I am a big fan of sonoff and these plug tops dont disapoint. I have lots of these in service and never have an issue. They all work from my phone app and have full multi day programs. Great value

These new models (S26R2TPG) do use around 1.1w when off. the old model used around 0.4w when off which is disappointing given they are a newer model and i purchased them to help save money on electric although they will still help reduce electric usage.
I flash these with Tasmota so i can use control them locally. Natively they connect to eWeLink servers so they can be used with IFTTT and voice assistants etc. personally I like to control everything locally so i can control security.
I use these with Node Red and Home Assistant, this allows me to set up schedules and control them with Xiaomi Zigbee buttons and other triggers.
Before you can use it with Alexa or Google home, you need to download a app to setup the plug socket onto your local WiFi router.
Once setup you can then remove the app, or carry on with the app to turn on/off the socket. It also allows a schedule of on times off times.
Sonoff smart plug is easy to install. It’s simple pairing the device with the app. I have installed heater in my outbuilding office with this smart plug and put it on half an hour before I want to use the office. Price is good as well.
I have zero soldering skills but managed to reflash these plugs to Tasmota so they can be used in Home Assistant via MQTT broker. Very good value for money (4-pack even better)
Another quality device from zigbee. These non-zigbee sockets work well and perform nicely under the ewelink environment. Pairing is simple and usually trouble-free. And once setup can work autonomously when the internet goes down if in Lan mode. The plugs are smallish so will fit side by side in a trailing socket, with the button available on the front.
Like many I get Sonoff stuff becuae its good to put custom firmware on. The S26 used to be a little tricky because some of the pads were tiny and difficult to solder to, but this latest version whilst still not that easy, has reasonable sized clearly marked pads on the inside to solder to to flash Tasmota or other firmware on. Damn having to put intrusive apps on your bl**dy phone to make stuff work………..
The plugs work exactly as expected but getting them to initially connect to WiFi can be a pain. Out of the four, I have one which just will not connect, despite following the same instructions as the others. That being said, when they are connected, they work flawlessly with Google and alexa.
I now have 8 of these smart plugs, all converted to Tasmota and hooked up to HomeAssistant.
They work well and have evolved into much sleeker looking units compared to the original.
Still ESP8266 based, so ripe for conversion 🙂
These are the S26-R2 versions which display the 2-1 blue light connectivity light immediately when plugged in. Using the “Quick Pairing” option in the eWeLink, the switches were immediately recognized, and connected.
Remember to set your home router to use a 2.4GHz channel, and then connect to that specific wifi using your mobile phone. Took some faff’ing around in my router settings to split my 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz before I could make it all connect. Now running 2x plugs off a Sonos 3x switch, and loving it.
Installed and up and running in a couple of minutes however I already have many of these devices installed in my house. I know installation of these devices was a bit of a pain a few years ago but assume most of the issues have now been fixed. Good products and reasonably priced and very reliable once up and running.
I couldn’t get these to be detected by the downloaded app using the steps in the instructions. In the end I pressed and held the button for 20s until the blue LED flashed rapidly, then connected the phone to the wifi hotspot the plug created. This allowed the app to connect and configure correctly. Odd that supplied instructions didnt work and peforming a ‘reset’ was the only way to get some life from them.
Once working, connected with Alexa and now scheduled and reliably controlling the Christmas lights. They’re of good build quality and have other Sonoff products that have been running reliably for years so expecting the same from these.
I use sonoff/itead products all the time they are really good when you get used to using the eWeLink app. I have loads of the mini devices fitted inside normal everyday appliances. I like this product because it allows for addhoc smart home functionality without hacking into anything, so they are great for Xmas lights or other seasonal events.
Easy to install with app. Allows default state to be set so can be set to automatically turn on again if power interrupted. Most smart switch do not allow that.
A lot of the reviews are old and not relevant anymore, you can configure these to work in LAN mode and not callback to China. Google AlexxIT/SonoffLAN for further information and see various YouTube config vids.
Work perfectly with Home Assistant and rock solid in operation, highly recommended
Did what I wanted, love telling Alexa to turn my lights on and off when without leaving my chair… so lazy lol. 2nd bonus no dirty fingers prints on switches.
Easy to install if you can set your wi-fi to 2.4. They work well with Google Home and the sonoff eWeLink app. IFTTT needs a paid account after a certain time though. This is the second batch of them I’ve bought.
This product works great an is also great quality. It was very easy to set up and works well with Google Assistant. I highly recommend this product. In general, it is my favourite brand for home automation. Also, it is the only brand I have found that allows you to set the mode it needs to be in after a power outage. That is a great safety feature especially when something like a heater is connected to the smart adapter. You don’t want the heater turning on after a power outage when you are away from home. There are 3 modes to select from (Remain off/Last status/On)
I found the description said flashing green light but if you keep turning it on and off when you’re trying to get to to connect to the wifi it turns to a slight orange colour.
I found this the best colour/way of communicating with my WiFi
When I first ordered this product I wasn’t sure if I had done the right thing. It wasn’t until I had configured them to Alexa and my IPhone did I appreciate how good this product is. I now run the fish tank on them and garden lighting. Eventually it would be great to operate all my lights and other electrical equipment using these
I tried smart switches from a few reputable companies (TP-Link, Wemo) for twice the price but are still the best. They are half the price, very easy to set up, work great and are actually a fair bit smaller than the others I have tried. At first I thought I’ll go with a reputable brand that is known here in UK but unfortunately their products turned out to be cumbersome and complicated to use. Love these!
Excellent piece of equipment. I now have a range of sonoff kit and always found it reliable and easy to set up. Do s whatnot says on the tin and a whole lot more once you get into the ewelink app. The app is regularly updated as is the device firmware , which shows continued support from the supplier. Very good and easy Amazon echo (Alexa) integration.
A good bit of kit that just works. Good value and no hassles
I love iTead products! The Sonoff S26 (UK) is slim and looks smart. It is easy to install and get up and running with the eWelink app, especially on Android 7+ which was an issue with the previous version. My only complaint with the S26 UK version is where the manual on/off button sits! The previous version (S20) was bulky and the switch was a away from the socket. Because of how close it is to the socket on the S26, it’s almost impossible to press the button on the UK version as the power lead generally drop downward on UK plugs, covering the button!
The default app likes to send way more data then needed to outside servers so I flahed mine with tasmota and am using with Home Assistant and it works perfectly
I purchased a pack of 3 but one was faulty. I contacted SONOFF via Amazon and after providing them with a photo of the faulty units behaviour they said they’d sent me a replacement unit (better then sending all 3 back and ordering again). The replacement unit was sent from China but arrived with me by day 5 which I was very impressed with. Customer Service seems to be good but because of the time zones don’t expect an answer straight back, they did get back the next day each time.
Overall, I’m happy with the units and happy with their Customer Service .
I have used sonoff before for switching light’s decided to try their sockets, so easy to set up like all sonoff devices easy to use I will only buy from sonoff now great value also.
I use various sonoff devices with Alexa so I’m used to how to set them up quite quickly. However I would say that these have been the easiest and quickest to set up so far, taking literally a few minutes each following the instructions in the ewelink app. Really good range on these plugs as I use one in my garage to control outside lights and they are always connected and work with no issue. Just a tip for first time users, make sure that location services are on and a 2.4ghz wifi connection is used on your phone before attempting to set up as this should make it plain sailing. Also accept any permissions when you first use the app but you can then go back into the app settings and remove any permissions you aren’t happy with once initially set up. Once you’ve set up smart home in Alexa all is done.
Love the sonoff prouducts, they automate boring everyday stuff! I used these for timer automation with the added bonus I can overide the devices from my phone remotley.
Easy to set up, despite other reviews, instructions aren’t that clear though
Press button 7s press Button again 7s then use compatible mode, add your WiFi code, the rest is straight forward
After my good experience with the Sonoff mini switches, I got these for remote power on/off and scheduled on/off for a few plugged in gadgets/appliances around the house. Really easy to set up – just need to download ewelink software onto your phone/tablet and ensure that you’ve enabled 2.4ghz signal on your wifi.
They seem to work well. The only slightly annoying thing is the audible click sound when they switch off! I’m guessing it’s because there is a physical switch inside the unit.
The only slight complaint that I had was that I had to enter “safe” mode to configure them. This procedure is documented. Once configured I updated to latest firmware via the app. All good and have been working great for weeks now on easy to set up schedules.
I really like these sockets. It’s working well. I have dropped a star off as they are a little pricey. I do have a number of Sonoff devices. They are all working well so far.
I like the s26. Still a little fiddle with the pairing to WiFi. But when it’s done it works a treat. Had issues with the s20. But the s26 no problems at all. Work fantastic with Alexa. Own app got timer function so very pleased with the plug. Good price. Often comes up with a deal for two.
Straight forward to set up and works reliably. I have several of these, linked through the manufacturer’s app to my Alexa system controlling lamps in the house.
These just install really well, the phone app is simple and easy o see up.
The Itead web site is great and gives super examples of ow to make more use of the devices, I used the one on how to set them up with Google home and use voice control.
Brilliant

So, I have had this Sonoff S20 switch for a few months now, and have to say I am entirely satisfied with its operation and functionality. It works perfectly with the eWeLink app, and is able to be fully integrated into Alex and with the eWelink app I can have it turn on at scheduled times, or even when the temperature is above or below a selected value (great for electric heater at night when the central heating is sometimes off). I have several Sonoff devices, and they all work perfectly.
100% satisfied. Works standalone, works with eWelink, works 100% with Alexa.
Works well be aware it only works on wifi 2.4ghz routers. Mine is dual so had to rename the sky 5ghz channel whilst setting up. It all works well as expected.
These smart switches are great. When opened up, there’s 4 contacts inside which can be used for reprogramming the internal microcontroller. This allows you to make the device do EXACTLY what you want it to do. You can remove all reliance on the internet, 3rd party services, and apps; then you can host everything inside your own secure network where it is much safer from hackers and services which snoop on you.
I’ve never used the app which is recommended with this product, nor have I tried any kind of Alexa integration (as I don’t own an Alexa). This review is purely based on the actual hardware you receive in the box.
If you’re good with computers, electronics, and tinkering, then this device is fantastic as it allows you to control mains appliances without touching a single mains wire all without compromising your security and privacy. I’m personally using open-source software called Tasmota on my switches, but you can write your own code for them too which is also fun (it just takes a lot longer to get a fully-working setup).
Some people apparently have issues connecting them to their house router. I have a 2.4/5Ghz router at Home. Only had to disable the 5G during the configuration. Once everything set up, i enabled the 5G again and everything works perfect.
I bought this to be flashed with different firmware to increase its usability. I straight away ran into a problem – the screws to the case are very very tight. I can’t undo them without stripping the screwheads. Hmm.
Otherwise looks a very businesslike piece of kit.
I shall go off in search of a better screwdriver now.
These a well built plugs, as caution when pairing if your Wi-fi signal is greater than 2.4 GHz then you need to turn off booster discs and find location where signal is weaker to pair plugs. Once paired they work perfectly.
I have three of these which I use with Google and the EweLink app. I think they represent good value. They are nicely made, easy to use and seem to be reliable. The blue indicator light is quite bright and can be annoying in a bedroom.
I have 4 of these around the house and they are great. Ignore any negative reviews, there is literally nothing bad to say. Only feedback is that they could be a little less bulky, but this is absolutely no issue for me. A+++
This was the first smart plug I had owned. Pretty straight forward to set up and then control with IFTTT. Connected to a light which comes on based on dusk time and goes off at 10pm. We used dusk for a city in an earlier time zone as the light needed to come on earlier than dusk local time. Android app runs well and very little delay between pressing the button on the screen and the relay operating in the smart plug. Manual switching with the button on the front of the plug is useful as I don’t always have my phone with me and it allows guests to operate the light.
Use the product for controlling a heater, and it works well,,,at the moment !!!
This is my third one of the same type, and the first two have both stoped working .Impossible to “Pair up with my router”
Quite expensive they are,,, but when working they are very good.. Let’s hope this third one is more reliable
I have tried many Smart Plugs, so far these are the only ones I’ve tried that haven’t failed somewhere along the lines. Easy to setup and work straight away!
Work’s great but need to set up further away from router as 2.4g is long range 5g is short range basically set it up in garden close to house but abit further away from router with phone app all should be good
These were bought as a gift (asked for) so I can’t really comment properly on these as I think leaving a plug on all the time just so Alexa can “talk to it” is a bit ridiculous, but my brother in law seems to love them.
A little tricky to set up the first, if you struggle with getting it to connect to the app, try putting your phone into flight mode, I don’t know why but this trick worked. Once setup a really nice way to control appliances and lights remotely.
Had no trouble setting them up initially, and it worked great. But I got a new router from Virgin Media and everything went to hell because it wouldn’t connect to the new network even though I had managed to set it up from AP mode on my phone. Don’t what the final solution was (uninstalled, reinstalled etc), but I ended up having to create an adhoc network from one phone (had to have mobile internet), connect with another phone (used old phone that was lying around) and then update the firmware on the plug. After that it seemed to work okay, so not sure if it was the plug or the dodgy Virgin router. Anyway, it works now and Alexa picks it up fine.
I bought these with trepidation as I had had issues with the hard wired Sonoff gear regarding 2.4 Ghz only connectivity. I have SKY Q and BT whole home, both of which run 2.4 and 5 on the same SSID causing the eWlink application to fail to connect the controllers.
I simply turned off all but the central wifi dish and did the configuration in an area far enough away that only the 2.4Ghz signal reached that far. Having configured up all 3 that I bought, I turned the wifi dishes back on and moved the smart plugs to where I needed them to work.
So far they have been a 100% success with zero issues controlled via Alexa both individually and as part of my “Christmas” group.
So god that I ordered another 3 the next day. Both orders arrived the day after the order was placed!
On grumble – the eWlink app itself has this idea that you cannot control the Sonoff devices on more than one device directly. You have to create a different user per device and then individually share each device with the per-device users. For me not an issue as I only use Alexa to control them.
These appear to be as good as if not better than the much more expensive WEMO smart switches that I used before
Amazing now that it’s up and running thanks to the free helpline. Not exactly sure what they did but followed they’re instructions and now all is running real swell I’m ordering another for the hallway.
I’ve got 6 of these now and all work well. I don’t use the firmware they come with so can’t comment on that, but the hardware is well thought out with a proper switch mode power supply that is nevertheless very efficient and a PCB that clearly has the right safety features such as isolation slots etc.
I’ve bought loads of these (15+) and they’re all around my house. The hardware’s great, but I can’t say anything about the software since I flashed all of mine with the excellent Sonoff Tasmota open source firmware. Thank you Sonoff for finally making a smart plug at a price point I like, and not blocking custom firmware!
Loving the Sonoff range – this works great. It’s a bit confusing first time you try to connect a sonoff device to WiFi using apple, but once you’ve done one, they all have a similar set up process and takes a couple of minutes
Update: now on my fourth one, linked eWeLink with Echo Dot/Alexa app and all works very well. So I’d give it a 4.5 as the review below is still =laid.
The reason for the 4 stars is this took me much longer to setup than it should, the app is an open source one and I did struggle to set up timers than it should have been.
The other major issue was to get it paired onto the network, it took too many tries and in the end I had to try the recommended alternative method to achieve this using IOS. About an hour to setup 3 of these! But after all the initial steep learning experience they all work. Looking to purchase units that go inside the lamps themselves.
I’ve had this for about 3 weeks now and it’s worked faultlessly. Much cheaper than hive and looks to be just as good for what I need.
Very easy to set up. No idea why someone struggled on virgin WiFi. I’m on virgin at worked straight away.
I’ve bought three of these and several other products in the Sonoff range. I’m using two of them to control my office heating and others at home. They’re incredibly easy to install and so far they’ve operated faultlessly. Evidently, some people worry about data security. If you have a problem with giving your email and wifi password to an electronics company in Shenzhen then home automation is probably not for you, at least until an Apple solution is available at a competitive price.
Personally, I don’t worry — and there’s plenty of good things to impress me about these Sonoff products: build quality seems good, these mains socket adaptors are CE approved, they are hosted by Amazon servers, Nest integrates with the App and, of course, the prices are amazingly low.
Great product and very easy to use. Connecting to WiFi it’s really simple and so far never disconnected. I use a few of the sonoff (+ Alexa) products and i’m very pleased. Sometimes Alexa says “the device is not responding” yet the function that you asked it do is complete. But that is a small inconvenience considering the price compared with other smart outlets and the fact that no hub is necessary so no extra costs. And if you don’t mind waiting for about 3 weeks, you can get the same product from China at half the price.
AMAZING works perfect with my phone and echo plus highly recommend if you are looking for a cheaper smart home setup has all the functions the more expensive ones have
Works really well via the EWeLink app or Alexia. This is the 4th Sonoff device in my house and they all work very well together. A great cheep way to get into home automation.
These work really well as designed. I’ve installed them in a clubhouse to allow us to power down drinks fridges when not in use to save energy.
Adding them to the app was a little flaky, needed to power cycle one or two of them before they would add. Other than that they have been very easy to use and they respond very quickly to commands. The new support for scenes etc is also very useful.
It would be nice if Itead offered a version with power monitoring in this form factor.
Overall highly recommended.
I am a big fan of sonoff and these plug tops dont disapoint. I have lots of these in service and never have an issue. They all work from my phone app and have full multi day programs. Great value

Really with they have power monitoring build in, but the DO NOT, which is a great shame.
Plugged in, connected to WiFi and routines set, so simple

Plugs work well over Wi Fi …
trying to use remotely with mobile phone a nightmare.Solved works ok now .
Great delivery. Compliments my sonoff house system perfectly and controllable through Alexa and smart phone
Great product at s great price, would use seller again.
Sometimes a little slow to react, even when using the physical button, but overall very positive

The only slight complaint that I had was that I had to enter “safe” mode to configure them. This procedure is documented. Once configured I updated to latest firmware via the app. All good and have been working great for weeks now on easy to set up schedules.
Great smart socket/plug I needed this to act as on/off switch to control my fire place led lights. It works great with my other smart bulbs.
Have used Sonoff devices for few years, liked being into plug in without wiring like some other devices.
Currently only supports 2.4Ghz wifi
Were good plugs with dedicated app.
Can be tricky to set up but reliable whan done.
Great product, if you don’t fancy the eWeLink software then you can easily flash with tasmota. Just YT Sonoff and flash and you should be good to go.

Love this product. Works well and I currently have 6 of the around my house in schedules
They work just perfect.
So easy to set up and update. If you set up a ‘scene’ to activate it, there is even a history of operations. Allowing you to monitor the switching.
Excellent.. countdown..or inching function very useful and effective for door opener..zui hao!
Took a while to set up bit once figure out works perfec
Tried the smart plug and it works perfectly well. Very happy with it. Bought two.
Good quality works well – can be loaded with custom firmware
Easy to use and great value for money – highly recommended
These appear to be as good as if not better than the much more expensive WEMO smart switches that I used before
Easy to configure, amazing features for price, linked to Alexa, android phone app with on/off program, impressive for the money
Amazing now that it’s up and running thanks to the free helpline. Not exactly sure what they did but followed they’re instructions and now all is running real swell I’m ordering another for the hallway.
Never had a problem and very easy to set up
A little bulky. But work well..
Setup was a little bit of a faff.
Once setup works great.
get yourself some 10amp internal mini fuses as someone might plug a kettle or fire into one of these. 2000wt max 10amp.
shame they arent 16amp 3000w
I’ve got 6 of these now and all work well. I don’t use the firmware they come with so can’t comment on that, but the hardware is well thought out with a proper switch mode power supply that is nevertheless very efficient and a PCB that clearly has the right safety features such as isolation slots etc.
Set up went well with my mobile phone, good quality finish.
Easy set up. Times are great. Works with google home
Works really well with my Amazon Dot. Only issues are that it is a big socket and the light is very bright!
