Had a problem trying to connect one of my cameras, contacted customer services got Judy who was extremely helpful and after 2 or 3 emails of helpful information I got it back on line
This is a great camera at a very reasonable price but unfortunately it developed a fault after 14 months and would not connect to the wifi despite all of the efforts of Judy at Wansview. I am extremely grateful for all she did in trying to resolve the issue which resulted in the camera being replaced thanks to he
Good camera until the WI-FI started dropping out after one year, losses WI-FI after 4 hours of being on you can resets by powering off and on but only lasts short time so now useless.
wanview contacted me about WIFI issue and replaced the camera with new, Thank you Wanview
EDIT – After my comments below were reviewed by the supplier, they contacted me and tried to resolve the issue. In the end they supplied a replacement camera. I must say the customer service was excellent, best I have ever experienced. Specifically a lady named Becky who was brilliant in her efforts to resolve. .Used it to keep an eye on the dogs. Every time I move the camera by the console it disconnects and needs fully re adding. No function option for the sd card any more. Just not appearing in the settings. Second one of these. First one lasted two years. Second a year. Garbage.
Camera clarity very good, can install easily, best costumer services.quick resolves the queries.highly recommend.
It works,no problems so far,no issues with conectivity,i think is worth the money for what it is.
I wouldn’t be without this now. So useful for checking in on my puppy during the day and night!
Simple to set up and operate. I was so happy to see the dogs sleeping peacefully while I was out.
I bought 3 of these cameras as my partner had recently had a major operation and I wanted to make sure all was well when I had to return to work.
They are FANTASTIC !!
I was bamboozled by all the technical information that seems to come with items like this when you are trying to make your choice on which ones to buy. (Cloud,Wi-Fi, do you have to subscribe, how do multiple cam connect etc). It almost put me off the whole idea.
But I’m so glad I stuck with it.
I installed the app on my phone and registered (email address and password). That’s it.
Easy to follow instructions. Installing one camera at a time. I had all the cameras installed in about 20min.
Everything worked exactly as the instructions said. Once plugged in the cameras actually tell you what to do next ! AMAZING
I chose not to register for cloud storage as only require real time access. There was no pressure to sign up for additional storage features, which was a refreshing change. Each camera also has a micro SD card slot so that’s another great storage option if required.
As for performance- I couldn’t ask for anything better. So easy to use via the app. Fantastic picture quality and all kinds of additional settings to personalise to your individual requirements.
10/10 I can’t recommend these cameras highly enough.
Product arrived well packaged. Easy to follow instructions. I had trouble connecting to the router so contacted the company by email which Judy promptly resolved my issue. I would recommend this camera. The picture quality is outstanding.
Really good camera, great picture quality and ability to move around the room. Sound is really good also. I’m really impressed as bought to keep an eye on my dogs whilst home alone
Camera worked very well for a few months but then I couldn’t connect to it. The help team were very supportive with good communication via email and it’s back up and running again. It was a WiFi issue which they helped me to sort out.
I am currently using the product as baby monitor and have to say i am impressed with picture quality which is unusual as baby monitors go, you can see everything perfect and in full detail, even in night vision mode. Camera has a wide range of movement so you can point exactly where you need, and also comes with accessories to mount o the wall in case you need to.
The only issue I see is that I do not get notification on my phone if the baby moves/cries, I basically have to open the app and turn on sound if I’m too far away to hear the baby myself (like in the garden or something) but then again might just be me, I have a newborn and a toddler so have not had time to play around with the app to see if that is even possible.
FULLY RECOMMEND.
I’ve had these cameras a couple of weeks now and they are great. Replaced somer older other brand cameras with this and for the price they are awesome. Picture quality is really good compared to my old ones even though they are same resolusion. The zoom feature works well do and I can actually see things properly! App connected straight away so no problems there, a thumbs up from me. You can share visibility with other users too.
Perfect for keeping an eye on things if you go away etc. Can record video or pics to phone and save on SD card you can place in camera. I setup motion alerts incase doors open during the night. It sends a pic straight away showing my oldest sneaking in haha
I love the Q5, now have 2 in the house and looking for more, they’re fantastic to keep an eye on things. I had some wifi issues when acquiring the second camera but that was taken care of by the customer services team in an instant, I was really impressed with their attention to detail and kind way of dealing with me in my stressed moments. Couldn’t recommend it more. Easy to set up and important to have to feel safer at home.
I needed a cheap camera for security at home. I use a PVR system for recording motion detection so I do not use the cloud service. I checked the Q&A for this camera on Amazon and one answered said it supported RTSP feed and ONVIF. This is correct, it does. I have found the camera very reliable, simple and easy to use and the mobile app for it is pretty good, if you want to see live pictures. I do not use the app for much apart from the initial set up as my AVR does all the motion detection and recording. I am very pleased with this little camera and can recommend it. It offers very good value for money and Wansview have been quite proactive in offering support, though I did not need it.
Good camera picture
Just hard to set up at first
Could do with easier instructions
But managed it eventually
This camera is cheap. It connects to the wifi easily which I was very happy with. And the quality of the picture is very good. It works at night when it is dark.
What is great as well is that you can rotate it. And the field of vision is certainly a good selling point.
It is worth keeping in mind this one does not have an Ethernet cable port.
But if you connect it to the wifi it is a great job.
If you have a cattle or any animal you wish to monitor closely then this is the camera for you.
Personally I used it for a calving cow. It certainly was nice to be able to open an application on my phone and look at the animal from the comfort of the house (with the heating instead of braving the cold weather to go and look manually.
I don’t understand why more people do not have these cameras. If you have a dog then it would be ideal to check on the dog while you are out and about.
If you are farming then for the few this costs it’s certainly worth avoiding the rain outside in the middle of the night.
So yeah I love it!
I never thought I’d use one of these cameras but since buying them they have really changed my life for the better.
This camera is much better than previous Wansview cameras I have tried. The software has improved a lot, although there is still no separate web interface so making fine adjustments to the camera is not possible. Other CCTV cameras that I have enable access via a web browser as well as an app, which enables you to change settings like frame rate, brightness, key frame, onscreen display, etc. However, that’s really for geeks that like to mess round. The standard settings on the Wansview Q5 are perfectly adequate for normal use.
Setup was easy via the app, and I was also able to easily add the Q5 to my existing Blue Iris PC-based monitoring system, as it is ONVIF and RTSP copmpatible. Blue Iris provides its own monitoring and recording in addition to the in-camera capabilities. You don’t need to use the Wansview paid for cloud service if you insert an SD card. You can access and view recordings on the SD card via the phone app and download them to the phone if needed.
Build quality seems very good, and the camera looks elegant and modern. The power is standard USB, which for indoor use is probably best. You can power the camera using any micro USB cable with any USB mains adapter, or even a power bank battery. There is also a bracket provided to mount the camera to a wall or ceiling, and the camera has a standard ” threaded socket built in which is good.
In summary, the Q5 is a decent PTZ camera especially considering the competitive price.
I bought this camera as I have been using a different model of Wansview camera for the last 18 months. I mainly used my previous camera as a pet cam and I’ve been pleased with its performance. So when I decided to get an extra camera, to provide a bit more security for the front of my house, a second Wansview camera seemed like the obvious choice. My favourite feature of this camera is the ability to remotely pan the camera and set favourite camera positions. The ability to set a certain area of the camera to respond to movement is also useful. I am impressed with the night vision, it is better than other cameras I have used. I already had the app installed, so it took less than 5 minutes to set up this camera and add it to my account. I also like that the app gives the option to share the camera with up to 3 devices, meaning family members can also easily view the camera. Thank you to Sudi for providing great customer service and answering all questions about the camera.
I bought this little camera so I could check in on the dogs when I was out the room. I wasn’t expecting too much with it being a lower price than the rest but I have been pleasantly surprised. The picture quality is clear both night and day and can pick up the dogs clearly from across the room. Motion detector can be adjusted so easily picked up our smaller pup, microphone and speakers are clear and the alarm function quite loud (apart from messing about with it haven’t used this function tbh).
It was easy to set up and connects well. If I’m being picky there is an occasional lag when using data but possibly more my data service than the camera itself.
Camera is well built and comes with charger, lead and instruction booklet. You will need an SD card or cloud subscription to save any recordings.
The camera is easy to setup. Just download the wansview app and select to add a new camera. The app provides a qr code which you hold in front of the camera to link the camera and app. It literally takes less than 5 mins and the camera is up and running.
Image quality is fine in both light and dark. Nighttime images are captured in black and white. The camera lens can be moved using the app to centre on the object of your choice. Audio is two way.
Overall a great little camera for the price. If you looking for an internal camera for security or to montior your pet, you can’t go wrong with this.
I was surprised by this product as thought be complicated to set up or rubbish quality. It was incredibly easy to set up. I am not great with tech so if I found it easy.. It is.
The camera quality is fabulous. I like that you can rotate the camera from your phone so I can change the way it faces depending on what I want to look at.
It picks up sound too which is clear.
It picks up most motion detection with only odd time it’ll miss something. I think it’s when you have the app open it misses things. Takes ten second clips of each detection which you can then save to your own phone.
I wanted mine to face outside, so in the day its fine and clear but at night it just shows me the windows reflection unless I press it against the glass, that’s fine as an outdoor camera be of more use for outside so I don’t really think that’s a downside.
Also you can talk through it to pets etc.
Great value for price. Would recommend and buy again.
We have five various Wansview cameras and find them ideal for our needs.
They cover both the inside and outside of our property, including one pan & tilt.
They have proved reliable for over a year..
The set up and connection to the app is straight forward and SD picture quality is generally sufficient for our needs without having to use the FHD option.
As seen from the pics. night view is excellent.
It was really dark and drizzly when the pic was taken (end of Feb.)
It’s possible to go back, via the app and check recordings over a period of time, as well as watch live view in real time.
We have a professionally installed cctv system, costing 100s and I can honestly say our Wansview cameras do just as good a job, with the added advantage that they are easily repositioned according to need.
One slight criticism, is that the motion detection and alert system can be over sensitive and need a lower setting, which is easily done via the app.
In all I am very impressed with Wansviews range of cameras and can recommend them.
Great camera that we use for watching the dog whilst at work with perfect night vision.
Although make sure you don’t forget it’s there as we accidentally ended up catching ourselves doing something I’m sure is illegal in a few country’s.. China now probably own the footage.
Great motion detector aswell that notifies you.
Due to previous experience with other cameras and NOT fully understanding the visual I couldn’t set up . Also the red and blue flashing light got me .I did have a red light that turned to blue flashing .but this requires completely alternating red and blue flashing . From the box I had to do a reset. . But I’d sowntna frustrating half hour NOT getting it working first . The more experience setting up was a hinderance to me. The code QR us read by the wifi camera from the phone unlike other cameras that set up the other way around .
So I’ve only had it going one evening . And I must say so far its amazing . The night picture quality is amazing..
I’m so happy with it I’ve order the tilt and turn outdoor version ..
DO NOT BUY THIS WANSVIEW PRODUCT. They are a fraudulent company based in Honk Kong who take peoples money without authorisation.
They are partnered with AJCLoud who use PayPal to take payments from you.
1) Do not give them your debit card details
2) Do not give them your credit card details
3) Do not at any cost create a PayPal account when they say it is ‘BETTER’
I am from the UK and they have taken 93.47 which is a lot of money for me. I have a running investigation and its never a guarantee these culprits to get caught.
You might get convinced with tremendous reviews and those already purchased this product. However they employ people and are very clever.
DO NOT BUY FROM THEIR PRODUCT FROM ANYWHERE AS IT IS ALL LINKED TO THEIR FRAUDULENT HEADQUARTERS THAT ARE GETTING AWAY WITH STEALING EVERY DAY SO OF COURSE I AM NOT THE FIRST VICTIM.
This is very serious. Their selling point is that their camera is a bargain compares to other brands, with great features. This may be true but the dark side of it all is that the LURE OF THE FISH NETonce you’re caught, your trapped and you LOSE like i have LOST.
It is impossible to corner them or get them to be reasonable. Its what they do for a living so why would they bother. I have given over 30 emails, additionally to different sectors and they cannot be tracked or made to hold up for responsibility.
I ALMOST FORGOTYOUR DATA IS NOT SAFE WITH THEM TOO.
If you do not believe me, type in google with key words like AJCloud fraud, Wansview, email contactsyou will get a list, and a reply but they never answer you properly. DO YOUR RESEARCH PROPERLY AND THOROUGHLY before buying their camera. CHOICE IS YOURS NOW TO MAKE.
MIAH
So let’s start with the question that everybody wants to ask.. but all these previous reviews never answered… how much is the cloud storage? Well I took time out to screen shot the 3 options you can choose from. Would be nice of other reviews actually done this. Anyway… for the CCTV camera itself… brilliant… never let me down. Always gives me alerts as I have mine on the most sensitive settings. So if a car light shines on the wall or curtain moves with the wind… then I will get notified, but I can turn that off so it detects just human movement too. Also the night vision is 10/10. Clear as anything. I have the 1 month free cloud trial and will also pay for it monthly too. No point using the SD card as anyone who breaks in can smash it, making the SD card go corrupt or just take the CCTV itself. So would recommend cloud storage for that alone.
We have installed this camera in our kitchen to keep an eye on our cats when we are busy or out and can see what they are up to. Night vision works well and remote access seems to work but requires to go through a service to view it outside of home. It is possible to configure for internal access only but defeats the point of a remote access service. We get an alert when the cats come into the room so motion is detected.
It works, simple enough to setup – recommend to put it on a guest network and not your main one so if there was a problem (hack as others have suggested) they don’t have access to your other devices.
This Is our second CCTV camera from Wansview and I couldn’t be more pleased with them.
This camera I have placed in my porch as I am able to easily program it to 4 saved positions a a touch of the screen, so I can view a much bigger area including who is at my Door.
The picture quality is fantastic for the price of the camera.
To set the camera up was really easy and fast & it was up and running within 2 minutes.
The camera is very versatile and I can move it to anywhere around my home within the WiFi signal and have the piece of mind that I will get any movement notification instantly on my phone even if I’m not at home.
I find these camera’s much more versatile than my hard wired CCTV system and the picture quality is far better.
The camera is great. It was easy to set up and the app is very intuitive. I especially like the way I can control the camera viewing angle from my phone app. It exceeds my initial expectations of what to expect from a camera such as this. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a camera to monitor your home.
I purchased this so I can keep an eye on my elderly mother and know she is safe and not getting up too mischief when I’m not in the room with her. The motion detector is perfect as it alerts me to movement and gives me peace of mind that I can check in and make sure she’s not gone walkabout. Well done on creating a great piece of ki
We bought this camera as the reviews were very good and because we have a diabetic dog and were finding it difficult to leave her on her own. With the hot weather recently that also made it difficul to take her in the car. We set the camera up very easily. Next day we waited until she was asleep, she can sleep for quite awhile so we went shopping. That way she wouldn’t miss us. I was able to check her every few minutes which was brilliant in fact she stayed asleep the whole time and she hadn’t realised we hadnt been at home for the last 2 hours!! We haven’t tried the night vision as yet. This camera is going to give us a bit of freedom and above all peace of mind when we leave her at home. Brilliant piece of kit and a very good price too.
UPDATE : I got in touch with the camera’s helpline as I couldn’t find the Camera’s ON/OFF button. But sadly it is not as easy to find. It is in ‘Privacy settings. A shame (a) it has been changed ( apparently when they updated the App) and (b) that they didn’t tell their customers.
On a better note I have to say I couldn’t fault their helpline service. The person who helped me was Becky and she was excellent and responded very quickly each time.
Great camera, I purchased it to allow me to keep a watch on my 3D printer, that way I can check it’s printing ok and when jobs are complete. I haven’t tried the cloud storage but I did get a memory card for it, though as I don’t use it as a security camera, I have no real need to record motion clips. The camera is very good, and has a screw attachment to add on camera tripods, depending on how you plan to use it or where. I would really like it if the camera was in a smaller form factor, it has quite a large base and is not easy trying to get it mounted using my gorilla tripod mount. It’s a good camera, and should fit with anybody’s needs, I also hear Wansview are releasing an outdoor version, if it’s anything like this one then it should be good though, they might need to release a battery powered version for outdoors?
We’ve got 2 of these cameras with a third on the way! We don’t use these cameras to their full potential I’m sorry to say- there’s so much they can do if you read the user guide.
We use them to keep an eye on our pets / deliveries & parcel collections etc. when we’re out. The feature I like most is being able to switch them on and off via the app (even when you’re out) and the notifications you get through in real time when the motion sensor is triggered.
You do need to be connected to WiFi when you’re out to do this but it’s working for me great at the moment. Set up was really easy – just downloaded the app, set my phone to the same network as the cameras were going to be on and followed the instructions on the app to add a camera. Voice prompts from the camera and the user guide found on the Wansview website were also really helpful. Had a small glitch with the cameras when the Wansview server was off line for maintenance which meant that our cameras weren’t operational for the best part of the day. We were notified of the issue via the app and Wansview kept us updated throughout the day and advised us how to get the cameras back up and running which was very straightforward (basically switching on and off at the wall worked for us!). We’ve contacted them before with various queries and they’ve always come back to us really quickly with a clear solution to our problem. I would recommend these cameras as they have given us peace of mind with our pets and added security with parcel deliveries / collections. I also have the confidence that they will be there if we need help and advice with their products. Overall really very pleased:)
I have bought a few of these cameras and they have always worked perfectly – if I have ever had any problems they have been dealt with quickly by Wansview support – not that I have had many problems – generally setting it up.
The quality of the image is perfect and the range on the wifi connection is impressive – I have an exterior camera on an outside garage which is a long way from the router and it works without issue. Another feature I like is the alerts that can be set up in a detailed way so you can get a text or email if someone goes near the camera.
If you pay a small annual fee – around50 you can have ongoing offsite recording of any motion alerts – you can also pay a bit more for recordings that roll over in a month rather than a week before they get recorded over – a really good feature.
The only annoyance was they changed the app to one that didn’t allow the older and newer cameras to work in the same app but as the older cameras were quite old and as they still work perfectly in the old app then I am fine with that.
Highly recommended security cameras that to date have not let me down !
It is super clear and the sound is also great you can control it from your phone. I’ve tested the mic which works fine a bit crackly if that makes sense but if you speak loud into the phone it’s fine. I use Alexa to speak to the dogs anyway that works best for me. Not sure of durability just yet as it’s new will update if I come across issues. I like the motion feature which will record 10 second clips. You can extend recording capabilities with SD card or payment plan for cloud storage. I am just using it for live check ins on the dogs when I’m out so won’t be adding that feature. I have checked camera over wifi and mobile data and there is no issues with viewing or bad connections. (I have an iPhone 11 Pro using 4G data) it does say not compatible with 5G so be mindful of that. So far so good and perfect for the money you spend. I would recommend this, it is a great little pet cam but I wouldn’t use it for anything else. You can’t really go wrong with it to be honest at only 25.
I wasn’t expecting these cameras to be as good as they are given the reasonable price tag.
I was looking for something to try so I could check in on my dog when not at home.
The cameras arrived quickly, set up took about 2 mins per device (they do need plugging in as well as WiFi). The camera talks to you so you know when it’s installed correctly.
The app is easy to navigate with loads of useful features. You can set motion detection to specific dates and times, you can choose to view more than one camera at a time, you can move the camera around remotely using the app.
The picture quality both day and night is very good.
Customer service is personal, I had a follow up email from a person I could respond to rather than a “do not reply”.
Very happy. I recommend this product.
This camera is great, we chose Wansview after reading good reviews and we used it to replace a poor experience that we had with a Ubiquiti camera. We ordered the black Q5 so that it can easily blend in when placed on a bookshelf or similar location. Night vision is excellent, and the 2-Way audio is good enough to be able to communicate with people remotely. It also comes with a desktop application for controlling the camera which we have found very useful and we haven’t experienced any issues with video quality or with the camera’s Wi-Fi connection dropping. The camera also supports ONVIF functionality for streaming and watching the live feed, and we use the Synology Surveillance Station app on our Synology NAS for managing recordings locally. Set up was easy and the Synology NAS had no problems whatsoever communicating with the camera. All in all, we are very Impressed.
Wasn’t sure what to expect, but it came up with pretty good reviews on Amazon. When it arrived opening the box, it was all as expected. In fact I took photos of each process of opening the box. This was bought with tentative ideas. One to keep an eye on my brand new car, second was while I was out could use it internally as a security camera. On the whole extremely pleased. My only dilemma was the night vision through the window to watch my car. My window reflected the image back on itself during the night and took in the one street light and that light blurred blocked all images. But now I know. So use it indoors and switch it on as I leave the flat and aim it at the two doors – one is entry into the lounge where my hi-tech items are and the other is the kitchen door – so one camera catches both. Extremely happy with this.
I do have a great smart phone (iphone) with lots off apps on it and never had a problem.
Has met all my expectations.
$69 presume it is US$ for annual subscription for cloud, not sure yet whether it’s worth that amount of money.
I think the picture quality in daylight or with lights on is excellent. Night quality indoors – excellent.
I just replaced my old low resolution iPCam with this one.
I am surprised how good quality of the picture it shows.
It is easy to control. I had to try and connect to my wifi twice but second time it connected well
It’s a but shame that it only connect the old, 2.4Ghz network. The video is good quality even in dark. Motion detection works well.
Second surprise compared to the old IP cam is that the infra LEDs are cannot be seen at night with bare eyes.
The bad point is that the infra LEDs are constantly on in the dark environment. My old camera turned on the infra only when an user connected into to camera.
The microphone quality is ok but sometimes it picks and amplifies strange noises. But it is clear to hear talks and other sounds.
I had no connection problems so far.
The only negative I can say is that you cannot see if there an anybody else watching the live video. It would be useful the live viewer counter or history of connections.
So for this price I think it is an absolute bargain. I can recommend anybody whom would like to check his home remotely.
So far I have purchased 4 of the IQ5cameras and looking to purchase 4 more as I’m so impressed.
I had a Yale PTZ which I have replaced as no comparison
Wansview cameras;
Packaging is perfect
product design and aesthetics = very compact, nice looking.
Love the way the power lead is small one end so we don’t need to drill big holes when passing through a wall.
Installation.
So easy, very quick and simple process that works every time.
No fuss just does what it should.
Using the camera / app
The app is brilliant, love the way it lists the cameras and shows if they are online
Responds very well to direction control
Zooms in and out very quick
Very fast to connect both on WiFi and 4g
Range on WiFi is amazing, I have a camera in my stand alone garage which also works flawlessly through several walls over 5m
Your cameras are brilliant they meet my needs, easy to use, and picture quality is awesome.
This camera is great. Easy to setup in couple of mins it is ready to use. Picture quality is great. Ordered two more after this one. Love it great value for money.
Editing this review to update.
Love the cameras and the app is easy to use. However, the customer service sends emails frequently which looks like scammers emailing. Asking you to reply regarding cam installation, setup and trial icloud. Upon replying they again send email for asking if one is willing to test nee equipment for free. And same kind of emails from multiple customer service staff. This is highly annoying. Hope Wansview stop doing that. Emails are quite similar with (subject or context REPLY REQUIRED) scam emails. If this email thingy was not there I would’ve given 5 stars.
I was in the market for a home security camera and almost bought a well-advertised one for 180. However, my friend has one of these Wansview cameras and insisted it was good. I was hesitant to purchase this as there is no way a camera costing 25 could match the 180 camera? Surely not. I took the gamble nonetheless and am so pleased I did. The picture quality is brilliant and the motion detection works well. I have this camera on my window sill pointing outwards onto my drive and the picture is brilliant. There is no glare during the day or night on from the window – unless the lights are on the room where the camera is positioned. I wanted a camera where I didn’t have to by into a cloud subscription scheme and this is brilliant. I bought a micro SD card and it records everything. The camera has a 24/7 recording function or simply record upon motion detection. I have already recommended this product to two others. If you want a home security camera, look no further – this is THE ONE to go for.
I bought this camera to try in two situations: 1. for broadcast with OBS of the preacher in church 2. To record action on our new nest box.
The description says “Pan Tilt Zoom”. Try as I might I could not get it to zoom, meaning the subject of either preacher or nest box was far too small. It’s possible to pinch the screen on the Android app but it has not effect on the picture received on my PC. However, the quality of the pictures was impressive – see examples shot out of the window.
A more annoying problem came with the unacceptable latency when connected to OBS. Something like 5 seconds elapsed between an event and it appearing on screen. No chance of getting lip synch with a speaker. Oddly the latency was reasonable using ONVIF device manager, but there’s no way of getting a picture out of it.
The Android app was very annoying in insisting that you register an account, even though I have no need of cloud storage. Anyway the registration email never arrived, but I was still able to configure the camera to my network. Getting the RTSP stream from it was not too much hassle considering I’d never done it before.
All in all it seems suited to its main advertised purpose but not for my specialised one, so I sent it back for a refund.
I bought two of these cameras and I am really pleased with them. They are packed with features. They can be mounted upright or upside down. So they can sit on the windowsill or mounted on the ceiling. The night vision is good and can be disabled, for example if they are looking through the window. You can use cloud storage or a micro SD card. The footage can also be downloaded to your phone. You can alter how sensitive the motion detection is.
It was very easy to set up and the cameras have been very reliable. Install the app on your phone, the app then creates a QR code. Show it to the camera and it sets itself up. Just put the WiFi password in and it’s done. Simple
Perfect for security or watching Foxes in my garden. Great product. I recommend.

This review is for the Wansview WiFi IP Camera, 1080P Wireless Home Security Camera Q5.
I have had 8 camera’s so far for various reasons, this is by far the easiest to set up I have found. After downloading the app and creating an account connecting to your Wi-Fi only requires the login and password. After that all you do is place your ‘phone close to the camera while it scans the code shown on it. Afterwards it just works.
The camera is small so may be placed almost anywhere; the USB cable supplied is quite long to felicitate this.
Pan and tilt are excellent with the controls shown on screen; standard definition (SD) and Full High Definition (FHD); it requires just a tap of the screen to change it. In daylight colours are bright yet realistic and the night definition is almost as good as in daylight (only it’s in black and white of course); remarkable for the use of only 4 LED’s. It’s as good as my 4 year old outside security cameras that use 30+ LED’s. However I can see no way to zoom in or out, only to use my ‘phone to do so with two fingers
It requires a micro SD card for internal storage; I used a 64gig one and after 30 days of ‘normal’ recording, around 40 minutes/day, have used only 14Gig, it will, of course depend on your usage and settings.
Recorded playback is simple; touch the button and a day and time line appears on screen. Swipe left or right to go to the day/time required and if there is any recording it shows up as a block of different colour.
Now for what I do not like about the camera: Paying for cloud storage, especially when I have 32TB of storage at home. If used as baby/pet monitor cloud storage is not needed but as a security device external storage would be advisable. However, there is no way to direct the software to store video on an external device, such as a NAS. This, I feel, is its greatest let down but you can instruct it to record from your ‘phone.
All in all a good, versatile camera but minus 1 star for lack of ability to record to an external device.
Only used it for a few weeks but so far it’s been very stable and not dropped connection once. It’s my second Wansview camera, replacing a FOSCAM camera which, despite a great WiFi signal, kept dropping out and would need a physical reboot – not ideal when it’s in my sons room.
Seems well built, easy to connect and the app is easy to use. I’ve added it to my Synology Surveillance Station to I can look at it easily along with my other cameras in the house. My only gripe is that the app has been replaced since I bought the previous one and so the two cameras need two different apps. Not ideal but I use Synology’s DS Cam app anyway so it’s not a problem. I could possibly try adding the old one to the new app but I heavily subscribe to the ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ theory when it comes to IP cameras!
Well done Wansview!
I chose the Q5 because you can turn off the automatic night vision, I wanted to use the camera to video outside my house, with the camera pointing out the window, our street lighting is very bright. This is working ok, not always great during the day as there is some reflection from the window, but, I’m quite pleased with the results, pan and tilt work fine so far. I had no problems connecting my phone to cams.
I have subscribed to the Wansview cloud.
The Wansview android app eats power and data.
I initially bought a 128gb sd card, but, you don’t need this much, so when I bought a second cam I just bought 16 gb, this is sufficient for a couple of weeks storage on sd, you don’t really need an sd, you can rely solely on the cloud.
I’ve had some issues, but, managed to resolve most, I think the Wansview website could be a bit more user friendly, difficult to find what you want to know.
The app worked fine on my android phone, but couldn’t get the cam to work with the mac os app or ipad app, maybe they’re too old.
To view live feed on my mac I ended up downloading “GlanceCam” an RTSP viewer, this works ok, sometimes crashes when in background. You can only take photos with this app, not video, and you cannot view saved video from the cloud or sd. I haven’t tried any other RTSP viewers, quite happy with Glance.
To view on my mac, I also downloaded “BlueStacks” an android emulator, then installed the android Wansview cloud app. The app loaded ok, crashed if I tried to look at the live view, but, I could access the cloud and sd card to view and download video.
I’m reasonably good on my Mac now, I can view the live stream through GlanceCam and view and download recordings with the Wansview app with android Emulator.
I will just explain how recordings work on this, when you view an alert you only see a 10 second video, if you want to see more, you need to go to the cloud, where you can select up to 10 mins of video and download from sd or cloud. I don’t think this works if you don’t subscribe to Wansview cloud!
I have not yet explored ONVIF, which is a video interface that gives you more control than RTSP, to turn ONVIF on and get info about the RTSP server, go to settings/local account.
I’ve uploaded a couple of pics, I’ve cropped these, but, hopefully give you an idea, the daytime one is not usually this bad, depends on where the sun is.
My daughter says I should just pay out for a proper outside cctv or ring, you might think I’ve done a lot of faffing around for not much, but, these cams are cheap, I was just playing around with them out of curiosity, they are sufficient for me, I’ve seen neighbours cctv, using night vision, not always that clear.
I slightly begrudge paying for Wansview cloud, but I don’t think you can access the cam properly without it.
Purchased this to monitor my puppy when we are not about. It is a very good product considering it was only 25 (approx)
Camera comes with a long USB cable, mains plug, adjustable mount, along with the camera unit itself.
At the moment I have this on a window sill, but will eventually mount it on the underside of a Kitchen cupboard with the supplied adjustable mount. There is an option in the app to flip the image.
The feature I love about the camera is being able to pan the camera from the app. You can also store favourite positions that you can press on to return to that view quickly.
When viewing you can also hear what is going on in the room through the in built microphone, which is good quality. The picture quality is very good and you are able to zoom in to an area using digital zoom, and still be good quality.
The night vision is also very good quality. My room is never pitch black, as there is a street light near the window and we don’t shut curtains, but you can clearly make out features, even when zoomed in.
A great feature is the talk back option, where I can use mic on my phone to speak to my puppy or whoever’s in the kitchen 😉 through the app. At full volume it can get a little distorted, so have this set at around 80%, which is plenty loud enough.
The app is straight forward and easy to use. You can record video clips and take stills. Although that is something that I don’t really use as I just want it for real time monitoring. There is a paid for cloud service, similar to that of the Ring doorbell, but I don’t have a need for that feature at the moment.
Camera also has motion detection, which I’ve played with and it works, but not really used as I don’t need to know every time my puppy gets up and walks around, but can see it’s uses if it’s being used as a security device.
One thing I wish it has is sound detection, so if my puppy is barking I get a notification. Maybe this could be implemented in a future firmware update. Would then be a perfect baby monitor. I’ve made request to support about this, so fingers crossed.
This camera is amazing…ended up buying five and will be buying another on pay day!! Bought initially to put in the windows at my daughters home after a growler. She isn’t allowed to out up an external camera by her landlord but these are brilliant in the window. You do need a security light to get perfect night vision outside but only due to the glare on the window otherwise. She then bought one for her youngest bedroom and the night vision in there is amazing! So bought two for my elderly mum’s bungalow and getting one for our house. Brilliant playback too, she forgot to put her bin away but found it put back in the garden. When she checked the camera it was our friendly postie whi had done it. Fantastic film of him, you could see him perfectly. Thoroughly recommend this product!
Pleased with Wansview Camera. I purchase my first camera a K5 and Q6 over year ago and since added two new W5 camera. Easy to setup and working fount with good video.
Only had problem when my internet was upgraded to 5Gb fibre optic, I had problem to connect all the cameras to my new BT hub.
I contacted Wansview UK support by email and next day I had a reply from Grace of the support team with full instruction how to set the camera including a special software upgrade for one of the cameras.
I also received a week later a follow up email from Grace to make all working well.
I personnel thing the support received from Grace service customer was the best I experience I had for a long time and give me confidence to purchase Wansview product.
Very good quality camera, especially at this price point (I paid 25.99 in Jan 2021). The camera was very easy to set up using the phone app and, once set up, is very easy to use. The app allows you to view the cameras from anywhere (I was able to verify that a fire alarm was a false alarm while on holidays last year using my older Q3 camera). The camera comes with a mounting bracket allowing it to be ceiling mounted (and you can invert the image on the app to get it the right way round). There’s also PC software to view the camera though this is probably the weak point – it doesn’t work always perfectly first time but when you get it working it’s fine. Motion detection can be quite sensitive – clouds passing over, with the resultant movement of shadows, will often trigger an alarm. You can record locally on an SD card as well as onto Wansview’s cloud service – this has a number of plans but the 15-day rolling recording for 5 cameras works out at USD 9.99 per month at the time of writing. The camera also supports RTSP and ONVIF so the more technically minded out there should also be able to hook it up to a local network video recorder (though I haven’t tried this yet). This is my fourth Wansview IP security camera (2 older Q3 non-cloud, one Q3S cloud and this q5) and I’m very happy with all of them.
OK, first confession, I’m obviously not using this camera for its intended purpose. Equivalent “bird box” cameras come in at around 150 so this is an absolute bargain and has the added functionality of being steerable. I fully understand that this camera is not intended for external use and that I am probably invalidating my warranty but it’s been in the box for a couple of weeks through fairly severe weather and is performing brilliantly, if you choose to do the same your mileage may differ but for me at 25 it’s well worth the risk. It is larger than the purpose built birdbox cameras and I did build the box to specifically accommodate it so bear this in mind. Set up was an absolute breeze, the App found it instantly and has never failed to connect and provide a picture either from windows desk top, Android phone or an iPad. I added a couple of LED lights and used one of these (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07Z942YWS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) to control them from Google Home. You can see the difference in the photos between the camera in its night vision mode and with the lights turned on. Also the motion detect function works perfectly, I have installed a 4GB micro storage card and any visitors get captured and stored for viewing, you can also store still images and videos on the memory card for sharing etc. Because of this I haven’t felt the need to invest in any cloud storage.
My one gripe would be that it struggles in low light, where it tries to present a colour image which is very grainy, for my purposes it would be great to have a setting in the app where I could force it into night vision mode, but I’ve got the lights so not a biggy.
All in all I’m very impressed and would happily recommend it, all I need now are some occupants.
The camera is very easy to install and information clear to follow. If for any reason your electricity goes off just make sure you switch it off and on again at the mains so it reconnects
I don’t use the cloud as I only have it for live feed for my daughters bedroom as she is disabled and it allows me to check on her in bed without disturbing her.
I am really impressed with the picture quality in both day and night mode.
Love the facility for notification on my phone when there is movement in her room. And love how easy it is to move the camera angle around the room from my phone. I set motion detection for 8pm to 7:30am and it records them and stores them so I can see. My little girl is disabled and has a downstairs bedroom this camera has meant I’m not up and down the stairs during the night to check on her, and I am alerted if she moves so I can watch to make sure she’s safe.
Would definitely recommend this
I purchased this camera as a security measure in my home gym that I have built in my garden. The main reason I was drawn to this was the motion detection function and the size of the SD card it can take (128gb) which is massive compared to other cameras. It records to the card when motion is detected and you are sent a notification to your phone. You can view the recording on your phone via the app and also download straight to your internal phone storage. Same applies to photos. I did purchase a different brand and was returned straight away due to it not being able to motion detect after 10pm which was redicouls.
This camera can motion detect when you want to and even set up time/day when to take place.
I am very impressed with the quality of the camera. Set up was so easy and a bonus was the length of the power cable that is supplied. Its not short and enough to place the camera where I needed it with plenty left. The mounting bracket is brilliant. Camera can be mounted either up or upside down. I have chosen the upside down orientation. Via the app you can set the orientation to what you want. You can rotate the camera almost 360 which is superb as I can also see outside of my gym into the garden. You can see the quality of a picture I have taken this morning. It is snowing outside so daylight was minimum and still amazing quality! Night vision is also amazing and can clearly see. My room size is 5x3m.
Another bonus is the microphone! You can talk via the camera!
An absolute joy with no complaints and hoping to carry on using wansview products in the future. I without a dout recommended this product to all!
Installed out of the box, connecting to the Wansview app straight away. Inserted a micro SD card easily under the lens housing. Placed in the kitchen to use as a “Puppy Cam”. I can also easily use it as a communication device with a person in another room.
The Wansview Cloud app appears user friendly, but I intend to use local storage for now.
I didn’t a expect a camera at this price level to be able to scan to observe moving objects etc. or to have night vision. Easily controlled from my phone.
I also didn’t expect that it would be able to send notifications and a 9 second video to my phone so quickly, when moving objects are detected.
I also did not expect a 2 way voice function.
I was also able to quickly and easily ask to see footage on my 2 Amazon Echo Shows.
Wansview cloud app offers a 30-day free trial, however I haven’t tried that as yet, although I did look at the option. I don’t really need it right now, but am considering it when going on holiday. With the current lockdown, that’s unlikely at present. Micro SD storage is very good for now, as we’re not away from the house.
All in all, it’s a surprisingly good piece of kit for less than 20.
Within it’s limited use-case it is reasonable quality, hence the 3 star rating. I dropped a star for the fact that it requires a paid subscription to their own cloud service to work at all (even if using your own ONVIF recording) [Edit – No it doesn’t, see update at end of review]. And I dropped a second star for the temperamental SD Card setup (though tech support was very quick to respond).
Pro’s:
====
1. Good quality images at 1080p (FHD)
2. Can conserve bandwidth if using 720p (HD) images, though obviously reduced image quality
3. Very responsive tech support via email (responded to me within 5 minutes)
4. Setup is reasonably straight forward for a simple use-case scenario. It gets more complicated if you want to take advantage of the more advanced features such as ONVIF support
5. It can be enabled to work with 3rd party ONVIF compliant applications
Con’s:
1. It will not function at all without an internet connection (not just local wireless LAN)
2. It will not function at all without a subscription to their own cloud service. 1st month free then minimum of $69.99 per year [Edit – Not true. See update at end of review]
3. It can only be used/accessed from a mobile app (either IOS or Android). There is no WansView application for the PC
4. The mobile app (both IOS and Android are identical) leaves a lot to be desired
5. Setting up the SD card can be temperamental. Though in practice it is hard to see any benefit to using an SD card since the camera does not function unless connected to the WansView cloud service anyway [Edit – again see update at end of review].
Review Updated 09/11/2020
=======================
First of all let me reaffirm how impressed I have been by the technical support team. They have been very responsive and supportive, often responding within a few minutes (during working hours). It is primarily for this reason that I have been able to update my rating to 4 stars. Just dropping 1 star because of the fact that so much support was required.
With the aid of the ever helpful support team this is what I was able to figure out:
1. My problem with the SD card was only resolved by power-off/power-on of the camera after it had been formatted using the camera menu option. Immediately following reformatting, the status of the SD card was still “error”. Re-powering at this point was required for the camera to pick up the new status of “on”.
2. The camera DOES work without a cloud subscription. The confusion arose because you have to login to the app before you are able to see the camera. The splash screen immediately prior to the login screen boldly announces “WansView Cloud” which I took to imply the requirement of a paid plan. It doesn’t. I cancelled my plan and was still able to login to their servers to gain direct access to m y camera. Obviously doing this means that new video is not stored in the cloud, but it is still viewable from the app from the SD card. Also, to my surprise, event notifications are still pushed to the app (though again, obviously, not logged in the cloud).
3. You do however, have to have access to the internet from the LAN that the camera is a part of. Without this the camera forever flashes the blue LED and appears offline. That is to say that the camera can not be used on an “air gapped” secured LAN. It has to have access to the outside world (though this is clearly stated in the “Quick Install Guide”).
In conclusion, now all the misunderstandings have been cleared up, I am comfortable calling this camera good value for money. Certainly the technical support is second to none.
For the price this camera is a good buy.
The camera picks up movement well, and records to a memory card.
You can alter the sensitivity of the motion detection in the app. The app is quite straightforward and setting up the camera only took a few minutes.
You can live-view via the app and via Alexa enabled devices like Fire Stick or Echo Show (I have used it on both and it works fine for basic viewing).
You can scroll back through a time line which shows when motion was detected. Or if you’ve set up alerts, you can scroll through those.
The night vision is pretty good. As you can see by the attached photo. You can see into the next room, but that maybe because there is also a camera in there emitting infrared.
You can pan and tilt the camera. But mine is set up to cover the room, so tend to leave it in the same position.
I’ve mounted mine upside down, so you can flip the image in the app to view it the right way.
All in all its worth the money.
Oh, also the customer support is good.
I had a question which they answered almost immediately.
We added the Q5 to our existing network of three W5 out-door cameras to be able to keep a check on our dog who is left in one room in the house overnight. The Q5 indoor camera has both great image quality and night vision, we mounted ours on the ceiling and with the remote pan and tilt function we can cover all areas in the room. You are also enable the microphone so you can listen if required, even talk back if needed.
Setting up the system is really easy, however you need to connect to the 2.4 Wifi and not 5.0 wifi, as it does not work on the latter. The best way to set the camera up is to do this at a table, create or open your exiting WansView Cloud App, then follow the instructions to set up a new camera, once the camera is powered up and the have the QR code displayed on your app, point the camera at the IR code and the system will connect… really easy. Then mount the camera where you need it.
You will also receive a ‘thank you e-mail’ from “Sandra” who is part of Wansview asking if you require any assistance and if everything went smoothly. I had a query regarding the older generation cameras which was responded to very promptly and in perfect english, so excellent customer support.
Note that this camera uses the latest WansView Cloud App, which is different to the earlier version, so not backwards compatible with older cameras. Also you need to log in again if you are using more that one device, as it allows one unit per account. You are able to have a total of 5 accounts or devices connected to the cameras at one time, but each requires a separate log in, this will all be part of the digital security incase someone got hold of your password so a good thing.
We are very happy with the cameras and this one certainly gets my recommendation.
I bought this camera to replace a static camera that I have had for a couple of years – its amazing to see how the technology has moved on – this camera has 360 degree rotation and up /down tilt motion so I can pretty well see anywhere around the room, the construction is high quality and the picture is high definition. We use it as a child/pet monitor when at home and security device when away from home as it alerts to movement or sound detection when set to alert. The camera was easy to install, clear simple instructions in the packet, just download the app, plug in the camera and scan the QR code and everything connected quickly and easily. The Wansview Cloud App is simple to use with a nice user interface and a clear picture — panning, tilting and zooming the camera is easy with the simple touch arrows. This was a great buy cheaper than my last camera that did not have the 360 degree pan or tilt functions, so I can now see so much more and with a higher picture quality. I cannot comment on the Cloud Storage service yet as I have been using the local SD card to store data so far.
Having tried other cameras which were nothing but trouble, I found this camera very easy to set up, simply plug it in and follow the simple instructions. I downloaded the app to my iPhone and soon could see the camera view on my screen and control the camera to get it pointing exactly where I wanted. The app is so easy to use, I adjusted the volume so that when I spoke into my phone my voice could be heard clearly from the camera’s speaker, and I set the motion alert so that my phone would tell me when there was movement.
So far it has worked flawlessly, alerting me each time there is movement, so I can see what moved or go to the live mode to see what is happening. I managed to have a clear conversation with my sister through it when she visited while I was not there.
I have installed a micro SD card into mine to keep the footage, I found you had to rotate the camera upwards to find the slot for it. I have now been using the camera for a week and it is perfect for my needs, I have not tried using the cloud storage yet, but as there is a 30 day free trial I plan to do that shortly.
The camera was very easy to install. For normal users who wish to use the mobile phone app it is very easy. It was more difficult for me as I am using it with an existing cctv NVR in my house. I would not normally use a cloud app to configure an IP camera, but as this was the only option I used it successfully. As I am a PC expert but NOT a great mobile phone user, I had an amusing problem pointing ‘the camera’ at the ‘QR Code’. I was trying to point my phone camera at the QR code on the base of the camera, instead of placing the QR code displayed on the phone in front of the camera I was setting up. Needless to say my method did not work
The camera itself is ideal now that I have configured it for use on my wifi LAN with my home cctv system. This is not what it is really designed for but it works perfectly. It would have been easier for me if the camera had its own web interface for configuration, but the app worked well (once I followed the instructions correctly!).
I originally purchased this particular camera to keep a remote eye on my 3D printer, however, I ended up installing it in my (very messy) comms room as means of security.
Out of the box, you get the camera itself, manuals, and an extremely lengthy USB cable, which for me was more than adequate to route from the plug socket around the room to position it onto a shelf above the door.
One of the great things about this camera is that there is the option of mounting this upside down onto the ceiling for example; the settings within the mobile app allows the image view to be inverted (flipped) right-side up.
Initially, I had issues setting this camera up onto my wireless network via 2.4g. I followed the written and verbal instructions several times, but without success – bear in mind that I work in IT and have experience in setting up IOT devices onto wireless networks – although that’s not to say it’s a difficult procedure at all. Overall, setting up and configuring the camera up is pretty easy and is done via Wansview Cloud app on a mobile. It’s not possible to do this via the Mac (and I suspect the Windows) desktop applications.
Cosette from Wansview customer services was absolutely brilliant in helping me diagnose the issue. Communication was great with back and forth email exchanges, and they ultimately determined that I had a faulty unit. A replacement was promptly sent, which connected perfectly first time.
Features:
Picture quality is really good for this budget 1080p camera. Sure, the quality is not going to be super-fantastic, and/or ultra-crisp compared to a 100+ camera, for instance, but for the price, it’s pretty decent and suits my needs (and more importantly, my wallet) perfectly.
The camera itself has a fish-eye lens, which means that the angle of view is greater of about 105, and therefore you can view more of the area that you are monitoring.
The pan/tilt feature is what prompted me to purchase this particular camera. It has a set rotation range of about 320 horizontally and 80 vertically. The rotation mechanism of the camera is quite smooth, although I wish the amount it steps between rotations would be slightly more sensitive. What is great is that the app contains a function where you can save up to 4 positions and then quickly switch to each of the positions by selecting the one that you want to view.
Night vision, in my opinion, is superb. I can see my entire room when all of the lights are off, which is super handy. The only niggle I have with night vision, is that you can’t turn on/off the night vision mode from one to the other. To do disable night vision, you have to disable ‘Auto night vision’ from the app, and then focus on a light source, to completely disable it. Again, enabling/disabling most functions can only be done using the mobile app and not the desktop versions.
The two-way audio is great too from tests I have done. I rarely use either the microphone or the speaker, simply because I have no need to record or output sound, but like I say, I have tested it and it works as it’s meant to.
I installed a 32Gb card to record any motion events that may occur, and that works fine also – the app informs me when motion has been detected and records the significant event. I don’t have a need for the cloud service that Wansview offer, although I can see how that might be useful and beneficial to others.
Observations:
One thing I have noticed is the camera can only be configured via the mobile app and not the desktop versions; furthermore, the camera settings option is only available when viewing the device in portrait mode, and not in landscape.
Also, you are only able log into a single device at a time, meaning that you cannot log into the mobile app and a desktop version at the same time – one will always log you out.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, this is a great little camera for the price, which does everything I need it to. It monitors my comms room 24/7, while alerting me if/when it detects any motion and recording said motion. I have the ability to view about most of the monitored room, taking into consideration the rotation range, which is more than sufficient. the night vision is superb and I am able to see the room in complete darkness. I can rotate the camera easily to saved positions (available on the mobile app only) with a single tap, or choose to manually rotate the camera as I please. Cosette from Wansview customer services has also been excellent in helping me resolve certain issues and has made sure that I am a satisfied customer.
Have bought 3 now as they really do the job they were intended for with us. One is to keep an eye on my 99 year old Father in his living room – he is housebound and supposed to keep his feet up – quite often tell him to “put them up” !! He was a little bewildered as to where the voice was coming from to start, but it’s all ok now. I live over a mile away so ideal. The 2nd is for us, we have 2 dogs, one has a loud woof, although she’s brought in from back garden as soon as she barks ie, postman, deliveries, strangers on path, people behind complained to council – this will keep a record of the once or twice every so often she warns us someone is there. It also proved which one dug up the living room carpet!! The 3rd was for a friend for the same reason, dogs, especially if there was an attempted theft. Ideal that they are portable from room to room as well. Sound quality is excellent.
This is a small little camera that comes with a bracket to attach it to a wall if need be. It’s pretty light but seems sturdy enough.
Setup is simple. Pop a micro SD card in the slot (just below the lens, you may have to manually move it as it’s hidden at some positions). Download the app and connect to WiFi. Took about 5 minutes in total. You need to create a Wansview cloud account (which is free and simple to set up).
With the app you can have more than one device set up and each can be named accordingly. The main screen allows you to view all alerts, your personal settings, etc., or go to any attached device to see the picture or edit the settings for just that camera.
By default you get real time images and sound, and you can take pictures or video, or speak through the camera. Control of the position is also available here, and it’s quick enough for most applications. You need the paid cloud storage to rewind video that’s not been specifically stored, which I’ve not needed yet.
Image quality is pretty good, although I’m sure it’s extrapolated to 1080. Frame rates are high enough for videos to look smooth. In the picture I uploaded you can see an outdoor view, and the top insert of the number plate expanded. Below that is a snippet of the number plate taken on an action camera of the same resolution. Overall they look like they have a bit too much contrast and closer to 720 true resolution.
Night vision is pretty good, with the I.R. LED’s able to pop on and off as required and illuminate a good 20-30ft.
The motion capture is very good, allowing you to specify up to two time periods it will be active, or 24/7 (if on at all). You can even select an area to trigger in, so ignoring areas you don’t want to monitor. Each time there is movement you get an alert and can go to the camera and review each 15s clip. They can be downloaded to your phone quite easily or deleted.
I had a problem with my first one, which was quickly rectified and had very good communication throughout. Customer service is excellent.
I hid mine in a box and put it on the window sill looking out at the car. It does work well enough for the price but you can’t see number plates if you needed to. The night vision I don’t need to use as there is a street lamp right outside that lights up the area the camera is pointed at and it shows up well enough.
With the app you can control where the camera is looking, up, down, left and right, it also allows local storage via micro SD card so you can replay the footage but it only records when it detects motion and doesn’t record very long each time but it does the job none the less. If you want better then you should be prepared to spend a lot more and have a much more complicated set up process.
All this needs is the app on your phone (easy setup and free to download), a WiFi connection and plugging into the wall for power.
I primarily wanted a pet camera with decent images without spending a fortune. I have a Wansview HD webcam and am impressed with the image quality and excellent feedback from video calls. I’m delighted I stuck with Wansview and tried the Q5. The camera feels well-made and looks stylish. The app was quick and easy to download, and setup took only a few minutes, with the camera connecting to my wifi and the app on the first attempt.
Freestanding or wall or ceiling mounted with the bracket supplied, the camera has a good range when static and terrific angle adjustability for its size via the app. The app allows for easy tailoring to suit individual needs.
The motion detection is impressive, and the videos and images captured very clear. There is some ‘noise’ on larger screen playback, but for this price range, it’s great quality. In daylight, the colours are true and image sharp.
Connection to my Amazon Echo Show was easy, and although I can’t control the camera using my echo devices (yet), I can ask Alexa to let me view the room without firing up the app.
The only cons I can find are that the captured audio isn’t crystal clear on playback and is slightly out of sync, but these are minor issues. Customer services have been incredibly helpful, offering videos and suggestions on how tweaking the settings can improve this.
I’m delighted with the quality at this price point and will definitely buy more of these cameras as a trustworthy security system. I can’t wait to see where this company goes in the further development of the app and connectivity with other smart devices. Very happy with my purchase and wouldn’t hesitate to buy again or recommend.
I’d previously bought an external camera from Wansview and have been happy with it, so when the need for an internal one arose I got this one. Just as easy to set up as the first one, though you MUST download the app to do so.
The nice long power cable and various sets of fixings meant that I could ceiling mount it, and the app has a feature whereby you can then flip the picture so that it is the right way up. The PTZ feature (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) works great and you can set multiple pre-sets in the app to re-call a scene instantly, though be aware that the “Zoom” is only digital, though for the price (I paid 21.99) that’s to be expected.
I subscribed to the cloud storage service when I got the first camera and was able to add this camera to the service at no extra cost, in fact you can add up to three by the looks of things. I wouldn’t have subscribed to the cloud storage for an internal camera normally, as the microSD slot will happily take a 128GB card according to the documentation, which by my calculations is enough for a month or so, if set to motion activated recording, however I felt it was a good idea for the external camera as that is obviously more vulnerable.
Low light sensitivity is OK, though not essential for the well-lit area I’m using it to monitor so it wasn’t an important consideration.
There’s a Windows and a Mac viewer software on the Wansview website, I’ve not managed to get the Mac one to work unfortunately but the Windows one seems OK, my only criticisms are that if you log in on the desktop software, it then logs you out of the phone app and vice versa. Also the desktop program doesn’t have a playback option, that’s only available in the phone app.
Overall though, I’m really happy with both the Q5 (this one) and the W5 that I bought previously and would certainly consider another Wansview product next time.
UPDATE: The new version of the MacOS app is now working fine with Catalina. 🙂
I initially bought 2 Q5 cameras. The set up couldn’t have been easier. They work as described and are very controllable. The images are clear and alerts are automatically captured to your phone. Cloud storage is available and recordings can also be made on an SD card.
The system is very versatile and its use is only limited by your imagination.
The app is straightforward and once you have found your alert focus position and sensitivity the frequency of alerts is good. Itherwise you can find yourself being alerted every two minutes! I set mine so that outdoor events like car headlights, birds and waving trees did not alert. It did capture some great lightning!
I use mine to monitor a distant property where I can look in from time to time and also check any alerts. Should there be any unwelcome visitors their images will be captured remotely to my phone. Even if they disconnect or steal the camera I’ve got them!
The Q5 featured as the best pan and tilt camera in an independent online review (go read).
You can use strong passwords and I have no concerns about hacking.
I have now bought a further 2 cameras to use in our main property. I am discovering more functions every day.
These cameras offer amazing facilities at an astoundingly low price.
I needed a security solution for my boat, so that we could make sure brigands and ne’er-do-wells’ didn’t get up to mischief while it was moored away from it’s home berth.
The Wansview G5 ticked all the boxes: WIFI connectivity, local and/or cloud storage, remote viewing via the app (or a website), motorised remote control of the field of view, microphone and speaker (so I can scare anyone aboard); excellent picture quality. It’s also neat looking, compact and runs from a USB power source (so easily run from the 12V system on the boat).
The set up was just a little tricky, though that has improved with later releases of the app, and watch out that you don’t have a combined 2.4GHz and 5GHz WIFI – like many cheaper devices it doesn’t like 5GHz. Once up and running it did everything it claimed. I can access the from my phone whenever I need to, or in response to a motion alert; image quality is great and the ability to move the view (I use it to look at of the port and starboard windows) was a god-send when some sod untied the boat and it drifted off. We were able to see that it had moved and quickly worked out where it was.
It’s so good I have bought a weather proof Wansview camera to mount outside.
Highly recommended.
I bought this camera after looking at various other options and after receiving a recommendation from a friend. Very pleased with my purchase with it being cheaper in price than others and so far has done an excellent job. It was extremely easy and quick to set up, connected to my home WiFi first time and had it up and running within a few minutes.
It seems the camera is mainly intended to for indoor use but I have mine set up at a rear window and focused on my back garden to detect any intruders. You have the option to set up motion detection for 24/7 or schedule it for specific times of the day. I have mine set for night time at the moment but it would be easy to switch to 24/7 or change the schedule times if away from home. Alerts are sent to my smart phone so I can be anywhere and if an intruder approaches I’m immediately alerted. Thankfully no real intruders so far but I tested after dark and I was impresed with the immediate detection and alert to my phone within 2 maybe 3 seconds. Once alerted you can quickly view a short video and save and download it if you wish. In normal mode you can also record video at any time of day or take still images.
I also tested the connection when I was away from home and again I was very pleased with the results. I was able to rotate the camera to face indoors and even speak to my wife at home via the camera’s microphone and speaker. The camera comes with an option to use the Wansview Cloud app and service and offer a free trial of 30 days. I am currently using this but I have also tested using an Micro SD card (bought separately) for storage and that worked just as well. The camera comes with wall fixings (which I have not used) and the great thing is the thread for the wall bracket is the standard tripod size so sits nicely on my mini tripod.
As I have stated I use this to monitor out door movement but I could imagine it to be very useful as a child or pet monitor or for interior security. Wish they’d had these when my kids were growing up instead of us relying on the poor basic baby monitors we had back then. Overall I would highly recommend this camera and I am probably going to buy at least one more.
I purchased 3 cameras to install at fathers house. He now lives on his own and I wanted to be able to keep an eye on him from my home. I could not believe how quick and easy the cameras are to set up. You simply download the app to your phone, connect your phone to the wifi where the cameras are to be installed then just add each camera in the app and after about a minute the camera is ready to view on the app. The app also allows you to send links to the camera to other family members to allow them to view the live feeds. Very simple set up and very reasonable price. The quality of these cameras is excellent, as is the picture and sound. I also like the fact that I can turn cameras remotely via the app and look around. The app also allows for cloud storage to keep footage from the cameras or you can buy a micro sd to go in each camera to save recordings. I purchased a micro sd for each camera. I can then watch or download previous video footage to my phone. There is also an app for PC to view cameras too. I would recommend these cameras, easy set up and the picture and sound are brilliant. Excellent purchase.
I have used both the Tapo C200 and Wansview Q5 camera for a while and here is my review of their key differences. Both are of similar external design but the Q5 is slightly smaller (both height and width). Of the two setup of the Q5 is much easier than the C200. For the Q5 scan the QR code in the manual, create a cloud accunt, enter the wifi password and your phone shows a QR code which you point the Q5 at to finish. The C200 requires you to disconnect your phone’s home wifi and data connection and connect to a temporary wifi signal the camera generates.
Both the Tapo and Wansview Android Apps offer similar functions but the Wansview App is the better of the two, it always loads wheras the Tapo one frequently says is unable to connect. Perhaps its because I only have a mid-range phone and not the fastest but the wansview one always connects.
I originally bought a white Tapo C200 and put it on a window cill looking into the garden, but with a double glazed window the reflection of the white camera on the glass when its sunny obscures the view, the black wansview Q5 is much better. The Tapo C200 only seems to come in white. I actually covered mine in black electrical tape – not easy with its dome shape to stop the reflections.
Movement wise the Q5 is able to look down further than the C200, the up movement is about the same.
Night vision on both cameras work well when you are looking inside a room but if you use it to look out a window the IR light is reflected off the double glazing and blinds the camera. The daylight mode switches off the IR light. My garden is illuminated by a street light and whilst both cameras work on daylight mode at nighttime the Tapo C200 image is brighter than that of the Q5.
Both the Tapo and Wansview apps allow you to set motion detection. They seem to work by monitoring the change of light within the monitored image. For example clouds creating a sudden darkening of the colour of the grass create an alarm but they also pick up birds, cats, people etc. Both apps allow you to change the sensitivity of the motion detection. Both apps allow you to select part of the image the camera sees and monitor only that part which is handy to stop false alerts if for example the image also includes a road and you don’t want cars and people moving to set off the alarm, only people entering your garden. The Wansview allows you to select one square/rectangular area within the image that is monitored (you drag it to the size and shape required), the tapo app allows you to add several monitored square/rectangles – usefull if you want to monitor an angular area.
Both cameras allow you the option of saving videos to a microSD card, size up to 128Gb which you purchase separately. With the Tapo C200, if you want to save Videos or view the review reason why an alert was triggered you need to buy a microSD card. The Wansview Q5 will save the video clip – perhaps 10 seconds when motion alert is triggered to the wansview cloud. Alternatively you can have them saved to the microSD card you insert. It will do one or the other, not both. You seem to get a couple of days within which to review the Wansview trigger alerts before they are deleted on the free wansview cloud. Pay extra for longer duration cloud storage. If you see something when you review it you can download it to phone and thereby transfer it to a PC/email etc.
Of the two cameras having video clips sent to the cloud is in my view better than the Tapo which only stores videos on a memory card. As if a burgular breaks in and steals the camera then you loose the video, whereas when its on the cloud its secure. Tapo do not offer a cloud storage option.
If you use a microSD card buy a fast one otherwise only SD and not HD video will be saved.
Both cameras allow you to remotely connect to them and view live current video, and both also let you use the apps to adjust the cameras’s movement. Their is only digital zoom – pinch to expand a section of the image, which of course decreases the quality of the resolution.
Video recording. Both apps allow you to set the time period when you want the camera to record (either 24/7 or set start/stop times). The C200 allows you to both set continuous record and also send you motion detection alerts. The Wansview Q5 doesn’t have the option of continuous record it only records short video clips when the motion detection is triggered.
Both cameras have positive and negative aspects but in my opinion the Wansview better app, black colour option and cloud storage of motion triggered videos make it the better option.
I was looking for a camera mainly so i could use it for rtsp streaming, after ages of looking I went to buy one twice the price of this but discovered it had sold out. I then happened to notice something about a firmware update opening up rtsp on this camera so I thought I’d take a punt as it’s so cheap. Turns out it paid off.
Within 30 seconds of reading the instructions and registering for the app I could see myself (well more chins) in the app on my phone, I was so glad I bought a camera that moves as with a quick swipe my chins were out of shot.
I was prompted to do a firmware update soon after, which enabled the rtsp stream which was good news as I’d seen previously I’d have to contact support. I plugged the stream into my software and it worked perfectly.
The picture quality is really good, really bright and clear, the image also manages to look really good with the lights off and curtains closed (I’ve not yet tested in full darkness though). The app is simple and straightforward, I couldn’t be happier!
I’ve not tested the motion detection or the cloud storage as I don’t have the need for them right now, but given how easy it was to get this camera up and running I wouldn’t think twice about buying more of these and subscribing to the cloud service.
There are a few minor downsides, but definitely not enough to knock a star off the review. It would be nice if the date/time on the feed could be toggled on/off (but I understand why it’s there, it is a security camera after all!) and it would be nice if there was Google Assistant support, but that’s only because I use GA not Alexa at home (but that’s not a feature I need right now,a nd I was aware when I bought it)
This camera does exactly what I wanted. I purchased the camera to check on my dog whilst I was at work and was so impressed with the quality of the footage I purchased a further 4 cameras. I have 2 of these at my parents house and can check in on them at any time through the Android app. The iOS app on my wife’s iPhone works exactly the same way.
The response time between moving the camera through the app and the response on screen can vary depending on your mobile data coverage but if your 4G signal is good the response is almost immediate. The sound quality is fantastic and you can hear even the quietest sounds.
The ability to share camera feeds with other users is really helpful as I can view both parents houses though just my login.
I have an SD card installed in one of the cameras and the motion detection works great. I haven’t used the cloud service as I have no need to save the footage but this is available to you should you need it. Footage will be saved on the SD card but you are not able to view this footage unless you are connected to the same WiFi network at the camera. Cloud service allows you to access the footage anywhere.
The install process is quite simple as long as you can set your WiFi network to 2.4ghz only whilst you install the camera. You can turn on the 5ghz after the install and everything works fine.
The cheapest I got one of these for was on an Amazon daily deal for 18 so keep an eye out for that. Very impressed and would definitely recommend.
This is my second Wansview camera, but the first time I have received an item free for writing a review. All my reviews are honest so I will give the good and not so good.
My first Wansview camera is the W5 outdoor camera. Just like that camera the build quality, image quality and motion detection are superb. You can adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection. To remotely control the direction the camera points in, you download the Wansview app to your phone. Using this you can move the lens up, down and side to side and get a live view. This is very easy indeed. I’m using a micro sd card to store when movement is detected. You then use the app to scroll back through information. There is a pull down calendar so you can go back to images stored earlier. There is a timeline bar showing at what time recordings took place. You can scroll through this to find recording and then play them back.
At the moment this camera points through my downstairs window, to capture any blind spots the outdoor camera misses. At night it uses LED lights to give night time images. I have turned this off inside the app, so the LED lights don’t reflect off the window. I get excellent images using the street light.
Setting up the camera was much easier than previously with the outdoor camera, simply because I learnt a lot from doing it the first time. Nevertheless, set up was still not easy. For some reason, on set up, their cameras seem to struggle to pick up the router, even if the camera is right next to it. I checked my WiFi password each time, but it took 5 attempts for it to connect. However, once it is connected, it stays connected. All setting up is done via the app. Scanning the QR code on my phone with the camera was easy.
If you don’t want to store images on an sd card, you also have the option of using the subscription cloud service. It comes with a free trial.
The camera comes with a basic instruction booklet. A more detailed one can be downloaded from their website.
Areas that Wansview can improve on are as follows:
– it would be good to zoom in on the timeline scroll bar so that you can get better placement of the clip you want to see.
– when playing a clip it would be better if a bar comes up as on most videos so you can scroll back to something you have seen, even when the image is paused. At the moment you have to replay the clip.
– at the moment you can only take a picture if the video is playing. It would be better if you can pause the video at exactly the point at which you want to take the picture.
– downloading images and video clips is the most frustrating thing about these cameras for me. With the other camera it took me a long time to find out where the clips were being saved. In fact, they are saved withing the app. When you first go into the app there is a menu and you select ‘Me’. If you then want to download this to your phone, you need to select download on the images. Also you need to do this one at a time. You cannot select all the images you want to download. What I would like Wansview to do is create a folder ‘Wansview’ in the phone’s Gallery so that images and videos are downloaded to this immediately when finding clips.
– to download images from your phone to your pc is not too straightforward. If you use a usb to connect your phone, you need to find the WansviewPlus folder. This has subfolders . You will have to look through these subfolders to find the images. I couldn’t find all the images I downloaded, but this may have been because my phone is short of memory.
The main issues are with the app, which I’m sure they can improve. The cameras are excellent, and I won’t have any hesitation in buying another one in the future.
This is my 1st time using a “baby monitor” style camera…. main interest with this type of camera was the built-in pan and tilt feature.
As I already have an external Wansview camera then the required App on my tablet could be used for setting up the Q5 camera. The instructions provided are very clear (in good english) and follow same process as carried out with the existing camera… took me about 5 minutes and my only point I would make is that you will need to scan a QR code from your tablet or phone using the actual Q5 camera…..make sure the QR code square on the tablet screen is showing fully (I didnt realize that when it first appeared it was only partial so it was not scanning in!!)
OK… apart from that the camera connected fine.
Pan and tilt feature very easy to use (the app also allows you to “store” camera viewing positions- I thought that very handy)… the 1080p image is I think very clear, nice wide angle and the built in mic picks up very well
Its a very nice quality build, was packed in a good quality box and it comes with a very generous USB power lead (~2.5m) and also a bracket for wall mounting (bracket has some adjustment)… worth pointing out that the attachment for the bracket is the same as for any standard camera tripod so this Q5 can be mounted onto such items if required.
Just noticed that it does also have an SD card slot so you can record video internally…. the problem was the slot is hidden unless the camera is fully tilted up!!! (and you dont read/look at the instructions completely)…. video will record via motion detection (another feature!). Note you can also store video to a cloud based archive….im not interested in this feature myself but some may prefer this option.
OK, if you have any queries please leave a comment and I will try to answer… 🙂
Picture quality is amazing. Pop in a 64GB microSDXC Memory Card and this camera records everything that moves, as soon as it moves, in the room. You can add an alert to your phone to let you know and the notification alert will take you directly to the recorded segment.
Without setting a notification alert, should you want to view any recorded motion, just select the REPLAY link on the bottom right of the camera page and it will take you to a timeline that you can expand with two finger stretching to view more detailed time. Only down side is to move beyond the nagging cloud storage subscription when you go view the recordings.
To save a video recording, or take a snapshot of a recording, just touch the camera button, or if you go to your APPS STORAGE/FILES in your ANDROID Settings, in the Wansview Folder under ‘Video’ or ‘Image’ you can copy either of video or photo to your DOWNLOADS FOLDER and then share them from there. There seems to be a small glitch when trying to send to WhatsApp direct from the Wansview folder.
I have been informed by Cosette at their customer support that the app developers are working on adding a WhatsApp link to share directly from within the Wansview Cloud App.
The ZOOM on the video and photos are great too, zoom on video only works while video is playing, but the photo zoom would definitely be court room evidence quality. For a new company Wansview have some great products, and I am not being paid to say this, I am a genuine purchaser of their product and giving an honest review.
One down side to the camera is the limited WiFi range. I had problems connecting to my Sky Q router, but that was overcome very easily by installing a cheap sub 10 TP Link 2.4G WiFi repeater in the wall power plug next to the camera. Connection problems solved.
What can I say about this fantastic camera. From taking out of the box, it was very easy to install and I was up and running within 5 minutes. The instructions were clear and concise.
The Wansview Cloud app works fantastically well, it is very responsive when controlling the camera, it is amazing being miles away from home and moving the camera to locate my Dog! I cannot think of any improvements at all.
This camera has met all of my needs, I purchased it to keep an eye on my Dog when I leave the house and at night when I go to bed. This camera and the user friendly app (using on iPhone 8+) has given me so much peace of mind that I can regularly see what my naughty Sprocker Spaniel is up to!
Th picture quality is fantastic, I was particularly impressed with the night-vision, this is also very clear.
I wouldn’t hesitate in buying another one of these cameras, and I have already recommended it to friends and family!
Overall – 5/5
***EDIT***
It is 02/09 and I purchased the camera in March. Yesterday it failed to turn on despite not being moved in the short time I have owned it (Purchased March 2020).
I emailed the company yesterday and am awaiting reply. I have therefore reduced the rating until a replacement is provided.
**Further EDIT!**

Great customer service! Within a week of forst reporting that the camera had stopped working, I got in touch with Wansview who asked me to send my receipt and a short video of the camera not working Which i did. A few days later my new camera is here. Absolutely first class customer support! If only all companies were as good as Wansview with their customer support. 5* to you guys. Thanks so much.
I purchased and use the Wansview 1080P HD Wireless Cloud IP Camera Q5 and must state that I have had several surveillance cameras including the Ring system, which is excellent, however for a standalone camera with excellent definition and recording back up I cannot speak too highly of the Wansview Q5. And I highly recommend it, particularly for internal surveillance of your home, or business premises, whether it be a shop or an office.
The other matter which I would draw to your attention is the superb back up and advice that is available and which I received from “Cosette” at Wans view Support, at [email protected] Whatever and whenever I wanted information or advice they never failed me. Well done Cosette.
I am delighted with this purchase and would highly recommend this product. I intend buying another for external surveillance
Had a few issue with the camera initially and after chatting with the manufacturer we got this sorted.
The camera feels like a quality product – being use to other brands I’d definitely say this is up there with the more expensive brands if not better than them. The setup using the QR code was very straight forward even if you where not IT literate you could easily set this camera up. The image quality is excellent and there isn’t much lag between the image in the app and real time.
I think this camera might have just swayed me away from the more expensive brand.
You can change the cameras local account username and password and I have managed to get the image to show in my app I use for all my cameras. I’m not able to move it in that app but tbh the image is so wide I can see the whole room anyway so don’t need to move it using my app.
The Wansview app is good and very response – uses Face ID so that’s a bonus too.
All in all it’s a well packaged like camera and feels well built. Highly recommend buying one to watch the pets or kids! I’m using the SD card slot which seems to work fine too and allows you to go back to see what happened while you where not there.
I have a number of cameras and even though the picture quality on them is good, it is very difficult to set up the motion detection and avoid lots of notifications. Often just a change in sunlight off a reflected surface will trigger the camera resulting in lots of notifications and emails. I have had a Wansview K5 for almost 6 months and I am impressed with the motion detection. This is done on the Wansview servers and so far I have not had any false alarms even though it is pointed at our front door with a large glass window beside it, so after checking other cameras on Amazon I decided to invest in another Wansview, this time the Q5 which is at a very good price. When motion is detected it sends you a notification and a short video so you can see what triggered the alarm and which you can download. Mine seems to work fine on the default setting.
There is sometimes a short delay of a few seconds between the event and the notification usually around 2-4 seconds, I’m not sure why this is but I have noticed delays between Gmail messages sent and received so perhaps it’s the internet or my router. You don’t have to sign up for their cloud service though that would give you added storage. The new control console give you much better control over position not overshooting like the old one.
The camera comes with a long power lead which is really useful in being able to place the camera some 2 metres away from the power adapter. Set up is easy, create an account if you don’t already have one, and enter your WiFi password, then point the camera at the bar code on the phone, not as I did the first time with the K5 pointing my phone camera at the bar code on the bottom of the camera as I had to do with older cameras. Wansview helped me out with that, their support is excellent, with prompt replies.
You can use an sd card with this camera though at first sight you can’t see where to put it. Use the app to point the camera up as far as it will go and the sd card slot is revealed at the front under the lens. Note the SD card only records motion detection but you can schedule this as on 24/7 or customize the on times. You can replay the events recorded on the sd card via the app.
It comes with screws and wall plugs and also an adjustable bracket which allows you to alter the camera position vertically, which can help with placing it to cover the area you want.
The images are sharp and clear as you would expect from a modern device certainly good enough for my security uses, though I don’t have any other HD devices to compare with. The app allows you to turn off the night vision and the power on LEDs so if you want to use it pointing at window you don’t get reflections though this one will be used for internal stuff as I have a camera recording 24/7 for my front window and at a penny under 22 very good value for money.
I bought these cameras, not so much as a deterrent, but more out of a longing for feeling more secure about leaving my home unattended following a break-in. Set up was fairly easy (wi-fi connection failed first time around but connected second time around and no issue at all with the second camera.
I’m still checking them out, but so far I set the motion detection between the hours of 1 and 7 when we at at home, and sometimes when we are out. An issue by day is receiving notifications which turn out to be shadows on the walls created by passing traffic so I have to figure that one out.
I love that there are snapshots taken whenever motion is detected, as this is reassuring that evidence can be retained in a worse case scenario.
It’s great to be able to remotely operate the cameras and also to be able to focus (zoom in or out).
Another great feature is two-way audio communication in that there is a mic feature on the mobile app whereupon pressing the mic icon one can speak to whoever is in the same room as the camera.
Scheduling times for motion detection seems to be limited to two time slots to be selected on individual days or indeed all of them, but a feature that would be nice is to be able to select various time slots for different days and I have suggested this to Wansview, a suggestion they say will be taken on board.
So far, so good, and I may even purchase another couple in the near future.
Highly recommended.
So, this camera, for the price is very good. I do have some niggles which I will describe here. Yes this works with Alexa, however it’s a bit laggy with a 10 second delay between the camera and the picture on the Show 5. Also you can’t move the camera using the show or speak to people through it, however the 10 second lag would not make it possible anyway. There is only a second or 2 difference between the camera and your phone viewing, so absolutely fine, though the sound on mine isn’t great, you can understand what is being said so it’s not a massive problem and it seems to be intermittent so may be some kind of interference from something electrical in my home or next door on the camera side. My second niggle is that on some occasions push notifications do not get sent, generally it’s fine but sometimes not, which is annoying but it doesn’t affect me too much. Loads of positives for this camera, great picture as you can see in the video and photo, the movement controls are reactive and accurate. And I’ve never had any compromise on the water resistance, always great cams. So, as I said, for the price it’s a very good camera, but the viewing software and Alexa capability leave a lot to be desired. I’ve recently bought another Wansview Cam, a fixed cam for on my roof which is also very good.
I already own the K5 that I use at the grandparent’s house, and i was sure I’d receive a great product by ordering this camera, and I wasn’t disappointed. The Wifi connects only to 2.4ghz connections, and the password of the Wifi needs to be max. 32 characters – This was explained by the customer service that promptly replied when I had issues connecting. Apart from that little bump at the beginning, I was able to use this camera from the beginning without any issue. The app is simple but intuitive and the possibility of panning and tilting the camera is great if you have more than a child in the room.
The quality of the image is enough for what I need it to be, as I use this camera as a baby and pet monitor.
The infrared – night vision – is brilliant, much better than my branded baby monitor, and although there is no sound detection, the motion alert works a treat ( I found that it could also be too sensitive… that’s great as you can choose the sensitivity).
I haven’t used the cloud feature, but for the purpose I use this, I don’t feel I’d need it (unless I want to switch to home safety camera use). The micro SD option offers more than the cloud (continuous recording for example) and It’s great if you want to use it as a home safety camera (you will receive alerts anyway!)
This camera is definitely a huge upgrade from the K5, and it’s definitely more than worth the extra 9!
I bought this device for my amazon echo show. I would have given this five stars but only deserved 4 as it seems to work a little slow to my liking when trying to turn the camera from my App. Another disappointing factor is you can only change the position of the camera from the app and not from amazon echo show. However, it does everything else it says on the tin. And will be keeping it as it does the job. As long as you know how to download an app on your phone you should have no problem setting it up!! This was actually one of the easiest online cameras I have set up myself as it had clear voice verification from the camera guiding me what it was doing during the process.
Easily the best feature of this camera is the setup process. The cameras speaker gives you feedback over the process. The App uses a QR Code to pair with the camera, so hold your phone in front of the camera and seconds later the pairing is completed and speaker tells you.
The second best feature I found is that you can power this camera off a portable powerbank. I have a 2.1amp, 10k mAh Power Bank for my phone, I plug this camera in and it supplies sufficient power to use the pan, tilt, zoom and remote access. I don’t know how long the 10k will last, if I get chance I’ll test this.
I plan to buy another one of these to keep in my garage which is about 200m away from my house using a 20k power bank. The camera happily connects to my mobile phones WiFi Hotspot, it was also happy to connect mates car WiFi and send instant alerts from my garage.
The app is missing 1 maybe 2 features I would like, but I haven’t seen any cameras even near this price or quality with them. I would motion detection masking, and would love patrols. You can save. Position so you can easily move the camera pan and tilt position into a previous favourite spot at the touch of a button. Would be nice if you could set it to move through these positions at an interval. But as I said this is a high end option.
The night vision mode is really impressive and clear, takes a few seconds to switch, but that’s normal.
The speaker is prob 6/10, but the microphone is insane. It was picking up the clicking of my gaming keyboard from 4m away. This can lead to feedback if you use the phone too close to the camera.
I haven’t used the bracket / clamp that came with the camera, but it comes with a camera tripod size wall bracket, so you can mount it. You can also fix the camera so other things like a camera tripod too.
The only negative I can find is, the inbuilt microphone picks up the sound of the motor when you are panning or tilting, but that’s purely down to the small size and price of the device. Ultra Sonic motors are expensive, and sound deadening is bulky.
I have now out an SD card in, on 24/7 record (it only records when there’s motion) it uses around 2.2gb on busy day, and around 1.4gb on a slow day. So the 128gb card I put in, should managed about 2 months. The downside here is that the memory card can only be connected too from the same WiFi network.
For the price, and ease of setup, and features you really can’t find any better.
Pretty decent picture quality, excellent night vision and motion detect, had a few niggly problems at first but 2 girls in customer service Maggie and Sandra sorted me out and were extremely helpful.
Hi Guys and Ladies
I bought this camera after reading the reviews and thought, yeah it sounds Good. The camera is pretty Good. Good quality and a Good clear picture at daytime and the night vision is really Good.
Setting up is pretty easy….well mine worked the First time, even though i had to keep camera by router while pairing the Device with the Wi-Fi. Once I had set it up and downloaded the Wansview App it soon became clear that it wasn’t for me….you have set up a monthly prescription of $6.99 for using the Cloud service ( your first month is free ).
I’m not into paying for something you can get free, if you just get a proper CCTV Camera it will connect to your Wi-Fi and record on a DVR.
I know it’s just a small camera but so not worth it for me. Just extra cost very month for the Cloud service, and its service is from Hong Kong .
I used the camera in my porch for a few days and then I couldn’t get the camera to connect to my Wi-Fi. Went through all trouble shooting and stil can’t get it to connect back to my Wi-Fi. I cancelled all my future prescriptions/payments, and will be returning the camera.
Overall it’s a Good camera but the Cloud service is not for me.
Hope my review has helped
I bought this camera as I was curious to find out what my dogs did whilst left alone in the house (turns out it’s nothing exciting!) and I wasn’t prepared to pay big money for a camera if it wasn’t going to work. Here is what I found…
Firstly You need to have a power socket nearby for the camera to function.
The set up was easy. Although, I had an issue where the app on my phone (android) wasn’t showing me any images or connecting to the camera, and it gave me a couple of error messages. However on my husband’s phone (apple) it was all running smoothly. I sent a couple of messages to customer support about the issues, but whilst waiting for a response (about 5 days over a weekend) I upgraded my old phone, and installed everything onto my new phone (Android again) and it works fantastic with no issues.
Customer support couldn’t have been any nicer. The advice they gave me wasn’t relevant anymore as my new phone was working well with the app and the camera, but they still took the time to check in on my progress to see if any other issues had occurred (which they haven’t so far) .
PICTURE QUALITY
The image is so clear and smooth, but there is a just little lagging if an object/person/dog is moving at a quick speed, however for this little camera it is still an impressive quality, and unless someone comes to the door then everyone seems to move at a normal speed which the camera is more than capable of playing back to you in real time.
The camera moves side to side, up and down allowing me to follow the dogs around the room to see what mischief they are trying to cover up.
Whilst you are sat in the room, unless you are watching the camera intently and that the camera is being moved all the way to one direction – then you aren’t aware that you are being monitored or that it is moving. It makes no sound. From the spectator on the app however, you can hear and see very clearly that the camera is working it’s way around the room.
The night vision on this Q5 was quite the unexpected surprise. We have no street lights to give off any light in the room where our camera is set up, so when all the lights in the house were switched off and we checked the camera, the image again was very clear you would think a light was installed in the camera to aid with the image feedback. You could pick up every detail in the room so clearly. Again, surprising great quality from what I thought was a budget camera.
The audio on this camera, for me, is very impressive. It’s so sensitive that I can actually hear the dogs on the move before I see them on the camera (I have wooden flooring). Today when I checked in, I could hear some sort of feedback only to realise that where I have positioned the camera, it was picking up the sound of the rain hitting the house and windows! Super hearing!
I try not to use the audio feature as it upsets the dogs (1 knows the voice is coming from the camera, the other can’t figure it out) However the audio is clear, but bear in mind that there is a delay when using this feature as you have to record your message first, then it will send it through the camera. I also noticed that if having a two-way conversation via the camera, if you choose to record a message whilst the other person is also trying to speak to you through the camera, the sound is cut off so all you are receiving is the image feedback with no sound. Again, for what I thought was a low budget camera, the quality of it all is impressive.
The app can allow for up to 4 cameras – needless to say I WILL be adding additional cameras to cover a couple other areas in and around the house.
I fully recommend this camera to my family and friends and anyone considering this camera – purchased one for my mother so she can keep an eye on her oven and cooking hobs (funny story involving her nearly burning down the house twice in one week)
MY ADVICE IS BUY THE CAMERA. At this price you cant go wrong with it. The quality far outweighs what you’d expect to pay for, and it certainly gives us peace of mind knowing that we can yell at the dog anytime he even things about chewing something he shouldn’t be!
I’m really pleased with this purchase and I’ve had it for a few weeks now. Image quality is very good, both in daylight and with the nightvision – and I work with cameras so I’m pretty fussy about image quality. There are a few updates to the software occasionally but they don’t take too long and they aren’t forced – so you can choose when to allow the upgrade. The software is sufficient for monitoring your home – at times the camera movements can be a little sluggish in terms of response to your gestures, but simply tapping in the direction you wish to move seems to work better than holding your finger on the arrow. This allows you to create 4 preset positions – plenty for one room or area. Once you’ve set the positions you don’t need to move the camera any other way – so it become simple to use. It also meant I could check on my property whilst on holiday and gave me peace of mind that all was well.
On the whole this camera is good but does have some flaws
The good stuff:
It has the best video quality of any CCTV camera I have ever had. Even the night vision looks good. It’s brilliant to have a full HD IP camera
I love that it connects effortlessly with my Echo show 2nd gen.
It’s super easy to setup. No messing about at all.
The micro SD card slot is very discreet and hidden, meaning that it would be hard for a potential burglar to take out
There are however some minor flaws:
The microphone sounds rather poor. It barely picks up sound even when I turn my speakers up full blast
The internal speaker is also on the quiet side
I’m unable to control my camera using the Echo Show but I understand this may be due to Amazon’s limitations and not to do with the manufacturer.
The stream on the app can be a bit laggy and delayed. Perhaps they need to invest in more servers
It would be helpful to set up a motion detection zone.
Overall this is a good camera if you just want to be able to quickly have look at what’s happening. The ability to record straight onto an micro SD card or on the cloud using their paid plan is good as it provides an additional layer of peace of mind. If being able to listen in on it and talkback is a crucial need then I would suggest looking for another camera but if you just want to get motion alerts, quickly check up on things and have a camera that connects with your echo show then this is the camera for you.
Bought this as a gift for my new baby nephew, or his parents rather – Functioning as a Baby-Cam.
I have set up many of these cameras over the years, so I let my cousin figure it out and he actually had it working and functioning on 2 phones, within 3 minutes of opening the box!
It was really nice that the power adapter also came with a super long 2.5m USB cable, a very generous length to have for such a device.
Use of Cloud storage requires a monthly fee but you could also insert an SD card of up to 128GB, to record/replay.
There are plentiful settings to help customize to your preferences of use. His most praised was the ability to set 4x preset camera positions.
The camera quality is superb, both day and night vision, perfect.
The software is very easy to navigate and get used to within a minute. Works well for both Android and Apple devices but there was a notably better zoom depth and quality with the Android phone than the Apple.
The first user to set up the application on their phone, automatically becomes the Admin and subsequent users added after, have fewer settings available to change, which is a good thing but would be nice to have a second user with full rights to change all settings as well.
The WiFi connection is great, considering the camera first connects to the wifi, then the multiple phone handsets. There is a 1.5-2 second delay but that’s far less than expected and very nice to be that low.
There is also a slight delay when adjusting camera positioning manually but again, that’s expectable and acceptable. This is where the 4x preset positions, really helps with convenience and time-saving.
This really is a superb quality camera, cannot believe it’s this good for this price of 30, cannot recommend enough.
I wanted to increase security at my home, so I purchased the Q5 Wifi camera from Wansview. (Through Amazon).
The camera arrived well packaged and with everything you need to mount the camera to the wall or celling.
The camera is designed wonderful and is excellent quality.
It is very easy to set up, plug it in and following the in-app instructions to connect it to your home wifi network. Instructions are provided, easy to follow.
Picture quality is very good at 1080p.
Night vision is a excellent quality.
Digital zoom is also available.
This wifi camera provides two-way communication function. This means you can speak to anyone who’s in the range of the camera, and they can speak back to you.
The camera has the ability to Pan and Tilt.
When motion is detected you receive a notification by the app. You can then see video clip of the detected motion.
The camera also has a memory card slot for more storage. Also offers storage on the cloud, A month-long trial to the cloud service is provided.
I’m very impressed with this wifi camera. Absolutely a bargain!
Thanks.
Yes, I would recommend this camera without a doubt.
The camera that arrived had a technical issue, I contacted your office and found the response first class, I was immediately offered a refund or a replacement. I opted for a replacement as I felt that the other feedback on Amazon must be warranted. A new camera arrived two days later.
I found the Q5, well packed and presented in a recyclable packaging. Some thought had been put into the packaging. The cable for the camera is of a generous length and the wall socket is of high quality. It is important to follow the instructions and do everything in the right order. The instructions are clear and well written. I found the camera logged in correctly first time.
I am looking forward to utilising the 30 day cloud storage option and will do that shortly.
I would definitely recommend Wansview, in fact I already have. I think the products and customer service are excellent and meet a great price point.
I got two of these cameras. They’re nice and I like that you can just place them on a surface which is what I’ve done with both. The lens adjustment on the app can take a bit to respond but it makes this cute creaky noise when it does, lol. They were fairly easy to instal although at some point, the Wansview cloud app directed me to use their other app so I downloaded that as well but eventually I worked out that Wansview cloud app was the right one for these. I went back on there and successfully installed both and added to my WiFi. It uses 2G, not 5G. The whole process took about 15 minutes for both cameras. The cameras meet my needs and provide clear pictures. They sometimes take a bit to load but nothing too bad. Not sure if it’s the WIFi or the app itself. My WIFI is pretty good though. That’s the reason for the 4 stars. I have been using the cameras more for real-time viewing and I haven’t figured out properly how to use the cloud storage to playback but to be honest, I don’t really need that and I hope it stays that way.
I’ve decided to increase security in my home, and to do this I have purchased thisQ5 Dome Wifi camera which is offered by Wansview.
The camera arrived well packaged and contained a long USB cable, power adapter and fixing mechanisms in case you want to mount the camera to the wall or celling. I have not done this but instead just placed the camera on a piece of furniture.
Camera is nicely designed and seems good quality.
Very easy to set up, this involved plugging it in and then following the in-app instructions to connect it to your home wifi network. Instruction booklet is provided, which is easy to follow.
Picture quality is very good at 1080p. To put this in context, if you have the original Ring video doorbell, this camera is much better quality. See sample captures.
Night vision is a bonus, and also good quality as you can see.
Digital zoom is also available.
I had previously been using my Amazon Echo Spot to “drop-in” and keep an eye on my home. This wifi camera provides a better and easier way to do this instead, and also has a two-way communication function. This means you can speak to anyone who’s in the range of the camera, and they can speak back to you.
The camera has the ability to tilt vertically 80 degress up and down and horizontally 320 degrees left and right (you control this via the app). The lens is wide-angled with a range of view of 105 degrees.
When motion is detected you receive a notification via the app. You can then see ten second video clip of the detected motion.
The camera also supports memory cards up to 128gb, and can therefore store recordings for a long period of time. A month-long trial to the cloud service is provided, which offers extra peace of mind and also an ability for you to access recordings from anywhere in the world. So you have a lot of choice on how to view any alarm events the wifi camera detects.
All in all, I’m very impressed with this wifi camera. At this price as well it’s an absolute bargain!
This is my 4th Wansview camera. The previous 3 are the Q3s type. The installation for this new Q5 was simplicity itself as I already had the Wansview cloud app installed. From the app, I just clicked add new device and then chose Q5. The app then displays a QR code that you hold in front of the camera, the camera will speak and say that it has recognised the code. All you have to do is enter your wifi password and that’s it. Your new camera is setup and ready to go. The app even has a multiview screen where I can view the output from all 4 cameras simultaneously. The Q5 is a different shape from the older Q3 and I have included a couple of photos that shows the difference in size. Also, I should mention that if like me you already own the Q3s, you might think that there is no micro sd card slot. But there is, it’s just in a different location, and it shows you where in the manual. So you have the same options for storage as the Q3, local micro sd and cloud. You can also have the camera send you motion alerts to your phone. The other notable difference from the Q3s is that the infrared lights for nightvision no longer glow red, which might be useful if you were using it as a baby monitor. The resolution is the same as the Q3s but I noticed that the colours of the newer camera were closer to real life, more natural. The older one’s had a cooler colour to them. Also of note is that Wansview support is excellent. They even supplied a firmware update that changed my black Q3s to the cloud version that let me use it with the same Wansview Cloud app that my others used. In summation, this is a great camera for pet/baby monitoring or just keeping an eye on your house in general.
I have been using the Q5 for over a week now. I already use the Wansview Q3 and Bullet camera, and I would tend to sick with Wansview for two reasons; the support is generally good, and their products are usually reliable.
The camera is quite small and light which is a positive. The setup procedure is very straight forward and very quick. You do not need any technical know how to set this up.
Unfortunately, if you have existing Wansview cameras, you can not use your existing app to manage this device. The new Wansview Cloud app however, is easy to use and very intuitive. Once connected, there isn’t much to configure – you may wish to change the time zone, enable Motion Detection and configure your storage.
Without subscription to the Cloud Storage, it allows 2 days worth videos to be stored for free. I decided to use a Micro SD card instead, bearing in mind this is not primarily being used for security, for my purposes, this is adequate.
A quick note on the MicroSD card because the instructions don’t explain where it is inserted. You have to tilt the camera up to expose the slot.
The camera itself has very good picture quality day and night. The PTZ functions are OK if a bit sticky at times. As expected there is a small lag on the 2-way talk back function but this is no worse than my other cameras .
I was very eager to use the Alexa integration. Unfortunately at the time of writing, the Wansview Alexa Skill is not yet available in the UK. This was a disappointment but I am assured it will be available soon.
Overall as a budget camera, it is very good value for money, Its especially a great choice if you are very not tech savvy. If you require something a little more sophisticated and with more flexibility with its storage, go for the Wansview Q3S.
UPDATE: Alexa is now working in the UK with this device.
I bought it for home security and for a camera that would alert my phone when I am away from home. I wanted clear pictures both day and night which as you can see this does. The camera is easy to install with clear instructions on how to set the camera up . It has an SD Card and the option to store videos etc on the cloud. It also has a speaker so you are able to hear and speak through the camera. I have tried other cameras and have been disappointed but this camera is brilliant it does everything I want in a camera . The camera is also reasonably priced and well worth the purchase.
