This was purchased to replace an electric mower easy to assemble and starts with no issues, plenty of height adjustment and does a decent cut.
Worth the money.
Its easy to assemble and use but not very robust. Quite a cheap feel about it.
The mower is easy to use and the cut is excellent. I would highly recommend i
Bought for my son he has only good things to say about this. Updated from older version.
Great little lawnmower it’s light and easy to use it was also easy to assemble it cut the grass great and is brilliant for small to medium sized garden s
Never had a petrol mower before but thought I’d give this one a try, absolutely love it! Probably overkill as I don’t have a big garden but it makes mowing fu
I bought one, delivered today, as in the previous reviews, the assembly instructions were a joke, very deficient. I googled it and found a youtube video which was very helpful, otherwise I couldn’t have done it. Beside this, every thing went fine. Started from first time, and managed to cut through lawn of 10 inched length. My recommendation is to review instructions, detailed instructions will be helpfull.
Makes cutting easier than an electric when it’s a bit damp ou
Nothing bad to say about this my other half is over the moon he says it is so easy to use also cuts fantastic . All I will Add is you won’t be disappointed.
Very easy to put together. I would suggest you use a rubber mallet to carefully drive the two parts of the lower handle into the locating holes in the deck. You can see when the handle has reached the bottom of the holes as there’s a slot at the each side behind the rear wheels.
You’re going to need 500ml of lawnmower engine oil as it comes without any. Don’t be tempted to start the mower without first putting the oil in or you will ruin it. Ideally you should use a funnel to put the oil in. I tipped the mower over about 40 degrees so that the oil filler cap was easier to get to.
After filling the fuel tank my mower started first pull! You don’t even have to mess about with choke or priming bulbs. Just pull the cord and off she goes. Runs absolutely smoothly with minimum visable emissions. Only did a quick test cut of our small back lawn but it handles easily and seems to give a decent cut. It’s a lot lighter than my old mower which I have passed on to my daughter and son inlaw.
First off remember to get some oil, as it doesn’t ship with any!
Replaced a 20 year old mountfield that finally gave up the ghost.
The change to plastic from steel makes it very light and manoeuvrable. Starts very easily and reasonably quite.
Quite a small mower and limited grass box so not for bigger lawns.
Each wheel is height adjustable which is strange.
Happy with it so far.
Good little mower light easy to use starts straight away
Easy to set up and so happy on my first use of i
I liked the plastic bed, my last one was aluminium and a bit heavier. liked the absence of a primer, never worked particularly well. not keen on the way the wheels are mounted, steel brackets will probably rust so dollops of WD40 before using. Don’t like how the handles fold, they will wear the coating off in no time so WD40 again. Odd that there’s no oil drain plug, don’t you change the oil, I always changed the oil very year. I might have to make up some sort of suction device to drain the oil. Loads of warnings about not leaving petrol in. I’ve left petrol in over Winter and never had a problem. Let’s see if it lasts as long as my last mower, 22 years. Mind you I’ll be 98 then and past caring!
I brought this on a Black Friday deal so until about the end of March it won’t really be tested
Perfect for what I need it ie cut the grass
This lawnmower is very basic but the upside is it is very lightweight and cost effective. It does not produce a beautiful striped effect but cuts effectively and picks up grass and leaves very well. The motor starts easily and runs well, if slightly noisily. Basically the whole thing does what it says on the box and the really good news is that it is made in Italy not China like all of the others!
Lightweight adjustable wheels means you can adjust grass height easily
Feels solid but quite heavy. Would be good if instructions said how much oil to put in rather than relying on the dip-stick for the first time. But that’s being picky and looking for a fault. Only just used for first time. Have a large garden so grass box needs emptying frequently. But looks good after it’s cut.
The machine was easy to assemble but the upper handle was wider than the lower handle by about 80mm. I queried this and asked if an upper handle from a larger model had been supplied by mistake but was told that was not the case. I ended up bending the upper handle legs in so it was easier to assemble. Apart from that I’m very happy with the machine so far.
Fantastic mower. Easy to assemble and very quiet. Delivery was fantastic.
Starts easily, straightforward controls and instructions, small and light enough to be a delight to use on our two areas of lawn in our cottage style garden.
Good machine as usual with mountfield. Takes care of what battery mower can’t.
This mower was easy to assemble, an easy starter and just about perfect for small/medium lawns.
Easy to assemble. Very easy to use. Did not enjoy the instructions as confusing
I bought this for my husband and he like it, my husband said got to be the best lawnmower he had, I would recommend this lawnmower for a small to medium size garden not a large garden.
Arrived quickly.
Assembly was easy. You will need to get engine oil separately.
Also fuel additive.
Starts easily.
I have had a Mountfield mower previously & find it , easy to assemble, easy to use, & lightweight for a 60yr old lady like myself to mow the lawn with. This mower arrived before the due date, well boxed with easy instructions on how to assemble which took about forty minutes. I would definitely rate this mower as a good buy
Starts each time, feels light yet powerful & easy to use.
For the money: absolutely spot on. Fill with oil and fuel, one pull and you’re cutting. Great grass collection on dry grass. Usual mountfield quality cut. Light to push, easy to manoeuvre, easy emptying of grass box. Only downside is will not fold flat due to design of handle on this model. Great little mower, recommend to all
Make sure you purchase engine oil or have at least half a litre of suitable oil ,it doesn’t include any with it.
Easy assembly and very light compared to my old Stiga mower (which was very good). Bought it for my allotment as using my Stiga meant transporting it to and fro and my push hand mower was hard work if the grass was growing long!
Anyway chuffed to bits with the Mountfield so far!
Easy to start and no choke or fuel tap to worry about. Light and easy to push and small enough to keep in my small shed. Seller strongly recommends draining the petrol at the end of the season or using fuel conditioner. I’ll just run it till the fuel is gone on the last cut. This stops it getting gummed up over winter and resulting in it being hard to start, come the spring.
So, very happy so far and I’m very glad I bought it!
Excellent product easy to assemble and easy to use a good buy
This is my 2nd Mountfield machine. The 1st one I had lasted me 15 years and ive replaced it with this HP41. Very pleased that it has a polypropylene body because my old machine of 15 years had a steel body and rusted through.
OK on to my review of this HP41. Very easy to assemble. Definitely add the fuel stabiliser to the petrol required for this machine…. The stabiliser additive enhances the engines performance giving it quicker starting and also It stops the fuel from going off. The oil filling cap and hole is in a slightly awkward position but with a long enough funnel you wont have any issues filling it with oil. I would definitely recommend this machine.
Just the job for my size of garden, easy to use, easy clean, economical
Light weight, made cutting the lawn stress free, quick and easy.
his is my second mountfield but my first one that has plastic chassis great mower , as for amazon delivery it arrived open upside down due to the shipping label being up on the bottom of the box , thankfully no damage more luck than anything else
