You know what you’re getting with Victorinox and this doesn’t disappoint.
I live in the USA but bought this as a gift for a friend in the north of England. I got a phone call earlier today that he couldn’t have been more pleased. He said that he couldn’t believe how sharp the blades were. In baseball lingo this gift hit it out of the park in every way. In the 40 years since we first met I never heard him this elated..

There are some changes to it , the magnifying lense is a clear plastic housing with a high quality glass lense ,this was changed a couple of years ago from a rather poor one piece Clear plastic effort ?
The only other real change was to the file this is now stainless steal the old one being chrome plated and quite brittle ! So this is a real improvement, watch your nails ?This time I got it in black as this was the offer and smart it is ! Ordered Friday got it Sunday , amazing service again from amazon

Als kleiner Werkzeugkasten fr unterwegs bestens geeignet. Gewohnt hervorragende Schweizer Qualitt. Fr die Hosentasche aber fast zu gro und zu schwer. Eher Jackentasche oder Rucksack.

Swiss Champ is very good, but came damaged from Amazon W, so refunded and got Swiss Handyman. Handyman a bit less bulky, but missing Philips screw head that comes on the Champ.
With hindsight think I would prefer the Swiss Cybertool 41 or Cybertool Lite, but nevertheless would be happy with the Champ had it been in new condition, as described.
After finally getting this I must say that I was impressed as usual. Have had one before which got damaged by my son who managed to break a blade.

Es ist ein wirklich sehr gutes Messer. Wie immer top Qualitt von Victorinox.
Ich besitze auch das Huntsman und ich muss sagen im Vergleich ist der Swisschamp ein ordentlicher Klotz. Ich habe Handschuhgre 10 und es liegt ziemlich gut in der Hand.
Freue mich schon drauf das Teil im Wald und an der Arbeit zu testen.

Can’t say anything negative about this item, everything about it feels quality and it’s stood up to everything I’ve thrown at it so far. Size wise i prefer this model over the smaller/thinner models, it just feels more comfortable to use, especially when using the saw and pliers. At the time of purchasing the red model was slightly cheaper than the black. However, after seeing both models side by side I decided to go with the black version, it looks fantastic against the stainless steel! All in all the Swisschamp is definitely worth 50, wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.

Lost several Victorinox knives but never broken one. Undoubtedly one of the most useful items in my entire life. Everything works, the quality is superb and they are surprisingly tough. I have used and abused various models, they hold their edge well and the scissors actually work! So useful for precise little jobs and also willing to have a go at much bigger tasks than they’re really designed for. In my opinion Victorinox knives are probably the best product ever made!

Fantastic little tool with everything you nee, even some things you never realised you needed so much.
As usual Victorinox come to the table with their very high standards of craftsmanship. Looks really smart in gloss black instead of the more common livery of red. All the tools are very well made and have a good positive click when they are locked open. I bought their black leather pouch to keep it safe and a paracord which lets you slide the penknife easily from the pouch. Cheaper nylon alternatives would not do this mighty fine piece of hardware justice.
Swiss Champ, the name say’s it all. Simply the best.
Or at least, I did. These have a habit of getting stolen on building sites 🙁

Built like a tank. Slightly heavier than I anticipated, all tools look purposeful and useful. They open and click shut with the reassurance of a Mercedes door. A handsome beast that might just protect me in a “survival” context, gore blimey, there is even a magnifying lens to start a fire in the woods. so, suitably tooled up, I can face the next crisis fully confident that at last, I have the equipment.
I loved this device for many years and after taking it around the world it me I finally lost it after my return home.

Das messer ist fr den “Jeden Tag Gebrauch” sehr gut einsetzbar, weil es klein und handlich ist. Ich kann es sehr gut weieter empfehlen. Lieferung war wie immer bei Amazon sehr schnell und gut verpackt.
Comparada con otros modelos de gama alta de la marca, se la ve que es la ms “genrica”, que te vale tanto para salidas de campo como para trabajo y hasta para comer con ella si se tercia. Por eso me decant por este modelo, porque si quieres una multi-usos para trabajos ms especializados, hay mejores opciones.

Hatte schon mehrere Schweizer Offiziersmesser. Darunter auch exkat dieses Modell. Nachdem ich dessen Vorgnger allerdings nach knapp 10 Jahren einwandfreien Einsatz verloren habe, musste schnell ein neues her.
Die Qualitt ist nach wie vor Top. Die Verarbeitung sucht ihres gleichen. Nicht mehr und nicht wenige

Do your research.. If this is the one you want, you will not be let down at all, especially by the quality. I love mine, well worth the investment (I bought the victorinox leather case for this too) and will last many, maaaany years, even if slightly abused I suspect. It is very high quality. When I first got it, I used to open tools up just to look at and admire them. What does that tell you? 😛
My first thought after putting the knife in my hand was- its huge, I quicky put it my my pocket and walked round the house just to get a feel what it was like. Its actually not that bad! It tends to hang upright in my pocket which is a good thing as you dont have a horrizontal bulge bulging through the material of your jean wear. I played with the knife all evening and actually woke up this morning with it in my hand — Yes, I love the darn thing and the black finnish is outstanding (Well done Victorinox and thanks for producing such an outstanding product). There are a couple of things I could point out but these are only my opinion, 1, the awl/sowing tool would be best positioned opening out at the top of the knife rather than the middle and the magnfying glass, although very powerful its cheap and nasty and could quite easily break if your not careful when using it, other than that the knife is great and suits my purposes.
Brought one of these in Austria on a trip about 20 years ago. Still going strong. Been abused big time but still hanging in there. Only gripe is unlike Gerber, tools do not lock in place so just be careful when cutting and sawing. Pliers could be bigger to make it even better.Done everything from saw down trees to break into houses (my own). Couldn’t do without it.
Top quality product, made out to be an amazing parting gift although it wasn’t planned that way 😉 looking to purchase one for myself next time around.
Should also consider a leather pouch as the knife is slughtly bigger and heavier than your average pocket tools 😉

One thing this has got that the Victorinox Cybertool 41, 41 Functions, Color: Translucent Red doesn’t, is the magnifying glass, which has proved useful for examining the damage on busted cables.
I bought this to replace my trusty swiss champ that is now over 30 years old but still good but now lives in the car for emergencies
I bought this to replace my Leatherman wave (also an excellent tool) as my everyday carry multi tool,
largely because it is fully UK legal (no locking blades).
To my surprise I’ve never been left wanting for a tool that’s on my leatherman, and the scissors are much better
than on the Leatherman too. Plus that little toothpick is more useful than you’d think!
As to be expected, the actual knife blades are exceptionally sharp, and have yet to feel dulled after a year+ of
careful/moderate use.
I love mine in black, has a more modern feel I suppose.
Would recommend to anyone, just buy it, no second guessing, purchase now! haha.
I love this pocket knife, I have been using it for four years now and it still works and looks great.
Sehr schnes Werkzeug, es ist hochwertig und stabil verarbeitet und erfllt die Erwartungen vollkommen. In schwarz sieht es besonders edel aus. Am Schlsselbund ist es allerdings zu schwer, daher ist das Grteletui dazu empfehlenswert.
AS usual this penknife comes up with the goods it has proved invaluable on my belt in the leather pouch I bought for it, when I’m working or out walking or playing it finds a hundred uses as these little knives do, well impressed and was a good buy in my eyes…
Eine – wie ich finde – wichtige Angelegeneit zur Gre, die so oft genannt wird und auch strend genannt wird: Ich finde es eben nicht. Das Swisschamp ist etwa 1cm breiter als ein vierlagiges anderes gnstigeres schweizer Taschenmesser (Explorer oder DeLuxe Tinker) und gerade das ist sein Vorteil beim Transport in der Hosentasche.
Ich trage manchmal relativ enge Jeans. Viel Platz ist da nicht mehr fr ein Messer. Aber es muss eins mit in den Alltag. DIe dnneren rutschen dann alle schief und liegen quer in der Hose. Nicht sehr angenehm, es beult aus und trgt sich nicht schn.
Das Swisschamp hingegen bleibt – AUFGRUND seiner breite – einfach senkrecht in der Tasche. Es ist quasi kein verrutschen mgich. Das Teil trgt nicht unangenehm auf!
Ich wei nicht, ob das sonst noch jemand beobachtet hat, aber das ist ein besonderes Merkmal, weswegen ich es uneingeschrnkt auch fr edc Gebrauch am Mann/Frau empfehlen kann. (edc = jeden Tag)
Im Vergleich zum Explorer, der nur 6 Euro weniger mit Kuli kostet und zu den ganzen Modellen mit Taschenlampe, die mehr kosten muss ich sagen, bietet der Swisschamp das meiste frs Geld. Die TaLa beim Mountaneer bspw. war sehr dunkel und wirkte recht billig.
Ich will jetzt nicht auf so ein Preis Leistungsgefasel heraus. Das ist bei den schweizer Messern fast schon berflssig. Nein, es geht mir hier um die Praktikabilitt. Und die ist hier besonders ausgeprgt. Die schwarzen Griffschalen sehen sehr edel aus, man hat etwas in der Hand und nicht nur so ein Messerchen.
Fr mich ist der Swisschamp der Inbegriff des schweizer Messers. des Doitall at every time macgyver tool.
Dafr spricht, wie bereits erwhnt eben die Lupe, aber auch der Kuli, Pinzette, Zahnstocher, Philips Schraubendreher, der senkrecht heraus kommt, Sge, feile und am oberen Teil des Messers nicht nur den Korkenzieher mit Minischraubendreher, Pakethaken und Ahle mit Lock, die recht stabil rberkommt, sondern auch noch eine Art Mini Stechbeitel.
Die Qualitt ist hervorragend, wie immer.

Fantastic knife in a cool black. It has come in use so many times for my friend who I brought it for. He has used it for camping expeditions and when on holiday (though you have to put this in with your main luggage and not carry on luggage!)
It has so many nick nacks like sewing needle, cork screw, mini saw, bottle opener, magnifying glass and the standard knives which are super sharp so be careful when taking it out. I also got the case to go with it which protects the outer casing from wear and tear when not in use and fits nicely on a belt strap.
I cannot praise this product enough, definately a good buy.

This is my third Victorinox Knife and i found it brilliant it has all these functions for every day use and when i am going for camping. The black colour differentiate it from the original red and i prefer it. The only minor disadvantage the knife is heavy so definitely you need a pouch to carry it with you.

What an amazing pocket knife.
I bought this knife to replace one I’d had for years, after I broke a blade. This one had more functions, and with the exception of the magnifying glass (which feels a bit cheap and flimsy), everything on it works really well. I honestly couldn’t recommend this knife (or indeed, any Swiss Army Knife), highly enough!
I saw the price of this and just had to buy it, 32, what a bargain for what you get, quality steel, well made, just the right size to use all of the tools comfortably, even though it’s black, which i normally wouldn’t go for, it looks really cool in hand. Well done Victorinox for a great piece of kit, and thanks a lot amazon for making it a bargain buy!
Swiss Army knives fall into three main categories; the `basic’ models which typically have seven blades, and are `standard’ size, these are usually around twenty quid each.
Then there’s the midrange, and cost around 45 – a lot more functions, about twice the thickness and weight.
Finally the `top end’ which are big, chunky and are in my opinion aimed at collectors rather than having a real practical use, and can cost up to 600 each!
The Swiss Champ Black falls into the middle category – as the name suggests it has a black body, as opposed to the traditional red, beyond that it is very little different.
It’s still made to the same exacting and high standards – there’s probably more tools than you’ll ever need in a lifetime, but there is always a certain level of satisfaction knowing whatever you encounter there’ll be a tool to suit!
Short of doing an engine stripdown, this’ll do most jobs you need a pocket knife for.
Really pleased with this purchase. I was given a white Swiss Army Knife as a gift about 25 years ago; I still have it and use it. I wanted a new one with a few more tools, though, and I think its fair to say this fits the bill. The quality of the build hasn’t changed in that time and I can see myself using most if not all of the tools. Given the number of them, the knife is understandably bulky, but it just about fits in the pocket.
I was fortunate enough to purchase this from Amazon during a promotion. However, I was planning to pay the current price and would happily do so now based on what I now know. Thoroughly recommended.

Dieses Messer ist so robust verarbeitet, wie mann es nicht von anderen Herstellern (Wenger, ect.) findet.
Ich werde dieses Messer in 30-40 Jahren meinem Sohn vererben und ich denke das auch er ein Leben lang daran freude haben wird.
Das SWISSCHAMP ist mit allem ausgestattet was man im “Outdoorbereich” bentigt. Besonders gut gefllt mir die einfache Handhabung und die massive Verarbeitung. Hervorheben mchte ich beim SwissChamp auch die Eisensge/feile, die mann in dieser Qualitt bei anderen Modellen vergeblich sucht.

I have used and abused almost every tool on this knife, the blades are sharp and need little in the way of sharpening, the metal saw and file are very good. the wood saw is as good as a bahco laplander for the size, the phillips screwdriver has come in useful many, many times. the scissors are my first choice (and most used tool) the can opener is very good and the pliers are tougher than they look.
I also own a Gerber Legend but the Victorinox is carried more often due to the UK legal blade. Would recommend to anyone who was looking for a good alrounder, and to anyone who thinks its a bit too big, ive never noticed the weight and it fits perfectly in my small jeans pocket.
I tresure this knife, its probably my most important possesion.
I bought Victorinox Swiss Army Swisschamp Knife Black. Its multi-functionality is amazing and it is a perfect present for men.
Have own several different (not Victorinox) pocket knifes and multi-tools, decided to bite the price and give it a try for Victorinox. As I wanted single item for most of the work, decided to buy this Champ one. And boy, I am glad i bought this one. It has all I need for the moment and will ever need, I think. The build quality is just amazing, it feels solid, heavy, sturdy. I think not easily breakable. The blades are sharp (cut my finger the other day), and other tools are nice too (though didn’t have a chance to use most of them). But I think this knife will last for a long time. I am sure glad I bought it. Highly recommend for everyone.
Leathermans may have blades made of high-tech fancy steels and have diamond dust files, but my Charge took nightly opening and closing exercises before it loosened up. And it was 160 in the U.K.!
If the weight/size of this tool isn’t an issue you won’t be disappointed. If it is, buy a SAK with less tools… and you’ll still be happy.
If you are thinking whether to go for this one or a smaller model, I’d say go with this one as you aren’t likely to carry a swiss army knife in your pocket at all times so the weight isn’t a factor.
Handiest tools for me – knife, tweezers, small screwdriver, bottle opener, can opener and scissors.
I’ve got it very dirty with food, left it so it caked and sticky, but a quick soak and a wipe and it’s like new and as smooth as ever. Very well built.
I have owned one of these knives (red one) since 1992 and it is still going strong. only need to get the blades sharpened professionally, other wise all the other bits and pieces are working as they should.
I personally would buy from amazon because they are reliable and also you cannot get this item for this price in any shop. (well I haven’t seen them for this price at any shop).
Would recomend to anyone. Very tough and handy item to have in your tool bag or in your back pack.

In Addition:
There are times when a job needs doing and I reached for my Swiss Champ, feeling at a loss with the need for a pair of pliers; to hold something tightly when my fingers weren’t able to do the job. This has occurred several times, where a pair of pliers seemed to be the only thing missing and the job simply could not be done without them. I would recommend the Leathermans Skeletool CX in accompaniment to the Swiss Champ.

The knife is bulky and is best suited for putting in a backpack or bag as opposed to in a pocket, this is good I think as it prevents the 15yr old carrying the knife around when he ought not.
It looks great in black!!
So what about this knife… it’s really very good indeed. I thought it would be over the top and feared I might be buying it just because it’s the biggest and the best and it would just be a big, heavy penknife that I’d never use. However, apart from the fact that I DID buy it because it’s the biggest and the best, I have to say it’s an amazingly useful tool. It’s not as big as I thought it would be, and it’s not too heavy (although it’s not what you’d call light either). The engineering of things like the pliers and the scissors show the quality of the knife. The pliers in particular have the quality of a surgical instrument. I don’t know what grade of stainless steel they’re made from, but it is clearly very high. It is completely rust proof – you never see staining or even slight rusting on Victorinox blades. Mine has already been in the sea and did not suffer any ill effects. You can genuinely use all the tools in there – except for the sewing eye on the reamer. I have no idea how to use this. There are no instructions and I couldn’t find anything on the web. Maybe someone will enlighten me.
So that’s the plus side, what about the negatives?
I resent paying more for a black casing – I felt I was being ripped off, but I paid it anyway.
I can’t help but feel they could make the casing out of something better than the soft plastic they use. It scratches very easily and on my older knife, it is looking very worn and has had to be glued back on. Even though I have the leather pouch for this knife, and I haven’t had it very long, the casing is already scuffed and scratched. However, I recognise that this won’t bother some people who will regard it more as a tool to be used (and therefore scratched).
The magnifying glass will undoubtedly snap off (and I’m the most careful person you’re likely to come across).
That’s it though. Like someone else here said, a great gift for a man (especially for your dad). Wish my kids had bought me one, but I had to fork out for it myself…
