Bought as a Wedding Gift, As a Chef , I know Sabatier brand very well , and wanted to buy something that I know will last a lift time ,This set of has a good selection of knives and will be great for any home cook. Good Knives and Good Price , plus fast delivery. Five Stars.
Bought these in 2016 so had a fair few years use. They gathered dust for a bit because the factory edge isn’t fantastic (and if you think it is then you haven’t used good knives)
But now that I know how to use a sharpening stone the edge is beautiful, this is to be expected and even high end knives are like this, they always need a going over with a stone.
They are not dishwasher safe, mine do have cracked handles but it doesn’t affect the use at all.
The steel is hard, this is both a pro and a con, makes them harder to sharpen but they get much sharper for longer than softer steel. I really don’t know how people are snapping them, either the quality control isn’t great or people are really abusing them because other than the handles cracking the steel itself has been spot on.
Would I buy them again? Probably not, but I wouldn’t buy any set now, I’d much rather build my own set. Would I recommend them? Yes I would but only if the person would commit to not using a dishwasher and learning to sharpen properly with a stone (but that should be anyone who’s looking to spend money on kitchen knives)
Bought these from AMAZON and they arrived a day earlier than expected. They were well packed and the knives were well protected. The wooden knife block is well designed to hold the knives. The knives are of excellent quality and my wife finds them great to use.
We’re good value for money. Lovely to hold and very sharp.

Still impressed, They are just the correct weight and are such quality, no bending or splitting of handles here.
My set has been going strong for +30 years, and have been dishwashered daily ( although have just noted that this is advised against for keep sharpness, but we just regularly use a steel to sharpen as required. My daughter is very impressed at this block , with the selection of Knives and the block maintains safety and stops them from rubbing together in the drawe

Fantastic, I can’t believe we put up with cheap knives for so long. Cooking is much faster and the food is cut in a much nicer way, doesn’t look like it but it makes eating it nicer too!

This is the third set I have bought for friends, the only knives to have!!
When knives arrived as soon as I pulled them out of the box you could just tell they were of good quality. I was not to be disappointed. Very well made, comfortable to use, great flexibility and look like they are built to last. Would definitely recommend these to anyone.

A good set of knives is a bit of an investment. These cost about 100 so not cheap but not the most expensive. They have been really good so far and seem to be staying sharp. We hand wash these knives. Have decided not to put them in the dishwasher and I would recommend you do the same. Pleased with this purchase.
As they say you pay for what you get. The quality is good had the Richardson Carvery set a few year so new the quality. Delivery from supplier was quick. Have seen a few comments about handles cracking but have not had that problem as preferred to wash by hand

Bought this set in 2013 and so I think I can vouch for their durability. Excellent product and a variety of knife sizes depending on what you’re cutting or carving. Bought this and soon after a good quality knife sharpener and I very much doubt if I’ll ever replace either. Highly recommended especially for the money.
sharp, easy to use, stay sharp, and easy to sharpen. Love them, only these are the thin ones that are slightly bendy, sprung steel stays sharper longer and is lighter, excellent product, which is why it is expensive

I have read other reviews that say not to put these in the dishwasher as it damages the handle. I wouldn’t put a quality knife in the dishwasher anyway so no problem to me.

These have been great knives for the two years I have had them apart from one of the knives suffering from a cracked handle at the central rivet.
I have always washed, dried and put away these knives straight away after using as don’t even own a dishwasher. I have never dropped them and don’t know how long the crack has been there as I only checked them after reading of others having cracked.
It’s a great shame as for the money they are great knives or would be if the handles did not crack.

very high quality and nice looking set. The only reason that it gets 4 and not 5 is that there are no scissors available in the set.

Ignore the reveiws that state “they went a bit rubbish after I put them in the dishwasher”….DON’T PUT THEM IN THE BLOODY DISHWASHER THEN! Look after them, wash them lovingly, respect them, appreciate their quality….but don’t cuddle them though (wayyyyy too sharp!)

Not had a good set of knives at home before, but definitely notice the difference with these. Only had them a few weeks and have noticed how much easier it is to cut things and they stay sharp a lot better than previous knives. Not used the full set yet, but very happy with the knives I have used.

Knives are superbly well made, not a blemish on them. They have a real solid quality feel to them, easy to use, well balanced and are razor sharp. Make my old knives look cheap. Don’t hesitate, these are well worth the money.

Brilliant set of knives for cooking. I have bought knife blocks before and found the knives to be quite flimsy and go dull quite quickly. These knives are sturdy and sharp and have remained so for the 5 months I have had them. I have had family comment on how good they are too!

I was very pleased to buy this set as a gift for professional use. A very good value set which will last many years if my own experience with Sabatier is matched. This is a very good price for high grade tools. Personally a roll would have been better but in a domestic situation the block is a bonus a pro wouldn’t need.

his proves you get what you pay for, superb set of knifes, would recommend to any one in the market for quality carving knifes.
These are much better than I was expecting. They are not Global or Wusthof quality but they don’t pretend to be and are more than adequate for the job. They are an absolute bargain at this price. I used some similar Richardson models many years ago but these are much better quality and with proper care will outlast their 30 year guarantee.
They are very sharp and usable straight out of the box. I’m a bit particular/ fussy about knives and only took a few minutes to give the complete set a professional razor edge.
The block is OK and is nice and compact.
Overall these are very good knives and for less than 10 per item you can’t go wrong.

One small issue was that one of the knives was only secured onto the cardboard with no protection on the blade like the rest that were boxed, which we didn’t realise until putting our hand into the box and getting a very deep cut to the finger on the knuckle, ouch. Be very careful when taking them out of the box.

Great knife set, family was very pleased, however they really didn’t come sharpened that well.
Got these for my mum for her birthday & must say she loves them.. Sharp & feel premium… Happy with my buy.
We’ve had these for a few months now, they are very good to use. There is fantastic grip from the handle and can be controlled easily enough. They are very sharp, do not need a lot of strength to use and the quality in the manufacture is there. The block looks great and they all slide in and out with ease.
The knives are sharp, for example, they will make light work of carving dense meats like beef or chopping veg. All sabatier knives should be sharpened before use for anything! There are plenty of videos online on how to this, a quick 30 seconds and they are good to go again.
These knives must not be put into the dishwasher either. A quick clean with a bit of soapy water and a kitchen towel to dry, they are good to go. No rust, no dulling of the steel.
In all, for the money, these are great knives if used correctly.
Bought these as a gift for my avid chef-wannabe mother, came out of the box very very sharp and has a tool for just about every cutting job in the kitchen. They seem like very good quality knives and the steel used seems to be strong, slightly flexible on longer blades and tales and holds an edge well. Great starter into the world of pro chef knives or just an awesome set of slicers!
I got these for my parents to replace a very old set and I am told they are very happy with these.
