The touch screen is nice and works as expected. It has WhatsApp and reminder . In actual fact, it’s just once of those phone for the elderly but.now been upgraded to to have smart features in it which is nic3 and lovely. The phone is nice and will surely recommend it. The keypad are big which makes them readable and I am so pleased with it. Nice phone for the elderly. Anonymous says: 09/06/2022 at I am very pleased with the TTphone. It is perfect for my Granddad. He loves the large numbers, the high volume, and the easy-to-use large keypad. In case of an emergency, all he has to do is press the emergency button on the back for help. I have set up a few numbers to which the text will be sent with the emergency alarm and the location. I now feel comfortable knowing that he can get help anytime he needs it. My grandad loves it because it as the phone is not just a simple flip phone with buttons. It’s a smartphone with a touch screen and big buttons. The camera and Whatsapp are some good features on the phone. I would highly recommend for the elderly. A few apps included not too much to overwhelm them. Only problem I’m finding is the phone doesn’t ring very long! I’m having to ring my mum several times for her to be able to answer before it stops ringing but if I ring her on WhatsApp it rings as long as I am willing to wait. Manual doesn’t give any option to show how to lengthen the caller incoming call. On the whole it’s a fab little phone and my mums 84 and took no time to get used to it. She’s never used an app or had Internet but she’s loving it and loving the video calling on WhatsApp. Because the phone looks like her previous old phone It’s gave her confidence to use the phone using both buttons and touchscreen and not feel worried to make a mistake. noreply@blogger.com Pollyanna Valenzuela says: 29/03/2022 at A simple phone for people who struggle with technology/ smart phones. This is as simple a ‘smart’ phone can get. You can access very simple basic features with a few ‘modern’ elements to it. The phone itself doesn’t look very modern, being a flip phone. However, it is very simple to use and will be great for older people. The buttons are large so they are easily read. The screen is a decent size too for a flip phone and everything can be read well. It has some modern features, for instance, it actually runs Android and you can access WhatsApp on it. It is a bit of both world, an older, simpler to use phone with modern features that are easily understood. I would personally recommend a modern ‘techy’ person to set this up for whoever is going to use it. I think older people may struggle to set WhatsApp up and stuff like that. However, once it’s all done, it is SO simple to use. Anonymous says: 13/03/2022 at This arrived well packaged in a retail box and inside you get the Phone, Charging Stand, Main Adapter with Cable, Carry/Shoulder Strap, Battery, Quick Guide and User Manual. This is one of the older style “Clam Shell” designs, which I still particularly like, even though it has been superseded by today’s modern designs. On the front, there is a clear display, which shows the day, date, and time. This will also show when a call comes through and a picture of the caller if you have one. There are also message, call and battery indicators, as well as a camera and torch. The rear has a pull off cover that give you access to the battery, sim card and Micro-SD card slots. The speaker also sits on the rear of the phone. The side have two buttons, a 3.5mm headphone port (something that is disappearing from a lot of phones) and a Micro-SD charging port. Flip the phone open and you get the bottom keypad and an upper touchscreen. The bottom key are quite large, making using it easier. The key work very much like that of normal phones. It does have several useful features thought. One is a direct link the compatible hearing aids. So, when you pick up call, it will automatically connect to your hearing aid — I believe these need to be the more modern Bluetooth ones. There is an Amplified sound button, which takes the sound from the speaker up by an extra 25db. Thirdly, you can program an SOS Emergency button. This works similarly to the triple press side button I have on my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. It is reasonably easy to set up, but you sort of half use the keyboard and then half use the screen. If you remember when use had to scroll through a key e.g., Number 2 was A, B, C & 2. You push the number 2 and then A, B, C & 2 appear on the screen and then you can select that from the screen directly. It was a bit fiddly to switching between lower and upper case. Generally ok to use but a bit of a pain when having to put in email addresses and house address. The phone uses Android 8.1. Instead of using Google Play, it uses something called “Aptiode” to access and download Apps. However, a lot of these are currently undergoing testing by TTfone to see whether they work properly with this phone or not. So, maybe a bit of trial and error. If you download an App that you do not want or does not work, then you need to go into settings/Apps & notifications to delete it. You cannot use any of the Google ones. I was able to get at least one navigation App to work. When setting up contact, there is an option to record the person’s name. However, every time I tried to do this, it would not save it. The phone does have quite a lot of features for seniors or people with other challenges but at the same time, in places, is not always the easiest to navigate around. I suppose it all comes down to what the person wants to do with the phone. More advanced phones have things like voice assistant, like Siri or Google Assistant, and switching Apps it much easier. You have things like voice typing and they will also connect to Bluetooth enabled hearing aids. They are of course, considerably more expensive and do not have easy to access physical keyboards. Making calls, using WhatsApp, SOS, Hearing Aid connectivity, Big Buttons and a relatively low price point make this a decent option for those looking for simple, less glamorous yet functional phone. I hope you found this review & photos interesting, informative, and useful. Thanks for reading. NB. For a sizing guide, squares in photos are 1cm. Easy to use in some places, slightly trickier in others. Good value phone. Anonymous says: 12/03/2022 at This is a basic phone that has some nice features that help individuals keep in contact with the wider world via Facebook Lite, YouTube and WhatsApp. It also has a function to create five emergency contacts on the phone and when the Emergency Assistance Button on the back of the phone is pressed, they will each be sent a text message with the location of the TT970 and the phone will then ring each number in till someone picks up. As well as being able to send location info to family and friends in an emergency. A great life-saving feature indeed. This phone is supposed to help the elderly or the uninitiated to keep in touch with technology without the faff of a smartphone, making something seemingly confusing easier to grasp and understand. And for the most part, it works. However, setting it up is rather convoluted. There is no qwerty keyboard and you need to repeatedly press the num buttons to rotate the alphabet. Reminiscent of the noughties texting indeed. Anonymous says: 11/03/2022 at This phone is simple but with some very accessible features for those with perhaps eyesight/hearing issues or even those who aren’t so tech savvy. Set up imo is straight forward however I could see some more modern features like WhatsApp etc being a bit more complicated for elderly relatives so I’d recommend setting it up for them beforehand for complete peace of mind. WhatsApp/Facebook are of course useful in this day and age but honestly the best features for me are being able to connect a hearing aid and the emergency contact feature; I tried this after set up and it did indeed send texts to all emergency contacts until someone answered/got in touch – this is absolutely invaluable imo, a real lifesaver should someone have had a fall and be stuck without help. The build quality feels good for the money and it takes nano sims so easy to obtain, the device is also unlocked and works flawlessly with EE/GiffGaff/Tesco sims we tried. I’d definitely recommend. RoxieEqnguyen says: 06/03/2022 at Very happy with this phone. Its holding battery quite long time. 2 days i didnt charge it. Good for any network and its very easy to use. Such phones will be perfect for oldery people. The have camera with 8mp. Overall. Im very satisfied with it. And surely can recommend it to all. Troy Fleming says: 05/03/2022 at My dad absolutely loves this phone. He is able to see the numbers easily. Was simple to set up. He loves that it can charge by just putting it to the stand up charger, as he finds it hard to fiddle with the wires. Very useful SOS button. Clear screen. It is loud enough when it rings and talking quality is great. Very pleased. Hollis8018 says: 04/03/2022 at This is a decent sized, simple flip phone with big buttons, and two screens. The outer screen is for info only, and the inner main screen is a standard touchscreen. It comes with a stand for charging which is quite refreshing and easy to use. It has a big SOS button on the outside which can be programmed to call somebody as a one touch operation. It has the usual connectivity, bluetooth, wifi, etc. It’s relatively straightforward to set up and uses standard protocols. There is a camera but it is fairly low resolution as is the touchscreen. Reasonably to be expected at this price point. It does all the basics really well, such as making and receiving calls and basic surfing. This is designed to a specific customer base and pricepoint, that customer being somebody not entirely comfortable with technology, who just wants the most basic of smartphones with easy to use controls and buttons. When set up correctly, this works really well but it is very basic as it is intended to be. JuanaRubin says: 02/03/2022 at This is like a modern version of the old classic flip phones you used to see adults have when you was a kid. When this popped up on vine, I instantly thought of my nan as they recently cut off there telephone line and I knew she loved regularly calling people. I thought this was nice as it even has a little charging hub for when not in use like landlines too. The phone itself mirrors the old flip phones but the numbers are larger and more visible. You can call and text like normal and even take photos and videos In Surprising good quality too. The sound is clear for both the caller and receiver and can also be put on loud speaker which is very loud! I like that it also has modern feature like WhatsApp built in and touch screen too. Very plain and simple, really easy to teach even the simplest of person. Arrived nicely presented and my Nan really appreciates it. She’s had it 4 days now and she has called me like twice a day since thanking me haha. Anonymous says: 01/03/2022 at Very good phone. The flip action is very smooth, and the operating system responds very well. Sound quality is also very good, and a fully charged battery lasts the whole day. The touch screen is also very responsive to inputs, and the picture quality of the camera is superb. Very good value overall. Anonymous says: 01/03/2022 at Big buttons, easy to read screen, great for elderly, it is a great phone it is neat, easy to use, and light weight The desktop charger is also great as the phone just sits on that and is always charged when you take it out. Simple and easy to use Anonymous says: 01/03/2022 at My dad that used to love his old Motorola flip phone but since the smartphone era I have not been able to replace it with anything that was both modern, efficient and easy to use. This TT970 has surely change things! All features for an older generations are there with a clear screen, good size dialing buttons a superbly loud speaker system, programmable dedicated emergency button and a really convenient cradle to charge the phone. Having a shape similar to his loved Motorola is also a plus point but what I mostly like is the attention to features and details made to create a modern phone that can use APPs programs like WhatsApp and YouTube while also simplifying call systems to be able to dial a number by simply choosing a familiar picture and the correspondent number. DocZeus says: 26/02/2022 at Update: The battery seemed to be losing power very quickly. But I just contacted the customer service via chat and they were super helpful and said they would send out a replacement battery. This arrived within a couple of days and I really must compliment their service and response to fixing the issue without any fuss. 5 star customer service I got this for my uncle as he likes to stay in touch but finds modern phones very fiddly Pros: – Lets you access WhatsApp and Facebook – allows elderly people to call someone via their profile pic rather than trying to read numbers – has an SOS function to alert preset numbers to an emergency – lets music or audio files to be played – has a cradle that can just charge the phone without messing around trying to slot the micro usb in (though you can charge it that way too if away from cradle) Cons: – Camera quality isn’t great for zooming in to magnify text – Set up with a wifi was a nightmare unless you have a very simple password because you have to use the alphanumeric keyboard – screen is tiny for watching things like YouTube Overall: I would say that this phone should work fine for the people who find modern phones too complex with, the caveat being that you may have to set everything up initially. I don’t think my uncle or anyone not tech savvy would have been able to negotiate all the menus etc SherrilHumphrey says: 20/02/2022 at I got this phone for my grandad as he struggles to use a normal smartphone. I thought this was quite a clever idea because it is a smart phone with buttons which are quite rare to find nowadays. The phone itself is perfect for making and receiving calls. I have managed to set whatsapp for him on the phone although its not great for video calls as the picture quality is not too great. The back camera is 8MP but when I took a picture on it the picture quality was not the best. It was a nightmare to try and figure out some of the menus and settings. The phone can be used with buttons and touchscreen as well. The phone has a really good SOS feature which can have 5 contacts saved in it and when this SOS button is pressed it sends a message to all of these contacts with the phone’s location. This is an excellent idea as it can save an elderly person’s life. Overall a good phone with interesting features. CharisBurrell says: 16/02/2022 at This is a beauty, not the flip phone I really wanted, but a beauty nonetheless less! Super easy set up, great sound and ease of use. Fits comfortably in your hand , it’s light and comfortable to use. It even has a headphone jack! I love the lock that prevents unintended dialing. The camera is very nice and takes sharp pictures, that are clear and bright. The ring tone is loud for those with less than great hearing and customizable. Its everything you could ask for in a non smart phone. It also has a feature that announces the numbers you are dialing, how cool is that? And yes you can turn it off. I loved my old flip Easyfone, which is why I went with this one, well built, and the quality I was used to. Now, the bad news, check with your provider first for compatibility. Keep your IMEI number handy they will need this. NathanielDavila says: 11/02/2022 at This is a flip phone with largeish buttons, and two screens. The outer screen stays visible when the phone is closed, and the inner screen is a touchscreen (although you can also use an arrow button to navigate). I have quite missed button phones and feel nostalgic about them, but when setting this phone up it was a nightmare to fill in my wifi password with its capitals and lowercase and special characters, as you can only use the numerical keypad to type. If you are not very techy, it is worth getting someone else to set it up for you. There are some basic versions of apps such as Facebook and Whatsapp, allowing you to stay in touch with people. Other functions don’t quite work as promised. For instance there is a magnifier function, which uses your phone camera to zoom in on text to allow you to make it bigger and more readable. However the camera is poor quality and the phone screen is also poor quality, so by the time you zoom in enough to increase the size of the text, the image has become too pixellated and blurry to read. Any more modern phone would perform this task better. The YouTube app is also very hard to use as the videos are tiny and really hard to see on the pixellated screen even if you don’t have a visual impairment. There are several very thoughtful functions. For instance the phone can be charged by plugging in a micro USB to the side, but it can also be charged via a desktop cradle which is much less fiddly for people with arthritic hands. The photo contacts can be set up so you can just press on a picture of someone’s face to call them. I think this would be very helpful for people with dementia. And of course the SOS button (on the outside of the phone) could be a lifesaver. There’s also a torch, FM radio which doesn’t need headphones to be plugged in, and wifi and bluetooth compatibility. There is a basic music player so you could put a memory card in and play music on the phone. There’s also a few GB of storage on the phone itself, which should be sufficient considering you can’t really download apps onto the phone. The battery life seems OK but I ran it down by 5% after about 15 minutes of exploring the phone, so it really depends how much you use it. On standby it should last well as there won’t be many programs running in the background. This is generally quite a good and well-developed basic phone, but the menus can be a bit complicated to navigate (I got stuck on the Whatsapp setup screen at one point, and as I didn’t have my sim card in the phone at the time I couldn’t continue with the setup, but also found it very hard to exit out of it, as the back button didn’t do the job). Also the magnifier function is a real disappointment. Overall, there are enough additional functions in this phone that it does appear more suitable for seniors than a standard cheap flip phone. But there are other senior phones out there which are much cheaper, so do compare your options.
