I use this mixer for a variety of professional gigs, and have always found it to be reliable and very useful.
Especially, with built-in reverb etc. and +48V to power condenser mics etc – it’s perfect for smaller gigs or to use as a ‘sub’ mixer.
Sound quality is good (I also use bigger Mackie & Allen & Heath desks), and considering the price, this really is a steal! 🙂
This mixer is what I was looking for, however I see what people are saying about the power cable. How bad could it be I thought… well pretty bad. When you plug in the power, the mixer and cable basically can’t be moved or touched again as the input is SO finnicky, or the whole thing turns off. There is no power button on/off either. Not sure why they designed it that way with the pins. So long as you keep it in a stable situation (including not even touching the cable) it should be okay. I saw a review of a work around for this feature I might try.
Otherwise sounds good, I like the options for effects.
Great small board perfect for my acoustic band, amazing for the price!
What a great mixer for the price! Needed something to replace my aging and failing RadioShack mixer. It is a bit smaller than I expected, but it doesn’t take away from all the great features! Pots are slides are good and tight, with very smooth power increases. It includes all required inputs for your professional gear, XLR inputs as well as full low-mid-high pots for the first four channels.
This small compact unit has all the quialty of a larger unit and built in effects. Great value for the money for studio and gig use.
Works fine. We use it as a back up and for practices.
Awesome little mixer..perfect for doing announcements, karaoke, duos to 4 piece bands…pretty much any event that requires a small mixe
Very good unit, metal housing quiet clear sound output. Great FX options, used in my home Karaoke system.
I don’t use these for any type of recording or musical instrument control. I use it at home for Karaoke with friends! Let me tell you, it’s grrrreat! I plug in 3 microphones to it, plug the TV out (Apple TV over my TV ARC) to one of the inputs, then I send the output to my Yamaha RX-A780 input. Instant Karaoke, and it is amazing. Having this beats any “magic sing” or any other special Karaoke setup. We simply use YouTube queing and voila.
I only wish it had a power button so I didn’t have to keep unplugging after use. 🙂
Nice, reasonably effective board, but strangely there is no power button and we are left with no choice but to disconnect from power source. Very odd. Otherwise, it’s not bad for the money
it fits really well on my desk even with my keyboard, mouse, 2 monitors and a pc. It fits snug to the right of my main monitor and my pc. It does what it says although i had to order a 3.5mm to 2 6.35mm cable. Other than that its amazing i highly recommend.
Very good product. The only down side is that the A/C plug is a 3 pin i would perfer a regular A/C plug like most product. The 3pin some times gets lose. Might need to put duck tape to keep it from falling off. Thats the only down side. Berhringer1204usb is better out let. Which i also have. Never had I an issue.
I have used the Behringer 12 input mixer and have completely enjoyed the experience, of blending voice and instruments with effects!! The only reason I didn’t give a full 5 star rating, is because the unit does not have a on/off switch. You plug it in, and it is live. I prefer to have control at the source, in case of issues.
Worked like a charm took me personally a while to learn it all over again. Been a while since I had used a mixer. Power connecter is a little on the odd side to connect but once you get used it it’s fine.
TL;DR — This mixer has met and exceeded my expectations. It is solid, produces great sound, and is full of quality features.
———————————————————-
I ordered this to replace the Pyle PMXU63BT (which I returned due to its low quality and high noise). I am setting up a podcast and doing other recording using Audacity on a Linux laptop and needed to be able to bring audio into my recording from at least two mics as well as other sources. I initially ordered the Pyle mixer and was pleased with how well it made that task possible, but the end result of my recordings was unacceptable.
I returned it and ordered this in an effort to try again.
I unpacked the XENYX 1202FX, plugged it in, hooked it up to my mics and computer, and did a test recording. When I compared that recording to one I had just made with the Pyle, the difference was like night and day — the noise was gone, the audio is richer and fuller, and the overall quality was much better. I am very pleased with this board.
Check out the pics and video featuring a recording made with this mixer, the Neewer NW-700 microphone, and Audacity on my Linux laptop.
Here is what I like about this mixer:
* The four XLR jacks are powered by Phantom Power
* Below each XLR jack is an unpowered Line In jack for instruments or mics that don’t require power
* Each of the XLR/Line In jacks has controls for GAIN, EQ, LOW CUT (to eliminate too much bass coming in), FX (more about FX later in this review), PAN (more about Pan later in this review), and LEVEL.
* All of the other jacks (5/6, 7/8, 9/10, 11/12) can be used as stereo or mono and have controls for FX, BALANCE, LEVEL and Input Sensitivity.
* The RCA In and Out make it easy to connect peripherals such as a CD or Tape player/recorder. In my case, I used the RCA In to capture sound from my laptop so that I can listen to recordings in Audacity during my post-production editing.
* The build quality is better than I expected at this price. This board is really well-made and solid as a rock!
* The quality of the sound is superb. I have much less to do in post-production and the results are impressive.
Features I really like:
* PAN and BALANCE on all jacks:
This is one feature that was missing from the Pyle mixer that I returned.
This allows me to pan one XLR mic all the way to the right and another all the way to the left and then record in stereo on Audacity. After that, I can separate those tracks and edit each one independently. This way, I can have a guest on my podcast and do post-production editing of my voice without messing with his and vice versa.
BALANCE control of jacks 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, and 11/12 allows them to be treated as true stereo in the recording. It is even possible to treat each one (for example 5/6) as individual jacks and use entirely different sources with each of them.
* The MAIN OUT jacks are true stereo:
This means that whatever I pan or balance left or right is recorded that way.
This is also true for the CONTROL ROOM OUT jacks.
This is also true for the PHONES jack, meaning I can monitor what’s going on and adjust as needed.
* The EQ is excellent (though somewhat limited):
It has the “British” style three-band (High, Mid, Low) EQ knobs for all four XLR/Line In jacks (1,2,3,4).
The EQ is deep, wide, rich, and full — the adjustments are perfect for me.
* The FX are really good:
There are 100 of them (numbered 0-99) and they are fully adjustable.
Some people have complained that the manual does not include a list of these FX, and that is true. But a quick Internet search found a PDF of the list and it includes many FX that really make recordings sound more professional.
If you prefer to use an external FX processor, there is an FX SEND jack for that. The FX send also allows a simple “mix minus” setup.
The biggest complaint I find in other reviews I read here is that the mixer does not have a power button. While it is true that this means either that you will need to plug into a power strip or unplug the unit to turn it off (and plug ot back in to turn it back on), I don’t really see that as a big deal at all. Instead of it taking me one second to turn it on before I start, it takes 5 seconds.
The bottom line is that I am more pleased with this mixer than I thought I would be at this price. My expectations were reasonably high, but this mixer is amazing. It has all of the features I knew I needed and some I didn’t realize I would need. It works perfectly and produces professional, quality sound. I would recommend this to anyone who needs a simple, basic mixer with a few extra features.
Hi, it’s a great feature, I used it for mixing sound for guitars, microphones and drum. It’s so far a great tool for my gospel band. It’s right size and handy for carrying.
I bought this mixer a while ago with an amp (I won’t say what brand or from what distributor), but the amp was dead (the only power was the little light by the switch). Anyway, that amp was returned (no problems there) and a new one ordered. I just hooked up the new/second amp today with the mixer and everything works well together. This mixer is compact and doesn’t have a lot of channels, but it fits perfectly with my 1000 watt amp and the whole system produces more than enough crisp/clear volume in our small Church. All we use it for it voice and the occasional audio track – guitars have their own amps, etc – so this small compact system does a great job. It’s also not too complicated for an amateur to operate… when I’m away (the amateur), I do up some SOPs for my fill-in.
Great input sound and quite amazing for the price. The preamp power isn’t the best, but definitely not the worst. The only real complaint I have is that there’s no power button. The only way to turn it off is to unplug it. This is quite difficult due to the type of power connection on the back. It’s a multi-prong plug and very difficult to put into the back, so unplugging becomes a chore when you go to plug it back in. It also heats up from the power supply and cannot be left on indefinitely.
Bought this to mic my band and to use with in ear monitors. Really good small desk.
Sound is excellent, which is the most important thing for me. Very compact so great for a cramped home studio or for carrying. Really impressed with the EQ and built in effects. For all the features, this is fantastic value. This version doesn’t have mute or solo or EQ on the stereo channels. This happens to be fine for me. Not a minus because you can always go for the higher models in the range, just pointing it out in case you miss it in the pictures. Also, there are no aux sends on this version so I’m afraid your outboard effects will have to be in-line (cringe). Again, you can go for the higher models if this is an issue for you. To be honest, the built in effects are nore than sufficient. The transformer is very loud. You can hear it in another room. This little mixer packs a lot of punch.
Seems good. Tried it sounds good going to use for a podcast. Taking a star because was not packaged in a box. Just a shipping label on the regular packaging. Wasn’t happy to see on my porch for everyone to see exactly what I bought. That box fell apart as soon as I opened it as well. Definitely wouldn’t recommend if you’re worried about packages being stole
Good clear sound and I could compare this Mixer with the results of an older similar Behringer Mixer and the sound is clearer. This 4 star rating is a minimum rating. My limited use, so far, is very positive and I look forward to more extensive use in the near future. The “reverb” effect (FX to Main) is weak and I have tried a suggested move (unplug and re-plug the Mixer (power) while operating with minimum sound level with the FX to Main knob pressed down and this move has brought a bit more reverb. There are 99 pre-recorded FX to Main effects and the number selection related to the Reverb are numbers 80 to 90 that provide the best Reverb effects. My only negative comment is the lack of reverb signal from the 2 identical mixers I received after returning the first one I received thinking it was a defective one. This mixer does not provide an On-Off switch and gets activated whenever the laptop or computer gets turned on.
Excellent product. Well made very neat and compact. Full of features. Price was excellent and delivered very quickly. Well worth the money.
Got this for use at rehearsals running through Alto powered speakers and it does a fine job. We normally just use three mics through it but if the drummer cant be there we can easily input the percussion of the keyboards plus you’ve got the phono inputs should we need to clarify something of a track that we are trying to learn. The biggest downer with this unit is the lack of an on off switch (pennies, surely ) because if some one has turned on the powered speakers first and levels have not been pulled back you can get a very nasty pop. Otherwise well built and straight forward to use
Works really well, the only niggle I have is that the audio feed from tape isn’t controllable for volume so you can’t sensibly use it as an input, e.g. for background accompaniment or for interval music and the level seemed odd, however, minor as you can feed in via other inputs.
Basic ambience effects good enough for small performances, you wouldn’t try and run a group through this mixer, but if you wanted just to amp up the vocals and keyboard against guitar drum and bass back line this would do fine.
No significant noise or artifacts introduced, great for a home studio, and has worked well as a front end to an audio feed via a Behringer audio converter into Cubase.
I have three… they’re great little mixers and super portable, with 99 effects settings, I use them for vocals, keyboard and violin, mostly. The only down sides are the power supply isn’t just a universal cord, so if you forget yours, you cannot just swap it out for an amp cord, and the mixer itself gets very hot. I suggest getting a laptop cooling tray to accompany it. Other than that, it sounds better than my big boards, does a lot for the price, and it’s so portable!
Used for portable on-the-road popup broadcasts. The only criticism is in the design of the power adapter plug. It’s an awkward, outdated multi-pin design that can be damaged if you try to force it in the wrong way because you can’t easily figure out the top and bottom. Some masking tape and a sharpie pen can help with that, but in the 21st century you should’t need to wiggle and twist a cable just to figure out how to plug it in.
pros – sound is great. knobs and sliders are smooth. small footprint especially for 12 channels, you can easily throw in a bag with other gear. feels solid and durable.
cons – no EQ adjustment on the 4 stereo channels. EQ is only on the 4 single Mic/ lines. i would rather settle for 8 channels and EQ on all inputs. no power button, can only yank the plug out to turn off. gets really hot, there’s even a vent in the bottom because of this.
Does everything I need – I use in a five piece band and mic drums and electronic instruments then feed into main mixer – would be better with a on off switch but that is minor criticism- well pleased
Bought for a live gig, basic three piece band in a pub where just the vocals were going through the mixer.
Quite small/compact, very light. Straightforward to use – I got the option with fx which seems a no brainer since the prices for with and without were fairly similar. The fx gave a bit of additional substance to the otherwise ropey vox. There was also a handy input to play a laptop through the pa during the well earned interval. Since using it for live performance, it is now also used for home playing/recording/mixing etc – the small size means you can feasibly have this on a desk alongside your pc keyboard/laptop without much worry – it’s not much bigger than an A4 box file.
Perfectly reasonable for the price. Smaller and lighter than I expected, but that is actually a positive attribute all things considered.
For the price you cant go wrong, the effects was ok . I wished there was a list to tell you the effects to what number or l just did not get one.
I would like to see a on/off switch put in and the a/c plug does not fit properly to the board, its loose, make sure it’s connected .
Overall for the price it did the job.
Great bit of kit. Bought this to set up a home Karaoke for a friend and it works great.
Its a good product… has got a good equalizer with gain… Its just that I thought, it will have delay with high frequency like other behringer pedals.. Never the less.. product is awesome.. Also, I ordered it at 12.00 midnight and before I was awake in the morning, the delivery boy was at the door… Amazing delivery from Amazo
Very good mixer for people on a tight budget. Comes complete with a selection of inbuilt effects.
Great better than I thought and great value for money
Great value mixer, good selection of FX. Only drawback is no guide to 1-99 FX needed to download from Behringer site.
Great little mixer. Easy to set up and use. Effects are pretty good. I did not have any problem with heat as a few mentioned. Used for a three-hour gig with three inputs, not heat buildup on the back like some said. Also, not problem with the jack coming loose either but then again it is new. The lack of a dedicated on/off switch really doesn’t bother me either. The only thing I didn’t like was there was no ‘feet’ pads on the bottom. There are four raised plastic feet but on a had surface the mixer slid around. Fortunately I had some little rubber sticky pads I’d gotten with something else and saved that worked perfectly. For the price you just can’t beat this little mixer.
Haven’t fully learned and use the unit yet but the echo and fx is so nice.
This audio mixer by Beehinger is very sturdily built and will last a long time. For the price of this item you are getting a very sturdy piece of kit that not only looks good but sounds amazing too
An excellent little mixer for the money. Some very useful fx for vocals and acoustic guitar – I use it with two SM58 mics and a Collings D2H acoustic plugged into a LD Maui 5 PA system. Sounds great and perfect for small to medium gigs. Slightly annoying power connector with a proprietary DIN plug but not a huge issue. Quiet in operation and does the job well.
Excellent mixer – and the FX feature is useful. It seems to get very hot.
Fabulous little mixer, I used for gig this last week with my powered Mackie speakers. Sounded great, and the reverb is awesome.
They keep improving these mixers, I had one of these models before but decided it was time to upgrade.
Behringer makes some great gear.
Compact and excellent quality sound. Good effects. Very versatile console… but no XLR output.
I bought this for my acoustic shows. I wanted a smaller soundboard that still had some effects in it. I found this little guy and so far it’s really done the trick. Although I wish I had more control over how the effects sounded, the built-in effects presets are pretty nice. I also should have gone with the version that has built-in USB port but that’s on me for not looking into it more. All in all, this is a great starter board for a small band/acoustic show. There are not a ton of extras on here but enough to get by.
These are cheap and great little mixers. Nice to have simple to use effects built in. Perfect for quick/easy set up
Pluses: Works well, good sound quality, good feature set, good value for the money.
Minuses: No power switch, layout of controls and jacks is a bit confusing, the effects processing is confusing to use and hard to select, and you only get eight stereo inputs – to get twelve you have to use the separate left and right channels of the unbalanced inputs.
Summary: if you need an 8 to 12 channel mixer, this one works very well and is sold at an excellent price but has some flaws.
Very good unit works well I have had no problems with it. it does the job well
I bought another desk smaller than this and realised it wasn't up to the job.
After a good search of reviews I went for this one.
Very happy with it. It's got plenty of inputs and controls and is excellent build quality.
Well worth the money.
Gutes Gert, schneller Versand,sofort wiede
Pros: I’ve had Behringer mixers before, so this one is just a smaller version of what I’m used to. The knobs and sliders are well made for a product of this price. The effects work well and there are 100 to choose from.
Cons: As with most mixers you can get a hum if the power isn’t clean and isolated. This unit does not have a power switch on it, so if you want to turn it off you have to unplug it. I’m not sure what engineer thought that was a good idea. I bought an outlet switch for it.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005MYN3OO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_i53McSimPMD3U
None of the included manuals have the list of effects specified, nor does their website have a downloadable list. I had to contact tech support and they sent me a pdf. I’ve attached the list.
This board is ALMOST everything I was looking for. Upgrading my studio from our previous 4 input mixer using only 1/4″ input, this board offered the XLR ports we needed for better equipment so we were super excited. My ONLY issue with this board is that it doesn’t have an on/off switch. In order to power the unit down I have to physically unplug it, which I always feel bad doing.
I did have to elevate it a bit to give it some clearance between my desk and the bottom of the board, since that appears to be the only place that there is a vent, and it does get hot quickly if left flat on my desk.
Overall, this board works for everything I needed it for. I’m just a bit sad that it doesn’t have a power switch.
Got this to hook up my home karaoke system and the result is surprisingly great!
There are so many adjustable options and everyone can immediately hear the differences.
When I hooked up a $20 SM58 clone microphones and trying to sing, I feel that I were in some professional Karaoke house.
And my line-in vs 3.5mm cable has not arrived yet so I cannot include my TV output to it yet, but I have read the manual and I am pretty sure that will be no problem.
Comparing to the $100 so called pro-Karaoke mixer, this is a real deal though it looks a bit more complex but you can easily got the quality, the bass/treble, echo, reverb in a single box!
This is one of the few times that I feel that a product is well beyond expectation and worth any penny. One of the best purchase recently. I would consider buying another USB Behringer mixer for recording by computer.
Great – works well at a good price – very pleased
It’s ‘as expected’. It’s clean, clear and quiet and compact. It provides the facilities and functionality I require for a 4 piece rock band with enough microphone inputs, stereo inputs for backing tracks and or background music (such as from a PC/laptop/smart-phone). There is also a ‘control room’ output that could be used for foldback.
However, the built-in FX are rubbish! Not unexpected if I’m honest, as decent digital echo module would cost upward of 150, you’re not likely to get that ‘quality’ included within a mixer that cost less than 80.
If you’re looking for a small, inexpensive versatile mixer then I would recommend it BUT save yourself 10 or 15 and get the version that does not include the useless FX.
Really good quality mixer which is just right for our needs.
Needing some more inputs, I bought this Behringer Xenyx mini-mixer as an expansion console in a studio setup that already had three mixers. I was a little concerned about noise in the mixer since the other consoles are very quiet (Studiomaster, TASCAM, and Allen & Heath), however I’ve found it to be almost transparent in the signal chain. That said, with a lot of sources to record I can select high-gain instruments to feed through the mixer and turn down the input gain to drop the noise floor anyway. As a consequence it fits very nicely into the existing setup.
The lack of channel faders might concern some users since there’s far less visual confirmation of levels using rotary controls, but then again it means that the mixer can provide 12 good channels in a very small footprint (in fact my Xenyx is propped atop my main console and isn’t very obtrusive up there).
The layout is reasonably ergonomic considering that everything is crammed into the smallest possible space. The channel control knobs are a good size, with the best channel control on the leftmost four channels that have XLR and jack inputs (balanced/unbalanced). The channel gain controls operate across different ranges according to whether a Mic or Line input is connected, and channels 1-4 have +48v phantom power for any condenser mics you use that are not self-powered. The first 4 channels also have the most comprehensive EQ.
To the right of the first 4 channel strips are the channel controls for the remaining 8 channels, in 4 paired groups, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10, and 11/12. Somewhat confusingly the normally charcoal-grey pan controls seen elsewhere on the mixer are coloured blue (the colour of the EQ controls on channels 1-4) for channels 5/6 and 9/10. These paired channels lack any EQ, having just pan, volume and FX send controls, so are best used for sources for which you need no EQ (perhaps synths are best here).
The effects are not bad, but also not especially remarkable (at least in light of the fact that I have access to dedicated effects units already). They could be used to add some audio interest to a mix but for me they have the significant drawback that the FX send is a mono bus, meaning that for the stereo channels the signal is summed to mono before it enters the FX section. This to me is a compromise too far. If I have a percussion hit on the left channel I really don’t want a reverb effect that sits across the mix. I could compromise by recording such things separately, but then if I was going to do that I wouldn’t need an expansion mixer! There are quite a few usable effects provided you are okay with the mono summing of their inputs.
The unit comes with a good printed manual that seems to cater for the first-time mixer user, with detailed instructions about setting up and using the unit. The manual is also available in PDF form in their website, music-group.com. The PDF version is especially good for searching automatically for specific details that can otherwise be buried in a decent comprehensive manual such as the one for the 1202FX
As for the “British EQ” claims, well, with Studiomaster and Allen & Heath kit in the studio I already have plenty of lovely British EQ. The Xenyx operates on 12khz, 2.5khz, and 80hz, which feels very limiting when you are used to having parametric controls on at least the mids, and preferably also on the highs.
The master fader is the only fader control on the whole mixer. It is decent and positive and gets the job done. The small LED ladders have too few stages to really get a fix on how the levels are behaving. I find them less pleasant to work with than the metering on my main mixers. The Allen & Heath uses old VU meters and the Studiomaster a long LED ladder with the same ballistics as a standard VU, something that makes these very intuitive to use. The Behringer 1202FX needs a lot more attention paid to levels due to its more primitive metering although in a situation where it may stay on the same settings with the same instruments on the same inputs it is probably less of a problem.
To summarise, it’s a good mixer at the low prices it commands. It is solid and should withstand moderate use on the road and last a good long time in a fixed installation such as for a small house PA, or for worship and other similar settings. It doesn’t break the bank or your back, but neither does it mark a breakthrough in usability. That compact footprint hits the ergonomics unless you’re using it as a “set and forget” mixer. In that role, though, it does very well. With the caveats above, I can still recommend it amongst its contemporaries.
I have a Bose L1 Model II with a ToneMatch. I decided that I wanted more inputs, so I got this 1202fx. I’m very impressed. I adjusted the EQ and got virtually the same sound I was used to with the Bose. I plugged the mixer into one channel of the Bose, but decided to use the mixer’s effects … and again, after experimenting to find what I wanted, it was virtually the same sound. I could hear no hum, no noise, no distortion … nothing except a clean sound … like I had been used to with just the Bose. This is light, a small footprint … and the price is right!
Neat and portable little desk that dose a decent job. Very handy for small gigs on a budget.
What can I say other than it really is and does everything is says on the can! Seriously though, this is exactly what I needed; it lends itself perfectly to all the equipment I use and does the job very well indeed. I wonder now how I managed without this mixer and at a great price too. Well done Behringer!

This unit is pretty good but… come on, why no power button. WHY?????????
Good mixer for the price there’s a slight hum a little feedback. But I’m still working out how to get the best out of i
Handy and ideal for my first home studio setup…not tried all the effects yet or the mic’s but so far impressed and the price is nice.
***** so easy to use. I haven’t had a mixer for a long time so I thought I would be a it lost but it’s simple to figure out. You can also download a pdf version of the handbook
I bought this to use for rehearsals of a band including two vocals, a keyboard and a saxophone sent through this mixer to powered speakers. It was very easy to set up although I’m still experimenting with the FX. It’s also easy to play tracks from mp3 players or CD players when learning new songs. Highly recommended especially at this price.
impressed for the price paid and enables several mics and guitars to be used in amps with only one impu
This little mixer is perfect for small gigs or as I use it for a drum mixer. All the features of the bigger boards in a compact unit that fits easily in the gig bag. The only complaint I have is the WART power supply which as we all know is one of those items that will become lost sooner or later. Need a few extra channels on your existing mixer or just a small board for that acoustic gig this is the answer.
Our main (12ch) board took a dump last week, halfway through the first song. Grabbed this little life saver out of the gig bag, 5 minutes (and a handful of adapters) later had our band back up and running. 3 vocals, 2 guitars, bass DI and kick. New sticker on the gig bag “In case of fire break glass!!
Great little mixer with phantom power and a superb effects unit built in. Great value for money.
Excellent , very cost effective small unit – I prefer external vocal delay / reverb effects but these are also pretty good if none other available .
All very acceptable and right for the job. No .
hassle along the way. Thanks.
Can’t fault it. Everything I throw at it it copes with. FX module is worth it for the reverb on vocals alone. Creates huge, balanced sound at home and live. I started off wanting three channels then four etc etc. Ended up with this which is so versatile and responsive. Price can fluctuate but it’s under 100 so why wait any longer to take yourself forward.
Acoustically its near perfect (reverbs are not stellar, but are very good and a nice selection) The four balanced ins are just right for most small bands – trim knobs only get noisy if you crank them all the way (which means you are using too cheap of a mic – buy a new one) The two mains and independent two monitors out and CD input for playing mps3 between sets is exactly what most need.
Only downside is the power system – Its external (cheap cheap) to pass the savings on to you. So it has no on off switch and the adapter is a wiring pain and the connector in the back seems slightly ‘flimsy?’. What I did was painted about a 13 in square sheet of plywood black and plugged it into a heavy duty extension cord and lashed it all to the board (with big black wire ties). So now its always plugged in, You just plug in the extension cord to turn it on (added benefit is you get the extra plugs from the extension cord too- always needed on stage) And it still fits in my gig bag. Nice!
Cheap for a mixer. Has effects, does the job.
Don’t expect amazing sound quality from behringer but actually it’s not bad especially for the price
Don’t know how they do it for the price! Good FX selection and does what it needs to do. Very happy!
Very nice little mixer, well priced and performs well, very stable and smooth control pots and master volume slider with good effects.
Need to take care with the power supply connector, suspect this could easily be damaged if not treated with respect, also gets quite hot around the area where the power supply connects so need to ensure airflow is not restricted.
Overall I would recommend to others, if I ever need a larger model I would buy Behringer again..
Very happy with this mixer. I’ve had it for a few years now and I haven’t run into a single problem with it, it still works as if I just bought it! All of the effects work well, and are fun to play around with (if that fits your music style).
I use it mostly for live shows where I make a lot of use out of the EQs as well as the low freq. cuts. It has taken a bit of a beating over the years traveling to and from shows, and it still works like a champ. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a mixer (obviously as long as it has enough inputs for whatever you’re using it for). And I’ll definitely be buying another Behringer mixer when it’s time to upgrade.
Over all I was very happy with my choice. The build quality seems very good, all the knobs are solid and will not break on you. I enjoy having the optional phantom power button, which is needed for most of the more demanding microphones. The effects are great too!
However, it does heat up quite a bit, though I guess that is expected. The only other thing I don’t like about it is that for some reason the mixer I got slightly rocks back and forth when you set it on a flat surface (because two of the corners are slightly lower than the other two.) This really bothers me, but I got over it.
I dont know why Behringer are not more popular. This is the 4th Behringer item I have purchased and they are all good quality and cheap and often half the price of similarly specced gear from competitors. This mixer is particularly good. I use it as a submixer as I ran out of inputs on my main mixer. It does the job well. The fx isnt too shabby either. The lack of an on/off switch is my only gripe – its easy to forget to keep all channels off when powering it up with it attached to an amp – resulting in an unwanted pop – but I can live with that. My biggest problem with Behringer gear is the documentation – its always minimal and quite often wrong or unavailable. If you know what you are dealing with then that may not be an issue but if you are new to this kind of stuff then you may struggle or get frustrated. I wouldnt want one of these for live work but if its just going to sit on a desk and have the odd knob adjusted every now and again its a good buy.
A great little mixer for the price. I bought this for live work and have been very pleased with the results. The FX are very reasonable quality and the overall sound of the mixer is clear, with the ability to warm up your sound via the EQ.
I bought this small mixer for two purposes. Firstly to allow me to have more than two instruments or mics connected to my USB audio interface – so less messing around changing connections. And secondly as a small mixer for live gigs as part of a music duo. The amp equips itself admirably and I’ve no problems with the quality of sound or options. My only complaint is the lack of power switch on the mixer itself.
I am very pleased with this mixer, especially at this price point. Preamps are quiet with a lot of headroom. I’m creating a Digital Audio Workstation for home recording and this Mixer does the job very well. I’ve read others complaining about the FX (including Echo and Reverb). IMHO, I purchased a 12/2 inexpensive mixer. The FX settings are from 00 to 99 and isn’t well defined in the documentation. During a practice session, I experimented with each one to get an idea of how they sound. For a mixer at this price point the FX is very good. Echo and Reverb are the best I’ve heard so far. Of course, this isn’t like the cheaper units out there where FX is in line. FX on this unit is a remix and is added to your existing sound. The volume of the remix (FX Volume on main) will affect the sound greatly.
I would recommend this to anyone who is creating a home recording studio and wants a really nice sounding mixer with lots of headroom and easy to use. This mixer is well worth the investment.
Well first of all I’ve done business with Behringer in the past and have NOT been disappointed. Second, it’s a christmas present so I won’t get a chance to try it out till then. I owned a power mixer that I got through another musician, it was used, but I never had a problem with it, but I ended up having to sell it due to hard times and got a good price for it too. Behringer products are a good investment for the money. I would suggest checking them out first before buying anything else. I’ve owned alot of equipment in my time, and I’d have to say Behringer has never let me down. I’d consider them 1st before buying anything else. Rock on!
This is a good little piece of kit for the price. Some good vocal and instrument effects. Would probably do well for solo, duo or small group when linked to a decent output system. An on / off switch with a soft start would be a good idea to avoid the possibility of damage caused by inadvertently connecting the power input jack when already connected to the mains.
This is the second small Behringer mixer I’ve purchased this year (I also have the Xenyx 802). So far I have been extremely pleased with both mixers. I use the 1202fx to record instruments (bass, guitar, keyboard, drum machine) directly into my laptop, with the assistance of an Edirol RCA-to-USB converter. The channels are clear and noiseless. What “imprints” onto the cakewalk tracks shows no discernible sign of distortion or coloration. All jacks and knobs work well and appear solidly built. I don’t use the effects (I use outboard guitar effect pedals and the effects in my software), however a quick listen did not particularly impress me – you may want to try the mixer out at a guitar center if the quality of the built-in effects is important to you. Note that there is no on/off switch (again, not a problem for me personally as I turn on my equipment with line plug switches). Also, the light is VERY bright, but that is easily solved by covering it with a small piece of electrical or duct tape. I highly recommend both mixers.
Behringer has had a somewhat spotty reputation among many professional musicians so I was a bit apprehensive about buying this unit but so far, so good. The mic preamps sound pretty good – clean and relatively quiet. The knobs and slider feel smooth and well made.
It also seems to send hotter signal to my JBL EON 510s and that’s a good thing.
The built-in effects are probably its weakest point. I’ve heard some really cheap digital reverbs that are much smoother than this unit.
I also wish that the Control Room knob and outputs were independent of the Main Output slider. That would definitely make it a lot more practical but then again, it would also turn it into a 4 buss mixer. So all in all, not too shabby for a $110.00 mixer but I probably wouldn’t use it for recording.
If you don’t have it, you just don’t know how bad you need it. This little device is the giant step for home studio musicians who aren’t ready (or have no need) to invest a bundle in sound equipment. The 1202FX turned my 50-watt Peavey Basic bass amp into a mini-PA system. It gives you solid mic quality as well as precise guitar sound and will allow you to mix in just about anything (a drum machine, in my case) without losing any sound fidelity. On the beginner level, plugging more than two or more of anything into an amp will cost you at least 25% of your sound quality. The Behringer will astound you with the clarity and mixing ability that you can get out of even a 50-watt bass amp. The only downside is the so-called F/X, they’re almost non-distinguishable, but with what this baby produces on the front end, you won’t shed a tear. For about $150, it’s the best investment you’ll make before looking at serious long-term purchases.
