I didn’t want to spend a fortune on a smart watch but I also needed specific things.
Firstly I want to read texts, see who’s calling me. This watch does this perfectly. I walk round London and this is invaluable to me as i dont need to get my phone out to see who text. Therefore i dont put myself on offer to thieves.
I wanted good battery life. This watch seems to last forever. For how I use it. The battery is excellent. Over 12 days easily on a charge
I don’t do social media so I couldn’t tell you if my life depending on it whether you can access these things.
Secondly I commute on a bike, ride socially and do indoor cycle sessions. This watch will monitor my rides. Track me on GPS and give me heart rates. Plus if I listen to music access and control from the watch.
I also road run and this does the same for that.
Now sometimes the accuracy of the watch does fluctuate. For example. My return commute on the bike. When converted to the Adidas app showed my average speed to be 94 mph. This is incorrect obviously as I’m not Lance Armstrong. But the miles and time we’re spot on. I can only assume as I had two long sleeved garment covering the watch it made it a bit squiffy. But that’s ok. It only cost 50. I’m not expecting NASA type approved navigation for that price.
I have to confess. I almost gave up on this watch. I’ll explain why….
I did my first couple of indoor rides. Over 30 miles. The watch recorded the effort I had done and a very broad guess at the Mile’s I had completed. But most importantly for me that I had done the exercise.
When this syncing to the Adidas app occurred. It recorded a blank session record, of all zeros. I was slightly vexed by this. I applied for a return based on this.
But then whilst sitting on the toilet I had an epiphany. I realised that in fairness to the watch it has no basis to compare what I have done. The Zepp app shows the effort and recording of effort (heart rate, vo2 and such like) But not the distance covered. Again not on a budget priced watch. But according my colleagues who have more expensive watches. Not on there’s neither.
I kept the watch and persevered.
Now I understand it better I love it.
So as I’m still learning about this watch I’m finding out other good things.
So if you need a good budget watch to get into the smart watch game. Definitely seriously consider this one. You won’t be disappointed.
Also the watch face isn’t huge. Which I like. I’m not into massive watches. The strap is nice a comfortable. So when I wear it normally its slightly loose. But when I train I tighten it a hole or two for better heart rate monitoring.
It charges really quickly too. Which is a godsend somedays
The Zepp mobile app is good and not buggy. I does take a bit of getting used to fir navigating through the stuff. But this is jus repetition which will iron that out. Anyone with a modicum of sense can manage. Crikey, if I can do it. So can most and as you’ve guessed by now I don’t work for NASA building shuttles….
I hope this review has helped a bit in giving ny insight into this watch.
Key points:
Its simple.
Its reliable.
Its cheap.
Also Its from Amazon, so any problems they will sort it out.
Good watch but Shane amazon outsourced to another maker app not as good as fit it app I have a old fitbit blaze the blaze is more accurate but amazon’s watch not far off the mark bought pro with GPS magnetic charger is great battery life about 5 days strap is horrible orderd a amazon metal strap
I previously owned a galaxy smartwatch and I got rid of it because battery life was poor and it was so invasive that it felt like it ruled my life! Bought this (much cheaper) watch purely to wear when excercising and I can quite honestly say that I could wear it all the time – it’s so good. Battery life is absolutely amazing, the app is brilliant and integrates perfectly with strava and the exercise functions are superb with accurate gps etc… For what it costs this thing is perfect…just buy one !
Thought this would be cheap rubbish. I have owned Garmin and Fitbit and apple watch. This matched all of them in the sleep, steps and Gps mapping. I didn’t think it would but it honesty did! I love rural area but had no issue getting strong GPS connection and fast. Accurate mapping of my walks with dog displayed on device. App not as good as others but only just behind. Literally child’s play to set up, light as feather and so comfortable you wouldn’t know u had on. Brilliant. I would consider the top of range model nex
So, I bought this in late Sept 2021, and to be honest I wasn’t going to do a review. Sadly after a few weeks, it seems to stop changing. I spoke to Amazon, who kindly organised a refund. it looked well-made and lite to wear. When I took it out on the bike, it recorded the route accuracy (compared with other cycle apps), battery life was good (apart from when it stopped). However, the mobile app that comes with this is call ZEPP. This is the Q I asked about this in April. ‘During workouts does it give audio commentary e.g. tell you when you have done a mile and what your heart rate is going etc?’ I had a monosyllabic answer ‘No’, which wasn’t helpful and wrong. The app does in fact give the wearer audio feedback for your heart rate, and other values such as Time and distance. So, if like me you wear this during cycling (with one ear piece b/tooth to phone) then every mile (or Km) it will update in your ear, miles, overall time, time for last mile run or cycle, heart rate etc without you have to look at your watch while training. I contacted the Amazfit’s IT support about this excellent feature & they didn’t seem to realise it did this too. In the meantime, I bought another tracker, but kept the ZEPP app.
ZEPP still tracks my cycling with audio feedback without having an Amazfit watch present! All that said, I am looking again that this brand, I think I might have had a one-off one, so I wouldn’t to put anyone off, but if you want this for cycling or running, I cant recommend the free app ZEPP enough. I hope this is a fair review and others find it useful
Didn’t want to pay 400 for smart watch so did some research and this came up time and again.
It does exactly what it says on the tin not sure how accurate the oxygen is but otherwise for 50 it’s fine
Really good upgrade from the amazon bip strap. The button makes a massive difference to track my swimming rather than a touch screen. The battery is great and the display is fantastic for checking the time quickly when I’m on the bike. You can change the watch face to your own preference which is handy too! Can’t think of any flaws
Amazfit Bip U Pro Smart Watch is a great fitness tracker for its price and it has plenty of health-related features. long battery life. Good value for money
This is more like a Fitbit that anything else. Mobile text notification is great, just missing that one extra ability to answer the mobile when it rings.
It really is a lovely watch. The app is okay, better than most watch apps. I like that you can change the watch face. My only little complaint, which is a me issue, not a watch issue, is its been rubbing on the sides of my wrists which has caused a slight reaction. I’ve been adjusting the straps but then the watch doesn’t work as effectively. I have attached pictures – luckily it’s a good day and it’s no longer scabby, just itchy. I’m not sure what to so with the watch now, either I’ll suck it up, wear plasters on the area or find straps that I don’t have a reaction too.
Regardless of all the above, it is a lovely watch and I have been recommending it to everyone and even bought one for my partner!
works fantastic, the key point to remember is that the screen looks smaller in person and its not Oled display, look at Oled screen alternatives for always on display and better battery life.
Nice build quality, sturdy and very easy to see the display when running etc. Strap is soft plastic and is a bit uncomfortable when you’re warm after a run but no complaints. The built in GPS is such a game changer and at at this price point, the telemetry on the watch itself and the app is second to none. Every possible piece of information relating to your cadence, heart rate, pace, stride etc is included. You should have no complaints about the sheer quality of information available to you. If you are a casual walker etc them perhaps the Xiaomi Mi Fit Band would be better but if you want all the info and tonnes of sports modes, blood pressure, stress monitor, sleep information etc then this is the watch for you.
No reaction to the strap, no burns from the laser. Tracks usage fairly well, wasn’t happy about rain and cycling, seemed to loose gps connectivity for a large chunk of distance but other than this working brilliantly.
No issues really with the watch itself. One thing though if wearing for a long period of time Dan irritate the skin. This being said take it off 20-30 minutes a day seems to solve this
I have had three amazfit watches started with the neo which is basic but amazing battery life then went to the bip u lite and again great had all the functions need for the couch exerciser again amazing battery life. Thought to upgrade to the bip u pro as there were added functions which I thought were usable, yes there are advantages to lite version better screen, Alexa, so2, gps, stress and a few other functions for the athletes amongst us. However the trade off is battery life and I mean wow what a difference instead of once a month for the lite it’s four days max. So if you have read other comments on accuracy etc and are happy to buy one you will like what you get for the price. If you don’t need all the functions and what a long battery life look at the bip u and bip u lite.
I am very impressed with this watch so far (had it 2 weeks). It does everything I wanted it to.. measure heartbeat, stress, blood oxygen, steps, exercise, sleep, has breathing exercises.
It doesn’t store music but you can control your music from your watch (play, pause, forward, rewind). The Bluetooth connection hasn’t dropped out yet when I have been exercising outside either.
I bought (and returned a Fitbit Versa) and got this instead…at less than half the price and I like this watch much better.
It’s light on your wrist, has interchangeable straps and clock faces. It’s also a nice size (I felt the Fitbit was too big on my wrist).
I would highly recommend this watch as its easy to use and does everything the more expensive ones do too.
I enjoy the watch and my one complaint is that the blood pressure measure is presumably represented by the stress indication. It would have helped to have a booklet with every feature clearly explained.
This is the first smart watch I’ve owned, so I will have nothing to compare it to. I’m mainly using it to track walks/runs and to record sleep. I really like it so far and for my fairly limited use, I don’t feel the need to upgrade any time soon.
Positives:
-The zepp app is great. I’m not really interested in using the watch itself for reading information from, but everything syncs to zepp so I never need to. It has the ability to link to other app accounts. I have it linked to google fit and strava and it works flawlessly. Whenever I finish a workout, I get a strava notification within seconds telling me it’s been uploaded.
-PAI, which is a metric built into the zepp app, works well at motivating me to get out. It’s based on how much you’ve done in the last week, so if you’ve not done anything for a while the score starts to drop right off. As quite a lazy person who loses track of time easily, it’s a good reminder when I haven’t done anything for a few days.
-GPS works really well. Part of the reason I got this watch was that I was using my phone to track walks and the GPS would jump all over the place. I’m pleased to say this doesn’t happen at all with the bip.
-Sleep tracking seems to work well, at least in terms of overall duration. Not sure about the phases, but I do tend to be more tired when the app shows less deep sleep, so it’s doing something right.
-Build quality feels good. I faceplanted and dragged it along the ground on a run a couple of weeks after buying it, and the face got a little scratched, but no real damage was done.
Negatives:
-The silicone strap it comes with started to irritate my wrist after a couple of weeks of constantly wearing it. I’ve now replaced it with a nylon strap. On the plus side, it takes quick release straps so it’s very easy to replace.
-While the GPS works flawlessly, it doesn’t use it to get altitude. When a walk syncs to strava, it has the entire thing at the same height. Fortunately, strava itself does allow you to go into each workout and update altitude from GPS position, but it’s a manual step that doesn’t need to exist.
This smart watch is amazing, I would recommend this watch to anyone. Monitoring stress levels has been a great experience and helps me so much. I can’t believe this item is so affordable. Fantastic value for money! Don’t just think about it, just get one!
Not too sure about this watch. It is a good quality item. The App drains my phone battery quickly, also some of the functionality from the watch to Alexa and phone don’t work very well. The bluetooth interferes with my ear pods.
Easy to set up, loads of customisation options, comfortable, pretty accurate for cal burn (in comparison to machine readings), battery lasting around 9 days. Opted for this as a cheaper option to Fitbit (didn’t want to plough 100-150 sheets into a watch and break it at work) and have to say my expectations have been excelled. Brilliant bit of kit, recommend to anyone
If you are skeptical do not worry. I bought this for my other half and it does everything any smart watch will do. I bought both this and the gts for myself and they are epic.
easy to set up
music control works very well, including volume control. GPS is accurate. very light weight. screen is easy to see even in bright sunlight.
simple but superb watch.
Not as capable as the high end smart watches, but does the basics well enough and has far superior battery life to devices 3x the price.
I get as much a 14days if I reduce the rate of heart rate measurements.
I’m not too sure of accuracy since I have nothing to compare it to. it does miss heart rate measurements occasionally but it’s no big deal for me.
I wanted a cheap fitness tracker just to monitor heart rate in the gym and this hits the spot. It’s actually excellent at lots of other things too and is better than my partners fitbit that cost 5 times as much. Strap felt a little flimsy but it’ll take any 20mm strap so I spent 5 on one and it’s much better. Battery life seems excellent, HR readings are slightly lower than my Garmin bike computer used with the chest mounted HR monitor but it’s all good. App works well and links in easily with Strava too 🙂
Stress monitoring, step goal, HR, sp02, it does it all, well recommended
I would give this watch a star but there are no instructions and it took a while to work out which app was appropriate. . Having sorted it out I’m really pleased with the functions and style. The GPS is very quick to get a fix. It’s a compact size but the screen definition is very clear. Would definitely recommend it.
The watch is a good price, I want to track my bike ride (not to confuse with cycle) and heart rate, which it does easily.
Other watches can irritate my skin, due to the type of metal, but this doesn’t, so I can wear it to bed and track my rubbish sleep.
Only one niggle, which I’ve mentioned to them through the app, is when you turn over, when sleeping in the night, it illuminates, and at dark o’clock, fairly bright.
Overall, I’m happy with it.
Thinking of buying an Apple Watch, perhaps reconsider!
I wasn’t sure that this would meet my needs as both a fitness tracker used for my walking and cycling, but also track my sleep etc! I’ve had mine for a month now and how wrong I was. Although I doubt the total accuracy of the as sleep function, I’m not convinced that more expensive devices are that accurate either. However it is a good guide. When it comes to cycling and walking, it matches my Strava. More impressive and similar to Apple, it shows the route and the degrees of exertion expended. It even receives my text messages! I have sat beside a few people now who own Apple watches and watched their faces as they explain what their watch can do as I say, “Look, mine can do that too”.
Like many thing we buy and watches in particular, for some it’s all about “brand”, but I have an Omega watch which keeps perfect time as accurately as a 15 Casio! But if you want something that “does the job” extremely well and in many ways equally so at a price which is totally affordable, then I highly recommend buying this smart watch.
I am actually really gutted as I thought the watch was amazing in every single way apart from the watch not being able to read my heart rate which in turn would not track my sleep as the watch needs your heart rate. Unfortunately I have 2 sleeves of tattoos and I honestly think that the watch could not pick up my heart rate through the ink. It is a shame and would be great if they could change the sensors. I had to send my watch back and go back to Apple Watch as I do not have that problem. It is a shame as the watch is so nice it is light and responsive in every other way. The screen is amazing and the built in gps wails have been great too and if amazfit do manage to fix this problem in the future I would definitely order another one as o said I was gutted that I had to send it back.
Battery life is great. I don’t use it for app notifications, but have regular heart rate and other measurements running frequently and it still lasts 10-14 days. I chose this to see if I’d get on with a wearable before committing to an Apple Watch, but I think I’ll be sticking with this. GPS can be a bit slow to sync when starting activities, but that’s mostly my impatience for not starting it tracking before I head out.
Mostly used to track bike rides and as a daily watch. Would recommend.
I must admit I have been VERY pleasantly surprised at how well made this thing is.The app and interface are very good,it links to Strava but not other dieting apps.
Downsides are when swimming it seemingly rounds up to the nearest 50 metress i.e. if you have fine 725 metres (which it counts perfectly),but it will round off to 700 metres when you finish (that can be annoying). Treadmill counter is not accurate..i.e. it missed of a whole 800 metres on what the Treatmill said.
With these downsides, the sleep monitor is pretty amazing and the pedometer and with Multiple exercises…dare I say it,it may actually be better than my sh…I mean FitBit Ionic (I had 3 that just DIED).Good option for 56.
Surprisingly good watch for the price. After all updates Alexa works perfectly. You can turn on the lights, check the weather, set the timer, make reminder, ask when is the next reminder etc.
Now only to install Notify for Amazfit app to get some extra features and you have a decent smartwatch for 50 I’ve bought this as a temporary watch before Samsung and Google release their watch together in the fall but I’m honestly impressed!
I bought this for my husband and am fairly pleased with it. Watch looks good. Battery life is great – 10 days approximately between charging.
The accuracy is pretty good. The main problem is syncing with his iPhone – problems every time with this and we have to turn off and close the app, turn off Bluetooth, disconnect and then reconnect the watch. This generally works (not always) – nothing like as good as my Fitbit Blaze.
It’s a very good smart watch with inbuilt gps, I have used it for almost 1 month and it’s 95% accurate what I observed as compared to gps device/cellphone. One of the good things is that it can be integrated to strava.
Heart rate sensor and spO2 is fairly accurate and gives you a good idea about your vitals while doing work outs.
Overall a nice option if you don’t want to go for more expensive options like Garmin.
I’ve read many of the reviews on this watch and I would say take the negative ones with a pinch of salt. I personally think for the money this is a fantastic device, the gps tracker is easy to use either in the the watches own Zepp app or by linking it to Strava – no problems at all it’s dead easy to setup. I was super pleased with the Zepp app and the heart rate monitor also the sleep tracker is really good, I’m actually walking the dog faster just to keep the BPM up and going to bed early to get a better sleep score (think that’s just me tho – can’t say it will do the same for you!). The battery life is great, I find with every day use (tracking etc.) I’m currently around 5/6 days. Added to all this the customisation for the watch screen is a nice touch too. You will find that you get a red patch where it sits but if you are used to wearing a device all the time it will be fine (I normally just wore my normal watch daily) it’s calming after the first week.
Would really recommend, fantastic compared to some of the Other main brand ones that don’t have GPS for double the money.
The watch was very accurate in tracking my long walks.
However, after 2 weeks the GPS started to turn itself off whilst I was out walking.
I tried a factory reset and update on the Zepp app…I did this twice but the GPS still turned itself off during my walks.
I am genuinely gutted to send the watch back.
Very good, easy to wear, quite stylish, very useful for connection with phone.
Unfortunately I destroyed the instruction booklet (in washing machine) so can’t really set it up properly?
Absolute Bargain, a very basic smart watch but does all the basics very well and compatible with Strava using push notifications. So pretty much ticks all of the boxes for a general fitness user, rechargeble attery life lasts upto 10 days.
It a nice little watch, about 10 days battery life with constant receiving notifications. Excersive and steps count very accurate. Very happy with it. Will definitely recommend to others.
Bought for my daughter. Really good value for money. Good app (zepp). Only issue is the lack of auto detect on exercise other than walking. So you need to tell it what you are doing before you start. The Alexa functionality doesn’t seem to be activated yet although maybe that’s because it’s registered to a 13 year old? I guessed maybe it’s a privacy consent issue? If anything knows if be grateful.
This has completely exceeded my expectations and has led me to tentatively conclude that it is very close to a Fitbit Charge 4 but for less than half the cost. Despite having been physically active most of my life and taking part in competitive sports for several years, this is the first smartwatch or fitness tracker I’ve bought. I was interested in the Fitbit Charge 4 but didn’t want to pay 130 for my first venture into this world. So I did some research and found largely positive reviews for what on paper is a direct clone of the Charge 4, right down to the GPS feature that makes it possible to track cycle rides without having to use a phone – the Amazfit Bip U Pro. I’d never heard of Amazfit before and felt I was taking a slight risk, but the price (I paid 48.30) was so good I thought it was worth a punt. Initially I was unconvinced and thinking I might return it and buy a Charge 4, but after a day of putting it through its paces, I’m really impressed and very likely will keep it.
Focusing on the negatives first:
1. The heart rate measurement, as noted in various reviews, is sometimes a little inaccurate. Sometimes it underestimates counts by between 5-10 bpm, and sometimes (but not all the time) it struggles to deal with changes of pace. That’s not really a problem for continuous exercise, like running or cycling, but for High Intensity Interval Training it can be problematic when the exercise segments are quite short (e.g. 30 or 40 seconds) and you want accurate, realtime heart rate data during those moments. But then as I understand it the Charge 4 also struggles a little relative to a chest strap heart rate monitor and it feels accurate enough, so it’s not really a deal-breaker for me.
2. The manual could be a lot better. Most of the time the app is intuitive enough to use it without a manual, but for total newbies like me some guidance here and there would be useful. Thankfully I was able to find what I needed on various forums using Google.
3. Delivery is currently from Amazon EU and given our glorious new status as a ‘third country’ with delights such as rules of origin checks for importers to comply with, it took even the best-resourced company on the planet, Amazon, nine days to get the unit from Barcelona to the UK. Given that most Amazon deliveries are next day on Prime it was intensely frustrating to have to wait nine days – lucky that the Bip U Pro is good at what it does and was worth the wait. Despite the resources available to Amazon I doubt these delivery times will improve significantly, so be prepared to wait longer than you would normally.
And the positives:
1. The app is excellent. As someone who didn’t know Amazfit before, it was great to see that the app that the device uses, Zepp, is on the Google Play store and has been downloaded millions of times with a deserved score of 4.2. There is loads of information available on it, it syncs with the device quickly and works very well generally. The fact that it asks only for the birth month and year (and not day) of users is a nice touch, asking only for the information it needs to calculate health metrics and nothing that could pose a security risk (as birthdays are often used for security clearance questions) to customers if that data was lost/stolen.
2. The GPS feature works flawlessly, finding one’s location in less than a second.
3. The battery life is astonishing. A friend of mine has a new Fitbit Charge 4 and is only able to get 3 hours of battery life when the GPS feature is enabled. By contrast I did a 1.5 hour cycle ride today with the GPS enabled and afterwards it still had 94% of the battery left!
4. The touchscreen is responsive, and the multiple screens that can be swiped left or right for extra information are really useful.
5. The quality of the unit is decent enough, and certainly better than some reviewers here have suggested. The strap is silicone, the main unit durable and the fit is snug on the wrist is and comfortable.
6. The sleep monitoring feature is pretty cool, and seemingly quite accurate in terms of when one falls asleep and wakes up. Even if it’s not as good as a Charge 4 here, it still motivates me to want to get enough sleep etc.
7. The PAI feature, which is designed to encourage you to push yourself into higher heart rate zones rather than plodding your way to 10,000 steps, is excellent, as is the way that it automatically gets harder the more you hit the PAI targets.
8. It syncs to Strava pretty well. I did need to Google how to do it, but it’s straightforward really – just be aware that you may still have to go into the app to nudge it to upload your data if it hasn’t done so automatically.
It has various other Charge 4-like features too, like being able to take notifications from your phone on the watch, and effectively act as a remote control for music on your phone, but these don’t interest me so I haven’t used them.
Overall, incredible value for money. It definitely encourages me to exercise, cleverly turning exercise into a goal-orientated challenge to be conquered rather than a chore to be endured (and possibly avoided). I’m so glad I bought it!
I’m really happy with this, you really can’t go wrong at the price. Initially had trouble getting IOS text messages to display…to make that work you need to go to the “profile” tab in the Zepp app, then tap on “Amazfit Bip U Pro” under My Devices. You’ll see a “notification and reminder” header, if you tap that you can then turn on “Incoming SMS”. This is a different place altogether from the “App Alerts” under the “Enjoy” tag. Hope that makes sense!
Great watch so far, battery life is good and the tracking is excellent on my workouts and accurate too. A great purchase if your new to smart watches like I am!
Really good one. Amazon provided best price for now. Aliexpress with new TAX was 63 And more than 14 days for delivery. Amazon 59, with next day delivery. Great. Thanks.
Bought this as my first dip into smart watches.
So ‘WELCOME TO THE 21ST CENTURY BUCK ROGERS’

I ordered this for my husband at Christmas. He is very happy with it.
I have bought all the top make watches . In all honesty this is best watch have purchased. Easy to set up battery life 40 / 45 days
My wife loves the look of the watch and uses it for steps and exercise monitoring which it does very well.
If you don’t need all the functions and what a long battery life look at the bip u and bip u lite.
his product is okay for the price, battery lasts about 6 to 7 days. the screen is smaller than I expected but for the price its OK.
Does everything i wanted, lightweight with a perfect screen size for my wris
Great watch with good battery life, only gripe was I had a reaction with the strap.
Not the most precise GPS tracking. But for that money it is good enogh
The watch worked well and did what I expected for the price. Although the watch band caused quite a bit of skin irritation so not able to ware anymore
Both my partner and son have these watches really good value for money
Great watch for the price and same accuracy when out running compared to the Nike running app, worth the money
Perfect gift, reasonable price, prompt delivery. Great performance so far (mobile app & battery life).
I would give this watch a star but there are no instructions and it took a while to work out which app was appropriate. . Having sorted it out I’m really pleased with the functions and style. The GPS is very quick to get a fix. It’s a compact size but the screen definition is very clear. Would definitely recommend it.
I like the feature it gives and battery life but the accuracy is not perfect and most the time it says failed to measure
Good watch . It’s just do things how I like. Battery life is good and sleep monitoring is also good.
The mobile app needs few improvement though .
Excellent value, easily syncs with other apps like Strava. Amazing value for money.
his is what my skin did after a day beware
Early days but so far so good! Bought as a gift and my husband is really pleased with it and all the functionality for the money!
I use my watch to check my steps, workout and GPS. I think it’s the best.
The amount of sports available for selection is fantastic. The amount of things you can do with the watch is great too considering the price.
Fantastic budget smartwatch. I’d definitely recommend buying.
Good price, seems pretty arucrate for O2, pulse, and step counting.
Upgraded from Bip S just for better and larger screen. Has a couple more functions also.
Great. Thanks.
