it looks very good quality and robust bag, used it already a couple of times and it has been really reliable and versatile space….
Easy to find stuff inside due to the lovely colou
Excellent bag. Looks and feels well made. Can be used by anyone.
Can be carried by handles or on your back.
The bag itself holds quite a bit. I used it on a weekend away and I was surprised at how much I could get into it.
A pocket inside allows you to store valuables.
Would be an ideal bag for the gym.
This is a large volume bag, a little bit heavy when you first hold it but you’ll get used to it thereafter. It is made of strong waterproof materials and can wear it on shoulder or use the two sturdy handle as backpack. There is a large U shape zip on the bag and once open you can see everything inside very clearly from a wide perspective, unlike the single zip type, very narrow view. The size is 40L, can actually put lots of things inside for gym, water sports, short trips and many more. Mine is a black one which is universal low profile colour but very dirt resistant, the colour make it hard to see stains or dirt. In terms of cleaning, you can easily use a wet cloth to clean it and air dry it. He only thing which is not very thoughtful is the no. of partitions and pockets, I cannot separate my belongings in different pockets and have to use some small travel bags instead. I hope this will improve in their next design.
The whole bag is well designed and constructed, very lightweight but very robust with room enough for basic clothes and essentials.
Very sturdy with plenty of zipped compartments. The pockets are great for keeping things at hand, it also has strong and adjustable shoulder support strap.
The capacity of it is 40 L, I would say it’s between small and medium. Very useful for short breaks away.
Another great feature is it’s fully waterproofed, it keeps your stuff in the bag dry during rainy days which is very practical, gives you peace of mind.
Would recommend this product, strong and roomy!
I needed a new bag for taking with me on my motorbike. This fits the bill beautifully, being water proof and bright yellow to help people see me. 40L is a plenty big enough for a weekend away, and I’m able to snug it down with bungee straps. If I have less on board, I can use it like a back-pack, so win win. I really like it, and have a feeling it will be a faithful travelling companion for me for many years!
I ordered this Lakeland Active Ullswater Waterproof Convertible Holdall/Backpack as my carry-on flight bag for a planned holiday.
Its 51cm length means it meets major scheduled airlines’ spec, for example British Airways (all cabin classes) max 55cm and Virgin Atlantic all cabin classes) max 56cm. Beware though that EasyJet standard max carry-on length is 45cm.
I chose the yellow colour for the obvious reason, it should be easy to spot in the luggage hold of a transfer bus or wherever.
The profusion of strap options is confusing to me, so not planning to use it in rucksack mode I’ll probably simplify the arrangements.
As others have noted, it’s a single compartment bag with no partitions or pockets available, and that disappoints me. But for a rugged-seeming and waterproof bag it’s fine enough.
This review is for the Lakeland Active Ullswater 40L Waterproof Convertible Holdall/Backpack – Black.
Lovely top quality, well made bag. Arrived well packaged and on time. It has lots of storage compartments and is perfect for back packing or a traveling holiday. Would defo recommend. Great product.
I needed a waterproof bag and preferred one with a wide opening top so I didn’t have to take everything out to reach the bottom and this fit the bill. The bag is strong, rugged and very functional. Loads of space. There aren’t many pockets though. Easy to close and seal. There are two handles to be used as a backpack.
It’s exceptionally well made, with good thick straps and clips to secure it once the top is folded over. It has the feel of a good hard-wearing bag that I know I will have for years to come. Being waterproof will give me peace of mind and the distinctive design and colour will mean that when travelling I will have no problem spotting it on the carousel in the baggage claim.
If there are any improvement suggestions it would be the addition of some inner compartments. It’s basically one very capacious void.
I am going to be using this for my trips to the national water sports centre and also just general gym use as it is very well made and holds plenty of kit, the zips are perfect and it can be both a holdall or a backpack so really this is a very versatile bag, it’s fully waterproof and also has a dry storage pocket for phone and other sensitive equipment, really build quality is superb throughout a great bag.
This bag is lightweight and easy to carry. Excellent quality and waterproof. Fits everything i need. The strap is very adjustable and quick release backpack straps. Great bag.
I really love this bag and my only issue is the price that at 70 is possibly a tad high.
But having the convenience of a waterproof surface, a spacious and capable bag and the option to be worn as a rucksack does make this bag my favourite for small trips or to go to the gym
It’s a little heavy, I think once you get use to it it’s not so bad – it’s fine to wear, just picking up one handed its heavier then expected. 40L. So I’d say small/medium bag.
Waterproof
Vibrant colour so you don’t lose your bag and can be easily seen
Backpack is comfortable to wear, straps are nice and thick and adjustable. Comes with the middle clip to support you whilst wearing. Also has quick release clips at the shoulders.
Has a name tag pocket
Perfect for camping; my partner uses it for his work tools as it makes carrying easier so will see how weight resistant/general wear and tear it is, in time.
The price is what I’d expect for a camping bag to be honest, especially for once that the material seems durable and is full waterproof.
It certainly looks and feels sturdy and well-constructed, and is really a holdall with some extra straps.
This holdall is useful for keeping the rain off your outdoors stuff and I can see it doing the job well. You can detach the carry straps for use as a holdall, or just leave one strap to sling it over the shoulder when you need to. A lot of attention has been put into keeping the contents dry, with welded, taped and glued seams, and the PU outer material. The flap has a generous edge and very sturdy double zip. The carry straps on either end are reinforced with a plastic handle.
It is not a good rucksack if you want to wear this for an extended time. The shoulder straps are a nuisance to adjust and the detachable buckles sit right on top of your shoulders, which is uncomfortable. If you want to go anywhere up anything larger than a hill, then this is not for you in any configuration. If you want to keep everything dry in a canoe or just carry things on that rainy drizzly day, then this is for you.
I feel this is a good quality bag, very sturdy and stylish. It also has very comfortable straps and enough capacity for taking it on hiking or weekend breaks. Although I feel this bag is slightly overpriced for what it is but I can’t fault the overall quality of the product, this is the reason I gave this a 4 out of 5.
