For a Youtuber it’s the best, normally for YouTube voiceovers you don’t need expensive mic so this mic(Akg p120) is Perfect. There is also one similar mic known as AT2020, this one is also same in term of build quality and sound. I have Both. The cheap one is Akg so go for it.
This is perfact mic if you are beginner… You can use it for covers, voice over and instruments recording….
Using this for more thn 2 years…. Fully satisfied
It’s a mic. It does it’s job. It makes my desk look cool.
So far I’m satisfied. To my ears, this mic sounds better than the mxl 990 and the audio technica AT2020. But the difference is not that much for voice.
It’s the good condenser microphone for vocalist and instruments for bigener under this price range with a good sound quality.
I loved the product. Sound quality is great, build quality is grea

I just love it. It’s amazing. Absolutely perfect one for Home Setups
Its not supported for mixer without phantom power option… For sound system based program it’s not useful..
One of the best mikes I have. Used for vocal sand also instrument close miking. Great quality for the price and comes with a mike stand adaptor for perfect positioning
Switched to this mic to increase audio quality whilst using zoom and teams etc. The difference between this mic and the one built into my iMac is clearly audible and a significant improvement. Build quality is excellent…it’s a metal case and feels very solid. Using with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 interface.
It’s been almost a year now & the recording experience on it is spectacula
It meets my purpose! Very good Product in this budget! Recording quality improved
Extremely clear sound quality, of voice and instrument (tabla). At this price point it’s too good.
I Love this Mic as it is fantastic in build quality and voice quality. I have a few other mics that cost much more but this mic performs brilliantly in every department. A bit sensitive if you don’t have a treated environment as expected. This mic is worth it every penny.

I’m by no means an expert on audio, being a filmmaker/editor, but I also need to do a fairly substantial amount of audio work due to the relatively independent nature of some of the gigs I do.
I’ve briefly used the AT2020 on my voice and others’ voices as well as some other stuff. I only received the AKG p120 today and have only tested it with my voice, but i think i prefer this over the AT2020. Not sure about other things, and it might just be my untrained ear.
Way better than the Samson c-01 mic and the cheaper behringer mics though.
P.S. this mic doesn’t need a pop filler. It’s really good at rejecting plosives.
Ottimo prodotto per prezzo e caratteristiche. Voce pulita potente e senza fruscii.
Use Good Quality XLR Cable. U Will Be surprise with the results of this microphone.
Genuinely it really cares about money.
At this price range this one is bes
It does everything well, exceptional sound in all modes, nice shockmount and case too! Prefer the 420 over the TLM 103
Recomendado.
Produto original, bem embalado e entregue dentro do prazo, s partir pras gravaes
1) Best recording quality in this budget.
2) Shock mount not included in this pack.
3) Best of Beginners and intermidiate both
Don’t dismiss this microphone because it’s cheap. It’s better than an AT2020 in every way. Has a nice compressed, warm sound (almost vintage). Don’t worry about the fairly high self noise, you won’t notice it in most instances and it’s comparable with noise from mics 10 times the price. Best on vocals but not bad on instruments. Get one. You’ll not regret it.
Praise the Lord
I’ve small home Studio.
It’s really great condencer microphone in this price range. You can place a order? If don’t like you can replace.
Please do not go for low range of sets of recording instruments in this price range. You won’t get the quality of recording.
Buy less, buy good qualities.
Microfoni molto validi,io li uso in una radio bodcas
I have a basey thick voice. It captured it most beautifully, dynamic response is mind blowing. Just mind the fact that the case and the electronics make it extremely heavy. You will need a good stand to hold this mic well.
J’aime bien !
So far I have had this mic for over a year now and I carry it around a lot.
Very well built, and still working after a few accidental drops lol
Would buy AKG agai
Bought for the kids, but is sounds as good as my other higher end AKGs. Great value.
Honestly I have had other mics and none compare to this one, I honestly thought I sucked but after buying this mic I realized it was my old mic that was trash and not me, I wish this was my first ever mic I bought!!!! I promise you this is the best for its price
Fast delivery and well wrapped, Easy to set up and the sound is of a high standard. I am still learning about other recording features that I can use with this mike. but so far GREAT.

Don’t look at the price .. it may be low budget and cost friendly but the performance is almost as good as a high professional microphone! Amazing microphone and it should be way more expensive for the QUALITY!!!
This is brand company product so quality is best as brand
Having tried some cheaper mics and binning them, this is as good as you’ll get for the money. I use it in my small studio for Vocals, and Acoustic instruments (guitar, mandolin etc) and it punches well above its weight.
I also think it’s a bit more forgiving than my Rode in the vocal dept.
All in all, superb value for money.
This is the kind of mic which has the potential to sound amazing with a little bit of EQ and proper room acoustics. I’ve had it for a while now and I can say the first time I recorded my vocals on it I was overjoyed at the fact that what I wanted was what I got.
Although there are other mics out there with larger 1″ diaphragms, this 2/3″ diaphragm will also do the trick provided the environment it’s placed in and the vocal technique of the performer are proper.
The self noise floor could’ve been reduced but considering the quality you’re getting out of this package I’d say it’s not much of an issue as the noise gets covered up by music pretty well.
I think the boost around 6k could’ve been reduced a bit in the manufacturing or designing stage but controlling it with an EQ or dynamic compresser is easy too. It goes well with heavy voices at proper distances.
The construction is study and durable and won’t give you problems apart from the fact that it’s a bit hard to fit the regular ~Rs.500/- shock mounts you find on Amazon because they’re good.
Concluding, if your budget is around 7k, it would do you good to buy this mic and a good quality cable and if you’re somewhere around 5k then reach out just a little bit because it’ll be a good future proof investment for a while. Try not to use it with entry level interfaces like Behringer or vault as they will only rob the mic of its full potential.
Good luck to you and keep making awesome music! If you’d like to check me out my insta is @psyaprod
crisp, clear, natural, warm sound recording. also exceptionally well made and engineered. Top quality microphone all round.

Writing this review almost after 15 days of use. Would not recommend if you dont have soundproof room it records all the outside noise.
But in soundproof room the quality is amazing it gives i use this mic to record vocals the recording quality comes natural and it is good for beginners as i am also a beginner.
Thamk you!!
This microphone is a high quality device. You can feel it in the weight of it, but the sound proves it out.
I use it for recording singing and for online interviews.
I highly recommend it.
If you’re looking for budget condenser microphones, then AKG P120 is the best option to go for it. Worth buying
A really good value for money microphone. The only part it lacks is the low end which is still pretty decent for value.
It has good quality sound and the -20 switch lowers the volume enough to use it for loud instruments like drums, saxophone ect. But it’s is sensitive enough to get decent vocals as well. I did notice while using a Scarlett solo, the volume wasn’t very high. You might consider a pre Amp with this mic
To compete with mics made in China, you must make your mics in China. That seems to be the thought that AKG brought forth when they entered the home recording market. Rather than slapping their name on anonymous designs, the Vienna-based company instead designed their own circuits while subcontracting the manufacture.
Such is the case with the dual diaphragm AKG P420 (Amazon), one of the Perception series mic lineup. With a street price of $200, the AKG P420 is the higher end of the affordable mic range, but as an AKG, it’s towards the low end of their product line. It has the features and the performance to justify choosing it over a less expensive competitor. The AKG logo never fails to add an “I’m serious” note to your home studio.
Switch It Up
If you’re not familiar with the term “dual diaphragm” condenser, you might be new to the concept of multiple polar patterns in one microphone. The AKG P420 has a pair of one-inch diaphragms, the textbook definition of a large diaphragm microphone. The pair of diaphragms, along with some nifty electronics, offer you a switchable choice of cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8 polar patterns.
Most mics have a cardioid pattern, which means they have an area of sensitivity that looks sort of like the simple drawn heart shape, where the bottom of the heart is the area of greatest sensitivity. This is usually where you point toward your sound source.
Omnidirectional means equal sensitivity in the shape of a circle surrounding the mic. If you need a room mic to pick up everything, or if you have several singers recording to a single track, you can use an omnidirectional mic to capture sounds all around.
Figure-8 offers two areas of sensitivity in front and behind the mic, while rejecting sounds to the side. You could capture the sound directly from a guitar amp, for example, while simultaneously grabbing room sound from the back of the mic. Two singers can face each other while in close harmony also. Multiple polar patterns add to a microphone’s versatility, and the best “Swiss Army” microphones feature this capability.
As well as a switch to select polar patterns, the AKG P420 also features a -20 dB pad switch and high pass filter switch, used for high sound pressure levels and rumble reduction respectively.
Perceptions of the AKG P420
This is an affordable microphone that proudly honors its manufacturer’s reputation. AKG’s product page recommends the P420 for use on pianos, strings, horns, woodwinds, drums, and percussion instruments. Oddly missing from the list is vocals, yet there’s nothing that keeps this from being a very good vocal mic.
Typically, large diaphragm condensers used for vocals feature a pronounced presence peak around the 5,000 to 10,000 Hertz range. The AKG P420 comes closest to this ideal when in figure-8 mode, but there and with the other patterns, this boost is modest compared to other mics.
However, the typical inexpensive Chinese large diaphragm mic is often strident and harsh, overproducing sibilance for some voices because of that presence peak. Putting a mic like that on a solo violin may be an invitation to a screech fest.
The AKG P420 is, by design, going to avoid those issues, regardless of which polar pattern you choose. Its frequency response curve for the cardioid pattern looks silky, and this plays out in practice. Voices are clear and articulated without hype. It’s the large diaphragm sound that still sounds natural.
Other Specs
Published numbers are sometimes of little value, originating in lab conditions that your home studio will never see. Usually. These favor the mic over the user, but with the AKG P420, we see a specification that works the other way. Signal to noise shows as a modest 79 dB, which isn’t a stunning figure. Yet, pumping preamp gain for miking an acoustic guitar at about 18 inches displayed no self-noise. Noise was never an issue, despite AKG’s rather average assessment of the mic.
With a maximum sound pressure handling of 135 dB straight and 155 dB with the pad switched on, there’s little short of a rocket launch that the AKG P420 won’t handle in terms of volume, so don’t worry about placing this mic in front of a screaming guitar amp. In fact, its frequency response will likely keep the scream to a minimum.
Conclusion
The AKG P420 (Amazon) is most at home with acoustic instruments, though, producing very balanced and flattering results, without brittleness in the upper frequencies. You’ll be hard pressed to find a use for this mic where it completely fails, the hallmark of a great all-purpose mic. For a couple hundred bucks, you can buy a lot of value with the AKG P420.
Just tested the AKG condenser microphone. For the price it’s really good quality product.
Sound quality is as good as the expensive ones.

This mic is excellent for beginners like me. Trust me u can’t have this quality in this price range. Mic is heavy and not made of cheap quality material. I was lucky that i got this mic by paying just Rs.5863/- in a deal and I’m superb happy with this
Well, I’m an amateur, so my poor ears say it’s great.
Well, I’m an amateur, so my poor ears say it’s great.
The mic is really good. Sturdy. Good quality vocals. At a price range, this really seals the deal. Note this a cardioid electrect condensor mic. If u are looking for a large diaphragm, true condensor mic, then go for the higher version.
This Mic is really good. I got it hooked up to a M-Track Solo Interface and It’s pairs well and sounds amazing. It also arrived just 8 days where as the expected was 20.
It comes very nicely packaged in it’s own flight case, which gives it ample protection. It is quite heavy when installed on the shock mount that’s designed to hold it. This meant I had to apply a counter balance to boom arm on the mic stand but maybe I just need a heavier duty stand. The frequency response is a bit ‘peaky’ in the upper frequencies but considering the low price, I guess it has to be expected and it overall it does give a good recording. It is a true condenser mic and not an electret condenser as somebody else that reviewed it has stated. Overall it represents very good value for money and if it had a smoother top end , I would have given it five stars.
Amazing quality for a condenser microphone at this price, I was blown away!
Nice and heavy, good tones, it doesn’t fit any of the shock mounts I have sadly but it does come with its own attachment to connect it to a stand or an arm
I always love the AKG brand, I have the wireless version as well and have proven them over the years.
The tone is great, it gives your voice a warm rich sound and it has a good weighty feeling to it. I recommend it as it comes at a great price range go for it.
The sound quality was nice, however I did have difficulty with the instructions as to how to set it up. However, if you are used to mics then this one could be the right one for you.
The sound that comes from this microphone is better than some costing several thousand pounds more. I have been lucky enough to use several higher end AKG mics e.g. the 414. I have even had the chance to record with a Neumann U87, and I can tell you that this is just as good if not better in my personal opinion. It is very clear, and sounds near enough as close to real life as I think you could possibly get. Many microphones I have used colour the sound in some way that is very noticeable to the point you can often pick out what mic a song was recorded with, but this only very slightly has its own colour, which I very much like. Let me clarify, it definitely does have its own unique sound which adds to any recording, but it still very much sounds like the sound source you were trying to record, and I love that. It is natural while being ever so slightly unique. Perfect for recording literally anything from podcasting and streaming to singing and recording acoustic instruments.
