A bit noisy but v easy to use. Looks lovely too. All recipes need much longer churning than in the recipie booklet but they are worth the wait.
Very very good ice cream maker. Significantly better than my previous one (which had the usual turning paddle arrangement) – makes more ice cream and better, creamier, quality. Robust and straightforward to use. I cannot see why anyone would buy an expensive ice cream maker with a built in chiller when this works so well
Made ice cream that was delicious, didn’t think it was too loud and didn’t struggle when the ice cream got thick.
A little noisy but otherwise very pleased with the icecream produced and smart design of the maker.
his is the best ice cream machine on the market it makes simply the best creamy delicious ice cream I have ever tasted no more shop bought for me .thank you
Simplicity itself to use. No complicated settings and no fiddly parts. Easy to clean. Oh and it makes fabulous silky smooth icecream!
Great addition to my kitchen love it what more can i say .
Just love it!Making ice cream is piece of cake!
Arrived today and so far so good!! Summer fruit ice cream was the order of the day!
Makes really nice ice cream. Much better than shop bought.
Brilliant! I’ve only made vanilla, strawberry & mint choc chip, but delicious!!
Class ice cream maker makes really nice ice cream really worth buying
Makes great ice cream which tastes far better than shop bought. You also know what’s gone into to it.
As some reviews have said it’s a little noisy, however it only run for around 25 minutes and I just close the kitchen door.
Good price and prompt delivery.
Won’t be buying ice cream from the shops any longer.
Makes great ice cream and ice desserts. Fits my freezer drawer which was my biggest problem when looking to buy such an item.
Best ice cream maker ever, I had 2 others before this one and this is the best. I made my first batch of ice cream today and found it delicious. Highly recommended.
Received the machine yesterday and washed the bowl and put it in the freezer. My freezer is quite small and really packed so I left it in for about 20 hours to make sure it was nice and cold – and it really was! I used it to make peanut butter sorbet. My mix was about 750g and quite thick – more like yogurt/toffee rather than slush – and I cooled it in the fridge for about 15′ before pouring it in the machine. I took the bowl out of the freezer last minute and put the machine together in seconds – so very easy!
I switched it on. Then I poured in the mix – very clean job through the opening on the top.
And then there was noise. Lots of it. My drill is not that loud. I certainly would not have it in the same room I was having dinner. But knowing it was only going to be for about 30′ I got on with things like washing up and making a delicious hot chocolate topping and by the time I was used to it the sorbet was ready! I covered it with a clean tea towel to make sure nothing flew in through the opening. Part of me hoped the tea towel would cover the noise as well but it didn’t.
So after about 25-30′ my mix was nicely churned – perhaps a little over-churned for the paddle. The paddle is plastic and therefore not the sturdiest of things so you need to keep an eye on the time and make sure you don’t let it over-cool. If you do, I found out, it makes it hard to pull the paddle out and it feels like it might break. I was very careful so it was ok but next time I’ll get my sorbet out a minute earlier. I put the sorbet in a little container that I stored in the freezer to get a bit harder. I could have served a couple of portions straight away because the the mix that was at the bottom of the bowl was really nice and hard and didn’t need to go in the freezer. But I’m the kind of cook that nibbles as she cooks so by the time food is ready I’m already full.
Would I recommend it? Yes, definitely. Good value for the price range and 5 years guarantee. Go for it!
I have a long list of flavours they don’t sell at the supermarket I look forward to making this summer!
Excellent for making ice cream at home. Makes 1.5 litre ice cream every time without fail. Regularly make Ben and Jerry ice cream. Highly recommended.
Only recently received so only used it once so far. Great machine, nicely made, easy to store and very nice ice cream. Since I live on my own there is only so much ice cream one can eat but I look forward to experimenting. Well worth it.
Smooth silky healthy ice cream. What more can I say?
Makes great ice cream. some mixture dose freeze to the sides but worth i
Makes perfect Ice Cream so easy to use, far better than any of the up market ice creams you can purchase
A good strong machine. Particularly like the fact that the bowl turns instead of the arm. My only problem is that you get so much solid frozen ice cream around the edge at the finish. This seems such a waste of the beautiful ingredients. I did manage to scrape some off but of course the consistency is not as light. It still tasted good though. I have only used the machine twice so far. I would advise getting a good recipe, I found that adding eggs to the mix made a big difference to the creaminess of the ice cream.
But noisy but does the job quite well, priced competitively and easy to clean.
excellent machine does all what is required but must empathise the need to fully freeze the tub for best finish in productio
So easy to use- this machine blows away any mystique surrounding ice cream making! It produces delicious result every time if you follow the simple instructions. A good buy!!!
Best ice cream maker ever . makes the most delicious grapenut ice cream .I can only get that flavour in Jamaica. But now I get to make my own. Really love this machine. And it so easy to use.
Use it with my Ben & Jerry’s Ice cream book and everything has come out delicious so far.
Ice cream was lovely. Glad I bought this item after much research. Cannot complain.
This is a great product, easily cleaned and easy to use. Bought as a gift, my daughter loves it!!
So far utterly delighted with my ice cream maker and it feels like I’ve bought a serious piece of kitchen kit. Previously owned a magimix ice cream maker so am already aware of the delights of home made ice creams and sorbets. I prefer this to the magimix because the bowl rather than the blade rotates so it doesn’t sound like the engine is having to work hard (as the magimix could do sometimes) and the opening through which you pour your prepared mix is a good size. The build quality seems very solid and I like their confidence in giving a 5 year warranty.
Makes the best icecream. Only thing would make it even better is if the tub for freezing had a lid.
I’ll start out by saying that there are very few commercial ice creams that I like eating, and mostly I wouldn’t even bother with them thinking that I just didn’t really like ice cream in general. I mainly bought this machine so that I could make sorbets and frozen yoghurt rather than ice creams. However, having made a few vanilla and toffee ice creams mainly for my partner, I can safely say that home made ice cream is far superior to pretty much anything you can get in the supermarket – I’m a total convert. What’s just as fantastic is that you can make pretty much any flavour you fancy – a huge bonus considering that supermarket ranges are so limited (to my tastes at least, whether it’s ice cream, sorbet or frozen yoghurt), and you can vary the recipe to make them healthier if you want by using semi skimmed milk instead of full fat, etc.
As others have said, the bowl is quite big, so deep freezer drawer is required if you’ve got an upright, and the machine is also reasonably noisy but as it only churns for about 1/2 hour and the result is so delicious this doesn’t bother me at all. I would recommend getting some strong silicone ‘scrapers’ to ensure you can scrape the ice cream from the sides to mix in without scratching the bowl, asi found that plastic utensils were not quite good enough or strong enough for this purpose.
A fantastic purchase and one I wouldn’t be without, especially during summer!
This ice cream maker is cheap and does the job. Only downside is that the machine makes a bit of noise.
Bought this as a christmas present and it was very much appreciated. The only downside is that you need to make sure that the container will fit into the freezer drawers as it is quite large.
Bought this item for my husband, really pleased with it so easy and quick and ice cream is one of the best we have tasted+++
I am happy with this. I didn’t think the holding capacity was so low but otherwise it is an excellent product.
Very satisfied .makes perfect icecream.post reliable.also srtived on time
Makes excellent ice cream. Unlike like other models where the handle rotates, the base unit rotates – this means it does not jam against the side.
Love it. Makes great iced yoghurt (not made ice cream, yet). Easy to use. Good results.
Bought for my mother as a present. She loves it and it makes marvellous ice-cream. She uses it all the time. Worth the extra money over cheaper, less reliable, models.
Easy to use and makes lovely ice cream. Much quicker than a much more expensive machine I had previously. Noisy but just close the door!
Really pleased with this ice cream maker. I read all of the reviews carefully before buying and yes, it’s noisy (but not as noisy as my K Mix mixer), but it’s only for 20-30 mins & the trick is to go & do something else while it’s churning. The ice cream is wonderful & my family love it. I made mint choc chip first using a recipe out of the book which was really nice – much much better than shop bought. My second attempt was strawberry, I pured some strawberries & chilled overnight. Then added to a creme fraishe recipe and disaster, it all stuck to the side! I didn’t want to waste the lovely strawberries, so left it to thaw, scraped it out, stuck it back in the fridge, then found another recipe which added milk, churned again next day when tub had refrozen & it was the best strawberry ice cream we’ve ever tasted! Sometimes if it doesn’t work, its just a case of giving it another go. Next weekend it’s vanilla & choc fudge, ready for teenagers birthday party!
Bought for my in laws to give to my daughter so not sure what it’s like, the price was reasonable though
Excellent apparel. Ice cream every day! I shall never regret it. I’ve always wanted to know the quality of all ingredients.
its tooo big but it does nice ice cream , i dont know what else to say but good one to ge
Very pleased with the results of the ice cream…noisy yes but they all are because they need a good motor to churn the ice cream for twenty minutes. It is much better than my last one which was round about the same price . Made some of the recipes from the Cuisinart booklet that comes with the machine and they have turn out lovely.
Looks very nice in the kitchen. VERY noisy! But good icecream. Have used it a lot. But make sure you have a good freezer, as you need a good working freezer to get the bowl cold enough.
A nice home appliance that does the work. Makes a nice ice cream in 30 ~ 35 minutes.
Cons: It could be a little sile
This Ice cream maker has fully lived up to my expektations.
It makes Ice using only 20 min.
So for Ice makeing this is highly rekomandeble
Makes great ice cream. Tried cheaper others but this is the dogs take it from me,.ITS VERY GOOD FOR PRICE
Purchased to make ice cream with surplus soft fruit last summer.
I find that this is more effective than some of the cheaper solutions at making batches of ice cream.
It is very noisy but does seem to be powerful at churning. All in all I have made some great ice creams and will be using this again this summer.
The only downside is that you do need large freezer drawers (height wise) or a chest freezer to use the device.
I think it’s a good gift. My mom loved it 🙂 She tried it the next day and enjoyed the ice cream.
I’m a massive Ice cream fan so had to get one of these, and I’m glad I did.
Need to prep the bucket in the freezer for at least 12 hours before you make the ice cream. Actually found that leaving it in there longer than this makes it work better, I tend to leave it in there for at least a day before I use it.
If I want to pipe the ice cream into cones I tend to pop the bucket back in the freezer for 30min after churning it just to firm it up a bit more as it melts very fast when trying to get into the piping bags so needs to be a bit more frozen than this can achieve, but again I think room temp is a big factor in how well this works.
Cleaning is very easy as it all comes apart and two of the three bits that ever need cleaning can go in the dishwasher.
its amazing even has some good basic recipe’s In it which was good, I have only used it twice and so still getting to grips with it but am loving it so far. the only thing I have found is its difficult to get the ice cream to freeze and im finding its taking about 2 hours in the freezer after it being in the machine but like I said im still trying to get the hang of i
Fantastic purchase although I am sure that I am at least two sizes bigger than before the purchase lol
Everyone should have one.
Makes the most wonderful ice-cream.
Easy to clean! It is big but not heavy and it is noisy but its only on for about 30 mins and you get enough ice-cream for a week ! Theres only 2 of us now!
You can make any flavour. Just experiment!
All you need is your basic vanilla recipe and go from there!
The only downside is and has nothing to do with the machine is that its very fattening!!!!
we never buy ice cream any moor now as we can make any flaver any time now as and when i want to
easy to use, clean and store. I have been very happy with my purchase and made 5 different types of custard based ice cream since purchasing it. Not been disappointed once!
Really good icecream maker and I would recommend it to others . It arrived promptly and was well packaged. A little noisy but i guess this is reflected in the price
i make perfect ice cream for my family using goats milk from my neighbors goat and it is absolutely creamy and delicious!
even the recipes from the booklet are successful!!
i do recommend this machine!!
My husband says this is one of the best things I have bought for the kitchen! As many people have said it is noisy but we shut the door and sit elsewhere in the house and I have now moved it to the utility room. It’s very easy to use and very sturdy and the build quality is good. You do need a properly deep freezer drawer to store the tub but I do have one. I like that it’s quite large, I can make a six egg custard based ice cream in this machine, which give you about 1 1/2 litres in one go. There’s been at least two flavours of ice-cream available since I bought it. I can’t comment on the recipes that came with it, I haven’t tried those as I bought a separate book. The ice-cream it as made is absolutely fantastic. It does come out of the machine less firm than you initially think, particularly if you are making a larger amount but I just put it in the freezer for a while before serving.
This really does make superb ice cream & puts bought ice cream to shame.
Very simple to use & very sturdily built.
I first made strawberry ice cream which was a fantastic hit with my family & it was gone in a day.
Works very well, if a bit noisy! Real Ice-cream fans shouldn’t mind too much. Bowl is quite tall so make quite sure it will fit in your freezer – had to remove the ice-cube tray in mine to fit it in. Using it regularly as friends and family can’t get enough of the delicious stuff. Haven’t got round to experimenting with flavours yet, but it does make sorbet very well too.
I am only on my second batch of ice cream, but I am delighted with this ice cream maker. It is so easy to use. Just pour in your chilled mix and switch it on. The ice cream is velvety smooth. It’s sturdy and it’s easy to clean.
I bought this Cuisinart ICE30 ice cream maker after reading a lot a positive review and I have to say it is true, it is making a very nice ice cream, easy to use and clean.Recommended.
This is an excellent, easy to use machine. I followed the advice of the reviews here & chilled the bowl, mixer and all the ingredients then made tangerine ice cream with low fat single & double cream. It took 25 minutes to get to the right consistency- fair play it was gorgeous. Very good value & I recommend this produc
This ice cream maker is great, home made ice cream as a much better taste and I have tried so any different fruits.
Excellent product – after an extra 2 or 3 hours in the freezer the ice cream is lovely, even nicer than our local Italian dessert. It is a little noisy but you are warned of that and you can always find a job outside the kitchen for 20 minutes. The frozen yoghurt recipe is wonderful too – not quite such a strain on the waistline, but very tasty!!
Brilliant piece of kit. Yes it is loud but this just whets the appetite for the forthcoming joy of homemade ice cream. Simple instructions and great recipes included. If making the Vanilla ice cream to the included recipe try using half the vanilla extract first time and increase if needed.
This ticks all the boxes: easy to use and clean, not as noisy as some have suggested, makes a decent amount of delicious ice cream, and you’re limited only by your imagination – a great product at a very reasonable price, with the security of the Cuisinart name.
We have tried it out for 3 times before we left for the holiday and I am so satisfied with it. The first ice
cream of course failed, it didn’t get thick for some reason. The next two times it was perfectly thick and still smooth and soft. I used plain vanilla ice cream recipes and the ice cream really tasted much better than the ones from the shops. Of course it can’t beat yet the best gelatos we tried in Italy, but I’m working on it 🙂 We now start experiencing with the flavors. And the best thing is that it’s so easy, just mix some ingredients and the machine will make it ready with 30 minutes, awesome!
I am very pleased with this….it makes a nice big batch at a time and is very easy to clean. If I put the bowl in the bottom of my chest freezer it is ready to use again within a few hours, so I was able to make several batches in a day for a party. Recipes are easy to follow and a good starting point…plenty more on the internet to try out….I haven’t had a failure yet! It is so easy to use it would be great for children to have a go (under supervision) As other reviews say it is a bit noisy for the 20mins or so it takes to churn, but I have mine in the utility room so it is not a problem…I imagine most ice cream makers will be equally noisy given the job they are doing. As with other makes you need the put the ice cream into a freezer to firm up a bit before serving ( Churning almost solid ice cream would be too hard on the motor) The ice cream it makes eventually sets harder than shop bought soft scoop stuff, but this is down to the lack of additives, not the fault of the machine. You just need to remember to take it out of the freezer 15mins or so before you want to serve it.
Beautiful ice-cream, made quickly. I highly recommend it. The book comes with some recipes which I have altered slightly. My current favourite is regular chocolate icecream to which I add my favourite chocolate, Maltesers or Galaxy Ripple are great.
Can be rather noisy when it is churning, but I just close the kitchen door while it is busy working so not an issue.
If you like ice-cream, this is a more guilt free way to make it without all the ‘chemicals’ in regular ice-cream.
May 2016 Update
Two years on and my ice cream machine is still going strong, it is more expensive than some of the other makes but I haven’t had any issue with it, it still makes amazing ice cream …
After a few different recipes of gelato made successfully, this will now be a regular and very enjoyable taste experience. More gelato recipes will be tried as a result of these first experiences.
Pros:easy to use, fluffy ice cream and fast enough. Overall a good build that looks like it will last.
Cons: it is noisy.
I’ve had this in my basket for sometime now, bought it as a birthday present for myself as it had gone down in price by 24, so I thought it was bargain! Just made my first batch if vanilla ice cream using a Hugh Fernley recipe and it was lush. I don’t have trouble fitting it in my freezer either, and I do fill my freezer at all times! Fits nicely on one shelf along with a couple of other bits around it. Love the simplicity of this, it’s so easy to clean too. Happy Birthday to me! :))
Big portions of tasty frozen excellent quality and consistence now I do without effort and with pleasure. Ice cream suffices on a big family.
Produces great ice cream products. In addition to recipes supplied it produces great results using LACTOFREE products for those who have an allergy to cow’s milk
Perfect ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet etc in only 20-25 min. I would recommend it to anyone and especially to families with small children!!
Having used self freezing machine now I realise this is more than adequate for home use.
The self freeze models are expensive and not very fast at freezing.
I agree with the reviews on icecreamscience dot com which praise this ice30.
Really good quality ice cream maker. Be careful to freeze the bowl well before use and chill the ingredients, otherwise you’ll end up with something that looks like cold custard!
I bought this as a Christmas gift. It is for someone who loves frozen yogurt but finds it difficult to find them in shops, now he can make his own and try out some whacky flavours too if he wants.
This is such a noisy bit of kit but it’s so worth it for the ice cream! We use recipes from The Icecreamists book and they are divine. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Icecreamists-Creams-Recipes-Guilty-Pleasures/dp/1845337069
Pros: I made frozen yogurt and the result was fantastic..Healthier and cheaper to make it by myself, eventually.
Cons: Quite noisy while in operatio
Only one comment.Just SURERRRRRR!!!!!!!.Best price for a fantastic product. You can make delicius hand made ice cream very easy. Very simbe
I reviewed all ice cream makers and this turned out the best.
It is very noisy though but bearable
A little expensive but I think worth it because it does a good job
It’s a lovely machine and makes very yummy ice cream. Easy to use, you can try any receipe you like and try out your own.
What a fantastic machine. We love it and have already tried lots of different flavours. So easy to use and would recommend it.
If you are really into home made ice cream, this is a good middle priced machine. Without one you’d have to keep churning by hand. Its’ only problem is the noise. Otherwise, extremely quick and very simple to use.
I boght this item for a friend along with a couple of books on making ice cream. she was very happy with her present.
Superb icecream in less than 30 mins. A touch noisy but very easy to use and even easier to clean.
I’m a huge fan of ice cream and bought this as a present for my mom… I have to say the results are amazing. Much better than the shop bought artificial ice cream we get in super markets. I highly recommend this
Pros:
Value for money: its an excellent choice. End product quality is superb.
Strongly recommend.
Cons:
A bit noisy but you will forget this disadvantage when you see the end product.
I have been making ice cream at home for around 15 years using a Majimix which was given to me- thankfully it needed replacing and thanks to the reviews on amazon I found the Cuisinart- What a difference, it is so easy to use , has bigger capacity, does not fly apart when the ice cream thickens as the Majimix did, it is so much easier to pour the mixture in at the start. As has been said you need a big enough freezer to store the bowl prior to use but I find the bigger capacity a huge advantage and I urge anyone thinking of making ice cream at home so you can use fresh ingredients without additives to buy this well designed machine.
I bought this for my dad’s birthday on oct 14th. We’ve used it twice, once for vanilla and once for mint choc chip. The ic maker comes with an instruction book which includes a few basic recipes. The two we tried came out absolutely gorjuss!!
The chap at my local farm shop explained the difference between vanilla extract and vanilla essence, and having now bought the extract for the ice cream, it is easy to see why. The extract is thicker or more “vanilla-y”!
I’d definitely recommend this ice cream maker, having never used one before and being a little wary, but none of the family from 8 years old to 80 is disappointed. We’re attempting the chocolate this weekend – Sat 27 October!
I did read the reviews before purchase all of which said it was a little noisy; not that bad. I churned in the kitchen and busied myself tidying up and washing the dishes and it wasn’t bad. I would churn it away from the kitchen if i had guests, however having said that my two attempts weren’t really ready to eat and did need an hour or so in the freezer anyway.
5 star and recommendation to buy!
I have no regret for bought this product. Remember to chill your mixture before you make ice cream. This step is very important.
I am very pleased with this excellent Cuisinart ICE30 ice cream maker. Its build quality and design is superb and it makes high quality smooth texture ice cream in 25 – 30 minutes. The ice cream taste depends on the recipe and the quality of the ingredients used. It is worth paying extra to get this solid ice cream machine.
Excelent product. Very simple to use. Produces really smooth ice cream. By far, the fastest delivery I’ve ever seen (less than 24 hours for international delivery with standard delivery!!!)
Go for it!
We’ve had this machine for a year now and its still going strong. At first we thought it was expensive, but its proved itself over and over. The people who pick on niggling faults are always with us, and dont count, we all know the type. If you are in the market just now, go for this, you will not be disappointed.
I’m sure it’s a good machine: I’ve just ordered one.
But…
People comment on the large size of the bowl but no one states the measurements!
Is it going to fit in my freezer?
