pleased with these. They are exactly as advertised. Good quality, sturdy and easy to use. It has made my gardening much easier. As they are quite petite, they are easy to find a place to store them too. Really well made. Happy with my purchase.

I had never heard of this make previously but this has all the hallmarks of a very good lopper, At approximately 18 inches, you can work with this in the tightest of spaces.

It’s difficult to know where to begin in describing the unbelievably high quality of these loppers. This is the second one I’ve purchased because it is so good I’m afraid they might disappear off Amazon. The design is unlike anything I’ve seen before: it moves via an interlocking gear mechanism which makes the action a gillion times easier especially on your shoulders. One side of the blades is so sharp it could split a hair and the anvil side is at least 2cm. This means it snaps relatively thick shrub branches very easily, no stress at all. This is a beautifully made garden instrument which should last ages. Also it is FANTASTIC if you suffer from shoulder arthritis because all the work is being done by the mechanism, not your shoulders.

I have used it couple of times to cut thick branches and it did a good job. This is my first such item, so I cannot compare it with other similar items. I am glad I purchased it as you need the right tool for each job. It made the job of pruning thick branches so easy.

Excellent loppers which cut through smaller branches quite easily.

My only irritation is with the packaging because the plastic label was so tightly tied on with plastic ties that I couldn’t easily get anything behind them to snip them off. This resulted in the paintwork getting grazed. Not sure why the label should have been tied on so very securely – it seems obvious that this will happen.

When these arrived I was a little disappointed – they seemed quite expensive compared to other makes for their size. However, I have had them a while now and have ben really impressed. They are very useful for jobs where long handles are awkward to use and more power is needed than with secateurs. The cutters are very sharp and the ratchet system gives a lot of cutting power-they will cut through most things very easily. I would recommend these and buy again.

  49. Miranda2458 says:

These were a little smaller that I’d expected, but still do a decent job. The gear drive makes up for long handles and means you can get them into awkward spaces that longer handles won’t fit. I only gave 4 stars for sturdiness because I’d be reluctant to tackle thick branches – although what I have tried is to cut in the same place using several different angles and that seems to help.

  50. Stephanie Mulholland says:

I can’t manage heavy loppers now for any reasonable time. But these GRNTEK Anvil Pruning Loppers 470 mm work well for me. So many small loppers are heavily over-geared and thus resist any kind of snipping approach as they are consequently slow to use – then there are those with a hook or knob at the end of the blade to retain the item being cut – making it much more difficult to get the blades around the branch! These just do it without these over-designed features. Easy to carry and lift up to cut, easy to use.

My task was To lower a 20-year-old 3 metre tall hedge of Rose, Kerrier, Firethorn, and Forsythia down to one metre.
I have used telescopic loppers which eventually worked loose and with anvils that broke under the strain.
I have used secateurs that became loose and blunt under the strain.
I have used hedge shears , manual and electric, and made in UK that became unfit for purpose.
However, these German-made short Loppers have proved excellent and superb value for money.
    Highly commended!

They cut through 25mm thick old woody stems like butter!

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersGarden work is the bane of my life. I hate it. I wish I paved over the front and back gardens and turned them into car parks. In the summer it’s a relentless chore. I hate it so much that I’ve neglected it somewhat, and the side bushes (mostly various species of dogwood and pampas) has been left to over grow.

In recent months I’ve tried tackling this with nothing but a cheap set of secateurs. This was going nowhere, so I popped on Amazon I had a look at what I could get. I ended up getting these loppers, which arrived quickly.

They appeared a bit lightweight, I begin to doubt my purchase, but decided I give them a whirl, and I have to say, they’ve been magnificent. They’ve made short work of branches around an inch or so thick with the minimal of strength needed, and despite being an anvil lopper, the cut is pretty smooth.

I cut through living and dead branches like Anakin Skywalker shredding younglings in “Revenge of the Sith”, but with less anger flowing through me, and I kept my legs when I was done.

These are a great set of loppers and should find a place in your garden tools set.

Used these to prune cherry tree. So lightweight and very smooth cutting. They feel sturdy and are easy to hold. Very pleased with these as cheaper than some I’ve had but I think they’re one of the best pairs I’ve had. They aren’t very long so not ideal for higher cutting but just right for pruning thicker rose stems and bush’s etc your secateurs can’t handle.

I’ve had these shears for more than a month now and have used them frequently. I’ve got a very neglected privet hedge which has some thick branches and I was using a pruning saw to cut through them. The saw involved a lot of effort and time and I couldn’t reach all the branches. Getting this to do the job has saved me a lot of time and effort, I’m able to get to spots previously impossible to reach via pruning saw. It can easily slice through anything up to an inch or 2cm in diameter, anything slightly thicker requires a little more effort but it’s possible to achieve a clean cut. It feels solid and is lighter than I was expecting. I’m really glad I got this as I spend less time pruning giving me more time to relax and enjoy the warm weather we’re having at the moment. I would recommend this item. PS if you don’t want to scratch the handle when removing the plastic clips securing the cardboard label, turn the label over so it protects the metal handle and you can cut the plastic clips without any contact with the handle.

One of the best pruning tools I have brought. They are strong to cut with and will easily go through the larger branches where others just bend or the teeth slip. These have a good plate for the blade to go against and it’s not a small piece so cuts better with no blade slippage or twist. Only negative is I thought they would be bigger but with this it makes it ideal for all users. Hoping to find an extendable version of these soon.

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersBought these to replace some bypass loppers that met their end trying to cut through some branches from a felled fir tree.
This is my first foray into anvil-type loppers, and they do have a different feel to the bypass type. They appear to be robustly made and are attractively coloured, even if they do look a bit like an aussie cricketer!
The gearing action is smooth in use, and it has made clean and easy cuts in overgrown shrubbery and small trees. It claims to handle up to 28mm stems, and it sliced through inch-thick branches with alacrity. In fact, as first impressions go, these may be the best loppers that I have used to date. The blade is sharp and cuts have been clean and highly satisfying.
The weight is light – I did actually wonder if the product had been included in the box when it was delivered – but the light weight does not appear to have been realised through a lack of structural strength. My impression is, that these are built to last.
I did have concerns that at 47cms these might be too short to be truly useful. While an extra 10cms or so would be useful, and would make them more functional with the extra reach, I am well satisfied with the quality of these loppers and will be considering Gruntek quite seriously when I am looking to buy garden tools in future. I am pleased with my purchase.

Well-made and effective loppers and rose secateurs for tougher stems.

The weather is getting warmer and everything in the garden is coming back to life. Moaned to my neighbor about gardening and he suggested cutting the branches and twigs before the leaves grow back. My old prune shear broke off after being excessively used last year. My telescope lopper was useless at all and was binned. I need something for small twigs and another thing with longer handles for branches up higher. This set of gardening tools ticks my needs. I have used them twice so far. They are sturdy and sharp to cut branches and twigs. I am sure it will help me to ease my pain when I trim the plants. Hopefully they will last a couple of years.

Golden Review Award: 18 From Our UsersI bought these in lieu of needing an electric saw however as I had a large hedge to cut a saw wouldn’t have done all I needed so this was the next best option. I’ve found anvil based pruners in the past to be a bit pathetic struggling to cut through branches but this did like butter. I met a few branches it wouldn’t cut but all you have to do is rotate and cut from the other side — it happily cut branches up to 3-4″ thick with no dramas.

I was worried buying a slightly cheaper brand but these are quality and feel like they should last an age.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThese are good quality shears at a reasonable price. I feel they are the next step up from hand shears as they are not very long and can handle branches up to about an inch (25mm). For those conditions they are fine but do not expect them to cut anything thicker. I would expect them to last a long time in normal domestic use.

I bought these mostly to prune back an apple tree since and they were definately up to the job.

The grips are nicely rough so there’s no slippage and they cut through the branches easily, although to be fair the largest was probably only just over an inch thick.

I think if you buy these with realistic expectations you’ll be very pleased with them…. I am.

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersI only had time for a quick test before the rains, but the geared mechanism makes it easy to cut the thicker branches even with the relatively short handles. I prefer this gear-type mechanism to the ratchets some loppers and pruners use, and it doesn’t need the sometimes problematic telescopic handles. It’s a good design, a nice balance between cost and efficacy.

My wife likes to prune, leaving the less entertaining gardening chores to me. This tool was deliberately chosen for her, and is perfect. It is of a decent quality, sufficiently large (but not too much, without those pesky telescopic handles getting in the way). Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis product was supplied as a sample with no pressure to leave a good review.
Having always used larger loppers, I was excited to try out this pair (Overall Length: 470 mm Blade: 60 mm). I have to say, after using these I will never go back to my bigger ones. These are so much more convenient and easier to use. They fit in the hands comfortably and are lightweight enough to lift above your head and still maintain control for hedge trimming or pruning, whatever you’re doing.

Despite their small size, the jaws open very wide so they can still tackle thick branches and shrubs. They can slice through various vegetation fairly effortlessly thanks to the particularly sharp upper blade which performs an efficient and clean cut. The handles are designed with a non-slip material to provide a secure, steady grip even when you’re using these for a prolonged period.

Overall these are a great pair of loppers. They are highly functional, practical, good value and therefore a great buy. GRNTEK are a fantastic brand for gardening tools, definitely check out there other products if you’re a keen gardener.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersI was sent this item in exchange for my honest review. That does not affect my personal opinion. I am sharing my own experience upon trying out the product, with as much information/photos as I can provide.

I’ve typically in the past used longer loppers (at least 60cm length), so this is the first shorter pair I’ve ever tried, and I must say I’m impressed for a number of reasons.

I was initially unsure of the short length, but for most of my pruning jobs, the shorter length is in fact an advantage, making the loppers light and very easy to work with. They are extremely sharp and can cut through any sticks and branches with very little effort due I reckon to the excellent gearing mechanism built in. The grip handles are also very comfortable and feel secure in your hand when using. I really can’t fault these little pruners, they’ve dealt with all my pruning needs admirably and they feel very strong, and give me confidence that I’ll have many years of good service from them.

    Quality short length loppers
