It is the best Pokmon game nothing else to say. It being an open world game and enabling the player to engage with Pokmon crafts a perfect Pokmon game coming together with the mysterious story of sinnoh makes it just perfect Pokmon game but the only problem is it takes a lot of time to 100% that is the only problem.
With a game design similar to that of monster hunter, I find this game even more entertaining than that. With a very compelling story and some very interesting characters this game is just a lot of fun. I could play it for hours without getting bored and I really enjoy all it has to offer.
There are a lot of mechanics to come to terms with making it somewhat challenging to begin with. On top of the mechanical challenges the battles are also more challenging that 90% of the ones you would come across in the original games, even with the buff of having the knowledge of what moves are effective against your opponent without needing to test the move for yourself the Pokmon you face can do unpredictable amounts of damage thanks to the introduction of strong and agile movement types.
Overall this is the most fun I have had with a Pokmon game since pearls original release and it has done a very good job at breathing new life into what I consider to be quite a stale franchise as of late.
Great open world game! Loving the story and having an open world experience for Pokemon, not much in the way of customising character but it fots the time period it’s set in!
Yes. Pikachu!! Wow, get a load of that Machamp! Can’t stop playing, just want more. Pokeballs, hello to the other players of this fantastic game, come join us and catch’em all! Music, so good, graphics smooth like a Voltorb. The game play is much more energetic like a rowdy Ryhorn than any dysfunctional Team Rocket plan of attack (or lack there of)! The plastic case could be made more sustainable.
After a few months of playing I must say it’s up there with the best Pokmon (and Nintendo in general) games. For the first open world style game it delivers exactly what you’d expect. With some improvements to be made in their next open world style game. As a first title in the style I think it’s great.
This game takes the Pokemon franchise in a slightly different direction. On a whole I don’t like open games because I tend to get lost extremely easily. Whilst this is sort of open world, it was easy to navigate & the controls were quite straight forward. Not sure if this is the best Pokemon game but it is decent. The good thing is that there is a single version of the game & no online trading is necessary. One of the bad things is that the final battle with Arceus is extremely difficult & I had to get someone else to do thst for me.
Taking cues from the wild area of Pokmon Sword & Shield, this is a different kind of Pokmon game. There are no gyms, but plenty of Pokmon to catch. Your mission is to complete the first ever Pokdex.
This can actually be done without the need to trade, though this is still an option (both locally and online).
Exploration takes inspiration from the sublime Breath of the Wild, though of course you shouldn’t expect too much of that. Throughout the adventure, you will gain the ability to summon wild Pokmon to help you traverse each of the separate open-world areas, each summonable ‘mon being a brand new evolution, each large area teeming with wild ‘mon, with some only coming out at night, and some only appearing in space-time distortions.
You can choose to battle, catch or ignore the wild Pokmon you come across, but be warned – many will happily attack you. Unlike previous games, having your party knocked out doesn’t cause your character to black out – but being attacked by wild Pokmon can if you don’t skedaddle sharpish.
Wild battles can get frustrating at times, because you can end up fighting two, three or even four Pokmon at once, with no option to send more than one out at a time yourself. There’s also a weird balance issue, where low-level ‘mon can do a shocking amount of damage to higher-level ones, even with attacks that aren’t especially effective, moves that would do almost no damage in previous games, even if you’ve used the various grit pickups to boost your Pokmon’s stats (these are the new IVs for this game, with EVs unfortunately being omitted entirely).
Throughout your adventure, you will gain ranks, tangle with eneaged “boss” Pokmon, and unlock new areas to explore.
It’s not a perfect game, but it’s a very good step in the right direction for the series, and potentially a good indicator of what to expect from the upcoming open-world Scarlet & Violet.
Story for children and graphics leave something to be desired, but as an evolution of the series (having played gen 1 at launch) this is a wonderful experience
I used to play Pokemon back in the day on my gameboy color so it’s a little bit nostalgic game for me – the differences between other Pokemon games and this one are obvious (catching them outside the fight without spending X amounts of time in fights, crafting and full 3D experience). This is the game which made me return to Pokemon franchise games (bought switch solely for newest Kirby but bought this game just to check it out) and if every consecutive title would usethe same mechanics of catching and crafting I would prolly buy them too. 100% worth the price.
his game brings a brilliantly fresh style to the Pokmon franchise. i really enjoy the satisfying feel of completing a section of the Pokedex and has the familiarity of catching and battling Pokmon, just like in the original games. i wont lie i am definitely bias to the franchise, but it is definitely an enjoyable game. highly recommend to the fellow pokefan.
I was abit apprehensive at first. but i absolutely love this game its abit like Botw as you can roam around the open world. I thought catching pokemon would get boring but this game makes it fun. Highly recommended!
Pokemon is great, but arceus is a new standard it has just about everything weve wanted in a pokemon game! Perfect for old and new players and i strongly hope to see this continue in the pokemon games of the future
It seems like a perfect blend of open world exploring and beautiful landscapes of Breath of the Wild, with the Pokemon world we know and love. I really recommend it!
Had to buy this online purely because it’s sold out everywhere in local shops but well worth the money it was a late Christmas present for my daughter who loves the game
i think that this is one of the best pokemon games ever, catching pokemon was so easy and shiny hunting got a whole lot easier. i do feel a lurch in my heart anytime i find a shiny since they are very uncommon, overall 5 stars for this game. and the best part was that the copy i got was a pre order version so it had the cool clothes, i do wish i ordered from us because i could have gotten the garchomp kimono, i can,t guarantee that you will get the pre order verison but maybe you could.
Bought for my 10 year old, he’s hooked!
Had a quick go myself… Also hooked!
I’ve never played a Pokmon game before so can’t compare but apparently the fact its “open world” is a great change according to my son ..? He also said “theres alot of dialogue”.. but as a none gamer I found this helpful in getting going as had no idea what I was doing!
Its a big winner in this house, which took the edge off spending 40 quid for a game… 😛
Such a good game. Would recommend to anyone who loves pokemon or who is new to it. Love the new type of pokemon gameplay. A must have game on the switch!
Great open world adventure that occupied my wife’s time to complete the main story. Now she just has to ‘catch ’em all’.. hopefully I’ll get to see her again in the summe
Huge fan of Pokmon, this was a refreshing change to the normal game. Not as heavily focused on in game battles with other players and not just about making the best team. The Quest were a great idea. Something different and had actually catch/battle Pokmon multiple times to complete Pokdex. Story was refreshing and new not the same old one. (Single parent sends only kid out to catch and battle monsters single handed takes down crime operation becomes champion).
But overall love this game the open world, the catching of Pokmon style free throwing poke balls and stealthy aspect to catching. Shiny odds good and see them in real time.
Feels like a totally new game. It is a prequel game and a open world view. There are quests and paths to follow, or you can just wander searching for pokemon. It is both fun and hard in places. Fun and refreshing for die hard pokemon fans and newbies alike.
I really love open world exploration games with a great story and very quest driven. So I’m really enjoying the game. I love seeing the Pokmon walking around in game, collecting resources and completing the Pokdex. Brilliant game!
It’s a really good Pokmon game. It’s very fresh and actually loads of fun to play. Catching Pokmon has never been so good. It’s not perfect, it feels rough in places, map design can be quite bland, there’s not really anywhere to go just empty fields, its pretty glitchy as well, a lot of pop in, but if you can look past all that the loop of catching and fighting Pokmon is so much fun, best it’s been in a long time and at times is actually challenging. I really want to see a sequel of this as it’s a great idea on paper but just a little rough around the edges for the first game of its kind. Its More like a fun prototype of what an open world Pokmon game can be at the moment.
I grew up loving the series, but haven’t really enjoyed a mainline game since Ruby and Sapphire (excluding remakes). I’m 25 now, and this franchise is very important to me, but it’s been a long, long time since one of these games grabbed me like Legends Arceus has done.
Initially, when the concept was revealed and the initial trailers shown, I was as cynical as the next person, scoffing at the graphics etc. I had no plans to purchase this game, but then I started to see videos on Twitter of the unique experiences people were having when catching and watching Pokemon in the wild. I bit the bullet and ordered the game and I’m so, so glad I did.
This game made me fall back in love with the franchise. I almost feel like every moment I spent watching the anime, playing the games and collecting the cards has led up to this game. Taking the focus away from battling and giving the player more control has injected so much life into the game. Being able to see the Pokemon in the environment can create some truly tense moments, whether you’re waiting for the right moment to strike them with a Pokeball or trying to sneak by an Alpha Pokemon.
The story also deserves a mention, taking the focus away from the gyms/elite 4 narrative and trying something completely new. I feel that they managed to introduce boss battles to the series in a really compelling way and I’m excited to see how this progresses moving forward into the next game.
Quite simply, I feel like this is the best Pokemon game I’ve ever played. This is not said to belittle the success of previous games in the franchise, rather to highlight that this game has recaptured the magic I felt as a child, loading up Pokmon Blue for the first time after a morning of watching Ash and Pikachu on tv. The freedom this game gives you is the same freedom you imagined yourself having as a kid when you wished you were a real Pokemon trainer.
Hopefully my review doesn’t come across as too sentimental, but I can’t emphasise enough how beautiful an experience it has been playing through this. All my early cynicism washed away within 2-3 hours of playing, and I could not put this game down. There are a few odd graphical choices, but at no point did this ever impact gameplay in a significant way or compromise my immersion.
Let’s face it, no one was ever playing a Pokemon game for graphics in the first place. But there is a solid foundation here, and I am happy to support this game in its current state with the hopes that the next one will be even better.
If you have any nostalgia for this series, buy this game, I promise you won’t regret it.
I’ve been a fan of pokemon since the 90’s and I can honestly say this is one of if not the best pokemon game I have ever played! It’s so incredibly immersive, you have full control of your surroundings, you can choose each quest and when to do it, and the chance of shinies is so much higher, I’ve caught 5! Which is more than I’ve ever caught in any other pokemon game! Yes the graphics could use a little work, mainly in the backgrounds and the frame rates but you barely notice once you start playing. Also, delivery was very quick and efficient and arrived sooner than previously stated, so also very happy there, jiggly recommend all the way!
Pokemon Arceus is the best pokemon in years, it stears away from the traditional format of gyms and elite four, to really appreciate the game you really need to try it out.
This game completely changes the way you play. Part Pokemon go, part survival game, part traditional Pokemon game.
I have spent hours collecting materials, crafting pokeballs and catching pokemon to fill my pokedex and the time flies by. This is by far the best game they have made and I can’t wait for more just like this.
In the interests of teaching my 9 year old the value of money, I suggested to her that she save up and we split the cost of this game 50/50 which should mean we both get to play, right? WRONG! It arrived, I got as far as picking my starter pokemon and I’ve not been able to play since. Im giving it 5 stars on the basis my daughter seems to enjoy it because shes stolen the switch and I’ve not been allowed on since!
So many little subtle touches on this game it is unreal. The best Pokemon game in the series, there are so many quests and side quests. The only downside is, I haven’t found any trainers lurking for a battle, but that might be a good thing for you. The only other thing is, you have to go back to the village each time before going to a different area, kind of annoying. I think it is such a fun game though, it is crying out for a legends “mew” edition and also DLCS
As a die hard pokemon fan since it first came out, i was looking forward to this, it does not dissapont, of course it is different to the usual fare, and yes, some of the graphics could have been done a little better and smoothed out in places, but overall it is a very enjoyable game, i hope they continue a series in this vein.
For me, this has got to be the best Pokmon game that has ever been made!
Yes, the graphics are a bit pants at times.
Yes, there is a lot of dialogue to go through before you start playing.
Yes, some of the new Hisuian regional and evolutions look a bit pants too.
But the game itself is so good, the storyline is very good too. They have taken a lot of time to go into the lore of Pokmon itself and I for one am happy with it!
I’ve been playing the games since I was 5 and this game genuinely made me feel like that little kid agai
Recent user of Pokmon sword and shield this is a huge step up and feels like an entire different game other than the Pokmon games I’m used to. Amazing new styles and game play. Easily best Pokmon game in years.
Growing up with Pokmon from a young age I have seen the evolution of the games since red/blue. This is by far a great addition to the series and a credit to the developers!!! Well done
My brother LOVES it! He had so much fun I cough a copy myself, I can say I love how the new machanics work! I havn’t completed the main quest but so far it’s amazing!
Really great game and completely different to any other Pokmon game. Open world very much like Zelda. The only down side I would say is the rendering could be better and it’s a little glitchy with characters merging with walls and levetating.
Attempting to recreate the success BoTW, the game contains common open world elements, such as resources gathering and exploratory world map. It is a pity to see loading is still required when switching from one area to another. Sub quests are repetitive too
I’m really enjoying playing this game as a long term pokemon fan. I hope they continue the rpg style in future games and double down on what makes arceus fun. Like running for you life in the storms lol. It’s definitely worth a play.
This game is brilliant, very addicting, you just got to catch them all!
I love how you can ride a super fast Pokmon instead of walking all the time.
The battle system is superb, the effects are great and not to mention the graphics of the Pokmon.
Although I have only mainly been doing side quests, exploring and catching new Pokmon, I’m having a blast with this game already.
If you’re a Pokmon fan, I highly recommend this game.
The only “con” I have with the game is the bag space. There’s so many different items, and you have to spend quite a lot on an extra bag slot. So my bags are usually full most of the time.
This is a completely new direction for the Pokemon games and BOY it’s definitely worked and over due when this was announced I was so so so excited for its release I’ve been a Pokemon fan since the gameboy days with Pokemon red and blue I love Pokemon but even I was getting slightly bored of the same RPG style game for the past 25+ years but this one is a breath of fresh air it’s been on every single day since release and I absolutely addicted to it the story mode is actually a story with decent details this time around and last a good 25 hours from start to finish the battle style catching the Pokemon throwing poke balls and seeing Pokemon walking around is truly amazing the fact that they can attack you is a really good new feature that gives the Pokemon character like never before the amount of Pokemon available is massive the crafting of poke balls etc is a good bonus and this game just works it really does I could talk about this for days yes the graphics aren’t the best but it makes up for it in so many more ways a absolutely must buy for anyone who owns a switch the only downside to this game play is it can become a little grindy sometimes which can happen with RPGs that’s why it’s got four stars not five but highly recommended all the same
I love Pokemon, I’ve played a lot of the games over the years and generally enjoyed them, though I have found them stale and lacking in some of the latest iterations.
I was curious about this one as it represented something a little different and it has delivered. It’s by no means perfect but I am hoping they continue with this idea.
Filling in the Pokedex involves more than just finding and catching one of each Pokemon and although it should feel grindy and repetitive to complete the tasks I find it quite enjoyable.
Battles are still turn based but feel a bit more interesting with the introduction of strong and agile stances which affect damage and speed. You can be ganged up on by two or more Pokemon which makes it a challenge at times even if you have a high levelled Pokemon.
The story is fresh by Pokemon standards, progression isn’t tied to a gym system but on how much research you’ve done and a challenge per area.
As many have said, the graphics are lacking. The textures are not brilliant, the landscape is pretty sparse and flying Pokemon look horrendous as they seem to flicker between just a couple of frames when they’re in the distance. There are a lot of graphical glitches and a lot of artifacting around models in caves in particular. This is annoying and distracting at times and less than what should be expected from a major game studio (seriously Game Freak, hire some more people and spend some money) but in spite of this I’ve sunk a lot of hours in already and can see myself playing a lot more. I’ve had a lot of fun with this game and hope there are more like it in the future.
Even if you’re a bit tired of the Pokemon games I’d recommend this one.
This game has re installed my faith in pokemon. Although good previous games became vary samey, despite many saying how bad the graphics are I love the art style. To say this games graphics are bad is to also say the same about zelda breath of the wild, its a great art style and I absolutely love the mechanics and the style of the game! Would love to see more like this in the future!! Highly recommend
I played all of the old Pokmon games as a child and was addicted then. Tried Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee but it’s hard to get into the new games as in general Game Freak haven’t evolved as a game company. But after hearing all the hype surrounding this game I pre ordered it because as a child my dream game was a ‘open-world’ Pokmon game.
This game does not disappoint! I played on it on my girlfriends Switch for the first 2 days then I went out and bought my own Switch. I connect it to the TV and it has brought my love for gaming back. I lost my love for video games after Call of Duty Black Ops 2.. (I know, totally different kinds game) but what I’m trying to say is THIS game brought my love back for the gaming! I really hope Game Freak bring out more games in this style.
This has to my favorite Pokmon game yet! I’m really enjoying it and having so much fun, very addictive! This is very different from the past Pokmon games
I was apprehensive about picking up this game. There was a lot of uncertainty how this game would pan out since it seemed it was taking a new step forward on how the game works. I’m so happy I decided to get it. I can’t stop playing it. The new gameplay strategy so refreshing, it feels close to a Zelda BOTW game but not a copy. I feel as though this is what Pokmon should of always been and I’m hoping future titles are similar.
I am really enjoying this Pokmon game! I haven’t finished it yet but it’s really fun! It’s my new favourite Pokmon game It really does make Pokmon fearsome creatures and you gotta catch them all! More than once! It’s a lot fun and if you love Pokmon! Buy it! ignore the haters! This game is awesome! Good job Game Freak!!!
This game is really good however there are some faults.
Things good about it:
Even though you have your standard dream team in your head the game makes you venture out for all different kinds of Pokmon which will automatically change your mind about your starting six.
The game has plenty of content so boredom will not come to you if you dont rush.
The story line makes sense especially for new players if they recently got BD/SP.
NPC’S are not catching you every corner so you will finally have a chance to breath if you have been playing since RED/BLUE
HM’S ARE NO MORE!!
Things that are bad:
Graphics are super poor, it was obviously made in the Covid19 Lockdown because it literally has Minecraft rendering block on corners, edges and far distances.
The new exclusive pokemon for this game are really bad accept Dialga, Palkia, Zoroark & Stantler. Hisuian weavile looks like a girl that spends all her time at the club and hasnt heard of a soft drink.
The levelling up system is way to easy, you can literally have a pokemon with maxed out IV’s within a hour of the catch.
Legendary’s come really late in game like really late, you wont have a taste of a legendary Pokmon until 30+ hours of gameplay
Online features are bad its literally Pokmon go on the switch.
Out of all the pokemon games on switch this is a Joint first with BD/SP so i recommend buying but it aint your average Pokmon game
This game is a vast improvement over the other Pokmon games released for Nintendo Switch. Battles are seamless as is Pokmon catching. You don’t go in to a separate battle screen. Also now when your Pokmon learn moves they can instantly be re taught to have whatever combination of moves you want that is within that Pokemons moveset. Also there is an in depth crafting aspect. Your Pokmon can find items in the environment when you throw them towards a tree ornrock for instance and get items you can craft with other items to make others, for instance you need an apricorn from a tree and a tumble stone from a rock to craft a pokeball. No more pokemart like the old games even though there is a NPC who sells items.
The battles as I mentioned are seamless. When you encounter and see a wild Pokmon you can just throw your desired Pokmon towards it and instantly start a battle without going into a seperate battle screen. The same applies when catching Pokmon. There’s also lots of different tasks different people will ask you to do as well as the main story and another NPC will ask you to find and collect 108 wisps for a certain item they give you 😉 I’m only 10 to 15 hours in and I personally are still in the story and I don’t believe near finishing. It’s fun and addictive to sometimes forget the story and catch and battle and craft. And also to complete the tasks each Pokmon has for the Pokdex to fill each page out. As this is Pokemons first ever Pokdex and you are discovering them for the first ever one. All in all I personally am really enjoying this game and I believe it’s definitely the best Pokmon game so far for the Nintendo Switch.
I am a long time fan of Pokmon. I collected cards as a kid and first played blue on my game boy colour in the late 90s (followed by yellow, silver you get the point). I’m recent years pokemon has become more mainstream since it’s Pokmon go resurgence in 2016 (which I still play to this day).
I had purchased the recent releases, let’s go, Pokmon sword, & brilliant diamond. I liked that let’s go was different, but it was the same game as yellow, with the exception that I wasn’t batting Pokmon I was catching. Hashing over the same layout the last 20 years, games started to lose it I think. You’d blast through them and it was just a race to the finish, not savouring anything. Enjoyable, but it needed something fresh.
I heard the idea about Pokmon, but in a breath of the wild format, and immediately had the same feelings as I did when Pokmon Go was announced. Something different!
I am also a big Legend of Zelda fan and Breath of the Wild I think is probably my favourite game of all time. The detail, even years later is still incredible to me. Swinging a sword and cutting down blades of grass level of detail.
I sat and played 4 hours in my first sitting. I couldn’t put it down. It was (almost) everything I had hoped it would be. When they say it’s Pokmon but like BOTW they’re not exaggerating. Tasks, open world, storyline – to me even down to the items you can pick off the ground and the music. The trees, flowers, mountains, plants and the ominous swirling hole in the middle of the map – near identical. A lot of it seems almost like they copied and pasted elements. When you defeat a Pokmon it goes up in smoke like when you take out a bokoblin. When you collect items and put them in your satchel it makes a similar deposit noise, when it doesn’t fit it rolls around on the ground in front of you. These elements are near identical. There is also a bit where you are fighting a large pokemon, which has higher than normal CP and you have to lure him towards a wall to rattle him and then have Pokmon battle it multiple times with a health meter that’s across the screen. Sounds very BOTW right?
So I say almost like BOTW because there are some imperfections. When you see garados flying in the distance, he’s moving in a glitchy motion. Sometimes when you are battling Pokmon in the grass, the grass glitches. And the one thing that drives me mad – I have to confirm I want to throw a pokeball in battle, despite it being the only reason I would press R2 in this situation, but when out in the field you have to switch between throwing Pokmon or throwing objects and balls and if you’re not paying attention, you’ll throw a ball at a tree or rock when you mean to bring out a Pokmon to retrieve items. Once you’ve thrown the ball, you can’t retrieve it either.
I like that I can hide in grass and throw a ball at Pokmon or battle it. I like that you craft items rather than just buy them (but you can buy the raw materials). It encourages you to explore. Once you get the hang of aiming the throw it’s pretty seamless. Base camps serve as places to rest and recover health, submit surveys to the professor, craft items, buy / sell and change out Pokmon.
One thing that was t immediately obvious to me (because I’m used to button mashing B through the stories) is that within the Pokdex you need to observe the Pokmon doing things, catch them, defeat them and this goes toward your survey points. So you end up catching dozens of the same Pokmon to complete the listing within the Pokdex. The Pokmon don’t pop up, you can see them but they may chase you and attack you, but again BOTW style, music changes and there’s an indication on the screen that something has seen you. As you do surveys and get points your star rating increases ( which you have to go into the village to get to). Thus far the only new Pokmon i have seen are some of the bigger ones that are part of the story rather than just wandering wild.
The controls are very different to standard Pokmon games, but I found it to be pretty close to BOTW menu and control wise.
I’ve played around 10 hours in the first day and I have to say I quickly established it was my favourite Pokmon game of all time – but that being said BOTW is my favourite game, so it was bound to happen! I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think it’s a great new approach. I don’t think it’s as well done technically as BOTW, but it’s really close. After 20 years, a fresh look at it is great not only for the fans but also for people who can tie in from different fandoms and new generations. I’m really enjoying it and picture that I will forever be playing on the same save file for years and years to come – which reminds me of how it was in the 90s and you were finding your way in in the world of pokemon. Really excited to see what more is in store
This is finally a step in the right direction that Pokmon fans have been crying out for for years. To summarise, it’s a hybrid of breath of the wild and a Pokmon game. Whilst there are signs the game has been rushed, such as the quality of some of the graphics, the gameplay makes up for it.
A must have for any Pokmon fan.
I can honestly say this is one of the greatest games from pokemon yet! Finally something fresh and it’s fantastic! Always something to do and I’m yet to be bored 6 hours in. This is the game pokemon was meant to be!
Only downside I would say is graphically its not mind blowing but everything else is 5*
Honestly, I didn’t know what to think at first when playing through the introduction, but I found myself really immersed in the game. Its very different to the traditional pokemon style, which made me want to play it more. You find yourself battling, catching or observing pokemon again and again, to be able to complete the hisui version of a pokedex.
I think OGs of the pokemon series may find it less appealing in my opinion, because it doesn’t follow the traditional style of pokemon. However, I think its definitely worth a go, and hopefully you watch gameplay first to see how different it is before buying.
The little Hisuian Pok Ball is so cute and the gameplay is simply amazing and a more immersive unlike a lot of other Pokmon games. Thanks GameFreak and Amazon for delivering
I bought this for my son as he is a big Pokmon fan. However I thought I’d have a little go and now I can’t put it down, it’s amazing. Sure some of graphics are a little hazy with lazy texture mapping and objects etc pop into view without any warning. But let’s not forget that this is not BOTW it’s Pokmon and it’s a gorgeous looking game, it’s fun, but can also be challenging at times. Finding and then catching Pokmon that you’ve heard of is so much fun, when I found my first Pikachu I said to myself omg it’s a Pikachu and was hoping that it wouldn’t flee the scene before I’d caught it. Got to catch ’em all. Just a pleasure to play.
Amazon for some reason didn’t dispatch the game until 1 day after the release date, so obviously it arrived late. But the game is still brilliant.
This is the game we’ve all been waiting for, that finally shakes up the formula and modernises it. Catching pokemon has never been more fun till the arrival of this game giving you the option to sneak up and catch pokemon without battling. This genuinely feels like Pokemon has finally been formatted into the modern JRPG’s we’ve been playing in the past decade. Don’t second guess this purchase and thank me later, if you’ve been on the fence with pokemon as of lately with the subpar release of brilliant diamond and pearl this honestly has restored my faith in the franchise.
First off, this is one of the best games ever made. Hands down. Not just Pokemon, but across all genres, all consoles. Breath of the Wild maybe just about beats it to best Switch game of all time.
If you have any inclination of buying this, do it. Now.
Not posting any spoilers here, but it’s the breath of fresh air to the Pokemon franchise.
New mechanics and new Pokemon are just the tip of the iceberg, with a Brand New base of storyline for the game.
Wont say anything else on it, only go have fun, and catch them all !!!
I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this one, but I like it and I think others will too. It’s very different from any of the other Pokmon games, the battles are more realistic, you can call out your Pokmon to get berries and materials for you, you can craft Pokballs and potions, and you’re given research tasks that you have to complete in order to add Pokmon to the poke dex. The personality type of a Pokmon determines how you can catch it, so some you can sneak up on to catch and others you must fight.
You can get knocked out by wild Pokmon if you’re not careful. It’s true that the graphics aren’t as good as say, BOTW, but I’m not really finding it bothersome. The game’s very interesting and new and I’m curious to see where it will take me!
So much fun, but runs out of steam. Slightly repetitive towards the end, but such a fun journey.
When i asked my son to review this he rated it 4 start as it’s great but had ‘a bit too much dialogue ‘.
Waay waaay enjoyable than sword/shield.. Open world and it’s actually fun catching Pokmon now
Yes.
Being a Pokemon fan, I love this game so damn much! It’s a great game to have for any Pokemon fan.
I don’t know anything about this but my son loves it and has had 0 complaints so thanks haha. Perfect.
After a few months of playing I must say it’s up there with the best Pokmon (and Nintendo in general) games. For the first open world style game it delivers exactly what you’d expect. With some improvements to be made in their next open world style game. As a first title in the style I think it’s great.
This was on a birthday list and very well received when the present was opened.
Bought for my son. He said 4 out 5 so guess hes pretty happy with it.
Quick delivery item purchased for grandsons birthday I’m sure he will have hours of fu
ot much to say its a great game worth buying kids love it works grea
This was a gift for my son. He is 15. He says it’s an awesome game and gives it 10 out of 10. This is praise indeed
Great game. Really brings a whole new spin on the whole Pokmon games. New and interesting.
This is a great, amazing game!
I can not stop playing!!
would recommend this to anyone who loves pokemon it gives you a fresh new gameplay on the old classic game
Absolutely love this different Pokmon game, hours of fun battling and catching Pokmon whilst being able to free explore
Great game. No issues with the cartridge itself so far, but there have been a few glitches.
his game brings a brilliantly fresh style to the Pokmon franchise. i really enjoy the satisfying feel of completing a section of the Pokedex and has the familiarity of catching and battling Pokmon, just like in the original games. i wont lie i am definitely bias to the franchise, but it is definitely an enjoyable game. highly recommend to the fellow pokefan.
The best ever game to play I have lots of fun playing on my favourite games
So different than previous titles, a fresh, new and needed change.
I was abit apprehensive at first. but i absolutely love this game its abit like Botw as you can roam around the open world. I thought catching pokemon would get boring but this game makes it fun. Highly recommended!
Exactly what I was looking for. Very playable, delightful for Pokemon enthusiasts and I highly recommend.
Pokemon is great, but arceus is a new standard it has just about everything weve wanted in a pokemon game! Perfect for old and new players and i strongly hope to see this continue in the pokemon games of the future
Brilliant storyline with great graphics and it lasts ages so it won’t be finished quickly also lots of side quests
It seems like a perfect blend of open world exploring and beautiful landscapes of Breath of the Wild, with the Pokemon world we know and love. I really recommend it!
Really good variant on a pokemon game. Different style and it was good fun to play.
Rpg elements and lots of mini games. It does gst a bit grindy when you’re trying to fill out your pokedex but otherwise good!
Had to buy this online purely because it’s sold out everywhere in local shops but well worth the money it was a late Christmas present for my daughter who loves the game
Very fun game to play. It came in good and brand new quality and could not expect it to be any bette
Best game ever. I don’t need to say any more.
i think that this is one of the best pokemon games ever, catching pokemon was so easy and shiny hunting got a whole lot easier. i do feel a lurch in my heart anytime i find a shiny since they are very uncommon, overall 5 stars for this game. and the best part was that the copy i got was a pre order version so it had the cool clothes, i do wish i ordered from us because i could have gotten the garchomp kimono, i can,t guarantee that you will get the pre order verison but maybe you could.
Little bit different to typical Pokemon games but really worth purchasing.
The game is all its hyped up to be and much more.
Would definitely recommend for Pokmon lovers
Huge fan of Pokmon, this was a refreshing change to the normal game. Not as heavily focused on in game battles with other players and not just about making the best team. The Quest were a great idea. Something different and had actually catch/battle Pokmon multiple times to complete Pokdex. Story was refreshing and new not the same old one. (Single parent sends only kid out to catch and battle monsters single handed takes down crime operation becomes champion).
But overall love this game the open world, the catching of Pokmon style free throwing poke balls and stealthy aspect to catching. Shiny odds good and see them in real time.
Incredible twist on a traditional game with fun and engaging mechanics
Feels like a totally new game. It is a prequel game and a open world view. There are quests and paths to follow, or you can just wander searching for pokemon. It is both fun and hard in places. Fun and refreshing for die hard pokemon fans and newbies alike.
Great game, great concept. Enjoying playing through the new Pokmon format, great for beginners and people who have been playing for years.
This game is different from other typical Pokmon games that I have become accustomed too but I like this game and can’t wait for the next one
I really love open world exploration games with a great story and very quest driven. So I’m really enjoying the game. I love seeing the Pokmon walking around in game, collecting resources and completing the Pokdex. Brilliant game!
Absolutely LOVE and super addicted to the game.
Highly recommend the game.
Would give the game more stars if I could
The delivery was great and I love this game it is amazing.
The perfect Pokmon game. Great story, amazing animations and beautiful scenery.
My grandkids aged 9 and 7 really enjoyed it as it was quite challenging.
I love it a lot and I want to play it foreve
Pokemon Arceus is the best pokemon in years, it stears away from the traditional format of gyms and elite four, to really appreciate the game you really need to try it out.
What a game !! Exceeded my expectations!!
For the first time I don’t feel like a kid for playing Pokmon at 31 !!
They really have built on Pokmon go and the games and have gone for the best of both !!
Keep your wits about you , Pokmon will attack you , Sort your timings out get your Pokmon ready and catch em all
This game completely changes the way you play. Part Pokemon go, part survival game, part traditional Pokemon game.
I have spent hours collecting materials, crafting pokeballs and catching pokemon to fill my pokedex and the time flies by. This is by far the best game they have made and I can’t wait for more just like this.
It’s something that pokemon should have done ages ago but at least they did it now and hopefully will continue doing similar games to this.
This is probably the most fun that I’ve had playing a Pokmon Game.
Amazing game, fantastic concept, awesome game mechanics that i hope make it into future games!
Buy it! Worth every penny!
Great game focused on studying Pokmon rather than beating 8 gym leaders as always
Played Pokemon since Pokemon Blue, this is amazing and a must try for all fans!
Overall, brilliant game.
Finally an open world fun Pokmon game ! 10/10. I work full time with a family and I’ve rout in 10 hours already. Well done for this Pokmo
10/10
This has to my favorite Pokmon game yet! I’m really enjoying it and having so much fun, very addictive! This is very different from the past Pokmon games
I was apprehensive about picking up this game. There was a lot of uncertainty how this game would pan out since it seemed it was taking a new step forward on how the game works. I’m so happy I decided to get it. I can’t stop playing it. The new gameplay strategy so refreshing, it feels close to a Zelda BOTW game but not a copy. I feel as though this is what Pokmon should of always been and I’m hoping future titles are similar.
My favourite Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch so far. I just love it, and I can’t stop playing!!
I am really enjoying this game. It’s a great shake up to the series and I’d love to see more like it in the futures.
Bought as a gift for a pokemon fan, recipient loved it, hours of fun!
Don’t focus on the negative, focus on the positive. Its one of the best Pokmon games ever made and it is not a joke.
Finally a Pokemon game that feels fresh, since the GBA days I have not felt the same feeling exploring a Pokemon game 🙂
Been playing since gen 1 and so happy with this new addition. It’s so refreshing, fun and addictive!
