A brilliant tap that is very easy to fit. Althought I would recommend it for a first time fitting as the pipework had to be altered due to the length of the tails. Apart from that it is a well built tap that is excellent value for money
To replace another eazyfit tap it took five minutes to install because the fittings were already there tap works well
Exactly what I wanted. A quality item, installed easily, such lovely well made taps. Worth every penny. You definitely get what you pay for. I’ve bought cheaper imported ones before and they were rubbish. A good British company, you might pay more but in the long run it’s worth it.
This tap looks lovely and functions well. A professional plumber only takes about 45 minutes to fit it.
Once it’s in place, it feels solid with a really smooth action.
All this is to be expected from Bristan who have a good reputation for plumbing supplies.
Good quality. Easy to fit. I replaced a Cooke & Lewis mixer which did not allow a replacement cartridge to stop serious dripping so it had to be binned. This Bristan tap is far better, very pleased. All taps in the house are now Bristan.
Plumber said all taps can be tricky so no surprise it wasn’t five minute job but he did say it went in well and we are very pleased
Nothing really to dislike. It definitely looks and feels like quality. I’m hoping that it doesn’t drip as others do. Fingers crossed.
Installed in 20 mins by a plumber. Good arc angle over the sink, seems sturdy so far but only just installed. No leaks, so happy to date.
This is a great tap, very easy to install, easy to clean and doesn’t feel cheap and flimsy
Well packaged, the Bristan CHV EFSNK C Chive Easyfit Kitchen Sink Mixer Tap with Swivel Spout is pretty easy to fit if you know what you are dong. It feels solid and has a modern design. A really good make of tap.
I finally got around to installing this after a few months of putting it off as I was concerned that removing the old tap was going to be difficult and that things would not be quite right for the new tap…
My concerns, it turned out, were founded. It took about 90 minutes to get the old tap out and to cut back the original pipework to a suitable length for the flexi tails supplied with this new tap. Why am I telling you about the old tap? Simply because you need to factor this into the total time to install.
Once the old was out and it was time to put n the new all went very smoothly. Take note of the instructions which indicate which is the hot tail and which is the cold and you can’t go far wrong.
Note that, as with any tap installation or work under a basin, you will likely need a second pair of hands to hold things above the sink while you work away below (or vice versa) – unless you are Stretch Armstrong of course.
The install of the new tap itself took about 15 minutes. Someone who plumbs regularly should be able to do it even quicker.
Once in I have to say this really is a great quality tap. Even if this had taken an hour to install it would have been worth it.
The action of the levers is very very smooth. The opening and closing is very definite, when you close the tap the lever hits the back stop (lever vertical) and the water stops entirely. No dribbles. Perfect.
It also looks great!
One small point to note, though. The spout of the tap has a removable ring, like most taps. I removed this to try to fit a directional nozzle and unfortunately this ring (and its accompanying thread underneath) is too long to take the directional nozzle even with the many adapters the nozzle comes with.
That, in itself, is not he real problem, though. By removing this ring I discovered that the edges of this part of the tap are VERY VERY sharp. I actually sliced my finger my the edge giving what was like a nasty paper cut. Even after replacing the original ring, I checked and there is a sharp edge around this joint so you need to be a bit careful around it.
(Note that removing this ring is normal maintenance practice for a tap as it allows you to clean or replace the strainer in the end of the tap)
This sharp edge aside, this really is a lovely looking and very high quality tap – and easy to fit to boot!
Well, at first i thought this was a project we could tackle ourselves, but it looked a lot more daunting than I felt we could cope with so we waited until our plumber friend was free. I am so glad we waited. It took him well over an hour. It was not so simple. We are in a fairly new house so I thought we are bound to have the right fittings in already, but we did not have the flexible hoses or an isolation switch for each pipe, and so the copper pipes had to be sawn to fit on the flexible hoses provided. The easy part was popping the tap on the top once all the underneath work was done, but there was no way we could ever have attempted to do fiddle about with the pipes underneath without the knowledge of what we were doing. So , not really a solution I would recommend to anyone as an easyfit, but it is rather a nice tap once it is fitted. Easy to use with the levers and very smart looking. So all in all I am very pleased with it now it is fitted.
Beautiful modern mixer tap, very elegant looking and of very high quality. Universal and very easy to fit. Looks fantastic in my kitchen, am very pleased with it. Highly recommended product.
I’m familiar with Bristan, a reputable name for quality and design.
Receiving this tap to review couldn’t have come at a better time as my mum’s mixer tap had given up at the pivot point on the neck of the spout.
The size and dimensions of this tap were pretty much the same as the one it was replacing but the style and solid quality of this Bristan are far better. I like the way the body of the handles seamlessly meets the main stem of the tap, it’s very sleek. The neck and taps feel very sturdy in use.
As an avid DIY’er I have two rules: stay away from electrics and plumbing!!, that said I thought I’d give it a go as I’ve seen a couple of tap installs made to look very easy. Once turning off the hot and cold valves a couple of spanners allowed for the old flexy pipes to be disconnected. Unbolting the old tap proved to be a 30 minute frustration (that’s an understatement). One the old tap was clear the new Bristan went into place with ease, tightening up was a doddle which then just left the flexy hoses to connect to the valves which was no problem (instructions and everything required for install in the box) . The install of the new tap was about 10 minutes.
I’m pleased to be able to add plumbing to my DIY skill set and the tap simply looks stunning, I’m very pleased with it.
I grabbed these taps to replace my kitchen sink taps that have recently acquired an irritating drip.
Fitting wasn’t quite as easy as I had hoped, but I think this is down to the layout and placement of my existing sink and not the fault of these taps, I would have struggled with taps from any manufacturer. It was certainly easier to fit these than it was to remove their predecessors, if that helps at all?
Now they are in place they work just as you would expect. They look great and I am very pleased with them.
This mixer tap is top quality in looks and in quality. Well worth the price for outstanding workmanship and design, that includes the fixture and fittings. My plumber said they were a doddle to fix and easier than taking off my ‘smaller out dated old one’.
My husband would have normally connected this mixer tap in, but old age stops him from getting under the sink, this is the only reason we called in a plumber friend.
I like how high the spout is compared with my old one, which was always getting in the way even when moved to the side. This one however allows me to get pans, bowls etc in and out of the sink without constantly moving to the side. out of the way. Love it. It makes it easier to fill the water jugs or the kettle too.
What a gorgeous mixer tap. The simple, elegant design would fit nicely in a range of interiors, pairing a clean aesthetic with practical styling such as the simple lever handles (great when your hands are covered in soap suds/cooking grime) and the high arc of the spout (so you can easily fit a bucket under it). Every component is so beautifully made, it almost seems a shame that to fit the unit a lot of this will get hidden, but it’s also really easy to understand how to install it, thanks to instructions with clear diagrams and written in plain english.
Not being a plumber I was dreading fitting this Bristan tap to my sink. However fitting it was a lot more easy than I was expecting thanks to the easy fit technology for quick and simple installation. Fitting it took me about half an hour. This tap is made from chrome and looks very stylish. The water flows at a steady pace and the tap looks really nice in the kitchen. It is also suitable for baths as well as sinks. The smooth finish makes it very easy to clean. I am very happy with this tap.
The Bristan CHV EFSNK C Chiv Easyfit Sink mixer is well packaged and comes complete with all fixings including isolation valves.
However, if you need to fit the isolation valves you will need a fair amount of ‘know how’ and the right tools for the job. If you already have isolation valves installed the job will be much easier for you and can be done as a 15-30 minute DIY installation.
This product has an unusual and modern fitting in that the tap clips onto a pressure fitting a bit like a Hozelock. So installing the fittings to the sink is really easy, so long as you already have the isolation valves fitted.
It has quality, the casting is heavy and solid. With two handles to allow separate control over either the hot water, cold water or mixed.
Incidentally the isolation valves are also one way valves so that if you have uneven water pressure such as low pressure hot and high pressure cold, the valves will prevent the cold pressure backing up into the hot water. A nice touch was including these valves.
So this tap is ideal for houses where water pressure may be an issue. With separate taps is is far superior than some single tap mixers that struggle with pressure differentials between cold and hot inlets where the cold water under pressure can overwhelm the hot from mixing correctly.
Personally, I prefer separate handles for hot and cold in a mixer tap.
The mixer tap looks stylish and the handles operate smoothly. It has ceramic disc cartridges which on some taps can make running cold water sound like a train passing by. However, these are very quiet compared to the cheaper mixer I replaced.
With everything included in the box it took less than 35 minutes to switch this with my older mixer tap. This included replacing the existing isolation valves with the ones provided in the box. This necessitated turning off the stopcock and blocking and then draining the hot water feed. Without the right tools this is not a straight forward DIY job.
I have to say that I have been pleased with the quality of construction. That said they are a lot more expensive than a number of other similar products. I have installed ‘cheap’ before and you tend to have to replace them a lot sooner than you expect. I have had two 36 mixers last less than a year and a replacement cartridge was impossible to install as the metal in the mixer was so cheap the threads just stripped out.
If you like to change the look of your bathroom every year then you might as well buy cheap, if you want products to last you generally get what you pay for and this Bristan will be worth the purchase.
NB: Some simple jobs can throw up unexpected problems. Just before I was ready to replace the tap I took everything out of the under sink cupboard and then found the cold water mains feed joint which sits in front of the stop cock which reduces the 25mm mains pipe to a 15mm copper pipe split and leaking. Two of my neighbours on my estate have had this joint split and flood their houses in the last couple of years. Coincidence? It splits under the stop cock so that the only way you can stop the flow of water is by turning off the mains supply in the street next to the meter. It always pays to know where the meter is and have the tool to turn off the water to your house.
Whoever installed the pipe when the house was build did a really shoddy job and I am surprised the joint hadn’t split sooner.
While the mixer tap replacement took 35 minutes, the replacement of the pipe reduction joint took the job up to two hours. So the moral of the story is, expect the unexpected, plan for the worst, have the right tools or get the plumber in.

On occasions we have noticed that after using the hot tap on its own the cold tap valve loses its smooth operation and becomes a little sticky. This I believe, is the result of expansion when one side of the tap gets hot, though our hot water is nowhere near boiling. On two occasions there has been some strange siphoning behaviour where the hot tap has become creaky and notchy in operation and no water comes out when it is turned on. Leaving it for a few minutes and running the hot taps in our utility room seems to cure it.
It has happened now on three occasions but then it goes back to working without issue. I wonder whether the angled tap valves are at fault.
This was used to replace a very boring set of taps at the kitchen sink. They were easy to install and have functioned very well. Highly recommend.
I have wanted to replace my taps for some time and when the chance came for me to get these taps I jumped at it. My plumbing skills leave a lot to be desired however I have been told by friends that these are easy taps to fit and I would be fine?!?!?! So with much trepidation I set about removing the current taps. I can confirm that removing those taps took me a LOT longer than it did to fit these new ones and it was super easy!
There are no tiny fiddly little screws to have to manage and everything felt solid. Once fitted I realised it had taken me about 30 minutes to fit these as opposed to nearly an hour with the old set and (fingers crossed) there seems to be no leaking! They look very nice in my kitchen and I am thrilled with them. A solid and sturdy but elegant set of mixer taps
This looks absolutely beautiful once you’ve got it fitted. The fitting is easy simple the instructions clear and plain. Took about 20 minutes to get fitted properly. Doesn’t leak doesn’t build up residue doesn’t cause any problems just a really nice modern piece of plumbing.
This mixer tap from Bristan is not a make I am familiar with,Cnut I am now super impressed with. In chrome it comes in a well packaged box and I was so excited on opening as it as it so elegant and classy looking.
My husband looked a little, doubtful why I told him the blurb said it was simple to fit and we did not need a plumber. He was apprehensive as he said taps when fitted are notorious for leaking. Taking a leap of faith he fitted this tap in my kitchen, replacing one that was well overdue for changing, he managed it in under half an hour, and it works a dream with absolutely no leaks.
The only snag we had was the pipes were too short so we just stopped them over with the old ones and job done. They look amazing and the quality is fantastic, now I need to change the ones in the utility room as these look so good they show the other ones up.
This is a really nice, expensive looking tap which comes well packaged and is surprisingly easy to install. With no plumbing experience and a few tools I was able to fit this in around 20 minutes. The design is fantastic and it teaches quite far over the sink. The controls are well weighted and smooth to operate, and are easy to use by the elderly and infirm, no tightening taps involved just a simple lever
Add to this the quality of the brand and its a great purchase. Yes you can get cheaper elsewhere but it’s worth paying the extra for the quality and the ease of installatio
Some confidence is required to fit this mixer tap but it’s a simple design and comes with the hex keys required to fix the tap to the sink. Even though the instructions say that the flexible water hoses can be tightened by hand, I found it necessary to give them an extra twist with a spanner. I certainly didn’t want any leaks when the water was turned back on.
It’s a bold statement to say that no plumbing skill is required because it assumes that the copper pipes are long enough to reach the tap’s flexible hoses. I had to keep my old mixer tap hoses because the ones supplied with the Bristan tap were too short. Plumbing, like every DIY job, involves common sense, problem solving and the right tools.
Anyway, the job is done and our old leaky kitchen mixer tap has been replaced with this solid Bristan tap. I like its art deco and yet contemporary look. Unlike some reviews I read of other Bristan taps, this one shuts off immediately with no dribbling. It’s the perfect kitchen mixer tap.
I like the smart, sleek and simple design of this tap, which not only looks good but which should also make it easy to keep clean. The tap is tall enough to get a bucket under with easy, and I like the long reach of the tap. the taps have a positive feel to them in use and the spout rotates with ease.
Fitting was extremely easy even if the instructions could have been rather more explicit, and it required the absolute minimum of tools. While quite used to tackling all sorts of jobs about the house, including major ones, plumbing I approach with reluctance and is usually the one I call in the professionals for, so this is only the second tap I have fitted. The installation however took very little time and presented no problems, and when completed there were no leaks!
