Smashing wah-wah pedal. Does everything it says on the tin. Great tone and dead easy to set up. The only detraction, if there is one, is that you really need to stand firm on the toe of the pedal to operate it. This, in my ignorance I did not do, but after a visit to the electric guitar forums, I realised my mistake and it has worked perfectly since – in fact I play ‘wah with just about everything.
I bought this cry baby for my other half he is proper happy with it, arrived next day & he uses it daily.
It is made like a tank but for a few wah songs it’s not worth the money or the place on my pedal board. It’s a funny sound and makes you smile I give it that.
Bought as a gift for my 14 year old son, has really helped him to move up a level in playing, he loves the sound it gives and now wants to play like Page and Hendrix. Only downside is having to tell him to keep turning his amp down a few levels. Great buy great sound great Wah effect. One very happy kid.
This is NOT a volume pedal but a Wah Wah.
And it does the job.
Great effects pedal apart from the enormous electrical clunk noise that comes from the amp when you turn it on or off with your footswitch. Don’t no how you would manage in a performance other than leaving it on which isn’t ideal.
If like me you enjoy the occasional sixties madness such as Early Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix then you need this sound. This pedal gave me a new dimension to my guitar playing and an authenticity to t-my sound when playing music by those mentioned. The pedal its-self is simple and robust just as I needed. I supposed that A Vox as used by Jimi would have sufficed. This one was more highly recommended by a friend.
This is the only wah you’ll ever need. Good enough for Hendrix, good enough for me. Well built, there is 0% chance of breaking this. Fender strat – cry baby wah – Marshall amp: almost my dream threesome. Don’t think, just buy.
Works as it says on the box. No frills, just solid wah when you need it in a solid construction. One option to make it better when using with power cable would be to provide the power input socket at the top or bottom of the device so that it does not interfere with the input/output signal, and it can be placed more easily either side of a pedal board.
Delivered when expected and does “exactly what it says on the tin” – well pleased with it!
I was um-ing and ah-ing which wah pedal to buy for several days. Yes there were cheaper options on the market, but I had a clear image of the sound I was looking for and it was what my early rock music brain had heard with countless guitarists, all of whom used this pedal.
The package arrived the next day and I was absolutely delighted with my choice. The quality of manufacture is obvious by the sheer weight in the unit, which inspires confidence. I plugged it in to the power supply on my pedal board, stomped on the front of the pedal to turn it on and there all it’s glory was THAT wah sound.
So, do you want a wah pedal? If so, then buying this is a no-brainer.
Just what I expected from Dunlop
Happy with this purchace
Great pedal but started to squeak after a short while when moved – I sprayed it with WD40 on the joints & no problem at all now!
This was one of my first pedals to get after playing for a few years without one and I have to say it’s great. Definitely one of my favorites to play around with.
It distorts well and sounds great in clean tones. Definitely a must buy if you want to spice up your guitar playing
his was a gift, the recipient was delighted with it.
I find this to be a very good quality pedal. Feels robust, has a nice smooth travel, solid switch and represents good value for money – sounds good too of course! I like that it can run on a 9v battery too to save on finding another plug socket.
Gift for my son. He loves it and regularly uses it. At his mothers. The gift that keeps on giving!!!
Awesome effects pedal. Does exactly what it says on the tin. A classic piece of gear. Comes with a cool sticker too.
The first pedal I received was acting as a volume pedal with no ‘wah’ effect. Probably damaged in transit from the USA due to lack of protective packaging by Dunlop? Amazon immediately sent a replacement which works fine. Maybe Jim should lash out on a bit of bubble wrap, there are reports of other new pedals having this problem.
Wah wah wah……..I now sound like the greatest guitarist in the world. Stunning product, it’s my favourite pedal!
I bought this for my son as he needs one for his next guitar exam. Good sturdy pedal, which he has no trouble using and was a very good price.
Very sturdy well build wahwah. It sounds great and does the job. The only couple of things I’d say is that it could do with a little more travel, it’s a little short and therefore takes a bit of sensitivity to control it. Also the switch itself is a little tricky sometimes to press, several times I’ve not been able to press it enough to turn it off or on. It says use the recommended power supply but I’ve got a generic 9v footpedal power supply and it works fine.
Absolutely excellent, possibly the most fun you can have with a guitar. So expressive you might even cry. Love it!
If your after a wah you can’t go wrong with the original.
Having returned the Behringer Hellbabe HB01 as I was so disappointed in its performance I decided to go the Cry Baby route despite the extra cost. I wasn’t disappointed, a classic Wah pedal tone with a good sound and a great sweep right out of the box. Only clicks when you switch it off and then its quite quiet unlike the behringer which clicked like a cricket on drugs everytime you released the pedal. If you want a classic wah sound this is your pedal.
Unlike some of the cheaper pedals the Cry Baby is feels very solid and built to last wit a rugged metal construction and parts to match, should last you a long time and if you get fed up with it there are a mass of after market modifications available to try out.
I have it in a studio that only I use and for me it’s worked fine and been very good for the price.
Fantastic bit of kit. Amazingly fast delivery. This and my Fuzz Face are giving me exactly the sound I am after. Can’t see a problem with build quality as mentioned in some other reviews. Very happy
Bought this for my son as a present, works just as expected, well built and durable. Loves i
Super quick delivery just before my son’s birthday, but why doesn’t it come with a cable? He’ll be disappointed in the morning. Better get some batteries…
The original and the best. Solid, old-school construction, wide tonal range…great!
What can I say about a classic pedal that hasn’t already been said? I waited nearly thirty years to buy one of these – I thought I didn’t ‘need’ it. It’s true – I didn’t ‘need’ it. But now I’ve got it – I love it! Buy one. You won’t regret it.
Solid as a rock – works like it should. Avoid cheaper imitations.
what can I say a real cry baby, brilliant well packed great delivery time and best price
Awesome piece of kit. I use it both clean and with every kind of distortion + effect, always does the business!
Nothing more to add to what’s been said many times before. Great pedal for going wah wah with.
Classic tones from the classic pedal, simple.
Substantial rock solid build quality.
Not much one can say. Well built, solid with an awsome sound. The perfect wah pedal.
An outstanding product, inspires the player to strive to be better, perfect in every way
I bought this as present for my son who is an accomplished musician. Tho quote him. This is the best pedal i didn’t know i wanted. He absolutely loves i
Provides an amazing authentic sound and in my opinion is the best wah wah pedal.
It’s a Jim Dunlop Cry Baby….need I say anything else?!
Bought as a treat for my son following his Grade 8 Distinction where he had to borrow one from school. The original and best apparently, sounds amazing and he is thrilled with it. Great value through Amazon Marketplace for a barely used one, prompt delivery and good packaging
Excellent quality, great fun. Expensive but you get what you pay for. Arrived very quickly. Extraordinary that at this price they don’t provide a power supply? Seriously?
Bought this for my son for Christmas and it’s great! If you want a good Wah pedal at a decent price then this is it! Definitely recommended.
Great price and fast delivery! Happy Bunny! Bom chicka wah waaahhhhh! 🙂
Best wah pedal ever built!!!!!
You will need to buy either a 9v power supply or some 9v batteries
Present for my husband. He loves it and the house is better for the funky vibe!
This does exactly what I expected good value for money
Excellent pedal!!! Brings a nice warm tone when playing funky riffs and insane when shredding solos.
Great Pedal my son is now going to become an international Rock Star!
Got this for my son for Christmas. He loves it and tells me that it makes his bass sound awesome!
I’ve wanted a Cry Baby since I was a nipper, I saw this model for sale at a VERY reasonable price so I went for it. My only whinge is that it took me nearly forty years to buy one. Brilliant product and the seller was double quick and I had it within three days of my order.
I’m very satisfied with it.

I bought this as a present, I don’t know anything about pedals myself but the person I gave it to loved it and said it worked perfectly. All packaged up very well, good quality.
Sound is quite substantially different from my 1994 version of the same pedal, but a great purchase none the less. I do like the easy access battery door for the PP3 battery as that is a very welcome revision change.
The unit is very unforgiving for unshielded audio cables compared to my previous pedal.
Fantastic item and price and delivery was exceptionally speedy and item very well wrapped.
Good Item. Dropped one star as no Converter supplied for plugging in to a wall socket.
I bought this product in May 2014 and it was great. However, today it has stopped working. I can play my guitar through the pedal but when I switch to wah wah, it cuts out the sound. I use the appropriate electrical adaptor. Any ideas? Thanks.
Bought this based on other good reviews and not dissappointed. Arrived ahead of expected delivery date, which was fantastic. Amazing pedal, definitely recommend i
Love this wah pedal, has all the great sounds of rock, blues and more to boot! Experimental is the way to go with this as it’s no exact science. love it!
Easy to use – plugs into amp and in conjunction with other effects console
makes my guitar sound like David Gilmour is playing it
10 out of 10
Present for my son ! Described my him as really cool ! Quite easy to create some good sound effects !
After playing guitar for nigh on 3 years, I decided that this year wohld be the time to get some pedals. This was by far the most expensive pedal I bought, purely for it’s reputation as a classic, and I have to admit, of all the pedals I got it was the only one that did exactly what I hoped it would- to some extent more.
I am not a brilliant guitarist, nor a knowledgable techie, but I can tell you as someone who likes things that sound good, that this is a brilliant pedal.
WHEN IT ARRIVED PEDAL WAS A BIT STIFF WOULD NOT WORK LOOSENING IT UP BY WORKING THE PEDAL DID THE JOB
NOW IT WORKS JUST FINE .DON’T GO FOR THE EXPENSIVE PEDALS WHEN THIS ONE DOSE THE JOB
Love this pedal. As well as the cracking wah sound, you can also position the pedal to get various out of phase sounds, and pressed fully down gives a good amount of treble boost to cut through. Feels sturdy and well built. Buy one!
It was a present for my son and he is very pleased with the item…..he will get a lot of usage fromi
So simple, perfect for all music lovers, gives great tone, although It needs batteries or a power supply it is still an amazing pedal and a must buy for all guitars lovers
Tyis is just what I wanted and needed and I am totally pleased with it! It adds a whole new dimension to the music.
It is my first wah and has all the qualities you can hope for. The sound is instant classic and the pedal is well built. It looks sturdy and as a soft touch either to turn on or off.
Right now I am enjoying it very much and hoping for it to be durable and reliable through the course of time
I highly recommend this pedal for those looking for a great wah sound, the pedal is durable, it’s very well made and I for one can’t stop using it, once you set it up and start playing you’ll never want to stop…
Highly recommended!
This was the first pedal I bought for my board and I haven’t had any issues with it apart from a slight annoyance with my Diago Powerstation. For some reason this is the only pedal that the standard jacks don’t fit properly. They power it, but don’t ‘click’ and lock into place like they do on my other pedals. I’ve had to resort to a bit of tape to hold it in place.
As a wah tho, I can’t fault it. It’s rock-solid, with a nice action. Well worth the price.
One of those things I should have bought years ago, I read all the reviews and compared all the different models and went for this one. The mains lead is a must ! Just check which side you plug your leads into the pedal eh ..enough said !
I have played guitar for many years now, and I kick myself for not buying this earlier. It is the industry standard for a very reasonable price. As soon as you plug this cry baby in, the sound produced from your amplifier by just playing muted strings is incredible. Absolutely essential for anyone who wants to play any psychedelic/blues rock.
I know very little about Wah Wah pedals except that they sound cool!!
So when I saw the crybaby for a mere 69 in my local music store I thought to myself “that’s cheap, probably not the best one but I will take it”. And boy am I so glad I did!!
The sound of this beauty is astonishing. Ranging from low tone wobbles to full blown screeching it’s perfect for any style you want!!! After further research I discovered not only is the crybaby first choice for many famous guitarists, it’s also really good value too! The only thing I found annoying is that it doesn’t come with a power supply, however it runs on the rectangular 9volt batteries you can get in any good store so it’s not that bad. Plus there is plug-in supplies you can buy from most music shops too.
With a strong Zinc build and thick rubber padding, this monster will last forever. Seriously playing guitar and not owning a Jim Dunlop Crybaby should be illegal!! and at the price of 65 it’s a MUST!
I got this pedal as I was learning ‘Man in the Box’ from Alice in Chains ‘Facelift’ guitar book I got form Amazon. I found it not only good for thta song but also to use in my own songs too. It is easy to use once you get used to it and you dont’ have to press it down to hard either. One thing I will say is that you Have to be frim when you put the battery in if you are using one But ohter than that it’s great! I reccomend it for any rock guitarist who wants soemthing a little bit different to add to their sound!
Nearly 2 decades ago I used one of these, including at a few stage gigs. Lately I’ve started playing again and it didn’t even occur to me that you could still get these original pedals, never mind on mail delivery straight to your door.
On plugin it in, any reservations I had were dispelled in 10 seconds.
Totally original, totally funky & not a crackle in sight.
The business !!
This is one of the must have effects in any Guitarists bag of tricks. There are a lot more sophisticated versions of this pedal available, but for the average player this is the only Wah Pedal you will need. I had looked at several different Wah pedals and was going to purchase a more advanced and expensive version, but then I realised I could just use my compressor pedal after it to fine tune its output and I was amazed with how good it sounds in this configuration. With the money I saved in buying the original I got the mains adaptor and a few other bits for what I would have spent on the expensive version. I use this mostly for playing Thin Lizzy, Jimi Hendrix and GNR songs and it works a treat. It’s built like a tank and is very easy to operate and setup. It needs a tiny bit more of a stomp to engage than something like a boss pedal but that is a minor issue. If your going to buy it, I’d recommend getting the mains adapter as it more than pays for itself in terms of batteries bought over the years.
Great product, very well and securely packed and arrived in only one day after dispatch! Thanks for the prompt service.
This is fantastic
Best pedal I have ever owned.
Best thing to do is to leave it in one position and it gives a completely different sound to the music.
Just play around and you can’t go wrong.
Strong robust cast iron design, I havn’t broken it yet. But I won’t stop trying.
I’m visiting the Spinikar Tower next week to test how well the pavement holds up.
I should try it in space, it is that good it would beat the feather hands down.
Being terrible at guitar solos, I needed a wah pedal to make my music sound acceptable to the human brain without making it bleed. Too many gigs had ended in tragedy.
Luckily, as soon as I invested in a Jim Dunlop GCB95 Cry Baby I was elevated to the status of rock deity. I have grown an extra three fingers on each hand and my solos make inanimate objects spontaneously orgasm.
Thank you, Jim Dunlop GCB95 Cry Baby!
Dunlop GCB95 Crybaby Wah
I bought this for my 16 year old grandson. He is delighted with it. It enhances his guitar playing and makes him feel “like a professional” as he put it.
Don’t bother looking any further for wah pedals – this IS the one you want, and you should buy it!
The original Crybaby wah is by far the best pedal of it’s kind, although it may leave some users wanting more.
If this is the case, don’t be tempted to go for the gimmicky custom Crybaby models like the Slash wah or the Dimebag wah, they look cool, but are ultimately overpriced for what they do.
Go for the Crybaby 535Q Wah, it will do everything the custom jobs will do and then a bit more, pretty much every parameter is adjustable.
This pedal surpasses any other wah pedal ever built – it is robust and the treble to bass foot lever is 100% responsive to even the most subtle of string bends – a must have pedal for any lover of the wah pedal.
Just watch out for the jaw ache that is inherent within this pedal – one cannot help but simulate the sounds produced with mouth action.
Simon Connor/Deborah Rashley
Absolutely delighted with my purchase. My husband has been using the Crybaby with all his favourite Jimi Hendrix tapes and his guitar is now loved even more!! Amazing sounds possible!
This is a great guitar peddle. My man has been in a band for years and has used this brand of peddle. There is nothing wrong with the old one i ran out of ideas for Xmas so i ordered the same one. He thinks i paid a fortune but it was very cheap. This product is build to last. His old one is going to our son as that is still in perfect working order after 10years.
A must for any performing lead guitar player. You cannot go wrong with the cry baby, it sounds awesome with a gig setup. This and a tubescreamer with a tube amp slightly overheated and you will be in guitar heaven.
Jim Dunlop crybaby… doesn’t that say it all? this make of pedal was used by JIMI HENDRIX, the god of guitar. the name gives you an idea on how immense the tone is. great tone and easy to use. whoever bought this pedal would have no regrets. it truly is an incredible wah pedal.
