This is a great microphone for the money. Yes you might think it’s quite expensive but it’s definitely worth it. The mic picks up my voice very well for other people in games, on discord. Amazing bit of kit.

I haven’t used this for anything musical, but it is great for spoken word recordings and on-line meetings. It plugs straight into a Mac or PC with its USB-A cable, has volume and gain controls, various microphone arrangements and a headphone out socket which I have used for some camera recordings. I bought this model rather than the more expensive “X” as I mainly use an iMac and the fancy stuff on the X works only in Windows. It is big and heavy – good features for a desk-top microphone and I would highly recommend it.

For years, I’ve always gotten ‘okay’ mics. I never really understood the need for these 100 plus mics, but lately, I’ve been noticing quite a lot of reverb in my recordings.

Do you buy a new mic, or line your room with acoustic foam. Well, I bit the bullet and went for the mic, it was on offer at the time, and decided to just go for it.

What a game changer. Its in the same place as the last, no acoustic foam around the room. And this mic got me thinking my office magically became acoustics heaven.

Set this to cardioid pickup pattern, and it’s as if you’re sat in a recording studio. No bounce back, no echoes, no reverb. Absolutely perfect!

It has very good sound quality, however I got told on the day it was supposed to be delivered that it was being delayed. So I checked the order and it said it has been dispatched in Barcelona, and I would’ve at least like to be told instead of having to find out on my own.

But besides the complaint I am very happy with this purchase as it is perfect for streaming.

I bought this microphone specifically to live broadcast acoustic music into a virtual world. It replaces a set-up that involved lots of cables, a mixer and headphones, taking around 10 minutes to connect and check. Instead of all that palaver, I plugged in the Yeti and it .. just worked. I spent over an hour making sure it worked as I wished under all the circumstances that I’m likely to use it and it .. just worked. I couldn’t be happier.

Daher 4 Sterne.

This is an amazing mic from Blue! To cut to the chase, it sounds amazing and has many features. The full mic and the stand is made of full metal which I absolutely love! Great durability. It has amazing broadcast sound and the 4 pick up patterns come in handy. Also you can make the mic more sensitive with the Gain knob on the mic and I use it to irritate my friends for fun! Overall I am very happy with my purchase!

Very easy to install and very high quality! The Microphone audio is great and the boom arm was a breeze to attach to my desk and get set up – you just need to tweak the tension settings a little to get them right.
Decent value for money too when you consider the price of each part!

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersCrystal clear audio, but picks up everything. I mean everything. It’s extremely sensitive. I recommend a shock mount for this mic as it’s so good that any vibration on a fixed mount will transfer through the mic. I have the Radius III shock mount and it’s perfect for absorbing vibrations. This seems to be why so many people are complaining as the mic is picking up vibrations everywhere. It isn’t a problem with a shock mount as keyboard taps, desk shakes, phone vibrations, etc are absorbed through the mount and you’re left with the actual audio and not the vibration.
The Blue Compass mount is decent but awkward to adjust the tension on the arms at points. It’s not bad but can be frustrating. Moves easily and silently once adjusted correctly.
Adjusting the sensitivity, gain and minimising background noise of the mic might take a while so shut windows, close doors, etc.
The audio is amazing however and I have been using this for well over a year now for work and pleasure. No one has ever had an issue other than background noise (I live in London).

The only small flaw this mic has is that the red LED light blinks when it’s turned off and stays on constantly when turned on. Ideally, it should just turn off and shouldn’t be a difficult thing to fix with a firmware update!

Having switch to working from home like many of US this has been brilliant for all of the online presentations. Looks great as the boom arm fits well. Be sure though to add a pop filter and windsock to the microphone for optimal quality.

Shame it doesn’t come with a way to mount into a desk only a clamp onto the desk.

Perfect for bringing the mic in when needed, or pushing it away when not needed. Works beautifully in this regard, and the way the mic is attached means even if the arm is bumped, it does not make a sound in the recording.

I do a great deal of video calls, mostly Zoom. I also co-host two business podcasts. I’d had the Yeti microphone on my wish list for a while and when I saw this bundle, I bought it straightaway.

It’s perfect for my home office setup. The Compass boom arm is just what I was looking for. There are many boom arms on Amazon, most of them less expensive. But this was made for this bundle. The build quality is outstanding and it holds the Yeti microphone and the shock mount firmly. It’s better than any other I’ve bought in the past decade.

    Worthy of 5 stars!

I upgraded to the Blue Yeti from a Blue Snowball which i have had for roughly 7 years.
The sound quality is absolutely outstanding. Having the mic on a boom stand as opposed to sitting on the desk makes a huge improvement, both for desk space and audio quality.

My one critique with the product is that it doesn’t seem to register with BlueSherpa so i have to resort to checking audio quality through audacity.

I use it for doing on-line singarounds and open mics. The sound quality is wonderful. Obviously you have to do some experimenting to get the best sound you can….ie varying the distance between your mouth/instrument and the mic. It is a table top mic, but I found that you can hang it from a microphone stand as well with a little loop of para cord.

Firstly great mic, only two things I didn’t like, it does not have a switch off button you have to take off the usb or red light will stay which is kinda annoying when u turn your PC off second thing that bugs me is the headphones I connect under I hear a lot of white noise and still can’t figure out how to get rid of that other than those two factors great mic.

So I ordered this and have been using this for past week or so now.. And it’s not a bad mic, handy that it has gain controls, mute etc on the mic its self.. Fantastic! So I have to admit the sound quality isn’t the best if it isn’t ran through something such as voice meter or anything as such. There isn’t really enough base in the voice and the sound seems really thinned out. But over all the mics pretty decent so I give it more a 7 out of 10.

I use this for streaming, the same as plenty of other people. It’s a great microphone, don’t forget to use your filters, suppression, noise gate, EQ and compression (in that order) to get the best out of it. Only problem is that it picks up all the background noise, this can be reduced by putting the gain at the back to a low level and then setting up your filters from there.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis mic is really top quality, makes me sound great! It was simple to set up, just plug and use, my macbook detected it right away. It’s solid, heavy, really good quality. Nice long cable too. I’ve recorded voice and live music with it and it’s rich and accurate, I’ve recorded stuff at home that’s been sufficient quality for radio broadcast. I’ve also used it for live chat, zoom meetings etc and it is a huge improvement on the built in mic. If you’re recording anything or you’re using live chat more I can thoroughly recommend.

So yeah, this is not a cheap mic and nor should it be. For the price you’re getting a lot. This is superb quality and far better than anything my work provide. I use it for gaming in my personal time and for conference calls at work. It even travels with me to setup a mini conference call phone when I have multiple people in a room, everyone can be heard crisply with no issues. It by far and a way out performs the equipment we have in the office

The Yeticaster by Blue, includes a Compass Boom, with shock, desk clamp, and a Blue Yeti. The thing is as sturdy as they come, due to the construction quality that Blue puts into everything they stamp their name on.

One draw back is the mount. The clamp is separate from the arm, to allow maximum mobility. The boom just slides in to a fitting . It makes the Yeticaster easy to move around, but also susceptible to arm sway, as the heft of the arm and microphone can draw to the side quite easily, if your clamp isn’t on just so.

The sound quality is fantastic, and a lot of that has to do with the easy to use settings that Blue enables on the yeti.

If you are a gamer, YouTuber, etc. You can have an even greater control over your sound, by customizing the settings in your software of choice. OBS is a good bet, as its user interface is easy.

The sound is super crisp, and picks up everything.

So be aware of that. If you can customize what you sound like, do it.

But otherwise, there isnt much to say here.

Its easy to assemble, its plug and play, its great. Get it.

Incredible. Best Buy of the year. Used for YouTube. Originally using a much cheaper one that came with a boom arm and this fits that cheap boom arm. Sound features and settings would work for anyone and anything. Ultra sensitive. You can hear neighbours conversations through walls if you had the headphones in and had the sensitivity up at just a quarter. Full sensitivity could probably hear the spirit world…. Honestly, really clear and so many settings for single person. Duo either side. Stereo and full. Great for the asmr trend or recording nature sounds, rainfalls etc. Voice recordings are perfect for me. Usb means you can use it anywhere with a laptop / potentially even iPads and phones with an adapter. Love i

First of all the mute button doesn’t always register when it’s been pressed and can take several tries before it toggles. The microphone can pick up a lot of static, this was mostly fixed by turning the gain down and moving the USB to another USB socket that wasn’t as close to anything that could cause interface.

Once the microphone is set up its nice and easy to use and sounds very passable for a USB Microphone, just be gentle with the knobs and buttons.

After reading some other reviews, I figured that the Blue Yeti was sensitive enough to pick up the ambient noise from my loud PC and refrigerator, but nope. The cardioid mode picks up only my voice with crystal clarity, to the point that I don’t even need to do noise removal in Adobe Audition afterwards. I haven’t tried it with the sturdy stand it’s bundled with, though, which might relay more ambient noise.

EVERHTHING can be hear, including soft taps on the table etc. I recommend using the app Voicemeeter with it to make it sound even more professional. Apart from it being extremely sensitive, it’s a 10/10

  42. Ealing Gazette says:

Perfect sound and ease of use for a beginner to the streaming world, my only negative point would be that the mic stands fairly tall on the table and so depending on the height of your monitor and position of your other peripherals it can get slightly in the way. In every other technical sense it’s superb but you might want to buy one of those microphone arm things if you are serious or annoyed by it.

Love this mic, is a great step up from using integrated headset microphones.

It has very good sound quality and looks great!

The only downside would be its tendency to pickup background noise, especially a mechanical keyboard.
But this will either only annoy your friends on discord or your viewers on twitch, I’m sure this wouldn’t be an issue for other uses / content creators.

I was hunting this microphone for 9 months. I love the way is capting the sound and the voice on my radio is perfect how it should be. I don’t even use the gain and i am using on CardioID, if the gain has the full power and is on omnidirectional, can take any sound around.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersThis is not a lightweight, pop-in-the-bag-and-go kind of microphone; this is a serious unit. Whilst there may be higher spec mics out there, for the price this as close to professional as it gets; in fact, I was recommended it by a tv producer friend who actually uses this for all of their voiceover work.

Effortless to set up with Windows 10 (literally plug and play), the recordings I have started making using Audacity sound crystal clear on all the settings. A definite step up from webcam microphones, worth the investment if you’re serious about excellent recording quality.

I recommend buying a pop filter just to cancel any sound of fan blowing in the background.

The microphone itself produces a high quality input, which after only basic editing can produce a very high quality recording. Do not however use this with other microphone stands. The microphone is unusually heavy and the screw connection at the bottom of it is quite shallow, this means that it will not have a sturdy connection with 3rd party microphone stands. The stand that it comes with however, works just fine.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersPretty much what I expected. Quality overall is very good. Easy to use. Instructions and product info included. Well packaged. Yeti is known to be a quality product, no exception here. One criticism; the thumb screw adjustable fitting between the vibration damper and the brass lock nut on the arm is not great; the teeth that are to lock it at X angle are not aggressive enough and the metal seem a bit soft. The mic and damper are not light. Result is I found this fitting fussy and it didn’t want to hold at X angle securely. Overall quality is very good but the fell down on quality with this important piece of hardware.

Great product but catches a lot of background noise so I’d recommend trying out all the different settings, I have my settings on the yeti on the microphone itself to gain on the minimum which is just the sensitivity of the mic and on cardioid. Heard this mic is great for music too but don’t use it for music and use it for talking . I’ve heard negative reviews on this microphone and had a friend sent it back for numerous problems but the manufacturers sent a replacement free of charge other than the extra costs for shipping but so far I haven’t had any problems

This has so many features that other mics don’t have. I have had it for years now.. I plug my headphones in and use the Yeti as my Speaker as well as a Mic.. I can mute it, adjust the gain, and it appears to give a lovely tone to my voice. I use the Reaper DAW and a virtual cable for a noise gate in real time for my breathing– and I use Audacity to post process my voice if I need to. I also use it for voice acting, but any Mic is only as good as the reverb in your room,. I use a clothes cupboard packed with pillows or duvet’s as my voice-booth, it works a treat..smiles

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersCan I give 7 stars? No? Poop.

Definitely recommend this bundle. Bought this to upgrade from my headset, and am SUPER happy with it. Amazing for streaming. I made a Pop Filter out of a wire hanger, and some women’s pantyhose, and it sounds just like I’m on the radio according to my streamer friends/viewers.

The boom arm sets up very easily, and holds up the mic/shock mount with ease, but the joints aren’t so tight that you cannot move them. It moves very easily, and is highly adjustable. This is good as I find myself moving it around quite a bit as I fidget, and move around a lot, haha.

The shock mount is fantastic. You can tap your desk, the boom arm, or even the mount and not hear it. No bass, nothing. Amazing quality. It also extends about two inches from the mic which made it perfect to twist tie on my DIY pop filter.

The mic itself I cant even begin to sing it’s praises. I’m not a huge audiophile, so I wont go into specifics, but this mic has amazing quality. A friend of mine uses the same mic, and its like he’s right next to you talking it’s so clear and high quality. I had to get it. Then I saw this bundle, and it DOES safe you a tonne of money versus buying all three separately. You will NOT regret this, and you could use this mic your entire streaming career. The Yeti microphone is amazing, however it’s very pricey especially considering you can buy something better for an equal amount of by shelling out a little more.

The audio quality is great but I feel like it picks up a lot of background noise (I have messed with the gain and other settings), another issue I have with the Yeti is it’s size, it costs a lot to buy things specifically for this microphone like a shock mount because it’s wider than most mics which is annoying.

But it’s great if you aren’t an audiophile.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThe Yeticaster bundle I have received is excellent, stable, sleek, clean and sturdy. Only gripe is that compared with spring based systems the orientation of the last articulated segment holding the mic is not kept fixed, but it has to be corrected independently of the rest after each repositioning of the arm, unlike PSA-1 and cheaper alternatives where it is kept level. A minor issue that may become a nuisance for those that move the mic continuously as you’d have to handle the shock mount to do this, possibly generating some noise while recording.

For just 25 pounds over the boom arm and the shock-mount bought separately, you get also a Yeti mic. I was initially wary of getting a second one, as I read that they do not work well together as they all have the same serial, but was positively surprised to find that the new mic does not have the same REV8 serial as all the previous ones I have seen, but has a unique one with the date of manufacturing, so they work together well with or without an aggregate device setup.

So I would recommend getting the bundle (although still overpriced compared to US prices) and you can always resell the yeti or make a present of it if you don’t need it (just keep in mind it does not come with a table stand).

Brilliant quality mic. Very solid all metal contraction and surprisingly heavy. The different patters allow you to focus the mic and cut out side noise and background. The gain (amplifier) seem to be quite powerful, so personally I keep it set very low to reduce external noise. Do note that although stand is very solid and robust this does mean that there is no shock mount anti vibration system. For example when sat on my office desk, the mic can pick up vibrations through the desk from my computer fans, so I began sitting in on a foam pad. For me the quality is superb and by far the best audio device I can get for my budget. I bought it after seeing a singer on YouTube using one. I highly recommend it. Dave

Bought this in 2014, and is still going strong, I use this for Skype, discord, video recording and occasionlly musical recording. this fits all your needs, once you know how to use it. A lot of people complain about ambient background noise, that however, is all due to poor setup, once you know what you’re doing with audio, and get this mounted on a shock mount, this is a microphone you nearly cannot fault. I’d totally reccomend this as my top freestanding desktop microphone.

I love my Yeti Blackout. I’ve had numerous microphones in the past including a Blue Snowball, Samson Meteor and I have also had XLR mics with external mixers.

This Blue Yeti is well made, its heavy enough to feel like quality, picks up sound excellent and with the setting I use doesn’t pick up much other noise. That said, if someone is downstairs and talking, on some of the settings it pick up that very well. So, as long as have it on the right setting for what using (and possibly quiet house) it is fantastic quality.

Overall it’s a really good mic, great sound and features. Very heavy base for stability if you don’t have a mic stand.
The base did have a couple scratches, but since i have mic stand it didn’t matter to me.

the only REAL problem i have with this mic AND the snowball i bought a few years ago is they BOTH have extreeeemely dodgy USB connectors. The snowball’s connector was loose from day 1, so you had to have the cable angled properly other wise it would disconnect. and the Yeti has a similar issue, but sometimes i don’t have to move it and it stops working, and sometimes requires 2 or 3 plug ins for it to be recognized . Very annoying and a huge problem. does’y happen all the time but enough to be an issue. Not sure if i should try get a replacement or not. Seems to be a common theme i’m getting haha

I chose this after reading many reviews on how this is the best in its price range. This is indeed a very good and sturdy built mic and literally is a plug and play microphone. It came very well packaged in a fragile stickered box, so all good there. I would give this a full 5 stars but unfortunately it had a very slight scratch on the top of the mic which revealed the silver underneath all that black, this didn’t affect the performance, however for a brand new toy, you would expect it to be just that, brand new. Apart from that, a brilliant purchase.

I’ve been using this for 2 years now and its still going strong with no problems. This microphone is really powerful and picks up everything. The look of the microphone is really nice and has a great weight to it. The quality of the recordings are great and precise. Really nice and simple manual

This was an upgrade from the blue snowball after using to microphone for a very long time I wish I paid the extra money to get this microphone rather than the snowball. The snowball lasted less than a year while the life span on the yeti is fantastic and don’t think I will need to replace it anytime soon.

    Pros:
    Long lifespan
    Great recordings.
    Sturdy and heavy.
    Very Clear recording
    Price

    Cons:
Picks up a lot of background noise

I bought this for my son so I’m passing on his comments. He owned Blue snowball for a few years but due to an accident he needed to buy another, he always wanted this mic but at 100 felt it was out of his price range. Having to replace his old mic he felt this was the time to spend the extra money – I mention this because I can’t stress enough how happy he did spend the extra and get this yeti mic!! His comments are: rich constant sound with many different ways of using the mic. Clear no matter what range you use ie. directional perfect, opposite perfect, all round excellent, he was surprised at how far you can be from the mic and still get no distortion or interference. Solid and heavy so no worry about it being knocked over, quality build. No problems installing, he has windows 8.1 (so can’t comment on windows 10). So far he gives this mic 5 stars – if any issues arise I will update this review.

Upgraded from the snowball mic and can tell the difference immediatly, I make youtube videos that need a good quality mic and this is perfect, the build quality is fantastic, very sturdy and the fact that you can plug in a pair of headphones as a monitor as well as recieving audio is amazing. would recommend if you are looking to take the next step up from a headset mic. one small gripe is that the on off mic button ( the fact that there is one is great tho incase of those sneezes that sneak up on you!) does have an audible click which is picked up in recording, would prefer it to be silent but otherwise have no issues with the produc

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI use this mic every day of my life to record youtube videos with. It is a brillent mic for beginners and if you are on a even tighter budget then i reconment you buy a blue snowball instead. really easy to use with 4 settings and the box explains evey setting to you, as well as having a gain knob on the back (so you dont have to turn it up and down on the recording software). This product also has a mute button, however there isnt really a purpose for this as you can just edit out what ever it is eg snezzing. Further more it supports headphones through aux and also has a dial on the front of the mic so you can controll the volume of this!!!

Overall a really really good product.

Thank you for selling this to me !!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersThis is an amazing microphone. Beware though, it isn’t small !

I’m not a hardcore audio engineer, or even an amateur musician – my use case is simply teleconferencing – but lots of it.

However, what may be of interest to others looking at this review is the fact that it works absolutely seamlessly under Linux ( Fedora ) – this mic coupled with the “FiiO E10K Headphone Amplifier and DAC” and the “AKG K702 Open-Back Dynamic Reference Headphones” means that I can sit and teleconference for hours without fatigue or discomfort. I had previously been using “Jabra Revo Wireless Bluetooth On-Ear Headphones” which, whilst fantastic quality and an all in one solution actually make my ears hurt after heavy use ( the auricle – I had to look it up ) – and lets face it, most teleconferences are painful enough without any additional help.

Please note though that this isn’t really a portable solution !

A really nice microphone for youtube videos and such. I’ve had this connected to a windows pc and imac without issue and it worked straight away with no additional software required.
The only thing i’m not so happy about is the mute button – if you are recording and need to mute the sound for a few seconds, the sound produced by the button itself is pretty loud and is clearly picked up by the mic as a loud click. Apart from that, the thing is a peach.
These are often offered on lightning deals for around 70 so you may want to keep an eye on that if you’re in the market for one.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe audio is crystal clear I purchased this on the lightning deals (saving myself 30) and admittedly i was having second thoughts as i don’t make podcasts and its primary use for me would be for Skype calls and game play voiceovers. However when it arrived in the post all doubt i had had quickly vanished.
It is strong and sturdy and i simply cannot rave more about the build quality, having never seen one in person i didn’t know what to expect i also didn’t do much research into the product beforehand and later found out that the Blue yeti contains three different microphones under the cover, each facing different directions as well giving you the option to switch to four different types recording patterns including: stereo mode (recommended for vocals, ensemble choir and instruments), Cardioid mode (podcasts, voiceovers, vocals and instruments), Omnidirectional (conference calls, field recordings and events/orchestras) and finally Bidirectional (interviews, instruments and vocal duets).

Overall i am thrilled about the product even though i will probably will never use it to its full potential, delivery was unexpectedly fast which is always a bonus.

I bought this around 8 weeks ago and at first it wouldn’t work properly as Blue ship the microphone with a broken USB cord as has happened with nearly everyone who’s purchased this microphone.

Lately the mic has developed a sort of static his akin to a faulty cable, I swapped out the cable for the 3rd time and the static sound is still there so I can only presume it’s down to a faulty USB port on the mic.

When it works this mic is awesome but Blue seriously need to take a look at things for this thing to shine –

    1. Whoever is supplying your USB cables, Fire them, From the hundreds of posts I’ve read nearly every single one is broken.

    2. Make the USB port a little higher quality, As it stands now it’s a bit on the cheap and flimsy side.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI was originally an owner of the Blue Snowball Ice. Whilst this microphone provides clear usable audio which is great for a starter mic for youtube videos etc I found it to be a bit limited in its functions. Through a lightning deal I decided to pick up the Yeti to replace it. Here you will find a straight forward sound comparison between the snowball, the snowball ice and the yeti along with our overall thoughts.

I am glad that I made the decision to upgrade. The mic provides a richness to the sound that the other two simply dont come anywhere near. But have a listen for yourself, I have not edited the audio in anyway.

I love my Blue Yeti. It’s a big beast but can be forgiven as it performs wonderfully. Lusted after one of these for a while to use with my screen capture videos. I kept stalling due to the price but eventually caved in and purchased. It’s beautiful to look at, looks professional and records great audio quality in both Audacity and Camtasia.

Highly recommended but the size may put some off. Comes with a stand as shown but can easily be mounted to a boom arm if needed. And yes, the cheaper boom arm (link below) holds the Yeti up just fine.

It sounds great but its a professional mic. You see a lot of youtubers doing play throughs use this but they have professional set up.
If you have the mic on your desk it will pick up all the key strokes and mouse clicks even on minimal gain. My chair makes a creaking sound when I move and it picks up all that. The cardiod mode still picks up sound from the other side but on my $10 mic, it doesnt pick up anything at all.

I had to deduct 1 star for super super sensitivity

So I upgraded my mic from my gaming headset Triton AX 720s to this for my YouTube channel as I wanted even better sound and its defentially done that for me, Sounds so much more clear and people have already said how much its improved my content.

I will also be using this for live streaming and have tested it out on twitch and so on and the sound is some of the best ive heard, apart from your crazy big streamers with their audio technica mics.

Reason for only 4 stars is that I wanted to get a mic crane for my desk and shock mound and there is really only 1 option and thats the super expensive shock mount and stand that yeti make themselves! and im not willing to may more for that stuff then the mic itself that would be crazy.

In conclusion its a really good mic for the price and will turn anyone s YouTube into something special. Just be aware of the accessories prices as they are super high and not many if any cheaper options out there.

A great buy, bought this via Amazon warehouse and product came undamaged and fully functioning. As for the yeti it’s self it’s a solid design and has good audio quality out of the box, quality can be improved or worsened by changing the gain. For me the product sounds great and if I’m unsure on how the mic sounds it’s easy enough to plug some headphone in and get zero latency feedback. The only cirri toque I have for this mic, which is more my issue than the products, is that to get the best audio quality with least background noise the gain must be set low and while playing games it’s not practical to lean down to the mic. However due to the different mounting options I should be able to get a desk arm soon as well as a pop filter and shock mount to replace blues stand. Overall great product with lots of options for optimisation 5/5 would buy again.

This mic has impressed me. I had a rough idea of what quality I would get from the mic after reading and watching enough reviews to make me want to buy it but when it arrived and I loaded it up in the program Audacity I was pleasently surprised at the difference between what I was using before and this mic.

The price isn’t too much so I can’t really complain about that

The true kick in the nads came when trying to purchase a shock mount for it. The mount has ended up costing at least the same price as the mic itself because they aren’t sold in Europe. The mount is not worth the money I paid for it, and the only reason I’m saying this is because the mount is something quite important to the functionality of the mic. You’d like to believe that the stand it comes with is enough but personally I didn’t think that was the case for what I wanted out of the mic.

Either way, I’m glad I bought the mic but I think that the necessity of the stand alone shock mount for most application at a price similar to the mic itself is pretty gross.

Like the title says it is an amazing microphone , produces incredible sound quality. but when it arrived i noticed but did not take much detail to the condition. on the left of the microphone stand and the knobs to tighten it into the desired place look bent/worn out and some of the metal paintwork on that side has scratched off in places. for what is Supposed to be a NEW item i dont find this acceptable. If whoever reads this from the company could you please tell me if this is Eligible for a replacement. I wont be too fussed if not because it dose work the way its made too. Its just not in the 100% condition i was hoping it to arrive in.

I am not professional musician, I use this microphone mostly for conference calls. To me this is a really good microphone and it looks very nice. I like it a lot, however, there are a few things I do not like about it:
    – it is a bit too sensitive (even with the gain control set at minimum it captures a lot of sound – this might be a benefit for some users, but not for me)
    – the mute button is a bit flaky and sometimes it doesn’t work from the first push (even if it “clicks”)
    – the led on the mute button is always on and I found no way to turn it off without unplugging the USB cable or turning the computer off (this might not be a problem for people with portable computers)

Well as I said it is awesome for recording, you can set it up to diffrent types of audio modes. I have currently only used it to gameplay recrding (just so it is said).
The Microphone has good quality sound, works great with Xsplit, bandicam, skype….

    Gameplay recording:
The only negative side with the blue yeti is that it takes up so much background noise, so if you use a mechanical keyboard then you need to buy a pop filter and maybe a mount for it. I did not do this so I am just pointing it out.
But then again that was my fault.

Also note that it is not something to carry around, but ofc you usually don’t carry around a usb microphone (It is medium sized).

Anyways the Microphone in it self is so good, it fits very good on a table and the price is pretty good, (5 stars :D)

I was in the market for a microphone, and settled upon this as I wanted the freedom of recording with studio quality as an option as well as using it for VOIP. The price is something that I was worried about at first, but decided it was worth the money. Service was exceptional, on time and the item was completely intact and finely packaged.

But Enough chat! time for the microphone!

I have carried out some extensive testing and seemingly cannot fault the clarity of the sound Produced by the three capsules sealed inside the chrome mesh. The various modes offered including cardiod, bidirectional etc. Are extremely useful for various scenarios, even though I don’t see myself Conducting interviews very often, but I’m sure some people will. The included stand for this microphone is substantial, but lacks some vibration absorption so purchasing the compatible radius shockmount might be a future option, but due to the expense required a simple vibration absorbing mat will suffice for now. The look of the microphone is a nice retro style, a classic trip to the old radio mics, but has a pleasing aesthetic that should displease few, and although not essential for some people, it is good that Blue have clearly put a lot of thought into its design.

In conclusion, This a microphone of high build quality, and high sound quality, that I would recommend for any user from casual or new user up to professional.

The Blue yeti was a game changer when it comes to usb microphones. To my knowledge It was one of the first USB condenser microphones and might well still be one of the best. I have had the microphone over a year now and have used it everywhere from Skype calls with friends to recently at a school concert where I had to record the show with very little previous notice. The microphone provides a very crisp recording and can handle high and lows quite well for a microphone in this price range. Unfortunately 1 year on my Yeti is out of use ! ): I contacted blue about the fact that all that could be heard through the mic was static noise. They were very quick to reply and my microphone is currently being repaired. Due to the nature and sensitivity of condenser microphones there internals can be damaged quite easily but that is not unique to the yeti. On thing I would note is that in order to have the microphone repaired it must be posted to California! The price for me to post the package amounted to 34 which I was not happy about. I would not let that put you of however, though it would be nice if Blue took this into consideration.

I ordered the Blue Yeti microphone after my Geoteck EX05 headset mic decided to give up the ghost after a few days of death throws. I first ordered a cheap Trust Starzz one, which went back the following day (absolute rubbish).

I should say that I use a microphone primarily for Youtube gaming videos, so you know what use I am putting the Yeti to.

As other reviewers have said, the setup is a piece of cake. I concur.

The Blue Yeti is a very good microphone (at least for my purposes). It is pretty sensitive and does require a little experimentation to get the results one requires. I found the Cardiod setting to be the best for me. I do find that the microphone does pick up my keyboard and mouse a little more than I’d like; but until I can afford a stand I’ll have to put up with that.

The build quality is extremely good; solid and weighty.

It is ostensibly a USB mic, but also has a dimm (I believe that’s what it’s called) multi-pin connection.

I would certainly recommend this microphone for voice recording.

I am very pleased with this microphone, it does everything I expected it to and MORE.
I use it for recording relaxation videos and also for creating my own music.
At first I started with the cardoid mode as it only picks sound up from the one side (helps to eliminate background sounds) but after further use I found the first setting to be the best for my particular type of recording, as the instruments and voice pick up is much clearer and easier to do.
Overall I am very happy with this product, having previously got the blue snowball (which was also good before the connection became faulty) I decided to spend a little more for this microphone and boy am I glad I did!
    Recommend without question 😀

I’ll echo the other reviews around here and start off by saying that this is an excellent microphone, true value for money. I bought the Blue Yeti to use for recording commentaries for my gameplay videos. It does the job amazingly well and the audio is superb, exactly what I was looking for.

One problem I did encounter was that it picked up the sound of my Keyboard and Mouse, which was quite a problem. However, I solved this by purchasing a studio arm. If you don’t want to splash out the extra money on one of those however you could always just fold up a Jumper/T-Shirt and put it under the default stand which should get rid of any vibrations from your keyboard.

Overall, I’d say an amazing product and definitely value for money.

The only problem with this is how sensitive it is, bought for my sons birthday, he immediately had to create his own muff cover for it by using 2 socks as it picks up every little sound and with him having younger siblings in the next rooms it can get very noisy. His computer is on the floor, so he does not need to worry about the vibrations from that being picked up, but when he gets his new desk I will take previous comments regarding this into consideration and look for a suitable mount. the feedback from his friends is when using for conversations and gaming, his voice is crisp and clear and the controls allow for easy setup when using it to record sounds or music. All in all for the price it is a very robust, sturdy and heavy mic that you definitely feel you are getting your moneys worth out of. I have ordered him a muff cover for it and you should consider this if you have a noisy house or neighbours 😛

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersJust a quickie; if you need a direct to USB mic and want high quality results with a minimum of fuss, this is The One to consider. It’s reasonably priced too.

Have been using the Yeti with Macbook Pro (FCPX, Garageband, Logic Pro etc.) for about 6 months now – interviews, vocals, live performances, all sorts – and the results are consistently astounding. The sound is always crisp. In fact, some might criticise it for a slight lack of warmth, but really, just EQ it a bit if you want warmth, because the raw material in all its’ fidelity is right there.

The mic looks and feels very cool – substantial – with a rugged, metal build. Have found the onboard direct monitoring surprisingly useful, and the multiple mic settings are a HUGE asset. The various settings make this mic incredibly versatile – suitable for just about any type of land-based recording. This is a 5* bit of kit for home studio and road recording; it’s fun to use, feels well made and solid and it sounds amazing.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis microphone is absolutely amazing. The sound quality is fantastic. You have to play about with the Gain a little. And if you are recording Electric guitar, then you have to turn the sound volume down in the “properties” section of the control panel on computer. I normally turn this down to 90%. And then I can turn the gain control up a little. It says something about the above in the instructions. If you don’t do this, then you may encounter some feedback.
Regarding Windows 8: I just plugged the USB connected to the mic into my computer, it downloaded the driver straight away, and was recognised. The Laptop I am using is a Samsung NP550P5C.
I only mention Windows 8 because I was a little sceptical about buying this because some reviews mention it is not recognised on their computers with the Windows 8 operating system.
Overall, this is probably the best microphone you can buy for this amount of money.

Great microphone, plug and play thats it.. Drivers installed automatically on Windows 7, fantastic audio quality. Nice heavy feel too it, buttons would of been nice if metal and not plastic but they will be fine. I did think mine was broken because I plugged it and the headphone jack on the microphone wasn’t working, but then figured out that this microphone requires a decent amount of power from a USB port, and if you have stuff like mobiles and other usb devices plugged in it won’t give you the no latency headphone port on the bottom of the microphone to listen to yourself, so I suggest when you get this, plug this in first then other USB devices after so it gets priority power on the computer and work perfectly, I was worried at first!!

Anyways, great microphone, great price, great weight + build quality, and looks great. Buy one!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m not going to say to much on this because most of the reviews on here pretty much speak for this product and how good it is. My microphone arrive today, and the first thing I did was a simple voice test to compare the difference between the internal recorder of my Mac, and the Yeti. Well O my god, the quality is fantastic. My voice even sounds like I’m on the radio, you all know what I mean, that pure quality you can only achieve with a professional microphone. It’s great for doing assorts of media work, whatever you are into or do for a job. Whether it’s, Podcasts, Interviews, Voice Overs, or even using it for Skype calls.

The one thing I have purchased along with this Yeti, was a (a not so cheap pop filter, with dual layers). This also does make a big difference when speaking, and reduces the P’s B’s etc. I would have purchased the pop filter through Amazon, but it was not available at the time. So I ordered my pop filter through another company called, “Editor Keys”, it’s called “The Dual Layer Pop Filter”. It was on offer and reduced almost to half price, but it could have gone back up to full by now. But check them out anyway, quality gear.

But in all seriousness, what a great purchase this has turned out to be. Buy it, you will love it.

The box alone shows the quality of this microphone, it is a gorgeous microphone. I was so disappointed when the output was distorted and uncontrollable.

I tried all sorts of settings for hours with very poor results. I really thought about sending it back and buying something else. then I tried it in another computer and everything was perfect. the tonal quality, adjust ability, everything about this microphone was as I wanted and expected.

It is big, heavy and almost impossible to get to fall over. The designers went to town when designing this product. They seem to have got everything right.

My problem was a crappy Lenovo computer. The computer is another story. I love this microphone which now can be used. I was almost believing that the good reviews were wrong or I had a faulty microphone.

I would certainly buy another one. (But not the same make of computer.)

After a bad experience with the poorly made Snowball device, (4 pins broke after it was unplugged), I decided to spend a bit more on the Yeti. As with the Snowball I simply plugged it in to my iMac and it was instantly recognised. I like the design of the Yeti, and the heavy base is good and makes the mic much more sturdy. As for the sound quality, unless you were a pro singer, I cant see why would you look anywhere else. Good thing this mic has a gain dial, its so sensitive my Skype buddys complained when I first got it, because they could here my washing machine, which is in the laundry room downstairs!! Had it for 3 months now and nothing has broke off, and sound quality is still amazing!

    Hi.

I had this on my wishlist for a while and I finally treated myself.
I don’t really use it for any professional tasks yet, but I think it might propel me in that direction soon.
I am absolutely amazed by the clarity of this microphone.
In my default setup I have some fairly high end headphones, which do not feature a microphone – until now I have been using some cheap one.
With this microphone there is nothing in front of my face and it picks up the sound better than any head or desk microphone I have ever had.
I typically use for Skype and it has made a world of difference as well – what I previously attributed to problems with Internet Connection, were clearly problems with microphone input – now gone.
Other things to consider are the very handy knobs on the mic itself – you can mute or adjust the levels very quickly – there is also a headphone jack which I personally find very handy, finally I like the different modes that the microphone has – one that I like the most is the bidirectional one, excellent for interviews – it amplifies the sound from you and you interlocutor and attenuates sounds from other directions.
Finally the build quality is excellent – it is very heavy and the base is built from metal.
As described – it works flawlessly on Windows and Mac.

Firstly it is a brilliant product, however I have not yet experienced the full thing because a few months after getting one, my friend told me there was crackling and popping noises. At first I thought it was due to the sensitivity of the mic, but after emailing Blue, they told me it was defective and sent me a replacement. The replacement came within 2 days but on opening the package the box was crushed. All seemed fine after discovering the polystyrene had absorbed all the impact, so that is good packaging on Blue’s half, and bad handling on Amazon’s half.
The new one seemed fine at first but I noticed the same crackling again, and after a very quick response from Blue they said get another replacement.
In the end I have decided to try and get a refund for the mic and purchase a Nessie when it is released, or one of the other popular alternatives.

To conclude, good product from what I experienced, great customer service from Blue, but at the end of the day going to have to ditch the Yeti and go for something else.

I have been eyeing this microphone for a while. The price was quite steep (over 110) and I was not totally sold. I have tried the snowball microphone but it was really not good enough for podcasting and quality recording. Luckily over the past few weeks the price of the Yeti has dropped dramatically and I got it for under 90. The microphone is very solid, looks great and works very well with my Mac. I use it with garage band and screenflow. The recording is smooth but … it is so powerful that catches all the background noise, which can be annoying. I had to work out some tweacking to get the best sound for podcasts and I am fairly satisfied with the results. I have not tried the Rode Podcast (which apparently is better) as the price is still over 130. For the price that I have paid I am happy with the tool. Check out the price as it keeps on dropping! Excellent delivery and service provided by amazon.

Somewhat larger and heavier than I was expecting, first use has shown this to be an excellent podcasting mic, every bit as good as the Samson C01U that I have used previously. This Yeti has the added advantage of switching between 4 different recording patterns for much greater flexibility and is only a little more expensive than the Samson with no stand/base. It is similarly of sturdy construction (although larger) and is well supported by its integral base.

Set up was reasonably simple with Windows 7, but I always seem to end up faffing around during initial set up of mics, both in Control Panel and Audacity (the editing software I use). You seem to have to set the audio input in both (not an issue with the microphone, just the way that the operating system and software work). In Audacity you do this in Edit/Preferences. Note that if you opened Audacity and then plugged the mic in, you may need to close Audacity and re-open it to get the mic recognised. Once set up, it is plug and play thereafter and the initial frustration is all worth while!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is a great mic. A really great mic. I use it for podcasts, my co-presenters also have Yeti mics and we merge all four recordings later. The mic is substantial, it really looks and feels like a quality product.

Yeti is very sensitive, my co-presenters could hear my chair squeaking via Skype and it has meant me rearranging things to get the best possible sound quality to avoid hum from hard drives etc. I can’t be any more positive about this mic.

So, why didn’t I give it five stars? Because it was supposed to be able to connect to an iPad via the iPad Camera Connector kit. It doesn’t. It seems an Apple firmware update put paid to that a few months back and now the iPad complains that the device needs too much power.

I read one report that someone had worked around this by using one of those dual-power USB cables you sometimes get for portable hard drives and providing more power to the mic. I tried this but still no luck.

So, it seems I won’t be using my Yeti+iPad for mobile recording, but hey, this is still an awesome mic, the best I’ve ever used.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAmazing sound quality, and extremely stylish. Hold it close for a warm rich tone, our put it in room mode to capture everything that’s going on with crystal clarity. It’s USB so there’s no interference from your device, no background hum from the fans or processor. It has a gain control, so you can optimise your capture, and the whole casing, including the stand it cast metal so it’s very sturdy. This is a big, heavy unit though, so you probably don’t want to be carrying it around with you. It’s really for a home studio.

I use mine with Audacity for audio capture, and mix videocasts with Final Cut Pro X. I plugged it into my macbook and it just worked, there was no setup involved at all, it just appeared in all the audio-in dropdowns. If you’re doing close work, you may want to invest in a pop shield.

Golden Review Award: 32 From Our UsersI just had to have the Yeti from the moment I first saw it.

It shows a level of design thinking that is sadly lacking in so many other high tech devices these days, and the visual design work goes right down into the guts of the thing also. The three capacitor microphone arrangement produces one of the most flexible microphones on the market today.

I have used it mostly so far in cardioid mode to record my voice and a bit of acoustic guitar, it produces a truly studio quality sound that the BBC would be proud of. One rather perceptive reviewer on You Tube pointed out that when you press the mute button there is no click or pop, as they put a capacitor across the switch to prevent it happening, which to me is just another indication that a lot of work was put into both the visual and technical design of this device.

The price on Amazon does tend to bounce around a bit from day to day, so it might be worth checking back to the site a few times before finally placing an order.
