The Princess 42 has all the attributes required for quick, efficient and precision cutting of a medium-sized lawn. It is powered by a 1800W motor and has a cutting width of 42cm. Hand-propelled, it has 15m of cable and a cavernous 50-litre collection bag. The rigid collection bag, with a window to allow easy viewing of the contents and mulching plug offer a choice of lawn maintenance. Choose between six different cutting heights, ranging from 25 to 75mm dependent on conditions.

The Mountfield Princess 38 was a bit fiddly to put together, the grass collection box was a little problematic to assemble and the alignment of the handles took a little adjustment. Overall we are seeing good results. The lead is of a good length too.
Returned original purchase, a Flymo, as height lever wouldn’t stay in place. This is by far a superior mower.

Great mower except that the pin , that connects the cutting height fell out , and got chewd up .I modified a nylon spacer that works better .
Brought the Mountfield princess 38 recently and can honestly say after researching lawnmowers I’m very happy with my purchase, easy to assemble very light and easy to use and cuts very well with its different heights

Brilliant lawn mower best we have had so far by miles the grass box is a bit tricky to click into place but got there in the end. Mows beautifully my garden is looking the best it has in ages.

This mower does a good job and the actual mower itself was easy to put together but oh my word, the grass box was a nightmare! Took us ages then we ended up taking the advice of another reviewer and using a long handled screwdriver to help put the black plastic bits into the red bits!!
This was the first cut of the year and the grass was long and wet. Although it’s not a good idea to cut wet grass I wanted to see how the mower performed. My lawn is very thick as it was only laid last spring. So to sum it up I am very happy with the performance and look forward to cutting the grass for the rest of the year not that I really enjoy cutting grass
