My almost 2 years old loves playing with this, taking it out and stacking it again! Very good quality/money value!
The best gift my little girl had for her 1st birthday. After a month she managed to do it herself and she can play with it for hours in the day!
My niece loved this toy when she was little so I picked it up for my friends baby as a gift, he liked it too!
Perfect . Really enthusiastic. Pretty colours and my baby loves playing with
Vibrant colours and lovely toy. There is something about wooden toys that we love. Tactile, traditional and easy to clean. 20 month old granddaughter really enjoys this. We can talk colours, shape and pattern.
I think we take it for granted we need to learn about size and sorting but she soon seemed to learn there was an “expected” outcome ..not saying right or wrong as that’s all in the opinion huh?
Bought for my 1 year old grandson as additional Xmas present. He loved playing with toy and chose to play with it instead of his main Xmas present!
A really good wooden stacker. My 9 month old granddaughter loves it. The rings are sturdy . It is ideally sized for younger childre
Bought for my granddaughter. She is a little too young at the moment but I’m sure we will have hours of fun playing with this toy
Vibrant colours, easy play. My 5 month old loves the noise it makes as we stack it!!
This is my daughter’s favourite toy!
She has lots of wooden toys and some plastic toys. This is her favourite as she loves to pull the rings off. Since she could sit she loves to dismantle then crawl and play with the rings on the floor. The next stage is learning how to re-stack. My older children love to play with this toy with the baby too. Fun for all!
The toy still looks new. The colours don’t run, no chipping or flaking. The rings have been gnawed and thrown but looks perfect.
The only criticism is the red ball on top sits about 1cm above the top ring so it doesnt look exactly like the photos as advertised.
I’d still highly recommend!
It’s a favorite toy now. Sturdy and durable with bright colors and so many uses. Love i
Ideal gift for my granddaughter who played with it for hours. Different shapes made it interesting for her and helped with dexterity
Amazing toy for my 14 month old. Finally managing to put it all in though incorrect order but now he found the hole.
Excellent toy. This is the first thing that my Granddaughter goes for when visiting. Great for coordination and organisational skills. Well made & durable.
Nice bright colours, smaller than expected. Bought for my one year old he loves i
My 2 year old daughter absolutely loves this product.
She LOVES to stack and the bright colours are brilliant for her.
Quality product as described arrived early in good packaging. Purchased as a gift for Great grand son.
Exactly as you’d expect! As described and pictured, nice wooden toy for nursery at a good price
I love that there wooden and will be buying more Melissa & Doug toys there so good and better than plastic I personally think.
After playing with one of these at someone elses house, we decided to buy one for our 18 month year old son. He loves it!!!!. The product appears to be very well made. A few of the shapes were slightly out of ‘perfect shape’, but i think that adds to the whole ‘hand-made’ feel to the toy. Paint seems to be holding out well after 2 weeks of daily use.
The upright pegs have not drifted or loosened, which is usually the case with similar poorer quality products.
Thumbs up, would recommend .
our one-year old loves this. both stacking the coloured rings and just carrying them around have given her so much joy.
Little one isn’t quite at the stacking stage but not far off. still enjoying playing with the rings and rolling the top ball.
Love the old fashioned style of toy
Bought for new great grandson. Something for later. His parents were thrilled with it. His grandad had one similar and it is still around. He is 56.
My son loves it, so much .. 2 and half … just started to do it himself… wonderful toy .. highly recommended for children with autism ..
Really nice gift to give the colour attracts the child eye and holds their attention
Rugged toy allowing for long life of gif
Childminder another huge hit here. Children are 20mths – 9yrs and they all love this. Little one use it for stacking, colours , counting etc, older ones like to stack, make patterns, counting
Best toy I ever bought for the bairn, plays with it everyday and chooses it over all his million other toys. Only slight gripe is a few of the pieces have marks on where the paint must not have been fully dried when it was put together. It is a must have toy for anyone with a youngster, hours of fun and very robust x
Love this item. My daughter really enjoys pulling it apart after we’ve put it together. Happy with the quality.
The product is extremely well made and each ring is chunky and safe for little ones (bought for my grandson aged 18 months). The reason I’ve not given it a 5 star review is that the pieces are heavier than I thought they would be and he has thrown one of them at his 4 year old sister! The red ‘ball’ on the top doesn’t fix down or screw on and keeps falling off when he picks the stack up after completing it. I spend quite a lot of time on my knees retrieving it from under a table or chair!
Highly recommended for baby’s. My year old can sit for hour and stack the rings up. He loves it so much.
He’s already learned sizes and puts them in order !!
Fast delivery, well packaged, great price. No splinter or paint chips. Very well made. Baby loves it. Would highly recommend.
Great little logically toy for my little boy. He’s more obsessed with hiding all the different rings but it has withstanded his chewing and his banging it against every surface he can reach. Very happy. And so much nicer than the plastic alternative. Extremely happy
Got this for my son, loved it at 9 months old and now he’s 1 he has mastered stacking the rings back on. He also loves when we roll the rings along the carpet. Excellent toy, and all the better for being wooden rather than plastic
I love Melissa and Doug toys, my daughter wanted a train and I didn’t want plastic. She’s 2 and loves it. I just wish these beautiful wooden toys didn’t come wrapped in plastic! That was the only reason I dropped a star.
Great toy really bright and great quality but smaller than expected
Really lovely toy. Beautiful bright colours which don’t fade, lovely smooth wood, and great size for small children. My 7 month old loves this.
Great value! And great quality! I personally love eco friendly toys.
My little one was able to put all rings on when she was 13 months.
I prefer this one because it’s little bit more difficult than other brands with bigger middle part
And looks lovely too.
Great educational toy for very wide age bracket.
hinking my toddler wouldn’t crack the system of stacking ( good teething ring tho) then 18 months came and like a light switch… he was stacking like mad for a week now it’s old news . but still learning the colours with i
We bought one then it lasted for two years and still good so we bought another for our goddaughter. Excellent value for money and our 3YO still using it now and the
Love that this stacking toy is wooden as it makes it much longer lasting as well as being better for the environment which is great especially with the current awareness for plastic. The only downside to this is that because it is wooden it is smaller than I anticipated in comparison to other stacking toys made of plastic, however the durability of the wood and the environmental benefit far outweighs the smaller size.
Two year old loves it and so does the now one year old very good toy for all to learn colours shapes and sizes brilliant 🙂
Amazing quality, perfect gift for my little ones first birthday. I just love the colours!! I’ll be buying more of these as gifts
Love this good quality, sturdy toy. My child is a real chomper and can take the paint off most things but this is standing up extremely well! She loves it and so do I!
Very good product. Has a good quality feel and look to it. Perhaps a little smaller than I imagined but still looks great. Baby loves them so have to say I am very happy.
I bought it for my 2 year old, he gets annoyed and inpatient that there’s 3 different shapes but I’m trying to teach him each one goes on to a different pole. But he loves the colours and likes organising them the way he wants at the moment.
Nice product, a lot smaller than what i thought it was going to be.
For the low price this is a really exceptional toy! It’s very solid, yet light enough for both my special needs child and baby to pick up and play easily with. Great buy and better then plastic
I give this 5 stars for its resistance, bright beautiful colors, and the fact that the shapes of the blocks are not all so easy to fit, therefore maintaining the challenge and the kids’ interest for longer.
A good toy to keep baby atention and increase his motor skills. Finnaly the pieces are all over the house
Little one isn’t quite at the stacking stage but not far off. Before he learns this he’s still enjoying playing with the rings, rolling the top ball and discover if you leave one ring on and shake it it make a great noise!
My 18 month old loves this !! And whats better its not one of the stackers that have a cone shape stick to put them on meaning they can put them on in any order without them getting stuck halfway down even my 6 year old has been playing with it. Great toy and well made.
My LO loves it… she seems to prefer the stick that holds the donuts for now lol but she’s just 7 months old and I’m pretty sure she will enjoy it a lot more once she’s a bit older. Im always supervising as the packaging says suitable for 18+ months. I bought as it had a good price
Really well made, stylish looking toy but most importantly, it keeps my 18 month old daughter entertained for a good length of time where nothing else will!
Bought for Grandson’s 1st Birthday. He loves it. The only thing that worries me slightly is when he takes the rings off the wooden pole that they slit onto, and wields the wooden pole upside down like Thor’s Hammer! Great fun though, he adores it. The colours are very bright.
I like this toy for 18 month old. He spends a length of time putting all the shapes on and then tipping them off and starts again. This toy will teach hand-eye coordination. The toy was delivered all packaged nicely as shown. Bright colours and decent price. Would recommend.
Appears to be good quality wooden stacks. Our 10 month old daughter lives pulling the rings off. Great when avoiding plastic toys. We have also purchased a 100% recycled shape sorter.
I was looking for a wooden stacking toy and this was exactly what I wanted. It’s solidly made, perfectly size, lovely vivid colours and my daughter happily plays for hours with it.
Nice and colorful. My baby loves it, although he is still very small and we need to be careful that he does not hit himself with the stick where the rings are hold
Our little 1 year old absolutely loves this and I’m sure it’ll get a lot of use over the coming year. A nice, traditional childrens toy. The only reason for four stars instead of five is that the product arrived with a small dent in the wood at the front. It’s not a big issue and certainly not worth sending back for. Overall, very pleased.
I bought this product back at Christmas for my niece who at the time was 20 months old. She is a big fan of stacking toys so this was usprisingly a huge hit. The toy it’s self is extremely sterdy and feels very well made, plus the colours are lovely and vibrant.
Bought for my 6/12 old, still getting lots of play out of it 5 months later (even if it’s mostly me putting the rings on and him taking them off again!) Well made, nicely coloured and a welcome change from all the plastic out there.
My daughter really enjoys playing with the doughnuts, as they’re colourful, different sizes and stackable.
The only reason why this is not a 5 star rating is because the pole came out of the base after a very short time and I’ve needed to glue it back.
Nice set of stackables good for any age kid. Looks durable.
Really lovely toy, parts big enough in case they want to chew on them
Its second time I ordered this one as kids live to play with them
beautiful looking toy and baby loves it but I’m worried about the wooden stick (as its quite thin) incase the baby puts it in her eye or falls on it..
The quality was a litle bit off but even though it’s a great toy and my kid love it. My husebund fix the sckrachiness and inperfections with some of his tools and it’s great now.
An absolutely fabulous, beautifully made wooden toy. I bought it for my 1 year old grandson who loves playing with it – perfect for little hands. But the big plus is that this is going to continue to stimulate for ages, as it’s quite complex to assemble correctly. Ideal to learn about shape and colour. And so very reasonably priced ( Saw a very boring monochrome version in the Design Museum shop in London for 3 times the price!) Totally recommended!
Most impressed by this toy train. It is robust, colourful and has huge play value. My 18 month granddaughter absolutely loves it and spends a good half hour taking it apart and finding many inventive ways to put it back together. Eight yr grandson also had immense fun with it. A successful and valued buy.
I bought this for my 2 year old Child. He constantly brings it out to play with. It’s just the right size for a toddler, it’s beautifully made, brightly coloured and when my child does not use it as a stacking toy he plays with the pieces using them as as building blocks!. Excellent choice of learning toy for your own child or as a gift.
baby likes it. I like wooden toys too so i think it is also good value for money, comes as an add on. however i dont know if its safe if baby still likes to bite on toys.
My 18 month old loves this. She loves tipping it upside down and putting the pieces back on how she wants. Only to tip it upside and start again. It looks lovely and everyone that comes round is impressed by it. I would definitely recommend.
Got this for my 1 year old for his birthday last month and he loves it. Had worked put how to stack and unstack the rings already. Is a great toy to develop his fine motor skills, hand-eye co-ordination, and concentration skills. Also much cheaper and better quality for the price than you would find in stores.
Great toy for my 18 month old niece. She loved the bright colours and it kept her entertained for ages trying to stack all the pieces on the wooden poles. Much more advanced the the one stack alternatives so should be a useful toy as she gets a bit older. Would throughly recommend.
Bought for 15 month old, who has really taken to this toy. Spends up to half an hour at a time taking the rings off and stacking them back on again. A real winner and no loud noises or flashing lights!
INSTANT HIT WITH MY GRANDDAUGHTER,I bought her these as part of her 1st Birthday Present. She played with the at once they are easy for her to handle and I am sure she will learn to stack them
Such an important toy for toddler development, well made, stands up to the abuse that toddlers give it smashing the bits around. They start wondering how to use it and within no time are stacking in the correct order!
Old wooden toys are the best. My one year old has loads of plastic electronic toys but prefers this stacker. Nice quality and paint doesn’t crack when you wash it.
My kid was playing with this with a pleasure. It is a solid made toy. The woods are harmless and not toxic so this is best puzzle toy we have had for the time. It takes kids attention for hours which ensures you some quite time.
Lovely colours, sturdy wood.. Nicer than cheap plastic ones. Seems quite small, which is probably a good thing as my 10 month old takes all the hoops off and swings it around like a little thor hammer.. Bottom edges could have been more rounded to prevent it hurting so much when you are unfortunately whacked with it by a small child.. Especially if they hit them selves because of course they look at you like it’s your fault!
I bought this toy for my 2 year old grandson who has just been diagnosed autistic and it is the only toy he actually “plays” with. All other toys he just throws about or loses interest within a few minutes. it is really good for his hand/eye co ordination and I highly recommend it.. I give it top marks.
A lovely item, was purchased as a gift and was very well received. Packaged in clear wrap, so when presented as a gift has an instant reaction. The train rolls along well and the primary colours are attractive for young children. The stacking pieces slide on and off easily and had no splintering edges to be concerned about. Recipient has enjoyed playing with this toy and its use can be expanded to teaching colour sorting, shapes and numbers. Looks very nice on the toy shelf when not in use so Mummy was happy too.
I know these are toys but, I bought these after my husband had a stroke. They were a huge help for my husband to help his hand and eye co-ordination Very good quality He still uses them every day. and inexpensive compared with similar items from purpose made products.
I purchased this for my 1 year old nephew and was told it is perfect, as he likes to take it apart and his older (4 year old) sister puts it back together for him. So it sounds like it is a great success.
Very good, I would prefer I would not split, and it would be lighter as a quality, because my kid was not big enough and put it apart and throw it all around
I have now bought two of these, having loved the quality and finish of the first purchase I got another as a gift. It’s a nice size for little ones, and is currently used as a teether by my little boy until he is old enough to grasp the stacking concept. Has a curved base to reduce the toppling over effect.
I love Melissa & Doug for all their great toys…. This one keeps my toddler engaged for a long time. It helps him improve his motor skills and colour awareness. After playing with it for several times, he has now figured out to sort them by shape rather than mixing all shapes. 🙂
This was a great buy for us. I initially bought it for my son who is 2.5 years older than his sister but since she’s grown she’s really taken to playing with the train-trucks and driving them along. It would be great if they came with a piece of string or something to pull along for the younger kids, but that’s something I can do on my own, so it’s not a problem. I love the blocks, they’re solid, good colours and fit together really well. Very well made toy.
I just bought this item for a friend’s baby as I have expericence of my two boys having hours of fun with it. Multiple learning opportunity from use as a train, counting, colours and various assembly options. A lovely and robust toy which has kept its paint coverage despite being well used and I would not hesitiate to recommend this as a total winner and superb value for a solid wooden toy.
We were looking for good wooden toys, and this is certainly one of them. Even though our son somehow managed to break off one of the pegs connecting the carriages, as it was wood it was easily glued back on again. (If this had been plastic, it would have been a write-off.) One minor issue with quality-control on the unit we received — it seems like it had been assembled in the factory before the paint was completely dry, so the blocks were slightly stuck together and the paint where they touched came off in separating them. But you know at least that this will take a beating and still be there even when other toys have long since been destroyed. It is a good size as well.
This is quite a large toy but is beautifully made and painted. The many wooden shapes can be built in may ways so that the load can be carried by the engine. A push and pull toy which I attached a screw and string to the front so that my 2 year old could pull the train along the carpet. Excellent educational toy for either sex.
My 22 month old likes this train, it’s a good chunky size, bright colours etc. It’s not one of his favourite toys at this stage and I do agree with what others have said about the paint. I have a couple of Melissa and Doug toys and paint flaking off is a downside to their toys in my experience. But good for the price.
Building blocks and train in one toy – what more can a chilid wish for?
It is very lovely toy, and my son enjoys it a lot.
Two minor issues – the paint gets off pretty easy, so i wouldn’t advise using the toy for teething.
And pegs on the middle part of our train are a bit crooked, so not all blocks can fit on them.
A lovely toy for my one year old but was a lot smaller than I expected but my own fault for not reading the dimensions!! My son enjoys playing with the rings but very small for him to replace onto the stand. He will grow into this toy so am sure he will enjoy better in the future!
I’m a big fan of Melissa and Doug. I ordered this for a friends 6 month old. I was a little shocked at how small it was at first, but as the child was so young I thought it would e perfect for her little hands and fingers. Lovely and colourful and very well made.
My daughter is 16 months and loves this train, its much bigger than I thought it would be and made wonderfully like all the Melissa and Doug products. It has big chunky pieces, I can imagine keeping this for future children and I will be buying it for friends in the future it really is lovely to look at and in play.
Good quality toy that is not serving its real purpose yet as I seem to have purchased this a little too early. But the little one loves pulling it apart, chewing the rings, etc. I am not giving it a 5star as plastic, noise-making toys seem to be a lot more successful with babies than these lively wooden items. I just seem to think that long term toys like these will be more beneficial
Rated this product 4 for durability as the paint is quite thin and already we can see the wood through it.
It is very colourful and the blocks are nice and chunky.
Although I bought this product through Amazon it was bought from another company (Molibob Toys); I also bought another M&D product from them at the same time, but they charged me two lots of postage (at around 5.00 each time) even though they came together in the same package, so I would avoid this company and look for another.
I bought this as a 1st birthday present for my cousin and while he’s a bit young for it right now he can definitely grow into it. We adults even had loads of fun playing with it! The pieces stack well, it moves smoothly, and the parts are chunky and easy to grip. You can also use the blocks on their own to build other shapes. Great for encouraging hand-eye co-ordination and colour and shape recognition.
Two things that let it down
1) I noticed the paint had come off one of the blocks where he had chewed it.
2) A presentation box or bag to store the pieces when not in use would be useful, as I can imagine the blocks getting lost.
But a good buy overall.
I bought this little train for my granddaughter, just 1, who was staying here for a couple of days. It’s beautifully made from smooth wood, and attractive with its bright primary colours.
She enjoyed unstacking all the wooden blocks from it, but hadn’t mastered putting them back on again before she returned to her own home. I gave her the train to take home, so it would get more use before she outgrew it.
It’s a pull along toy too, which I am sure she will use when she is more confident on her feet.
Melissa & Doug Stacking Train
It is an excellent toy. The parts are quite chunky, easy for little children to handle. It has wheels so it can be pull and push along. The parts can be rearrange and sorted the way the children like. Great educational toy for young children to learn about colour, shapes, structures as well as to develop their fine motor skills, dexterity, help story telling and game play. It is one of my best toys for the children I care for.
