Really useful second purchase (first one lasted 4+ years) of this scoop-free cat litter tray. For anyone with a bad back this is a brilliant solution. Three indoor cats share it happily though I change the litter once a week as opposed to instructions. And there is no nasty odour!

This is so clean for my fussy little kittens. I wouldn’t be able to do the manual spreading and raking to clean the litter tray half as well as the robot is doing. There’s minimal loss as it then pushes the waste into the little ditch in the tray and lasts at least 2 days before emptying with 2 very active kittens (ie they go no2 a lot). I initially thought the robot mechanism would scare the kittens but they were more curious then scared and perversely view it as a show 20 minutes after they done their business (they waited for raking to kick in first few days).
The only reason a 4* was given was because of price point (as well as Amazon messing up the multi-payment option) and the size: provide for at least 2-3 times the floor space as a large litter box/tray.

So I’ve had a litter robot for about 5 years and it’s not great. Jams all the time etc. Anyway I’ve been looking around at alternatives for a while. Read loads of reviews etc and decided this one was worth a punt due to how cheap it is. It’s arrived today and already all 4 cats have used it. It works amazingly well. I can see exactly what people are saying on the negative sides of the litter inserts, but I plan to adapt this with a plastic tray eventually. We will see how it goes.
It was very easy to set up. Literal plug in, pop it over the tray and it’s ready.
I can see me buying a few of these for around the house.
Definitely worth it. When you compare others, I spent 600 plus customs on the litter robot and it doesn’t bloody work properly and this was less than 100 quid. You cannot argue with that at all! So pleased to have found it and some real reviews from people that have obviously bought it.
Just lastly, be careful with other litter robot things out there. A lot hVe fake reviews especially on Facebook. Trust pilot is always a good call to check 🙂

A bit expensive but worth every penny, especially if you have more than one cat.

I am pleased with this. Works well as I only have to scoop out poo and urine soiled litter twice a week, then the tray lasts a month for one cat. It is a good size for my large female 4.5kg cat, and she seems happy to use it. I just filled it with some of her normal type of litter and some soiled litter from her previous tray and put it in place of her usual tray. She started using it right away. I am currently using regular clay clumping litter, but will gradually transition to crystal litter when my cat has been using the tray a while.

I bought a reusable tray and I’m saving the disposable ones for when someone is cat sitting for me. Otherwise, the single use trays are too expensive.

I’d recommend the reusable tray and using a cheaper brand of crystal litter, or normal clay clumping works fine. This does mean you will have to clean the tray once a month, but you will save a lot of money and help the environment. Its still far better than a normal litter tray system. I am happy overall.

Good buy but has stopped working, no electric getting to it, I clean it with a damp cloth I also cover the whike where you put the electric lead in to stop any water getting in, dont know of the plug is broken or the whole box is, how do I get a quick response as I have multiple cats using this

Being the keeper of a house cat, I was getting fed up cleaning a tray at least twice a day, lugging heavy bags of litter around, and finding litter all over the house that stuck to the cat’s feet. Having read mixed reviews, I decided to go for it anyway. We had to persevere for a couple of days, mixing with normal litter; however, once this was achieved , it has been invaluable. I have read comments about claims of longevity of the trays, but even to be able to leave it for a week without touching it is a game changer. I have opted to purchase a reusable tray due to the cost of the disposable ones. Overall it is so much cleaner for us and for the cat, will definitely not be going back to clumping litte

I have one cat who is mostly indoor as she is a massive wuss and apparently too posh to poop outside. Initially my cat was not on board with this and peed on a towel in protest. Not cute. So I used her normal litter and she started using it properly so I think her main issue was the silica stuff rather than the tray itself. I find the motor isn’t too loud although it is the spare room so I’m not near it that much! I bought this for when we go away next month, my house sitter probably doesn’t want to clean cat trays without being paid for it so I’ve bit the bullet with this purchase. I have bought a reusable tray because, quite frankly, this throw away gig is not cost effective and is not very green.
The tray still allows a grim odour but no where near as bad if it wasn’t eaked and locked up! I’ve not changed it in 2 weeks now and I think we can go another week before it will need changing.

This has been life changing for me. You can just forget about changing the cat litter from one month to the next. I find my cat can use it 50+ times before the tray needs changing which is quick, easy and hygienic to do.

This is an excellent product. I have one cat, the litter lasts for around 3 to 4 weeks. The tray is in my home office so its imperative that it doesn’t smell , which it doesn’t ! If you have one cat , this is the ideal litter tray . Previously in the morning the first thing I had to do was clean the litter tray out, now this is not an issue!
Only negative – the replacement trays are expensive , so we have purchased a permanent tray thats fits from Amazon USA.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI thought about this over and over and over again. Some of the reviews were sooo negative, but I eventually bit the bullet and went for it.
I am so, so, sooo happy I did. The smells in the house have reduced by at least 90%. Our cats honestly seem happier – which is of course, the most important.

Now, I will admit – yes. The refills are pricey. I think the business is taking the piss a bit, because there’s not really any reason for them to be AS expensive.
I’m lucky, in that we don’t have children or anything too expensive in our household and this is considered worth spending that money on. If we did have other bills, it would be a bit of an expensive luxury, so I understand people having this as a major barrier to purchase.

But, the refills do last fairly long and I honestly could not be happier with this purchase. I would happily do it again and just hope it lasts a long time.

If there’s ever a major upgrade and new version – consider me first in the queue. I’d rather have THIS than any smartphone or other expensive electronic item to be honest.

Great product, never smelled, I took out the poos every few days but they were rock hard and v easy. I have one large feral female neutered cat. She is fussy. The 1st tray was good for about 20 uses. By the 3rd she was used to it and happily used for 30 uses and remarkably no unpleasant smell (it’s in my bathroom in a flat) I definitely would notice if it had smelt. I wouldn’t go over 30 uses. It’s useful to notice how frequently your cat toilets as this can help with healthcare too.

This is bye far the best product, i as a breeder have ever spend my money on. Its easye to use, its simple and it just works. You have to adjust changing time to fit your cats, not one Cattery and cats are the same, but if you know your cats, then you can sence when it needs changing.

Only anoying problem i have, is that its not possible for me to but the litter pan, that you can wash. Because it cant be sent to Denmark. But okay, if thats the only problem, then its luxery.

All in all i would have no problem recomding them for sphynx owners like me. They look amazing, no ear and eye problems, and they dont geth oili, like they did on the conventional litter sand.

It’s actually a very good bit of equipment. I definitely notice the room smelling better after the self cleaning thing goes through the cleaning cycle.

Also being able to see how often the cat has used the litter tray is useful.

The only downside is that reusable litter tray is not available in the U.K. so you have to pay expensive shipping from the USA.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis self-cleaning litter box is an absolute God-send in my opinion! My other half bought one himself a few weeks ago which is being used in the hall upstairs as, having 9 cats, were using so much of the regular non-clumping cat litter – about 5-6 large bags a week – it was getting ridiculous (not to mention messy despite having a hooded catlit box) that I decided to buy a second one of these for downstairs too. Honestly, I have never looked back. We have a multi-cat household and they have no trouble using this tray: it did take them a few moments to get used to it, some longer than others, so I sprinkled a very small amount of their existing cat litter (non clumping variety) into this one and that seemed to do the trick. Once one cat had used it, they all had a go!! I have to be honest and say the only one who was a bit reluctant was my Maine Coon as he is a very large boy, and I could do with the litter box being just a bit bigger for him – so perhaps the manufacturer should maybe think about designing one especially for Maine Coons/ larger cats – but that said, he is quite a nervous cat at the best of times, so anything new to him is always something to be treated with suspicion!
I have absolutely no regrets buying this – it is just great to get up first thing in the morning and not have to clean out or smell the cat litter tray: of course when they first do their business in it, you get a slight whiff, but once the rake has raked it away into the covered box, that it is .. the smell is gone. The litter granules this tray uses are amazing – they just neutralise the smell of pee or cat poo and they seem to last longer than I imagined they would, and when you work it out price-wise against regular non-clumping litter, it is competitive when divided into monthly cost. And there is no tracking of cat litter outside the tray itself with this.
I cannot rate this litter tray highly enough as it has made my life so much easier regarding litter tray cleaning, and the house now smells pleasant all of the time. My cats actually seem happier since these trays have been installed as well; could be because the litter box is always pristine “clean”, ready for use and raked free of any cat poo when they want to use it! I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially if your cats are all indoor cats like mine. I wish I had bought one years ago!

    Absolutely Excellent - and I have a multi-cat household of 9 cats!

I’ve tried various cat litter boxes for my cats over the years, but find many difficult to clean out and empty so decided to buy this. It is much bigger than I expected. It is well made and it does what it says on the box. I do find it easier to clean. I do remove the poo every day rather than leave it build up in the box. I have a house cat so need to change it quite often, but find I can get the bottom tray to lest a few times with the use of other silicon litter.
It is expensive, but it is well made and the customer services are very helpful.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersPurchased this in the black Friday warehouse sales so got it for a great price. I would however pay full price next time if we need another one.
This has been a life saver! It’s perfect for our two cats, who are used to having a much more expensive ‘robot’ litter tray. It’s also great of we need to go away for a night or two.
We managed to use the litter for just under 4 weeks before changing it. We kept scooping the poops every weekend and we also have two other litter trays.
    I would 100% recommend.

This is AMAZING!!! I cannot believe I spent so much time using the old fashioned trays! Get one now!
I got this more than a year ago when I had an operation and couldn’t bend up and down and it’s literally a game changer if you have an indoor cat. I don’t understand the magic, but you do not need to touch it AT ALL, in 3 weeks! Nothing! There is zero smell! Not even a slight whiff- zilcho! It’s AMAZING! Honestly buy it! I can’t recommend it highly enough.
I honestly don’t care if the litter is pricier because it’s transformed cat and litter care for me and that’s priceless! Not having to faff about with cat loo, poo bags and whiffy bins every single day is such a relief!
There’s also less tracking of litter (sweep maybe every other day instead of 4 x day!). My Willow took to it immediately too! As soon as it was on she was straight in there! She likes watching the rake too! She’s a big cat ( a Maine Coon) and she puts her little paws on the front tray to pop. The lid is quite high so good for big cats to get inside and move about. She definitely likes that the poo is cleared away and her litter tray is clean and clear all the time so think this would be good fir cats who get out off by dirty trays ( most cats!). It’s also absolutely perfect for holidays/weekends away as now I don’t have to ask anyone to clear her litter fir me, just feed her and play with her!)
Warning- it is rather large but fitted fine in my bathroom and considerably smaller than the alternative, which is those huge robo litter trays.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOH… MY… GOD… This automated cat litter is amazing! I have 2 large cats at home and they are the stay at home kind. So, it can be very overwhelming dealing with their litter. The best we were able to do before was the 6 days without changing the litter. This was expensive and labour intensive.
We bought this product 2 weeks ago and we still haven’t had to deal with the cat litter at all. No touch for any reason! Already the best product in my mind. Smell is eliminated by the crystals provided. The racking system deals with the unburied number twos and then still smoothens and levels the litter. Just wow! I’m not sure how long it will last for since we have 2 large animals using it but I’m already happy with the result.
Important to refer that the cats are still able to enter the box with the lid on and have comfortable space to move around!

I have an anxious cat so having a clean litter tray 5 minutes after usage is good for him. He isn’t nervous of the litter tray, copes with the crystals and sits on top of the hood to watch it clean. I use a poop scoop everyday as I don’t like the idea of storing the cat poop until the crystals need replacing, consequently I can empty the crystals and reuse the boxes.

  53. Anonymous says:

     United Kingdom

I have 8 cats so was spending most of my time poop scooping. This is working brilliantly. The crystal litter it comes with isn’t worth bothering with, it becomes dusty, turns to a jelly like sludge and tracks all over the place. I had to remove a piece of blue crystal that embedded itself into my foot, it’s sharp and does not mix with hard floors and bare feet. My cats not keen either, they flick their feet and seem to hate the crunching sound and sensation.
Tried Worlds Best Multicat litter which works a lot better. But if your cat pees on the sifter it will clump around the sifter but it’s not a huge issue. Tried with Catsan natural clumping litter, works but not as well, it sticks to the bottom of the tray as it’s not so quick to clump.
Cat with the runs or loose stools can be an issue, runny or soft poo will stick to the sifter. Works best with firmer stools.
So far the disposable cardboard tray is standing up well but I’m going to have to make a more permanent one at some stage.
My cats are fascinated with the sifter when it’s sifting, they all gather around and watch. One refused to go in the tray for a few days after watching the sifter monster but has accepted it now. Another is still slapping it when it’s moving but isn’t frightened of it, I think she’s more disgusted by it’s poop eating habit.
Overall I’m pleased with it but with some modifications I think I can get it doing the job better. Because of this I think it is overpriced. I bought mine when it came up on a lightning deal and on balance was worth only just worth the price I paid.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI must admit this is better than I expected. Was bit dubious at first but bought it on prime day so paid less. It is expensive but it’s actually worth it. Easy to set up. My cat is nervous so I wasn’t sure how she would get on with it with the noise when it self cleans…she is actually fine, just sits and watches it. With regards to smell, I do actually dispose of poop from the part which it gets scopped into as it can only hold so much but that’s about every 4 days. The tray has now been going for 2 weeks and I haven’t had to change it so happy with that. I would recommend. I set mine to clean 5 mins after shes been.

Excellent product, no smell the crystals are amazing. Mine is set up to activate 20 minutes after my cat has been in it. The crystals are then raked and a nice clean litter tray awaits my cats next visit. I only have the one cat so I can simply change the crystal box for another. Generally replacement trays are 15-20 each. The only negative is the size quite big but it does a great job. You can also monitor (if you want to) how many times your can’t has visited the loo as there is a counter on the Ultra model.

I have two kittens and one mature cat. I got this product after reading the reviews. It certainly is better than the dirt trays that i was using before. But the disposable dirt tray does not last very long, not even a week. Even when i take the poo out and dispose down the toilet, the urine soaks the litter very quickly and my young male kitten will urinate elsewhere in the house rather than use the cat loo. The replacement litter trays and crystals are quote expensive but on tbe whole it is preferable to the smelly litter trays and litter all over the floor.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our Userswhen my partner wanted to get a kitten, i found this product online and made it a mandatory investment. the idea of an animal going to bathroom indoors and then having to clean that up indoors was more than my dog-person sensibilites could handle.

this thing has been great – our 10w kitten took to it right away, and we kept it off as it advises for kittens, and just manually tell it rake in the morning and evening, but after a week the kitten seemed to understand it’s delayed raking mode, and now we leave it plugged in and let it do it’s thing – no problems with the kitten as of yet!

there is some litter crystal spill over, which i’m told is normal for all litter boxes (so gross, still getting used to this part of having a cat), but i do appreciate that the crystals from our box are blue, so it’s aesthetically less offensive then a bunch of brown bits on the ground. it’s easy to sweep up, so really not a big deal at the end of the day.

TLDR: this litter box takes all the gross bits out of haveing a cat indoors – excellent for those newbie cat owners out there.

1.It came with a starter litter pack.
2.It does exactly what it says in the description. However, the poo storing compartment can only hold 2,3 days worth of poo.
    3. You can barely notice the smell of the wee when the crystals are fresh.
    4. I only have a 3 month old Maine coon kitten, and he weighs under 2 kg. But one litter tray only lasted us for approximately 11 days. So I can only imagine as he grows bigger, the life span for each tray will be even shorter.
    5. Because he’s s kitten, we only turn the rake on manually. He was inquisitive, but not frightened to use it again after the raking was done.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAlthough this tray and the refills are pricey, I will 100% say it’s worth every single penny for the convenience and two happy kitty’s who have no problem sharing the box since it is constantly poop free.
For those who say it’s stinks and doesn’t work, I’m not sure what the hell you are feeding your cats but that would be down to their diet. Proving they are fed what nature intended I can assure you that our house has no once smelled of cat poo or pee. The only time I can smell anything is when I take the tray out to replace it and check their poo to make sure everything is looking normal in that department, but only if its right by your nose. I change mine every 10 days but can deffo get more days out of it if I wanted to, I just do it due to the fact I get 3 replacement trays on subscription and like to use them up before my next delivery. If it breaks I will 100% be getting another one

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExpensive but I thought was worth it due to the smell in the tray!, the litter is pricey to replace, but I shopped around and B&M do crystal cat litter at 2.60 does same job , yes it came with a Free litter liner tray , doesn’t say that here!, I just covered it in sticky plastic so I can reuse until I can find a similar tray or buy the permanent one they supply at 50. So it is pricey but with the cheap cat litter crystals it’s a no brainer!. No smell.
And it does take up some room, quite big.

We have had 2 cats for the last 4 years and have always had problems with the cat litter tray. It would always smell and always have to be changed after one of them had used it. We saw this online and finally decided to spend the money on it. I will say it is probably one of the best things I have ever bought for making life better and easier. We no longer have any smell so far we are only having to change it every 3 weeks this is a fantastic product and I highly recommend well worth the money even though it seems expensive

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt is expensive but it has been such a life saver! Especially recommended if you have a cat that uses the litter tray regularly or if you can’t change the litter often due to pregnancy or other health reasons. My advice is to buy the plastic reusable tray and then shop around for refill crystals rather than spend a fortune on the disposable trays of litter.

It took our cat a couple of weeks to get used to the tray- at first she was scared of it! So we made sure to provide another normal litter tray while she transitioned. Now she loves the thing and turns her nose up at the normal litter and even runs to watch the rake in action every time it goes off- her favourite entertainment!

A word of warning though, regular litter box using kitties may need fresh litter once or twice a week.

This is excellent. I’ve never noticed it raking so is quiet. No smell what so ever. Easy to set up and install. Mine came with a starter litter tray and crystals. Cat used it straight away so no problems moving to a new box. Was worried after reading reviews however it does everything the description says. Note that I have one cat which is allowed outside so will use the litter tray less than an indoor cat (why would you not allow your cat outdoors!). I set the timer to 20 minute to allow maximum dehydration time. I think some people might have rake cling because they are not setting to 20 minute so not dyhydrating. Very happy customer – wish the litter crystal/boxes were cheaper but I’m guessing I’m paying for convenience !

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis product has changed my life! It works really well and does everything it says. I no longer have to worry about the litter tray being messy or having any smells.

The main thing for me was I travel a lot so this has given me piece of mind and made my life so much easier.

My cat took to it instantly there was no issues and she even likes to watch it clean itself!

I also bought the forever litter tray and changed my litter to a clumping one. This has saved me loads of money as the disposal trays cost a fortune over time.

WHY in God’s name didn’t I discover this 15years ago when I got the first of my cats? This is amazing. No smell, no bags of litter to haul out of the car and up the stairs, and no more bin bags splitting on the way to the trash. Expensive, yes but the easy way to cope with cat waste far outweighs the extra expense.

I’m very pleased with it, no more scooping cat poo out of there box. It takes 1 min & 6 sec from start too finish in the ad for it, it sayes it’s quiet! So I made a little video so you can make your own mind up if it’s quiet or not and too show you it in action!
Great Buy Just one downfall n the ad it sayes it comes with 1 bag of litter I took the box completely apart looking 4 this bag of litter which was not n there!! I read the reviews and I’m not the only one that didn’t get there litter!! I called Amazon but could not get through, so I used the text help n I was told it probably turn up today buy no it didn’t so I had to go out n buy some! Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI bought this litter box as we were adopting a cat and my girlfriend and I didn’t want the nasty job of scooping the litter box out each day.

Normally, I get my packages delivered to an Amazon locker however, this box was way too big to fit inside so I got it delivered to a pick-up location instead. The box was very big and heavy and the handles on the box ripped due to the weight of the contents and the bottom fell out the box. Despite some previous reviews saying that there had been no litter included in the box, there was one tray and bag of silica litter inside which is why it was so heavy. Perhaps the manufacturer can use stronger tape on the box and strengthen the handles to ensure this doesn’ happen in future?

When I opened the box, the instructions were easy to follow and it took less than a minute to assemble the litter box. The instructions had said to leave the privacy hood off and don’t power the device on until the cat is used to the litter tray. I can understand why this is written as my cat was very intrigued when she first saw her waste being swept away and I can imagine that it might put some cats off using the tray if they’re easilly scared.

The litter tray is really easy to operate. One button to reset the counter, another to change the delay on the rake and a third to begin the raking process manually. I initially had the delay set to 5 minutes as I didn’t want any smells hanging around however, I found that small pieces of poo were getting stuck on the rake so I’ve increased it to 10 minutes to try and dry it out a bit more before raking.

The silica crystals are really good at keeping the tray dry, and our house doesn’t smell of cat urine, something which I found to be a problem with my last cat and ordinary mineral based litter. There is a smell of poo just after the cat uses the tray, but this quickly disappears after the rake has swept it into the hidden compartment.

The manufacturer says that each litter tray will be good for 20-30 days (depending on frequency of use and number of cats), and I’ve found that I’ve had to change it after around 3 weeks because the poo compartment was full. Its also useful to stir the litter from side to side every few days to disperse the urine in the crystals. My cat tends to pee in the same place in the litter box and the rake is linear, so the crystals at that side of the tray were becoming saturated.

In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this litter tray. It’s an expensive piece of kit to buy, but the ongoing maintenance costs (around 45 for three litter trays that last up to a month each) are on-par with normal cat litter, and the fact that I don’t have to scoop poop or smell cat urine every day is definitely worth the 100 or so that I paid for this tray. It’s also reassuring to know that my cat will always have a clean, odour-free toilet when she goes to use it, even when I’m at work all day.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersMy husband was very clear when he said ‘were not getting another cat, I’m not having a litter tray in the house’ obviously he came home from work and I surprised him with a kitten and this brilliant invention. We were both sceptical at first about the smell and how would the mess not stick to the metal rods?! We have used this for a week and it really does do what it’s designed to do! It’s in our lounge and we’ve had no issues. As it’s covered the baby isn’t interested in it which is another win and even though the kitten is so tiny and this tray is quite big he still manages to jump in and do his business.

I know some of the other reviews mentioned a smell and with an adult cat maybe however if it was in another room that isn’t used much it really does solve the dreaded issues that come with having a house cat.

The cost is another point it’s expensive but again we honestly haven’t touched any mess at all in the entire week we’ve used it! So for us it’s an absolute win!

I really would recommend this even if you’re on the fence it’s worth it to just not have to scoop any mess.

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI wanted an automatic cat litter after getting our dog as the cats are upstairs in our bedroom and didn’t want the smell from the litter tray. Easy to set up and change litter tray. Cats were very adaptable with it and prefer this to the second standard cat tray, one is very curious when the rake gets going. Negative points – 1) you are restricted in using their own litter so make sure you have a spare to hand. With 2 cats I changed it when it had turned 100 cycles (tells you how many times the rake has been activated and you can reset) as otherwise it looses effect. 2) the cats managed to get poop on the rake itself so that was difficult to clean.

I saw good and bad reviews, but I think it says exactly what’s on the tin. We have indoor cat’s so pay 40 a month for normal litter, so for an extra 5 we don’t have to clean the trays ourselves. The refils come in packs of 3, and one lasts us (2 cats) 10 days. So one pack a month does great!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersYes it is an expensive item but well worth every penny. Only on one occasion has some cat poo got caught on the rake and by manually operating the rake again it dropped off. I have one small cat who is currently inside only and I changed the litter box replacement after 25 uses as it was a bit smelly from cat wee – because my cat has dry food she drinks a lot. However the huge benefit of this item is that the poo is hidden out of the way in the separate compartment and you do not ever have to scoop. I was actually shocked at the amount of poo when I changed the tray so it really does work. It operates quite quietly and the cat likes to watch it do it’s raking. Cat took no time to get used to this type of box and I then added the hood a week later which worked well too.

Golden Review Award: 37 From Our UsersThis has changed our relationship with our housecat for the good as we only have to empty this when full and never have to see or scoop it up each day. You hardly smell it either, only a little when removing the tray.

I have modified the use by instead of crystals it came with, using world’s best clumping litter and making a raised base for the tray and cut a hole where the waste goes. A receptacle goes below. I used an aluminium rectangular tray. It has been working great for a couple of weeks now. I use 20 minutes delay rather than the shorter times to allow time for it to clump. You couldn’t use clumping litter unless you made the waste recess bigger like I did as it would run out of room after a day or two even with one cat as the wee forms a sizeable ball so it’s like about 2 poos on top of usual one poo. I don’t like crystals as the idea of wee staying underfoot bothers me as do the use of silica. If you already use this fine, but my cats used to clumping and I’ve heard crystals can be smelly and do not work very well at holding wee. I was happy to modify this and bought it knowing I would. Had I failed I would have given crystals a try I suspect!

When it very, there was no UK power tip for the adaptor, so I had to ask the company for this, which came within a few days. Good customer service.

This was readily used by my feral cat who normally takes time to get to know things so the design is great and appealing to cats I think it’s nice and big and easy to use for them The others I have seen had smaller entrance holes.

I put the old cat litter tray next to it so he had a choice and he immediately used the new one and I think he preferred it’s design due to the larger access hole.

    Very glad I bought this.

Update: a year on I’ve decided crystals are better as less fuss and found do far the best ones (other than the ones made by maker of this tray ) are Bob Martin’s crystals. The pink bag ones. They last about 3 weeks a bag so not cheap but no fuss other than a stir each few days.

At first I was confused because both litter tray and it’s bottom part are cardboard like and I almost threw it away as I was expecting it to be plastic to prevent leakage. No leaking so far!
I have 2 cats – one is 3,5 y.o. half Maine coon and twice bigger than other 2 y.o. cat so we are using this toilet without a cover, otherwise he wouldn’t use it as there is not enough space for him to sit inside. While the re-fills are a little expensive, the time saving element is excellent and the counter was really re-assuring over the first few days of the cats being in the house. They also love the rake, as soon as they hear it go off they race over and watch it go backwards and forwards!

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersWe bought it a few months ago with a couple of refill trays and what can I say – it’s fabulous! The problem starts when you need to buy new refills – they are very expensive considering the time they last…We have two longhair cats, I must say it did not take them long to get used to the the new tray, they started using it after a few hours of setting it up. The refll trays were only good for a few days only – maybe up to 10 days max after which the litter tray really did smell bad. We soon switched to a silica litter and plastic, reuasable tray which you can buy separately (we brought it from USA). We tried different type of cat litter and the best and cheapest – also working the best for us (up to about 5 days) – is Tigerino fine silica litter from Zooplus. All of it together works wonderful and we have 2 happy cats + 2 happy owners – especially when we go away for a few days.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersI’ve had this for just over a week now – and I’m honestly wondering why I didn’t invest earlier! When you’re a lazy(ish) cat owner like me the litter tray is the worst part of living with a cat, and with two we seemed to be always dealing with it. This works like a charm – not long after the cat has been in it scrapes away the smell producing poo and leaves it fresh! It does leave a wee bit of a mess, and it will be pricier than usual litter to change regularly, but the peace of mind knowing you can leave it for several days without having to do anything is brilliant. Especially when it comes to asking people to cat sit if you’re away for a couple of days. It is expensive, but I think it will be well worth it!

Really like this product, I have just ordered a second for my other cat who has to be separated. The litter never looks filthy like a lot of crystal litters that turn bright yellow. It really reduces the smell-a lot. I was doubtful to say the least when it arrived and I realised the litter didn’t clump and the rake just left all the urine behind. I couldn’t stand the idea of urine smell but have to say this is so much better. It doesn’t smell and I’m not shovelling constantly. My cats aren’t keen on the lid but comes off easily enough. I have ordered the standard this time. I am happy with the length of time this lasts for my 3 cats. I do tend to scoop the poop out of the receptacle occasionally to lengthen its use but it is so so much easier. Lasts ages and is so much better then other non scoop options that I did try.

Golden Review Award: 627 From Our UsersOur two cats have been using this litter box for the past month and it has actually made life so much easier and really does work so why not five stars? Purely and simply down to the cost of the refills which at the time of writing this review were just under 50pound for three on subscribe and save. This unfortunately makes this an unfeasible expense for us in a household with two young children and other bills to pay and so as much as I would love our cats to continue using this litter box once our tester re-fills run out it just won’t be practical for us. If the refills were reduced down to a more manageable level at say maybe around the twenty pound mark then we would continue using it and pay out for this luxury but at the current price it is an unnecessary expenditure which we can’t afford.

We have two cats and the trays are currently lasting us 10 days each. Below is the summary of the trays longevity and times used but please bear in mind that with the first tray used we didn’t stir the litter halfway through and this does help the litter to last that tiny bit longer.

    Tray 1 – 9 Days and used 48 times
    Tray 2 – 10 Days and used 54 times
    Tray 3 – 10 Days and used 53 times

I must also say that both of our cats whilst they do go outdoors actually come back home to use the loo rather than doing their business outside somewhere and so effectively they could be considered for example purposes as being house cats.

So for us to continue using the litter box it would mean buying the three refills each month which when compared to our old litter box costs of 12.40 for a 4 week period (10 litre bag cost us 1.55 and we use two a week) makes this substantially more expensive.

Anyway I’ll stop harping on about the cost as others may have the disposable income to afford this and I can honestly say hand on heart if money wasn’t an issue we would continue using it. The drastic reduction in smell alone has been wonderful. There is still the initial stink when one of the cats does their business but once it is scooped away weirdly enough the smell stops and that’s just the solid materials alone as the ammonia smell that was there lurking in the background just isn’t there while using this tray and I haven’t had to get the air freshener out all month! There is minimal interaction required with the tray and you can literally change the box underneath and forget about it until you get to the trays limit (which for us is around the 10 day mark) but with a little stir halfway through of the crystals we manage to get another days use out of the trays. You can set the rake for 5, 10 or 20 minutes after your cat has done their business and it recognises this by when the cat breaks the activity beam. We originally had it set for 5 minutes and then 10 but had to change it to the 20 minute timer as our youngest cat thought it was a brilliant game to jump in the litter tray at first and then jump back out and wait for the rake to start!

I believe there is a permanent tray you can buy for this box which you’d fill with litter crystals and then treat as a normal litter tray in that you’d have to empty and clean it at the end of each cycle (for us 10 days). I would be very interested in finding out about this however the reviews don’t seem to cover if it all fits correctly etc. Yes I know it may seem a bit bonkers to take away some of the point of this litter box by having to clean a tray every 10 days or so but the fact you don’t have to clean it out every day or after every poop and the smell reduction alone from the litter crystals and rake system is seriously making me think about researching it some more. So in summary a brilliant invention that truly does work but un-affordable to continue on for us in the future unless the refill tray prices are drastically reduced.

    EDIT 30/04/15:
We have been using the Forever Tray with the Scoopfree for a couple of months now and so have been able to use the Scoopfree again as normal. Unfortunately the manufacturers refill trays are just too expensive for us and our monthly budget but thanks to being able to use the permanent tray and empty and refill it with crystals ourselves (not as convenient as a throw away obviously, but a lot cheaper) we can one again have the convenience of the Scoopfree. I don’t think we could go back to using a ‘normal’ litter tray now we have had the convenience of the Scoopfree. We went away for 4 days the other day and had a family member popping in to feed the cats for us while we were away but they didn’t have to clean the litter tray as we are using the Scoopfree and so they answered yes to looking after the cats for us a lot quicker than in the past as they didn’t have to clean up the poop!

    EDIT 22/06/15:
I can confirm that we are still using the Scoopfree alongside a permanent re-usable Forever Litter Tray and that the Scoopfree is still working perfectly and making life that little bit easier.

    EDIT 07/04/2017:-
I can confirm that we are still using the Scoopfree alongside the permanent re-usable Forever Litter Tray that we have. The Scoopfree is still working perfectly and is in use every single day with our two cats. We have had absolutely no issues with the Scoopfree and I still couldn’t imagine going back to using a ‘normal’ cat litter tray. We just use normal cat litter crystals with the permanent tray and it all still works perfectly scooping the poop out of sight and drying up the poop and urine.

We really like it and it works but refills are too expensive
