Was not sure how well this would play on the switch. As its designed as a Wii U game that used the touch screen of Wii U controller to draw gestures to switch between wonderful weapons.
On the switch you can use the touch screen so this works well. When dock the game it is still playable as you can make the gesture using the controllers ( not as easy to control , but after a bit of practice its playable, this is the only little let down in the game design)
But what makes this game so wonderful is the absolutely wonderful gameplay it’s just fun all the time. The characters, enemies and environment are so will designed and look great (it put most modern games to shame) It’s so satisfying and fun to fight and smash the enemies and the environment. Once you get used to switching between each Wonderful one’s weapon it becomes interesting to use each weapon that best eliminates the enemy.
The story is also fun with excellent music and sound effects, and the voice acting is just absolutely wonderful really adds to fun.
It’s just a really fun fun game to play. Small learning curve to control weapons but after that it’s just great fun times.
Note; this game originally used the second screen of the Wii U, to provide extra game play input and information. With this version it’s possible to hide this screen as it now an overlay. However, for some missions you need this screen visible to complete the objectives.
if you have this on the wii might not to buy again on switch unless a big fan of the game. But if you never had or played it, its a good action adventure game only issue i had was the part where you draw patterns to perform speacil attacks using the analog stick can be tricky.
Decent game from back in the day and a pretty competent port. If you weren’t a fan of the original the port won’t change that.
Purchased this for my son for xmas . Great delivery time and despatch time. Good price as well.
One of my favourite games of all time. A mix of Pikmin and hack and slash action. The action is none stop and the writing and voice acting is hilarious and top notch. Every level brings something new and theres always a new enemy or set piece around every corner. Shoot ’em up sections, puzzles and even a hilarious puchout level. Also, this game is massive. Just when you think you have beaten the final boss…nope!! The game just keeps expanding and the story keeps going. Theres tons of secrets to find and also little nods to other games that will bring a smile to gamers faces. A special mention must also go to the games music. Its incredible and very much the epic action music soundtrack with a hint of over the top Saturday morning cartoon thrown in.
I played this on its original home of the Nintendo Wii U, and i think using the Wii U’s touch screen to draw the ‘unite-morphs’ (weapon and actions selection) was alot easier. Now, you have to use the right thumb stick to draw the required actions, and it can be quite frustrating and fiddly at first. Once you have this nailed down though, it becomes alot easier and a lot more enjoyable.
All in all, i absolutely adore this game and i am overjoyed that it has got this second chance to find a new audience.
Its not for everybody, mind but if you are looking for something a little bit different and unique and a whole lot of crazy, insanely over the top fun, then look no further.
A future classic and one of Platinums best work ever.
Un gioco da avere, porting della versione per wii u.
Cool, likeable cast of characters and a fun story, this definitely takes some getting used to and the first couple of hours can be kind of frustrating. But don’t be put off! Once you get over the hump and learn more of the mechanics, this becomes another great example of the stylish arcade action Platinum are known for.
Deserves a wider audience!
