Bought this for my son. Code came instantly , and easy enough to use. Problem was my idiot son activated it on an old disused account of his. Had to buy another one as he rung customer services who were unable to assit. The second one came just as quick and he activated it on the right account this time. very quick 100 spent.

Was concerned about buying this and was grateful for answers to a question I asked to other Amazon customers – but it has gone through fine. 12 months (13 with auto-renew) for a Xbox 1S and a significant saving on buying monthly or quarterly.

My son needed to renew his Xbox live membership and online we could only seem to find the option for 1 or 3 months. Which isn’t very cost effective! This way was quick and easy and much more cost effective. Not sure why we couldn’t find the 12 month option directly with Xbox.

Do not buy this item! You will not get what you purchased! When you try to redeem your code for 12months of xbox live you will be told that you are not getting 12months of xbox live, because your code is going to be converted by MS to 4months of game pass ultimate!! You have been warned

Okay. So my intial reaction was to want to warn people that there was a problem with this item, and look into the details afterwards.
Here’s some information that may help. The purchase from Amazon is perfectly legitimate, in that the code is indeed for 12 Month’s of xbox live. Apologies to Amazon for and suggestion to the contrary. The problem exists with MS – No surprise there! This is basically how it works. If you have a current Gamepass ultimate subscription, then you will not be able to purchase or add an additional Xbox live only subscription on your console – Your console will prevent this. However, if like me you purchase more Xbox live from Amazon and then try to extend your current Xbox live, You will be told by MS that your newly purchased 12 months of Xbox live will automatically be converted into a paltry 4Months of additional Gamepass ultimate. Now, if you don’t particulary care about game pass – After all It just consists of a few MS AAA titles and the rest are old or mediocre games- then you will certainly not want to lose 8Months of live for 4Months of Game pass. Here’s the advice I received; If you want to redeem your code as a full 12months Xbox live rather then convert it to a measley 4 months of games pass, you must not use your new code until your current subscription of gamepass expires. I cannot confirm this as yet, because I still have several months of Gamepass remaining. Hope this helps with any confusion.

I was a bit worried about the negative reviews, but I had no problems renewing the xbox gold live subscription using this code. The code was emailed and wasn’t hard to find. The number was entered on the xbox and it worked immediately, just make sure you purchase the right code for what you want to do, ie, a subscription code is different to a gift voucher code for spending on games.

I bought this for my grandson, when the code arrived I did not realise that by clicking REDEEM I was actually activating it. So when he enters the code it tells him that he can’t use it as it has already been redeemed. ( in my defence I am 74 and have no knowledge of these things.) Is there anything I can do to put this right?

The Xbox Live Gold subscription is of value only as long as the amount you pay in subscriptions is less than the savings you make on top price games, and/or the other benefits are significant for you. You don’t get any savings on recently received games that you can’t get elsewhere. There are a lot of older good games which get good discounts on the Live Gold scheme, and some are even free. But if you only buy 1 or 2 games a year, you may be wasting your money.

Had trouble activating not through the sellers fault but Microsoft allows your account to go into debit so if it will not accept the code go to your account and check that it hasn’t allowed you to go into debit as soon as you’ve paid off your debit balance it will accept the code straightaway away

I normally buy my Xbox subscription via a card in a high street retailer but they work out quite expensive compared to buying it online here, not to mention this is delivered instantly so you are good to go straight away. You also get the great Amazon customer service so for me it’s win win all round. Code worked fine on my live subscription.

Perfect. So quick and easy to use. I didn’t have much of a problem, a couple of errors popped up, but after reading carefully, saw it was because it’s an XBOX code and not a Microsoft one. I know they are one and the same, but you still need to go to the XBOX site to input it. So I did that and I was away. Stacked nicely with my 1 month subscription. – I do suggest you copy/paste direct from a browser so that you avoid human error.

Pros:
100% working. Follow the instructions to the letter after processing payment and this works perfectly.

Cons:
I am only leaving 4 stars as this product used to cost under 35 before Xbox one and prices have been driven up yet no increase in service (on xbox live) has been provided, choppy graphics and lag on a few multiplayer games on EU servers on a 60-80mbs line.

I only gave it 4/5 stars because it took over 2 hours 30 minutes, despite it stating it “usually takes less than an hour” to send the code through to the specified e-mail and “can take up to 2 hours.” So in my case it took longer than it should have done.

Although it does seem like the best place to buy the membership from, as amazon tends to be a reliable service. Definitely cheap, but not so much prompt.

Overall its a site I will most likely be coming back to for another purchase, and I would recommend. Just be sure that it doesn’t always come instantly, in the next 10 minutes, in the next 3 hours. Its a fluctuant postage service but it does work.
