This GROHE kitchen tap is well-named, it is very smart looking and is a stylish way to fill any sink. It’s hefty and well-made feeling too without being clumsy and the mirror finish seems flawless. The clever styling means that although it doesn’t really look like a tap that swivels it does and the whole bottom section turns through 140 making it suitable for double sinks too. I’m slightly concerned that because the base of the tap moves and isn’t sealed to the surface of the sink it might harbour dirt and become a bit of a mould trap, but it should be easy enough to keep it clean as long as you remember.

The lever control on top has a super-smooth action and it’s no effort to turn the tap on/off or to adjust the heat, so if you have dexterity issues it shouldn’t be a problem here. There’s an aerator in the tap nozzle to create a soft, foamy flow of water – have to admit I don’t like these at all but this one isn’t too bad. There’s also a flow-restrictor built-in to regulate the amount of water and although it makes it slower than our old kitchen mixer tap it’s still a decent flow and you shouldn’t have to wait too long to fill the kettle.

The flexible connecting hoses attached to the tap are a boon for quick installation but they are quite narrow bore and if you’re replacing an old kitchen tap, as we were, then you’ll need adaptors to go from the old to the new fittings – any decent plumber should have those to hand. We’ve had a couple of Grohe products over the past years as we re-did bathrooms and have been really happy with them, they seem to offer great quality without inflated prices. This tap keeps up the standard and would look great in any contemporary kitchen.

I really like Grohe and this tap was a great opportunity to fit a similar tap on a second sink to one I had already purchased GROHE 33281002 | Eurosmart Kitchen Tap . They look just the same to me but apparently this one has a flow rate limiter, not that I noticed.

The solidity of the design and build inspires confidence, with neat features such as the ability to rotate the whole tap at the base compared to the more usual rotation of the neck: one fewer source of leakage down the line.

A extra special feature of this tap is that it is handed-neutral. This is important for both ease of use and safety (I speak as a left-hander). With single levers on the side they are always on the right-hand side. With dual controls the hot water is on the left leading to absent-minded scalding for the left-hander (rather than absent-minded cold water for the right-hander)

This is a beautiful piece of art really. It really looks great in the kitchen . We have used GROHE Taps for a long time, because they work smoothly and are long lasting. The Swivel is great . The tap glides with ease across the sink and the handle is easily controllable even in a kitchen where you hands are often full. These taps are beautiful, solid and work really well. We have always had them installed by a plumber and have never had any problems. They last for years… almost for ever and continue to look good. I have bout other brands and have always been sorry. They have had to replaced in record time. Not so the GROHE taps .They last and last saving tons of money on plumbers. I totally recommend this tap.

My experience with taps has been somewhat mixed but I have found the Grohe brand, along with Bristan, to be reliable – as long as you have a plumber that understands taps. The tap is weighty and looks really good once in place, enhancing the sink area. The mixer lever works smoothly to control the flow and has eliminated the clunking noise we had from its predecessor.

If a fault develops with this tap it should be possible to fix as long as you can find a plumber prepared to take it apart (a leaflet with diagrams is included for reference); therein lies the problem. It is solved by contacting the manufacturer if the fault occurs during warranty (5 years for this tap) as they can send out their own plumber to fix the problem and, as they deal exclusively with the taps, they know what to do. I haven’t had a problem with this tap leaking and will update the review if that should happen but so far it all looks good.
