Love it, easy to use great product
Would definately recommend.
Suction is fantastic. It’s relatively light and easy to set up.
Really impressed with the amount of dust this picks up. Its slightly heavy to manoeuvre so be aware if you struggle with mobility.
I love this vacuum it is absolutely the best vacuum I have ever had!! Thank you Shark!!
So pleased with my new Shark.I love the way it releases the dirt into the bin. No more having to bang the dust out from the cyclone bit in the middle.
Quite heavy to move around when vacuuming, but I guess its because of its formidable suction power. Couldn’t believe the amount of dirt left in my lounge carpet after using this for the first time. My last vacuum was kidding me!!
Easy to lift out of its cradle and use the different attachments for cleaning the car etc, really pleased.
One downside is the dust compartment is quite small so I empty it after each use. Hope this helps someone in their decisio
We’ve been using another brand for a few years and when it broke on us we decided to switch to Shark. Our only regret is that we didn’t switch sooner.
This vacuum cleaner is awesome.
So far we’ve had no issues with tangled hairs around the rollers or clogging of any kind.
The fact that you can take the main unit off and carry it around has made vacuuming the stairs an easy chore. We even decided to buy the car detailing kit which put this vacuum cleaner on a whole new level.
Definitely the best vacuum cleaners out there and I highly recommend.
Bought to replace our old Dyson that recently stopped working. Wasn’t looking for this brand but corded Dyson seem hard to find. So far we’re pleased with this Shark and would happily recommend. It’s easy to manoeuvre, has very strong suction ( which you can dial down), and a handy light to see in corners and crevices. The head is less wide than our old model, meaning it fits into places we previously couldn’t readily reach. Seems effective on hard floors too. After first trying it on the kitchen floor, I swept with a soft broom and didn’t find anything that had been missed.
This hoover does everything it says on the blog. Very pleased with it. The only downside is its quite heavy
Better than expected, brought up a lot of dust despite it being less than a week since I used my last vacuum
It is heavy but cleans the carpets and smooth flooring really well.
Firstly wow this thing is that quiet I actually looked for a boost button !!!!!
Ok so I’ve only had this a day, this will be our main vacuum replacing the Vax Blade 4 (awful machine)
When it arrived I went around all downstairs and vacuumed with the Vax and then proceeded to go over again with the Shark.
After going over again I found the shark removed very close to the same dust again as what was removed by the Vax (good result)
So far this is a great vacuum that quite literally sucks the living daylights out the carpet (it can be turned down if required)
My only gripe is detaching it to do the stairs feels a little cumbersome (you can’t leave vacuum at bottom and use wand as it falls over)
I’ve got a 30 day trial and so far won’t be sending it back.
Seriously this thing is so quiet !!!!
This picture was of one vack how dirty was my carpets
I have had many brands over the years but this was by far the most effective and easy to use. Recommend as first choice.
First shark hoover and won’t be the last. Thought the two precious dysons were good but this is a totally different league. Great to see it on offer as well so saved a few s.
As a long time Dyson fan I would have gone for a new Dyson but wanted a corded and they don’t do them anymore. So after a lot of reading reviews I bought this to see how it compares.
I tested this against my trusty Dyson DC07 by doing half the carpet with the Dyson and half with the Shark, then switching and seeing if either pulled out more dirt (after emptying the bins of course).
Result was neither pulled out more dirt so I would say they both perform equally.
Weight wise the DC07 is heavier to lift but lighter to push !
The Shark is easier to negotiate being steerable
The light on the Shark is certainly useful to see the dirt in the darker places.
The shark gets under furniture better
The Dyson has a slightly wider collector at the front but I cant say a noticed it take longer to cover the same area with the Shark
The Shark is MUCH quieter (it doesn’t scare our cat!)
The Shark cleans hard floors better than the Dyson.
The “lift away” complemented with the extra purchase of the stair turbo tool makes stairs much easier
The cord grip is annoying on the Shark. It doesn’t hold it well and I find myself forever bending to pick the cable from the floor.
Overall I think this is a good replacement for the Dyson and will be keeping it.
Rarely write reviews but had to …… about this ‘hoover’ …….. previously had a Miele Cat and Dog; quite happy with it until it began to fall apart (after much use and abuse for 10 years) was humming and hahing between another Miele and the Shark. My Daughter bought a Shark upright and was singing it’s praises. I have wood flooring, rugs and carpeted stairs also three dogs who seem to moult all year round. There are so many pluses for this Shark, no expensive filters to buy, no expensive bags to buy; so so easy to use I CAN’T BELIEVE IT. The filth that came out of the hall runner was revolting but very very satisfying (there was so much filth had to empty the tank thingy after a couple of passes over said hall runner) This hoover also comes with a 5 year warranty. This is the most perfect hoover in the Universe. Cannot recommend highly enough. Almost forgot; comes with a crevice tool and and a small oval brush attachment. x
cant tell about stairs as I live in a bungalow but outstanding with dog hairs
Good suction and impressive cleaning but slightly heavy to push and a bit awkward to use on stairs
This has to be the best vac I have ever had ( and I have had many ) the suction is amazing so powerful and easily adjusted for different floor coverings. ok so it is a bit on the heavy side and is a corded machine but the performance outweighs all of that, you will be amazed at how much dust etc there is in what you thought was a clean carpet. As a bonus the packaging contained no plastic at all not even the twist ties. Very pleased.
Nice hoover but heavy and the hair wrap doesn’t appear to stop the hair..
love my shark, I don’t have stairs as in a bungalow so the only problem is the length of the lead but its not too much hassle I just unplug and move to another room
Having used a certain other hoover brand for many years I found myself needing a New hoover once mine broke. I looked around and saw shark were heavily recommended so I decided to take the plunge and give them a go.
The first day I used this I couldn’t believe how much suction it had, it has multiple options for different floor types and even has a light on the front so you can see where you are going. At first I thought this was a gimmick but it’s so useful for seeing under cupboards.
It has a modular design so comes apart and goes back together like Lego and emptying it is ridiculously easy. You simply take off the casing with the button and then hold another button and it drops out.
I’ll never go to any other hoover brand again and you get a good free warranty with this product too so you can be rest assured that you’ll be covered for some time.
I love the shark hoovers, they have moors suction then any ither hoover I’ve had, my carpets look like new after I’ve hoovered them
Previously bought Dyson but these do not compare to the Shark in my opinion . Fantastic cleaning power on both carpet and hard floors
I have always been a Dyson fan for over 30 years that is all I had bought. I had heard of the Shark vacuum but though yeah I bet it isnt a patch on the Dyson! I always give something a go at least once, so I bought the cheaper older model to try out.
I am very pleased with the performance of the vacuum, the suction is better than the Dyson! I have only had it a few weeks so will do a follow up in a year. I gave is a 4 star rating on the stair’s as there isn’t a tool for that, you are given a very small tool and that isn’t good enough for me, you need a proper stair tool and there are no options to buy one anywhere.
I have long hair, and a cat that malts all year, this vacuum is extremely good in picking up both with no issues at all. There are 3 brush headings on the vacuum so it deals with carpets of all types, hard floor.
I also use my vacuums on my mattress to keep clean once a month, this also did more than I expected you will be amased at what your mattress holds!!
It is light and very easy to use. The power is very good.
Very good hoover, light easy to manoeuvre through the house.
This vacuum has amazed me. Every other vacuum I’ve had has lost suction after the first few weeks. This vacuum is so powerful and transforms any room we use it in. It’s brilliant. Highly recommend.
A bit heavy to manoeuvre especially for the over 60s
Really good cleaner, quiet, powerful, easy to manover. The break down to wand and hand attachments also works very well. Highly recommended.
Does such a good job, such good value for money.
It’s great for suction and manoeuvre the only thing I’d say is when you take the tank off to do under the furniture it can be a bit heavy otherwise it is grea
Very easy to use light and versatile. Great suction cleans all floors very well
Great easy to assemble, works well suction great, don’t have stairs so can’t comment.
Excellent hoover, wouldn’t have another brand again, quality, quality, quality !
Brilliant hoover, well worth the money, would recommend and definitely purchase agai
Could not believe how much dust and dirt came out of my carpet, I’d vacuumed few days before with my old dyson – since buying, my daughter has bought one
Honestly this is the best vacuum I’ve ever had/used! First time I brought it I had to empty it twice after doing the whole house (small 2 bed). I had a cordless dyson previously and clearly this whole time I’ve never really vacuumed properly, I am amazed (and slightly disgusted at my house!) couldn’t recommend it enough. Suction power is great, I have 2 cats and a dog whose hair gets absolutely everywhere and drives me mad and since having this vacuum I have no issue with the dog hair. It’s a bit heavy but worth it for the auction and I do have thick pile carpets, but the lift away feature is a lift saver for your back! Also amazing for sucking up the dust and cobwebs
I am amazed by this shark. I wish I’d never bought cordless previous to this one! It’s incredible, never been so happy with a Hoover!
Easy set up lightweight best hoover I have does what it say anti hair wrap
Been using Dyson most of my adult life, always swoke by them, but given the problematic nature of Dyson the comapny I decided not to give them any more money and went for this, and honestly never had such a good vacuum in my life. It beats them on suction, easy of use, it has a light on the front that helps highlight what you are vacuuming up. It has various configurations and power settings for carpet and wooden floors. I got this in a sale with 175 so I feel like I got an even better bargain. Won’t ever get a Dyson again and thanks to comapnies like this I’ll never have to.

This thing is no joke, I got it skeptical about the hair suction, but it does what it says it will do… and does an amazing job! I have long thick hair that sheds a lot, it’s always been a pain and slightly horrifying having to sweep it all up into a black little hair ball, or spend up to an hour or so vacuuming it all with my old vacuum. This new one sucks that annoying hair up like it’s nothing.. so thank you a million for saving my time and my back pain lol. It’s not too loud since I can have a shout-less conversation with my partner mid-job. The cable is long but not a problem since I just hold it, plus the detachable parts make niggly areas easier to deal with. Just watch out for thinner loose cables etc cos it’s so powerful it bit off some of plastic coating on mine.. but that’s more on me for not getting it out of the way on time haha. Was just so excited to see it do it’s thing! It’s also a lil heavy at first but my flimsy arms got used to it after a couple more uses, probs the pure joy of being an amazing vacuum masking the pain. But anyway, get this vacuum if your hair is annoying you!
After spending a lot on various hoovers, I’ve finally settled down on shark. Now I can feel clean home.
I would say this is a good vacuum if you’re fairly young, fit , and strong. However, if you’re in your mid 70s, and losing your strength, like I am, it’s too heavy to be practical. Not very maneuverable at all. After several attempts I’ve given up using it as recommended and can only mange it if I have the air lift in one hand and use my other hand to move the now lighter vacuum handle and suction head. Luckily, I have a much lighter, and cheaper Vax which covers most of my needs, but I do use the shark (separated) for the stairs and corners. It’s a bit expensive to just use it for that, don’t you think?
Had a cordless vac for past few years that died. This one was recommended by a friend who has a professional cleaning company – she said it was her favourite model. It does seem really heavy but not to push .. to carry up stairs, but might just be contrast. I thought my carpets were relatively clean my goodness they were FILTHY!! Clearly the cordless vac had not where near the power and brush of this! I also noticed in a high traffic area it has really revived my carpet and lifted the pile. It does come apart for stairs. I’m very very happy with this vacuum, I also had to keep removing my long hair from previous cordless that kept wrapping and jamming it – no such issues with this one.
Super powerful hoover, you need to be fairly strong yourself to use i
An excellent replacement for our old Shark. Excellent suction and the light on the front is so useful for dark corners!
Really impressed with this vacuum. Great for suction and manoeuvre ability. Fairly quiet. Good for stairs. Enough said.
Wouldn’t touch a Dyson again.
Having had Dysons for years , these a breath of fresh air ,very impressed
This cleaner replaced an old Dyson cleaner that had lost it’s suction. The Shark was as different as chalk & cheese. An excellent product and good value.
I use this everyday and it’s the best hoover I’ve ever had! Sanction is so strong and good! Strongly recommend this product!
This cleaner is so powerful and versatile and beats the likes of Dyson hands down. It may be slightly more expensive but the quality more than makes up for that.
This was a present for my daughter who has not stopped singing its praises. She cannot believe the amount of dirt and hairs this has unearthed. Suction power is second to none.
Purchased in September 2021, it’s now November 2021. The hoover itself feels of good quality, has a great design for coming apart and getting used before going back together again. I like the light function on the hoover. Makes it easier to see dirt on the floor. Only issue with the light is I have no idea what to do or how to replace or sort it if it breaks or no longer works. The hoover is a bit inconvenient to use on stairs. When using the hose like any other hoover it wobbles and can fall over which is frustrating. The hoover moves well and isn’t too heavy. Overall so far I’m happy and I’m happy that shark products come with manufacturer warranty
Absolutely love this hoover, very powerful and light, on board tools are great, nice styling
Absolutely great for picking up hair
Great all round cleaner
Great suction
Would highly recommend 5* +++
I’ve heard a lot about Shark and most are favourable. After our last vacuum which was a ‘Vax’ upright it just sounded awful and the roller rattled about. So, as I’ve been winding up the missus about the amount of hair I pick up I went for the Shark. It’s fairly light, had LED lights for dark areas and the detachable hose and storage unit is great for doing the stairs without the need to carry a bulky vacuum up.
Overall been really impressed with this. Suction is great. I’ve seen reviews saying the dust collector is small. Whilst it’s not the largest I’ve seen, it encourages you to empty after the vac of the whole house.
Just astonished really. First time we used this on our rug it picked up way more dirt then was even visible. The dust canister was full of tiny dust bits, hair and the obvious bits that we could see prior. This is great on hard floors and amazing on carpets / rugs, it gets proper deep in there!
It’s very easy to use. It has got a good amount of flexibility to it. It comes with two cleaning tools which are great to whip off and put on the tube to get into the nuts and crannies. It also feature a useful light, helping to see dust and particles when vacuuming under tables / chairs and those that may have otherwise been missed in a dimly lit room.
It has a nice length cable. It’s easy to clip off and on to use as a portable vacuum and as a portable vacuum is light in weight. This is great for households with stairs. It’s made vacuuming our stairs much more of a pleasant experience.
The quality is amazing, as you’d expect. It also is very visually appealing too. We love our Shark vacuum cleaner!
Upright or carry. Your choice, this hoover can be used in upright mode or separated and used with the base/motor separated. The hoover comes in several bits in the box and requires some assembly but that takes less than a few minutes as everything just clicks together easily. The hoover has three settings, hard floor, long pile and short pile. All selectable as is the on off switch on the handle right at your thumb so no need to go reaching for it. When I first switched the hoover on, I ran the hoover over a room that had just been hoovered not an hour before and was surprised by just how much dirt the hoover lifted. Couldn’t believe it actually. Guess the old hoover needs new filters. Anyway the hoover isn’t the lightest hoover I’ve owned or still own but it’s not the heaviest either and is surprisingly easy to manoeuvre. You can feel both the rollers turning as you sweep back and forward and it does a fantastic job of picking up. There are two different rollers on the hoover, a soft solid roller that pulls debris in and directs it towards the main roller, picking up everything even on solid floors so it doesn’t go pinging off the front, cereal, dirt dust hairs all easily swept into the hoover and picked up. A strip of LEDs along the front of the hoover light up the way in front of you which is handy when getting under the sofas and beds. Speaking of getting the hoover under the beds, the motor, dust bin easily lifts off the main arm and the the hoover easily fits under lower furniture like the bed or chair. Can also be used this way when doing the stairs, the bin has a carry handle and can be carried easily while in use. The wand can be used in long or short mode, two tools are also included which can be stored on the hoover. A narrow pole for the crevices and the brush which converts to an upholstery brush. The can be fitted onto both long and short pole of the hoover. It really is very versatile.
When finished the hoover is simple to empty, the bin simply lifts off with the click of a button and can be emptied from both the top and bottom of the bin so nowhere for the dirt to get trapped. Emptying and putting back together takes seconds. There are also two removable and washable filters on the hoover, one needs regular cleaning and the second less frequently, wash in water then leave somewhere warm for 24 hours to dry properly. I’ve been using this hoover for around a week now and so has the other half, we both love the hoover and it’s replaced our other big branded name hoover.
Switched from a Dyson to this and now I’m wondering what my Dyson has actually been doing for the past two years. Absolutely brilliant if you have cats
Love it. Really good suction power and so easy to disconnect and use.
Really good hoover impressed. Easy to use. Easy to move around. Good accessories. Worth every penny.
By far the best cleaner we have ever had. Would highly recommend!
Best hoover I have ever bought very powerful but lightweight at the same time and extremely easy to assemble and use.
Easy to put together and works well. Good suction and breaks apart easily for stairs etc
Superb product of the highest quality and certainly the best cleaner we have ever owned
Bought this as it seemed to have the best reviews for the price (283 including the car kit) plus you could use it as both an upright and a cylinder. It seems to work well as an upright being quite narrow and able to get into tight dark corners plus it has a light. As a cylinder it also works quite well which means you can easily clean the stairs or your car and inaccessible places in the kitchen. It is reasonably powerful but not as good as a Dyson, say. I found the instructions to fit the car kit pretty confusing and rather useless but managed to work it all out using common sense. Overall, fairly satisfied and will have to wait and see how long it lasts before I can really judge how good my purchase turns out.
Heavy but very ‘manly’ in a fairly military wayonce on duty he stands no nonsense and he goes at it like a man on a mission. Any dust and dirt he doesn’t get is because they’ve run off into the road. My carpet looks smug and exhausted, the floorboards look re- stripped and in shock and the stairs look as if they are pursing their lips. The power , nothing missing there, eats cobwebs for breakfast off the ceiling and dog hair off the sofa for elevenses. My cordless Dyson has gone into hiding, requesting a safe house. Sharkie and I are very happy with each other and even my sons were impressed. Especially at the headlights. Easy to empty, never runs out of power as plugged in. Gentle suction for smaller rugs then on to typhoon levels for the rest. He’s also quite a handsome chap and so keen! I love going over and over the same carpet to see if he can get even more dust and debris up. I really do need to get out more.
Well what can I say. I have been a dyson owner for well over 15 years. Never felt brave enough to venture to anything else. Over the years I’ve heard so much great stuff about the shark from people who own them. Well my dyson packed in and I decided to venture to the other side. Well I have been blown away. I’ve not found anything bad to say about it (okay maybe one little thing I’ll mention later) the suction is immense, the diet that came from my rug which I’d have said was clean was incredible. Made me sick. It’s soo easy to use with the lift away action for stairs, cars etc. The lights are great at the front. It’s not heavy to use, the suction on full can mean it feels hard to use on some surfaces, but turning the suction down on the handle eases the suction. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. It was a steal at 199. LOVE IT!!

Better than Dyson or Vax in my experience, small main head but fairly heavy for its size although manoeuvres easily and being smaller can get into tighter spots without moving things if you are doing a ‘quick’ clean, lights at front are very bright, once you lift away for portability it is fairly light and with hose extended has good reach, accessories standard fare but ok. Anti Hair wrap Tec is good although you still get a few on brush roller but it’s easy to remove any that do accumulate. Suction is better than the old Dyson I had (I am not a fan) by far and better than my last machine a Vax which was very good. I’ll be honest and say I bought this because of Anti hair wrap tech and although not 100% affective it is 100% better than others I’ve mentioned. I like it .. a lot ! .
We’ve been due to buy a new hoover for quite some time and now that our daughter is strating to crawl around the house we wanted to make sure the floor is as clean as possible. We always had a cylider vacuum before but it’s not so great in our flat as there is a long stair and split level too. After many days of research we realised that an upright hoover is probably better for our needs and determined to buy this model.
The main reason for this brand was the “lift away” feature although other brands offer this feature as well. We originally wanted to go for the cheaper model – NV601UK – but this one was on such a sale that we couldn’t say no. We don’t have pets but would like a dog in the future so we figured if this is as good a hoover as they claim we may as well invest in the top of the range model and this should be still around when we get the dog. It’s not like you can’t use the pet hair remover tool until, it’s perfectly good for human hair as well as dirt set deep in the carpet.
Assembly was very easy and intuitive. Everything locks in with a satisfying pronounced click so you’re never left wondering if the parts are connected properly. The design is not my favourite I find a Dyson much more elegant. This is not bad either but the shark logo is quite tacky, especially the plastic pretending to be chrome around the branding. Well it’s a hoover and it’s going to spend most if the days in the cupboard and will only be visible when someone is using it so we can live with it. One thing I particularly like is the fact that all the buttons can be used one handed. An example if you want to detach the wand, you press the detach wand button, it’s easy, don’t need two hands. It unlocks the wand that can be taken out one handed, no twisting and pulling.
I was very surprised when I turned it on, it’s so quiet. Our Dyson is of an older one and it’s proper loud compared to this one. It’s probably due to the new(ish) EU regulations that requires all manufacturers to keep the noise levels under 80 decibels. It’s not easy to imagine loudness by decibels (for most of us anyways) so I’m just going to say it again, it’s quiet! All the controls are on the handle -switch between hard floor and carpet and suction power slider – and I find these extremely easy to reach. Suction power slider should be adjusted to lower setting if you have a fluffy thick carpet and higher if you have a coarse carpet. If set correctly you should be able to move the hoover without much effort. One feature that I didn’t see on competing brands is the headlights. I thought these as gimmick at first but they are surprisingly handy actually. They can illuminate under furnitures easily.
I attached a photo because I wanted to show everyone how good this hoover is. Before trying this, I hoovered the living room with the old Dyson. Then immediately I hoover again with this. The result is on the photo. It’s shocking to see how much more dust was in the carpet that the old one couldn’t pick up. I’m not here to shame Dyson, this is a very old hoover compared to a brand new and I’m sure it would have been similar result with any new decent hoover. It just shows that old hoovers don’t necessarily do a good job but we get use the loss of performance over the years.
I found the lift away function as useful as they claim it. One press of a button and you can lift out the pod and carry on with the hoovering. This is extremely useful for hoovering under the bed or hoovering the stairs, ceiling. It basically eleminates the limited mobility problem of upright hoovers. The powered brush bars can be used in the lift away mode as this model has got the more advanced “powered lift away” function that allows this. The duo clean head is brilliant and picks up everything effortlessly. The anti hair wrap technology does its job seemingly, I didn’t find any tangled hair on the brush rollers. It does say in the manual that even you see hair tangled on the roller, ignore it and it will make its ways eventually to the dust collector. Speaking of dust collector it’s rather small, only 0.8 litre capacity so you will need to empty it often, it doesn’t bother me especially because it’s so easy to empty it. The cord is 8 metres long, there are other makes with longer and other makes with shorter lead, this sits right in the middle, I found it adequate. There is no cable retractor, but there are two hooks on the pod to reel the cable on it. The hoover is 6.5 kg total which I find lightweight and the pod itself is even lighter, it’s really no effort to move around the house with it.
The included tools are all good, just the standard stuff, nothing fancy, just what you need to clean the house, car etc.
To sum it up, I’m extremely happy with this purchase. This hoover is not cheap, but you can save over 100 when on sale. It cleans extremely well, it’s lightweight and mobile. It’s got handy accessories and superior duoclean head that really makes a difference when hoovering. I’m sorry if the review got too long but there are so many things to say about and I wanted to cover everything. Highly recommended!
Update after using it for 6 months: I still love the hoover no complaints from me. I don’t know why some reviewers complain about the anti hair tangle function not working, mine works perfectly fine I never had to clean the brush. The only thing I noticed so far is how easily the paint gets scratched off of the head as you push the hoover alongside the skirting board. For me it’s not a big deal, as I mentioned before it’s an item that spends most of the time in the cupboard anyway, but for 300 you’d expect something more durable. It doesn’t hinder the functionality though. Still recommended!
I had a vacuum for 10 years before this one, it was a pretty stable relationship, then, I decided it was time to move on with my life. Let me tell you, it was not an easy decision to make. My old vacuum was reliable and really good… but something was missing, especially when it was about picking up hair from the floor.
This vacuum was pricey but I decided it was time to treat myself. Since this shark arrived I filled so many bags with a lot of dirt that I have never imagined it was accumulated under the carpet, it made me aware that what’s on top of the carpet is not everything.
It is a heavy machine, but it helps the suction power, so I don’t mind. It is really easy to manoeuvre, and also I like that I can keep the extra bits on the main body, so it is easy to interchange tools when I need to.
I have really long hair and 3 cats, a kid, and my house was never this clean, also my hair does not tangle on the cleaning brushes, which makes me think there’s some kind of sorcery going on there, because it was a problem with my old vacuum and I had to stop all the time to clean the brush.
I feel like I spent all this money on something that is helpful and always ready to use.

This vacuum has a versatile design that allows you to transform it from a traditional upright standing vacuum into a more compact size that you can move around with easier, making hard to reach areas areas easier to clean. The particular model I received is the pet variant, which includes a couple of extra attachments that makes pulling up pet hairs from sofas and carpets easier. The vacuum uses a different type of roller style that has a guard built in the stops hairs from tangling too much in the brushes, making them easier to remove if they do get clogged up. On the front of the vacuum are some LED lights that come in very useful when you’re cleaning behind the sofa. Update: For some reason, Amazon deleted my original review, photo’s and video of the product in action.
Thank you for reading my review, if you found it helpful feel free to let me know below.
I am 78 year old woman and assembled the ‘Shark’ myself, with help of explicit instructions and easy ‘click together components. It draws dust and dirt out of my mats and carpets like I have not experienced with any of my previous vacuums, but and more especially how it picks up the thick wads of hair shed by my Newfoundland dog. I have used and burnt out an array of vacuum cleaners over the years, bought specifically to handle that sort of dog hair, but they either got clogged up or I spent ages constantly removing hair from the brush head. This works brilliantly. To date I haven’t used any of the attachments but I have every confidence they will be up to the task.
On the minus side it is heavy to handle and the dust cup only takes a small amount, so needs emptying frequently.
Overall I am happy with it and would recommend.
I’ve 3 cats and a lab (who molts so much you would think he should be bold) and I never knew there was so much hair in the carpet…. until shark arrived.
Great design and well constructed, everything clicks together with a solid click sound, not like the hollow dyson sound.
The lift away function is truly innovative and very intuitive when you use it ( you’ll know what I mean when you come to use it).
Anti hair wrap works but not so great at long hair ie. Hair from hair brushes etc but on pet hair has no issues. The rotating brushes really work the pile In the carpet bring it back to life.
I’ve had it for 3 months now and in some perverse way its gratifying to see how much is captured in the chamber when hovering.
Happy with purchase… even more so when it was on a lightning deal
I have always bought Dyson’s or Hoover vacuums, a few weeks ago I used my son’s Shark after fitting a carpet for him. Was impressed, even although they have the base model, it was great. So, I did a little research after which I purchased the Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner [NZ801UKT] Powered Lift-Away with Anti Hair Wrap Technology, Pet Hair, Navy & Orange model. I have been doing loads of DIY over the past week or so and fitted a couple of carpets. I have even been building flat pack furniture with all it’s polystyrene packaging. We have been sanding, stripping paper, plastering, etc and nothing is too much for it. Easy to use, well built and the suction is fantastic. Either on hard floors or carpet, it works great. It breaks down for the stairs, which is super and the attachments all fit on the unit. We also have a white haired dog and again fantastic. It even comes with a 5 year guarantee when you register on line.
I’ve been so impressed I have sent the details to all my family members, encouraging them to take a look if they are thinking of buying another vacuum.
I would give it 6*s if I could.
TL;DR: if you have fluffy animals/humans, get this Shark.
——————————————————————————————————————-
For the long review:
I was already sold on this, by a good friend, but the Black Friday deal (got it for 200), and the fact that our Dyson has finally had it (it has bi-annual services, as we have five fluffy animals and several fluffy humans in the house) made me wap out the credit card and treat us to a new vaccum. I haven’t noticed any cons, but I do have some niggles- absolutely not deal-breakers, but slight annoyances.
Niggles:
1-I wish it had a retractable cord, but that’s something our last three Dysons (of 4) didn’t have, either, so just a minor thing that would make life easier.
2- The hose clip pops out by itself all the time. This doesn’t affect the machine, but is a bit annoying when the vacuum’s in upright mode and the hose is hanging away from the handle.
3-The attachments are clonky. This niggle is probably just from us being used to Dyson attachments that click on very satisfyingly and with no effort, but I was surprised to find that you have to just jam the attachments onto the nozzle. A bit last century!
4- As others have said, the dust capacity is quite limited, although I think this does the job of protecting the filter, so it’s forgiveable. For those of us with fluffy animals (3 samoyeds and 2 ragdolls) it means that the fluff tumbleweeds on hard floors and the mashed in fluff on stairs results in emptying the dust compartment every 5 minutes, because fluff doesn’t sit flat, so it reaches the top quicker than dust. It’s coat-blowing season, though, so this is the worst it’ll get.
5- when the stair tool is on, the relatively quiet machine suddenly sounds like a chainsaw! This doesn’t bother me, as it’s clearly because it’s a powerful vacuum and quite frankly, my stairs need the torque!
Apart from #1, all of these niggles have a trade-off, because the pros far outweigh them, in my opinion!
1- the attachments are clonky, BUT, the silicone “brush” (more like a floppy squeegee) on the stair attachment leaves the Dyson turbine tool in the dust (pun intended) as you can see in the clip- it literally leaves a rectangle of clean, which makes all the difference in a very dusty old house. Hardly any elbow grease required, the stairs (a favourite spot of the ragdolls) were done in half the time and looked cleaner than the Dyson ever managed. It’s brilliant that this tool is included, rather than having to pay another 40, as you do with Dyson.
2- The separate rollers for each floor make all the difference. We often have to sweep AND hoover our oak floors (again, blame the samoyeds- when the mud dries off them it leaves a film on the floor), and the floors usually look wrecked even after mopping. The silicone roller acts like a buffer, so it gets a LOT more dust up, and you can see where the floor has been waxed. This is evident by the fact that when we then mop the floor, the bucket water stays cleaner much longer, so fewer water changes, and therefore more water saved, which is a lot, as we have to mop our floors 4-8 times a week. On carpet, the Shark picks up all the cat fluff that’s been stomped in, that the Dyson would not get- we sometimes had to use a rubber brush to pull it up before vacuuming! Again, this means half the effort, half the time and twice the result!
3- The white headlights (something I didn’t expect) show up fine white dog hairs I wasn’t seeing with the room lights on (or daylight!) so this also meant I wasn’t missing any fluff that would turn into tumbleweeds. This has definitely meant the rooms have stayed fluff-free for longer than usual.
4- The lift-away feature is a game changer, and definitely makes it easier to get the stairs done quickly (and safely enough for my 10 and 11 year olds to do, once the novelty wears off for me), and to carry around whilst getting cobwebs off the ceiling with the long brush tool.
5- did I mention the stair tool? Ok, I did. Ok, what about all the nice little easy buttons? I’m not sure why the tools don’t click on, as per Niggle #3, but all the other functions/modes are controlled by very ergonomic buttons/switches that are labelled, which helps 38 year old brains, when you’re doing the vacuum cleaner equivalent of going from Windows to Apple.
Probably scraping the barrel on benefits now, but as you’ve probably guessed, James Dyson won’t be getting my money anymore, or that of anyone else who’s brave enough to risk asking me for vacuum recommendations.
I’ve had Dyson, Vax, Henry and various other vacuums but this beats the lot of them put together, I’d just hoovered when the bell rings and its my new Shark being delivered, like a child with a new toy I had to have a go and WOW!!! This hoover is amazing, I did the lounge and the compartment was full of dog fur (Golden Retriever) I was amazed so did the whole house again, the device was easy to put together and looks lovely, the suction is very powerful and although it’s not the lightest of machines it’s not too heavy to manage, it’s got a nice long cord and the lift away and all the tools are easy to use. I’ve also got a mixture of carpets and floor tiles and manages both with ease very quietly.
This hover is great the cord could of been a little longer but having said that we do have big rooms as we live in France. The power suction is great you can turn this down if you wanted this is just a slide switch. The suction can be changed from hard floors to carpet with an accessible switch. I can’t really fault this Hoover. Yes I have knocked it over a couple of times when I have Unclipped the Bin part of the hover so I can clean under the beds. It is easy enough to remove the bin part from the hover as that is removed by a push button so you can carry around to Hoover under things and up in high corners. It’s basically a question of getting used to using a new hover. The dirt bin is a little small but I’m guessing the more you hover your home and empty the bin the less often you will have to empty it when you have got all the dust and dirt up from whatever hover you were using before that wasn’t getting it all. The only real problem I have is it is quite hard to carry the hover box and the wand at the same time to hover in high spaces. Our house does have high ceilings the wand is a little heavy and I feel it needs two hands to hold it but you are carrying the bin part of the hover as well so this can be quite tricky. The wand part could of been made not quite so heavy and a little more in length with the lead being a little longer. But for an average size British home I think I would be great. It has great suction is easy to use and the anti hair wrap is amazing it does work we have always had big problems with continuously trying to cut hair out of the brushes with past hovers even taking the hovers apart to cut masses of hair out. ( I don’t really know where all this long hair comes from I am sure the hair fairy deposits it on the carpet while we are sleeping) This we haven’t had to do at all with this hover so for this it is amazing. So all in all a great hover it certainly hovers deep down is simple to use and looks good too. Yes I would recommend this hover.
I bought this to replace a Vax that I had owned for a number of years. The Vax was a free replacement for a previous Vax that was under warranty but the new model was different and it was a load of rubbish. Anyway I couldn’t cope with it any longer and so I pulled the trigger on this beast. I told myself that if it wasn’t any good I could always send it back.
However literally after the first use I knew it was a keeper and a great machine. here are the pro’s and (a couple) cons:
Pros:
* Suction is really strong, it lifts carpets that are pretty worn and makes them looked refreshed again.
* The design is really good and well thought out.
* Construction feels solid and high quality.
* Has a soft bumper at the front to save your skirting boards.
* The anti hair wrap technology works as advertised. After doing the full house there was no hair around the roller and my wife has long hair plus we have 2 cats, so well impressed there.
* The lift away design along with upholstery attachment makes the stairs much easier and is also great on furniture.
* Can hoover the whole house in a fraction of the time it took with the old one.
* The amount of hair and dust it will pick up from a carpet you thought was clean will surprise you.
Cons:
* Heavier than I was expecting. Feels like it has heft to it, however using the lift away system on stairs etc means a lot of the weight is removed.
* The waste bin really is as tiny as they say. At first glance I was like “oh that’s not bad” and then I realised that it was a very slim section of what looks like a larger waste bin. The rest is dead space filled with some sort of filter cone.
Overall though don’t let these cons put you off. It really is a very good machine and makes cleaning enjoyable as sad as that sounds 🙂
As a fan of Dysons for many years I decided to give a different brand a try as I was needing to do a deep clean on a house I was leaving. Having used the Dyson (12 year old DC07) on all the bedrooms, I decided to go over them again with the Shark. The additional dirt the Shark removed was amazing. I am truly impressed by the cleaning power this machine has.
On the negative side, it is a bit unwieldy and people with weak arms or wrists need to look elsewhere. The detachable wand is a great idea, but it too is a bit heavy for extended use, though very effective. I do however favour the Dyson design over the Shark for reaching up to the ceiling etc for cobweb removal. The lift off feature is good, however the dirt cannister (or Pod as they call it) tends to fall over, so has to be carried. A better idea would be to feature some sling hooks so the pod could be put on a strap and carried over the shoulder rather than set down, only to fall down, or carried around with your spare hand. One other small negative is that the dirt pod is not as big as the Dyson, so you have to empty more frequently.
Overall however, a superb cleaning machine, highly recommended.
Comparisons I have made in this review with the Dyson DC07 I own, are perhaps unfair. The DC07 is 12 years old and has given me sterling service. If comparisons are to be made, then they should be made against the most up to date Dyson, not my one that is coming to the end of its life.
First off, this is a great vacuum, but I was wondering whether to give it 3stars.
The Good:
It’s massively better than my old Dyson DC40, it’s put together much better, has loads more features, you can take it apart into more manageable chunks, has great powerful suction, is a really lightweight and quiet vaccum.
The Bad:
The dust/waste container that you need to empty is really really tiny. Meaning if you have to vacuum a whole house, that has carpets and pets (which this is designed for) prepare yourself for emptying the container 4 or 5 times for a house. Very annoying.
Because the vacuum is so lightweight and has huge suction, it will spend most of its time falling over, especially in the pull away/take away mode where you spit in in two and ‘carry it around with you’. If you don’t carry it around with you, it will spend all of it’s time lying on it’s side being dragged around the house. It’s really annoying that virtually anything you do with the house detached means that the thing just falls over all the time.
If you use the pet turbo bush on your stairs that a carpeted, be prepared for a workout 😀
I’ve been after a new vacuum to replace an old workhorse of a Dyson bought many years ago. I would have kept it, but a phone call to dyson said that they don’t stock the parts anymore and I’d have to source them myself. I weighed up the pros and cons and decided to just buy a new cleaner. I was in no doubt that it was going to be replaced with another Dyson, I wouldn’t entertain any other make much to my partners annoyance. Anyhow, this particular model popped up on a site for 350 and was recommended. I did some research over various review sites and this scored top marks on everything. I was still adamant to buy a new Dyson but found this on offer and thought I’d nothing to lose, if I didn’t like it I’d send it back. I was keen to test it before the better half arrived home so cleaned the house from top to bottom. I was astounded at the amount of dust and hair etc that was picked up. My partner used the Dyson at least once a day, so to find this much dirt was a shock. Two days later we did the same and the dirt it picked up was outstanding. We don’t have a big house and I would consider us a clean family, this seriously questioned that. Under no circumstances was this to be sent back. It comes apart to clean the stairs really easily and emptying the bin is a doddle. The attachments seem a little tight and can be difficult to get off, but are really good. I can’t do anything other than recommend this cleaner. I thought I would never move from Dyson, but clearly there is some absolutely fantastic competition in town.
I purchased this item as my previous hoover was just not up to standard, and this product was available on sale.
I have heard lots of good reviews about Sharks, so decided to give them a try and now I would not be without one!
I have a cat and a dog, and my house has tiles, wooden, carpeted and lino flooring with multiple pieces of vet bed in the lounge.
I have always struggled with hoovering stairs due to chronic health conditions, and living in a 3 storey house, it was impossible to hoover in one go. However, for the first time I was able to. This Shark is super lightweight, and has a ‘lift away’ feature that is perfect for stairs, it also has a specific attachment that is extremely powerful and picks up lots of debris you don’t even see on the stairs!
It glides seemlessly between the different surfaces and picks up all different sizes of debris. I was previously having to empty the hoover at least 5 times per full house hoovering, but now I can do it in less than 2! Perfect! One of the best features is the anti hair! My partner has long hair that gets everywhere, and I was forever pulling it out of the old hoover, but now it’s like he’s not losing any hair at all! Magical!
The downside to the hoover is that is corded, but if I plug in the hallway, I can reach to the back door, and most of the way to the upstairs bedroom. It does also mean there’s no chance of running out of charge. It has a very bright light that helps you see those little bits you may have missed too.
I used to love hoovering, but my last hoover ruined the experience for me, to the point I dreaded it. Nowadays, I’m super happy to get Sharky out as it’s so powerful, lightweight and easy to use so it puts very little stress on my body.
I have recommended this product to people on multiple groups and in lots of conversations as I’m so pleased with how it has improved my life.
Amazing vacuum cleaner. I have 2 cats & the hair this cleaner picks up is amazing. I love the lift away feature & the pet attachment which is great for sofas & the stairs. This vacuum cleaner is an upright & cylinder in one. Love the headlights when cleaning under sofa or beds! I bought on a Black Friday deal. Having had the vacuum for a few weeks now, I would honestly have paid 300 for it because it really is that good. Worth every penny – I feel my house is much cleaner now!!

We always had a Dyson in the past but they all had the same problem. Long hair would get wrapped around the brush preventing it from collecting more hair and dirt. Taking the brush apart and cutting the hair with scissors helped but it’s neither a quick, easy or pleasant task. With time the hair must have got to the parts of the brush you can’t access and it stopped spinning. That was the reason we decided to give this vaccum a go. First of all, its got a good succion but at the same time it’s pretty quiet. The lift away feature is really handy when vaccuming areas which are not as easy to access such as the stairs or the car but what I love about it the most is that we vaccumed the whole house and there’s not a single hair in the brush! It is corded but I suppose it’s a good compromise for not having to deal with horrendous hair wrapped around the brush.
I have been very impressed with this hoover. It has good suction, easy to manoeuvre, simple to use the tools and lift away mechanism and also very easy to empty as the dust bucket opens top and bottom. I was sceptical about the anti-hair wrap, but with two daughters with very long hair I have not had to clean the brushes.
I cannot fault this, it is fantastic. We have two cats and our old hoover was struggling to cope. This machine is brilliant easy to put together and use. The option to lift away is very useful for stairs. My 12 year old son will happily hoover the whole house on a regular basis using this vacuum so I would recommend for that reason alone .
The only slight niggle I have is there is no storage for attachments or if there is we have not discovered it.
This is the best cleaner I have ever bought – and there have been a few! Our dog and two cats can cause domestic havoc and nothing seemed to clear up before we found Sharkie!!!! Wonderful. Our rugs came up like new, the amount of hair and dust was visible and so much – we are ashamed to say that we are quite excited to run the cleaner around. Works just as well on hard floors and finds dirt I didnt know was there.
It is a little heavy so not really suitable for anyone with disabilities but if you want a clean home – this is it!
My wife has wanted one of these for ages!
Its a really solid and we’ll built quality hoover.
You can feel it when you use it that it’s a good piece of kit.
The suction on this particular model is decent, but other models do seem a bit more powerful.
The anti hair wind works perfectly, so the roller doesn’t get clogged up with hair.
Taking the hivver apart to do stairs, sofas etc is a great feature, although the attachment for the stairs is not as good as the Dyson one we currently use.
It keeps a lot cleaner than other Hoover’s we’ve had, as it’s dirt chamber is easy to empty.
We got it on special offer, so just over 200. Well worth the money for that, and definitely better than anything Dyson or Vax can offer.
This is the third vacuum cleaner I have bought in the last year. My problem was always my long hair and my sewing and knitting threads. Even when I bought a vac with no rotating brush the insides got all wrapped with long hair. So far I love this one with no trouble with tangled brushes. The lift off section was easy to use on the stairs. The small head was a bit noisy echoing on the stairs but cleaned really well. I think I have found the one that is right for me and I’m very pleased.
I have long hair and it comes out and ends up on / in the carpet. All previous vacuums (Dyson, Vax, Phillips, to name but three) stopped because hair was twisted round the brush, and it was twisted so tightly it couldn’t be got loose. I ended up using the nozzle tool instead to clean the carpet an inch at a time, and that’s not easy when you have arthritis.
The vacuum I am reviewing arrived on Saturday, and my carpets are immaculate now, in less than 30 minutes.
I can’t praise this vacuum more highly – I just wish I had found it sooner.
The only real problem I have is the upper cord holder. I know it’s not fixed, so the cord can just be slipped off it instead of having to unwind it, but the upper cord holder is very loose and turns without me wanting it to, and then I nearly run the vacuum over the loops of cord that have fallen off. But that’s a minor issue when compared to the great job it does, and I’ll find a fix for it, I’m sure! 🙂
I didn’t give any stars for ‘Stairs’ because I am in a flat and don’t have any – but I’m sure it would excel with those, too.
