Three layers of “flaps”, including an insulated middle one, makes this way more energy efficient that those we have used before. My one complaint is that the flaps are secured to the doggie-door frame by a row of tiny screws along the top of the flaps. The holes for the screws are not round; they’re oblong and vertical. So, Every few days, I have to wiggle the group of flaps back upward, because the screws have allowed the flaps to slide down about 1/4″. The door still works, but the flaps overhang the frame opening at the bottom. That means the door does not swing closed as it catches on the bottom lip of the frame, leaving a gap at the bottom and making it less energy efficient. When it’s off kilter like that, the dog has to shove it a little harder to get back in. Over time I think this will wear out the door. I can’t simply tighten the screws so they don’t slide down. Trying that nearly strips the screw heads. I wish the screw holes were just circular. That would solve the problem: no room to slip down. I might fill the gaps in the screw holes with hot glue and see if that helpswhen I become frustrated enough to search for the glue gun.
The lock out panel is nice and sturdy. Easy to slide in and out. But it is not designed to stay attached. You remove it completely when not in use so that runs the risk of it getting lost/damaged.
It was a pain in the rear to install, for someone with little carpentry skills. The template wasn’t super helpful. The hardest part was drilling holes in both sides of the door so that the inner and outer frames align. You have very little room for error. I cussed. A lot. But once it was installed I felt it was a well made design, overall. I would buy it again if needed.
Was easily installed in the same door where my dogs killed the last dog flap, seems to keep out the elements and cold air but let the dogs have free access. As the puppy is only a third of the weight of the bigger dogs he literally charges or launches himself at the dog flap.
Will have to see if it lasts longer than the original which was designed for upto 20kg dogs, mine are 3 times that so in fairness no surprise that it only lasted a month.

Great dog trap door. Very easy to install, you just need a jigsaw and screwdriver and away you go. The door flap is solid and keeps wind and cold out. Took the dog two days to be fully comfortable using it.
This is a good dog door and our Irish Wolfhound is able to use it with ease but it was too big in the door to be able to fit the locking plate. However, our Wolfhound and 2 cats are happy using it.

I now have a warm house, my previous dog flap/pet door use to blow open with even a gentle breeze, and so my kitchen was always freezing cold in the winter. This door however managed to stay shut even when we had very strong winds that were blowing plant pots around, even strong enough to move my greenhouse that is weighted but not screwed down. And yet, through all this the pet door stayed closed – brilliant. I have large dogs and they are able to push the flaps open easily enough when they wish to use it and the door also has a clip on cover too which my old one didn’t for when you wish to close it off and stop the dogs going out (not that I ever do) but I least I have that as I viable and aesthetic option.
All in all a fab product, relatively easy to fit and does exactly what it claims to do.
I didnt read any instructions. I watched utube videos b4 i bought it. This is the easiest fasted bit of diy i have ever done…..do not be scared to cut your door!

Would fit literally any dog, its huge, be sure to measure your door tho, I purchased this for my sisters house and it didn’t fit the back door so I took it back to mine and it fit my back door perfectly, we both have rottweilers and could have done with a smaller size, not complaining just for an idea for people

First I needed to make the existing hole in our door smaller. The hole template was invaluable at this stage.The-new door was easy to fit. What took the time was fitting decorative mouldings to hide the infills.
Our dog soon mastered the task of getting out of the door, but barked to come back in especially in the early hours of the morning. We put a night light in our utility room, which seems to have solved the problem!
We are confident that our new door will not blow open as readily as the previous one did.
We live in northern Alberta and we need a study dog and cat door for when the weather gets down to -30 to -35. Our cats were small when we installed it and it was easy for them to go through i
Should come with 2 covers for when you want to restrict access! Dog only knows it’s out of action from one side! (Bought anther from pet safe USA site!) flaps are sturdy, my 7kg puppy has no problem getting through.

No problems so far and the wind howls past our door !!!
Has stopped the rain coming in with the wind .
Would definitely recommend.
Excellent product. Much better than the one with a single flap. The corridor where my dogs flap is was cold but it’s now really snug and warm. Took dogs a while to get used to it. Cat had no problem though

Bought this to replace an existing dog flap of the same make as needed additional insulation from the weather. Installation was a bit tricky even with two people you need about six hands each to hold it all in place whilst you tighten all the fixings. However, once installed and the flaps adjusted slightly it does a great job keeping the weatherout, even the cat can still easily use it.

Viel Technik, “viel Probleme” kennt man ja.

I had the single flap door that I purchased from Lowe’s. The flap was broken on the edges that I fixed with duck tape, but the single flap is not energy efficient.
I have been looking for a replacement door or flap system that would be energy efficient.
I called Pet Safe and was told that the 3 flap system would not fit the old door.
Well thanks to a modification, it fits PERFECTLY.
The reason it is not an easy swap, is because the 3 flap is deeper than the single flap. It is made to fit a regular door. The screen door is not as thick as a regular door, so the frame hangs out from the door and does not fit flush front and back.
So here is what was done: make the outside flush with the screen door and build a lip for inside the door.
The opening for the frame is the same as the old, it just needs a lip for inside the door which was done by using moulding nailed together and sealed with caulking.
The inside flap is an insulation pad which is not see through, so my dogs were initially hesitant to use.
It does take more effort for them to push through the 3 flaps, so puppies and elderly dogs may have a issue.
I’m thinking about removing the middle insulation flap to make it easier for my dogs to see through both flaps and making it easier for them to use. Both dogs are 6yo, 1 is 20 pds and the other is 42.
Ironically, the 20 pd dog was braver than the 40 pd dog in terms of willingness to try it out. With treats and lots of praise they are getting accustomed to the new set up.
I’m not sure why Pet Safe does not have an adapter kit for people who own the origin single flap door. It could include a lip to help this fit the old door.
We upgraded to the All Weather Large pet door when the wind starting blowing snow through our regular Pet Safe aluminium door. We have had Pet Safe doors for over 10 years; replacing the flaps 1-2x a year due to rough and tumble three large dog household. I contacted customer service, very helpful actually, because their website did not give the dimensions of the All Weather door. Customer service had the dimensions and gave us the tip that even though the All Weather door was a few mm wider, it should fit in the existing opening. Worked a treat! Slipped the All Weather into the previous regular opening, small nudge and screwed right together. The All Weather is thicker, so they advise buying a door spacer. Our door width was ok. The All Weather model is thicker, the reason being it is actually two regular Pet Safe doors/flap with an insulated panel in-between. The All Weather has METAL screws which was a nice improvement from the plastic ones. Three greyhounds and a jack russel took right to the new three layer arrangement. It has been gusty windy day today: no snow coming in and no draft. A note from previous posts: it may look like a gap on the sides of the flaps but ours has no gap and no draft. Highly recommended!
Very pleased with this product. It is also draft-proof as claimed.

I replaced an old PetSafe single flap dog door and wish I did it a long time ago. The previous flap had a habit of not closing all the way, essentially creating a wind tunnel in my house and requiring the climate control to be running way more than it should. I live in a relatively mild climate, but I’ve been amazed at the difference it has made. I was never happy with the install job don’t by the previous homeowner, but I wasn’t sure how to fix the problem. I bought this door because the footprint was almost identical to the previous PetSafe door, so I had to do very little to enlarge the existing hole, which was a huge plus. The challenge was that the door was installed in a wall, not a door, so it took a pretty big effort and a lot of power tools to frame it out. I’m pretty pleased with the results, I used a lot of caulking and then primed and painted to seal and fortunately I was able to use a standard 2×4 to frame it out. I used a handsaw, miter saw, power drill, sander and a Kreg jig to make it all happen.
A couple of tips:
1). I had to drill some holes in the drywall and use screws to hold the bottom of 2×4 frame in place temporarily while I connected the 4 pieces.
2). A Kreg jig and pocket holes made it much easier to secure the frame while in the wall. The Kreg pocket screws help to pull the 2 pieces of wood together so I was able to do it without clamps.
3). Adjusting the flaps after fully installed made a big difference in how airtight the seal is and how consistently the flaps fully close. My flaps needed to be moved a bit higher.
4). It took a lot of bacon to train my dog to get used to the new door cause you can’t see through it like the old one!
Install: The install was easy, once I had made a modification because my door was only 2.5cm thick (the product suggests: most doors 4.1 – 5.7cm thick). The issue for me was the that plastic header for the middle flap is rather thick and hits the header for the outer door flap. My hack-fix was to unscrew the middle flap and saw that header down by what I needed (for me it was about 6mm) with a hack saw. I just eyeballed the cut – was not 100% straight, but when I re-attached the middle flap I had just enough space to assemble the two frames onto my door…… just. After cutting the screw holes are still visible to screw back in the middle flap and are deep enough to do so 🙂 .. well, it did say in the manual, under things you will need: “competent DIY skills” 😮 -or in my case incompetent!
Weatherproof – v-strong winds can open the flap, but then that is what the “storm shield” panel is for – so no issue there really.
Warmth – pretty good, better then other flaps I have used. My only slight issue here is that all three flaps leave a slight gap around the sides. It looks like they spent a lot of time perfecting the bottom seal and forgot this. A bit of foam or brushes would maybe solve this.
Looks great!
Previously had 3 of the single flap models all in use, but one was susceptible to wind so was replaced by this new three flap model and is much better.

Best doggie door over ever used. Only slight issue is that it doesn’t always swing back to central position, but its still good against cold weather even when its not its its central position.

Great. No draughts and big enough for my xl dog . Just need him to use it. Scared of his own shadow. Other dog thinks it’s grea
I already had a petsafe medium dog door, but in Scotland, it was good, but could have been better. I got someone to fit mine. From a heat retention perspective, the door is all I could wish for. The dog has no problem with it, one of the cats is ok, but the other cat has not got her head around it at all. Trays back in the house! With the centre insulated door being opaque she just doesn’t seem to think its a way out. Sure that in time this problem will go away. Overall, a very good door and worth the learning curve.
Works great – especially on an inner door with a regular Petsafe cat flap on an outer wall. I’m not detecting any draft or cold around the edges of the flap. If this were installed directly on an outer wall I’m sure we would notice some leakage, but I’m extremely impressed by how well this insulates. I doubt there’s anything better on the market.
The feral yard guard got it with a hoover encounter to send him back to his post with much haste and his usual wages served indoors to bring him back in. The OAP housecat protested about the self-service, required one flap temporarily removed and a bit of laser pointer playtime with the new installation eventually becoming just another bit of humanity to benefit from. Other than the practically useless Fisher Price plastic bolts included with the kit making this a failed product as it is sold, once replaced with functional parts this product works within reasonable expectations.
This is far superior to other dog flaps I have seen. The aluminium frame secures very well. The extreme weather flaps seem to do the job without any discomfort to the dog. I installed in a UPVC 28mm door so had to add an MDF spacer. Highly recommended
A glazed door panel was replaced with a composite panel, into which the flap was fitted. The flap was fitted into this panel before the panel was fitted into the door. Fitting was straightforward, cutting a hole to the size of a template and then screwing the 2 halves together. The flap, like others will require adjustment in the winter and summer to compensate for expansion and extraction. It comes with a cover, so if the weather is especially bad, it will seal the dog flap. This can also stop the dog using it, should you need to.
Seems to work, not yet tried in the door.
Biggest downside is they use plastic screws.
For the cost I would have liked to see metal screws.

Good flap my little dog learned to use it very quickly, it is quite strong as well as the dog is a terrier and can be a bit boisterous.
Didn’t actually install it ourselves but it looked easy. Doesn’t blow in wind. Keeps warm in no draft and hard wearing. 6 small dogs and 4 cats use it on a daily basis. Great product. One slight negative is when the cover is on the pets can push through anyway but we don’t really use it so not an issue.

I loved this but unfortunately my cats and my dogs do not like it as they cannot see out, silly animals now stay by the door until I let them all ou
Pain in the arse to install not sure the description ie door thickness that it fits is right we had to add a surround to make the door thicker, definitely warmer in the house – some weather/wind will push it open but I just use the supply cover and close it on those day
Great dog flap, keeps the weather out. Feels safe and secure.

Fantastic dog door. Easy enough to install, with a little basic DIY skill and the right tools (I fitted mine with the door still hanging, took around an hour). The triple flap is really efficient at keeping the wind and cold out. Our old flap would swing around in windy conditions, which would be noisy as well as cold. This one doesn’t do that at all, even in the worst winter conditions. It’s also very good at keeping the cold out and doesn’t suffer from condensation, which is something we experienced with other flaps. One thing to be mindful of is that your pet will not be able to see through this flap as it’s not transparent, and will need to use a bit more force to get through the door. We found this to actually be a good thing as it has forced our dog to take her time when going through, rather than sprinting through full speed! It may, though, mean it takes a little longer to train your pet to use the door.
Lovey product but too small for my dogs, the seller was great and quickly sent me the returns information, and once received, refunded me.
All of my dogs have had a pet door going back 25 years+ and this is the best one we’ve ever had. We put it in a wall, and it is absolutely draft proof. I’ve had other PetSafe doors and it’s good quality material, but this is the best design they make if you live someplace where the weather gets cold. The dogs took a few days to get used to going through the 3 flaps, but now they happily scamper in and out. I ordered the wrong size but they swapped it for medium with no quibbles and sent the replacement right away. Definitely worth the price, and all toll a smooth purchase.
Delighted, we got a professional to fit it. Great produc

The carpenter installed it in a new door that we had fitted and it is very weather proof on a SW facing door that bears the brunt of the winter rain and wind. Unfortunately paint does not stick to it well, so the brown paint to match the door has chipped off in many places. We will try using an abrasive on it before repainting it to help the paint key onto it. Our dogs mastered removing the cover within 2 months so we are replacing the cover with a purpose made wooden cover.

We got this all weather 59 flap, 2 weeks after we started toilet training our 4month old pup to toilet outside. Our cocker spaniel pup took to the flap straightaway. He loves the freedom it gives him…he can go in and out all day (and night) without having to sit by the door waiting to be let in n out. We put his food bowl outside to encourage him to keep checking incase there was a surprise treat and while he was out there, he toiletted. We also gave him treats when he used the flap during the first few days. No more 5.30am wake up calls to let him out so he can toilet. We can have a lay-in n he goes out n toilets then goes back to bed.
We chose to instal our flap in the dining room wall as we have 2 sets of french doors and didnt fancy the cost of replacing them! A builder used an angle grinder to cut out a home in the double skin wall, lined it with wood, to create a tunnel, then screwed both the inside n outside flaps directly onto the wood. It took him 3hrs to do (including the clean up) and cost me 100 pounds labour. I gave the review a 5star for easy to instal because a good ‘diy’er could easily do it themselves if they can hire an angle grinder.
Theres absolutely no draft coming through the flap. The flap magnets are doing their job and we are all loving the big difference its made to all our lives…including the pup’s.
I have attached a short video n photo.
Didn’t keep this one as it was a little narrow order the next size up and it’s fabulous
Easy to install. It really is weatherproof. Very happy dog

Certainly weather proof and neat.
My Jack did take some convincing to use as she can’t see though it as with most other flaps.
Excellent product! Our kitchen is now warm again and we don’t have to keep the door open anymore!
Dogs took a while to get used to pushing through but I’m not sure if the cat is clever enough to realise he can get through it on his own yet!
Joining inserts are a little fiddly to get together though. Flaps adjust and will keep shut in a good strong wind!

We’ve tried several of the more standard sized/priced pet doors and always found them very draughty and easily broken. This one was worth every penny, far less draughty and sturdy. Very happy with purchase

Best cat flap we had. Its not too heavy for cats to push but heavy enough to stop the wind. Doesn’t stop the draft fully but still grea
Easy to install …..even for DIY nnightmares like my self….feels sturdy and think it will deftinely last a while.
Hard to fit but once in keeps out cold and droughts, now the best insulated part of our house!!
very good quality and better at withstanding draughts and windy conditions than the previous basic PetSafe door it replaced

Installed today into a door which was made from sheet metal and the usual foam insulation.
Used a Worx Wx667.1 Sonicrafter Multi Tool that cost me 39.99 and had it done in an hour. Quite simple but you need a steady hand trying to door it whilst the door is still hung (ideally you take the door off but the hinges are broken).
The flap is great, just what I wanted with that bit of extra weather protection and looks like it will keep in the heat as best I could hope for (it is a flap over an exposed hole after all!). It has the 3 flaps inc the inner weather shield and so far with it being -2c outside is doing an ok job. Only time will tell if the flaps stay firm and tight once used for a year or so. I was happy to see you can purchase replacement flaps to bring it back to life if that happens.
So overall defiantly worth the money and after some gentle, patient, treat orientated persuasion my border terrier went through it! (Took all afternoon to get her to push through it on her own but she never says no to a bit of cheese to chase after!)
Fantastic product. I am a Dog carer and all my guest dogs love to go through this flap

Does what it’s meant to. Installation is a bit fiddly. Closing mechanism isn’t really designed to keep a curious dog out, so I slide a small cabinet in front of it at night to make it “disappear”. The closing magnetic design is pretty good although it doesn’t always shut properly depending on the type of entry the dog makes. Having said that as there are flaps on both sides at least one of them is always closed. Middle insulation flap is a bit sticky sometimes. Now that it’s installed it certainly seems durable and I would expect it to last for quite a few years. Overall good produc
Not installed yet, but I have every confidence that it will be much more draught proof than others I have had

Performance for the weather is excellent, it keeps the warm (or cold with A/C is on) in, and the wet out! Our rear door is very much in a corner area, so there’s a lot of wind there, we’ve had no problem with the flap being opened, either by lifting or reversing by the wind.
The biggest problem we’ve had was the fitting, we were looking to add this to a uPVC door panel and then exchange it into place. Unfortunately we had to pay for specialist fitting. This is not a reflection on the unit, but it is something to beware of when purchasing.
The snap on panel, to prevent use, was a nice touch, however, it’s as large as the opening, so you have to find somewhere to store it. But fitted it works fine.
Our main issue however is with the inner (foil/thermal) layers and the seal, they sit well enough together at first, but over time the outer and inner door sits proud of the seal line. With three dogs constantly using this door, we noticed that after a fortnight it was sitting proud all the time. It was not a problem with the seal, and not a failure, it just looked out of place, like the door looked slightly stuck open. But there was no draft, and the rain has not gotten inside anywhere.
Quality-wise this feels and looks the part, our issues are only with things caused by having to install the unit, we knew we’d need to sort the door itself, and so we can’t fault this unit at all.
We have a number of petsafe flaps and they are quality well made and designed products. The addition of the insulated and a third flap should do a good job in increasing the insulation of the door, although I don’t think that it will make a big impact on drafts, although this has never been a big issue for us.
Check the measurements before you buy as the medium which is describe as for a medium dog or large cat is very big, it would suit an ENOURMOUS cat!! I think a small child could crawl through it. The large must be the size for the pony featured in the Prime ad!
Lovely quality and so easy to install. The instructions were good and it gives you all 3 size templates. This small one was what I needed so I cut that out. I only had to make the hole a little longer as this was a tad bigger than my old one, (the door was busted as it was hard plastic). I like that the soft flexible plastic will not crack or break in cold weather or if it is hit with a stray football.
Took the cats a few minutes to get used to the new one, I noticed how our big fluffy one that will not use car flats, but waits for us to open the door of him, he is quite happy to go through this one no problems, first time in over 5 years he has done this so that in its self is amazing to us, we now realised that it was the cat flat he didn’t like and not that he was being lazy.
I can not fault this cat flap at all, the build quality is good, the instruction is good and my cats love it.
We had been wanting to get one of these for a while. We always used to have one on the back door but since moving to our current home, we have never got around to it. Not sure why, but so glad we did now. We have five cats, three of which are indoor cats but two are indoor/outdoor cats and like to come and go as they please. One is in and out all day long – at the front door and at the back door too! The size we got is small which is 19 x 8.6 x 28 cm which is just right for our cats. It has a 3 flap system with a central insulated flap which is great for when it’s hot or cold and it provides 3 and half times more energy efficiency than a single flap to keep out the drafts. The plastic frame can be painted to match your decor aswell which is great and is very easy to install. The cats love it!
