“As an animal chiropractor, I am always looking for collars that are gentle, reduce the amount of stress, and essentially eliminate the potential for injury to a dogâs neck and spine. The Canny Collar does just that and still allows owners to properly control their dog.”

Superb x best thing I’ve ever bought for my dog X pleasant walk finally rather than being yanked along x
Like most cockapoo owners I struggle to control my dog and stop them from pulling on the lead.
The canny collar is honestly a life saver. The dogs do not pull on them at all!
However the dogs do like to try and pull the loop off their nose, so it’s not totally foolproof, but does definitely make walks easie
I bought this to stop my dog from pulling and jumping at cyclists and farm vehicles on the road. I works very well. My only issue is that it is a bit loose on the second hole of the buckle and too tight on the third hole of the buckle.
I have to have it a bit loose and to could come off if she dragged behind me.
Collar as described and from the very first time put on our Cocker Spaniel she did not pull. It is not too tight and does not appear to bother he
Helps my gsd soo much with not pulling! Giving 4/5 stars for comfy as it is probably not the comfiest for his nose but it does the job very well!
Love it. No where near as harsh as other makes that I can’t name, but it does the job perfectly, as good as the others but better, because you have peace of mind that pups can’t wriggle out of them.
Excellent addition for trying to train the dog NOT to pull your arm from the socket:) with time it’s more of a deterrent and WORKS after using for a month I find he hates it so much I remove from nose as a positive and put nose strap back on if pulls… great help I now enjoy the walk too
Wish I had discovered these years ago .
It was like walking a different dog .
She didn’t particularly like it but it worked and with use she will get used to it.

The nose band fits nicely on the the nose without pushing the hair up into the eyes. I like how the lead can be attached behind the head instead of under the chin seen in other headcollars. This headcollar is easy to put on and makes walks enjoyable. Before the head collar our dog was pull and choke, this removes all of that. She now walks beautifully on lead.
Collar does not stretch which is good. very easy to use, dog is much better behaved and can even walk on the collar after a run in the park and he is tired. Marked improvement to halte which he still managed to pull with.
It helps with pulling and barking too! However my puppy still pulls so I would say it reduces the pulling by 70%. It’s easy to fit too. Better and stronger than other products
Great tool. This does exactly what we want. It stops my dog pulling or when he does very easy corrections. We are using it while training his heel, to make his walks easier. Obviously heel training takes time, so in the mean time this great way to go for long walks without feeling like I spent last 2/3 hours in the gym.
I think this is really good as a training aid, rather than a full solution. With that in mind I love this product, my dog is a large golden retriever and he loves to pull. The first time wearing this was like night and day, he simply couldn’t pull. At all. He doesn’t like it though so we are training him to get used to it. But I don’t have to worry about him pulling me along the sides of roads anymore. Plus no embarrassing looks from other walkers from when he pulled like crazy on the harness or choked himself gasping with just the neck collar.
Fab product.
I was looking for a way to stop my dog pulling and this was recommended by a friend. I was dubious but it actually does work and my dog doesn’t attempt to take it off either. Very pleased.
This beats the Hilti I tried first, and the dog don’t run a mile and hide up when I pick it up, like some other harness I’ve tried… this Canny collar works well.
I would say that it is not easy to use with little instructions but I finally worked it out and I must say it certainly makes my dog behave well on the lead. With a dog weighing under 6 stone of pure muscle the pulling was killing my arms but that has all gone when using this lead. The only thing is my dog fights to get it off but I guess that will stop over time.
I have a 40 kg, 6 month old Leonberger puppy. Once she got to around 4 months, no matter what we tried, she pulled like a train. Once she got to 5 months, I stopped taking her out because it was too dangerous. I genuinely cried sometimes because I have a dog I really love but just could not walk her. She lurched at strangers, she dragged me down the street. Indoors she pretty much obeys every command. Outside she turns into a deaf 40kg dangerous to us and herself, embarrassment. In truth we only got away with her leaping on strangers for so long because she is a puppy and most people knew her from 8 weeks. Obviously most people know her because we never took her more than 10 minutes without giving up. I fought against any kind of head collar; hate the idea. Eventually, when even other half struggled to take her and he is fairly strong and even he was making excuses not to, I caved in. The first two weeks were traumatic, obviously she hated it, why wouldn’t she? It slipped off, until we learned the technique for keeping it on. Now it never comes off. Today I came back, for the first time from a 30 minute pleasurable walk. All I can say is, if you have tried every training method you can google and it hasn’t worked, then do try a head collar. No matter how much you hate the idea, it’s better than not enjoying taking your dog out. I actually think she enjoys her walk more now, even though she can’t do exactly what she wants; probably because we are relaxed now taking her. Downside, yes it is a bit fiddly to get on but after 3 weeks or so, we can now put it on her within seconds.
Well, this is the best thing I have ever purchased. It’s has transformed my dog from a kangaroo on the lead to a calm well behaved dog. The first time we used it he was a bit unsure but we achieved loose lead walking for the first time ever. I’ve never left a review on a product before because it’s well effort but I’m so impressed by this product. In short it’s totally amazing. I couldn’t be more pleased.
This is so great! I have 5 months old puppy doberman and she was uncontrollable, pulling and actually walking me. But now, sorry my lil princesses mummy is back to control.
Thank you!!!!
Fantastic coller I’ve tried the figure of 8 and the halti bot never helped, I’ve got a springer and a springador and couldn’t walk them by myself before was like a competition who could pull the hardest. Now walking is so easy with them both, my springador does try get it off his nose now and again but sure he’ll get used to it soon enough.. If your dogs pulls this is a Must, I found with the halti it hurt my dogs when they pulled but this is so much kinder on them. Win wi
It’s easy to put on, but my dog hates it didn’t use i
I am so amazed how quick this works, i didnt like walking my sprocker as i would be dragged by him and i have bad knees however the moment i put this on him he walked lovely. The collar is nice and thick its also very easy to use.
from the first time i used it i was easily able to hold my lab, he simply cannot pull and is now a pleasure to walk. thank yoi.
This is ideal for puppies and dogs that pull on there leads whilst walking. My only advise would be to keep it away from your dog when not using it as ours has nearly chewed through hers!
Wish we had found this product 12 months earlier, first use and our dog was like a different dog,can truthfully recommend this product to anyone, brilliant results almost immediately.
Used today on my 5 month Doberman. She Had become almost impossibly difficult to walk. Pulling and jumping . Difference was instant and amazing and I feel that my teenage kids and wife will now be able to also walk her. First walk was a 70% success and later walk today more like a 90%. Doberman’s are incredibly intelligent and they know they are beat when this is on them. Although they will always try and take it off…Highly recommended and saved the day.
Excellent product, we tried every collar and lead to try and stop our lab from pulling our arms off and dragging us about and nothing worked at all until the canny collar,it was instant,he’s like a different dog can’t recommend it enough best 20 quid you’ll spend . Hats off to Brian Smith R.I.P
Pretty simple to use but my dog kept slipping himself out of it! Definately does the job though if it would stay on!
Was sceptical about this as I didn’t think there was anything that would make going for a walk enjoyable. Our my constantly pulled and was almost unmanageable. The first use of this collar showed that it was exactly what we needed. Worked absolute wonders on out Belgian malinois!
It’s a pleasure to go walking, no pulling, although she doesn’t like it over her nose , I’m sure she’ll get used to it in time . It a bit fiddly to put on but again I’m sure I’ll get the knack.
I don’t normally do reviews but I can’t recommend this enough! I only received the collar yesterday but already my headstrong pointer is walking by my side and not pulling!! I can now look forward to walking with my dog rather that dreading them.
Having used the gentle leader for many months, I was worried about the damage I might cause to my German Shepherds neck and spine when she tried to chase a cat with me restraining her. Having read reviews on the gentle leader, one review said the canny collar worked differently. I resourced it and purchased it.
I have to say I have used it 4 times and its a pleasure to walk with.
My dog enjoys her walk and I do, feeling happier that I have control without hurting her.
EXCELLENT!
Seems to fit my spaniel well but not as good as a halti for dog feeling my movement. However, it is more comfy for my dog to pant and she likes to stick her tongue out and can do this with the Canny collar.
I bought this for a large dog which continually pulled, the owner calls it ‘a miracle’. The transformation was remarkable, the dog is now easier to walk and doesnt pull as much, in time I have confidence that he will stop pulling altogether, as I have got one for my German Shepherd who also pulled but now doesnt, making walking enjoyable for both of us.
Hard to fasten. Helps with a dog that pulls on a lead .
My Bearded Collie loves everyone. To the extent that he would pull me off my feet to give whoever he met a leap up resounding welcome. A bit unnerving for the recipient! With the canny collar he can now wait to be invited, at a sit, and will keep all four paws on the ground. Brilliant!
Doesn’t completely stop pulling ,but certainly helps. Bit of a fuss to put on otherwise great quality product, machine washable. They get use to wearing them.
As a well practised sceptic, I thought I’d give this a go as a last resort, hoping for the best, but expecting the worst, as my shoulders and knees were telling me, “enough is enough!”
Well, well, well!! After fitting it (straight forward enough), a litlle practice walk around the garden and 5 minutes of him getting used to it, I went for a walk around the block. It’s like having a different dog!! Unbelievable difference!
Now hopefully my days of constant painful shoulders and knees may be over – and the dog has a stay of execution!!
P.S. Anyone got any ideas for recall?!! 🙂
Was recommended this because my dog pulls so much he pulled me over. Been using it about a month, wow what a difference. He doesn’t like it much but I love it.
From a dog that pulled every time i took him out (daily) stopped pulling straight away with this on, so easy to walk him now, a bit awkward to put on to start with but found it got easier the more i used it. Excellent product and i am going to get another one for my other dog, a 3 1/2 stone collie cross.
Works amazingly, have to have the lead really short but it stops the pulling straight away! First thing that has finally worked! Doesnt seem to rub his face either unlike alot of non pull harnesses.
Total game changer. We have an 11 month collie x gsd x black bear, utter nightmare to walk on lead with his rather nervous collie x springer mate. Pulled my arms out when seeing people and other dogs. Put this on and he’s a total pleasure to walk. It’s so easy to use. He will try and pull it off his nose but if you get the right collar size it ain’t going nowhere. I bought the size to big which he will grow into, adapted it into a martingale with his harness and it still worked. Smaller size and all sorted. My arms are no longer killing me.
Collar works. Stops dog pulling. She doesn’t like it and it’s fiddly to use without lead.
I’ve never written any review before but I’m so impressed with this product I wanted to share the positive response I had from my puppy. He’s a 5 month old cockapoo who wanted to pull and tug all the time. Verbal training didn’t work. It took a few minutes to work out the fitting instructions but eventually worked it out. First time I walked puppy up and down the road he wasn’t impressed. Second walk that evening was just brilliant, after one or two pulls, he completely changed and walked by my side and was a joy to walk.
Bought this for my puppy to try to stop him pulling. Effective immediately. He walks nicely by my side now. Unlike other head collars I’ve used, this doesn’t leave a mark across the dogs face. Therefore I believe it must be more comfortable for the dog. When I let him off lead, I have to wind the slip lines around his neck and secure them with a clip provided. This is awkward as I have arthritis in my hands. That’s the only down side. I’m more than happy with it overall and would definitely recommend
This collate is easy to use and appears to be more comfortable for my dog. We had a halti before this and the halti appeared to restrict her mouth movements but with the Canny Collar she is fine.
She still wants to get it off but relaxes quite well with it on and it does help prevent her pulling so much
Our dog has always pulled and whilst this is not a magic instant solution it is certainly a lot easier than before!
She didn’t like it st first and kept trying to remove it with her paws but got used to it after about 5 walks with it.
Make sure you use it for training a dog to walk beside you rather than letting them wander about all over the place. Also note that the plastic buckle goes under the chin, not on the nose!
I had tried so many different ways to stop Bonnie pulling, she’s very headstrong & determined. She hadn’t had a lot of lead training when I rescued her. The first time I put it on I was walking round the park with tears in my eyes. Sounds stupid I know but that’s how it made me feel!! It’s fantastic. Bonnie doesn’t like it tho she tries to get it off because she can’t do what she wants
This seems to be a good quality product but unfortunately our gsd gets more stressed because she feels restricted. We will keep trying and rewarding her because it certainly does reduce the pull
This fits ok, and stops pulling, but does slip off my dog’s nose quite frequently, if he lowers his head. I will keep trying!
Very pleased with the collar. My dog pulled me over earlier in the year when chasing a fox & broke my shoulder in 3 places. I wish I’d known of this collar earlier as he doesn’t pull when wearing it. I honestly can’t praise it enough!
Purchased for my large American bulldog pup who is 5 stone works but she still manages to pull on it.
Lily does not particularly like this collar but it has stopped her pulling when walking on the lead. She can get it off her nose easily but once walking it is quite secure. Can be a little fiddly when letting her run off the lead as often she is impatient to go while I am trying to fasten it round her neck. But I would recommend this to anyone who has a strong dog who pulls. Added bonus to be able to get it in purple!!!!
Very pleased so far. Seems comfortable for him to wear. No snorting due to pressure on nose as with his figure of 8 lead, which was dreadful to listen to while out walking. Only been using couple of days but shall continue and will be buying another one for our other boy as he pulls on occasions
he nose strap is attached to a proper collar so if your dog does slip his nose out you still have control
Absolutely amazing collar!! I never do reviews but had to for this! We were about to pay out a fortune in dog training for our huge 1 year old lab who was pulling me half way down the road every day and I really had no control over over him when he saw other dogs or people! This collar was like Magic! It instantly worked. He walks by my heel now and I could walk him for hours…. Occasionally if he tries to paw it off I just give him a treat but he after a week he doesn’t bother trying to get it off now… We just enjoy our walks.
Excellent for large dogs, made a significant difference to walking our Great Danes. My dogs had some initial dislike to it, but I can see the huge potential in it supporting a good and easy walk for these giant pooches.
I don’t write reviews, but I felt I needed to with this because purchasing one (well two) of these collars has made a real difference to us enjoying our much loved walks.
Had one previously for my Weimaraner but now it’s a cocker spaniel think the nose band should have a bit of softening to it but by far the best collor you can buy we use it with a harness attached so just need to move finger forward slightly to give a little movement on double ended lead so he’s not really always on the canny collar slightest correction is all that is needed
Definitely helps control the pulling – our rescue is a big puller and the Canny has helped to keep her more under control than most collars and braces we have tried. Still puts pressure under her eye, but not as much as the head-harness style we previously had. It agitates her less too.
Considering trying it on our other dog now too to see if it assists with his pulling, which has got worse.
I’ve tried many different ways to stop pulling over the years & I have to say that this was far & away the best solution I’ve used.
Unlike similar collars that pull the head to one side due to the way it connects, this one helps you remain in control at all times.
Quality of product is exceptional in terms of stitching & materials.
After a week of using on one dog, I purchased a second collar for my other dog with similar impressive results.
Highly recommend.
Amazing product … something that actually works on my 11 month old 40kg American bull dog x. I can now take him for a walk on my own …. I can take him didn’t think I’d ever get to say that. Don’t get me wrong he still isn’t keen on wearing it if we go on a field and he wants to be off he floor drops and rolls around but on the pathway/street this has given me the control.
Best buy ever! A joy to walk my collie now. No more lunging at cars at the risk of taking my shoulder with him. Wasn’t at all sure if he’d accept the collar as he was 4 years old, but it wasn’t a problem at all, a little distracting was all that was needed.
Also have one for my huntaway. He’s a big strong lad, and the collar gives me so much control, I couldn’t stop him otherwise. He is much more prone to trying to get it off his nose, but he’s only 9 months so I’m sure he’ll settle with it.
I do not think I have ever given a 5 star rating so this is an exception. I have two dogs one of whom always pulls. Read reviews for Canny Collar. Yes he took it off his nose and “laughed” having done so. First time he rolled on the ground to try and take it off as per another review but realised after a few seconds that it was futile. They both quite happily have collar put on and now walk without pulling. Have recommended this collar to other people I know who have dogs who pull. Yes it does actually work within five minutes
I was doubtful if this collar would stop our lovely golden retriever from pulling. She was not raised on a lead and is a strong girl.
Until we bought this collar walking on a lead was a trial for us and our dog. The collar works really well and even a child was able to walk her with it. She does get a little irritated with the strap on her nose and tries to paw it off. But with encouragement and practice small sure she will get used to it.
Bought this for a lively dog who barks a fair bit when walking on lead. I felt the lunging made the barking worse so I reasoned that by preventing the lunging would calm him enough to reduce the barking. It worked! It doesn’t stop all the barking but it’s a darn sight better plus he walks better. Together with distraction techniques we’re working on him! It’s a lot kinder than a Halti which sadly rubbed his little face…after only a couple of uses.
What a difference this makes, ive got an old English sheepdog who’s just turned 1, he’s very strong can pull you off your feet, I’ve tried the Julius harness which is great ,but he still pulls, got a chicken and still strong with that on,its still early days with this collar but it really is good, hes not keen getting it on but we’re getting there, you don’t feel him pull at all, just a gentle pull and he stops, so glad I got it.
AMAZING !!!!
Far superior than a halti. My dogs hated the haltis with a passion and would fight the entire walk to get them off . If didn’t help that they pull from underneath and myjack Russel could chew through them.
These are different they pull from behind the head you can also take take the nose retrain and wrap it around collar so not muzzle the entire time only when you want it so . HIGHLY RECOMMEND MADE MY WALK 100% more pleasurable
Abit fiddly to get on (but I do have 2 dogs that loves their walks so much, they can’t wait.) I’ve found this product and size to be good, but hasn’t stopped the pulling, eased it but it’s a work in progress (1 dog yes, 2nd dog definitly work in progress.)
Great colour , I bought size 4 from shop for my gsd used it but really to small , so bought this one thinking I would get a size 6 just in case , should have got a size 5 , you live and learn , so if you have a gsd with a big mane i would go for a 5 , the 6 is ok round neck but straps a bit long , having bought many collars like theses in the past the canny collar is by far the best , Thank you
It’s normally a chore to walk my gsd x and when I get him my back and shoulders ache he pulls so much. Then my Canny Collar arrived, as soon as I tried it on him he lay down. I have just got back from a test run with the collar and OMG it was a joy to be out with him, at points the lead was even a little slack, he did paw at it a bit but I’m sure he will soon get used to it if it means he now gets more frequent/longer walks. Now I’m considering getting my Jack Russell a Canny to see if it can work its magic with her.
Great improvement on the halti I have been using. So delighted that I immediately ordered another one for my other dog. He was so anti the halti that he kept pulling it off and I would find that he had got the whole thing off. Not a good thing when walking the streets. This Canny collar is great because although he can get the nose band off, I still have him under control through the collar. Also overall I have more control over him, no more pulling me which in turn puts my back out. Certainly to be recommended. I have tried the rest, now I’ve got the BEST
Dog hates this and on grass tries his best to push off, but on concrete paths he walks amazingly.
The difference is amazing. I take it off and he jumps pulls.
We walk a lot on paths, so I’m hoping he’ll forget about it, when grass comes!
Found instructions were just pictures, not very detailed, or any English writing in detail,
(Its not just plug in and it works)
So someone like my mum, on her own would have struggled.
I set box up,
it does make a difference though. Since using we no longer have streaming issues upstairs (modem downstairs)
As long as you know your WiFi passwords and have a bit of patience it works.
I 'ummed and arred' about buying this product for months as I thought it would just be another product that didn't work. How wrong I was – I only wish I had bought it sooner. It's actually a pleasure now to walk my dog on the lead, where as previously I had dreaded on lead walkers! I have total control now and don't fear being dragged down the road when my dog sees something that catches her attention! I take her for the walk now, rather than her taking me! It's now enjoyable and not exhausting!
In a word this collar is amazing. We have a very powerful Rottie who loves to rush over to other dogs when out for a walk even if the other dog is on the other side of the road. We’ve tried every collar and harness under the sun but this is the only one that works. It’s transformed our walks and she loves them all the more.
I like this, my dog hates it. I can’t say if it works or not as I couldn’t get my dog out of the front door with it on, however, my friend managed to succeed with her dog and she says it really does work and is much kinder than the halti as it does not pull the dogs head to one side.
Meanwhile my difficult spoilt brat is back in her harness. Ho hum.
lovely strong well made collar but unfortunately didnt work 4 me my dog kept doing crocodile role he hated it…could do with some sort of clasp 2 hold the back 2 straps closed closer 2 back of kneck 2 prevent him pulling his head backwards & out of it….we walked so far fine then he kept putting his head backwards so straps come over his face..then started rolling on floor….like a croc…mind you hes only 6months old…
My little Scottie is so well behaved when wearing the collar….no lunging at cats, squirrels and some other dogs….he walks well on his normal collar but this is great when I know there will be lots of dogs and other furries around…..it also takes the strain out of my back as a sudden lunge can cause problems..I had no problems when I first tried it on him,as a treat to reward him worked well ..as its not really tight on his nose I don’t think he can feel it with his Scottie beardexcept when he lunges…would recommend.
This is the best head collar we have bought yet. We rescued our 2 year old Corgi/Collie cross in April and immediately knew she was a puller. We’ve tired various head collars(halti) and harnesses(julius K9) with varying degrees of success, but this is by far the best of them all! Only wish we’d heard about it months ago!!
So far we’ve used it on three walks and immediately the difference was noticeable. At last no more pulling!!! The dog even looks more comfortable as it’s not pulling the lead past the side of her face.
I’d recommend this product to anyone who has a dog that pulls!!
Does the job and stopped our springer pulling like a tank! Only real issue was getting him used to the collar as he kept spinning around trying to get it off as bot uses to it. I have stopped using the collar as in the end he kept scratching to get it off his nose that bad he made it bead and kept opening up the cut everyday, but he does walk a lot better now even without it on so it has made some sort of impact on our 13 month old springe
We already had the Halti collar as our dog pulls (our arms out of joints!) but I was getting a bit fed up with with the design (it dangles UNDERNEATH the head) and he was constantly lifting up both paws to try to remove it as he wasn’t happy (usually whilst crossing the road) …so after 6 months of the Halti, I decided to try the Canny – the design is so much better as the excess reins are above the head and he doesn’t seem remotely bothered by the strap across his nose. It’s a bit fiddly at first (but so was the Halti) but I like the way the straps can be wrapped around the neck for off-lead running around, rather than having to remove completely (as you do with the Halti) So, so far this is considerably better than the Halti (even my husband agrees) and I would recommend this wholeheartedly…
I bought this for another dog as already had one. The buckle underneath seems to be far looser than the last one so the dog gets it off literally as soon as I stop walking. That said, it is still far better as stopping my husky x GSD pulling than all others. I was using a halty for that dog but it was putting pressure in his eye so would certainly but this over a halty
we bought this for the first time when on holiday in keswick. it is better than halti as it doesn,t rise up near dogs eyes .having said this the previous canny did have a part that snapped after a few months. i still think its a good collar for a very lively lab who pulled when out walking. it is now much more pleasant taking dog out without constant pulling on your neck & shoulders. it arrived quickly by pos
It does work well, when its on but it comes off easily, they can push if off if the lead goes slack but if you keep the lead tight you will have a pleasant walk. I have a crossed malamute/husky so can recommend it without hesitation as its the first “stop pulling” collar/harness/lead that actually works.
Can’t fault the collar. It is really well made and I expect it will last a lifetime. However, if you have the kind of dog I do they will slip it off their nose. I will try again though, maybe there is a knack to using it. It’s not too expensive so it’s worth a go at least.
Absolutely love this. can now walk my GSD in public. I attend training classes with my GSD and sh is very good in class but to take her out at home sometimes is a nightmare. She was born in a animal rescue centre and stayed there for 5 months and in that time she learnt to bark at every dog she saw. The canny collar keeps her more under control and she doesnt bark as much. Would highly recommend this product. You just need to get it positiioned correctly on the dog.
My daughter works at a animal rescue and she uses them on all the large dogs.
Have bought 2 of these now. If you have a whippet I would recommend the size 1. Brother and sister whippets Juno and Jake aged 4 were a nightmare on walks, pulling, barking at other dogs, lunging at any cat they came across. The first time I used the collar I took them out seperately. Now I can take them out together and enjoy walks that I used to dread! Have used the collars for abojt 4 weeks now and they walk nicely , although not at heel, they don’t pull at all. Also has helped with the barking at other dogs. They just accept I am in control now! I know these may not work for everybody but if you have the same problems I had, give it a try. Like I said the size 2 was a little too large on the whippet and I now have the size 1. Perfect!
It was pretty straightforward to establish what size collar was needed and the ordering was no problem. It arrived as predicted in good condition. The instructions were clear and it didn’t take long to work out how to use it. We’ve had time to try to fit it once so far as we’ve only had it a couple of days. He didn’t like the strap over his nose, dropped back and pushed it off. (This does not mean the dog is free. The lead is still attached to the collar). We shall persevere as it looks to be the ideal solution to prevent pulling on the lead.
I have been using a halti on my German Shepherd for the last couple of years but found that he could still pull quite strongly when he was determined enough. I bought the Canny Collar just to see if it was any good and I love it, I have so much more control over my dog because the lead clips on behind the head instead of under the chin pulling the nose down towards his chest instead of to the side like the halti does. I would recommend this to anyone who has a large strong breed of dog to give Piece of mind that you have control It would probably help stop dogs who pull quite a lot as well.
Used a canny collar for 3 years now just replace the last one… They are a godsend ,as soon as the nose band goes on it’s like I am walking someone else’s dog..the pulling stops and he walks lovely…i am glad to see clearer instructions enclosed with my new collar as for the first few months I was using it wrong and had the yellow tab over his nose and not under the chin, this made all the difference. .. It doesn’t cut into his face/ eyes like some do.. I would recommend the collar to any dog owner and have also stopped people in the street that have been using it wrong, the only niggle I would have is that there is not much choice in colours/ patterns .maybe some fun designs and bright colours…

The Canny Collar works and really stops my dog pulling on the lead. She didn’t like it at first and kept trying to get it off by rubbing her muzzle along the ground but quite quickly she stopped doing that and accepted it. It is a slightly different style of walking with this collar and I too had to get used to a slightly different way of leading her with it but it didn’t take long for both of us to get the hang of it and it definitely works.
Love this product – I have a 1 yr old labradoodle (labradoodle owners will know this stage is hell!), I put it on and I have to admit he was scratching at it a few times but it worked instantly!. Seems the most humane way of getting him controlled, pull the lead and that’s like a break to the dog. Seems more relaxed and plus I don’t like the idea of using a choke chain to strangle my dog. Also something that surprised me is the quality..very good and very STRONG!!!.
We love our doodle dog and we are not wimps but he weighs 45 kilos and is a (gentle)strong giant!
This is a simple solution with 2 options on one collar.he does not have the nose restraint part on much but it is used when we want close control. He is not keen on it but quickly adapted with a bit of patience. It is easy to take the nose bit off and revert to normal type of lead .This is the second purchase as the eyelet frayed lose after about a year.It is worth every penny to us though!
I have a really strong Border Collie and have tried various head collars and harnesses. Without a doubt the Canny collar works the best and he doesn’t seem to mind wearing it. I like the way that his head doesn’t get pulled to one side when he pulls as happens with other head collars. This just arches his neck and he stops pulling. The only thing I would change would be not having a buckle to do up and have a clip instead, I find it a bit awkward ,especially this time of year having to remove gloves and hold on to my other dog as well. Apart from that small criticism, I really like the Canny collar.
I’ve been using the collar for a few weeks now and our dog seems happier wearing it than her old non pull collar as it doesn’t pull her head round to one side. It is effective in stopping her from pulling. The only downside is it is a bit fiddly attaching and unattaching the straps round her neck when letting her on and off her lead.
This is the only collar/harness that really works with my German Shepherds. I find i can control them easily, without constant pulling and yanking and discomfort to the dog. And the two German Shepherds I have used them on respond well and seem very happy wearing them. Although they are well trained, they are constantly pulling ahead when we set off for walks, because they are so excited. And they are very strong dogs. Main word of advice though would be make sure you get the right size for your dog, as when they’re a little too big they tend to ride up over the dog’s eyes. Measure the neck carefully. One of my GSDs wears a size 4, the other a size 5, even though they are the same breed.
I’ve got 2 of these collars for my excitable Cocker Spaniels. They do NOT stop dogs from pulling, although they certainly reduce the force they can exert. The dogs do not like wearing them and will rub their faces on the floor at any opportunity (which can result in some rather dirty ears!)
They are of good quality, although the carabiners are rather flimsy and have been replaced with sturdier ones from a camping shop.
Overall, these collars are a definite help especially when my children are leading, but they are not a miracle cure for dogs pulling.
I have two dogs, both unruly little beasts, who would NOT behave on a lead. They both were of the opinion that their mission in life was to pull my arms out of their sockets. I had read about these ‘Canny Collars’ and was fairly impressed by the comments others had left about them. I bought the dogs one each, followed the instructions, fitted them to the dogs, and just could not believe the difference in them. They didn’t like them at first and tried every which way of getting them off, particularly the part that goes above the nose. This, of course, is the bit that really does the job. They have got used to them now, and I have to say, they are completely different dogs now. It is a pleasure to take them out on the leads now. I thoroughly recommend these collars.
I have a German Shepherd and have been using the Canny collar for several months. Prior to getting it I used a Halti collar. The Canny Collar is much better than the Halti collar – I find it gives me much more control and reliability (the Halti slipped off once – even though it was fitted correctly). It is easy to slip the nose section off when you want to let your dog off the lead, whilst leaving the collar itself in place – not possible with the Halti. I also used to find that the Halti rubbed a bald patch on my dog’s nose, because she pulled so much – this doesn’t happen with the Canny collar. It is well constructed and comfortable for my dog. It’s an excellent product and I highly recommend it. One word of advice – don’t connect the lead to the carabiner clips (these are for when you let your dog off lead and need to clip the nose loop out of the way) – the lead should be clipped to the D loops which the carabiner clips are attached to (this will make sense if you get the collar). I accidentally connected the lead to the carabiner clips once and the lead came off (breaking the clip in the process).
