Exactly what our grandaughter wanted. She hasnt stopped playing it since christmas! Absolutely loves it. Best thing is the parents can suggest plugging in the headphones if it all gets too much!
Got this for Xmas present to myself, great sound and loud , the free 3 months lessons was a nightmare to access but it basic learning app, I know get tutorials from you tube.
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas, it’s a bit smaller than I thought it would be. But, actually it made it easier to store in the house as I didn’t buy a keyboard stand.
The sound quality is pretty decent and there are lots of different settings. It does state on the description and on the actual keyboard that there is a free YouTube video to teach you how to play it however, she couldn’t find the code to put it in so couldn’t do it. She did find some other free YouTube videos to watch, to teach her how to play.
The keyboard itself is pretty light and easy to store: to summarise I would say this is a great keyboard for beginners and was well worth the price as is was on offer for 25.
I had this sitting in my basket for a little while so that I could suss out whether my daughter really wanted a keyboard or I’d it was just a fad. However the prices dropped by half so I just bought it.
Absolute steal and my 6 year old loves it!
So I got this for my 8 year old as she wants to learn to play the piano/keyboard. The item itself is good, good sound just the right size and the stickers for the keys are really helpful. However I don’t understand why a product sold by amazon, that has an amazon benefit(the 3 month skoove lessons and also the joy tunes piano course) isn’t compatible with an amazon tablet . The apps for these are ipad and Windows based. My daughter has a kids fire tablet and we cannot get the apps to actually use the free piano courses that are included with the price. Might not be an issue for most people if they have a windows tablet etc just seeks daft to sell something your own devices aren’t compatible with. We are having to use my phone for her to be able to use the course but the skoove one is a nightmare to try and get the link you get sent says its not available anymore and there doesn’t seem to be anyway of signing up and using the promo code. Bit disappointing could have got a cheaper version but bought this thinking there is two courses for her to do to learn.
For the price this is excellent, you can’t go wrong, for beginners or intermediate. The piano sounds brilliant and there’s many other sounds that also sound good, plus the ability to mix 2 sounds together.
Over half a year of reliable if imperfect sound …a great start to the keyboard.
Well made …the charger is a little fragile at its connection cable.
The variation of options is only possible at this price due to this being the age of the semiconductor.
A good product… effectively delivered.
Our thanks.
I have been playing keyboards for decades, and have quite a few classic ’80s and ’90s keyboards. I bought this one for a relative who wants to start learning piano.
Listen, for under 40 (which is what I paid), you get what you pay for. The sounds are not great, and most instruments sound nothing like the real life versions. Is that important? Probably not.
Although advertised as “full size” keys, they are slightly smaller than full size. That might be important when starting to learn on a keyboard like this, because when you move to a proper piano or keyboard, you might find it a bit strange.
But, this keyboard will certainly be ok if you are just wanting something very basic to start out on. I can’t really come down too hard on it for the simple fact that is so cheap.
If you don’t mind your piano sounding nothing like an actual piano and just want something to mess around on, then go for it! Music should be about having fun. This keyboard will get you started on your road to enjoying playing, and you can certainly have plenty of fun with it! Good luck on your journey! 🙂
I have to say for the price point and features and practicability this really is an excellent product. I got it as I was travelling and wanted to continue my piano practice. It works with simply piano app which is the most important and you can even use batteries. My only grip is the grand piano sound is AWFUL when compared to a usual piano. Oddly enough all the other sounds are quite good. I done practice using the harp which actually sounds like a harp. I would still highly recommend it for beginners or even those needing to practice on the move.
I am very happy with purchase. I’m a graduated musician and had an instrument most of my life so I know about the quality, and for such a price this keyboard is fantastic! Bough it because I wanted to get back playing and very happy I chose to buy from this seller, thank you!
Wife and kids now love the keyboard, bought it to get away from just watching videos on screens passively. We t was a little bit bigger then I expected but the trade off between the better keyboard vs the fewer keys model was defiantly worth it. Great for total beginners just getting used to taping keys trying to get the order right. Having the stickers was such a vital thing in the box it’s huge help to total novices know where the keys are and what the notes look like.
Came with the right uk power adaptor as expected.
The only negative so far is the default volume at power on is full and always needs volume turning down before doing anything else.
The simplypiano off doesn’t seem to do a great deal it seems to be very little off. But it is one of the best apps wife loves it so far and it practicing an hour a day so total winner.
Great purchase for total novices but you do need some dedicated space large enough to place it properly, just measure before ordering. We haven’t even looked at the options just leaning the first basics still a few weeks in.
All the keys work which seems to be a good start based on some of the other reviews I’ve seen. The stickers that come with it were really handy when you’re starting from scratch, but the absolute winner is the app. I guess its not technically associated with them but they have partnered to provide the app for free and its amazing. If you are starting from nothing I’d fully recommend getting this as the keyboard is good enough to start learning on (you can always upgrade if you get good/stick with it) and the app teaches you to read sheet music, I never dreamed of being able to do that. I thought I’d just play about memorize a couple of songs but never actually be able to play from a sheet. The app sets a really good pace introducing new notes and both hands, moving your hands and chords etc. It listens to you play so it knows when you’ve got it right. So perfect for beginner and after just 4 days I’ve already achieved so much more than I thought or to be honest even intended to do. So for that purpose its fantastic. However, if you are not buying as a beginner I’d probably suggest that the quality of this reflects the price. Its inexpensive and feels very plasticy.
Not sound like real piano but the price is ok for a keyboard. Nice overall.
We are going to invest in a piano in the next few years but in order to be able to play it I needed to start somewhere and this is an excellent first keyboard.
The sound quality is excellent and although I am learning using the basic Grand Piano sound file it works extremely well. I bought a sustain pedal for it, but there isn’t actually a socket for it on this basic level unit, so I wouldn’t recommend that.
Other than my own mistake, the keyboard itself works extremely well and I would recommend it highly.
Great basic keyboard- came with a stand and key stickers to help you read music. The stand is great and can be removed. Headphone jack works well, range of volumes and different sounds such as organ or flute. You can also record yourself playing but this feature didn’t work for me as when i hit record, the keys wouldn’t produce any noise but this may just be a fault with mine. One bad thing is that the actual sound produced was a bit off and not much like a piano it was quite twangy but it’s not too bad, your piano pieces just won’t sound as good as they would on an actual piano, however it’s still okay for learners. Overall I would say this is great value and if you are looking for a keyboard, this is a bargain and will last you a long time. 9/10. Definitely buy this everyone.
There were quite a few negative reviews on the rockjam 54 key keyboard. Was a bit apprehensive about buying it, but got to say I’m pleasantly surprised, i bought it to learn to play keyboard, this is an excellent piece of kit. Ok it’s not the rolls Royce of keyboards, but your not paying rolls Royce prices. It has plenty of tones etc to play around with. The sound quality is good. Keys have a good feel and it comes with 30 days premium on simply piano and 3 months on skoove. More than enough to get you started and learning to play and read music. Can start straight away as soon as it’s out of the box and plugged in. Glad I wasn’t put off by other reviews otherwise I would have paid a lot more and been out of pocket for no reason at all. Very pleased with purchase.
Es increible para ser mi primer piano! Me ha encantado y el embalado con sus protecciones son fantasticas! 100%
Absolutely amazing! I have always wanted to give piano a go but never got round to it. So I figured I would opt for something cheaper and see if I enjoy it. Anyway I have been playing for a short while now and absolutely love it! I have been using the apps Simply Piano, yousician and flowkey to learn. From experience I can tell you my favourite is simply piano and flowkey.
set the piano up (simply plug it in) and you’re good to go! Get the app installed and within 10minutes you have already been taught notes, chords etc as well as 1-2 pieces!
Absolutely brilliant for the price! Sound quality is much better than I anticipated and very loud if turned up to full too. I usually have it on half way and find that to be loud enough. The display is excellent and the different options are fabulous too!
Would 100% recommend to anyone who is looking to start a musical pathway with a piano! By no means is it as good as the higher end pianos out there but for beginners and those wanting to learn it is absolutely fantastic.
This is really good good for the beginners, I got it for my daughter she loved it she plays most of the time ,sound quality is good but volume control is not so good.
The keyboard looks better than I expected for the price, however, I can’t say whether it works or not, as I did not receive a power supply with it as advertised. I contacted Amazon customer services and they offered me a partial refund, which I accepted, so I will put this towards sourcing a power supply for the keyboard myself.
Update 8th June: bought myself a power supply lead from a local store, and the keyboard works fine, so I’m changing my original 3 star review to 4 stars. Would have been 5 stars if I had received the original power supply with the keyboard.
The price is great and it’s a good keyboard for beginners. However, long term, if you want to continue with piano you will feel limited with this one. The key sounds aren’t the best, also my keyboard developed a fault. Not the end of the world as it was in warranty and customer services did a great job supporting.
I have never played a keyboard before, so I sent for the RockJam 61 note keyboard. One week later I sent it back to swap for the 88 note keyboard. Two weeks later I do not regret it. I cannot compare it to other pianos or electric piano’s, but to date I have found it very easy to use. Subscription to Skoove Piano and Joy Tunes is an added bonus as they both help beginners to learn. I would highly recommend this piano
This is excellent value for money if you need to get going with learning the ‘piano’. Lots of features, some unnecessary in my opinion for a beginner, but the metronome and rhythm are essential. I can see how the sound could be improved, the grand piano sound though is not bad for the price tag. You can pay many thousands for something that has all the sound and feel of an acoustic piano. I use the headphone facility using a sender to transmit to my Bluetooth headphones. (Avantree products to achieve low latency). The manual is only just good enough, it doesn’t explain why and how you would need certain facilities, like microphone socket, mixing and the teach facility. Some of this up on YouTube, but not everything. Still it has enabled me to make satisfying progress in starting to learn the piano. PS. I bought a stand separately.
very nice piano over a month now. I think is very good!
Brilliant starter keyboard. Comes with a free month of an app to learn how to play, which is great. The sound quality is not great but does the job for beginners just starting out. The size is good and keys have nice movement.
Really impressed with this for the price!
The sound quality is as good as you’d want it as a beginner. It’s not touch sensitive (the harder you press the louder the note) but that’s to be expected with anything on the cheaper end.
It comes with stickers for the keys as well as a long sticker you can put across the top that tells you which percussive instrument each key plays – if on that setting. Though they don’t seem to be too durable, after just an hour of playing the print is starting to rub off.
I’m happy that the keys are solid blocks opposed to the flat ones as they give a better feel and just look better as a whole. Free month of SimplyPiano is also handy, found it so easy to remember sheet music and get used to 2 hand playing again super quickly.
It’s perfect for a beginner and previous average players like myself hoping to pick the hobby back up.
Cuando lo compr, le varias opiniones negativas, ni caso, es lo q es y tiene el precio q tiene, no se pueden pedir milagros, pero para empezar, tienes d sobras… Salud!
I’ve always wanted to learn how to play an instrument and I’ve always loved the sound of piano but didn’t think I was capable to make such beautiful sounds. But thought hey, since we are in lock down, and I’ve got nothing else to do, I might as well learn a skill. Then at least when someone asks, hey what did you get up to when the world was ending? I can say “Other than watching Netflix, I actually learned to play an instrument and I’m pretty good at it” (I’m working on the last part but they don’t need to know that). I wish I got it earlier, would’ve helped alot with my depression but shoulda, woulda, coulda ey. Anyway….
Set up:
I bought it with a stand, and the piano is pretty easy to set up. Theres safety hooks to attatch to the piano, just in case you get a little aggresive with the piano keys I assume.
Learning:
I downloaded the simply piano app on my iphone, which is super easy to set up an account and when you buy this piano since its partenered with SimplyPiano, you get the whole starter course free full of lessons. I just place my phone on the reading thing and play along. And oh boy, there are so many lessons. I’ve actually learnt alot, and I’m already reading sheets and playing along with it being just 1 week. So the app is super great, and thank god for it because I don’t think I wouldve been able to teach myself, where would I even start. I think using the internet for tips and such, is helpful but trying to learn from it as a beginner. nope.
Worth the price?
yes. You learn a whole new skill, without ever leaving your damn home. just perfect for lockdown.
I was thinking about buying a piano well keyboard for a while. Lemme just tell you, buy it.
Avrei voluto qualche funzione in pi e il suono del pianoforte migliori inoltre i bassi non si possono regolare in modo soddisfacente e ho qualche problema nel modificare le funzioni speciali. Come tastiera studio e per i principianti pu andare.
Awesome value for the price. Very good beginners piano all the way up. I’m extremely pleased.
I used to play the keyboard and figure why not buy another one and try again in lockdown. I didn’t want to spend to much on one and this was perfect in price. It’s amazing and also comes with a 3 month trail for simply piano, I love it and it’s such a great value for money. I would recommend this to all beginners
The sound quality and the volume control arent the best but it is great for the price and the volume problem can be fixed with headphones. The sound quality needed a bit of getting used to as it is a bit annyoing at first but i guess for the price it was expected. As a beginner it is perfect because i dont have the money to invest in a very high quality product but i needed something that was good enough to keep me interested in playing. The additional stickers and piano lessons free trial are very useful for beginners.
Comes with headphone port (yay) /charger/option for batteries
Purchased this for my partner who wouldn’t stop saying they wanted to learn the keyboard.
This had good reviews and was cheap so brought this before commiting to a more expensive one if he takes to it.
Really good quality for the price
Came with free lessons on an app that have got him playing small tunes in no time.
Definitely happy and would reccommend 🙂
Bought for 3.5 year old son. He loves it, absolutely. Plays it often.
It’s big and impressive looking. Full size keys are very cheap light plastic but for the price I can’t complain.
Sounds are ok. They use something maybe 4 or 5 samples transposed across a number of keys then the next sample plays for the next certain number of keys. You can hear the difference albeit very slight. Again for the price it sounds good enough.
Now, the presets:
Some of them sound exactly the same. I haven’t tested fully, but it seems each sound is repeated twice under a different name. So there are maybe a third of the apparent 100 sounds. So not great, but some of them are quite nice, some kind of bad. But for a young kid not a big deal.
The demo tunes are quite nice.
Polyphony is only 3 or 4 keys at once. Can’t quite remember which, just enough for simple chords and a melody basically.
One very annoying thing is the volume is full when you switch the keyboard on. This is just weird. And very annoying.
So overall it’s great for a young kid, maybe up to 10 years old or thereabouts. I’m glad I chose it. Could’ve been a lot worse.
Everything is great but as far as it being for beginners may I suggest some guidance for the parent who is unable to read music. I tried to buy a book that has coloured dots that correspond with coloured dots on the keyboard but it is impossible. Most children want to play something straight away when they receive an instrument. My granddaughter of 5 years was no exception but knowing this I searched high and low for some music that had dots. Unable to find anything, I, a non music reader also, make coloured dots that went with the keys. It was very difficult but at least she was able to play the three rhymes I managed to colour dot, along with the keyboard. This in turn has kept her interest, rather than just discarding it because she cant play. It has piqued her interest and I am soon to reveal the lessons that came with the instrument. I also bought a seat and stand to go with the keyboard which I think is a very good price.
Bought as a gift for Christmas, I was shocked at how big this was. My daughter seems very happy with it though, although I was expecting something a little more portable.
Great keyboard for beginners except it states in the description it comes with stickers for the cords which it didn’t so had to buy them separately. Volumes great and can also use headphones.
Great item for price. One star knocked off as two keys stick on occasion but found playing them in a certain way so can live with that. Volume for rhythms doesn’t seem to work properly, but don’t use them that much. Overall, happy with the keyboard.
I bought this to learn a new skill, It is a good keyboard with plenty of features, but, I am returning it for a couple of reasons,
1) Constant clicking when headphones plugged in,
2) Bigger than I thought as I wanted it for my lap, (not a problem really)
3) The mains charger had paint on it, so that could not of been new.
Overall no other complaints and would recommend.
The keyboard is great! The delivery was fast and it work great! If you’re from EU don’t forget, you will get a Uk power plug, but still the costumer servis helped me. So thank you, I love to play the piano!
This was a fabulous Christmas present. Always wanted to learn to play and with lockdown my husband bought me this. Using the free lessons and the note stickers I have already improved to two handed 10 finger playing from no previous experience. Light weight and easy to move around the house. Headphone socket has saved my embarrassment when I hit the wrong note. With all the additional sounds and functions it is excellent for beginners. I would fully recommend.
I bought this for my son for Christmas because he was after one for some time, but loses interest quickly. I read the reviews and also consulted other sites for opinions, which overall were good, so at this price I went for it. To be fair I still wasn’t expecting much for the price, but boy was I wrong. What a great keyboard! My son loves it, I’m not joking when I say he learned two songs the day he got it, having never played any musical instrument prior. He plays it daily and finds it really simple to use. The keys are weighted well, and the quality is above what you would expect for the price. Very pleased, a great buy!
I bought this for my 13yr old who was interested in learning to play the keyboard. The keyboard is brilliant for the cost, there are so many sound options. It is really good for beginners as it come with free online starter lessons, which my son found very easy to follow and has now learnt to play part of the Harry Potter theme tune. The sound quality is rather good for the price, I am really impressed with this item.
Realmente an no lo he probado, es un regalo de Navidad para mis hijos. Lo encend y funciona, no prove todas las opciones que trae, supongo que estarn bien.
Despus de Navidad ar una recea ms detallada.
For a little over 30 (or 25 in the sale) how on earth could I fault this?
Okay the sound is not wonderful (I play it on strings mode because it just sounds better than all of the others) but as a intro keyboard for an adult looking to learn piano, and so testing the water at minimal expense, this is just so obviously right. And from doing so, I’ve discovered that I love it…practicing for hours every day.
The volume is good, the sound is reasonable, the keys a good size and with enough of them to be flexible in choice of music. There’s a load of gadgets on it as well but I cannot be bothered with them; this, for me, is about learning to play music, not to have a bleepy toy.
So if you are an adult considering learning piano, but do not want to lay out a bucket of cash to begin with, I definitely recommend this keyboard. It’s the cheapest life improvement you’ll buy this year.
Well, I bought this on Prime Day and it was really cheap. I’ve fancied buying a keyboard for a while and thought well, for this price, if it’s no good, I can always replace it later.
I was delighted and a little bit shocked to discover that it’s actually really good. The keys are smaller than a piano, but still, for the price, there’s no complaints here. It sounds good, it has loads of different sounds and rhythms, and it does other clever things such as will connect to a device by cable to play music through the built in speakers. You could connect your phone with a cable and play some music on your phone through the speakers on the keyboard and play along with it. You can also apparently connect a microphone to it if singing’s your thing.
Now, what really amused me is that the box states proudly that this keyboard was designed in Britain (but made in China, of course)- BUT a good half of the included demo songs are Chinese folk songs and two very well known Chinese pop songs, including the very catchy or “Little Apple”. Now, I’m not complaining because I really like these Chinese songs and the teaching mode is teaching me to play them. It just amused me that a “British designed” keyboard would be so….. Chinese.
Anyway, I’m delighted with my new keyboard. I would recommend it to all but the most advanced of pianists. As I’m an absolute beginner, it’s perfect for me.
Although first one didn’t work properly Amazon sorted it out quickly and second working fine bought it for when grandchildren come round and they like it volume goes down nicely and the app is good for beginners my 5year old granddaughter was joining in a tune quickly
As a beginner I found this to be a fantastic keyboard and it sits at comfortable dimensions for your fingers (adult female). The volume control is great, it can be played really quite which is great so you don’t disturb others when practicing. I love that it comes with free piano lessons which are so simple and way to follow that I was able to play the tune of ode de joy with in 10 minutes of first turning on the keyboard.
I bought this keyboard for my 6 year old as he started his piano lesson.
The delivery was quick and delivered in a good condition.
The key board is reasonable price for a 6 year old to play and learn .good value for money . He is enjoying .
It’s a right choice for some one who wants to buy a reasonable one now and switch to Branded once reached to a good level of grip of the instrument.
I bought this to use and start learning during the lockdown and I was not disappointed. The stickers with the notes allowed me to play with ease and the settings made learning and practicing even easier.
The only down side was that the lowest volume setting was still pretty loud but you could get used to it.
Pressing the keys felt natural and there was no volume delay. The keyboard itself is a good size to be portable and stored away easily but can attract dust so be careful!
Overall a brilliant produc
We had to return the first one ordered, but the replacement came only 2 days later and there was no hassle returning the other.
Nice sound and ‘voices’ of adequate quality. Easy to power up/setup and it’s working well so far. Got the soft pedal and stand separately.
Solamente he probado las caractersticas bsicas, tocar el piano y me ha parecido muy bie
Bought this for my 13-year-old little sister, who ha son musical experience whatsoever, and she started learning on this by herself! I admit it’s nothing too fancy but she was very happy that she could play songs and replicate music she hears online to some extent. It is perfect for a beginner and not too big in size either, can be stored wherever.
It also has many helpful features like the audio jack (so the whole family isn’t listening in on her practice).
This review is for the:
Rockjam
RockJam RJ361 61 Key Keyboard Piano with Sheet Music Stand Piano Note Sticker Power Supply and Simply Piano Application.
My wonderful daughter gave me an Amazon gift card for fathers day. Knowing I’m extremely difficult to buy for. I decided that having a great deal of time on my hands with Lockdown, I would try and teach myself a new skill. Having had a little experience at School with music lessons, I know I have quite a good ear for music.
However, little did I know that my Father’s day present would be pulled from my very hands by “she who must be obeyed “.
After the initial excitement of getting it, and getting me to play some simple tunes I remembered from school, I came down one morning to find her sat in front of the keyboard, headphones on, and self teaching herself how to play. Initially just following some guidance on YouTube, she was soon playing some easily identifiable tunes. Bank onto Amazon I purchased a number of various piano books for beginners. Also some key stickers to make it easier for her to follow the lessons.
Currently, if you purchase the keyboard on Amazon you get 3 months subscription to Skoove (remember to click to add this (free) to your order.
I can honestly say, it has been a sheer pleasure to watch the smile on her face when she masters another tune. She is currently mastering “bohemian rhapsody”.
I personally believe by Christmas she will be playing like a natural.
Despite this being meant as a Fathers Day gift, seeing the pleasure she gets, is actually a gift in itself.
The keyboard is the 61 key version, has a nice LCD display with numerous features like various other instruments and melodies she can select. I am now continually called into the conservatory and asked if I can recognise the tune she is playing.
An absolute ideal gift for anyone from a child to adult, giving hours of enjoyment. The Rockjam keyboard seems to get the very best reviews, apart from the keyboards that you would need to spend hundreds of pounds to get. At 49.99 this is an excellent keyboard. Especially if you want to see if you enjoy it before purchasing a much more expensive one.
In my opinion it has everything a beginner needs in a keyboard to learn and practice. It would be ideal for, say a child who is taking music lessons at school and needs to practice at home. It has a 3.5 headphones jack allowing you to practice without annoying anyone else.
In summary an Excellent Father’s Day gift .
I hope you found this review useful
I bought this to learn piano during lockdown. The keys are around the same width as piano keys, which was important to me. The sound isn’t bad, the extra things like recording what you play are very limited but that didn’t matter to me. Although it has lots of sound effects it doesn’t have the ones I would like, such as cello. I mainly use it on piano sound. For the price it is a very good product, a total bargain to be able to learn to play so cheaply, and I play almost every day.
I bought this for my 10 year old son and did really want to spend too much as I wasn’t sure how he would get on with it. its been great. Has a smashing sound and not too big. It also comes with free access to learning apps which are also really good. The volume control is really useful. I think its more than a beginners bit of kit and is actually quite sophisticated for the price. Excellent value for money.
Bought this for my elderly Dad who has been shielding from the virus and who was bored during lockdown. The look on his face when he saw this was amazing he was absolutely delighted. He can play really well so the guides were not necessary for him. I would say this is an excellent keyboard for beginners and has great quality sound effects and it’s quite compact so you can take it anywhere. An excellent keyboard suitable for adults and children alike. A great buy. I would definitely recommend.
I am not musically talented but slowly and surely I am going to learn the piano and what better way to use this, sound quality is nice but could always have room for improvement, the piano comes with stickers so that you can make learning even more easy. I reccomend this piano!
I have wanted to try learning how to play a keyboard but was always concerned that I would spend a fortune and then give up. This keyboard offers a great opportunity to give my desire a try without breaking the bank. Worked well straight out of the box. The sound is good and the instrument choice is vast. Key stickers help me no end with remembering were the different notes are. Great to have a headphone socket so that I don’t disturb the house with my poor playing. I was able to play a reasonable version of Ode To Joy in the first hour so it works for me. Overall a great item for 50. Still a lot to learn but I think this keyboard will hold my attention. Its portable and easy to stow away when not in use. I use the recommend Simply Piano app which helps a lot for someone with no musical talent like me. The offer of skoove for 3 moths free is only relevant if you have and apple device. I dont so that was a bit disappointing.
ot the best sounding keyboard out there but good price
I bought this keyboard. Everything is lovely however the sound is a little bit electricy to a standard if that makes sense which is a bit annoying. As well as the promotion message. It says it’s for skoove so I started using skoove at someone else house. And now I get leaflets for simplypiano instead which is a big dissapoitment to me.
Good quality but sounds cheap, but it is cheap so can’t really complain. When you’re learning a song don’t expect it to sound fantastic even if you’re learning the right keys because it has that cheap techno sound to it. But again it is cheap and for beginners it’s not bad at all
Bought this for my son as lockdown present. My son loves it and starting to learn basic piano lesson. Its brilliant more functions and features than he need. Excellent keyboard with clear LCD screen display tone, tempo, digital keyboard. Please keyboard does not include the stand so have to purchase separately which can be found cheaply on amazon also. On the other hand, the music book stand is included. Overall, we love this keyboard and highly recommended.
So far so good.Professional keyboard and good quality, i have only given 4 stars as its just the beginning and have not signes up to classes yet but may give more feedback once this is done. I bought for my 5 year old and I have taught her few songs and she can also grow into it. (Little hands) i wasnt sure on the key size for her but she has leart 3 songs as I am familar with a keyboard myself.
Still working our way around the tones as there is 100 of them but we have time to so that.
Me faltan las piezas que sujetan la tablet y el 5 FA# si le pulsas repetidas veces deja de sona
I was very sceptical about this as not convinced it would be used. I was very wrong, a much loved Christmas present that is still used and enjoyed regularly. It is much bigger than I was expecting (thought it might fit on his desk) sound is good, has an essential headphone socket, came with removable stickers that will peel off easily when he’s more experienced and doesn’t need them. Easy to buy a stand from high street retailer as a standard size, great to see kids enjoying making music and not glued to his xbox or iPad
+ 61 keys is brilliant and isn’t too large. Also doesn’t feel like a toy or a kids keyboard.
+ Lots of functions that work well and add interest
+ Headphones can be plugged (mic and foot pedal can be too)
+ Lots of demo tracks, not the same one over and over!
+ Portable and comes with a good sheet music stand that clips in to the top
– Volume is always on highest when you turn it on. Poor design feature
– Lowest volume is actually quite loud
– The inbuilt ‘teach’ mode isn’t easy to use at all, especially for a beginner. Guide you which notes to play but no guidance on rhythm or speed.
– ‘Free’ app is actually not free. RockJam and Amazon need to highlight this as soon as possible. Played for 20 minutes learning first five notes and then it’s a fully paid subscription to access anything else. All product details above and indeed in packaging are very misleading. Have contacted company themselves to complain. Whilst I’m sure the subscription is worth it (our 20 minutes on app was excellent) it is not what we believed we were purchasing and cannot purchase for our daughter at this time. We would have gone with another keyboard recommendation had we known.
This piano is definitely good for beginners and children. As a skilled piano player I wasn’t really aware of this at the time of ordering so it’s no good to me really. And the ‘classic piano’ sound is not really the sound of a grand piano so I can’t really enjoy playing on it. But like I said, great for beginners and children.
Im a totally begginer with pianos
Good quality of the piano for the price, good size, comfortable to use and able to use multiple keys when pressed at the same time, multiple instruments and options to enchant the little ones.
able to use batteries for short periods its being useful for me , to take the kid far away from mum for a while
Considering the piano as a low end to start with, this is by far the best option i saw in amazon and the product its exactly what i read in other reviews , im very happy with the product and the experience im having with it.
Its important not to compare with anything more than 200gbp,.. but if you dont want to spend anything under that this is by far one of the best options to start with.
The app included is very easy to use and cost only 6pounds a month, its not bad for what you get.
Absolutely love it! Due to the corona lockdown I wanted to learn how to play the piano as it has always been something I’ve wanted to do. I literally can not say anything negative about the keyboard. It comes with key stickers which is so handy when you’re a beginner. It comes with an app for beginners. The sound is perfect(sounds like a piano). It is worth the money(should be more). Just can’t believe how cheap it is for what you get. Highly recommend!!!!!!!
Fast delivery and keyboard boxed up well
Great keyboard for beginners
It would be great if the volume didn’t start at the Max when switched on though! The sound is decent.
Some of the keys aren’t entirely straight though, so a couple catch on the key next to it. Which is unfortunate.
My little girl loves it though!
Bought this for my 8 year old who has started taking piano lessons.
She loves it. The action isn’t exactly like a proper piano but it’s close enough.
Touch sensitive keys are great and she really loves playing it. The sound is good too. There are a few other sounds that she likes messing with but the sound we need the most is of a piano and it does this well.
Overall, great value for money and if you need a beginners piano, this has got to be on your list.
The keyboard is large in size but I believe the actual size of the keys are not full size. Good for smaller learning fingers.
Plenty of sounds and rhythms and the ability to record.
The keyboard is very lightweight and feels cheap. Keys feel a bit flimsy, time will tell.
Mains powered also has a headphone jack that is handy because the speakers on the keyboard don’t sound great. They do go quite loud.
it does lot more than I needed but it was a full size keyboard that fit well in our apartme
Sounds decent and there was no problem setting it up. Plenty of features and ports to plug in accessories.
We bought this for our 11 year old granddaughter ,as Christmas present ,as she is anxious to learn the piano,
When she opened the box on Christmas Day , her eyes nearly popped out of her head
She has been practising on our Yamaha keyboard, and is doing quite well ,so when she asked us could she have a keyboard for Christmas ,we thought why not
I must say that we are very impressed with the Rockjam keyboard, it is very well made, and is as good as our keyboard
Great keyboard got it for my son the take piano lessons he loves i
I would highly recommend this item!!
I bought this keyboard for my daughter ages 8 for Christmas as a keyboard was on her Christmas list, I didn’t realise there were so many to choose from and didn’t know which one was the right one.
I found this one and thought that the reviews were good and it was a reasonable price.
On Christmas morning my daughter was ecstatic, we opened it straight away and of she went playing little tunes she has picked up at school, the sound quality is very good, there are so many tunes on the keyboard, it is a good size for her, in all she is very happy with this keyboard!
I would definitely recommend this keyboard to anyone looking at buying one for an older child or even an adult, I am very pleased with this keyboard and it’s well worth the money!!
Note that I am reviewing the full 61 keyboard on its own without the Alexa package.
Hey everyone, Alex here to review the keyboard. Now I read a lot of comments and thought, oh dear, kids toy… broken sound… broken keys… and I already ordered this so you can imagine what’s on my mind. So, here it goes.
As I’m reviewing the keyboard itself and not the app, that will be on the second paragraph, the keyboard is great! Though I wouldn’t recommend putting the stickers on, I would do a small research on the google or even use the app to train yourself where the keys are… honestly the app helps a lot. The keys itself, doesn’t have the real piano feel, though I have an actual piano in the kitchen, it’s completely different feel, I’d say plastic feel, but it does do the trick… press the key and the sound will come out of the speaker. I tried it with headphones, all good sounds, and I also played with the volume… and well, i got it half way and it’s still nice, not loud and not quiet. There’s some tones as well I played with, all sounds good!
Now the down side is the app, you get a free week trail and then you have to pay so much for a month… yes that is a bummer but for a person that is some what experience with piano… the app is worth it but you must be committed to it, otherwise it’s waste of money, there’s loads of things I learnt from the app, which is good, and you get to maybe play Christmas songs for your family xD.
All in all, the piano is amazing, I feel like the review is based on the cheaper keyboard, and it does look abit toyish, so worth getting the 61 keys, that I do strongly recommend !
Good value as it was the cheapest keyboard I could find but still had all those features that remind me of a year seven music lesson. The sound is very artificial and the keys are very small and plasticy but I expected that. Worked well enough for me to learn enough songs on it to upgrade to a digital piano confident that I could play it. I’d have never learned piano if it weren’t for this as I wouldn’t want to spend lots of money on something before I knew I’d be able to learn to play it. I’ve now given this to my little sister and she loves it because of all the fun features so it’s a great gift for a child too, especially as it is so light and not bulky in a small room. If you’re thinking of learning keyboard/piano but aren’t sure about committing to it or you just want a keyboard for fun, I’d definitely recommend this cheap easy option.
Pros and cons:
Pros
1. It’s super cheap
2. It comes with stickers for the keys
3. It comes with a music stand
3. It has a power adaptor
4. You can play with headphones and not annoy anyone
5. It has a record function
6. It has tones and beats that can be selected
7. It’s lightweight
8. You can plug in a microphone or MP3 player
9. The keys are say to depress
10. It’s perfect for a beginner to play around on.
11. Super loud speakers
12. For kids just starting or for mucking about on its brilliant
13. The perfect price – if you decide you don’t want to play piano – 40 is not a great loss.
Cons :
1. The build quality is garbage (but for the price it’s fair enough)
2. It’s not full size keys (they are pretty narrow)
3. The app is very good but you only get 1 month free – then it’s 85 a year
4. It’s got a horrible lag between selecting a tone and it actually changing
5. The keys aren’t truly silent when pressed, so it’s not noise free with headphones on
6. All the tones are terrible and nearly all of them sound the same
7. The free key stickers are not very good (but better than nothing)
8. When used with batteries they run out in hours so it’s not good value when using batteries
9. The power cable is very, very, very short! You can’t sit far from a wall socket
10. The volume controls are handy but the lowest setting is pretty loud so it’s hard on the ears
My wife likes it. She is taking piano lessons and an 88 key piano is what she needed, We already had a keyboard stand.
Bought this piano for the other half as she was interested in trying to learn. The piano has done it’s job, she’s now enthusiastically playing away every day, but she was disappointed with the quality after only the first day and so was I.
First off, the good. It’s loud! Plenty of volume for the home user and quiet enough too for night playing, if you don’t want to plug in some headphones. The keys also have a really nice feel to them, with a good amount of resistance and a soft end-of-travel which feels more akin to a real piano than plastic keys.
The range of voices are good too, plenty to choose from, though I couldn’t find an organ sound which makes playing some certain 60’s songs a little harder. Given organ is quite commonly found on keyboards as well I was surprised not to find it. The piano voice itself isn’t going to blow your socks off. It’s not bad, I’ve heard worse, but you know you’re playing a keyboard.
The buttons on the keyboard all have a nice feel to them as well, and the screen is sharp and responsive. The readout of the screen along with the provided key stickers make this great for learning how to play a piano.
However, where it falls short is 3 main points.
First of all, the tone length is quite awkward. It’s ok for most playing, but anything which requires a little sustain isn’t possible as the notes finish too quickly. There is a sustain option on the keyboard but this throws things to the other end of the spectrum, where unless you were playing a really slow soppy tune it’s just too long. If an option to adjust the length of the sustain was possible, or possibly a chorus/reverb option was available instead, that would make this piano substantially more playable.
Another issue I have is there’s a fairly loud click that occurs. If you imagine the click typically heard at the end of a RAW recording, on your phone or something, this is the kind of click I refer to. This click occurs both at the start and end of each note played as well as, for some reason, at regular ~2 second intervals whether playing or not. It becomes very evident when you’re sitting looking up sheet music or something, not playing the keyboard, and there’s just this click every 2 seconds. Very distracting. I haven’t fully tested, but the click volume also appears unaffected by the master volume. Changing any of the tempo options also does not change the frequency of the click.
My final bad point is the keyboard has a tendency to… glitch is the only way I can explain it. At random times, random keys will start producing a harsh buzzing sound when played. The buzzing sound gradually increases in volume, and gradually extends to more keys until the keyboard is powered off and on again. I can imagine if this happened in the middle of a 20 minute piece it would be very frustrating. This glitch doesn’t occur all the time, but when my other half has been playing all day she experiences it a good few times in that day.
Overall, this piano is cheap and marketed at beginners, and for that purpose it just about manages. If you’re a proficient player, this piano is definitely not for you. Likewise, if you’re very picky with your audio, this piano will likely frustrate you so maybe look elsewhere. This piano is definitely for novices who want to learn and I have rated it as such. It’s unfortunate that the 3 issues noted above lose it 1 star even from this simple purpose.
Fantastic starter keyboard for my 11 year old. Some good functions on it.
Yes it is lighter than my Yamaha one and is mainly plastic and there is a little ‘clink’ of the keys if pressed too hard BUT for the price it is amazing. If I had to find fault it would be that it could do with a longer power lead but for the price it’s amazing. Added bonus of the note stickers for the keys and an online tuition app to reach them the basics.
Within a week she learnt my heart will go on using the inbuilt LED and pre programmed song.
I’m brand new to learning the piano, and wanted to make sure I ticket a lot of boxes with my first keyboard. This keyboard ticks a lot of boxes in terms of touch sensitive keys, semi-weighted keys, full size 88 keys and a pedal adapter. It does, however sacrifice on quality as you might expect. the keys aren’t super smooth and feels like they’ve just got springs in them for the semi-weighted. The problem is you wont find all this for the same price elsewhere, so for a beginner, it’s good. But if you’re looking to get more serious I would’nt really recomment this piano. You have got to know what you’re buying it for I guess. For me, an absolute beginner trying my hand at playing, it’s fine for.
I bought this keyboard for my daughter to start her piano lessons. She absolutely LOVE IT! Different instruments to choose from, great sound quality, the size is amazing.
Her favourite feature is being able to record whilst she plays. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a keyboard!
OK so I’m 27.. And I’m going through a phase of wanting to learn piano/ keyboard OK 😀
Saw this cheap and cheerful keyboard on amazon, watched a few videos on YouTube first to see what it was like and read reviews on amazon so I went ahead and clicked buy now! I also had a voucher sooo I had nothing to lose ha.
I ordered at about 11pm and the keyboard arrived next day! Love Optimus prime.. I mean amazon prime!
OK jokes aside… Yeah its a little a cheap and nasty, but it’s 40 people, if you want better than you’ll have to pay alot more, but as I am a complete beginner with no experience or know how to read music, this was a good buy for me until I decide I want to upgrade to a better one? Maybe.
You can download a free app called Simply Piano and is perfect for beginners! It even listens to you playing to make sure you are playing the correct notes! HOW COOL IS THAT!.
Anyway after 2 days playing this thing and already learnt the basics keys/notes to play with my right hand I also now how to play about 3 songs already!
I love it!
So much that iv even recorded myself playing it and uploaded it to YouTube!.
It’s a good buy, great for beginners.
Thanks for reading.
Bought this as my daughter’s first keyboard and I’m pretty impressed. It’s a hefty size with nice sized keys even for my sausage fingers. Fairly good build quality. She’s dropped it a couple of times and it’s still working. It came with a UK power cable and a bag full of key stickers and a bookstand which we didn’t find until after we’d already written on the keys. Battery life isn’t great but hey, that’s what the plug’s for right ! Bookstand slides in and out very easily and is very sturdy when fitted. It takes 3.5mm Jack headphones and she just uses the ones from her phone. (walkman sized headphones for those that know). The keys aren’t too clicky clacky when she’s playing with her headphones. The speakers on the keyboard are quite an impressive volume when no headphones are attached. There are more than enough different instruments to try and loads of different beats to play along too. I’d say this is a good buy either for a beginner adult or a child of any age. Pretty impressed for the price
My son decided (at the age of 20) that he wants to learn to play piano. He wanted to try with a keyboard first. He is known for his lack of commitment to hobbies. He loves this keyboard. He’s having great fun. Long may it last!
I bought this because I couldn’t immediately ship my professional Piano from oversees. Very good value for money. For someone such as my 4-year old, this is a perfect first piano. It’s not concert-level clarity or definition, but it has a handful of very useful sounds and functions. The weighted keys are quite nice to get to know how they work in bigger pianos. If you just want to start learning, this is an excellent choice.
I bought this keyboard for my daughter for her 9th birthday as it came with the free months trial of the JoyTunes App. The keyboard comes with the stickers for the keys and works seamlessly with the App and my daughter has already completed stage one of the App. My only issue with this keyboard is that the middle C key has an electronic sound when held down, this has proved a bit off putting for my daughter. Apart from this, and this could just be my keyboard that has this issue, this is a great first keyboard to learn on.
Daughter loves it! It is a basic keyboard but that makes it perfect for a child to learn on. It has a good range of sounds and has stood up to daughter dropping it a few times, as it was obviously in the wrong place! Most importantly the headphone socket works perfectly, so she can plink plonk away and mummy doesn’t get a head! Good value for money as well.
Great little keyboard. My son started learning piano and this is perfect for him to practise at home with. A wide range of different sounds and settings. It also has a book stand which is perfect for my son to practise reading his music. You can also use headphones with this which is useful when you no longer want to hear the same racket as they practise 🙂
Bought for my sons christmas, even though he didn’t ask for one, so wasn’t sure if it would be a hit or not. When he seen it on Christmas day, he was speechless and absolutely loved it!
We bought it with the RockJam KS-001 Keyboard Stand – also from Amazon – and they go well together.
Arrived well packaged in cardboard, but not over packaged, like many products these days. Arrived promptly.
Since setting it up, we have signed up to Simply Piano. We sit the IPad on the music stand which is fixed to the keyboard, and have been going through the courses for 30 – 60 minutes each day. We are now playing with 2 hands and reading the music, albeit we still have a long way to go! Highly recommended app.
With regards to the keyboard itself, I haven’t used all the beats and tempos etc. We have just been sticking to the piano sound. They keys are great as they are deep and really sound like a piano, so its as good as a piano if you don’t have space for a real one!
Great bit of kit and very well priced. Would definitely recommend.
Bought this for my 14 year old son for Christmas……….This keyboard is bigger and better than I expected. It’s kept him off the computer which can only be a good thing. I would definitely consider this great value for money.
Bought this as a birthday present for a ladies 90th birthday as she had always wanted a key board. It was a triumph. Easy to use and simple to set up, with a little help of grandchildren. It has given hours of pleasure, and God willing will for many years to come. Very good price, excellent value for a sophisticated key board.
Teaching my children to play piano is well over due. Only my daughter had any interest, but since buying this RockJam 54 Key Keyboard, both my sons are showing an interest.
The recommended app(s) are very good quality, there is one version for older children and adults and one for younger children. The cost of a year’s subscription is only 30 pounds which I think is more than worth while, especially as the guided lessons have helped all three of my children start reading music straight off.
Sound quality is OK, the headphone port vital and the build quality is reasonable.
If I was rating this keyboard for myself I would moan about the touch sensitivity level, but that would be unfair for a very reasonably priced instrument which is more than adequate for teaching children to play (or continual playing of Let It Go by request)
I would not hesitate to recommend this Keyboard to any new starters or family with children who wish to learn.
Please remember you should have an appropriate stand, as the posture of using a piano is vital to good playing technique and to avoid strain on your lower back.
Bought this for our 11 year old daughter & its brilliant & was about half the price of other similar sized keyboard RockJam 54-Key Portable Digital Piano Keyboard with Music Stand and Interactive LCD Scree
