Updated Review
Lovely product. Works really well.
Very nice. Does everything else well.
Honestly after initially only leaving 3 stars just like a few guys here felt the need to come back on and change the review to 5. It really is an amazing product. I’m still using it right now as I’m writing this message. It does fill the room humidity quite quick. I also have a professional expensive hygrometer installed in my room and it says it all. One thing I am worried about while leaving the 5 stars is one of the reviews where it said they could smell smoke and fire alarm went off or something like that. I will have to look into this. My personal experience though is very nice so far. I am planning to buy two more.
I like the fact you can use oil fragrance for it and it’s good that you switch the screen off which it’s still in use it’s the best humidifier I have had there isn’t nothing I don’t like about i
The sensor is way off from what the humidity actually is and the rate at which it increases is not correct at all. For example if you set the humidity setting to 85% the actual humidity will be 60/65. And it will take several hours to get to that humidity. But on humidifier it starts increasing instantly which isn’t realistic.
Aside from that it’s easy to use and does increase humidity so at least that’s good
I purchased this for my house plants a few months ago. It’s been running 24/7 since then.
I cannot fault it.
Does what it says on the box.
The features are great.
Unlike my other humidifiers I don’t find it needs cleaning as often. Cleaning can be a slightly tedious but considering I’m only doing a full clean monthly its not that big of a deal. Water capacity is great. I only need to refill a couple of times a week and its easy to fill. User friendly. Quite. Highly recommend this humidifier.
I am not trying to mislead with my 4 stars rating. This an excellent product. It looks good and have the features needed for house use with a family home but not for heavy use. Mine stopped working within short period of time but I was using a lot. If it can withstand heavy use it would be perfect because it as such good features. Improve the durability and you are on to something great.
I use it in our bedroom. It makes sleep very comfortable.
Its a decent product bit pricey for what I paid only issue I see is if you use tap water you may get alot of limescale build up, I use bottled and distilled water and still get some here and there on the top where the nozzles are other than that its a great performer nice big clouds of mist the heat function is an added bonus.
I’m returning the item due to me ordering the wrong item I thought it would clear the air but it wasn’t what I wanted I needed an dehumidifier and not a humidifier as I’ve already got an humidifier but it’s worth it’s money and it’s very easy to use
The humidifier is very eficient and worked very well for the month it lasted. Sadly, I had an issue with the heating mode of my humidifier about a month after I had been using it (honestly, not mad about it; mushaps with even the best products do happen) I was very confused as this had been a great humidifier thus far. The reason why I am giving this item 5 stars is the seller : he replied very fast to my return request, he gave me clear instructions on the steps to take in the return process and refunded the product very quickly. I will definitely buy from this seller again because I feel confident I will be able to contact him and get answers quickly.
Very well packed, quick delivery and easy to understand instructions I don’t find using expensive distilled water worth the money -so far…
In my humble opinion, it will be cheaper to replace the unit if failed to work because of limescale build up.
Cleaning it at every refill seems (to me) the answer.
I haven’t noticed any white spotting – so far…
I would recommend i
I have used this product myself and can confirm it is accurate.it will make any room in the house more pleasant excellent product thanks.
works well but I feel the 5% for auto operation is to high a resolution.
Works great. I really dump’s the moisture into the air. That’s what I was looking for. No noise. The digital display is great. Large reserve. Holds 4l. I put distilled water in it. Not sure what would happen if you used tap water.
I am delighted with this humidifier. It’s simple to use with a choice of menu combinations. I bought it to alleviate sinus problems after moving to the coast with much dryer air. Full marks from me.
Haven’t tried it jet. Electricity plug is UK not EU. (not living in UK). Nowhere was info about that.
Need to go to shop, to buy somekind of plug adapter.
Later will test this humidifier.
Tested. Works just fine. Large bedroom, at the beginning was 31%, after 4 hours it was 50%. Nice.
I found nothing to dislike & I use it in my home
It works but it needs a day or so to overcome the effect of the radiator being on in a medium-sized bedroom.
Update 2: The humidifier has been operating without problems for one month, so I’m updating to 5 stars and adding these comments:
Pros:
— Top fill. This was the main reason I choose this humidifier. Just take the lid off and pour in water. There is even a removable reservoir, so you can add water in a location away from the humidifier. I had a bottom fill humidifier before I got this one, and filling it was an awkward process.
— User-adjustable humidity set point. When the unit is on, an internal fan passes air over a humidistat to determine ambient humidity. The unit stops atomizing if the ambient humidity is above the set point. This saves water by atomizing only when necessary.
— Remote control.
— Support from the vendor.
Con:
User settings are lost during a power outage or momentary power glitch. You don’t know the unit has been reset to the default settings unless you check them every time you turn on the humidifier. Advice to the manufacturer: store user settings in flash memory, then restore those settings when power returns.

Original review:
As with many other 1-star reviewers, the dreaded 002 error message popped up after two days of use (distilled water only). If the unit flashes 002, it won’t work until the problem is solved. After cleaning per the instructions (a really awkward process), the humidifier works for half an hour before the 002 error flashes again. I gave up after repeating this routine three times.
Most users seem to like this humidifier, but a substantial number don’t have units that operate reliably. Be sure to look at the 1-star and 2-star reviews before purchasing. Buyer beware.
Have now used it for a good 6 months with no problems. keeps the room at a steady humidity of 55.
Accurate as measured with other devices. easy to use & clean. Nice feature is the removable water bucket.
This is a neat product with good features & does what it is supposed well.
This is a really good humidifier. Quiet, effective and water tank is large and easy to fill. I’m really pleased with it. It’s good that you can switch the display off as one of my cats was fascinated by that!!
I love this. Brought it for our baby. It’s amazing. So easy to use and convenient it has a massive bucket to hold the water. You can’t even notice the noise it makes.
I got this trying to setup a garden in a tent to maintain a humidity of 45% and this is supposed to have a humidistat that automatically sets the humidity to 45% and turns on once it falls under. It’s been a week and since day one, this would stop working after less than an hour with a 002 error. I read the instructions and found you may need to clean the black circle part on the inside. Did that and still doesn’t work. Put it in a stand. Still didn’t work. Starting a return maybe got a dud.
The unit itself, while quite bulky, is ultimately what I wanted as one of the main reasons for purchasing was for the increased volume. This meant I had to play around with the arrangement on my corner table where it is placed. If available, I would have preferred the white version as the black one shows powdery residue from my water. Using distilled water is recommended.
Performance is excellent, reaching the target humidity in a reasonable amount of time for my room size. The humidity setting was another selling point to me. My plants that require more humidity are loving this unit. I have less browning and seeing more new growth which helps me justify the purchase. Sleeping is also noticeably more comfortable as the air in my room is sometimes quite dry.
The main drawback for me is the noise. I find the beeps the unit makes when changing settings is a bit over the top. I think a lower volume and the option to turn it off would be nice (outside of sleep mode). There is an audible noise of the fan that is louder than my smaller humidifier, but not too bad. Still able to sleep or read without too much issue while the unit is on.
My first unit had a “whirring” noise which was noticeable. I got in contact with support and they shipped me a replacement unit the following day for testing after I explained the problem with included video. Excellent service and my support rep was very responsive and understanding.
While it is not ideal having to go through such a process, the fact they got my problem resolved in a short space of time shows me they care about their product and the customer. I will definitely recommend this product and the brand.
Works really well, noise is really low and does the job, really quick delivery too
Very easy to use and keeps my plants in great health. Don’t have to keep refilling due to the large water tank
Why I can’t send direct message to the seller ? Mine has cooling and heat system but why the heating system it’s not working ? What I do to fix it?
Overall a good product. I know it has a button to turn off the beeps, but it still Beebs loud every time you turn it on. Not good at all for late night use. What is the obsession with making everything ******* beep!
Wonderful efficient unit. Excellent for a medium size bedroom. Great price and very easy to install
However… they do have quite a few flaws…
Obviously, they’re at their most effective when they are set to max heat and fan speed. It’s definitely the fastest way to humidify a room… but in that mode, they’re not especially energy efficient nor particularly quiet, making the noise of a boiling kettle. The humidity level on the display is a rough guide at best and often shows wildly differing readings when unplugged and plugged back in again. And the ‘Essential Oil Tray’ at the outlet, please note that this is completely useless. It simply doesn’t work and on closer inspection, it’s hard to see how it can as there is no clear way the humidifying mist can get to it. It gives the impression that this will fill the air with relaxing fragrances when this compartment contains an aroma oil. Nah. Complete rubbish. Also disappointing is the current lack of availability of the Decalcification Cartridge Filter so if you’re in a hard water area like I am, these humidifiers will leave a white film of dust over nearby objects – the black version of this humidifier literally covers itself in a white film and it looks a right mess after an hour of use.
Despite all this, it is effective. It is humidifying the air to noticeable and desirable levels (particularly in the office where electronic-attracting dust levels have reduced since using this) and it is good value.
This is an easy-to-use humidifier, though I haven’t tried to clean it yet. It has certainly moistened the room I have put it in nicely. The cool mist doesn’t seem to leave damp on any surfaces and it is very easy to operate with the remote control.
Very nice product. Well built. Super quiet and puts out a ton of moisture into the air.
Very nice product. Arrived early.
Really nice but if kit. Silent, and easy to use. Remote is well handy too. Can run without light emitting from it too
It’s a good product and very helpful regarding the benefits. We really feel a difference.
In a few minutes this humidifier makes the room more comfortable. It’s silent and efficient. I’m very pleased with my purchase.
Love it, easy to re-fill, remote unit is very handy, does what it says on the box.
Quality product. Easy to use. Buy with an ‘air still’ to save buying distilled water. Looks good, works well. Very pleased with it.
I have super sensitive sinuses and get respiratory infections super easy due to the dry air. I thought I’d invest in a good humidifier as I’d never had one before and see if it helped. It works really well, it has made it easier to breathe, I haven’t had any illnesses due to post nasal drip yet! And my plants love it too!
I barely notice the noise, it serves it purpose well. Although I would be happier with a thicker mist this is still a good purchase
Got it reduced for Black Friday. It’s quiet, easy to refill and the ability to direct the mist in different directions is great! Doesn’t leak and the remote is an added benefit!
They both work well, though they can both be quirky, which comes out in some of the other reviews. If they are disturbed in some way, like filling the tank, output can drop very sharply for maybe 10 minutes until the system has stabilised itself again. Also the humidistats can vary for no apparent reason between being accurate compared to an external one and reading too low or, more usually, too high.
Now for the differences. The slightly larger model, SH8830, has a somewhat higher output and a tank that slots into place on the machine. That can present sealing problems from the water that is below the tank and mine leaked. SH 8820, on the other hand, has a tank with a proper handle that goes fully inside the machine, so no leaks. The display is different too. SH 8830 displays most of the information continually. SH 8820 displays each item in turn.
Both of my machines are black. SH 8830 has a matte finish whereas SH 8820 has a gloss finish, which looks really stylish until you use it, because it will be covered in white dust within an hour or two. One irritating feature of both machines is that it is difficult if not impossible to see the water level without taking the top off, which is easy but can’t be done without dripping water.
I regret getting this so much, i was sure i made the right choice after reading positive comments but i was wrong. While this does work it leaves a very weird white film/dust all over the room. I have to wipe our black leather sofas and wall mirrors every morning. I thought i’ll give it some time and it may stop but no same issue every day.
Update-
Seller been in contact and i was offered filters which could improve the isdue i had via email and the option I chose works perfectly. Seller obviously cares about providing value for money and looking after their customers.
So
Mist is going quite high up, on max settings is like smoke machine in a good way anyway
Warm mist is WARM, max settings is surprisingly very warm almost steam like.
I find hygrometer pretty adequate, compared with 4 different readers I’d say it can be trusted.
Looks very neat, size is kinda like pc.
Remote and 360 double nozzle are great additions.
My only wish is somewhere in the future option of moving noozles with remote that would be just amazing. Meanwhile need to stand up and do it manually
Overall i would definitely recommend, I know it’s pretty pricey but honestly better to invest in something better in this case than buying cheap and then regret (just like I did)
Tried to make video of all 3 mist levels but is not too great because of lightning conditions here Im sorry!
The company Elechomes really care about their customers which is hard to find these days. The humidifier looks really sleek in my bedroom and performs well. Perfect for clearing any nasal stuffiness, keeping my skin hydrated during brutal cold weather and keeping my houseplants happy. Highly recommend!
Works silently and I love the remote makes it so much more user friendly
Once I removed the top of the unit while it was running, I noticed a very pronounced stream of mist that wasn’t there with the top on. So, I left the top off for a couple days to see what would happen. Result: lots of water pooling on top of and around the unit. Not ideal, even though the unit was finally giving the wall AC a run for its money.
However, I am a tinkerer and an engineer. I thought there must be a way to modify it. Once I removed the two spinnable vents from the top of the unit, it belched out mist like it did with the top removed. Now I have the volume of mist that I need with the comfort of having a top-closed water tank. Feel free to reply to this review for more info.
This is an excellent warm mist humidifier. The tank holds a lot of water and lasts all night.
It has a button to turn off the lights so as not to interrupt sleep.
The dry air has caused me to wake up with a sinus headache every morning.
I’ve now had this for a month and use it every night next to my bed, I have not had one headache.
Don’t hesitate, I’ve done the research and bought the junky ones. This one is worth the money!
Mainly because of its tremendous output.
600ml per hour!!! That’s double allll the others I looked at and or bought. No matter how fancy, expensive, or feature packed they all maxed out at 280-300ml
And that’s the most important feature when choosing one. Second is always get too filled! I tried a bottom fill one and it was a huge messy pain.
3rd is water capacity. Get as big as you can so you aren’t constantly filling it. This one has the minimum I would purchase, 5.5l and I refill it once a day running it 24hrs straight on high.
That is my only complaint on this one, I wish it was at least 6liter capacity.
One of my favorite unique features for this one is the large digital display. I like being able to see its levels in the dark or far away.
I also love the sleek modern design because it’s in a dressy room. It looks like a fancy expensive contraption.
I highly recommend this one. I was amazed that even the 7.5l tower humidifiers listed at $120-$160 still only had HALF the mist output of this one
this one is best for larger areas, like your main house area. Mine is in my great room and regulates about 600 sf. It’s not ideal for a bedroom because it does make noise. And you don’t really need a high output one in a 12×13 room anyway. If you have a super size bedroom and you sleep with the tv on or music then you could use this one. If your bedroom is average size then get the tbi pro 6L top fill amazon has listed. It’s what’s in our 12×13 bedroom, it’s max output is 300ml per hr on high but that’s plenty for a 12 by 13 room.
Lastly and very important!! Make sure you lift the water bucket out of it and clean under it every 2weeks and always use filtered water in any humidifier.
If it ever starts maker more noise than normal don’t panic, it’s just dirty. Clean it out good with Clorox water.
If you ever let it run completely out of water, lift the bucket out and pour enough water in the base to raise the floater then put the bucket back filled. That keeps it from struggling and sounding like a tractor when you start it back.
I’m running warm mist 24 hours a day to keep my house between 55 and 60% humidity, for the sake of my nose as well as my houseplants. At bedtime I make sure it’s full, set it at the lowest output so that it will run more steadily instead of cutting on and off frequently (steadier noise level is better for sleeping), and set it on “screen off” instead of sleep mode so that I can keep my warm mist all night. I have a “weather station” one room away that confirms the humidity level claimed by the humidifier (good to know), and a small hygrometer two rooms away shows humidity between 50 and 55%, which is great considering the distance and square footage involved.
Because nothing is perfect, here are the downsides:
1. This is not easy to clean, no matter what anyone says. No humidifier is easy to clean, and there are always parts you can’t reach adequately to make sure they’re clean. In this case it’s a square “flapper” or whatever it’s called in the sink that doesn’t lift up high enough to really get underneath it. The thought of that pink/orange mold lingering anywhere gives me the creeps. I do the best I can, with three different brushes and a nylon scrubber, and hope for the best.
2. There is a little fabric rectangle with holes in it (see my photo) that sits on top of the little “hot plate” in the sink, and I apologize for the bad lighting here but you can still see that it started to disintegrate the last time I washed everything. So that’s in the trash and I put in the spare one that came with the machine, but what am I supposed to do when the next one falls apart? I don’t even know the name of it, and when I tried to look at Elechomes website I could not find anything. This is going to be a problem unless I can run the machine without it.
3. I bought the supplemental filter to put in the tank, and I’m undecided about how well that is working. You can tell if you have vaporized minerals from hard water floating around in your house because your stovetop flames will start to turn orange instead of the usual blue, because they’re burning off the sodium (there’s a great YouTube video demonstrating this which could save you a panicked call to your gas company). Within a week after placing the filter in the tank my stove burners went back to blue, so I thought hooray! It’s working. However, it’s only been a little over a month and the yellow flames are back. However, I don’t have any of that “white dust” that everyone keeps talking about, so maybe filter is still working, maybe not. Undecided.
4. That little thing on the top of the machine that lets you put essential oil in so your room will smell like, say, a cedar forest? THAT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. Nothing. I saturated that little pad with cedar oil and smelled nothing in the air, except when I was cleaning everything in the kitchen. I soaped up that little pad to clean and rinse it out, and the 17 drops of cedar oil rose up and almost knocked me down. The essential oil zone sits between the two output nozzles, but the vapor does not pass directly through it, so there is just no way for this thing to work. I have a little cheap $40 cool mist humidifier that does a much better job with this function, as the mist runs directly through the area where you have put the essential oil. So don’t buy this Elechomes machine for any aromatherapy.
So I’m pretty much very happy with this humidifier except for worrying about that little rectangle, and pink and orange mold. Just as a side note, if you’re shopping for this machine you might notice the Rakzu machine which looks exactly the same as this one, exactly, just with a different brand name on it. Interesting. It’s cheaper, but this one currently offers a coupon which makes them about the same.
Did they really have to put it in 4 boxes though?
Nice that it allows you to not have to turn it off to refill
the sound even when on the arm mist is just a gentle rolling like a pot boiling thats not too disruptive
agree the aroma therapy function is not really much function on this,
I know we live in a society w/ touch buttons but I prefer actualy buttons and dials, that way I could even set this up with an external dial
Wish there were other color options
This humidifier arrived very well packaged and in perfect condition. I am extremely satisfied with it and would definitely buy it again and recommend it to others.
I kinda thought the remote would be a gimmick but I always use it.
