Quick install CCTV
Bought to protect the outside of the house after a few thefts in my area. The cameras are very easy to set up once the smart hub is installed and have good features. The smart hub I got needs to be connected to the internet by cable.
The picture quality is great and the option to have a spotlight come on at night instead of night vision is a good. It has 2 way talk and the option to manually set a siren off if you see something you don’t like.
Most of the other features such as parcel detection and smart notifications only work if you subscribe to a security package. The smart hub has the option to have local storage but this can only be accessed by the main account holder. I have my cameras connected via the outdoor charger due to living in a high traffic area so I couldn’t comment on battery life
Great produc
Fantastic product, easy to install up, connect to hub, good quality – even the sound. Although I have benefited from a discounted purchase price the system plus the separate features were still expensive.
One of the issue is battery life especially if camera monitors a busy area. For the one that is installed in front of our house we bought a charging cable that is connected permanently so we can can plug it in the socket when low battery or gone on a holiday. We thought it was better than to get the camera off or use a ladder to connect the cable charger. We leave our external light on during night time for a decent vision. Probably a Floodlight Arlo Camera would provide a better vision especially if no external light.
However looks better than other wired CCTV systems and some of other Arlo cameras’ battery last longer.
We have installed another camera near one of our house window so when low battery we open it up and get the charging cable through that can be easily be connected to the camera. It doesn’t take long to get it fully charged.
Amazing camera set up
So easy to install and set up . Great visibility . Night vision plus led spot . Motion sensor and recognise packages too . Can even set up geofence on your phone to silence notifications when your at home
When I got these cameras, I was sceptical about the Wifi coverage. In my experience Wifi coverage is way overstated on all products and when there are walls it’s just must worse. So as the base unit was going to be some reasonable distance from the cameras 20m and I have a thick brick wall in the way, was expecting to need a wifi extender to get reliable coverage. So far, I have been wrong ! The connections on two cameras just worked and have worked now for over a week (when they were fitted) flawlessly.
Night quality is nowhere near day quality, but it still does the job. Software setup was simple. Only issue I have is I am surprised about an external hard disc ? When I saw the base module (which weighs nothing and looks the size of a 5.25 hard drive), I thought OK, buy drive from Amazon and fit it in there. Not so, hard drive has to be external and connected by USB. This make the footprint of the base module, so much uglier and I just don’t understand why ?
I also have no idea so far of what’s stored on the web and what’s stored on the hard drive ?
Great camera
I have always been a fan of Arlo products, especially because they’re so easy to use. I’m not a tech person, and the setup on these cameras was really straightforward. They work great and are very reliable.
I have been looking for a good outdoor security camera for a while now, and I have tried quite a few of them. Some were too expensive, some didn’t have the features that I needed, and some just didn’t work very well. But this one is perfect! I am getting 3 cameras which I have installed all around my house entrances.
It’s easy to set up and connect to your WiFi network, so you can get started immediately. You’ll need to download the app on your phone or tablet, but it only takes a few minutes to do so. You can also add other cameras if you want more coverage or different angles of view.
The picture quality is amazing- you can see everything clearly from any angle! And with 2x zoom capability, you can see even more detail than ever before. It even lets you see in color at night (with an integrated spotlight). The built-in siren will scare away intruders before they even realize what’s happening – it’s loud enough to wake up anyone in your house! Also I get to have two-way communication with the person through my mobile.
If you’re looking for an outdoor security camera that does everything it says it will do, then look no further than Arlo Pro4 XL.
Very impressive home security camera
I am so impressed by this security camera, I really want to ensure I do it justice so may continue to update this review as I go.
The box was quite small and inconspicuous, everything was packaged really well.
The camera comes with thorough installation instructions, drill some holes and the camera clicks in and that’s it with the physical bit.. just ensure you charge fully before putting in place.
Next you’ll need to download the app and sync the camera with your wifi/phone. You’ll need to create an account at this point, this is where you can upgrade to subscription if you want to but its definitely not needed. I’ll add the pricing options in my video. You get 3 months subscription free.
Once you’ve done the above you can set the area you want to activate the camera and notifications for. I live in a London terrace where the door is directly on the street with a primary school at the end so as you can imagine being able to set a boundary is invaluable! To be honest it was these reasons what had put me off getting a camera before I found Arlo.
The notifications are good too, how it differentiates between a person, animal, motion, package and even when package has been taken away… its so clever!!
The notification is instant and I can speak clearly to the caller or delivery driver if I’m not able to get to the door and they can speak back.
There’s also a siren option to deter possible intruders or unwanted visitors!
The footage is clear in both day and night, can be saved and/or downloaded as needed.
Night vision, quality made
The Arlo Pro 4XL wireless outdoor camera came securely packed in a nice cardboard box. When I opened the box, it contained 3 Arlo cameras, 3 rechargeable batteries, an instruction manual, a magnetic charging cable, wall mounts, and screws also.
First of all, I unpacked all the items. Then I downloaded the Arlo app on my mobile. Installing these cameras was a simple and smooth process. Setup was one of the easiest that I have done. I’ve installed them all around the house so that I can keep an eye on my surroundings 24/7.
Since the cameras work via my home wi-fi, I placed them around the areas where my signal was strong.
I love the quality of the cameras. They look sturdy and have a modern plus sleek design. They are waterproof and can withstand all harsh weather conditions.
The video quality is outstanding, the best that I have ever seen. I receive instant notifications and a live feed on my mobile. Furthermore, the cameras have a 12x zoom option. The AI system works exceptionally well.
They also display a video with a 160-degree wide angle.
I love the two-way talk option. the speaker and mic both are good. The motion detection is decent and responsive.
Moreover, the cameras have a spotlight and colored night vision. Comes with a siren too. when I turn on the siren, the unwanted company is sent off quickly.
Additionally, the battery life of the cameras is exceptional. After using the cameras for a week, it just dropped 5%.
Work well with Alexa and Google Assistant.
The cameras come with 3 month’s free trial but after that, I will have to buy additional usage by paying a subscription fee. A bit of a letdown with this price. Can’t do much without a subscription plan, but if can download app then can watch in app.
Hight quality security camera
I have also another box with three cameras because i do really like this brand for quality and services, in fact the quality of this camera is really good in any light condition. Obviously in the night you will lose some quality, but still, is good. There is no need of technicIan to install it, just open the box, attach it where you will need it, connect it to the app and are ready to go.
But, in camera price, it is included only 90 days free trial for the premium service, which after will ask you to pay, or of course, cancel it.
But if you would like to the most of it, then you might need to consider to pay this monthly subscription.
So far this camera are working really well, the body is small and compact, also nice design. I will consider to pay the monthly subscription when the trial will end.
Very fast simple set up great quality
I have found after around 3 weeks use that this is a very good system I am a little spoilt as I also have some 4k cameras also from Arlo that do have the edge on these but these are also very good. The setup is such a breeze and you can simply do it yourself from opening the box downloading the app and (as long as you have a drill and know how to use it) you can have these 3 cameras installed and working on your phone inside an hour easy.
The last wired system I used I had to get someone to install them with wires running through the loft wired internet also installed in the loft! As you can imagine it wasn’t cheap.
I’ve had zero connection issues with these cameras so the wired side of things doesn’t worry me.
The battery life claims 12 months I can’t comment on that due to only owning this for just over 3 weeks. But they simply charge via a magnetic usb lead I’m not too concerned as I can very easily access them to recharge.
I am very impressed with the night vision the little led light really packs a punch for its size.
The alarm built into the camera isn’t overly impressive but would definitely scare off a thief!
I have swapped over from ring and will soon be also changing the door bell to fully swap over to this company!
The app is a breeze to use I find it very simple. Overall very impressed it looks very modern and sleek easy to use and high quality you can’t ask for more!

Perfect solutio
We use it for security in a large church out of hours and for licensed events – it is very discrete, easy to install and use – and very affordable. As the walls are so thick we needed three sets, but they all work well. highly recommend, and the merchant offered outstanding service as well.
Pricey but well-built security camera
This security camera Arlo Pro 4 has a ton of useful features in a compact design.
The features of the camera include 2K HDR video that is sharp and clear, just like its predecessor. It has a 160-degree field of view that eliminates blind spots and night vision monitoring that keeps the property secure even at night. The Pro 4 also offers direct Wi-Fi connectivity so that I can connect cameras without the need for a Smart Hub base station all you have to do is sign into your current Wi-Fi network to connect to the Arlo Smart app. It is that simple.
After using the Arlo security camera outdoors for a few weeks, I like it even though I encountered some inconveniences. I’ll start with the camera itself–I tried checking the camera’s interior after using it outdoors to see if there were any signs of water intrusion, but when I opened it, it still looked brand new, with no signs of bugs or water intrusion, which impressed me and made it seem sturdy. The camera works well, as it produces high-quality videos, and I like that it has motion detection that is sensitive enough to pick up silly things in my backyard. The only issue I had was that occasionally during the colder days, the camera would shut off and the screen would go black. There was also a time when the camera disconnected itself for no apparent reason, and I had to manually reconnect it. This was a little stressful, but I haven’t had any issues since then.
All in all, this Arlo security camera is a bit expensive, but it is well-built and really made of quality materials, though I still think that this camera still needs some improvement in its features.
Superb cameras at a (huge) price
The picture quality you get from these is just fantastic. If money’s no object then go for it, they’re amazing.
However you do pay an awful lot for them, both to buy in the first place and for the subscription to get the best out of them. You can just about use them without a subscription (it’s pretty much live viewing only, no local recording unless you also have a smart hub, which is not included), but that would be a real shame because you’d be missing out on some really cool and useful features. So I think it’s only worth buying these if you’re definitely happy to keep paying for the subscription services.
I haven’t had this one installed long enough to need to recharge it yet, but it’s certainly been holding its charge well despite all the playing around I’ve been doing with my new toy.
The wide viewing angle is great as it means you can cover a large area with one camera. It does mean that things look smaller in the main image but of course you can zoom in to see more detail and the 2K resolution means there’s enough data to support a bit of zooming without losing too much image quality.
I think the lack of a base station comes with both advantages and disadvantages. The advantage is that you don’t have to find somewhere for yet another device to live since the cameras can connect directly to your WiFi network. The downsides are that you lose the ability to record video locally (the micro SD slot is in the base station) and you have to be sure you get a strong WiFi sgnal at the install location, which isn’t necessarily a given since your router is probably indoors and your camera will likely be going outdoors, so there will probably be at least one outside wall between them. However in my case the signal is good enough and it works fine. In fact it seems to get a slightly stronger signal in that location than another camera I tried in the same place.
The spotlight’s bright enough to get a good look at something within a few metres of the camera in colour. In fact it’s impressively bright for such a tiny light but of course it has its limit so it might struggle with larger areas. However the infrared night vision is crystal clear without it.
