Have had Phillips steam irons for years – this one I have to set at highest temperature with steam to take out creases on cotton. Returned first one as I thought it was faulty but no the replacement is the same.

My wife tells me this is a good iron. It was a replacement for similar Philips iron which went faulty after many year of use. Only complaint is that there is no Velcro tie to hold the rolled up cable and plug to the iron. The previous model had this and kept cable neat and stoped plug being loose when storing away.

Love everything about this except the ridiculously short lead expect to do your ironing right next to the wall unless you have an extension lead handy!

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, for many years to get a steam iron that doesn’t dribble or spit. I saw this on a list of best irons and I am really pleased with it. It has a lovely long cord, isn’t heavy and has a large opening to add the ironing water. It was also half the price of some recommended models. A good purchase.

It’s very easy to use, and the iron plate doesn’t stick to your clothes.

The cable is only 1.9m long, makes it difficult to use without an extension lead. Other models from same manufacturer have 2.5m cables, as does the old faulty one I’m replacing.

Had many irons over the years. This so far has been fine for us. Sometimes the steam produces excessive water spurts – but many irons do this – yet to find anything that does not do this for under 70+

Im sure theres a few over 100 that do the same thing

Philips Calc Clean system works extremely well and is my main reason for always choosing Philips. This iron has the system and it doesn’t disappoint. It is a little heavier than I normally like but it really does glide so smoothly over the fabric weight isn’t an issue. I can’t fault the iron itself but the instructions are very tricky to understand, especially Calc Clean. Having used Philips irons for many years, this was not a problem for me but a newcomer to the facility might struggle.
I am happy. Excellent iron, well priced.

This is a nice light iron which glides over clothes. My only issue is that it has stuck to some clothes and the plate has burnt material on it. I would prefer a stainless steel bottom plate. Still a nice iron to use but be careful of using the correct settings on clothes.

After a full military career, I’ve used a lot of irons and Philips make the best ones! Forget about bulky, overpriced and under performing steam generator irons and opt for this instead. You’ll have to fill the water tank more often with this but not only does it have auto-steam but, unlike many steam generators, you can adjust the temperature with this. Whack up it up to the maximum for cotton and linen and you’ll breeze for your ironing much faster.

It’s ergonomically sound, has a bit of weight to it (which helps when ironing), glides effortlessly across all facrics, has, as already mentioned, auto-steam that can be turned on or off, a powerful steam boost and a spray function. It doesn’t drip water all over the place and it automatically switches off if left unattend for a few minutes. With a calc-clean function, indicator light and a reasonabe length lead, this is a perfect iron. I can’t comment on the Eco mode – I don’t like to hang about when ironing! Forget about a steam generator and get this instead, I promise you won’t regret it.

The iron heats up the fastest I’ve ever seen an iron heat up, the ironing plate is superb and glides so effortlessly across all fabrics. Very good iron, as one might expect from Philips. It’s well-made, doesn’t take long to heat up, irons well and has a long cable so you can be a bit flexible about where you iron. The only moan would be that the water tank could be a bit bigger, but I suppose there has to be a trade-off between size and ease of use. Four stars.

We have been using the same iron for the last ten years and we had no reason to switch but we tried this iron and switched in an instant.

The Iron works really well. The iron does not stick and it gets creased clothing out really well with very little effort.

The device heats up in a short time and is completely leak-proof when being filled and has no excess water when being used to heavily steam clothing.

Great design, great value for money and great results.

Used this as soon as it arrived, as had 200 mapkins to steam and fold in shape – thought I would have to rely on my trusted steam generator which is 4 times the price of tis iron, but I did not have to switch one single bit, as this little beast ploughed through all 200 linen napkins in no time and with no effort! So, I have been using it ever since and as a month later it is still as perfect as on the first day, I can most certainlu recommend this little beast!

PErfect! More powerful than some steam generators!

This is Philips Steam Iron Series 5000 with 2600W of power. We have been using this for the last month and we are pretty amazed with the performance. This is relatively heavier compared to our previous iron but it packs some lovely features and frankly a reliable performance.

I am glad Philips stresses their technology to remove limescale which ensures a convenient water quality suitable for ironing expensive stuff.

Ergonomically this iron is well-built to accommodate the shape and movement of my hands. It doesn’t cause me any discomfort or tiredness but my partner said that its weight is a bit frustrating for her.

We are very satisfied with this iron and it became our default driver.

The anti drip feature is brilliant , I’ve lost count the amount of times my old iron dripped onto my clothes and made a brown stain but this has never done that. The iron is really comfortable and light to handle making it smooth and easy. It looks really stylish too being all black, very sleek. Would highly recommend !

This is a smart-looking steam iron from Philips – grey looks so much classier than the standard white that irons always seem to come in – and it does a good job of removing creases from all sorts of materials.
The iron is light and glides easily, but I am a bit annoyed (and baffled) by the cord, which is so short I always have to use an extension lead. Given that any iron is usually used a metre off the ground, you would think any cord would be at least 2 metres long, but apparently not.
Like with any new iron, the settings take a few minutes to get used to, but they all broadly follow the same design, and after one use with this iron you will know what you are doing.

This is a nice looking iron as far as irons go and is quite lightweight. The first thing that struck me though was how cheap the buttons and dials feel. Some parts feel a bit flimsy and like they are not made of the best plastic material out there. But actually as an iron it works quite well.
The continuous steam function is great and perfect for steaming my curtains while hanging up. Also thanks to the weight of the iron it’s an easy task to do. You can dial down the temperature quite low which is great for delicate fabrics. The soleplate is very good and haven’t had anything stick to it at all. The cord is about average length and It heats up pretty fast as well.
Overall it’s a good little iron but some of the parts are a bit cheap feeling.

This is probably one of the strongest steam jets I have seen in a standalone iron. Watching to also have a separate tank steam generator iron and this really isn’t far off. As you would expect it is it extremely quick to temperature and the soleplate does a fantastic job at not burning or sticking to any of the clothes we have tried it on. The water reservoir holds a decent amount although if you have it on a constant stream setting you will find it lasts for about 45 to 55 minutes. weight wise, it feels well-made but not too heavy that it can be a pain to move around the ironing board. I would say this is designed to be used a lot for prolonged periods and should do well in a large family household.

  59. MilfordCamara says:

I like this iron as it generates a decent amount of steam, it’s light and quick to setup, and works well.
The cable is a bit short but not too short, so it’s still easy to move it around.
I still prefer to use my other steam generator iron if I need lots of steam, otherwise this is my goto iron as it’s a bit quicker to setup as I don’t have to move a huge water tank.

  60. Candyce Nicole says:

We are really impressed with this iron from Philips. It looks great in all black and has been manufactured excellently.

It is lightweight in the hand and gets up to heat extremely quickly when switched on. It glides superbly over clothing and we found that it feels like it definitely irons things quicker and saves time. Thinner clothing that would normally need ironing on both sides, only required the one side done to be as effective.

The included instructions are not the best as they are fully pictorial (so as not to need translating presumably) and I would have preferred some text to help when first using but that was the only issue.

We’ve had in the past either very cheap irons or very expensive. This Philips one sits in the middle (price-wise) and we would choose it again over all of them.

Simply Superb - Heats Up Quickly And Ironing Feels Faste

This is a great quality steam iron, which offers a powerful steam function with steam booster for tougher creases. You can also use the irons steam function for vertical hanging clothing or curtains. The dial is straight forward to understand and has loads of different settings for different fabrics.

On the highest steam boost setting, it can leave damp patches on your clothes, but is good at removing the creases… But it isn’t ideal if you need to wear the item straight away and it has a damp patch on it.

It has a calc clean function, so for those in hard water areas, prone to limescale build up, this is useful and will prolong the life of the iron.

Phillips steam iron is handy to use and smooth as well. This is a great Iron, it doesn’t make the ironing go away, but it does make it less of a chore when it goes so smoothly. I really like the iron, it’s not overly heavy, but has enough weight that it makes a dent. Also has lovely steam action.

I used this iron a few times already to iron my shirt and pants. And it was working perfectly, and I had no problems with it. The first thing which I noticed are the weight. As it is very light and feels really nice in the hands. The grip is really good as well, on a handle. The lightweight helps a lot if need to iron more than a few pairs of shirts or other stuff. So it’s perfect for someone with a bigger household. It glides over different materials with ease as well, which was a big improvement over my old iron. The quality wises its good iron, as it has a big name such as Philips behind it.
The controls of it are easy and no different from other average iron. There is a button for a steam and water spray. The different thing from other irons is the little button with which you can adjust the strength of the stream which is quite a nice addition I would think. The temperature for different materials is regulated by a dial which is the same as other irons out there. It heats up quite fast as well, as it is really powerful. Overall, it’s good to iron for a couple or for a big family, it will work without any problems , and will make ironing faster and easier.

This rather stylish iron arrives boxed and includes manual and warranty. The cable is medium length, so has to be positioned quite near to the power source. Ive been using an extension lead for mine.

Filling the iron can be done by opening the window in the top to reveal a decent sized pouring hole. Steam setting can be adjusted using the switch on and dial underneath the handle. Water can be sprayed or steam expelled using the two buttons on the handle.

I love how lightly this iron glides across clothes of almost any kind. I find it to be so powerful (especially compared to my knackered old iron that’s got to be a few years old). Plus it doesn’t feel cumbersome at all.

I’ve found that not only has my ironing time cut down significantly, this iron has made it a much more enjoyable experience. I recommend.

This looks like a basic iron, it’s a good weight, comfortable and easy to use, it glides over fabric effortlessly.

Now to the difference, this has a powerful 2600w motor and heats up quickly. It has a large filling door, so water doesn’t spill everywhere as you fill it and it has a large 320ml water tank, so less need to keep refilling it.

This iron has continuous steam, which is great for those stubborn creases, it also has an extra steam boost. There is a vertical steam function so you can steam hanging clothes or even curtains. I used this on recently washed nets and it took out the creases perfectly.

This is a well made, stylish iron from Philips, so you know it’s good quality and will last years so it’s good value. More than happy to recommend.

This iron was a bit bigger/heavier than I expected, but it so powerful and I found that it makes ironing quick and simple.

It has fantastic build quality with great ergonomics. It’s easy to hold with all the relevant button within reach. The sprayer has a very nice mist which distributes the water evenly in a wide area. I find it so easy to iron with this product, the steam function does a fantastic job at softening the material and the iron simply glides across my clothes with ease.

It’s very easy to fill up the tank with it’s wide opening and the iron heats up very quickly so I could get started in no time. I noticed that that wire is also much shorter than expected, I had to be quite close to the plug when using this iron.

Overall, This is a great iron which offers fantastic performance. It is chunkier than the standard irons I’ve used and the cable is much shorter than expected, not too big of a problem for me but would like to have seen it to be more user friendly. Nonetheless the shear power and performance of this iron was very impressive, definitely one of the better irons I’ve used thus far. I would highly recommend this.

Hope you found my review helpful.

Phillips is a very well known brand, and I own different items from them. However, I have never owned a steam iron from them so I was excited to try it. It arrived quickly and in good packaging and it was easy to unpackaging it and start using it.

It is corded, and the cord is quite long so you can reach it to places. Also before you use it, you have to put some water in it so it can produce steam. The water tank is a good size which I like so you don’t have to keep refilling it. There are different settings that you can change to your preference. There are also two buttons.

The iron plate is quite weighty but very smooth, powerful and it glides over your clothes. When I used it, it heated up very quickly, and I was able to produce steam very quickly by pressing one of the buttons. It glides over your clothes, and it took me about a minute to iron my shirt.

Overall, the performance of the iron is fantastic and I really can’t fault it. It is good value for money, and I highly recommend it, you will definitely not regret it.

When I received this Philips 5000 series Steam iron box, I was really impressed with its beauty.
I was also confused at the same time when I remembered that, the current iron box I bought from the local supermarket was less than 20. Inorder to find what exactly this product return for the money we spend, I used it thoroughly for hours and made note of some features. They are,
    – it is so stylish. Made in a coloured shade of graphite grey/black with matching power cord.
    – it heats up quickly- really quickly. It was less than a minutes time for cotton mode.
    – it is slightly heavier, broader, and longer in size which obviously reflect in the results.
    – various steam spraying settings- unlike the mediocre ones, it produces and expulse steam in sufficient pressure.
    – Water spraying is comparatively better than any other steam iron box I’ve ever used.
    – there is a auto cutoff light on the handle, which I could not photograph as it heats and cut off suddenly.
    – The most important thing is its sole plate- it looks so stylish, premium built and has well distributed outlets for the steam.

It is slightly heavier than many other similar products. Even though I personally like heavier iron boxes, everyone may not be.

Overall, a great product to have inorder to save your valuable time and energy.

This is a nice heavyweight iron with an excellent steam function. I find that I can iron clothes much quicker with it and ironing thicker clothes like jeans for example is made much quicker and easier by using the steam button. The iron moves smoothly over the clothes without catching or snagging and you can iron between buttons on a shirt too. The water lasts quite a while when you are ironing, depending on how much you use the steam function.

It is very easy to use this iron straight out of the box following the manufacturer’s instructions. Selecting the correct setting for ironing your garments is super easy, I tend to start with clothes that need ironing on the lower setting and work my way up to the higher settings for cottons and heavier weight clothes. I love the non-drip function as this was a problem I was having with my previous iron, water would drip out and leave large wet patches in the clothes I was ironing. This iron represents really good value for money and I actually look forward to doing the ironing now!

Very light but excellent to use – first iron I’ve had to iron all the creases out of linen trousers
The cord is too short and has not cable grip I took the one of

Before getting this I had one of the steam generator irons with the big base unit but it’s pretty old now so thought I’d give this a go.

Its an excellent iron which is what I would expect from Philips – the base plate is wide and glides smoothly over materials without sticking or grabbing. The iron is nice in the hand, it feels weighty yet balanced and is enjoyable to use.

The steam generator function is great and I didn’t know a stand along iron could produce so much steam! This means it’s quicker and easer to iron clothes! The water resevioir is also generous and easy to fill so a washing basket full of washing is easy to get through without having to refill. You can even steam clothes or items whilst they’re hung up so it’s a bit of a 2 in 1 product.

Aesthetically it looks great in the black finish and there is a decent length power cord. One thing I do like is the built in calcium cleaner function which allows you to keep the iron clean and running as it should.

At the time of writing its on offer for 49.99 which I think is a steal!

Fantastic iron – my new everyday iron.

    5 stars.

We will usually use our steam generator for doing the ironing as it cuts through the creases so much better than a standard iron but sometimes when you only have a few things that need ironing it can be a nuisance having to lug the heavy machine out of the cupboard, so I ordered this for those times that we didn’t want to have to get out the steam generator.
This iron really is quite amazing, when we first looked at it, the soleplate is superbly level and simply glides across every type of fabric with ease. This heats up quickly and has buttons and controls galore to handle just about every job, from the temperature control to extra steam boost and more, this will even steam your garments while they are hanging, this is something we have never tried before but for a light fabric it works really well and can even help to freshen the curtains.
We have now started to use this iron more often than the steam generator as it is so good and very much easier to get out for use.
I have no problem at all in recommending this lovely steam iron and when it’s on offer it’s terrific value.

Makes The Ironing So Much Faste

When I took this out of the box it looked amazing. You use an old iron for years, not really realising how much more difficult it makes ironing. Then you get one of these and you realise how much easier and quicker it makes doing the ironing. It is smooth, it heats up super fast, the steam is strong but very easy to control. It covers the ironing in much less time than my other iron did. I also like the comfortable grip that takes the pressure off your wrist and elbow. The weight is good but not heavy. I just wish I’d been using it before now as it makes ironing more manageable and gets it done in a much shorter time. Even sheets are smooth, without the effort. Recommended.

    This is a good iron.
It’s easy to use- very straightforward.
It has a good weight- not too heavy or light.
It’s ironed my clothing well – from jeans to blouses.
    Overall a good reliable buy.

My previous model wasnt a steam one and I had to sprinkle water every few seconds and that itself was a hassle I was looking to not live with. With this new and shiny model, I didnt have to worry about that chore and pressing my clothes have been so much easier.

I have a couple of very difficult (cotton and linen) shirts that was impossible with my other model. At around 80% of the heat, it smoothes out even the toughest of the wrinkles on these two (favourite) shirts of mine. Would definitely recommend

This iron is really simple to operate. It is really steamy and powerful. As you would expect from brands like Philips, the built quality is excellent and well worth the price if you are willing to pay for quality appliances. The glide of the iron is really smooth. Solid performance and built!

I admit to ironing almost everything except socks, so I do iron a wide range of different materials. The first thing I noticed about this iron was how heavy it was, the second was that the water tank was much bigger than my old iron too and the third thing that the electric cord is a decent length.
The iron was very quick to heat up and the controls were easy to move and adjust. I have tried the iron out on bedding, jeans, cardigans and blouses, nylon, linen, cotton and wool. I always use the steam as I don’t have a dryer. The steam is even and there is no dribbling of water, which I hate. The steam was easy to direct and the steam blast via the button well directed.
I am very happy with the results I did like the instant steam, instead of having to wait until it was heated up. The water was easy to pour away and the iron totally emptied by using the steam button. Really nicely made iron with some great features.

    Great for any material

I am really impressed with this Philips steam iron. Much pricier than other irons but it is more than worth it for the quality and performance you receive. The plate heats up in almost no time at all and is much more narrowed and pointed at the top which makes it much easier to get into the corners of clothes and also for smaller areas like collars and cuffs. There is a huge range of adjustable settings including material specific modes. The numerous steam functions means it can be used for a variety of things and can be used to steam hanging clothes also using the top steamer. The cord is a good length which allows it to be used in more areas around the house. The only negatives in my opinion are that the iron is quite heavy compared to others especially when the water reservoir is full. Additonally the packaging it arrived in was in a bit of a rough state. Otherwise absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend.

    Amazing

This is an excellent iron with a good amount of steam readily available and the sole plate is the ideal shape for shirts being a little thinner than most I have used.

It feels comfortable to use and not too heavy

    Good Value and Recommended

    Pros:
    1. Long cable so there is ease of use even when the electricity socket is far,
    2. Cable is attached to ball shaped thing that moves really easily which makes operating the iron easy
    3. Iron works as described, tried to make video of ironing but it’s not easy one hand holding iron and one holding iPhone but you should see it’s straightens easily the wrinkles on the shirt

Overall it’s good quality iron. Is it worth the price? I’m hesitating in a bit, none branded irons sometimes have more features in this price range like ability to detach the cable and iron without it. On the other hand the quality of the ironing and steam functions are far better than in the cheap irons, so I think that depending on the needs choice needs to be made.

For sure this product does what is promises.

Does the job, good iron, love steam functio

This wonderful iron is 2600 watts of power. It heats up really quickly and produces lots of steam when you need it. I like to use ironing water to protect the iron and smell nice at the same time.
I am fussy about my iron but this one holds nicely and feels like it’s weighted just perfectly.
If you are looking for a quality iron that will tackle every from shirts to jeans to cotton sheets, then this is the iron for you.
    Highly recommended

The first thing I noticed about this iron is that it has a good weight to it. I do have a cheap iron that I use for dressmaking and I find that I do have to press longer as it doesn’t have the weight to it that the Phillips Series 5000 has.

There are various settings on the Phillips Iron that gives better control over the clothes you iron. These range from the cooler settings up to the hotter ones for heavier, cotton and very creased clothes. Also, the adjustable steamer facility is great, I used this on a delicate but heavily creased item while it was on a coat hanger, the steam function allowed me to steam the creases out rather than iron them.

There is a good-sized water reservoir and this lasted through a load from the line. There is the usual sprayer and also steam booster buttons.

This is a very good steam iron, it has a good size plate and is very effective with heavily creased clothes. I like this as it is so easy to use, you don’t need to press too hard as the weight of the iron and the heat does the work for you.

Phillips is a well-known brand and one that I have had several items made by in the past. It is a brand I trust. It is a well made and very good quality iron, that heats quickly and does a brilliant job. I would definitely recommend it.

Having worked in the electrical trade for over 20 years I was always impressed with the specifications of a Philips iron.

First impressions are what you’d expect from a Philips iron, quality, a good easy to hold iron.

The Iron is 2600 watts and has a very capable steam boost, really does blast them creases.

Its performance is fantastic, you control the steam as you require, had no issues with it performance is was perfect each time

Does the Philips make Ironing more enjoyable, probably not, but It does make it easier and faster.

This is an extremely well made product that works extremely well, don’t wait for your old iron to break, buy one of these they are brilliant.

After having to iron all my shirts for work every day this really feels like a pleasure to do the ironing.

The teamGlide Plus soleplate makes the iron glide over my clothes a lot more effortlessly in comparison to my old cheap iron.

The model of iron I am using is a Philips Steam Iron Series 5000, 2600 W. this model is a little bit more powerful than the 2400W version and it has a couple of settings I have no idea how to use but it sounds cool.

It has a built-in Clac-clean slider, several different steam options and go-faster stripes on the bottom of the iron.

One of the things I actually love about his iron is that it has a pointy tip which is a bit easier to iron the corners of my shirts.

This iron holds 320ml of water. I tend to use filtered water to reduce the limescale buildup on the irons. I think I will do the same with this one too as it’s a really nice iron. I can recommend it to anyone who needs to do ironing several times a week.

100x better than my old cheap one.
