Used two cams one at the front of my house to cover my drive , and the second at the back of my house to cover the garden, Used a micro card bought separately to record, does a great job night and day the free reolink app covers everything to adjust cam settings and to survey what cam has recorded and on the spot surveillance, very satisfyed, for this reason a indoor cctv next, gives great piece of mind when out for the day
Very good camera. Easy to set up. Also works with Hikvision NVR over ONVIF
I have had this up on my 5Ghz wifi and it’s not really caused any problems. The wifi stays connected well and the recording os OK. Sometimes i do lose connection and the recording files might be for 5 mins, 2 mins, 10 mins, 1 min etc etc but once it’s rebooted it goes back to an hour recording. So far so good in a nutshell 🙂
Didn’t buy this product for security, the wife wanted to keep an eye on the comings and goings of wildlife in the garden, especially hedgehogs coming to feed at night, and has so far been excellent.
For the money, this is impossible to beat. It is a rugged camera that is apparently weather proof (although the connecting cables are not) and it connects to pretty much any local or remote video recording solution using FTP.
Better yet, unlike many other subscription-only devices, Reolink offer a free basic subscription so that a single camera can record video to the cloud and this is saved for seven days – I haven’t seen any other camera (or doorbell!) vendor offering this basic but essential service for free.
Physical installation is straightforward thanks to the detailed manual and template. That said, the cable access needs a 20-22mm hole to take the quite bulky connectors – easy if you have the tools but… not if you don’t…
One quality flaw is that the supplied power supply literally fell apart in my hands. Luckily I have a box full of old power supplies so it wasn’t a chore to find a compatible unit and get it going. Someone without such a stock, though, would need to return the unit – this is a glaring quality issue that dents an otherwise flawless unit.
Installation via the supplied app is straightforward – connect with a wired connection initially, then set up the wifi connection and you’re good to go.
Performance in daylight is exemplary. At night (see pictures) it’s also very good although I do find the infrared view a bit washed out. Having said that, night-vision without infrared is good but with is even better,
The app supports motion detection with local (i.e. the app or email) notification, and a really good “motion detection” screen where you can paint out the areas that you don’t want to be notified about. In my case, and you can see this in the screenshots, this is the road at the top of the screen. Painting that area out is easy to do and disables motion detection for passing cars, horses or spacecraft in that zone.
Finally, integration options are exemplary. I have this hooked into my Home Assistant smart home system, and my Alexa video devices. With the latter, I can say “Alexa – show me front door” and the camera appears on the Amazon display.
Finally, I can’t understate what a differentiator the Reolink “basic cloud subscription” service is. To my knowledge, this is unique in that every doorbell supplier, camera vendor, etc. want to charge you a few pounds per month to upload video to the cloud. Reolink allow you to do this for free (for one! device) which is very much appreciated.
Fantastic camera, easy to set up, very well priced, great support – highly recommended.
This is our 2nd purchase. Good picture quality both day and night. Good value
WiFi it’s weak! But when connected to Ethernet it’s good overall picture quality it’s ok
Most cameras on Amazon are low cost due to 2.5G internet pairing but we’ve moved on to 5G , Yes this cam works with 5G and I guess 2.5G as well. There are 3 options for picture quality (low mid high) low and mid don’t have much between them but high is a good picture. Night vision is good will light up an area bright around 7 meters so you can see your car on the road in good detail but it’s not going to give much detail of someone’s face walking past at night. It’s not as straightforward as they make out in the instructions to set up to your phone and WiFi but you can figure it out yourself. The video recorded doesn’t have fast forward viewing so you have to watch all recording to see anything has happened.
Easy to set up initially and was “online” on minutes. Have had some issues with false alarms caused by shadows and sunlight levels going up and down during the day. Problem is that the motion sensor isn’t able to distinguish people or vehicles so will always alarm when the viewed image changes, even when its just light level change or if the camera switches itself from colour to night vision. Not a major problem but unless you reduce sensitivity to absolute minimum in the day and turn off email alerts you’re very soon going to get an inbox full! Personally, I’d suggest going for the next model up with more intelligent sensor if I was to buy another. That said, everything else is absolutely fine.
I like the camera it very good quality easy to use, clear view and good price
Being a 75 year old non technically minded, i was not really relishing the job of installing the camera.
With a little bit of help with my sons ( by telephone ) we did the whole job in one afternoon, thanks to easy to understand instructions from manufacturers.
Well worth having and a cracking bit of kit
Thank you…
his is a very good camera easy to set up in few mins
Great camera. Easy to setup and use. Not sure if the WiFi range on camera is good or wether it’s the router range as it couldn’t detect the WiFi. We connected via a WiFi extender. Quality of picture is excellent even at night. Doesn’t pick up number plates at night due to reflection of light. Would definitely recommend it.
Motion detection is very sensitive.
I have 3 Reolink RLC-410W cameras and I’m extremely satisfied on how they work.I use them in a security system along with two Raspberry Pi’s which I installed OpenMediaVault on. For those who don’t know, a Raspberrry Pi is a single board computer the size of a credit card, if you need more details, ask your friend Google. The video settings I use are 1080p@30 FPS whith a video bitrate of 6144 kbps. In my opinion this is the best video setting of this camera in order to obtain excellent, fluent footage quality. I use the cameras’ FTP capability to record footage on two external hard drives attached to the two Rasperry Pi’s, this way all the recordings are kept indoors while the cameras are outside. They can record also on a microSD card if you prefer but of course you must insert a microSD card in the camera first and do not forget: the recordings will be outside, in the camera.
I only have words of praise for the Customer Services also. They are willing to go the extra mile to help
their customers. They offered me the support I needed, especially when I wanted to update the firmware of the cameras. Well done Reolink, you deserve 10 stars out of 10 !
Got four Reolink Cameras covering my home. Three different types of camera all as good as the next. Easy to set up, easy connection to our network, clear pictures great night vision, good recording options. I have sd cards in all cameras and also record to my PC so have backup if needed.
Add to this a first class support team and customer service and you have a Frist Class all round service and product. THANK YOU Reolink
We are very pleased with the camera. It was fairly easy to set up although we did need some help due to our lack of knowledge in setting up networking etc. The Reolink Support Team was extremely helpful in sorting out a couple of issues and also advising on how to adjust settings to suit our camera requirements and the Support Team also responded very promptly.
Easy to install app and link camera via QR code, excellent picture quality and zoom.
Works with new 5G hubs.
Excellent camera easy setup via manufacturers app on 5k WiFi clear quality pictures with many adjustments that can be made via the manufacturers phones app recommended
Easy to install, perfectly working with 256GB micro card, worth the price .
The camera is one of the best in its class, amazing clarity ,
The phone app works a real treat, so many useful functions , adding cameras is simplicity auto detects and adds the stream to the app,
A high quality product buy with confidence is all I can say
This is a great camera, super easy to set up and great picture quality too.
Super happy with i
Over all this is a really nice little camera…very easy to install with all the functions you could need.
The motion detection is a little difficult to set…..set it a bit too sensitive and you are inundated with alarms …a bit too little and you get nothing…it just takes a bit of juggling to get it right. The picture quality is excellent on the ‘live feed’ but not so good on playback, but having said that it’s more than acceptable…and the night vision is much better than I expected it to be….all in all a really good camera at a great price.
Bought this CCTV camera as it would connect to a 5ghz signal, whereas others only connect to 2.4ghz.
Our BT 2.4ghz keeps disappearing and BT can’t explain typical,
The camera is reasonably easy to set up, having downloaded the APP, just follow the instructions sent with it. It does a bit of time register.
Once registered i tested indoors before testing outside to make sure it would pickup the 5ghz. To start with it wouldn’t but after 20 mins it found the signal so i now have a perfect video/ picture of my back garden day and night.
For the money its a great bit of kit to make sure your puppy is not trying to dig there way out of your garden and how many Badgers or foxes visit.
The audio stream is also very clear. Unfortunately this model doesn’t have 2 way audio but in our case it would nice but not essential
This was easy to install, easy to set up, plenty of settings to mess around with to get your perfect stream.
First off it’s mains powered, but that gives me an excuse to fit a plug socket in the attic.
The image quality is amazing (day time – will add to this once I’ve tested it at night).
It’s dual band WiFi so there’s no messing around having to rename channels for it to work properly (Looking at you Blink)
Only gripe I have with it so far is the FOV (Field of View) is slightly lower than I thought (Horizontal: 80, Vertical: 42)
Sound quality is really good too, no sounding like the microphone is in a bin surrounded by daleks (once again Blink, looking at you)
Finally a camera that does what it says in the description. This is the third ordered from Amazon and the first to work. Previous ones have been 2.4ghz Wi-Fi only and have constantly dropped connection to my dual band router. This camera picks up on 2.4ghz and 5ghz and the difference is palpable. Setting up was very easy via the Ethernet cable provided and once disconnected the Wi-Fi worked perfectly. The camera is very solidly built with a very good locking mechanism once you’ve decided on positioning. The paper template for drilling the holes is a real help as is the extra length of power cable, which is often an ‘extra’ from other manufacturers.
The instructions are quite brief and I am yet to be able to figure out the email alert function, but with a little perseverance and use of Google I’m sure this will be in place soon. Overall a very well priced camera given its features. I may well be buying another to cover more areas of the house.
I’ve been reviewing several wifi cameras after my Yale system crashed. I had spotted the 4mp but then this one appeared but with no reviews. (It had just been released by Reolink) I wasn’t keen on battery operated cameras as the reviews were critical of battery life. I wanted the piece of mind of a mains powered system. Wow, I’m impressed so far. Easy to install but use the Ethernet cable supplied to set it up via the router as it might fail to install if just using the wifi. I was aware of this issue via a YouTube review on the 4mp. Once connected, just unplug the Ethernet and you’re good to go. Images are crystal clear and you have the option to reduce or increase image quality. It will take up to a 256gb sd class 10 card but I decided on the 128 and it’s ample. I’ve plenty of space left after 4 days of use. The App is brilliant to use and provides all the options available, including image quality, sound, playback and notifications. I’ve shared the camera with my wife via the App and that was seamless with the QR code. For the price you won’t be disappointed.
Like the app, easy to set up and fit.Good images.
I have in total of 3 Reolink cameras in my house two 4MP-410w and one 5MP- 511w it all started with buying a Chinese PTZ camera which was ok for a time and then I decided the images at night where rubbish and also the features it offered where not that great. I researched WiFi CCTV and I did not want to spent too much money but I wanted something great but I thought I would never find it and then Bam I found Reolink this cameras are simply great in terms of features and ease of use and the prices are great too I have the 5MP at my front door and it has 3x zoom and I use two 4MP at the back garden one is for my pond so I can view my Koi whenever I want :), now that they have come up with new models I decided to buy the new version of the 410w the 510w which is 5MP for my moms front door and let me tell you 1MP makes a difference as you can see the images are clear the night vision would be great too but I can’t show that because my mother’s house has a street light which is on all night but if you look at the night vision from my 410w just imagine how much better the 510w would be. I wish I found REOLINK before I spent 120 pounds on a Chinese PTZ camera because they do offer a really good PTZ camera too maybe I will get my hand on it someday soon and do a review on it. This cameras are the best out there no compromise on quality and features did I mention the new 510w has got an Ai feature that recognises cars and people therefore that will give you less false alarms if you have notifications on, the only feature I wish it had is two way talk you can only record sound with the 510w but if you are looking for two way talk they offer other models and also if you check their website they are coming up with brand new models with flood lights which will be releasing soon and they also offer 4K sd card recording cameras too , this company makes putting in security cameras around you home as easy as baking a pie all you need is a POE cable and done or you can get a completely wireless solar powered cameras, do not make the mistake to look anywhere else Reolink is the way to go thank you Reolink for this great cameras.
P.S they didn’t pay me for this review or give me free stuff I am just that excited about their products give them a try you will not be sorry.
The person that had the overexposure problem you have to go to the display options go down to dynamic mode and turn it slightly down then you will not have the problem it is easily solved if you adjust the display settings I had the same issues solved in in two minutes no need for the bad review if you luck the fix and also ask reolink for help they would be more than happy to solve the issue for you good luck.
+ good quality of body
+ app
+ good picture quality
+ price
– no pir senso
Very easy to set up and once adjusted the motion detection works very well only picking out people rather than a few leaves like my previous camera. Push notifications could be a bit faster and should have included a pic in the notification. Quality of pictures is very good and the fact it can do 5G stops any wifi blocking and pics are stored on the camera SD card so any thief would need to steal the camera also and wouldn’t be aware if you were also sending to FTP or on site storage.
For the 55 with a 32gb it’s hard to imagine there’s too much better value out there for a 4MP camera with all the features and fact Reolink are likely to be around for a while unlike the cheaper Chinese cameras where the software never gets updated and is a nightmare to translate or setup.
This camera is great good quality picture.
Great night vision.
Dual band good connectivity and clear HD picture. simple set up and good app for mobile devices. Recommended
Yes really good. Have it in horse stable to keep our eye on our horse.
Bought a couple of these for my new house as I couldn’t be arsed to remove the foscam cameras from the house my ex wife stole from me.
They’re actually not bad for the money, the field of view is narrower than the foscams but they don’t burden you with a horrible browser plugin to configure them. I have them recording on motion activation to a NAS, and with a static IP I’m able to use a third party app to pull the rtsp images from them remotely. It was a bit of a faff fiddling with the port settings and port forwarding to get that to work, and the different image streams have names like “fluent” instead of just channel numbers which took me a while to figure out.
Overall I’m pleased because they do everything I wanted them to.
Originally had an issue with this camera as with the supplied firmware the web interface used Flash player for the video stream. On contacting Reolink for a fix I was sent a link for a new firmware release which uses HTML5 to stream camera. Once installed everything is now working well.
I bought these cameras to supplement a Swann system which uses the wired version of these cameras as i needed wireless cameras for areas I couldn’t get CAT5e cabling to. The camera works well and gives excellent image quality during the day, the image using IR and night vision is good although the range is a bit limited compared to the Swann NHD-818. I mentioned these were to supplement an existing Swann system (NVR7400/NHD-818), I didn’t expect them to work with the Existing system and was just going to use the web interface with recording to SD card, however they were found by Swann Viewlink and live view and recordings could be seen on the mosaic display. The cameras didn’t record to the NVR however the SD card recordings could be viewed alongside the NVR recordings, all of which was an unexpected bonus. I have also used the FTP feed which sends files to an FTP server when motion is detected and this works extremely well, viewed using MPV player. They compare well with the Swann cameras and give excellent quality video streams, 4MP is perfectly good enough for hte majoritarian of use cases.
This camera was easy to set up giving very good pictures both day and night to keep an I on my property when I am at home and away, I had a few problems with viewing recorded video clips but contacted Reolink and they responded straight away and sorted everything out for me, I would highly recommend.
Jayson.
I am really pleased with the camera. I have gone through 2 other brands before settling on ReoLink. The picture quality is very good and fully configurable in terms of bit rate and resolution. But it’s the attention to detail that so many other camera manufacturers lack that is impressive – from the supplied 4 meter power extension lead to the ability to adjust the tilt AND rotation of the camera after it’s fixed in place. It’s supplied with all needed fixings and supports IOS/Andoid, Web browser access and connection to NVR and third party desktop monitoring software. They even supply their own free desktop viewing software if you want it. So 10/10.
2 of my hik cameras broke after 2 years so upgraded to one of these easy to set up. Better quality. Will buy more cheers great camera
Its a good camera but i found difficulties to pair the camera with phone app or pc.
Q code from phone app not recognize the UID number from the camera, i tried manually to add the UID number nothing. I tried also to login with the default user name and password nothing. I had used the Ethernet cable via POE method with reolink pc software nothing again. At this stage i thought that the camera was broken. After research from the internet i had found a solution.
Solution
To check if the camera works because there is no light indicators, connect the camera only with power socket. Place the camera in a dark room to see with the IR lights switch on. If are on, your camera is ok.
Press the reset button for about 10-15 seconds to reset your camera. You will notice that the IR lights are off.
Switch off the camera from power source.
Connect the Ethernet cable to the camera and router.
Switch on the camera from power source. (Power source and Ethernet cable both must be connected with the camera)
Open the Reolink software from a pc. Automatically shows camera image.
Now your done. 🙂
This is how i fixed my problem. i hope to help you also.
Very good camera. Easy to set up. An having app on mobile phone brilliant can view at any time an playback.
Works perfectly with the Reolink NVR, but you have to set the camera up on the NVR screen, not via the apps.
Great product built extremely well . The ease of use and setup simple
Does exactly what is designed to do has decent picture quality at day or night. The only thing I would say is you would be better off using a cable connection as in my case the WiFi causes the quality to dip and can be inconvenient. The best part about this product is the software, it is easy to navigate and anyone could use it 9/10 best for the price
This is not the first reolink camera I have used. My previous one was cheaper one with solar power but worked for a year before it started playing up so I had to buy another one. This one sounded good and I plunged myself into buying this. Picture quality is good, detection is better than the one before.
But I have one issue with this one, after the initial setting up I tried to log in to the app and it shows USERNAME OR PASSWORD INCORRECT message. Now it shows this message every time I open the app. Please help someone? Or point me out to the reolink tech help. I tried their website but the FAQ do not have the question I have and tried searching , didn’t work. Someone should know… What I am thinking is that after I did the initial set up with the admin password and all other stuff, some one tries to log into it without success and it gives me this message. If this problem is solved I was thinking of purchasing Night Vision RLK8-800D4 system. So please help….
Installed the camera inside the house looking out. Turned off the LED light and everything is good. The camera settings are customisable and includes blacking out an area or two to not trigger a screen capture or video. Great list of client connections, 1) browser 2) MAC and 3) windows client so all bases covered. Big plus is this camera does not use ‘Flash player’ but HTML 5 so good to go for all browsers. The Reolink support team answered a couple of queries and provide guidance above and beyond the average, they win five stars from me.
This is the 4MP camera or 1440p clarity if you prefer. This I believe is the best of the bunch for image quality and data saving where it’s between 1080P and 4K.
Hopefully the images captured show the detail it picks up and as an example the frost on the car can be seen very clearly.
From various YT reviews this camera performs really well and what helps me is that it utilises 2.4ghz and 5ghz WiFi bands as opposed to using PoE which is ideally preferable and may be something to visit in the future.
The Android App works really well and is easy to use, the NVR again works really well albeit a bit clunky in the GUI, it’s pretty much silent (no fan) besides the HDD writing it’s data, but again is by no means noisy and it does not get hot at all.
I did have some questions for Reolink Support and April / Ivy (even though it was via email) responded fairly quickly and answered my queries really well, let’s hope the Support holds up a year from now in case I have other issues.
I gave it 4 stars overall as the Notification setup uses Pixel changes as opposed to AI functionality to recognise the difference between a Human and say a dog or car.
It will be set off by any movement, yes you can block areas, but this may be an issue for some as it can be a bug flying by and or shadow changes on the ground/lights from cars passing by.
This is primarily why I got the NVR to constantly record and the Micro SD (64GB) cards to only do the motion recording, this works well for my needs I just turn off the notifications to my mobile otherwise you will receive a lot.
I have seen that Reolink have brought out newer cameras with AI functionality so this would be nice to test with my current setup.
Absolutely shocking I havnt had them a year and now its stopped picking up audio. Nothing but problems camera has a mind of its own. Likes to reboot its self just because. And intermittent with recording. I assumed it was my WiFi signal not being very good but just the same over a cable.
When I opened the box it looked as though it was a problem. When I saw a loose cable in the box, it was enough for me. I closed the box up and repacked it.
This review would have been 5 star bu for the fact that the power supply unit that came with the camera was outputting 0v thus rendering the camera useless. On contacting Reolink support and after numerous emails and messages, they have finally agreed to send out a new power supply unit to me so I can get the camera to work. Power supply unit on its way to me from China but not yet received yet. Reolink need to get their quality control right, otherwise nobody will buy their products.
Also, if mounting the WiFi camera, it it not possible to align the aerials correctly if pointing the camera at 90 degrees as they foul on the camera mount.
Having said all, this, customer service is 5* and having now received a new power supply unit, the WiFi cctv camera is now working 100%.
Would throughly recommend Reolink to family and friends without question.
Great camera great picture quality so easy to set up. Works like a dream I now have 3 cameras.
found this camera easy to set up,good quality, detection a little sensitive, but overall totally satisfied;
It is a very good camera and the software was easy to set up and use, I only had one query and Doris at Reolink sorted it out for me in minutes so good customer support as well, no complaints.
Great camera. Super sales service and responded very quickly to a couple of queries that were answered very effectively. Simo
Great camera for the money and easy to set up! Does the job for security and peace of mind.
The mount is very fiddly to aim the camera – a simple ball-joint would have been much better.
First ip camera I have owned, set it up to use reolinks own software but had problems getting it to record onto my pc using motion detection, contacted support who promptly gave me the information I needed.
I got the latest bt router and found my camera was rendered useless be warned you must now have 5g cameras 2.5 will not work on modern routers. This reolink cam is one off very few dual band. It connects strait out the box. And is a great item. Some say they have problems connecting to alexa, if you do simply click on Cloud and it connects itself
Great camera easy to set up and works a dream picture and footage excellent value for the money paid would recommend
Compared to the victure camera it replaced, this make and model shines like a star! It’s absolute in a different league, it’s fantastic, can not fault it in the slightest! One little tip is to ensure you connect it via ethernet cable to your modem for its initial introduction to your network before you fit it to the wall via wifi, either that or buy a super long ethernet cable once it’s in situ.
Good camera picture quality is good and it holds enough data for you to check back on past days
This camera is compatible with Swann NVR8-7085 the same as the RLC-410 is.
The RLC-410W does not seem to have identical features with the RLC-410 for example it does not have the option for a shadow behind the Date and Time. I suspect some features were removed to fit in WiFi and SD card.
NOTE: Make sure that your NVR clocks are re synced to either your phone or ntp (use ntp for Swann NVR8-7085) when adding this camera otherwise it can cause weird issues.
Really good camera have set up easily and has good images. Had massive problems with 2.4 ghz only ones with my wi fi.
Been able set up a small area that triggers the alerts, otherwise every car that goes past sets it off.
Waiting for the version with lights on so can set up by front door. Def v user friendly.
Not check out night vision yet but very pleased with camera so fa
I’ve got this hooked up using motion eye and connecting via home assistant. I’ve blocked internet access out for this camera without any issues.
Solid piece of kit.
Good build and picture quality
Helpful support staff resolved my tech issue
Bought this unit just over a year ago and was delighted with its ease of installation and quality of operation. In fact I bought three of the units I was so happy. However, about a week ago the unit stopped working at night and provided fuzzy images during the day. Checked it out. Water had got into the camera covering the light sensor and causing condensation leading to my problems. Contacted manufacturer and explained my problem. Was emailed straight back asking for photos of the location and the water inside the camera. Despatched photos and received a form requesting my name and address as evidence of purchase. Obliged and a new unit arrived within 5 days of my reporting the problem. I am very impressed by the service and professional approach bearing in mind the pressures all companies are under at the moment. Will definitely buy again from Reolink
Very happy with my purchase of 2 of these cameras to go with my Synology NAS setup. Will be using these to monitor the new house once we are settled i
Great sensitivity. But too much at times when it often picks up the reflected headlights of neighbours arriving. Even though it’s not pointing in their direction and no matter how I adjust its settings. But a great asset to my homes defence.
Easy to set up and the app works very well for remote monitoring. Highly customisable in terms of picture quality settings – frame rate and bit rate. I particularly like the motion sensor controls. Sensitivity settings stop it picking up rain and moving branches while still picking up people/cars/animals. What’s great is that you tell the camera to ignore movement in certain parts of the frame. Works really well with Synology nas. Good value.
Good product with great build quality. All metal housing will last. Good infrared coverage.
All told, seemed easy to set up. Very good wi-fi pick-up even of fairly weak signal. Reolink Android software is very good with lots of functionality.
Reolink RLC-410W Cameras
The cameras are well made solid and easy to fit. They have a good system of loosening and tightening the camera angles. The Wi-Fi antennas seem to do the job if the Wi-Fi router hub or pods are not too far away. The pictures are clear and do not get blocked out by rain. The night vision is amazingly clear compared with my old cameras. I had some trouble connecting all of them but that was not the fault of the cameras but my lack of networking abilities (see below). I have not explored all the facilities of the Reolink Client App, but it is easy to understand and quite fun set up. The only critism is that they are missing covers for the ethernet plug and the reset button. I had tried to set up 4 PTZ 2.4Mhz cameras on my old Combi router but failed as they clogged up the bandwidth. By buying the Reolink cameras with 2.4 and 5MHz bands, I avoided this choking of the bandwidths. I did notice in the Reolink Client App that there is a CPU and RAM monitor. At some stage the speed of my PC was getting very slow. It was then that I noticed that the RAM box had gone red and was showing 85% use. I had 8 GB in my PC but this was already used up by the cameras. I then bought additional RAM and now have 32 GB of RAM. Even now with all my programmes running it uses 30% of the 32GB RAM. This is still and amazing amount but everything now works fine. If you want to run multiple modern cameras on your PC, I highly recommend you buy some extra RAM.
I was a complete novice in the networking field. I made some basic mistakes which could have been avoided if I had read all the comments I read later when I had trouble getting my camera system to work. All in all, it took me 3 months on and off to set it up as I wanted it. This includes off course drilling hole and fitting the cameras, and in some cases, replacing them again. I have 4 cameras attached to the outside of my house (4500m2). I wanted them connected to my PC and iPad. My PC has a dedicated drive for the camera recordings only.
I bought one of the Reolink cameras to start with after a disappointing experience with 4 Smart PTZ Dome cameras with only 2.4 bandwidth. The Smart Cameras work OK if you just have one but the moment you try to have more than one it starts clogging up your Wi-Fi Bandwidth. I therefore thought I better buy a camera with 2.4 and 5 MHz bandwidth. That’s when I hit upon the Reolink dual band cameras. The setup was relatively easy in ethernet cable connected mode. I decided to buy another 3 Reolink cameras. Then I found that as soon as I disconnected the cameras from the ethernet cable, the cameras did not register on the Reolink Client “Device Basic Information” panel where you can see which cameras are connected and registered. I started to realise rightly or wrongly that my old ISP router, which is quite good could not connect to the Wi-Fi cameras that were further away. After trying and failing with some other routers to extend the signals I bought Google’s Mesh 3 pack router. This is a remarkable piece of kit with a central router and two pods that can be placed in the dead zones of your house. It is very easy to setup and has one of the best intuitive Apps for iPhone or iPad you can wish for. I first set it up as a separate router but that led to quite a bit of confusion between the two routers i.e. what was connected to what. After turning the Bands off on my old router the cameras were still not connecting properly. I then spoke to the Google Wi-Fi customer service people and they were very helpful and patient. The person I spoke to suggested that I set the whole Wi-Fi system, i.e. Google and my old ISP router into one big hub. Leave all router facilities on on both routers. I now have my modem/router connected as one unit with only one SSID. This has given me complete Wi-Fi cover over my (quite large and solid) house. However, it was still not possible connecting the cameras. They just did not show up on the cameras “found” list. I then noticed that when the Reolink Client software was looking for Wi-Fi router signals it came up with a list of 5 to 6 router signals, all with exactly the same SSID. I worked out that these were all my own router bandwidth from my ISP router, the Google router and Google pods. Then I tried connecting my cameras to any of these separate routers on the list by clicking them and then testing the Wi-Fi signal. Low and behold when the Wi-Fi test says “success”, you will see the camera show up in the box of registered cameras. By going through all my Wi-Fi signals on the list I found all the successful connections and all cameras now work and are stable. I made a list/manual of how to do this which may be helpful but one has to be familiar with the Reolink Client PC software. The iPhone/iPad software also works well.
OPTIMUM SETTINGS FOR COMBI MODEM/ROUTER (ISP ROUTER) AND GOOGLE MESH WIFI USING your iPad/Phone and PC
1. Set Wi-Fi on iPad/iPhone Google App to the single SSID combining Google Mesh WiFi and your ISP modem/router.
2. Test the speed. Mine is 68 Mbps Download and 17 Upload on iPad and even better on PC (=excellent)
3. Test the 2 Google Pods on the Google App for signal strength. Mine are both at maximum strength.
4. Check connected devices on Google App
CONNECTING THE CAMERAS
1. Start up the Reolink Client App. On PC
2. Connect camera with ethernet cable to Google main router box
3. Power up camera
4. A camera picture will appear on PC Reolink Client PC App
5. To ensure camera is registered, open “Device Basic Information” (box with pencil)
6. If the camera has appeared in the list of Devices in the bottom half of the box you are on the right Wi-Fi channel.
7. If not, go to Device Settings, click on Wi-Fi Settings, Scanand a list of SSID names will appear.
8. Go through the list doing the Wi-Fi test on each band signal.
9. If the Wi-Fi test succeeds, check that the camera shows up in the “Device Basic Information” box.
10. Once it is visible there, you have captured that camera.Do this for all cameras.
Good luck
This camera is used on my house and provides an excellent field of view with very clear picture quality. The installation was easy. I plugged it directly into the router first (inside the house) and then connected via the WiFi before mounting it on the wall outside. The hardest part in the process was getting the power cable outside. As recommended by other users I used a junction box to make sure the cables were safe and weather proof. I have the software installed on my phone and PC and both do the job well. I will need to spend more time on finessing the set up of motion detection but overall I am very happy. I also don’t seem to have sound from the built in microphone but that could be how I have set it up. The main thing for me is the pictures!
Easy to set up, a great picture; just over sensitive motion detection, as mentioned by everyone.
Good Camera BUT be aware – if you are hoping to use these cameras with Alexa then think again – the Alexa skill is only available on the US store NOT UK – Reolink Customer services says they are working on it but obviously not quick enough !
Easy to set up quality product and dual band not many brands of WiFi cameras on sale with dual band or 5ghz which my WiFi runs o
I have the 5MP Reolink Dome cameras but was getting annoyed with water on the glass reflecting back so replaced one of them with this. Despite it “only” being 4MP the image quality looks even better somehow. It’s a much newer hardware version so there’s a couple more features for it, but more noticeable is it connects almost instantly on the app (my old ones take a couple of attempts) and with it being a bullet camera the water doesn’t collect on the lens as much. I liked my old camera but I love this one!
Image quality is very good, IR lights are very bright (brighter than the external IR illuminator I ended up fitting for my dome cameras) and the app works well. I wish there was Cloud saving available in the UK but apparently that’s coming.
The cameras are metal so have a really good weight to them and they feel very well made.
Now for the downsides; if you’re going down the WIFI route then you’ll need a good router to get enough signal outside, not an issue for me. Also the cables are quite annoying on Reolink cameras – they seperate into 3 quite large cables with a huge ethernet port on one of them. This makes it very difficult to fit if threading through the wall – the easiest thing is to fit an external box on the wall and route the cables into that, then one power cable going through the wall into the box. Doesn’t look as neat but good luck drilling a hole big enough for that ethernet adapter cable! If only you could add/remove the cables as you need them.
We CCTV could be a little faster at picking up people but it’s okay apart from that
It would be great if we could have sound I have 5 CCTV cameras all Reolink. But no sound . Great CCTV cameras
I had to buy dual-band cameras as my old router was a 2.4ghz which was switched to a SKY Q router and the internet wouldn’t connect up! After finding out what the issue was that cameras can run usually on 2.4ghz with older hubs , some of the SkyQ hubs run at 5.ghz, therefore, I needed dual-band. I wanted these cameras to monitor the front door and where my car is parked. Good solid camera, against my previous one, I wanted the interface which is larger to be on my PC, but also to run onto my phone and tablet.. connected the ethernet into the camera created password on my phone PC software and created account on my phone.. please remember the password you created when you download onto your phone, as this is required if you also want them on your computer. Clarity is good, ease of setting up is pretty straight forward if you take your time and don’t rush. Up to press very happy with the price and quality. Just a shame I had to go to extra expense buying another two cameras just because my router wasn’t compatible with previous cameras bought off amazon which were as equally good but wouldn’t work on wifi with my router.
Really easy to set up. Picture quality excellent and the fact you can zoom in. Only had it a short time but definitely going to buy another for the back.
Really like this camera and having had outside ip cameras for years- I know what I’m talking about. Email alerts are a must and are easy , free and adjustable on the reolink app. Email alerts saved me from a fraudulent car insurance claim and I wouldn’t be without them.
Good product But the plug doesnt fit into an outside socket which considering it is an outside camera doesnt make sense.
Great pic quality easy to set up not sure about the motion sensor as I use it with blue iris but a lot better than 1080p camera I have up on the back of the house
This was so easy to set up on a wireless connection and the picture quality on the highest resolution is superb.
I’m surprised by the negative reviews. Or maybe I’m just lucky with a unit that doesn’t seem to have any of the defects people have complained about.
Set up was quick and easy, very straightforward. The WiFi signal outside my house is rather weak, yet the camera picks it up enough to transmit clear video, so kudos to the external antennas.
Night vision is very bright and clear as you can see from my screenshot (remember to put on IR light in the app settings. The app works very well with a lot of customisation options and notification settings, the tweaks are too numerous to go through, but they are mostly useful and work perfectly. My only niggle is the email notification, I’m getting the app pop-up notifications, but no email alerts, though this may be down to me not putting the right settings in place, we’ll see how that turns out as I continue to familiarise with the app and camera. Also the motion detector is very sensitive, even in medium sensitivity, moths and flying insects are setting it off, but I like that.
Don’t be discouraged, this is the ideal DIY camera set up you need for your home
Arrived today. Very well packed and presented. All looked great upon opening and within minutes up and running with no problems. Android app works very well camera setup was easy and connection to wi-fi. Sd card fitted and formatted no problem. I have other ipcams working but the Riolink software on the PC is tjhe best of the bunch. Very clear ans easy to find everything. Picture quality not quite as good as my H.View cameras but playback etc much easier. Would look to buy again.
Very pleased with purchase and will update when fully installed and been running for a few weeks.
Excellent picture quality. Solid wifi performance. The pixel based motion sensor takes some setting up but it is worth while. the only false triggers for me now are when the infra red lights switch on/off at the beginning and end of dark and Stuart, the adventurous spider dancing in front of the lens. Stuart was removed and insect repellent sprayed around the camera – sorted. Very pleased with this kit, so much so, I have purchased another…………
I previously bought a pair of Reolink 5MP POE cameras and wanted to extend my coverage in places where I couldn’t easily run an ethernet cable, so these wireless cameras seemed a good choice.
Having read other reviews, I knew that they need to be set up with an ethernet cable, so before they went outside they were plugged in and configured. I had previously done a survey of my property with Netgear’s “WiFi Analytics” app, so I knew that both of the sites that I intended to use had signal strengths of around 60 – 70%.
The first camera almost installed itself. The second one was a bit of a pain: the WiFi connexion kept dropping. I tried the aerials in all possible configurations – I even tried using a pair of extra long antennae that I had left over from another project. Eventually I managed a just-about acceptable connexion with the original antennae at ten-past-ten, like the old set-top aerials from VHF TV days (yes, I am that old).
The resolution isn’t quite as good as the POE cameras – but I knew that it wouldn’t be: 4MP is less than 5MP. The camera with the weakest signal seems to have its resolution limited by bandwidth. Despite my app reassuring me that I had good signal strength, both cameras only register one bar. I think that you really do need to have a very strong WiFi signal for these things to work properly.
As with the POE cameras, a trio of lumps dangles on the end of a short cable (cat-5, power, reset switch) and these all need to be tucked away in a waterproof housing (supply your own). Since this is a universal grumble, I would urge the manufacturer to start supplying a suitable box to match the camera.
Unlike the POE cameras, these arrived with PSUs and mains connectors for both UK and Euro plugs, along with a useful length of low-voltage power cord. You will need a long cat-5 cable if they ever lose their settings and need to be reprogrammed: either that or they’ll have to be unscrewed from the wall and brought into your home.
One thing that seems to help the stability of the system is careful zoning out of trees to reduce the number of false alarms. It is well worth spending time with the full user manual (from Reolink’s website) and the detailed configuration settings to optimize your system.
People ask if it’s useful to fit the (optional) memory cards or to buy one of the NVR units that go with these cameras. So far I haven’t. A refurbished PC from eBay (45) and a 3TB drive (40) seems to do the trick. This is hidden away where burglars are unlikely to reach it and is managed over my home network. All it does is to store video recordings from the cameras. The Reolink software creates a new folder every day so I’m not quite sure where the idea of only having a 24-hour record comes from. My set-up seems to work for me.
Apart from the not-particularly-good WiFi reception, the antennae do pose a slight issue: with the camera stalk at ninety degrees in the horizontal plane, it is impossible to have the camera upright because the base of one of the antennae will foul the arm.
Night-vision is not too bad, but it isn’t brilliant either. I have PIR floodlights everywhere and I find it better to turn off the IR and black-and-white: when the flood lights come on there is plenty of illumination for normal “day time” operation.
Another issue is cobwebs. This isn’t Reolink’s fault: we seem to have a lot of spiders around here (good luck to them) and they do like building webs over the front of the camera. I have a feather duster on a long pole but I intend to put some petroleum jelly on the camera stalks: it might deter the spiders and improve waterproofing. I cannot go around dusting the camera fronts when I’m away.
Finally: if Reolink read this, I’d like to see an option to record from *all* cameras when one is triggered. Having very small detection zones on each camera will reduce the number of false alarms but, when motion is detected, it would be handy to be able record what is going on everywhere.
I’m sure that I’ll buy more Reolink cameras in the future to extend my system even further. I would urge potential buyers to understand that they’re not quite fit-and-forget devices.
Took a bit of time to set up and my personal view is that it needs a decent step by step guide to be available on the web
Great support team though
One strange thing, and it is a security concern, you cannot set up with Mac / Apple email. The only option is to open a google or yahoo account. Very odd and inconvenient.
Apple App is very neat, Apple desktop client looks like something from the late 1990’s
The Reolink RLC-410W 4MP is an excellent security camera at a very competitive price. Out of the box the camera feels very well made and ideal for outside mounting with IP66 rating. The camera is easy to install and connect. The initial connection of camera to router being necessary using the supplied Ethernet cable. The Android app and the Reolink Client are both very good with plenty of functions. I particularly liked the monitoring area to create the alerts and the recording, which can be set up very accurately. The picture quality is very good both in daylight and darkness, although we have a street light outside our house and I get a better picture with the infrared lights turned off. I did have a couple of small issues on logging into the Reolink Client and updating the camera firmware, but these were dealt with very quickly and most helpfully via email by Elaine at Reolink Support. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.
Bought this cam for my new snooker room. it’s more than capable on the video front and images are great, movement isnt TV quality so there are some blurring when a ball is moving for example.
Biggest issue is the audio – firstly it’s not in sync with the stream by around 600msec – secondly the audio quality is really poor. the audio is dull and it has automatic gain which means it’s up and down like a fiddlers elbow. it kinda sounds like listening through a sock – dull, muffled. so if you want good audio then this isnt for you.
The software/app sometimes doesn’t connect even when on the same network.
But camera and picture quality is excellent.
Does the job
brought these on recommendation, from a friend, who uses them in America, and works for Microsoft.
brought two, there great,to view your house from any where.
I wish it could record 5 sec before the alarm goes off. It is better to have NVR kit, if you want absolute incident recording.
Delivery good, camera is robust and the wi-fi hasn’t been dropping out (yet), images quite clear. Only bug bear for me is the fact i havnt found how to zoom in on recordings yet which might make the recordings useless to identify anyone while the camera is high under guttering.
But so far so good
Very good. Very happy with it. The picture is good and impressed with the motion alerts as it lets you specify which part of the area covered you would like the motion alert to come from. If you live near a busy road you can exclude that area from a motion alert but it will still record it.
When I bought this camera I Thoght I bought camera like Argus Pro. They are not the same about motion detection, all other then motion detection are owerall very good. There is so many false alarms that I needed to turn off push notification. Reolink app is super I just wondering how is made motion detection to triger so many false alarms. There is alarm when is more sonshine, there is alarm when shadow goes off, there is alarm when raining and there was so many alarms yesterday when started to snow. When you wiew live camera when is snowing there is picture not showin snow but just bright lines.
Finally a camera worth installing. Software, app and web interface easy to use. Image quality is great.
There are so many rubbish IP cameras out there, this is not one of them.
My only comment would camera lens could be a bit wider to cover more area.
I have 2 of these cameras. When they work they are very good. You can view the cameras on your phone, they will email you or send push notifications, for the price they are truly splendid.
However they are a bit flakey. It’s not easy to set them up using just wifi, with a pc or with a phone, in fact on mine it just didn’t work. This means you have to plug an ethernet cable into it and run that into your network/hub and set it up with a pc. Not too much of a problem, except… Periodically my cameras will randomly simply forget their wifi settings. This necessitates running an ethernet cable out to them…bearing in mind they are outside, bolted to the wall, out of reach, this meant I had to go and buy a 50metre cable and break out my ladder just to get the camera working again. This has happened twice, with each camera, all on separate occasions.
I don’t think I would buy another Reolink camera.
I feel I should edit this review:
After my initial review the cameras never once again messed me around. They record everything and both the recordings and live view can be monitored from anywhere in the world using a phone or a pc. I bought two more :/
Excellent value for the money, very easy to setup and install and works fantastic without any issues.
We have installed these cameras for our customers and had no problems with this product.
Thanks

What a camera. This was thr 4th one i order from Amazon. I send other ones back because of the quality or just software was so usless and and non of them record 24/7 cus they all get disconnect from wifi or lost the vido.
Long story short dont wast your time buy this one and I’ll promise you won’t be disappointed
