I use this to convert my Sony XM4s into a gaming headset for Xbox. I did not want to purchase a gaming specific headset when I already had these nice headphones to use. This product works great!

I like the mic, but I’ve found it doesn’t always stick straight out at 90 degrees flat, the pick up tends to tilt a bit. Friends say it’s a bit quiet, but clear. I think an amp may help, but if not I’ll buy something else.

Omdat ik al een goede hoofdtelefoon had is dit een geweldige hulpmiddel om er een gaming headset van te maken.
Geluid is erg goed en de microfoon is gemakkelijk te buigen.
    Prijs is ook prima!

    Geweldig!

Works well as a boom mic. I’ve got it hooked up to my Sony WH-MX3’s and plug them into my PS5 controller. Works good for party chat but my friends do say that the mic picks up a ton of background noise (probably from being omnidirectional). Either way, happy with my purchase though.

Got this for my Philips SBP headset and works flawlessly. The family and friends I game with say I sound clear but come in quiet sometimes.
Braided cord is long and well made.
Biggest issues I have is neither side is marked for mic input (which side you speak into) and the mic itself is flimsy and easily bent. So hopefully it last awhile. No bad for the price point though.

This is my second boom mic for my SHP9500s. The first was abysmal, this is better.
The problem is the microphone is very sensitive. In this case everyone gets to be deafened by my dog, whilst also hearing my gun shots if I turn the audio close to max on the xbox.
Its clarity is good, and its a solution. However there is room for improvement. The boom itself is VERY flimsy. barely holds up under the weight of the plastic mic cover. The inline controls are clumsy and cheap.
The cord is FAR too long. and the 3.5mm jack doesn’t have enough resistance to keep it from spinning easily out of place. I end up eating the mic if I look to fast to my right.

So far it still seems like the best option on the market.

As such. it still gets my recommendation due to there being no superior product that I have seen to date. No one wants to glue a mic onto their headphones. And gaming headphones are all closed back trash or have major QC/design issues (I am looking at you Epos).

I use Beyerdynamic headphones with detachable a cable and this mic is just the best I’ve ever got for recording sound quality in meetings. I don’t like standalone mics as they either catch too much environment or I have to sit right next to it and can’t move my head. Those are probably good for podcasts and youtube, but not for meetings and gaming.
This is my 2nd mic, first one worked for more than 5 years and then the mic started losing rec quality (cable was still good)., so I got a new one, hope it will work for another 5+ years!

This mic is perfect for both business and personal use. The mute button is easily accessible, the mic just at the right place near my mouth, it has good reception. I use this with Philips headphone for for PC games and Xbox game pass, no issue at all and good sound quality.

bought these for my partner to play warzone and have ‘comms’ with his team. He didn’t want to buy proper gaming headphones as he already had a good pair of earphones. So we found this for him to use until the earphones break.

Good quality mic, he has quite a deep voice so sometimes can be difficult to hear what he says. But the quality of the mic is great because he speaks and nobody (or myself) have issues hearing what he’s saying.

Great buy, and would recommend for those who don’t want to spend a fortune on headphones.

It’s simple to use and has a very clean natural sound. I dont like noise cancelation (especially when it is implamented badly) so I love this mic, but dont forget with this product you won’t have any.

The sound quality is better than the mics on any gaming headset I’ve heard. It’s good but a lavaliere mic can do better. It’s useful though since its one cable that plugs into your headphones, allowing for less wires on your setup. Good for travel too compared to full-blown studio mics. The volume adjuster and mute switch are nice to have. The clip is annoying though, it gets caught on things and does not make sense to have. Would recommend if you need a good value mic for gaming.

I got the sony xm4s and was trying to use them for PC gaming but apparently couldn’t use the built in microphone with other audio from my PC. This mic was recommended to me, and I have to say overall it works great. I did have some trouble initially getting it to work, though – at first when I plugged the splitters into the front ports of my computer it would only feed in static, but after checking another review here I tried plugging them into the ports on the back, and it now works perfectly.
It’s a great product in both function and design, and while initially I was wary about having to leave them plugged into the back of my computer (I like to unplug all microphones when not in use for security), the mute switch on the clip is a great detail, and let’s me just unplug them from my headphones when not using voice-chat.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI bought this instead of a gaming headset to use with my Sony headphones. I was skeptical at first because I tried a few alternatives that weren’t great, but these have held up well, work great, and I don’t get complaints on sound feedback when muting the mic in line. Cord is a bit too long, but it works well.

  19. Anonymous says:

For those who use these for gaming, the mute button is a switch on the side as opposed to a button you can easily and quickly press in. This is not ideal if you’re in discord with friends or in-game chat with other players and you need to sneeze or say something to someone in the room. You end up having to fumble with the in-line control to switch it off.

It is really a good cord, but it is soooo long and cumbersome to deal with while you are gaming. I Constantly unplug it, by sitting on it as I get into the game, or I got up to get something and did not realize I was standing on it.
Need to curl it like the old phone cords, almost want to give it a 3 stars as it is such a pain in the buttocks

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’ve had this mic since June, 2018. Been well over 4 years now, and I still use this mic almost every day. In these 4 years, I’ve used this mic on a PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC (using a PS4 and PS5 controller the whole time, even on PC) with absolutely no issues. I mostly play Call of Duty Warzone, but have also played other multiplayer games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Cold War, Vanguard and Last of Us. Never had my friends complain about not being able to hear me or my voice being too loud or hard to understand. The only issue I’d had so far is that the mute toggle on the wire has stopped working, which is easily countered by pressing the mute button on the PS5 controller. Other than that, I’m happy with the purchase considering it was only around $30 but has lasted me 4 years. Only reason I came here (and writing this review) was I’m thinking of getting a mic (not to replace the old one, but to have a new one that I can carry on my travels) and I thought I’d let everyone know how great this product is. You will not be disappointed.

There is good adjustment and quality of the sound. Simple and reasonable quality construction.

Boom arm is too weak so does not stay in desired position. I wanted it just off to the side of my mouth so I could set it to the lowest sensitivity and not pick up sound from my clicky keyboard, but I’ve had to wrap craft wire around the boom to strengthen it.

I had to switch to a gaming laptop instead of a desktop due to health. I used to have a blue yeti and was nervous about mic quality, as a lot of gaming headset mics still aren’t up to the quality of a USB mic. At least in my opinion, they’re good but not great. A friend recommended this mic to me and after watching a few reviews and sound tests, I decided to grab it.

When it first arrived I entered a call either my partner and he said it actually sounded as good as my Yeti. And my friends have also said the same when I asked, the only change being I was a little louder due to it being closer to my mouth. So had to turn me down on discord. The mute feature on the cable is great, as sometimes I need to mute quickly and struggle with finding the keybind on my laptop when I need to mute in a hurry(But that’s just a me thing, probably)

The one problem I have, is the mic doesn’t seem to stay in place, I’ll lift it up so it’s infront of my mouth instead of towards my chin. And after a few minutes it will fall back down. But overall? It’s such a small detail that I don’t really care.

Overall? Highly recommend. Especially if you can’t use a USB mic anymore for whatever reason. I also use the mic with Philips SHP 9500 I think they are?

This is a good bit of kit. The mic and cable is of a good quality. The volume and mic switch work well, but the housing for those controls is a bit plasticky. The recording quality is perfect for what I needed – improving my audio in meetings.

Out of the box these do not fit the WH-1000XM2, I needed to strip back a few millimetres of the plastic around the jack for these to click in securely. That isn’t an issue with this mic though, and I’m now very happy with how they work.

Got your own headphones, and finding build in mics don’t work on console? This is the solution. I don’t much like how the cable trails between my controller and headset but that’s hard to avoid, and in all other ways this is a great bit of kit.

Works really well with my Sony WH-1000XM3. Fits into the 3.5mm port in my headphones without any issue. The mic is great but I will say that it can pick up a lot of sound around you. I’ve had to go “push-to-talk” for some games due to this. But happy with my purchase as I definately have wanted to use my Sony headphones for gaming.

Ok I brought this to improve the mic quality of the Sony wh-1000xm3 and I honestly love it so much instant improvement on mic quality. It’s so easy to use and so versatile- wanna use it on an iPad/ iPhone grab yourself the right usb- aux adapter and and boom your chatting with amazing mic quality and no more worrying about that problem. Want to enjoy your wireless headphones on a console – boom plug this bad boy into them and connect to your controller and you are gaming in great quality for fraction of a price!

It’s so portable I honestly would recommend this to anyone who wants to have the option of improving your well loved headphones for a fraction of the price.

This mic is so much better than it has any right to be. I moved into a new place temporarily that I wouldn’t be able to use a computer desk (just dining table) recently. Previously I was using a $50 condenser mic with a desk boom arm. But with the new space constraints, I was looking for a solution that doesn’t take up any space.

I tempered expectations that it would sound pretty good, not great. But wow this thing sounds amazing. I get compliments in game or occasionally in meetings because of the quality. It sounds really nice out of the box.

But, if you’re fortunate enough to have a 3000 series Nvidia GPU (laptop in my case) you can download RTX Voice, it definitely takes it up a notch. Background noise is almost nonexistent. I was playing around reading some scripts online and the results are way closer to a professional voice over sound than it has any right to be, without any editing. It’s truly impressive.

The product itself is nicely designed. It adds very little weight to your headphones and the braided cable is a nice touch.

I only have 2 minor gripes. Personally I wish the shirt clip wasn’t there because I never use it and it’s just added weight. Also, the 3.5mm jack doesn’t fit as tightly as it could. On my laptop, the headphones plug in on the left side near the front, so it is possible to slightly unplug the headphones with your arm while using the computer.

After I move again here shortly and get my computer desk back, I don’t think I’ll be using the condenser mic again. That’s how good this mic is. Short of receiving a defective product (happens to every company) I don’t see how this mic could be anything short of 5 stars.

The mic is overly sensitive (it can pick up clicking on a laptop trackpad) and so I only recommend this for PC where you can use the Nvidia Studio software to enable RTX Voice, which does an amazing job at blocking out background noise.

  43. SvenWhitaker says:

     United Kingdom

The mic sounds very good, however it does pick up a lot of background noise. I have seen other reviews mentioning that it doesn’t plug in properly, however I believe they just haven’t pushed the aux in all the way since once this is plugged properly into your headphones it won’t fall out. The only complaint I have is that the plastic fob thing (not sure what it’s called) which you use to adjust the volume/mute the mic is a bit heavy and it can feel like it’s weighing your headphones a bit to one side, but this is a common issue with many headsets/mod mics so nothing unheard of. But all round a good mod mic – the braided cable feels good, and the mic sounds great.

So I went down the route of buying a cheaper USB condenser microphone as I’ve recently got into PC gaming and didn’t really have the budget left over for a Blue Yeti or similar. I wasn’t a big fan of how the beam got in the way of my monitors or how I had to have the thing really, really close to my mouth, so I thought I’d try something different. And this is fantastic – honestly. It blows the condenser mic away.

I’ve got some 1000XM3s I’m hoping to pair this with for work and hopefully gaming, but I do like the fact that I could just invest in some open back cans and stick this in them if needs be, rather than getting stuck down the whole pro gaming headset rabbit hole like I almost did. But yeah, absolutely spot on!

    Fantastic

I bought this for the Sony WH-1000XM4. I mainly use it for work and so far it’s worked really well.
Although the Sony WH-1000XM4 has an internal mic, I had to buy a separate mic for gaming to be used in the PS4.

Mainly, I use my headphones for work. No problem at all with pairing and having phone calls, meetings, etc.
When it comes to consoles, I had to get this V-MODA microphone for gaming. It’s worth buying, specially when you run out of battery.

Sound quality is great and high quality.

I highly recommend this product for any headphones with/without a mic. If you are gaming, this mic will definitely boost your communication. The sound is clear and it’s quite ergonomic. A gamer of 20yrs, I thought I would treat myself to some decent open back headphones(to hear my kids/wife when required) and after reading a bazillion reviews I went for some GameOne’s, however these had crazy clamping force and the mic was way too quiet.

back to the drawing board, I watched a glowing review of the V-MODA BoomPro and started looking into headphones that were compatible, I wanted a Sennheiser pair but they have a proprietary headphone port and I was concerned these would not fit and so instead opted for a pair of Philips Fidelio X2HR/00.

    What a glorious combination.

Mic works perfectly (according to my long term gaming buddies), and I get to enjoy incredible sound in comfort while still being able to hear the kids/wife with the open back design.

If you want to use the v-moda with a macbook, with the y splitter cable, ising the microphone into the 3.5 aux socket on the mackbook and the headphone outpout through say a USB connect DAC or DAC/AMP then you need to convert the y-cable into the macbook from a TRS 3 section to a TRRS 4 section, its going to cost 3.19 and I suggest this on Amazon – https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B084HCQ367/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Mic on these is excellent, fantastic value for the money

  59. Anonymous says:

It’s essentially random how badly the included splitter ruins my headphone/mic audio (probably due to a loose wire… or three) – often the mic simply doesn’t work at all, sometimes it works but sounds as if I’m underwater. Once it completely ignored any signal coming from the microphone and turned my headphone drivers into a mic – regardless of which of the split plugs was put in the mic jack. The splitter such a cheap piece of crap that the whole product would be more valuable without it. It usually manages to get the audio to my headphones at the very least, but so would a two dollar aux cable.

On my devices with four-pole jacks, the microphone sounds great and doesn’t affect the sound going to my headphones. Pity I bought the stupid thing for use with my PC which has only separate three-pole jacks for mic and audio. Buy only if you plan to use on a device with a four-pole jack, or if you budget for an extra splitter that doesn’t suck.

EDIT: I did some testing with my multimeter, and it seems like the microphone portion of the four-pole socket isn’t connected to any pin on the other side at all – and when it’s connected to the Boompro, it appears that the polarity of the headphones is incorrect (ie, what should be the left and right channels are connected to ground and the drivers’ grounds are connected to the left and right channels). The splitter my Boompro came with is measurably absolute trash.

After buying an adapter that actually works, the product is great. The headphone and mic signals are well isolated from each other, the mic sounds great and the headphone sound is not affected. Just make sure that you’re prepared for the possibility that you have to buy a new splitter.

I used this microphone to turn my Sony WH1000XM3s into a gaming headset, the sound output is extremely clear and crisp. The build quality is great and the Y adapter causes no feedback (many I bought to connect my headphones do).

If you already have a pair of quality headphones this is really a no brainer, connecting these to quality headphones will create a much better headset than any of those “gaming” headsets being sold. Also perfect to use on normal skype/zoom/team calls.

I got this because I had a pair of headphone (beyerdynamic custom one) with a detachable cable. However, they did not have a mic so I could not use them for gaming on my PS4. Also, the mic on my laptop was not that great.

But these work brilliantly! The sound quality is amazing! And they work with my laptop, phone, and PS4. No issues. The price is slighly steep, but it is definitely worth the sound quality!

You can control sound volume with a knob/scroll. You can also switch the mic on and off using a switch. They all work perfectly,

The cable is braded and everything feels high quality. Except the case of the volume/mic control. The plastic is not… fancy? OK, at this point I am expecting too much hahah

If your DAC doesn’t have a mic input this is likely not a gaming DAC. If it is, use the Y-splitter provided to separate the TRRS into the headphone and Mic.
I’ve previously bought the other boom mic from amazon for use with beyerdynamic DT240’s which is an awesome isolated gaming headset for under 100 ding.
I wanted to check out this V-moda mic with Fidelio X2 HR’s for a more open and larger sound stage.
The V-moda coming in at 30 is a modest price point and my friends noticed an improved clarity without me mentioning it.
My one critique is also regarding clunky volume control but just clip it on to your top, it’s 30 quid and sounds great.

Really good microphone and sturdy cable. The microphone output sounds like something from a studio microphone. My only issue is the length of the cable. I use this on a controller so the 3m length is annoying to manage, to fix this i just cable tied the ends. Wish there was an alterative to this built in, Still an amazing product. Don’t regret purchasing this at all

So much nicer having a mic attached to the headphone cable. Not in the way and good quality.
