Got this for my 12 year old son who is keen to fly my DJI. Wanted a cheaper beginner drone for him to learn the basics on. The auto flip moves were very impressive. So impressed with this I got one for myself too. Haven’t flown outside yet but should be fine as long as you stay close.

This is the first proper drone I’ve had and the whole kit seems well build for the price and has allowed me to get a feel for what drones can do and how to fly them, and more importantly land them, on purpose! Haahaa

The drone and controler are small enough to fit in a pocket each so great for taking out to a suitable location.

The batteries are easy to clip on and charge, don’t use any other cables to charge other than the one that comes as it knows when it’s full and cuts off. A phone charger could damage the battery.

The video quality isn’t bad, it’s not an amazing lens and feild of view, it seems to be more zoomed in and not as wide as I’d have expected. Also there is no onboard memory this is both a pro and con, if you loose it, not loss of memory or footage but the con is is has to transmit the footage to the phone directly. Taking up space and time.

Take some getting used to and ideal to learn with without a large cost.

    Good starting poi

A great little budget drone to try out the world of drone flying without the expense and fear of crashing higher end drone.

The drone was a perfect pocket size drone and was extremely fun to fly.

It was very well packaged with the setup and operating instructions very well laid out and easy to follow in plain English.

I just wish that my next drone would be this compact when I am looking to make the move to a higher end model.

Good for gebinners, easy to have a hang of it, even if you never tried drones before. Video can be a bit jerky but for taking pictures it’s pretty good. Obviously in windy condition you shouldn’t really fly it but when it’s not windy it can be a big fun for kids. I think it’s a good beginners drone, quite agile

A good first drone for beginners. I ordered it for a 9 year old (it’s advertised for 14+ but he’s supervised using it) and it’s been a fun toy for him to learn to fly. Teaches his control and navigation.
For the price the camera is good and the build quality seems secure.

What great fun it was using this drone! Really user friendly and perfect for beginners like myself! Just read the instructions which are well written and easy to understand, the included 3 batterys are a great welcome as each one lasts about 15-20 minutes, it was really easy to connect to my phone with its own wifi network for me to use the onboard camera and with this i inspected my roof and took some pictures where a recent storm lifted a few tiles! Endless fun and great for investigating so I highly recommend!

It has everything you need for a beginner and features like: a 1080P WiFi camera and Gesture Control function very easy to link with the phone. It Included 3 modular Li-Po batteries providing The HS430 Battery has a built-in chip for overvoltage protection. small size which is good

I could not make it work it charged well and the front two fans rotate but the end two don’t I have asked and tried. everything I could but I cannot make it work. Every time I tried wings don’t move from the back and the drone gets very very hot. I think It is a great product I just got unlucky and received a faulty motor.

I have taken too long to write this review the reaosn is I could not make it work. Then I posted a question .

I am uopdating my review now. AFter few months seller contacted me and they offer me a replacement which arrived very quickly and this one works so well. I am so glad and it was super easy to connect and use it and it is super fun to use this drone.

This is a really good mini drone, that is very small, easy to use although it is a little fragile. So we ordered this for me and my son to play around with, it seemed like a nice starter drone that still has a lot of features but without the professional level price tag. The first thing that is so apparent when you get the drone is just how small it is, it really came fit in the the palm of your hand.

The arms of the drone fold out to make it able to fly and then the controller for using the drone is pretty simple, there are a lot of buttons I wasn’t expecting however. The controller also has a phone holder so you can attach your phone to show the camera view, connecting this via the app is pretty straight forward to setup and use which is nice too. My only complaint with the drone is that it seems pretty fragile, I get that it needs to be light to fly but on our third flight one of the motors seems to have broken, it’s not the propeller, it still spins but not fast enough to fly straight anymore, it does come with propeller protectors but I’m not sure if that would have prevented the problem. I need to have a closer look to see if it is fixable.

This is proving to be a good first drone to learn with and would probably be fun for a more experienced flyer. I’ve only been playing with it for a hour or two so these are first impressions. Three batteries give you about 11 or 12 minutes each. By the time you’ve used all three you have plenty time to get accustomed to the way it flies and how to keep control. It is very sensitive to wind outdoors. Good practice for controlling it in a light breeze. Any more and it is impossible to fly. I expected this after watching YouTube reviews and not surprising given it is so small and light. If you fly it indoors make sure you have plenty space as you can’t be sure which way it will move until you have trimmed it properly. Camera is good for stills (example attached). Videos seem a bit jerky. At this price point it’s more than acceptable though. Overall a good purchase which will let me find out if I want to go ahead and invest in a more expensive one.

A good first drone to learn with

I used to have some little mini remote control helicopters for spinning round the house, but I have never tried a drone before. I was unsure of the drone rules regarding registration etc, so I took a look at the Civil Aviation Authority website.

It would seem that below 250g or class 0 (both of which criteria it meets) doesn’t need a Flyer ID, or an Operator ID so long as it is a toy (even if it does have a camera). Working out if it is a toy is very much down to you, as there is no standard mark to show that it is.

They say that the drone is likely to be a toy if the below is true:
    1. The manufacturer or store you bought it from describes it as a toy
    2. You bought it from a toy department or retailer
    3. It is marked as suitable for below age 14 or a younger age group
    4. It was advertised or packaged to attract children

It is sold as a toy on Amazon so it could mean that you don’t need to register it.

This is a great little drone to fly, I spent time flying it around the house. The camera isn’t brilliant, but it is OK, however the only way I managed to get it to work was to do the following.

Turn it on at the drone, then select the HolyStone WiFi before turning it on at the remote. Pair it with the remote and prep it for flying, then turn on the video on the remote before turning it on on the app.

It warns you when the battery is running out by beeping continuously, giving you time to land it before it runs out.

It is pretty easy to fly once you get used to it, but trimming wasn’t so simple, I never got it to work as there was always drift, and that was indoors with the windows closed. Eventually I managed to crash it after trying to set the drift correctly and one arm got caught in plastic, now that arm’s rotor won’t spin , so take care.

It seems a little expensive at 59.99 when compared to similar drones listed on Amazon, but it looks good, and is fun.

Although the product listing states this is ‘for kids’, the manual clearly states, hidden amongst its pages, that it isn’t suitable for users under the age of 14, so not really for kids in the grand scheme of things. That classification is also important because, although this is diminutive and weighs only 75g (my scales read 76g), that means you need to have an operator ID to fly this – at a cost of 10pa because it is not classed as a toy. Although not a requirement to have a flyer ID as well because of the size and weight of this drone, that is free to get and just requires you to pass a theory test. It would be good practise to do that to ensure you are aware of safety and privacy laws associated with drones, particularly because this has a camera attached. This is labelled Class 0 for reference, but it is not a toy (not suitable for under 14s) and it has a camera. Failure to register can result in a fine in addition to annoying your neighbours if you don’t have appropriate regard for their privacy.

The above aside, which I have gone on about because there I couldn’t see any clear warnings in the listing and the manual basically says it is up to you, this is a reasonably made drone. That weight of 75/76g includes a fully charged battery, of which there are three in the pack. Each battery takes over an hour to charge and then only gives 13 minutes of run time. Note that the literature warns not to fly in bad weather, such as rain or windy conditions, which is likely to limit flying time considerably in this country.

I am fortunate to live in the middle of nowhere and have a large garden because it is not easy to fly this and I found I needed a lot of space. At the risk of being boring and repetitive, it is worth looking at the law and taking the theory test so you know what you should and shouldn’t do, such as flying close to people or neighbouring property. Before I moved, I was regularly buzzed by someone’s drone flying over and around my garden and it was a real invasion of privacy in a place where I wasn’t otherwise overlooked.

Used carefully and responsibly, drones are a source of a great deal of fun and the aerial photography is fantastic, even with this fairly basic model. But it isn’t easy to fly, so make sure you keep it away from other people and animals – and stay away from water, trees and other places from which this would be difficult to retrieve. Mine is currently stuck on the roof.

You receive the drone in a good looking box, you need batteries for the controller before you get started, the drone comes with 3 modular Li-Po batteries for extra flight time.

Using it is simply brilliant, can’t believe how well it flies and responds to the controls, having had a few drones that are just about impossible to fly, I am so impressed at just how easy this is.

The camera images are okay, not amazing but perfectly acceptable.

    Overall brilliant, easy five stars

It takes some time to control but playing it alot, the better he got.

Easily fold away and open up.

The camera is not the best but its clear enough to see and is pretty fun to watch.

This is a fun, small lightweight drone (76g with a battery on board). You get three drone batteries which are charged via a flimsy usb cable supplied. But no batteries for the controller (which takes 3 x AAA) – not sure why we can’t have a rechargeable pack for the controller as well.

The drone has an auto take-off and land button that makes life very easy. I found mine drifted to the left and am struggling to trim it properly, nothing major just doesn’t want to hover in one place (even indoors). You can pair your phone to it to get pictures/video which is ok – note the camera only tilts manually i.e. you have to set it before you take off.

A bit of fun very small and compact (the arms fold away) so easy to carry in a pocket.

    Nice

This drone is ideal for beginners, this is my first experience of flying a drone, I found the instructions and emset up fairly straight forward and the drone responded as it should, it does take abit of practice and I would recommend if you are new to this like myself taking it to an open area such a a field where you can have a good play about and get used to the controls, I was very impressed with the quality of the footage this captured.

Firstly you will need 3 AAA batteries for the controller as they aren’t included. Once charged which doesn’t take too long the light will go green. It’s a neat little drone that folds so it is easy to handle for children. It takes off great. The camera is 1080 so it gives clear shots from the sky. Controller is self explanatory and not too big for smaller hands. I’ve seen them cheaper but don’t know if the quality is as good. I can happily recommend this.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ll start by saying that I’m a huge fan of Holy Stone drones and have several of their high end ones, as well as a mini one. I’ve also reviewed several other brands over recent weeks. I was really looking forward to reviewing this HS430 after seeing other positive reviews online.

This HS430 is surprisingly good fun to fly. Whilst the video quality isn’t the greatest, it’s OK for basic FPV flying and takes OK photos. It’s better than the video on most other mini drones I’ve flown. The camera doesn’t tilt up and down via the controller, but has to be manually positioned pre-flight. In all honesty, I won’t be using it with the phone and app much and will be focussing on flying for fun with just the controller. I have the premium drones for photography.

The drone is simple to setup. Charge the battery via the special micro-usb cable (3 are included for 39 minutes flight in total), pop it in the drone and switch on. You then sync the controller by switching on and pushing the let stick up and down.

Flight can be started by pushing both sticks in and down towards each other at the bottom. Push up on the left stick or use the auto take off button. You can also throw lightly to make it fly, which is great if you have limited take off space.

This is a really nippy and responsive mini drone. It’s just a nice size for folding in your pocket and flying pretty much anywhere you want. The controls are really responsive and it flies easily. There are also a few additional buttons for headless mode, trimming (which I demonstrate in the start of my video), flying fast in a circle and spinning around. Push the right stick in then press a direction and it’ll do a fancy flip.

I’m really pleased with this and can definitely recommend it. It’s more than a toy, but isn’t too serious like Holy Stones more premium drones.

This does have the class C0 marker on it. As such, it requires an operator ID to fly legally in the UK as I wouldn’t class it as a toy (the box states over 14 users only). It’s under 249g though, so can be flown in most recreational areas as well as over people. You should print the ID and put it on the body of the drone.

Overall, this is superb value for what this drone can do. Don’t be put off by the in-drone image quality as this excels in the fun you’ll have flying it.

Update: sadly the rear left rotor on my first one died within 4 weeks due to faulty wiring. Holy Stone replaced it though and the new one seems fine so far. This is the only reason to have dropped 1 star.

A fun mini drone that looks and flies professional..

It’s entry level, so no gimbal / stabilization or GPS etc etc, but you get what you pay for.

    Lightweight so will blown around

You use one battery at a time, so maximum of 13 minutes run time, I could not easily test this as I did not want the drone to go flat when in use 🙂 There is a low battery warning though.

Its a back garden drone or similar

It’s a bit of fun. Price could be a little lower I personally feel

  41. Delmar8093 says:

The drone comes with two sets of spare propeller blades, three batteries, USB charging cable for the batteries, four propeller guards, mini screwdriver, remote controller and operating instructions. The charging cable has an embedded LED light that turns green when the battery has been charged. The propeller arms of the drone fold inwards making the drone easier to carry and about the size of a regular computer mouse. The controller takes three AAA batteries (that aren’t included). The instructions have a QR code for the companion app which can be used to control the drone, or to show the live video feed. The drone is connected via its own WiFi which you need to connect the phone to. The remote controller has two joysticks and four buttons and a grip to hold the phone. The controls are well explained in the instructions but take some getting used to. I had to retrieve the drone from a neighbour’s garden on my first attempt. Each battery should last around 13 minutes, giving you a total flight time of 39 minutes with battery swaps. The batteries don’t take too long to charge fully either. The video quality from the drone is excellent – it’s 1080P resolution. Video and snapshots can be taken from the app. The controller allows many different functions such as high speed rotation, circle fly, 3d flip, etc. The drone is quite compact so would probably not suit a very windy environment but in general is an excellent drone.

Great mini drone with live camera feed

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBe sure to watch the video of this drone before buying, because it is literally tiny. Also, it should be noted that the 39 minute flying time is actually 3 x 13 minutes from each battery, so you only get 13 minutes of flight time between battery changes. That having been said, it’s a great little toy, and the HD camera is excellent. It is easy to control with the remote control (3 x AAA batteries required), and there is a ledge for your phone to sit so that you can monitor the camera in flight. I’ve done a few little stunts with this so far, and it responds pretty well. I have no idea what the range is because it is so small I didn’t want to let it out of my sight, but I will be taking it to a much larger grassed area tomorrow to test that. I was still managing to control it at over 150ft though, so no complaints there. It comes with a charging lead, 3 batteries, spare propeller blade etc, and it all seems reasonably well put together, and able to withstand a few soft crash landings. Those expecting a larger drone may be disappointed though, and I would put this product firmly in the kids camp, as a first drone to practicewith. Price wise I think it is reasonable value, and kids are going to have a lot of fun with it.
