Description : Gold Plated Shielded RJ45 Pass Through Connector Plug

The benefits of the Pass Through RJ45 connector:

Pass Through type RJ45 crimp connector: The order of the cabling can be checked twice by the pass-through design of the connector. Thus, the assembly process is much easier than the conventional type, which can reduce the error rate. Professional RJ45 crimping pliers are required for this.

You would think that a few molded chunks of plastic with a thin metal coating on it would be less expensive.

Got it for the plugs, I didn’t use the boots supplied. Plugs are sturdy, you can make a couple of mistakes without damaging any connectors when pulling cables back out. Was working with quite thick cable so it wasn’t the easiest of jobs to fit them in, but once the order was right, every single cable worked. No issues with any plug at all. Great quality. Regarding the boots, they don’t seem good enough for the purpose I needed to make my cables for. I’d have happily purchased the plugs on their own if I could get these, the boots are just more plastic waste in my opinion and unnecessarily adds to the price. But plugs are great!

Looking at the image and the title for the product it says that they are pass through connectors but I think that there is some confusion about what this means as has been commented on by other users. I find network wiring fiddly as there are so many wires and they have to be kept in the right order and getting them to lay flat and in the right place needs some practice (I am not a professional by any definition). You also need to have the right tools for crimping the connector together. I got the job done after a few initial failures.

If you haven’t already tried pass-through connectors then you need to, however, if you have you will know how nice they are to work with, these connectors, however, take that to a whole new level. They are very high quality and create a professional look and a solid connection every time.

Many pass-through connectors that I have tried haven’t had a 100% success rate however these have. I have also tested some other connectors from VCELINK and they also ha a 100% success rate so I can say with confidence that these connectors will not let you down.

I have been installing home and small business networks for over 30 years. In this time, I have tried many, many different products that not only give the best options for my clients but also help me complete jobs faster.

These VCELINK RJ45 Pass Through Shielded CAT6 Boots are by far the best I have ever used. Not only do they help me complete jobs a lot faster but the performance of them is for lack of a more detailed description, incredible.

Take it from me; whether you’re in the business or just updating or expanding your home network, you won’t find a better boot than these.

I’ll definitely be buying these from now on.

I honestly had my doubts, well i was wrong. I love these connectors. They are well made as a two part comnector and very clear instructions in annotated picture format. The main body with gold contacts and a gold plated screen and a strain relief in clear soft plastic that contains a clip guard. The strain relief actually engages into the body once the connections are crimped and made in the main body. You put the strain relief onto you cable cut back 3cm of sleeving, separate and straighten the wires by untwisting them then straightening. Then assuming T568B straight ethernet cable configuration then the the wires need to be wh/or, or, gn/wh, blue, bl/wh, gn, bn/wh and finally brown. Form the wires in that order into a nice flat bundle amd insert the body part of the RJ45 connector with the clip at the back, connections at the front facing you slide those wires into the body keeping that order and looking at the comnection pins wh/or should be left most and brown right most. Dont crimp yet. Slide the strain relief part and clip into body. Then crimp the connections using a rj45 crimp tool and cut the cables using face or edge cutting pliers. Finished really professionally and very nicely. Happy to recommend these quality connectors, Andrew

Not sure what to say to be honest. They are great value for money for the quantity you get. If you know what your doing they will work (ie know the order of your wires.) Not had one fail on me whilst crimping.

    Perfect ..

These were a little bit fiddly to work on due to the extra layer of shielding but the clips didn’t snap so that’s always a positive. Once they’ve been installed they’re not coming off easily and that’s exactly what you want. They work perfectly, haven’t had any signal loss ye

These clips are described as being CAT6 connectors and boots and to fair, they are the old CAT 6 quality.

RJ45 plugs have developed a lot since CAT6 and today’s standards are not of the sheer hard plastic of yesteryear, which this product uses.

The quality of the RJ45 plugs is critical and yet these may be fine for CAT5e or CAT 6 cables, I would not use them on a CAT7 or 8. The reason being the plastic clips are the one part which I am most critical of as they tend to break very easy. Had these connectors been made of a rubberised PVC material, which is what is used nowadays then the plugs would have got a 5* rating from me. However, they are made of plastic and are not rubberised and therefore are not of the standard expected today.

These connectors and boots do deserve the 4* rating though as they are ideal for repair jobs and for projects where cable is being passed through drilled holes. That is what these connectors and boots will be used for, by me. Rather than passing cable under doors, passing it through drilled holes in doorframes is much tidier. So, I will simply cut one end off oa cable, pass it through the frame and then connect these. It’s a simple enough job but I would have liked these to be of a better quality material than the old, hard plastic that is so unreliable.

I do recommend these connectors and boots as they are good for repair jobs but I would not touch one of my CAT7 or CAT8 cables with them.

If you haven’t tried the pass-through type connectors previously, they are slightly easier to work with because you don’t have to worry so much about getting all the separate cable strands to a length where they all meet at the same point at the end of the connector. It’s also easier to see if you have the ordering wrong as the cable sticking out at the end makes the markings clearly visible, whereas on non-pass-through connectors you are viewing through plastic which could pick up light reflections or just generally give a less clear view of the cable markings.

If you are someone that makes up a lot of cables or is embarking on such a project, you will save a lot of time by using these types of pass-through connectors.

I liked that the packaging included pictorial instructions similar to those shown in the product photos but in greater detail.

The provided boots are the type that stop as they meet the connector and latch on inside, rather than the types that go over the outside and hide part of the connector. This is likely intentionally so none of the gold-coloured connector is covered over.

I’ve never seen steel connectors corrode, but I guess it might be an issue for some and something the gold plating might help with. Nobody is likely to see these connectors once in use if the gold is purely there to be a status symbol. The gold does not enhance the performance of the network cable, but for some gold connectors symbolise better performance and I guess there is a need to cater to customers that just want everything to be premium.

If you don’t have one of the crimping tools that cuts the excess cable at the same time as it crimps, you can still use a ‘normal’ crimping tool with these connectors. However, you will need to manually cut off the excess cable poking through afterwards. There is no real difference to the result whichever way it is done.

If you want the correct tool to go with these kinds of connectors, something like the ‘VCE GJ670BL Through Crimping Tool’ would work well and it is currently available on Amazon separately.

Metal shielded RJ45 capable of ‘up to’ 1000Mbps. These are a unique design having their own ‘Boots’ The photo shows the regular ‘non-shielded RJ45’ and the boots do not fit them, although the ‘older’ plug will fit in this newer boot. The ‘new ‘ boot does not have the same baulk as the old one and does make depressing the toggle a little easier, but I can’t see any other real advantage to them. Having said that, they are very tidy RJ45’s that fit the same tool and take cable in the same way. The shielding is probably an advantage and aesthetically they do look a little ‘richer’. They seem very decent plugs, priced well and work perfectly so another smiley five stars then!

These are really interesting connectors: they come in two pieces, the connector and the boot. While many connectors have separate boots, these boots actually link up to the connector when you crimp it, which keeps it all tight and secure. So there’s no way for the separate boot to slip along the cable away from the connector, potentially exposing the clip to things it can catch on and snap off.

But what I really like is how the individual conductors in the cable pass all the way through the connector prior to crimping. It’s a great way to ensure that you have the individual conductors in the right order prior to crimping: no more squinting through the plastic to see that everything is in the right place, you can see the conductors directly and see if they’re right on wrong.

The only tip I can impart is to make sure you keep the boot pushed up securely against the connector when you crimp. If you don’t, it’s possible to crimp the connector and miss the little locking tabs on the boot, and now the boot has nothing that will keep it next to the connector. There’s no way to get that boot into the connector once crimped, so you have to clip it off and start over. But outside of that, it all works great.

I ordered these to make repairs on a few network leads that have broken retaining clips so the connector wouldn’t stay in the socket snugly. I also like to cut some cables to a shorter length when going to devices that only require 20 to 30cm or so, I find that it keeps the cabling so much tidier than having full length leads running to multiple devices.
The quality of these connectors is terrific, they come with the gold plated connector and a separate piece for the retaining clip that simply slides on.
These are passthrough connectors so you need to make sure that you have the correct tool for connecting this type, if you haven’t then it is a worthwhile investment as they are so much easier to fit and more reliable than the non passthrough type.
Once you assemble the connector and pass the wires through, you then simply use the correct tool to crimp and cut the excess wires automatically and at the same time.
The connectors when fitted look superb and work flawlessly, the gold plating enhances the connection and looks so much better than the steel or plastic ends. The release clips are also very strong and secure the connecter into the socket with a satisfying click that then completes a very snug fit of the repaired cable.
    Great quality and good value,
    Recommended.

Used with solid copper Cat6 cable. Effortless to attach, work well and no failures thus far. I know these are good quality as genuine Cat6 cable is quite thick and can be difficult to attach if the connectors are poor quality so stay clear of cheaper ones.

Fitting RJ45 connectors on Ethernet cables used to be a forbidding task. This style of connector has changed all that as it is now much more straightforward. The outer covering of the Ethernet cable needs to be stripped back and the wires straightened and aligned in the correct order. The instructions advises cutting the cables at a slight angle to aid threading into the connector. Once threaded the wires go right through the connector and stick out of the top so you can check the wires have gone through the correct holes before crimping. The old-fashioned technique involved doing the crimp and hoping for the best.

I cannot imagine attempting to fit an RJ45 connector without a proper crimper and a testing tool. The testing tool fits on both ends of the completed cable and allows you to confirm you have correctly connected all the wires. I have had my crimping tool for some time so it is not specially designed to fit these connectors. I think some crimpers cut off the part of the cable that sticks out of the end of the RJ45 connector as part of the crimp, I just cut mine with a sharp knife after I have crimped the connectors on.

Be warned that I did try putting one of these connectors on a flat Ethernet cable but this did not work. The reason for this is because the wires in the flat cable I was using were too fine. With that exception all the connectors I have put on conventional cable have tested and worked first time.

These are standard RJ-45 Ethernet plugs for use with CAT5 or CAT6 cable. They have an attractive gold finish on the outside, but as this only goes around 3 of the 4 sides, it has no screening effect; it’s just cosmetic.

Unlike some plugs, these are effectively a single piece; you push the cable ends straight into the plug rather than into a separate insert. On balance, this is slightly less fiddly than the two-piece plugs, and it is easy to check that you have each wire in the correct slot before crimping because they can protrude out of the end.

The plugs all come with a clear strain-relief boot which also protects the lock lever; a nice touch.

These aren’t particularly cheap, but they will do the job, and the gold colour looks quite smart!

I was always wondering why they produce the stupid LAN cables.
If you use a very tiny and soft ethernet cable, it is quite common that te cables switches inside the connector as you put them in.
    Not anymore with this connector.
Elegant and brillinat solution – just cut the wires longer, push it through the conector – recheck the cables order again and crimp it. Then cut the wires which sticks out from the connector and you are done (it is easy as winking 🙂
I like it – thank you very much!

I was waiting for many years, and finally i got them!

I’ve used exclusively pass through plugs for the past year or so when making up cables, because they make life ever so much simpler when wiring up RJ45 plugs. I’ve dropped from rejecting 3 out of 4 attempts that I’ve made when putting the cables together to getting it right every time, so that’s a major saving on time, money and frustration. I’m afraid

It’s nice that they’re gold plated, because it makes the finished cable look prettier, but I can’t help wondering whether or not that makes a realistic difference to the performance of the plug. The speeds I get with these are the same as I get with non-gold plated, so I have my doubts…

I don’t use the clear boots supplied, because I have tons of boots left over from years ago and I like to colour code my cables (red for switch, green for PC1, blue for PC2, purple for Sky box, yellow for printer, and so on). This makes it easier to unravel the cables when I want to move things around without having to use a cable tester, so the clear boots supplied will sit in the back of my cupboard until my next big clear-out.

The connectors are good, nicely finished, and produce a professional standard connection. It does say in the product description “tools are not included in the package”, so I was not expecting to find this in the package – everything that I expected to find in there was present and correct.

I’d recommend them to anyone looking for good quality connectors and if you’ve never tried pass through connectors before, give these a try – you’ll be thrilled (especially if you cut the wires at an oblique angle before threading them, it makes life simpler).

    Nice high quality RJ45 connectors.

I like how you can feed the wire right through the connector and it snips the ends off. Much easier for liming them up and making sure they’re the same length. Just one less thing to worry about.

Anyone who has or still does fit these plugs on the end of CAT cable will know what a pain it is to get this right?
I normally have quite a high error margin with many traditional plugs spoiled due to incorrect terminations.
I have tried loads of different ones over the years but none quite like these.
When I first saw them I was expecting physical ports to guide and thread each individual strand in place next to the blade? This is not quite the case. It is actually much simpler than that. Once you have separated the conductors a simple channel ensures each leg is kept in place.
I have used similar systems in the past, where the cable ends protrude beyond the plug then simply require trimming once inserted. This principle is great because you can double check the colour codes before you make the final connection. This might not look pretty but it works well. 568A&B, straight and cross overs can be achieved with these plugs.
I like the gold coloured plastic, although not serving any other purpose but cosmetic it does make them stand out amongst the crowd. The blades themselves is copper alloy, this is pretty much the standard in Comms wiring.
The plastic sleeve is not my favourite feature. It is quite rigid, but it does the job.
Good clear, concise instructions with pictures are included.
I wouldn’t mind trying the VCE crimping tools to see what they are like?

    Pretty good really

Having looked at the pictures on the product page I was half wondering if these excellent plugs came with a crimping tool and wire stripper. For the avoidance of doubt, they don’t – you need to have those already. I’m fairly sure that the seller has no intention to mislead in this regard, but I dropped off a star as I think it should be made clear that the tools are NOT included.

The plugs themselves (and the boots they come with) are excellent and work very well. I have run cat5 cable between my garage and house (20M or so). Despite the cable being specified to 1Gigabit and being in a tube, the equipment (switches and router) at each end has reverted to 100Mb/s due to high error rates. But, that cable was done with old style connectors (left over from a very long time ago) and I wondered if cutting those off at both ends and putting these on instead would remedy the problem.

Yesterday I did exactly that and yes, so far the cable has stepped up to providing 1Gbit/sec! I will update this review if that changes. So, these solved a problem for me. You get 25 plugs in the pack – but you need to bring your own wire stripper and crimper tool. Also, the instructions glibly mention T568B without explaining that this is (among other things) one standard specification of what order the wires go on the plug. T568B has its own Wikipedia page where the novice can obtain that info.
