I have used it for about a week and have not used all of the features yet. I really like everything so far.
Many good features and functions to this keyboard for a great price!
I love everything about this keyboard. As a beginning player, I love the feel of it, close to an actual piano. The sound is amazing, and it’s great with headphones as well. It’s a little heavy for some who might need to set it up each day as I do, but not outrageously so. I love this keyboard.
The piano has keys just like a grand piano. I recommend it to anyone who wants a keyboard piano with 88 hammer action keys.
My wife decided to learn to play piano, so I bought her this for her birthday! So far, we are both very pleased with it! It has very good hammer-action fully-weighted keys, so unlike most less expensive digital pianos, it feels much like a conventional piano, but takes up far less space, is very portable, and she can practice with headphones!! It has built-in stereo speakers, and reasonably good sound quality, though certainly not as loud as a baby grand. It has analog audio out, so it can be connected to an amplifier if needed. It has lots of excellent other voices including some nice organ sounds. I also bought a pedal for it, which works very nicely with different voices. Lots of features! I highly recommend this!
This piano is not the best. I’ve since been exposed to pianos with much nicer keys that allow you to control your dynamics more precisely. As well the finish on the keys feels a little cheap. But for the value its been great so far and I recommend this has a first piano, if you want to go digital on a budge
It’s big.
It is clearly a high quality piece of kit. As a beginner I’m confident that I spent just a little more than I was hoping to but now have something that will respond as my laying develops. I won’t have to change when I start to be able to play better. It’s good enough for great players and forgiving enough for newbies, like me. That in itself provides motivation to practice more and play better. I’m really happy with my purchase.
For beginners this is a perfect instrument to learn on, there is not a multitude of buttons, knobs or sound patches to confuse people, just a basic array of the usual modules, Piano, organ, strings etc.
(FREU)
The keys are appropriately weighted and the sound is fantastic.
Well done!!
Very happy with the keyboard. I am pleased with the sound quality and construction of the keyboard. I did not want a keyboard that had many options that I would not use so this is perfect for me.
One thing I would like to see improved is the stand. I wish it would be enclosed so some of my music would not fall through the opening. My husband and I will come up with a way to enclose the stand with a piece of thin plastic or some other material.
Other than the stand I would receommend this to anyone that wants to enjoy playing at home.
Our daughter uses piano for her piano lessons it works very well for her with weighted keys and the sound is dynamic.
There is one reason and one reason only this piano doesn’t get a five star review from me: THE GODAWFUL MUSIC STAND. If you want to play with loose leaf sheet music it constantly falls down and sags because there’s no support in the music stand. You’ll have to put it in a binder or something.
Sound is great, it’s perfect for a casual player like myself. Appreciate the 88 keys and hammer action because I like to break out the Chopin every once in a while. I just wish the music stand was better.
I’m not a pro yet^. But for those music Enthusiast out there this is a must have. That’s all I can think of.
I bought this for my 11 y.o. son who is studying piano at school. He wanted not just a classical piano, but also a nice electronic keyboard to play different sounds.
Well, this is it. It is very easy to switch from an instrument to the other, easy to add special effects and also possible to split keyboard in two to play two different sounds separately.
Maybe the piano sound is not to the level of Yamaha or Casio, but it is fine anyway and the loudspeakers are very fine and powerful enough for indoor playing. But the features and ease to access them are way superior.
We had to buy the adapter for the headphones because the plug is the big professional one.
This piano is also very nice looking.
The offer with the pedal included has been very convenient compared to buy the products separately (actually already the piano alone was more expensive than the pack)
I love everything about it. Sound quality is excellent. If you’re looking for a keyboard. This one’s a winner. Nothing negative to say. I’m 76, began playing 70 years ago…so…I’ve had a few years of e experience.
The keyboard is pretty much what you would expect for the price. It feels really good to play, and is a bit on the heavy side, but everything else is pretty much as you would expect for a beginner model keyboard.
This is also just a keyboard, so you will need to buy a stand, and a sustain pedal. If you’re just a beginner or not too fussy you can just use a regular chair instead of buying a keyboard bench, so remember to tack about $100-150 onto the price if you’re starting from scratch for the whole setup.
Speakers are not great but they get the job done, especially in the mid range. The high end comes out a bit muted, so you might want to use headphones or different speakers if that bothers you.
Keyboard is a bit on the heavy side, but I don’t travel with it and its not so heavy I can’t just move it around a bit by myself if I’m rearranging a room or cleaning under it.
I would also suggest turning off the reverb, it sounded pretty bad until I turned that off.
I just moved to university and was really missing my piano at home, so I tried out this keyboard and so far I love it!! It’s not exactly the same key weight but it’s very close. It’s also pretty easy and simple to set up and use. Would definitely recommend!
Great feel to keys, sound could do with being better without making adjustments in the settings. But once done this is a really great sound.
Great 88 key piano
Big, bulky
Weighted keys, takes alot of effort to press, but gives the feel of an acoustic piano
Sound quality isn’t too good
But overall, it was a good buy
Absolutely love it. Great for this beginner and much easier to transport than a regular piano because I’m also a renter. The keys are semi- weighted, which is a good compromise for someone like me, who can’t afford an actual piano.
Decided to go back to piano as a senior, during the pandemic. Spent several awful years as a kid with forced lessons (familiar story to many – with old-school teacher/endless scales/learning tedious music I STILL don’t like!). Amazingly, the fingers remember! And now I’m learning to play the music I truly love!
So, knew I wanted a full-size dedicated digital piano (not synth keyboard) with at least semi-weighted keys. Sound was really important, since I have a musician’s ear, and can tell the difference between makes of concert grands. On a small pension, so budget disastrous. Classic champagne taste, beer budget…
Researched inexpensive models for months. Choice narrowed down to the Yamaha P45 for its build, action, and reputation, and the Alesis Recital Pro for its sound and unbeatable price. Judging a piano’s sound from the web is hard. Audio may, or may not be HD, and manufacturers are likely tweaking the sound to improve it. Fortunately, I have audio HD on my laptop, and an audiophile, studio headset. But the source is still obviously mp3/mp4, not flac/wav.
Found that I actually preferred the clear sound of the Alesis over the Yamaha – which sounded more neutral and without character.
What clinched it for me was that Amazon makes the Alesis Recital Pro available with 5 equal/no fee/no interest payments. This made it a no-brainer for me.
Out-of-the-box:
Attractive, simple, solid, well-designed unit. Controls adequate (it’s definitely not a synth) and straightforward. Standard piano mode with reverb and optional pedal is my default and remarkably good. The other instrument modes actually sound more real through the onboard speakers. Through better speakers/headsets, they sound disturbingly synthesized – at least to my ear. Alesis obviously put their primary effort into the piano sound. The other instruments almost feel like add-ons.
Key action has three adjustment points, which are adequate, given the price. By no stretch can you get the nuance and delicacy of tone/volume of a true piano, but for the price, that would be a fantasy. And it’s ‘way better than the deadness of an unweighted keyboard.
I found the straight-up sound and amp output good – actually better than expected. Little did I know…
So I decided to do a “What’s REALLY in here?” experiment, and dug out my studio cans. It was a revelation.
OMG! There’s a wannabe Concert Grand hiding in there! Ok, ok, slight exaggeration 😉 , but the difference between the dinky speakers and audiophile headphones was like night and day. And it sounds far better than many pianos featured in films or on Youtube.
So out-of-the-box I gave the sound only 4 stars, because the true sound of this extraordinary piano is crippled by tiny, crap speakers. The next step was to hook it up to a high quality sound system. In my case, a venerable, but crystal-clear Yamaha surround system with Polk speakers. Again, quantum leap in sound quality and presence. Alesis might actually do better to sell it speaker-optional, although that would probably scare some beginners away – even though hooking it to a sound system is simple.
So, no Steinway D Hamburg in my future. But’s that’s ok. I look forward to eventually getting the Pianoteq software, and using the Alesis to recreate many of history’s greatest pianos. But for now, job one is to get my playing to where I can do this amazing digital piano justice…
Great quality bought for my 12 and 10 year old for their grade 2 piano
My son played piano on a smaller keyboard this year and we decided to upgrade to a full-size electric piano. The sound is SO much better! I love the weight of the keys too. It came quickly and was in great condition.
I grew up playing a Roland FP8 digital keyboard which I absolutely adored. Unfortunately it is irreparable now because they no longer make the capacitors needed to fix it. As a music teacher, I have pretty high standards and many bugaboos about digital keyboards. As a person who lives in an apartment, an acoustic piano is not a viable option for me. So I set about replacing my beloved keyboard with great trepidation.
This keyboard is fantastic! I’ve had it for a few months, and have had none of the volume control issues other reviews cite. Very responsive touch control. Nice options for alternate voices that you might actually use. I do find that when I transfer back to an acoustic piano, I have to lighten up my touch a bit, but that could be do to the lower volume I set the keyboard at to accommodate my neighbors in the apartment building. I wouldn’t necessarily set it up and play a recital in public with it, but for at-home practice and the sheer joy of playing? It’s absolutely perfect. And for this price? Nothing else even comes close.
I have played piano all my life, with good vertical pianos and since 25 years ago in a Petrof Grand Piano (175 cm). I needed a piano for a vacation home and after reading reviews of Casio and Yamaha electric pianos (my fiesta chorice) I purchased the Alesis based on the good reviews and excelent price. I had not heard before about the Alesis.
Even when you could not expect an electric keyboard meet the exact sound of a prime grand piano, reality is playing the Alesis has been very much satisfactory with the feeling of the keys and sound. I had to separately buy the sustain pedal and works perfect. You can play fortissimo or piansimo naturally. The only thing I have not find on line is a hard Travel case for this keyboard, and it is a big and heavy piece.
I do not knorr about pianos for beginners, nor need more sounds or rithms, so I was not interest in paying for 100 artificial different sounds and lots of rithms, I only need a good piano for someone who enjoy playing at home and this has been a perfect purchase. I am so happy that I am planning to buy another one to gift it to one of my brothers who also need an additional piano.
Brilliant for my daughter whos preparing for her grade 3 exam
Great sound and plays just like a piano really pleased with i
I was looking for a full-size 88 keys e-piano for my son who started his piano lessons. For a bit less than 370 Euro Alesis was offering a nice instrument with hammer mechanism – it sounded like a decent offer and I went for it.
What I liked about it:
– Value for money – you are definitely getting a decent instrument with good sound and realistic dynamics of the keys
– Build quality – the instrument feels solid and qualitative
What I didn’t like about it:
– Piano sound is a bit artificial
– Speakers are not strong enough
– Controls/Menu are a bit complicated – it took me quite some time to figure how to do basic things – change the tempo of the metronome, etc
Summary:
Great value for money, definitely the right choice for beginners, especially if you are not sure, how long the passion for music is going to stay with you.
Alesis Recital Pro actually re-ignited my passion for music that I thought was already gone. So I decided to invest more into the instrument and got Yamaha P-45 instead. This is a different (an more expensive) story, but thanks to Alesis for bringing me back to music agai
The piano arrived in perfect condition. It plays well but the only drawback is the slightly lower quality sound to something like a yamaha. I use this as a MIDI piano however so this isn’t a problem as I this lets you choose whatever sound you want. I would certainly recommend this for begginers and those looking for a modern sleek design.
The ALESIS keyboard is good value for the dollar if all your interested in is having a keyboard to play at home without buying a real piano or an expensive brand. Keys are weighted and have a nice response. Built in speakers are adequate for solo/practice work but are unsuitable for ensemble playing as they don’t get loud enough. All connections are on the back so it’s a little inconvenient for plugging in headphones. Sustain pedal must be bought separately. It’s perfect just for having something to play or practice on and easy on the budget.
I am very happy with the quality of the keyboard and of the sound. Everything is very intuitive and fun for me and my family. I’m happy to have went with this model instead of the economic one! Big Difference!
Tolles Epiano!
It’s ok for the price, nothing to shout about. The volume is fairly low, even at maximum. Weighted keys are nothing like an acoustic piano, but adequate. We bought it for private practice with headphones, so it serves its purpose. We have a baby grand piano, for when we master each new piece privately on the Alesis!
Great keyboard for beginners and more advanced alike. Great sound.
Son loves it. Bought it for him for Christmas and hasn’t stopped playing. He previously had a rockjam but the difference in quality and sound is amazing
The piano feels good to use, only complaint is that the keys can be quite noisy when played anything more than gentley.
For the price, it’s an amazing piano to do the majority of my actual practice on.
It was a Christmas present and the recipient is very pleased with it.
Good piano to start learning. Good keyboard dynamics. Works perfect with midi/usb connected to ipad
I LOVE this keyboard. Just starting to learn piano and it is exactly what I wanted, without too many extras. The quality is excellent, and after a month of using it I can’t believe what a great starter keyboard it is for the price.
I am delighted with the quality of the Alesis pro recital.
The sound, feel and look of this piano is superb and I would strongly recommend it.
It is certainly good for beginners but also for more advanced players too.
This was recommended as a first time beginner piano from my sons teacher and a few you tubers I watched. The sound quality, overall experience and use is really worth every penny! Very happy with this purchase! More importantly, my son is amazingly productive and loving it!
I bought this as a beginner/learner and didn’t want to spend a fortune plus wanted fully weighted keys in order to simulate a pedal piano about 2 months ago. I looked at the keyboard within the price range I wanted. My final choice was between this keyboard and another with a wider variety of voices. I opted for this model based on what I needed to learn with and I don’t need a large variety of voices this has plenty of choices for me.
This is easy to program and use. I found it to be perfect for me.. Good tonal quality however don’t expect to blow out the walls with the speaker volume but it is loud enough for practicing. I don’t expect to use it in a professional situation but can if I want by running the output through an amp.
Be sure to read the literature on it’s features they all work as advertised. The construction is good a sturdy and have no issues other than it is a large keyboard and you’ll most likely will want to purchase a stand.
Most of my practice time is spent using headphones mainly because I don’t think anyone wants to hear the same thing over and over again.
The weighted keys do have some adjustments so you can lighten them or increase the key action.
I am very happy with mine the only thing I don’t like so far is the max speaker volume but it is good enough.
Realize for a beginner this is really good however once you get to a professional level you will probably look to upgrade as it is mostly hard plastic but not flimsy.
I do think for the price and quality it is excellent. I love mine.
I did also purchase a sustain peddle, stand, headphones and cloth cover.
I operate mine off a power outlet and have not installed or tried battery power yet.
Great digital piano with weighted keys for beginners and those returning to playing after a long break. I also like it’s portability. Volume can be adjusted.
If I was to improve versatility; I would add pads
Lovely keyboard
Full sized keys
I would recommend purchasing sone headphones to allow silent practice
This piane exceeded my expectations. It is SO versatile. I’ve easily configured to my needs.
Shipping was very quick, was well packed and ti was up & running “right out of the box”.
Just remember to order a sustain pedal. Fourtanly I had one from Amazon from a previous order.
This is an most excellent product.
Here the volume My daughter is very pleased with this piano. She is a beginner started playing at school in September and Alexis Piano motivated her to learn more songs to play. She had it more than a month and everything has gone great. The delivery was very speedy and the packaging was very impressive.
I am learning on this keyboard and I am happy with it. I would rather be beginner with a good keyboard and this is mid rage and for the price very good quality. I am not expert with piano so can’t say much more but have had previous keyboard which was not weighted keys so this to me is a better product and well made.
It has a great feel with the weighted keys and I love a couple of the sound patches. The piano sound is what I was going for and the organ sound is also pretty good. For the money this piano is a home run. You could pay a lot more and not get much more quality. I highly recommend it for casual home play or for beginners that are just starting out. Amazing value! I’m very happy with this purchase!!
