Okay, so I have been trying to find a cup that works for me properly for a while, my last one has been leaking a bit when I use it, so I have been trying to find one that works with my apparently odd shape. I have bought several cups lately, which is pretty expensive, but I prefer them over tampons and so was willing to invest till I found the right one.
Despite being softer than my last one, with a softer rim that didn’t pop open, this one is perfect for me. I have to twist it a little to get it to open, but it sits in the right place and so far, despite being a very heavy bleeder, no leaks! I bought the size 1, despite having a heavy flow, because the 2s and b’s and whatnot are just too large for me, and this is what causes the leaks, they don’t sit right. I have always had to empty my cups or change my tampons after about an hour on my heaviest flow, but this cup lets me sleep over night, though on my heaviest if I wake up in the middle of the night I will go empty it out because the bugger will be full, but I haven’t woken up in a pool of my own blood in a few months now since I bought this, and that’s nice.
So, here’s my advice.. it’s gonna be expensive.. but buy different brands, different sizes and try them out till you find the one that just.. works for you. It’s worth the hassle, for your health the planet and your comfort. Hell, even the pain levels have been less since I started using this one, so winning all around

I never thought it would be so easy to use the cup. In my opinion, more comfortable than tampons, and finally I don’t have to be up in the middle of the night to change myself. I do recommend this menstrual cup

Used it for a year and I do think it is investment worth a while. I have definitely spent less money on tampons and pads. It takes a time to get it in, but when it is in with heavy flow it does last me half day without going to the loo, sometimes longer if needed. It is truly a great substitute for tampons. Never felt so freeing to do anything on my period.

I’ve cut off the top bit as it was not as comfortable, but I curried on using it and taking it out was not any different for me.

Hot pink definitely helped to look at it while cleaning it, but I have found out after a year using it blood will stain it, unfortunately. I’ve cleaned it all the time with special soup, but it got stained by use. It is natural and not a product fault, but I found that interesting.

It’s my first cup so was a bit weird at first but after a few attempts it stayed put and worked great for the whole week I needed it.
Very soft so probably best for pre-birth, non-physically active users.

I was a little apprehensive about using one of these but I’m so pleased I did! No leaks even throughout the night. It does say you can leave it in for 12 hours but for me I think after 7 hours it needed some attention. I would highly recommend getting one. Even though I’ve had a baby, i went for the number 1 cup and it’s fine.

I LOVE my cup!! I’m so happy I got it, and I will never be without a menstrual cup again. It took a little bit of practice to place it the first few times, but no more than 10 minutes. It has saved me money, hassle, and room in bags when traveling. My fiance prefers to still use tampons, and I don’t envy her constant worry about having enough supplies.

Great product. Easy to use and clean. I have a heavy cycle but i don’t need to empty and clean for at least 8 hours. Once inserted can not feel its there unlike tampons which always gave me a heavy unpleasent feeling. No need to wear underwear in bed which is great and i don’t need to worry about having a supply of products so less storage space taken up too. Better for the environment and for my purse. Win win.

This is a wonderful product and I’m sorry I haven’t tried it before. Once I got the hang of using it correctly it was completely leak free, even during sports, and I have fairly heavy periods. Period tax, period poverty and waste from sanitary products are all overcome in one go. I would urge any woman to try this.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersIt took me until my third period to get accustomed to using the cup and now I definitely won’t be going back to using tampons but it took perseverance and practice.

Initially I really struggled to get the cup back out, which was a bit nerve wracking at times. It almost needs a slightly longer stem. Now that I don’t insert the cup as far and use a technique that works for me (fold in half, insert, twist & release), I have fewer problems getting it back out. I find I cannot usually get it out when seated on the toilet but I’m much more successful in a squat position.
Sorry for all the detail but hopefully this helps someone!

Was v sceptical about this but have to admit, despite my reservations, that I love it. Not only does it stop a load of unnecessary waste but it is clean (my biggest fear was leakage – but there was none), discreet and comfortable. If you’re flow is heavy you will probably need to larger size but as mine is medium this was fine for me. definitely recommend!

It’s very soft so you don’t get that pressure against your bladder like you do with rigid cups. I found the seal was pretty good, when it leaks it is because of MY technique. Definitely would recommend as it’s easy to put in and take out.

This product is feminine, discrete, comfortable and ultimately works!
I will admit it is hard to get used to, the first month there was the occasional mishap (dropping it down the toilet, the ocassional leakage or discomfort) but I recommend perservering and don’t panic, stressing about the above issues definitely didnt help! By the second time I used it though I had worked out how to overcome the above and it was a much less stressful experience, I am hoping next time it will seem like I have always used this. I have no intention of going back to traditional disposable products, and now look forward to reeping the financial benefits as well as knowing I am doing my bit for the environment!

This is the second Athena cup I order, only because in between moves I can’t find my old one.

In terms of cups this one is by far my most favourite one, unlike the Moon Cup, which I found incredibly hard and with a very sharp bottom that use to cause me so much pain, the Athena cup offers the same benefits as most cups but it is also so very soft and the stem is rounded and comfortable.

Amazing!!!! I love using a cup now and would never go back to using tampons. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I brought the transparent cup which quickly became discoloured even though I clean it very regularly.

The cup not only improves your period pains but it gives you less things to be stressed about. It also feels really great to be saving the environment by not using tampons!

I had used my old cup for eight years and although I was happy with it, I was always aware of being able to feel it. I had no idea the new ones were so soft and comfortable. The Athena cup has been reliable, easy to change and clean and super comfortable. Very happy!

Having seen a few adverts for this type of thing, I didn’t think I was ready to give one a go. When my sister seemed surprised that I wasn’t using one I thought I’d give it a try (I do want to do what I can for the environment too). I was pleasantly surprised, and now can’t imagine using anything else.

I bought this as I’m disgusted with the amount of plastic and other waste that goes to landfill, especially when it can be prevented! Menstrual products lead to so much waste and expense that I figure I have nothing to lose by trying this out! To begin with I was super disappointed at how uncomfortable this was. The stem was constantly poking me, even though it was inside like it should be, I would feel it rubbing as I walked or sat. However I still had no leaking! AFter reading up online, during my second month using it I decided to trim the stem completely, so the smallest bit remained and am I glad I did! I could no longer feel it as I wore it and I had complete protection! It’s a little more difficult to take out without the stem but nothing too hard. I’m so glad I’ve bought it!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI have real trouble with my period, sometimes it’s very heavy, sometimes very light, and I had trouble judging which tampons to use without being uncomfortably dry or leaking. With the cup that’s not a worry at all. I had a bit of trouble the first 2 days finding out how to place it so that it is comfortable and leak free. But following that adjustment I think it is great. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get it out, and especially if I’ve used it overnight it does seem higher than during the day, but it’s no bother at all so long as you are comfortable with your body and relaxed. Once in it is like a tampon, you can’t really feel it…with the added bonus of ml markers meaning you can monitor your flow. That along with the savings to my finances and the environment makes it very worthwhile.

I was sceptic at first in buying this product. But after reading the reviews and having my question answered by those lovely ladies who use it, I bought one!! And I’m so glad I did!!! At first couple uses I did leak but once I got the hang of it, boom!! 12 hours later I’m emptying the cup, no leakage, comfortable, couldn’t feel it and most of all, my cramps had gone!!! And I feel like dying when my period comes on, the cramps are awful. But I must say the Cup got rid of my pains. I’m really happy I got this, binned my tampons no more spending money on tampons and pads. I LOVE MY ATHENA CUP!!

Very happy with my athena cup think I could do with the smaller size but will never go back to disposable sanitary products. I suffer with very heavy bleeding after awful period pain with my cup the pain is not as bad as with tampons and it’s so much cleaner and I can feel confident I will not leak the first time I used it is was sceptical as I have never gone a night without leaking so wore a sanitary towl over night but was 100% leak free even though I was bleeding extremely heavily

This is great. I can mostly forget I’m even having a period! Takes a bit of getting used to the technique for putting it in right. If it’s not right you can get some leaking, but normally there is nothing. Would never go back to tampons now.
I did buy the smaller one even though I’ve had children, as a different brand I had before didn’t work well for me due to the end part kept sticking out. If this one was any bigger i think it would do the same thing.

Ordered it at 10am arrived at 6 same day!

Honestly.. it was a bit scary at first, like how deep it actually go in.. but after being brave.. and to take it out.. you do have a give a decent push to get a good hold of it again but it works SO WELL and I wish I had bought one sooner..

Seriously buy it.. give it a go.. could be a serious life changer.. can’t even feel it’s there.

    So pleased!

Any woman considering a menstrual cup I would definately reccomend. This is the only one I’ve ever tried. Used it the first time – expected it to be difficult to get in or to get used to but had no issues at all. It’s so comfortable unlike a tampon you can’t feel it at all. You can leave it in 12 hours and over night. I consciously have to remember it’s there because you wouldn’t know.

  32. De'Angelo Epps says:

My first impressions were….this this is huge, it can’t fit-but don’t let first impressions fool you. I am far more comfortable and yes it’s a little messier sorting out than a tampon but the ease of wearing this far out weighs anything else.

My very first time with a menstrual cup ever unfortunately happened whilst I was touring around Europe in a van, so needless to say, I was freaking out at the beginning, but I knew that it could be only better than using tampons and having to change them every 3-4 hours, what was impossible. After the first day’s shock, i got the hang of it, it was easy to use, a bit messy to empty, but easy to clean with paper tissues, and unnoticable whilst inserted. The only thing to consider is that if you have heavy bleeding, you’d better go for the bigger size. I ordered the small, ben unsure how to choose, (althogh i’ve always suspected that my periods probably could be counted as heavy, i wasn’t sure) so I went with the recommendation, as I haven’t given birth yet, but one morning – 6-7 hours after changing – i woke up with the inevitable, it got full incredibly quickly. (I’ve been using liners all the time for extra protection.) So just go for the bigger size if you are unsure! Otherwise, I fully recommend it!

I have only used this for one period after my Diva cup stem broke. I used my Diva cup for four years and loved it. My complaint about this Athena cup is that it’s a bit more flimsy so I feel that it is harder for it to pop into its shape once it’s inserted. It’ll do for now and having experience with a cup makes it easier but I find there’s more leakage and it’s more important to get it into the correct position. When using the Diva cup I was able to throw it up there and it pretty much always worked out. I would recommend spending the few extra pounds to get something that works better since you’ll probably have it for awhile.

I am so happy with this cup – on my 4th or 5th cycle with it now and would recommend this highly to anyone considering it. I was sceptical at first but right away found it comfy to use. I can now work, sleep, swim comfortably without the hassle of changing tampons in the day. It saves me time, money and plastic waste.

The only negative is that even this early on the pink latex is slightly stained a dark red. Despite cleaning in warming soapy water as instructed. It’s only cosmetic so doesn’t affect performance.

Was a bit skeptical. I went for the first size was a bit unsure what would be the right one. Bit odd at first but got used to it very quickly. Never leaked once. I changed it every 5/6 hours during the day and longest i had it in was for about 10 hours over night. Would highly recommend.

I am a menstrual cup convert! Started out with a mooncup which has worked well for me but found it a little rigid. The Athena cup is very soft and smooth and easy to insert, although is a little harder for it to pop out! Took me a few goes to get in correct position. I always cut the whole stalk off as find it more comfortable. Once Athena was in, totally forgot it was there. No leaks. No need to worry about tampons or sanitary towels and feeling icky in your pants. Life-changing.

Well what can I say – I am in my mid 40s and have only just discovered menstral cups and cannot understand why everyone isn’t using them – they are so much more convenient than tampons – you can leave them in all day – you don’t have to carry around a bag full of supplies and it’s so much better for the . I particularly chose Athena because they are already coloured so won’t discolour, the reviews were good and they didn’t look too bulky or too hard. I initially bought the larger size as although I haven’t had children I do get heavy periods but I thought I would also get the smaller one to try out and it works just fine so this is the one I have stuck with. It does take a bit of practice to get it to sit in the right position and pop open but once it’s in right you don’t even notice it! It’s a revelation and I would encourage everyone to give them a try . Service and delivery have been 5 star too!

Golden Review Award: 16 From Our UsersI am still getting used to the idea and the whole process, as i was quite negative and sceptical in the beginning.. When i managed to use it right, it gave me so much peace of mind and sense of cleanliness. And i was unlucky enough for my difficult days of the month to coincide with a quite intense and rigorous Yoga teacher training, but it stayed in place and all was good. I bought the small cup, in clear. It is easy to fold, quite soft and looks/feels like really good quality. Once i put it in, i could not feel a thing, as if nothing was there. I was a bit concerned about the stem, during bicycle riding, but apart from the fact that if placed correctly, the stem does not stick out, it is so soft that it does not create pressure or discomfort, when i sit on the saddle. I think it does take a while to get used to, especially regarding correct placement and with taking out (please be patient and take the time to relax, do not force pull out, it will hurt). I have only been able to place&remove while in the comfort of my own home and in the shower, i do not feel like i could ever do all this while anywhere outside, but it works for a good amount of hours, so you should be ok. I am happy to recommend this cup and i am sure it can make our lives so much easier. Thank you Athena team.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI had been thinking for a long time about investing in a menstrual cup. I had been getting increasingly fed up with tampons. I ended up taking the plunge and doing it and I am so glad I did. Yeah, it’s weird getting used to and you definitely won’t do it right on your first couple of goes but once you’ve got it, it’s amazing.

You don’t feel anything, there’s no leakage and the best part is you don’t get caught out! I would quite confidently wear this cup with dreaded white trousers.

Do be aware though, you will Google everything under the sun on removal methods, ‘help, I’ve lost the cup!’ And fold methods.

I highly recommend looking at all the fold methods and finding the best one for you. The one recommended in the booklet I couldn’t get on with. Not to nab Always’ tag line but this gives me a happy period!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY ATHENA CUP!!!

I bought size 1 , I’ve never given birth and have been told I am ‘small internally’ by a couple of nurses whilst having smear tests done, so thought that would be the best size to opt for.

NEVER have I found my period so comfortable and easy to deal with!! I’ve had almost 30 years of uncomfortable, leaky and drying tampons, sweaty and bulky pads, OTT expense, ruined underwear, ruined bed-sheets, and anything involving water (swimming, relaxing in a lovely hot bath,) being a complete ‘no-no’ for almost one week of each month. even normal showering was troublesome for me at times.
What a joy and relief finding this menstrual cup has been! It has completely changed the way I view ‘period time’ because I know that it will now be comfortable, un-hassled, inexpensive (actually, no extra costs at all), and easy to live with.
Now I admit, the first couple of times I inserted and removed the cup I thought it wasn’t going to be for me. However after a quick YouTube search for some extra hints and tips about different ways of folding, some easy removal advice and cutting some of the removal tip off the bottom to stop it rubbing, I am completely sold!! I LOVE IT!!!!

Once you have the insertion and removal techniques down, it is the most comfortable and hassle free way I have found to deal with menstruation.

I would suggest still wearing some kind of pad or panty-liner whilst getting used to using your cup and knowing how to check it is correctly inserted, just to be on the safe side. I did this and found I needn’t have bothered. It’s so easy if you follow the instructions and don’t get all weird about being very intimate with your own anatomy!!

I’ve used it for two periods now and I know I’ll never go back to anything else.

Easy to store, carry, clean (I use warm water and some very gentle, feminine hygiene soap), and change ( I find I only need to empty 3 times a day, first thing in the morning, mid afternoon and bedtime. Even on my heaviest days, which I would say are reasonably heavy considering the sizes of, and how many tampons and pads I would need each month. A big change from needing to be sure anywhere I went had easy access to a bathroom every couple of hours if I wanted to be completely sure of avoiding any leaks.

Thank-you Athena Cup for making period time so easy!! I wish I had taken the plunge and bought one of you sooner!!

I have nothing negative to say about the cup. Safe to say I will never ever change back to tampons! You don’t waste money, you don’t have to “change” as often and I’ve not had a single leak. Not only do I forget it’s there due to the comfortable fit, it also helps with period cramps – don’t ask me how. From someone who suffers from very intense and painful cramps all around (back, stomach, pelvis) I cannot believe how much it relieves me from the agony. Even the bag is lush!

Received this a few days ago and it’s changed my life already! I had been looking into these cups for a while now as I want to cut down on my waste and an easy way to do that is to cut out tampons. I practiced inserting it and taking it out again in the bath, and found a method that works for me. I panicked a little at first as I couldn’t removed it easily, but I soon found a method that worked for me and I had no further issues. I would definitely say it’s worth practicing and using a pad as back up, but once you get the hang of it it’s great.

I wish the tip was slightly longer as I had some difficulties pulling it out after using it while asleep (the horizontal position probably prevents gravity, and the cup gets sucked inside), but after a couple of days I found my technique.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWish I’d bought one years ago! Granted, it takes a little bit of practice, but that’s no issue. Once you’ve got the hang of it, you’ll never look back! Not only healthier for your body & better for the environment, but you’ll save a fortune each month too! Bye bye nasty tampons & towels, you shan’t be missed!

Golden Review Award: 31 From Our UsersThis is the first and only menstrual cup I’ve tried, so bear in mind that I have no idea how this compares to other brands. That said, I’ve found that this works really well for my particular body. (For reference, I have the smaller size. I’ve never given birth, and I’m on the pill so my periods aren’t super heavy.) I was a little worried about some of the negative reviews, but I figured if it didn’t work out I’d return it and spring for a Diva Cup or one of the other pricier options. So far, I haven’t felt compelled to.

The instructions it comes with are clear but brief. (The booklet has a lot of pages, but only the first few are in English.) I’d suggest looking online for a more thorough step-by-step–the instructions are pretty much the same for all the different brands of cups.

I ordered mine in the solid purple color, and it’s a darker purple in real life than what’s shown in the picture. Not a huge deal, but worth mentioning.

Because I’m on the pill, I can predict pretty accurately when my period will start, so I put the Athena Cup in for the first time the night before I expected to start bleeding. (I did research beforehand, and it’s totally safe to have it in when you’re not on your period.) That way, I didn’t have to deal with a bloody mess the first time I put it in (and it WILL take many tries and a bit of experimentation before you get it in there successfully).

There was definitely a bit of a learning curve at first, especially with removal, but I was able to figure it out after a few tries and then it was no big deal. It just takes practice and some getting used to. Again, definitely set aside at least 15-20 minutes the first time you try to put it in. As some other reviewers have suggested, it’s also a good idea to use a back-up liner at first. Once I figured it out, though, I had zero leaks. I can also hardly feel it at all once it’s in (it’s definitely less noticeable than a tampon), which is great.

I was initially concerned about the reviews saying that the Athena Cup is flimsy and doesn’t open up all the way once it’s in there. I will say that when I put mine in I don’t really feel the “pop” that you’re allegedly supposed to feel when it opens up. However, I’ve found that it DOES open as long as I insert it at the correct angle, and I’ve learned to recognize what it feels like when it’s fully open. (Your experience may vary depending on your own personal anatomy, of course, but it worked for me personally.) Again, I haven’t had any issues with leaking thus far, so I assume it’s working the way it’s supposed to.

Overall, I’m really happy with this product, and will definitely keep using it in place of pads or tampons in the future. I should also add that menstrual cups are NOT for everyone–they do feel pretty weird at first, you have to get pretty up close and personal with your insides, and they’re definitely harder to use than pads or tampons. I wouldn’t blame someone for not liking these just in terms of the concept. But as someone who is completely on board with the idea of menstrual cups, this one is great.

Works well, but a worry that this cup may cause enough suction to dislodge the coil. Have to carefully remove it with a squeeze at the very top edge, which is quite fiddly.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersPractice nurse told me about the menstrual cup, am 49 (with 2 grown up kids) and had never heard of it! Am sooooo impressed, looked on Amazon and the Athena cup seemed the most reliable product with better reviews. Really wish I’d heard of it years ago, not only is it better for your body as doesn’t contain all the toxins that tampons do, it also doesn’t leak like a tampon during a heavy flow. Well worth the price considering the cost of disposable sanitary products, can thoroughly recommend this product.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI don’t know about anyone else, but when the time of the month comes around, I dread the thought of all the tampon changing – and of course the extortionate price. Using a menstrual cup was not something I had really considered, but after being recommended by a friend, I thought there was no harm in giving it a go. I compared a view of the different brands, and I decided to go with the Athena cup, and in terms of my period, it’s the best thing I have ever done. The cup came very promptly, and as recommended I gave it a trial run before my time of the month, and I’m glad I did because you do have to work out what works best for you in terms of inserting and angles and stuff, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature. So when my time of the month came around, I felt prepared, and I can’t tell you how much it has changed my periods. It’s so comfortable, you cannot feel a thing, and it’s easy as anything to remove (and for anybody thinking it would be a messy experience, it’s far from it!), and you can leave it in for longer as you have no risk of toxic shock. It’s a one off payment, so you’re saving so much money that you would be spending monthly, and there’s no damage to the environment! They come in different sizes, and the silicone means that it moulds exactly to your vagina, cupping your cervix and ensuring no leaks! This product has changed my periods!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAbsolutely love It!
I should have tried one years ago.
After a few attempts testing it out for the fit and getting used to how and where it sits before my period, I found it so simple and easy to use. It works so well and I had no issues whilst working out (I pole dance for fitness) although I made sure it was emptied just before my classes. I also love that I’m doing my bit for the environment and saving cash now I don’t have to buy tampons or pads!

I ordered it before reading reviews and worried when loads of them said the positive reviews were bought or fake but since it’s arrived I’ve been really happy with it! I’ve had one or two issues with getting it in the right place but it’s really easy to put in now and I’ve only had it a few weeks. So much more comfortable than a tampon and I never need to worry about having to buy more, would highly recommend it to anyone 🙂

Ok. I was sceptical. Even, I’m ashamed to write, a bit grossed out. But I’m never wearing a towel or tampon again. Ever. It’s comfortable. Very easy to insert. Easy and comfortable to remove (takes practice). Hygienic. I run everyday and cycle. And this was fine. Only thing is I go to loo a bit more often – but I think this is to do with position and my getting used to something new.

Really pleased. I’m going to order another one – just in case.

It’s so comfortable most of the time can’t feel anything at all. Easy to insert and remove. No leaking, no need for any other sanitary products. Been out for long walks and swimming with it in no probs at all. On heavy days emptied every 5 hours ish. I have very heavy periods as flow slowed able to leave in for 10 hours.

Golden Review Award: 146 From Our UsersI am never going back to those degrading wads of cotton again! I am free from the shackles of the luxury item tax. These cup things, despite weirding some people out, are a life saver, when sanitary bins are no where to be found, or the day when you seriously underestimate the power of your menstrual flow and have naively only popped a regular size tampon up there on the day you decided to wear that cute new white skirt to work to try and catch the eye of fit Gregg, who you’re pretty sure is a butt guy and man does your butt look good in that new white skirt, much better than Stacey’s for sure… well that is… until… the Great Leak. Have no fear!! for these cups can hold much more than a tampon and so…. as long as they’re correctly inserted, are far superior to any other kind of menstrual control product (wings or no wings).
AND they last for so long, like 10 years long (save money).
AND they help the environment (no more tampons getting stuck up dolphin noses).
AND you can get fun colours (stylish, even match your underwear if that’s what you’re into).
AND no toxic shock syndrome (you never have to worry about losing a limb on the battlefield which is your period again!)

P.S. Okay sometimes it nocturnally migrates up towards your cervix for a closer look and some mornings you might, hypothetically of course, panic and think you’re never getting out and it’s stuck up there forever and you’ll never get a boyfriend again, but all you gotta do is wait for gravity to do it’s thing (maybe aided along by a few squats – always love a few squats) and it soon comes shimmying on down. Also it’s not like it can be in there for “too long” like a tampon so you’re good to live your life without The Fear!

Extremely impressed with this product. I was dubious about reliability and worried about leaks the first couple of uses, but I’m pleased to report it has been 100% successful. I do find it tricky to remove as the short tail is difficult to grip and slips away as I pull but it’s a very minor complaint in the scheme of things. Definitely won’t be going back to tampons. Highly recommended!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was so disappointed to have my period during my much awaited trip to the Caribbean.

However, using the cup meant i could confidently go to the beach and pool and wear swimsuits / bikinis. I returned to my room at lunch time to empty and rinse and carried on with my day without having to worry about leaking etc.
Also, there is no sanitary waste which meant I wasn’t concerned about the cleaner coming into our room daily.
I’m really glad I made the purchase. It’s made ‘that time of the month’ so much easier. I would definitely recommend investing in one.

Had a tough mudder to complete and knew that the dreaded time of the month would clash. With 4/5 hours of wet and mud soaked activity I knew tampons just wouldn’t cut it. No where clean to carry them and limited (porta) loos with no where to wash muddy hands, tampons just weren’t an option, leaks were inevitable. This however was a life saver!

The solid blue is a nice colour, it comes in a cute bag which is more discreet if carrying it in a handbag except the ribbon does say Athena cup on it. It’s firm so if you accidentally insert the cup up too far you can drag it down by the stem quite easily. It takes quite a few tries to get it up there but you just need to persevere and try different folds or positions etc. I would advise new users to use something to lubricate it. I haven’t yet used it on my period but it definitely was comfortable.

Inserting and removing requires a little practice, but once mastered you can forget all about it for up to 12 hours?! Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersI’m very happy with my new menstrual cup. Only would suggest for it not to be packed in plastic, as there’s absolute no need for it, specially considering that it already comes in the fabric bag and in a cardboard box (as shown in the picture). Plastic isn’t eco-friendly at all, so I would like the company to reconsider its use.
