Gateron Optical Switches – The fastest Switches for gaming!
Optical switches are much more durable than conventional mechanical keyboard switches and are rated for 100 million keystrokes.
They have a high actuation point of 1.5mm for fast response. Light Strike optical switches utilize a horizontal infrared beam which is transmitted across the width of the inner keyswitch.
The infrared beam is normally blocked from reaching a sensor across from it by the stem. Once a switch is pressed, the switch stem no longer blocks the infrared beam and the beam is detected by the sensor, which activates the switch.
Due to the optical mechanism, an optical switch has an extremely fast response time of 0.2ms, which means faster reactions in those times where timing is critical, such as when gaming.

I really like this keyboard, I don’t use it for gaming but I use it at the office for work.
Wish I paid more attention to the keys on the screen, will take some getting use to but it’s a high quality keyboard and I hope it keeps working for months more as I’ve had problems with previous keyboards having keys randomly stop working.
This keyboard is just cool. I bought this in red with blue switches and love the feel and size of it. It saves a ton of space on my desk and does not feel in the way. I have played multiple games on my PC with it and it is doing great. I can type on it as well with no issues, as I write a lot of code for my projects.
absolutely adore the colour, its the perfect shade of pink! the light settings are excellent, there is so many options and you can even create your own. chunky key caps and comfortable to use. highly recommend and a bonus of being such a low price for a great product!
My grandson is over the moon and absolutely loves the keyboard.
its good but i would wait and get a apex tkl for fortnite
The item was exactly as listed and arrived quickly, thanks to the seller for a quick and easy delivery.
This keyboard is highly recommended, it’s a great keyboard in terms of responsiveness and Build quality, while also being hot swappable. One thing I disliked about this keyboard however is the malfunctioning of led on the home row and a failed led on the d key.
bought this awhile back and have since put custom key caps on it, i love it, good for its price.
Risposta tasti ottima latenza pari a 0 , pressione e sound tasti spettacolari.
Altre 2 pecche: tasto shift progettato male, essendo il tasto pi grosso degli altri la pressione a volte non viene rilevata dallo switch per via della collocazione di quest’ultimo; altro problema, posizione dei tasti FN scomoda
First of all I had to return one lavender GK61 keyboard I got which was faulty due to the equals and plus /f12 (=+) key was triggering the whole top right set of keys ({[]}=+ and enter) so that’s mainly why I gave 4 stars, another thing is that the keyboard feels quite sensitive which can be a bad thing for gaming for example resting my finger on key caps sometimes select that key, this can be annoying when playing a game like Fortnite when your ready your finger on a building key and it accidentally triggers.
Some good things on the GK61. Hot-swappable switches gives you a the chance to upgrade. the typing experience which is smooth and satisfying, the sound of the keys are a little clicky and thoccy ( Gateron mechanical yellows), the color of the keyboard is very accurate to the listing image’s and the rgb is very vibrant and has a lot of customizability with the app.
Overall the GK61 is worth the 69.99 price tag due to the pleasing experience I’ve had so far with typing and performance in long gaming sessions.
for 50 bucks is great and i love the blue switches
I like everything about it. Nothing to complain about I love that it’s very customizable and easy to do so. Also the lighting is nice. Good 60% keyboard
This keyboard is great! This it the best mechanical keyboard for anyone whose starting out. A good beginner. Def recommend
Arrived quickly less than 24 hours. Really enjoyed the typing experience, the button still works as an A key but ‘a’ key cap is missing there’s also no replacement keys.
Would be great if I could get the key sent out.
It’s a pretty good keyboard for beginners to customize. I chose the red opticals for mine and there’s six screws that hold the pbc to the shell of the keyboard. I was able to easily slap some foam under there and snap it back together.
The only thing for me is that the keys are pretty sensitive and will press down with a very small amount of pressure, but it’s nice to have that compared to keys not registering.
This keyboard has made me want to EXCLUSIVELY use Gateron Silent Brown switches. Its astonishing how quiet they are and still feel so tactile. The keyboard was just quiet enough out the box to bring to the office. Its a joy to type on and fully utilize my desk space with the 60% layout. All I need to do now to make it just 10% better is lube and band-aid mod. Spacebar sounds a little too loud in comparison to everything else and it would feel more consistent if this was done out the box. Still, doesn’t take away from how good this keyboard is.
I was very excited to receive this extremely popular keyboard. My favorite feature is its clickyness due to the blue switches I chose and I had a lot of fun customizing it and experiencing the all the intricacies that make a keyboard work. For the money, its an extremely fun product.
Excellent for the price, better than expected and so cute! I’m definitely happy with their keyboard and I will be using it all the time. It was nice of them to include a keycap puller as well since I was planning on doing some customization!
I wanted to get into the world of keyboard modding and wanted to start out with something cheap and simple. I opted for mechanical Gateron Yellow switches because a lot the modding community praise those switches. Initial thoughts were that these switches were the right move. It is linear with a good amount of force needed, good for typing and gaming. I am coming from Corsair K95 with Cherry MX speed switches and these Gaterons feel a bit nicer for typing.
The mods I incorporated includes: Car sound dampening foam (dynamat), PE foam between PCB and casing, PE foam between plate and PCB, HOLEE mod, and G205 G0 lubed switches. All of this combined, equates to a superb typing experience. The space bar is smooth and thocky. The default key caps leaves a tingy feedback sound and doesn’t thock as I had intended, so I’m looking to upgrade to double-shot PBT switches in the near future.
The weight of the keyboard barebones out of the box is slightly on the heavy side already. This is probably due to the steel metal plate is uses. A surprise to me for how cheap this keyboard is. It is slightly heavier now, which is what I want, in order to achieve a more thocky sound. The additional weight comes from the car sound dampening foam.
If you’re on the fence about grabbing a 60% keyboard for cheap and want to mod it, this is a good move for beginners not wanting to break the bank.
Currently writing this on my GK61 with silver switches which I have used for about a month now, the keeb is great, mine came pre lubed and sounds alright stock. The main issue I have is the tacky software, which feels like a very unexperienced person put up in 10 minutes. Its extremly buggy, and I found it was difficult to manuever. Other than that, the layout may be difficult to adapt to, as it uses an American ISO Layout.
