I been using this tool for personal use for 9 years. It has been a great saw. If they have not changed them in that time period then I would highly recommend it. It is only selling for a little more on Amazon than what I paid for it years ago. No problems, cuts perfect and easy to use.
As most of my power tools have been for decades, I bought this jigsaw. It’s just another example of their superb engineering and manufacturing quality.
Faultless.
Having only had a cheap jigsaw before this was a revelation – cuts like a knife through butter. I have used it to fit a floor and it has been a joy to use. I couldn’t quite figure out how to attach the extraction hose but I just put my Hoover tube nearby to suck up the debris. The light is very handy and it stays on course with ease. I would recommend this jigsaw to anyone unless you are dead set on a wireless one. Personally I didn’t find the wire got in the way of operation. Very happy with this product.
E’ leggero da usare, potente ed ergonomico, preciso e non si surriscalda.
I bought this to replace a Bosch jigsaw which admittedly was at the bottom end of their range. Whereas the old one would never cut exactly perpendicularly and was hard to keep in a straight line, this Makita does both with no diffioulty at all.
Both use the same blades so I think the better performance must be due to the Makita’s orbital action. The doubled wattage might also help. Anyway, it’s a huge improvement well worth paying for.
Excelente herramienta, vale cada peso
Silenciosa y estable comparada con otras
La recomiendo ampliamente
I had an old cheap jigsaw from a DIY store that was probably twenty years old; the base plate bent on it and I intended to cut some kitchen laminated worktop so decided to spend a bit more on a decent saw. The Makita comes out well in comparative reviews and in fact was out of stock nearly everywhere except Amazon. Probably for good reason – this is absolutely chalk and cheese compared to my old cheap saw and when used with reverse cut blades gives a beautifully clean and accurate cut in kitchen worktop. Almost vibration-free in use it is comfortable and effortless to use. Very glad I bought it.
Well built, better action than cheap ones, quite heavy, good quality
Was very impressed with a Mkita circular saw I bought recently, so decided to go with the same manufactrer when my jigsaw needed replacing. Without doubt, the main the difference I noticed, compared to my old one, was the lack of blade drfft/wander when cutting out for inserts in a 38mm laminated worktop. It stays straight. I used the blade I got with the saw and covered the worktop face with masking tape for a great finish – no need for a down-cut blade. I didn’t use the orbital action, as this can tend to chip the edges of the laminate, as with all jgsaws, but I tried it on a scrap piece and it flew through. The removable plastic shoe that protects the cutting surface is a good addition. The box is not as good as some other brands, but that’s a small matter. It’s a well made, heavy and solid saw with a no-tool blade change. Delighted.
Nice simple, powerful and precise jigsaw. Plenty of weight and solidly put together. No unnecessary junk like laser lines (it has a nice worklight that shows where the blade is cutting nice and clear, mains powered), just solid engineering.
I like makita products, this one I’ve used to fit one kitchen so far with nice straight lines and clean precise cuts.
Maquina precisa, muy buena calidad-precio, cumple con todas las espectativas
This is the second one of these that I’ve bought (the second was a present for a family member). Very impressive jigsaw which is why I bought the same one. This is a powerful and heavy duty power tool. Accurate cuts and easy to use…I’m a DIYer but this is easily tradesman quality. Well made but not too heavy. Useful storage case…the only downside is that the dust extraction fitting is of a very narrow diameter. You would struggle to find anything to attach it to any dust filtering system. That isn’t a problem for me but something for potential purchasers to consider.
Uses t shank blades in case you’re wondering. Cuts real smooth. I’ve used it to cut plywood as thick as 3/4″ and as thin as 1/8″ without a problem. I’ve used it on plastic sheets as thick as 1/4″ without a problem. And I’ve used it on perforated sheet metal used for ceilings without any problem either. Has a antisplinter plastic piece but ive never used it; also it didn’t seem like it would hold itself in place to withstand the force from splintering wood too well but i cant say for sure. Not too heavy either. The light really helps when you think its not even too dark to see your line. Ive used other jigsaws that blow dust towards the user which is annoying. But this 1 blows the dust towards your work keeping it out of your eyes and keeping your line free of dust/debris from cutting. If a corded model is what you’re looking for, I’d recommend this 1 with satisfaction for sure.
After having two Bosch jigs over the years decided it was time for a change when the last one packed it in…they were workable but not great by any stretch of the imagination. After some research & asking around I got this Mikita & the difference is unreal! So much better in every respect…never looked past Bosch for any power tool previously & this has totally changed my mindset ….a game changer!
Good solid machine, heavy & secure blade action..no visible wobble.
I was using a borrowed cheap jig last weeks making some furniture at home..
First impressions with the makita here…motor sounds quieter, much less vibration & more solid & harmonious.
On the old yoke if you hold the blade and shake it side to side, there was a distinct movement “wobble”, on the makita here its secure & doesn’t move a millimeter.
One small thing i don’t quite understand, there is the little transparent plate there..i think is to avoid splintering of timber…it distinctly touches & rubs the blade on one side & i suppose while using is going to get filed down…hmm…that’s not very precision built.
The unit just arrived yesterday & i’ve been busy with no time to work more but i’ll update this review once i use it for tasks.
So far, thrilled & excited to use.
Mine arrived with 6 blades i think..(i’ll recheck that later on)
Only gripe was that due to the covid situation worldwide, it took a long while to arrive plus as the tracking reached the almost arrived date, i get a message on my phone saying that there has been an issue with the delivery & its been sent back !!! wtf !!! that really got me mad & i went about and ordered it again as i needed it in some urgency..actually a week earlier and i would have already run it through a lot of good usage.
Next day, delivery update & said on its way?
hmm..strange times atm anyways so all is grand and acceptable
Overall well pleased here
Not my first Makita tool, tried and tested now, happy with the brand
Cheers
update: much use later. I LOVE IT !!!
It has a powerful motor, good weight, smooth action.
Yes, that plastic plate mentioned before is getting filed down due to touching the blade. Still have it attached though as its not affecting the cut in any bad way.
I’ve combined this with a set of Bosch blades. My all time fav is the Bosch clean wood series (currently only using for timber projects).
Beauty of a machine, you can know the motor is doing a good job due to the response action, vibration, movement and cut. I’ve managed to cut so smooth and clean, i never knew a jigsaw could cut so clean (novice here of course, more used to manual hand tools & saws & drills etc).
So, i can only say good things about this Makita. Not the cheapest unit but money well spent & i reckon it will be with me for many a moon.
Makita is one of the… you know.
So this jigsaw I took for all my woodworking projects.
Very powerfull (720 watt), quite havy (2.4 Kg), fuse option (13 amper), 6 blades included in case, speed control (from 1 to 5), wood cutting up to 135mm (impressive), nice well made case, orbital option (from 0 to 3), Onboard hex wrench (for fast, accurate bevel adjustments), dust nozzle (included), led light (very usefull).
Made in Romania.
P.S. you can register your Makita at makitauk.com and get 3 year warranty (for free). To my mind its so cool.
Really easy to use. An excellent, well built, solid piece of ki
The last jigsaw I had ( some 25 years back ) was a Black and Decker, so not much to be said there. I decided I needed another, so being aware of Makita’s good reputation I took the plunge. Without doubt this is a quality bit of kit. Smooth, powerful and very well put together. Just what you’d expect for a Tradesman quality tool, and of Makita of course. I used this corded version for a while and then went on to buy the cordless version. Even better, with no cables to get in the way. As for the rest, just re-read what I have already written……
This machine is a beast. Cut through scaffold board like a knife through butter. Accurate cuts and very easy to turn mid-cut.
You have to remove the blade for storage but this is a five second job and doesn’t require tools.
Only con is that the box is a bit flimsier than other Makita boxes but should be ok if you look after it.
I have used most jigsaws on the market but keep coming back to this makita, it cuts very accurately and the quick change system saves so much time.
Have had Bosch jigsaws for years. I bought another not long ago to replace an old one that finally gave out but frankly the replacement Bosch was rubbish. The blade vibrated all over the place making accurate cuts all but impossible. I thought it was me. However, I then thought I would spend a bit more and get something better. I am absolutely delighted. I can now cut straight and square (just had to get rid of the small plastic guard which actually gets in the way of the marking out). Do yourself a favour. If you are serious about DIY (which I am) this is a great tool. Recommended.
My new Makita jigsaw is excellent nice and powerful the only thing I don’t like is the slow start . If you’re not careful you can jam that you saw in the woods but an excellent product .
Uso la sierra como aficionado pero buscaba una mquina de calidad. No la he usado mucho pero las veces que la he necesitado ha funcionado muy bien. Me gusta el inicio lento del principio para coger velocidad rpidamente. As poder controlar mejor cuando empezamos a cortar.
Una cosa que me ha parecido muy interesante que posee a diferencia del modelo anterior (ms barato), es la luz led que te permite ver mucho mejor el corte.
En conjunto la recomiendo.
Always wondered why I cut never get a straight line with my old Bosch jigsaw, just put it down to me not holding it right. Thought it had been stolen from our shed so bought this, all I can say is wow. Now everything I cut is absolutely knife edge straight, so it wasn’t me! This really is suitable for any DIY job you could wish to tackle, unless you are building houses as a profession. The new method if engaging and disengaging blades it simple and quick to use, no more twiddling round a knob waiting for a “click”. Really can’t fault the thing in any way. By the way…if yours arrives with the blade-holding arm in the wrong position, to put the blade in straight, turn it on, and press the start. The blade holder is a pendulum that swings back and forth and sometimes they are packed with the arm in the forward position.
This is an almost a perfect jigsaw. If it had a variable speed trigger and a bigger case I don’t see why anybody would buy anything else. The light is super nice and it’s weight makes it very easy to use. This is a quality jigsaw, though; comfort is an individual thing and if possible I would suggest holding this and some of the competitors. I don’t believe functionally most would have much to fault this saw for.
I’ve used this jigsaw day-in, day-out and it’s simply one of the best out there. It’s so reasonably priced for what it is. Really comfortable to use, good power and really easy to control. It keeps the sawdust away from the cutting line, and the T-top blades are held really securely making it cut rally accurately. It has a bit more ooomph than the LXT version otherwise I would’ve gone for it… sometimes I still wish that I had.
I guess the power cord is the only limitation of the tool but even it is the usual Makita high quality, memory-less cable that rolls up nice and tidy and is a good length. Mine came with a no-marr base plate cover which I find invaluable. I can’t imagine how anyone could improve it… other than the fact it has to be attached to a wall socket, obviously.
This saw is easy to use and feels reliable. I’ve only had it about a few weeks now. I found it is hard to make perpendicular cuts in thick wood, such as 4×4 without a little curvature of the blade, however, I think that’s just a limitation of any jigsaw when using a long blade. The dust blower is nice. The light that turns on while cutting is really helpful to see your line, and I wish my router had something similar. All in all a solid jigsaw.
Great tool. My husband loved. Work great as promised. Thank you.
Contento, MAKITA es una muy buena marca. Vengo de otras con nombre y este modelo cumple sobradamente todas mis necesidades.
Superb jigsaw, far better than my struggling Bosche models that it replaced. Bags of power and a nice clean cut. Ingenious tool change, so simple! I would have given it 5 stars but this particular model was made in Romania although this model seems also to be made in the UK. In a fit of patriotic rage I was about to send it back when I discovered that I could have got a UK made version at Wickes. The display model in Wickes was UK made but the ones they had boxed for sale were also Romanian. I don’t know why Amazon can’t sell us the tools that are made here.
A little heavier than I thought but works great. Plastic guide keeps falling off so have to eye ball.
Having burnt out two Bosch jigsaws I thought it better to spend a bit more for a higher powered machine. This one seems really good. Only used it a few times so far, but cuts much cleaner and straighter than the Bosch ones ever did – maybe the extra power helps here.
I’d borrowed the neighbour’s Ryobi before this purchase (similar power – more expensive). The Makita cut as cleanly, but also kept the dust away with the built in blower, which the Ryobi didn’t.
The unit feels good quality and the kit includes a clip-on plastic soleplate to prevent damage to decorative (varnished?) surfaces and a basic blade set. Good lead length too.
(Was so impressed I’ve invested in a Makita planer as well since another cheapo one had burnt out.)
Very smooth operating jig saw. Not as loud as my older barrel style makita saw. Would highly recommend.
Easy to use with little experience. Draw your lines first,as you know you should or expect to be cutting again.
As good as any jigsaw I’ve ever used (I was a professional cabinet maker for almost 20 years), and better than most.
Really Great Saw, we have used this product extensively and it hasn’t put a foot wrong. Only reason it looses a star is because: there is a little clear plastic piece that is meant to surround the blade which constantly snags and falls out (although isn’t really required). And second, the blades supplied with the saw are a bit rubbish and blunt quickly. However, this is still a great product and I would purchase again.
Works fine. All the Makita line have a great reputation.
Le doy 4 estrellas porque es recien comprada.Tengo una de la misma marca, un poco menos potente, que va ya por los 20 aos largos, con uso bastante continuado (soy profesional de la construccin).El cambio de hoja sin herramienta es de lo mejo
