These headphones are very good for the price. The overall sound quality very good. The battery life lasts for ages.

The sound does leak if you have it around medium volume and above but for the price I can’t complain.

When you are on a phone call your voice does echo. I cannot figure out how to stop this from happening so if you know please say

I bought these headphones for my 88 year old father who has poor hearing and these have been a great buy for him, particularly as no-one else now has to suffer hearing his musical choices!

These Sony headphones are great if you are on a budget they are very well made not too big where they look like ear muffs, sound quality is excellent as you would expect from Sony, battery lasts a long time as advertised, only negative for me is the volume could be better on these, as expected the noise cancellation is not great but then it would’nt be at this price point.
Overall a great product for the price paid.

One for the wife and one for a grandchild. They’re both over the moon with them and I’ve got my quiet life back….What more needs to be said other than the battery life is exceptional, apparently.

They are comfy, sound quality is great for this price point & I’m very pleasantly surprised how long the battery lasts. If they were lost or stolen, I’d buy the same ones.
They are light & use USB-C.
Only being harsh & taking half a star because your own voice sounds funny in a phonecall or VC, something I don’t really think can be addressed but hey.

The packaging was lovely and the earphones are great quality. The only issues I have are :
    1. Charger is too short could add a little more length.
    2. When I let someone else use the earphones. The earphone don’t show up . It takes about 20mins for them to show up and pair with a new device .
Either than that really good and recieved earphones quite quickly.

  20. ReyesEames says:

considering these are the cheapest branded headphones, they’re doing alright. they feel a bit flimsy like Primark headphones and unless its on really low volume people will be able to hear what you’re listening to. listening to something feels like you’re listening from your phone but battery life is great and charging time, have had it for like 3 months now, seems pretty stable

For the price I’ve got to be honest, I wasn’t expecting much, I just wanted a cheap pair of headphones for the gym, but these things absolutely belt out the tunes, awesome level of bass, clear crisp sound and LOUD on full volume, nice tight fit aswell. Can’t really hear things around me either while they’re on so a plus point for noise cancelling. Nothing better in this price range on the market, well worth it.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersBought these in 2020, writing this in (Nov’ 2022. Almost feel like brand new, sound quality is clean and noise cancelling has held up. No issues with bluetooth connection and although controls take a bit getting used to, no issues there either.

Two downsides are that there’s no microphone and I’ve had to replace the ear pads as the coating has peeled away from regular use. Bought replacements off of Amazon for less than a tenner.

Also one regret is that I did not get the usb (dongle?). Would have preferred to hook them up to the laptop.

All in all, a great piece of reliable kit.

The battery lasts VERY long, I charge it about once a week when I use it everyday but it has never gone less than 50%. I like that I can still hear people when they talk to me but it quietens background noise a little. Only downside is that my ears can get quite sore after wearing it for more than a few hours

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersNot sure why there are SOME negative reviews/points on these headphones. They are great and for the cost I’m sure there’s not much better out there in the market place. Very easy to connect and comfortable on the head. These aren’t my first pair of Sony headphones but I needed a cheap wireless pair to go climbing in and these definitely make the cut. The audio quality from these headphones is really good for the price and they do a good job of blocking out background noise when you’ve got something playing. The only downside is when you’re on a phone call and have the audio streaming to these headphones via Bluetooth you can hear your own voice as a fairly loud echo which gets a bit annoying after a time. However as long as you aren’t regularly using them for calls and want something that’s affordable with good music quality I’d definitely recommend.

I bought these to wear to work as a gardener. The sound quality is very good and it’s easy to control the volume using the buttons on the side. The noise cancellation is of a high quality under normal circumstances but when it comes to using power tools it didn’t help much. They suffered a fair bit of wear and tear from the outside work but they work incredibly well and seem to be very durable. Very good value for money!

What can I say? For the price these headphones are great! These are my 1st Bluetooth headphones I have owned.

Obviously, they are not going to sound as good as high end headphones but for 35 the sound is still good. Other reviews mentioned that they wasn’t loud and the sound was low? I personally haven’t had this problem. I used them for around an hour a day for the 1st 9 days and they were still fully charged.

Unlike some reviews I find these to be a comfortable wear.

Would recommend these headphones if you’re looking for something wireless. For me, they’re comfy enough but a tiny bit pinchy (as a glasses wearer and I have lots of ear piercings).
The battery on these things is AMAZING, I’ve only charged them once since purchase so they would be great for travelling / long journeys.
I don’t use the buttons on them to change songs or volume out of habit but they are easy enough to use.

Overall, great for the price but if you want something more comfortable or cushiony I would recommend the more expensive Sony headphones.

I wear these headphones for watching movies at night.
I like that they tell you the remaining battery charge when you turn them on.
I don’t know how long they last in all honesty, but I wear them a couple of hours a night and hardly ever seem to charge them.
I charge them using my phone charger as they both use USB c. They charge quickly and have an indicator light.
They are easy to pair, just hold the button for a few seconds.
They are comfy to wear and I think the sound is good. I sometimes listen to music but I mainly wear them for watching movies. I would definitely recommend these, in fact I have.
They have made watching movies a lot more enjoyable.

I completely agree about the sound, it is actually very good for the price and so the noise cancellation.

I have some problem with the microphone when I connect my laptop but not an huge one as all are more then able to perfectly listen me.

When with my phone, while cycling all good. Sound and microphone

About the confort, they are not so comfortable, every 30 min/1h I need to take Down as the pull to much my ears

But, in general, I am happy

Mostly using headphones for music, listening a lot.
Noise cancelation – isn’t very good – I can’t hear people around me, but they can clearly hear what I’m listening to.
Battery time – using pretty much everyday, but battery doesn’t discharge after day or two of listening, it’s great!
Lightweight – when it’s on my head or in my hands, it doesn’t matter, it’s so light I forgot I have them.
Sound quality – for this price is good enought.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this to be a lightweight headphone set for my daughter’s birthday a few months back, and it has been with us for long enough that I feel happy to review it.

If you want a reliable headset from a known brand at a good price, then this is an excellent contender. It has been well designed for rough handling and abuse without feeling too cheap. The money saved appears to have been used on decent enough drivers and good battery life. These are small, good for kids and travelling, but if you want to be insulated from the world the ear cups go on your ears, not over them.

    Pros:
    *Lightweight
    *Durable
    *Good sound production
    *Charges via USB C
    *Long battery life
    *Fairly Comfortable
    *Seems to cancel noise adequately
*Budget design means cheap materials, excellent for a headset that is likely to be abused

    Cons:
    *No headphone jack
    *Cannot connect whilst charging
*Small ear cups that don’t seal around your ears
*Budget design means cheap materials, the headset feels plasticy to handle

For 30 it’s amazing. Even though it doesn’t have noise cancel option good enough when I’m indoor, where I’m using most of the time. Good sound quality and good bass. Of course it’s not as good as 100/200 Sony or Bose but also not as bad as 10 or 99p headphones! Im using to watch movie on tablet and it’s amazing.
Build quality not great, it’s just plastic, feels really cheap !
Comfortable wise it’s really comfortable. I use 2/3 hours with no issue.
There is no storage pouch or bag, some other cheap brand even come with a nice carry pouch !
But hay 30 I’m not moaning!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIgnore the negative reviews to be honest. Now, I go through headphones like hot cakes. I get overstimulated on public transport and they are a necessity but also I (accidentally) knock them about on my busy commute. A few important things to note :

1 – They ARE noise cancelling. I wear them in the gym and they blur out annoying gym music.

2 – They ARE durable, don’t be put off by first impressions.

3 – I can understand how the might NOT be comfortable. The ear muffs are quite small which I don’t have a problem with but I understand people with medium to large ears might have issues with comfort and noise leakage .

Overall personally they work great for me and I give it them a 9.5/10 . Only thing to improve on I would say is a padded top to the headphones. Other than that they are FABULOUS 🙂

  59. By ANDREW C. REVKIN says:

     United Kingdom

Golden Review Award: 28 From Our UsersI’ve had these for a few days now so here are my thoughts.

    TL;DR:

These are good value headphones for the price and have a good, focused feature set. They are good for casual listening and work well if you want to listen to things around your home or in bed. They have good battery life, poor noise isolation, an OK sound signature and work well for the price.

    **Comfort**
In terms of comfort the headphones are about what I’d expect. They do not have any padding on the headband and the padding on the earcups is acceptable.

The headphones are very light but after a long period you will feel a slight discomfort on the top of your head as the headband has no padding.

Generally the headphones are OK to wear for longish periods (1 to 2 hours) if you do not wear glasses. If you wear glasses you will feel an ache on your ears after a while. Generally I’d say is these are good for casual listening.

Personally I bought these to listen to audiobooks in bed and they work well for that. The earcups are small enough that they do not cause any discomfort when lying down (unlike big over-ear cups which will cause discomfort in bed).

    **Sound Quality**
The sound quality on these headphones is acceptable and good for the price. Everything I’ve listened to sounds clear and clean(ish) and perfectly acceptable for this price range.

The lows have been boosted but the drivers are too small and weak to handle it properly. What happens instead of there being a smooth drop off is the lows sound mushy and “woofy” (for lack of a better term). You can hear an attempt at some kind of bass coming through, but it just sounds bad and can sometimes distract from the rest of the sound as the drivers struggle to produce the overhyped signal. In future models, less bass boost would make these sound better.

Similarly sometimes the highs on these headphones can sound a bit crisp or crunchy but its never so bad I want to take the headphones off. The mids are acceptable.

As these are small closed-cup headphones with small drives the sound-stage is pretty narrow and weak. The sound signature isn’t particularly exciting but it isn’t awful. I think most listeners will enjoy the experience.

    **Bluetooth**
The Bluetooth works well and is easy to use. I’ve paired these with an iPhone, a Samsung Galaxy phone, Macbook and PS4 and it’s worked pretty flawlessly with each one.

However, when you want to add extra devices for the headphones to pair with it becomes a bit confusing. To pair with another device you have to hold the power button down for 7 seconds. This is a confusing user experience because the headphones will turn off but you have to keep holding and then they will suddenly go into pairing mode again. This is not made clear in the manual.

The headphones will always automatically pair to the last device they paired to if it is in range. This can be really annoying so it would be good to see a choice or a built in switch in the future to prevent this from happening.

    **Connectivity and Battery**
The headphones come with no 3.5mm jack output. This is to be expected these days and these headphones should only be purchased if you want a wireless only option.

The headphones come with a very short usb-c charger (about 2-3 cm in length). USB-C is great to see here and I applaud the inclusion of this on a budget headphone. However, it would have cost very little for the manufacturer to include a longer charge cable and made the headphones easier to charge so I hope they do this in a future model. Charging the headphones is very quick and the battery lasts a long time so far (charged once in 3 days of usage).

The headphones appear to enter a low-power / sleep state when there is no sound going through them, which is a great battery saving feature.

If you want to use these headphones with a real-time audio system (like music production software) – you should look elsewhere. As these are wireless headphones, they add a lot of latency when listening to any sound to the point where real-time music production is unplayable.

    **Buttons**
The buttons are kind of bad. Again this is something that is acceptable for a headphone at this price range, but they are kind of hard to press and not easy to use. You have to use your whole hand to keep the headphone in place while your thumb presses one of the buttons. It’s hard to tell what a button is by feeling it.

There is also a lot of handling noise transmitted through the headphone when you are reaching for the buttons. This isn’t a big deal and is a consequence of a small headphone like this. (It can’t be helped.)

Some better separation between the buttons as well as better molding for the bumps on the buttons would make it clearer / easier to use.

In total there are 3 buttons that are used for multiple functions:

    Middle button functions as:
    – Short press: Play/Pause
    – Long press: On/Off
    – Very long press (7 seconds or more): Bluetooth pairing mode

    Side buttons function as:
    – Short press: Volume Up / Down
    – Long press: Skip forward / backward

There are additional button functions mentioned in the manual. For example factory resetting the device requires you to hold volume up and power while the device is charging.

    **Noise Cancellation / Isolation**

There is very little noise isolation from these headphones. This is to be expected as these are on-ear cup budget headphones and not over-ear cup headphones. There is no noise cancellation whatsoever. This is would have been a great feature to have but ultimately these are budget headphones so you can’t expect a lot. For casual listening around your home / listening in bed at night, these headphones work great. If you are going down a busy street, you will probably struggle to hear these headphones.

If noise cancelling is a feature that is important to you, i’d recommend looking at over-ear cup headphones with a higher budget (at least 20 more).

I bought this to replace my Sony MDRIF140K infra-red headphones that I bought about a decade ago; they started to have some electrical problems (not surprising after so long). I was looking for something nice and light (the old ones were 125g); these ones are of a similar weight (132g). The Bluetooth range is very good (I also bought the Bluetooth adapter suggested as a bundle, TP-Link Nano USB Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter), which is an advantage over the old IR technology.

The sound quality is excellent — great frequency response and noise free. I had tried various wireless headphones and these have the best sound quality by far. They compare favourably with my Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 wired headphones. The on-ear pads block out a lot of ambient noise (possibly even a little too much — you need to remove them to hear someone speak who is in the room).

The rechargeable battery lasts a long time; I usually keep it turned on most of the day, even when not using them, and a full charge lasts a few days. I had to buy a longer charging cable since the included one is very short. But I use this long cable to also charge my new iPad mini, which also uses USB C.

My major complaint is that the headphones are a little tight on my head, particularly since I wear glasses. The old Sony IR headphones were a lot more comfortable.

I have used these on Zoom calls and they are very good for that, particularly since they are not very big so they do not look too goofy. I have not used the in-built microphone since I always use an external mic.

All in all, I will give these headphones 5 stars, though I would actually have given them 4.5 stars if I could, marking them down a bit for being too tight for long-term use. Given the low price (I paid 35), I think they are excellent value.

I’ve bought a couple of these. One brand new and another from an Amazon seller (Tatty Box). They live up to the promise that you won’t be recharging every day. They look good and sound quality is reasonable for the cost.

I wish the volume controls were a little more distinctive. They’re fiddly. I also wish it was possible to easily switch between 2 paired devices. It’s a bit inconvenient having to access the device they’re connected to, to disconnect before then connecting to a second device. This might be a characteristic of Bluetooth rather than the product but if it is then it’s a flaw. These are so good I’d love to be able to switch at will between my different devices. I can’t easily do that right now.

Overall I’m happy with these for the cost and would recommend.

Delighted with these headphones. My partner bought some and I liked them so much I got a pair too. My first set of wireless headphones, I love the freedom to walk and exercise without a line to my phone in my pocket. The sound is very good. Some reviews comment on the lack of padding across the headband which I was a little concerned about, but this has been fine. My partner has thick hair, and I have short fine hair, and we have very different head shapes and we both find them comfortable. The lateral grip of the headphones means you don’t have to have the headband tightly on the head. I use them for gym work, walking, watching tv and for my laptop and they connect well with bluetooth easily. My partner does hit on her spin bike and they stay in place well.

Purchased these due to my dad having had lots of charging problems with some much higher priced jvc wireless headphones.
These Sony wireless headphones really are at a great price point and do exactly what they are suppose to.
The charge on these is really quite impressive.my dad used these for over a week.of evening TV watching only. We were both very impressed by how long they lasted on a single charge, comparing them to the jvc we did have and ended up throwing aside.I had to charge those every 2 days.Well when they would charge that is.At least these sony ones charge as they should,no problems atall.the sound quality is also very good again considering the price point. You do get a very very tiny charge lead for some strange reason would have been nice for them to at least give you a decent length lead.but still managed to find somewhere to charge them up ok.
Luckily I have a combi Plug/USB wall socket. You can however also charge them up in any USB like pc laptop or tv etc.
They are ok build quality wise but not totally solid, especially the twist flat design earpad speaker areas which could very easily get broken if someone clumsy got there hands on them.or if they Were accidentally trodden on.these sony wireless headphones also clearly tell you when you turn them off or when they are turned on. Which is very handy as the useless jvc ones we had just beeped once or twice and it was hard to tell what 1 meant on or off. Especially for an older person to understand easily anyway.
Button Functions are very straight forward and simple to use.
OVERALL GREAT PRICE & VERY GOOD WIRELESS HEADPHONES.YOU CAN ALWAYS RELY ON GETTING A DECENT PRODUCT FROM SONY IN MY MANY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH THERE PRODUCTS. WELL WORTH THE PRICE.

I am not a music aficionado, but as I cannot wear earphones I have gone through a decent number of low to mid-range headphones, and I have to say that this one is the best mid-range one I have ever used!

I used to have a Sennheiser that had better quality sound but these headphones are much lighter, smaller, easier to carry around than the Sennheiser and yet comfortable on the ear. I tuck it in my backpack or in my handbag (it fits in a medium size handbag) and carry it around. It has been exactly a year now of regular near-daily usage and it is still absolutely fine with no issues what-soever. I love the battery life, I used to have headphones that regularly ran out of battery while I was out for the day, this never happens because the charging lasts ages and it also warns me when there is 25% battery left so I don’t leave without charging it. Overall super happy with it!!! Would definitely buy again if needed one day!

I bought this pair of headphones following having an earlier pair of Sony wirless headphones that worked perfectly for a long time before dying on me. Therefore, I had high expectations for the newer model of Sony headphones due to my previous positive experience.
Unfortunately, whilst decent and reflecting good value for money, this pair of headphones did not fully live up to my expectations. Initially, I had a number of problems with the Bluetooth connectivity. I successfully paired my headphones and would connect them to my phone but then randomly the headphones would disconnect and reconnect. I also found the sound quality on calls to be less good than the previous model. Oddly, when making a call, I find that it sounds almost as if the headphones are constantly on talk through, allowing background noise to be filtered through to the wearer. This can make phone calls annoying especially when in loud places.
I sought Amazon technical advice regarding the headphones. I tried some of the suggested fixes and was eventually sent out another pair of headphones. The technical advice offered was helpful and the new product sent out quickly with no qualms. I have found the Bluetooth connectivity issues have been resolved with the new set of headphones. The issue mentioned regarding making calls and background noise still persists slightly.
In terms of day to day usage, the battery life on these headphones is very good! I have found the audio quality good when listening to music, podcasts etc. The side buttons which control the volume and turn the headphones on/off work well. I found the over ear fit of the headphones much more comfortable than in ear pairs. I’m also an active person and have often used the headphones running or in the gym with no issues of them slipping off. Overall these are a decent enough pair of headphones representing good value for money.

This is a genuine review of Sony’s WH-CH510.
I bought these on a whim as a pair of work headphones, they were one of the cheapest big brand sets on amazon. They had good reviews and I’ve had some good Sony headphones in the past, so i took a chance.
I am genuinely surprised at how good they are. I’ve used them intensively for a few weeks now and have been a real pleasure.
The sound is detailed enough and there’s a good amount of bass. I’m sure they’re not the last word in audio quality but they are very fun to listen to and make my music enjoyable. They are also very comfortable and stay where they should, even when moving around. Another huge plus is that the battery life is fantastic, using them a few hours a day at work gave me over a week of battery life. Bluetooth range is also very good.
For the price I was personally very happy with these little headphones.

The battery life is extremely good. Full charge gave a good 35 hour play back and charging was quick. (Althought I’ve never bothered to time) sound good but I would like a tad louder. The noise cancellation is non existant. Everyone close by to you can hear what you’re listening to. For the price I paid I was happy. I’ve bought cheaper types and they they were a complete waste of money. These are decent enough to use. I got them to use in hospital. Didn’t want to pay a fortune incase of loss etc but they kept me entertained when ill. I would definitely recommend if on a budget.

If you are looking for an everyday out-and-about pair of wireless headphones, you can’t go far wrong with these. Super comfortable to wear, very easy to use – and has the bonus of being able to access your voice assistant. Battery lasts for weeks. The sound quality for this price level is outstanding. Some people say there is not enough bass, but I would say the bass is perfect – and if you need more just use the EQ settings on your phone. Great value for money.

As it is a Sony product, I decided to try it out instead of using smaller companies.

    My findings are-

Bass can be quite low although the mid range and low range is fairly clear. It is not very loud, compared to my other 30 range headphones with noise cancellation function. It is light and does not hurt or irritate me whilst using them.

No equaliser which reduces sound quality for certain audio on video or programmes.

It was an emergency therefor I selected them. It’s ok for short term use.

I find these headphones very comfortable to wear for lengthy periods since they are extremely light and have well padded ear cups. The control switches are well designed and are positioned conveniently. I also like the fact that when powering the headphones on or off an audible announcement is made which also gives details of the remaining battery power. The Bluetooth pairing was very quick and straightforward with both my laptop and also my smartphone (Android).
There is no padding on the headband although personally I don’t find this to be a problem. However, on occasions when I have used the headphones while out walking or shopping I find the adjusters for the ear cups are easily moved out of position simply by the action of removing the headphones or retrieving them from my backpack. Unfortunately these headphones do not have a cable socket so I can’t use them with my home Hi-Fi but this is something that I omitted to check when I was looking for suitable headphones.

Great headset, exactly what I was looking for. I use it mostly to listed to a podcasts while working, sometimes a bit of music. The sound quality and sound insulation might not be 100%, but it is good enough for me (I’m no specialist). I love the fact that as a glass wearer they don’t squeeze my glasses into my skull around the ears plus I can pivot the actual cushiony bit so it further releases the pressure. The battery is amazing also! Great item for the price. The only thing that isn’t too great is that it seems that I need to get one device to ‘forget’ the headset to connect it to a different one, but as I mentioned, for the price that isn’t that big of a deal for me.

These head phones do accept calls and have a microphone
For the money the sound quality is amazing, I like rock music so bass is not that important, that said there is a reasonable Bass on them, the battery life is unreal, its about 45 hours before needing a charge, they are comfortable to wear for long periods, you can leave your phone/ ( output) and the range is about 30 feet, as the crow flies, not to bad through walls either
My one complaint is: when on the phone making a call it is a bit echo-ee however its not a big issue as the call quality is good enough,

    Conclusion: Absolute bargai

So I was looking for a headset which was not Jabra expensive but something with good clear sound and microphone. I saw this on the store for 32.95 and bought it as I love Sony products and didn’t expect to see one so cheap! I was skeptical initially about the built in microphone but I’ve been bowled over at how good this is for the price.

I think if you’re going to use it for Teams/Zoom calls this is great. I’ve had it for about a week and I use it intermittently on calls throughout the day so it’s on for about 8 hours a day. So far I’ve only charged the battery once initially when I got it, and not charged it since then. So thumbs up on battery life.

As for the sound quality, crystal clear, can’t fault Sony for that. The microphone is also clear and no disturbances for me. I’ve got medium size ears and I wear glasses and I don’t find the fitting of the headphones an issue. Fits perfectly on my ears and around my head.

As for the noise cancelling, I didn’t really get it for that, but I do find that it shuts out a lot of noise but not exactly noise cancelling if that’s what you want. When you’re on calls or listening to music there’s not much of a leak unless you listen to music really loudly.

All in all for 33 quid this is a really sensible purchase if you don’t want to spend another 40-60 on Jabra equivalents or go for the cheap 15-20 options.

I bought on-ear headphones rather than noise cancelling headphones because I got them for wearing while in the street, and didn’t want to be too cut-off from my surroundings. However as soon as there’s any traffic noise you can hardly hear anything through them. I actually prefer using my Sony MDR-XB50AP in-ear headphones because the sound quality is better! I’ve tried them with different styles of music and the sound quality is generally very good although a bit lacking in the bass where there’s a heavy drum beat, but the connectivity is excellent and they’re good for a small head.

I wanted a second pair of decent Bluetooth headphones, primarily for watching TV or listening to Spotify and Amazon Music on my phone and tablet. I didn’t want to pay a fortune as I already have a pair of Sony’s that were around 100 mark so I went for these and was pleasantly surprised,

They have really decent sound quality in the price range, though I did expect the volume to go a little higher than it does as it’s not overly loud even on maximum volume setting – my more expensive Sony’s seem to be louder than these,

That’s only a minor criticism though, because they do sound decent. I wouldn’t say they are overly Bass heavy either, in fact – having listened to a pretty wide selection of music, Sony seem to have got the balance pretty good across the board, I just wish they have a bit more punch in the volume department,

One thing to mention though, they do feel really lightweight, and at first they seemed really cheaply made compared to my others, but then taking into consideration the price and the fact these are meant to be portable and lightweight for talking with you and listening to music on the move, it’s logical why they have been made this way,

Would I recommend them? – well for what I wanted, definitely yes but it depends what your looking for. If your after a decent no frills pair of Bluetooth headphones with decent sound quality, but are not to worried about build quality – these are ideal without a doubt

    Enjoy!

I had the white ones, but my husband ‘borrowed’ them and bought me a replacement pair of the black colour ones. I think I got a bit of a bum deal, because although I prefer the black colour, I swear they’re not as loud, noise cancelling, or comfortable as my original pair. The originals got a 5 star rating from me. I’m not sure why the difference, since they’re the identical model, but that’s my opinion. I still think they’re great for the price. They’re lightweight and the battery lasts for literally 3 full days, so there’s no chance of them turning off mid dog walk or workout and 15 minutes of charge will give you a couple of hour’s juice if you did forget to fully charge them. Bluetooth can be a nuisance to set up the first time, but once paired, connection is immediate every time after that.

These are about the fifth set of headphones my 19 year old son has gone through in about a year. I’ve no idea what he does to them but they always end up with only one side working. He’s gone through cheap sets to expensive Beats headphones and they still all end up with one side working.

These Sony headphones look good in black. They are not like the big chunky headphones you get and Sony are well known for their quality and one of the best brands for electronics.

These headphones are bluetooth and wireless and the sound quality is very good for the price.

This is a really good set of headphones with a very good sound quality. I mostly use these for meetings in Teams and so far I am happy with them. There are some issues with these, mostly down to my personal preference however.

There has been some occasions where I have lost sound in Teams during meetings, but I can fix this if I flip between the laptop speaker and then back to he Sony Headphone hands free. Not sure yet why this is happening but it could be originating from the laptop and not the speakers.

The biggest issue I have is the Sidetone feature. This allows to hear yourself when speaking during a meeting, and apparently is a feature that cannot be adjusted or even disabled. Sony sees this a good feature, but I would somehow disagree, as it could be annoying and disruptive, and takes some time to get use to it.

I must say, event though I love these headphones, this Sidetone issue, does not make these headphones perfect in my view. Still however, I have kept them 🙂

Given the positive reviews on these headphones, specially on its sound quality, i decided to buy these, apart from most of the reviews pointing to how cheap they look. For me the sound quality is more important and i would be using them most of the time indoor, so poor noise cancellation wouldn’t be such a problem. The sounds didn’t impress me, i feel they lack high frequencies, and consequently clarity. Bass is ok, however it emphasizes the mid low frequency bass, instead of the really low. I was expecting better sound quality to be honest, specially from Sony. Not sure of its because its a bluetooth pair of headphones, but that shouldn’t make any difference as soon as bluetooth bandwidth is enough. I always choose sony headphones because they usually have very good sounds quality, at least for my taste. I didn’t feel the same about these ones unfortunately. Lets see how long they last.

I find these headphones to be rather confusing. I bought these to use with my Iphone as I have my whole library of MP3’s saved onto the phone. These headphones produce decent sound, bluetooth connectivity can also be quite good although I have experienced a couple of cut outs from this device a few times.
I find these to be ever so slightly louder than the previous version (WH-CH500) but at the same time less warm sounding whilst the bass tends to be a little more in your face. The CH500’s I feel produced a better sounding package overall but considering the price these also do a decent job.
One area where these fall down compared to the previous version is comfort. After a while of use, these tend to hurt quite a bit on the ear. It usually happens around 30 minutes after putting them on. With the CH500’s I did not feel this was as bad. I could wear those for far longer before feeling any pain in my ears!

Overall, a great sounding pair of headphones, just shame about the comfort.

Decent sound, decent bluetooth, shame about noise cancellation and comfo

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have 3 pairs of headphones. My 200 pair are for when I want the best I can afford. The next best pair are around 130 and have metal frame and super soft ear pads I can fall asleep in and not worry about breaking. Now the 3rd pair category I place these “ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SONY HEADPHONES” in is everyday bump, drop use. I am a Postman and I have to hear a little background noise hence why I brought “On Ear”. Please trust me in that I expect these to last 2-3 years of 6 days a week and average 4-5 hrs a day use. My last 2 pairs of Philips I used for every day also did a outstanding job!. But the build quality of the Sony I’m reviewing are far superior!!!. I have nothing to gain buy asking you to ignore the negative reviews. I’m bald and there is no issue in comfort whatsoever. They are street cred, with a fabulous sound and puncy Bass. What great new feature I really love is when intuating a call, a exterior microphone amplifies the surrounding. So you can hear if the wind is going to disturb the other person and hearing your own voice actually stops you walking along sounding like “Dom Jolly ,lol” shouting for all to hear how much you love your partner etc. Another thing which is great is the playback time, 4 days Ive had and roughly about 4hrs a day and still I have over 50cent battery.
I cannot fault these great Sony’s , personally I wouldn’t jog in , but I would be doing over 10 miles and they wouldn’t be waterproof. All said and done at 50 down to 35 a 10/10 quality everyday stylish Sony rocks and Works pai

These are alright headphones. I would rate 3.5 out of 5 if I could as I believe it’s fitting.

Battery life is excellent, I use them for a number of hours on a daily basis and charge about once a week. I’ve had them for about exactly a month now and have charged them 3 times.

They are comfortable to wear for hours on end but during the heatwave last week a bit of sweat built up on the ear muffs. I won’t knock any points off for that because that weather was just freakish tbh. But if you’ll be using these in hot/arid climates – watch out for this.

Sound is good and loud but I can’t help but feel there’s a bit of noise leakage sometimes so I never go full volume because of paranoia.

Now the reason I said 3.5 instead of 4 is definitely the microphone. It’s absolutely awful. If you’re using this for meetings just switch mic settings to your computer mic because these make the headphones sound hollow, you hear all sorts of weird noises you normally wouldn’t (e.g. moving in your chair, birds in the garden etc) also the volume goes all the way down and all sound is distorted.

Would really be good to get a better fix or not include the microphone – ruined a decent product.

For the price they are decent. I just wish there was no microphone.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersOne of the best purchases of the lockdown. Having noisy children and still having to have those virtual meetings, I’m very pleased with this! Also amazing for listening to music as it has good bass and the sound is very clear. Yes, I don’t know much of technical features and all those specific jargon people use to describe headphones, but for the others like me that only want a good product without having to sell a kidney, this is a fantastic purchase! And being wireless is a surplus, especially when you’re cooking the kids lunch and still can listen to that webinar playing on your laptop because everyone knows that webinars from 11 am to 1 pm is the perfect timing to throw one! Speaking of which, they have such an amazing battery life! They last so long. Take today, for instance. They are saying low battery since yesterday and I forgot to charge them overnight and yes, they’re still going for 3 hours now. One overnight charging lasts me for around 15 days, using about 10 hours a day. Very good!

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersWanted bluetooth headphones for iPhone and Kindle Fire in garden/bed without trailing wires all over the place. For background music, Netflix, Prime etc, but primarily Amazon Audible. Great sound required (always!!) but not top drawer hi-fi in this instance, and these will do very well.

A little hard on top of my (large) crown but not unbearably so. Not sound cancelling, but not needed anyway, and am unconcerned about phone call features, so can’t comment on that. They hold a charge well and you get a message powering up which says how much charge is left. They store flat which helps portability.

Connected to my phone, Kindle and pc very easily. Sound is a lot better than I expected for the price. Right out of the box it is rich but not plumby, bass is deep enough and tight, not blowy, boomy or synthetic. The voice and midranges are crisp and accurate. So music/voices sounds clear, natural and realistic and this is just what I want given what I am using them for. A little “tight” but this will mellow with use over the next few weeks. Likewise the stereo picture, which is a bit left sided brand new, should balance out as I break them in. When there is no sound, the speakers are absolutely silent.

So far so perfect BUT what has SONY done with the charging system?? The lead is standard cheap quality and VERY short (20cm tip to tip). Most annoyingly for me is that whilst it’s standard USB at one end the input on the earphone is something I haven’t seen for years. WHY?? I use a high speed charger and cables which I use for everything else but which don’t fit the earphone input. Yes, it charged from new in a couple of hours (rather than the 4.5 hours suggested) using the charge, but why not the universal terminals everyone else uses??? So DON’T throw away the provided lead as I usually do and above all DON’T lose it!! (I suspect SONY are getting rid of old stock/parts).

However, I have bought Sony products of all types many times over the years and they have never disappointed performance wise. I wouldn’t pay the original 50 tag (I got them on Amazon recently at 30) and they are not meant to be hi-fi quality headphones. However, I would absolutely recommend them for a very good, comfortable, well balanced and accurate sounding fun listen.

..with the little time required for the headphone to be fully charged and with how long it lasts once charged. The battery level indicator is useful — fully charged, 70%, 50%, battery level low; not all headphones have this. Sound leakage starts to become noticeable above medium volume. For me, medium volume is loud enough; so that is not a problem. It connects quickly to devices and feels comfortable in comparison with over-padded headphones. A short USB type A to USB type C cable is supplied with it, which means that the headphone cannot be charged with the more common cables.

  87. The Editors of GQ says:

The sound from these headphones, for the price point, is great, I honestly can’t fault it (I’m no expert). My only real issue is that there is no padding at all across the top of the head band. If you’re like me and have no natural padding (i.e. hair) then it doesn’t make for the most comfotable situation. To exacerbate that the head band is curved slightly front to back, meaning instead of a flat piece of plastic resting on your head you get two edges.
All in all these are great headphones, shouldn’t be a problem for anyone with hair or who wants to wear them over a cap though.

Edit: after a few more days use the lack of padding has proved not as bad as I initially thought. They just took a bit of getting used to. I wear these for running quite a bit and haven’t had any issues.

Been looking at headphones for a while.
The 30 price and the 35hr play time made me click buy.
They are comfortable to wear for long periods.
Indeed I was out in the garden all day, took them to bed to watch TV, and the charge held.
I’m able to walk freely around my home and garden, with no degradation of sound, not disruption at all, as I moved around my home and garden.
The only fault would be the length of the charge lead.
Its impossible to see the charge light or move the headphones whilst it’s charging. Just plugging them in to charge is unnecessarily difficult, because of the very short lead.
Its also not a standard USB charge socket, so buying a longer one has proven difficult.
    Outside of that brilliant headphone.

Had a nice set of Jabra headphones but they were too heavy for gym and had too much padding, making them too hot. These Sony headphones are perfect for the gym, lightweight, not too hot and fit really well. I was also very surprised by how good the noise cancelling is, a tiny bit of sound gets out when over 75% but nothing really noticeable in a noisy gym. They are comfortable. I go for a 1 hour walk everyday wearing these & never had ear aches or any pains. There not to tight or to loose. Not too big. I wouldn’t want a pair of large cans out & about. I definitely wouldn’t want a pair of moronic looking sucker Beats headphones. These are subtle.

Golden Review Award: 38 From Our UsersJust a short review for any potential buyers that are unsure.
Generally I’m happy with these headphones, but wish I had the patience to shop round.
The look is smart and clean, with a textured finish which works for me as I mainly use them in a gym. However they do feel cheap. An all plastic finish and the ear pieces are loose and moves easily, almost too easily.
They have a good fit and are snug. I’d imagine they would eventually get warm on the ears as they’re on-ear rather than over-ear.
Sound quality is average. I’ve have marked them at 30-40 headphones. Good amount of bass but not particularly crisp mid and high ends. 50 seems steep. I was slightly underwhelmed – but contradictorily I’m sure I’ll like them and put them through their paces.

Good all round. But not amazing.

I haven’t even ready the manual yet, so there are probably more functions i’ve not yet tested! Not having the wire is the best bit – I always used to get tangled up, now i’m free! I spent 50 on these, and would not have minded paying 100, they are that good.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersEverything about these headphones is fantastic, with one exception…

The headphones look great, feel really comfortable on your head – decent adjustment level, sound quality is very good for the price – good deep bass and carries through even at max volume without distortion.. I’ve only just got them so can’t comment about battery life but sure it’s more than adequate.

The one thing I really dislike about these headphones is when you pick them up the plastic feels thin, light, flimsy and cheap (although texture looks great as in photos) – the ear-cups also rattle about like a baby toy and aren’t very solid. There are two small Philips screws for each one so I might have a go at tightening but seems like just bad/cheap design in terms of this.. still overall happy with purchase, just a bit of a shame the parts aren’t fixed together solidly, seems like Sony cheaped out on the manufacturing which is reflected in the price I guess

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersAfter 1 week using: Bought for 34 (cyber Monday) I can absolutely say that the price is very good for what you have in hands then. Audio quality is good, I’d prefer more realistic bass, this headphones has bass but it’s kind of pumped (bass with makeup), compared to a pair of more expensive AKG (wired), but for 34 and via Bluetooth it’s ok. Mid and high range frequency good, nothing bad to say. Comfort enough good for the price. Battery (first week) very long duration. Isolation medium, at half volume, if you put the headphones on a table while music playing, you can hear it, so the same form out to your ear, but there’s a bit of isolation. You can understand the real audio quality of this headphones in a quiet room, not on a bus.
    I’m happy about this purchase.

Golden Review Award: 103 From Our UsersI wanted to wait a few weeks so I could give a fair review.

I must say I am impressed with these headphones!

To give a bit of background, these are the first set of wireless headphones I have owned. Previous to that I owned a pair of wired Sony headphones, similar to these. I love my music, and really enjoy listening to good quality sound.

My initial impressions on the headphones are good. They feel very sturdy and I love how the ear cups twist so that the headphones can be stored flat in my rucksack.

Connection to Bluetooth was very quick and easy, and I was able to start listening to Spotify on my phone within 2 minutes!

After a full charge overnight, I was intreiged to see how long the headphones would actually last, given the advertised 35 hour battery life!

Whilst I haven’t kept a diary persay, as a minimum I use the headphones for at least 4 hours a day on my commute to and from work. Each time you turn the headphones on, you have a battery notice played to you, as well as a battery indicator shown on my phone. The headphones lasted for around 7 or 8 days before the headphones advised me to recharge. I haven’t run the headphones right down flat, but I would say the 35 hour life is very accurate.

These are on ear headphones so it would be unreasonable to expect complete noise cancelling. I wanted a pair of headphones that would not deaden my surroundings completely as I think it’s important you aren’t completely unaware. However I would say the headphones cancel noise enough to be able to hear the music.

I occasionally use the headphones to make and receive telephone calls, both in the office at my desk and whilst commuting. The quality is fantastic, and I’ve not experienced any problems with the person on the other end not being able to hear me – big thumbs up for this feature!

Thinking about the reviews I saw before buying these headphones, I will do my best to remember them and give my own thoughts.

    – The volume of the headphones are too low, even on the highest setting.

I saw a few reviews saying this, both on amazon and a few other sources. I have personally not had any issues with the volume (or lack of) on these headphones. My music taste is varied, and even the softer genres play just fine for me. It may be worth noting that there are two volumes to adjust, your phone and the headphones themselves. Depending on the device you may also be able to adjust the graphic equaliser somewhat if needed.

    – The headphones are too tight on my head

There has only been one occasion where I have experienced a bit of pain on my one ear, however I think they were ill-fitted as I adjusted them on my ears and they were fine thereafter. I would say I have an average sized head! I think you have to bear in mind that these headphones sit on your ears, so they will compress somewhat, so they stay on your head.

I would not want them to be looser as I would be conscious they would slide around and potentially fall off my head.

Some have suggested that the band itself is uncomfortable, again, I’ve not had any issues with this regard.

All in all I think these are a really great set of headphones for the price.

If your a more serious music listener then you may want to consider an alternative option, but I would consider these suitable for most!

Golden Review Award: 44 From Our UsersPerfect for a low cost Bluetooth headphones, clear sound, NOT nfc so works with my laptop, smartphone & smart TV. Fairly big battery, lasts me 3/4days usage. Bluetooth connection is very good, some dropout when moving around (about 5m from device). Sleek minimalist design, very light too and comfy. Far superior to JVC equivalent.

Golden Review Award: 197 From Our UsersI have tried a multitude of headphones over the years everything from JVC, Sony, Sennheiser, Philips, WeSC to Grado, Bang & Olufsen and everything in-between. For my money, Grado makes the very best over-ear headphones I have ever bought and they also have exemplary after-sales service. I received these Sony headphones and they are the sixth Sony’s I have tested. I have tested the 1000 M3’s to a set which retailed over 200 which were designed for Hi Fidelity and now these. From the packaging to the actual product they are nice quality and the sound they produce, given the price, is very good.

The big problem in rating headphones and earbuds is that the sound they produce and how they sound is very subjective to review, as two people can listen to a piece of music but they can hear that piece of music differently. In light of this, I am going to try and be as objective about these Earphones as I can.

Let us start this review by considering the price, 49.99 at the time of review. This is a good price given the quality of what you are given. They are extremely well made. Everything from the box to the headpiece appears to be top quality., given the low price The headphones themselves are made of quality materials and are quite light. What is not good is that there is no cushioning on the headband. They are not that comfortable to wear over a long period, as I have a large head and need some cushioning.

The sound they produce is very good given the price. The reproduction is rich and clear, the bass is fantastic, the middle range is clear and defined and the treble is delightful. The only downside to these phones is the bass, it just lacks a bit of depth.

I was not expecting great things from these headphones, yet what they give you in terms of sound quality is very good, given the price. To summarise, these headphones are very well made and produce a sound that is very good. They offer value far beyond the price point. Where they are let down is in the noise-cancelling department. These phones are designed to be used on the go. The amount of background noise is, therefore, going to be loud. This set has no noise-cancelling system and so it kind of defeats the purpose of the set. You have to ask yourself, do you need NC as you journey around? If you don’t need it, these are pretty good headphones for the price.

Golden Review Award: 627 From Our UsersThis is the first time I had been sent a product before it was publicly released in order to write a review, so I felt it only right to do a thorough product analysis. Below I have left a pros on cons list with explanations for each point.

    Pros:
Sound – The sound is excellent, no two ways about it, no static, no hum and no muffling. It sounded sharp and clear for music, videos and telephone conversations.

Microphone – This headset allows you to do hands free calls with it’s built in, internal, microphone. Due to the microphone being inside the right ear drum I was worried that my voice would sound quiet but, according to the person on the other side of the phone, it doesn’t sound any different from a normal phone call.

Glasses – You’ll have no problem wearing glasses while sporting the headset. It doesn’t cause any pinching or squeezing.

Light-weight – It’s surprisingly light. Most wireless headsets have a bit of heft to them but, this one, I can imagine carry around without worrying about getting tired.

Durable – With it’s size and weight I was worried that it wouldn’t be able to survive falling off someone head. So in order to find out I dropped it onto a hardwood floor from about 6 ft, twice, and was pleasantly surprised that not only did it survive but didn’t have a mark on it.

    Cons:
Little sound cancelling – It does very little to stop noise from escaping or entering. I found that while playing music the people around me could hear what I was playing if I had my volume at around 50%, I could also hear most things that were going on around me.

Size – It’s quite small, which can be a good thing, but I found the ear pads weren’t able to cover my ears (Which may be while there’s little sound cancelling). I had a female friend try them and she found that it was actually a tad too big, causing the pads to hang a bit low on her head.

No head padding – Usually you’ll find a pad on arch on the headset to add comfort, but not on this headset. I found the hard plastic very uncomfortable. However someone else I had wear the headset didn’t mind the lack of pad, so I guess it’ll depend on your head shape.

Small charging cable – This is a small quibble but the charger that came in the box is remarkable small. It’s a standard C charger port so this won’t be a problem for most people.

Overall it’s not perfect, but for the current selling price of 50 I think you’ll get more than your monies worth.
