How can I tell which breast shield size I need?

Elvie Pump comes with a 24mm and 28mm Breast Shield (often called a flange), sized based on the width of the base of your nipple. You can measure the width of the base of your nipple with a ruler. Always refer to the manufacturers instructions.

How should I sterilise?

Boil in water for five minutes or suitable for microwave, steam or cold water sterilizing methods. We do not recommend microwave or steam sterilizing for more than five minutes.

What is the suction strength/ how many intensity settings are there?

Elvie Pump has a similar range of suction to other Pumps on the market, with seven intensity settings, this means you can set the intensity at the level that is most comfortable for you.

I have large breasts, will it work for me?

We have lots of customers who have had success using Elvie Pump with larger breasts. Elvie Pump has been designed to fit within a standard nursing bra and the cup size makes no difference to how Elvie Pump works.

What is the capacity of the bottles?

The bottles hold 5oz or 150 mls of milk. If you fill a bottle during a session, it’s very easy to change bottles then resume pumping!

Game changer. I had engorged breasts. And used other brands lie Tomme tippe (don’t waste you’re time.)
The suction. Use and comfort it 10/10. Only thing I can’t fault this on is the fact that you’re milk may leak at times.

If you’re thinking of buying this. Don’t waste you’re time or money on trying a few products. Buy this once and for all and your sorted.

I’m so glad I finally got my elvie pump it has been a total game changer! As much as I love my spectra s1 I hate feeling like a cow being milked with tubes! I hated pumping infront of anyone so I was only using it at night. However now I don’t feel like that anymore! I can literally pump anywhere, I can change my baby while I pump and I can move around easily. No need for special pumping bras which I absolutely hated! It slips right into your nursing bra, I didn’t even need the extenders. I would highly recommend the elvie pump, even if your not exclusively pumping or exclusively breastfeeding like me it’s nice to relieve some of that pressure and build a little freezer stash. Only thing I would say in the app the milk volume is never really accurate for me, I always have less. As for cleaning it’s super easy with only 5 parts total to clean.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI purchased this yesterday 04/04: before purchase I was super excited cause I did my fair of research honestly. For instance, I knew the difference between the Elvie vs Willow vs Medela. Anywho, I actually have the Medela Max flow through insurance and the suction power is amazing but I can’t stand being stuck to the couch lol. So, I decided to go with Elvie instead of Willow due to reviews about being stuck in expression mode.

I received the Elvie and I can honestly say it’s a little underwhelming because as almost most of the reviews say the suction power stinks like really bad. Normally with my Medela I can easily get over 3 oz from each breast in less than 30mins (I’m a over supplier), but with Elvie it took longer than 2 hrs to just get 2 oz. I was like what the? Lol… very happy I paid for only one cause if I bought the double I would seriously blow a gasket. Now when it comes to mobility it’s awesome cause you can move but no bending over or you will lose some of your milk like I did. Stay upright… resist the urge to bend over, do laundry, etc. You can still juggle your baby with the device which made so happy. Another plus no cords or wires or lots of parts very very easy to clean and sterilize. Also hard for baby to kick or punch if they want your attention and somehow upset at the breast pump for taking the space they demand is theirs. Trust me not fun when baby is trying to pry the parts from your body lol like my son does a lot with the Medela bottles. In the end I had to re-pump after the fact with my Medela machine.

Verdict: I say it’s just okay not like the miracle breast pump I thought it would be. Very good choice for when I have to go back to work cause you stick in bra and then you good. But… if you thick you’ll empty your breasts you won’t not with this pump. Grade 3.5 to 4 in my honest opinion. I know this is a long review but hopefully it helps someone out.

Used to have a medala double pump but after the touchscreen kept freezing I returned it and got an Elvie instead. I’ve not looked back. This is the only true handsfree and practical pump out there, no pipes or external bottles or weird bra. It fits in my bra AND I can hold/feed/change my baby at the same time. It’s made it so much easier to express whilst taking care of my baby. The only thing is that the app is quite buggy, sometimes it creates random entries for 1984 or 2024?! It also looses connection and I then have to quit and open the app again. The stats are useless, that’s one where medala knows what’s better!
Cheeky that the small shield is extra, you only get the larger sizes and elvie’s small is medium sized for others (medala nipple shields and pump).
Suction is good, I had medala on 4 or 5 but Elvie on 1 or 2 so I’d say it’s stronger.

I don’t typically leave review but I am beyond happy with this purchase. I debated for a while whether or not I should purchase this pump and I think it’s worth every penny. Some reviews said that the suction power was not as strong but I really think it is. I used to use my Medela pump on high and I feel like this is the same suction at a 5 or 6. It makes it so easy to pump when I’m nursing on the opposite side. As a second time mom I’m so grateful for this pump!

I was very worried with the recent reviews but decided to just bite the bullet and go ahead with the purchase. It has to be the best decision I’ve made. I was struggling to keep up and find the time to manual pump and this has has helped me out loads and increased my milk production. Pump has various levels of suction. If it’s not working it’s normal down to how you have positioned it or put it together. Really easy to clean. Less parts than a the manual one for a start. Really is quiet compared the squeaky handle I had on the manual pump I was using.

Totally recommend and don’t be out off with the reviews.

Only leaks when you bend over. So make sure you stay upright.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersGiven that there aren’t many options in the market for portable pumps this is the best option I found for my needs.

    Pros:
1- It is more portable than the Spectra I had even though I had the spectra with the battery. With the spectra you cannot hold your baby and you need one hand to carry the heavy pump connected to you at all times.
2- Suction is gentle enough that I haven’t had any issues, yet I do get about the same I used to get with the spectra.

    Cons:
1- It leaks, I thought that for an underproducer like me it would not leak bc I never get the containers passed 2-3 ounces max, but no, it still leaks. I can see obvious flaws on the design, it could easily be improved, hopefully they will in the future.
2- I don’t have to wait for the expression mode and I can go into stimulation when I want. A problem with the Willow apparently since some people cannot get out of stimulation and into expression mode (it’s automatic in the willow and triggered by how much milk is extracted).
3- The app disconnects EVERY SINGLE TIME. It is not reliable at all for quantity of milk expressed or time on the pump. I honestly think the only good thing that came out of it was the ability to customize the time of each mode stimulation and expression. I don’t use it, busy mom’s have no time to deal with this, adds frustration. DONT BUY IT FOR THE APP.

Easy to clean very portable only 2 real issues. App does not work may be just my phone though. Also have to double check its charging because I sometimes when I plug it in I feel that it does something then doesn’t charge but take the cord out replug and charges fine. Love the lights. Feel like tony stark with them on. But warning people will stare at your glowing bionic boobs. just don’t bend over.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI exclusively pump and this breast pump has been a game changer. I love it!! I can be mobile which makes my life less complicated. With my other breast pump I was restricted to a certain place for 15 to 30 minutes each time I pumped. The suction is comfortable for me and I can adjust as needed. It’s so easy to clean… less parts than my electric pump. And the battery life is sufficient… it last atleast 3 pumps for me but that depends on how long you pump each session. Oh and it’s silent. I sit at my desk at work and no one ever knows I’m pumping!Overall I give the elvie breast pump an A+! No regets

This pump is amazing. I have other kids so this has been a lifesaver. If it weren’t for this, my pumping journey would have been over a long time ago. Also, Elvie’s customer service is wonderful. They overnighted me new parts when I emailed them with a concern on two occasions. If you’re on the fence, buy it! You won’t regret it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI can honestly say that this pump saved me. After trying at least four different pumps I could never get anything out, just a few drops. Having Elvie in my bra I was able to have my baby close to me and move freely around the house while trying to increase my milk supply by pumping all day.
I think that Elvie saved my breastfeeding journey and gave me the flexibility to pump anywhere I want.
As I type this, I am sitting on a train and pumping milk for my baby who is at home. Thanks to Elvie I have the flexibility to do that without affecting my milk supply.

My husband got this pump for me since my old one broke and this pump has been amazing! I am still able to just stick it in my bra and go about my day and pump as long as I need. It is very quiet and also has great suction power. It is also extremely easy to clean.

Easy to use, it’s good at emptying the breast you probably would get higher suction from a regular pump but this does a good job. Parts are easy to clean and elvie customer service is great if you have any issues. The pumps are pretty quiet. Only negative is the sensor that tells you how much milk you pumped is always off by and ounce or so. And you do need to charge it after each use. It will last for two 20min sessions before it really has to be charged but I charge after each use just to be safe. Easy to clean parts and easy to pour spout so no spills!

This pump is wonderful for working moms or those super crazy busy chicks. Please know that as wonderful as these are that you will likely have to get yourself maymom inserts or (my favorite) the beaugen cushions to give yourself the right ‘fit’. I do have and use another pump and that one is wonderful and stronger for sure. However for on the go or running around, this is the way to go! You can have it all. There is an adjustment phase but it’s well worth it.

The app is decent. It is NOT always correct, especially if you’re moving around, but in the beginning you have to adjust the ounces and it does seem to learn! But still, it’s not perfect but I like that you can track the oz and sessions and control from your phone.

Please do yourself a favor and join the Facebook groups for Elvie owners. It’s a huge help and there’s lots of tricks and tips to getting the most from your new pump.

These are expensive but worthwhile. Not perfect but nothing is. Last bit of advice – don’t bend over. And you’ll be just fine.

I also hear Customer Service is awesome!

    Absolutely AMAZING product!!!!!
After having struggled to breastfeed and had pain pumping with a Tommee Tippee pump, this Elvie pump has been incredible. Incredibly quiet in comparison, easy to use and really comfortable. After having been in a lot of pain for so long and dreading every feed, this pump has made expressing a dream. Not only is this good for baby as he can now have breastmilk completely, it’s also been a godsend for my own mental health! Worth EVERY penny

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI’m a very busy mom of three juggling distance learning and taking care of all of my SAHM duties. My youngest is 9 month is exclusively breast fed along with actual food just no formula. She constantly attached to me and being busy having to sit down to feed her and then pump for extra time is just in the cards for me. I had a different pump which works great the spectra 2 but I couldn’t do anything but sit, and when you have a million things to do sitting is not an option.
Another reason I decided to try Elvie was I could now allow my husband to help and bond by feeding when I needed a break or while making dinner or in the evening. I can pump while doing dishes or the laundry. But what I really enjoy is I can still nurse my 9mo old while I’m pumping and she doesn’t even get bothered by the pump. My old pump she would tug on and break suction even while wearing a pumping bra.

Ease of use: assembly is very simple. There are paper instructions or you can use the app. It instructed me you to put it together when I first got it and how to start my session. The app is easy to set up and connect each time you use it.

Features: being able to start the pump manually or through the app is great. I can set a timer change the speed or suction power without having to touch pump if I’m out. It has a sensors that monitors mild output and surprisingly it’s pretty accurate with little to no adjustment when I’m finished pumping. Some people said the light was super noticeable but it doesn’t seem to bother me.
If you tend have longer pump sessions than the pump can get pretty warm when you go to take it out.

Comfort: my first thought was how can this be comfortable? But once you get the hang of placement you barley know it’s there. It’s not super noticeable but since I purchased the single pump my chest looks a little lopsided, but any mom knows we have days where one breast is much bigger when breast feeding.

Cleaning: I read a lot of reviews between Elvie and Willow and this one seem to have better reviews for cleaning. I would have to say that cleaning this one it’s actually easier than cleaning my original pump. I can’t even dry it in the collection container fully before reassembling. You may need a few bottle cleaning tools. I currently use the set of munchkin bottle cleaning tools and a doctor brown brush with a soft scrubbing top. And it is small enough to get into the collection container and clean every little nook and cranny. Since the pump portion cannot be submerged in water you need to make sure to take a wet towel and clean off the seals in the area world the Milk passes into the collection container because it can start to build up there.

Mechanical: my first thought was that it was going to be very loud like my original pump. That is one thing that I really like about this pump it’s very quiet and is actually much more comfortable than a traditional pump. Because it is designed to hug your breast it’s not just sucking in your nipple. There are different shields that you can purchase if you need one that is larger than the one that it comes with the one that it comes with is a 24 mm. Which is The standard size for most breast plan on market.

Overall I would 100% recommend this pump to anyone who is trying to make their life easier or for someone who is going back to work and exclusively pumping. To a mom who’s at home running around dealing with crazy children and a house and looking for a way to pump more effectively and efficiently. The only company I have is if the pump is beginning to get full in the reservoir bending over can sometimes make it leak or spill somehow. I haven’t exactly figured out why it would leak when I would bend over because it is sealed very well. That is my only complaint so far. It charges fully in roughly 2 hours when I took it out of the box. And I just plug it in after every session to make sure that it’s charged up.

Parts: I love that it comes with two shields so I can pump and not have to clean it right away and have a second to use. It also comes with a carry bag so if I’m going to be mobile I can bring a clean one with me. I chose to go with a single pump and I’m glad that Elvie has The option to have a single which is why I ended up landing with them in the end. I had heard good things about the Willow but I also didn’t like how people complain that it was very hard to clean compared to the Elvie who had purchased both pumps.

Overall if you do get the single pump or the double I think you’ll be happy with your purchase.

This pump was worth the price. I’m a working mom (general counsel for a large company), and I struggled returning to the office because I had to be attached to a pump for nearly 2 hours during a workday. I had to choose between breastfeeding and being a FT working mom, until I discovered this pump. At first I was skeptical, but I figured I’ll try it since I was at the end of the line with sustainability of pumping at work. I have had it for two days, and it is worth every dime.

I have used both Medela and Spectra pumps, and this one is best for busy moms like myself. I’ve been able to type at my desk, to hold my baby, and also to drive while pumping. At first the volume wasn’t great, but I’m now pumping just as much as I was with my Spectra so I’ll chalk that up to user error.

I was also intimidated by the parts at first, but it’s actually less complicated and easier to clean than the other pumps. And it’s very easy to pour into any bottle. The only downside is you can only pump up to 4 oz at a time (and you’ll need to change out the reservoir). For me that is a nonissue, but some of you more productive moms might find this inconvenient. Wish I had that problem!

I would also say that this is not nearly as discrete as some people describe. The light is bright, and it makes my boobs look enormous (I got a pretty good laugh out of this). If you’re going to pump in public, be sure to wear TWO or you’ll have mismatched boobs. The sound is not too loud but I would notice it if someone had one on next to me. Certainly I wouldn’t pump in a deposition or in court…

All in all, for me the convenience this provides is worth every bit of the cost. Good luck to everyone else! Breastfeeding is hard work, don’t give up

Worth it for a working momma

The Elvie is an absolute must have if you are breastfeeding!!! This pump made my breastfeeding experience so much better. I no longer dread having to pump at work because of the Elvie. The pump is so discreet, has no tubes, and has very simple parts to clean quickly. I even pump while working at my cubicle. I can pump virtually everywhere because it’s so quiet and you can turn the lights down low so it doesn’t show through your shirt. I bring the Elvie with me in my diaper bag when I leave the house. I recommend watching the Elvie videos to help you use them correctly. They are very helpful! I promise you will get the hang of it after some practice. I can say that I 100% recommend purchasing the Elvie. They are SO WORTH IT!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis is my third baby, with my first I used a manual tommee tippee pump which I loathed. I hated the effort and how my hands got RSI from pumping. With my second I invested in the medela electric pump which was a lot better but still with many flaws, mainly noise, wires getting in the way and constant leaks leaving me drenched each feed. So for my new baby I said ‘stuff it’ and decided to break the bank by buying the Elvie.
I am so glad I did. I don’t make loads of milk – I never have so that’s not the fault of any pump so I can’t comment as someone who makes loads but this pump does easily get what milk I do make out comfortably.

    The positives are;
It’s quiet – it isn’t silent as claimed but you can have a conversation whilst using it and crucially you can hear the telly without putting the volume up to 11
It is hands free once it’s on and in the bra. I’ve used a hospital grade breast pump which didn’t yield more milk but did require me to hold the pumps in place. The great thing about the Elvie is that you can eat, hold the baby, stand up and answer the door etc all without stopping the pumping session.
It’s comfortable- ladies you know how much your poor nipppes can hurt whilst feeding but the Elvie is very gentle. At first I was worried it would be too gentle to work but no, it pumps well without causing pain which is a massive plus.
Once you figure it out, it’s easy to clean and assemble.

    The downsides;

It’s design does mean that you have to lean forward somewhat to avoid leaks when you remove the pump
It’s only suitable for cold water sterilisation – be careful here because I’ve read women have destroyed their pump by using heat to sterilise. It’s a bit annoying that I have to get tablets to sterilise but not a massive problem.
    Lastly it’s a shame it’s so expensive.

Overall I really recommend the Elvie and am glad I don’t have another breast pump that I want to hurl across the room in frustration!

Love the pump and Great Elvie customer service. Don’t buy this pump for the app. The app isn’t accurate and will often changes back your output, once you edit it to be corrected. If you want a pump that’s portable and quiet, this is great. Do not boil these parts, use a different sterilization method and it will warp your parts.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAs a first time mom and my husband going back to work, I was worried how I would be able to pump every 2-3 hours, take care of a newborn baby, and do everything else I need to do. This pump is worth the price! I’m able to multi task without risking messing up my milk production by waiting too long to pump. I am able to express the same amount of breastmilk with this pump compared to Medela Symphony. Truly a timesaver! Just remember not to bend down while pumping – tired mom brain caused this once and I lost about an ounce because it spilled all over me. The battery power lasts for two half hour sessions – since I got the single pump I just transfer it over to the other side and there is still enough charge for the added session.

This thing is the actual best! My husband bought it for me since I have a two year old and a newborn and I so wish I had it when I had my daughter since I exclusively pumped for her. My little guy breastfeeds and takes breast milk from a bottle and I use this for about half of his feedings. It has super strong suction in my opinion. I typically put it on level 1 or 2 and it goes up to 7. It switches between two different types of suction and I get the same amount of milk I do with my medela pump in style. I get a little more milk when I use my medela symphony rental but it is incredibly inconvenience to be attached to a wall with 2 kiddos. The bottle and flange are super easy to clean and the charge lasts all day. The app is also convenient since it tells you how much milk is in there in real time and it shuts off if it’s full too. I can’t recommend this thing enough! It’s so Awesome!

  24. Anonymous says:

The only reason this is not five star is because of the price and it takes a little getting use to. However, once you figure out where to position it for the best suction it is brilliant. It should really come with more of the green valves between the pump and the collection bottle however. I’ve had to buy replacements of these. I am generally satisfied with it, being relatively well endowed I was skeptical. But with the right nursing bra I can be ‘hands free’. It is easy to assemble. I’ve had mine a couple of months now and it’s used every day, this far no issues.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a really great pump. Works really well and is more comfortable than spectra. The pump is definitely over priced but given there is only a couple of these types of pumps on the market, it can be and I would buy it again. It allows me a free hand, so I can pump safely in the car on my way too or from work and easily pump the opposite side that my baby is feeding from. I also have a 50 dollar yihunion cordless travel pump that also works really well and I love ( I use it with the maymom flange inserts to get it down to 19mm) but you have to hold it to the breast and that is not safe in a car and not discrete but I use it at home and work along with this pump, since I only bought one Elvie. So all in all, worth it for me.

I just got this pump and I love it!! I’ve been fighting with getting it but finally bit the bullet. I read some reviews and not everything is perfect. You can hear it but it’s pretty quiet. As for it telling you how much you’ve pump being inaccurate, I don’t follow that anyways. I feel like there’s a lot of bottles, bags, etc are not accurate with what an ounce truly is. It’s so easy to set up and use. It’s nice not being plugged into a wall with no freedom. My only regret thus far is not getting the double pump.

  27. Grace Earl says:

I like that it can used without having to stop my other work. It gives me a sense of hygiene as I do not touch any parts that come in contact with milk closest unlike other pumps. It brought me peace of mind, especially in COVID-19 and pumping in a hospital is nerve racking for me.

I dislike that the phone app is way off in showing volume pumped. It overestimates. But the time is correct, so I switch to other side after 30 minutes.
Also pump gets heated up. Per customer care, the have some app etc to connect and check if it heats up in normal range!!

Hello , me new mom, don’t have that time!

  28. Maggie79Sjajawa says:

Great pump, FTM here. No pump is perfect. As your baby gets older, the manual pumps or electric pumps get harder to deal with every 2 hours or as needed. It’s great to be hands free. It’s easy to clean which is amazing. Charges quickly even in the car! I’ve pumped doing housework and driving.

Cons: it leaks just watch how quickly it fills up if you have a fast let down or if you bend over. It’s not going to be as great at emptying as the electric pumps but it’s good enough. It has to be completely dried and put over your nipple just right. Sometimes I’ve had to reposition it several times.
2 months in and it was worth it. If you’re on the fence, buy it, take good care and keep it clean then sell it if you hate it!

I have used the single elvie for 9 months now. It is very useful. But if you have an under supply issue I wouldn’t recommend it as your only pump because it doesn’t always fully empty you. I use the elvie on one side and my Bella baby on my lazy boob whilst double pumping. Then use the Bella baby (best 40 spent and absolute bargain!) to finish the other side. So it’s extremely useful to have at least one hand free. If you get leaks then you probably need to replace the green rubber valve. All parts are over priced though, and the bottles crack around the rim. Milton sterilisation is best.
That said, I’m glad I bought it. It made my pumping journey achievable and felt far less degrading than being restrained. It’s easy to forget you are pumping which can lead to spilling milk.

This breast pump is AMAZING. It pumps twice as much milk in half the time as my medela breast pump did. I am a janitorial business owner and clean tons of buildings and this is great to use while I’m cleaning or driving to buildings. Love the USB charger to charge in my car. I did not download the app because you don’t need it to do what it’s made to do :).

Best pump for any mom! Working mom, stay at home mom, first time mom. Every mom has stuff to do and people to take care of. I am a mom of 3 and was getting to much help from my 5 and 2 year old with my regular pump so once I had the Elvie I could pump in peace. I did a huge road trip and there was no need to stop and pump. Parts are simple and just a couple of them so easy to use and clean. Also super quite and have freaked a few people out when taking out because they had no idea it was in there!

After reading mixed reviews about the Elvie pump i have to say i was hesitant to spend 250. But I’m so happy i gave it a go. Really saves me time. Now I am am building a nice stash of milk in the freezer and also using Elvie to pump when O know I won’t be able to breastfeed. Cleaning is a bit of a faff as the pump has a few small parts, but not too annoying and the time save pumping totally compensates for tiny cleaning inconveniences.

Great suction power, feels like the suckling of my baby. The noise level is very minimal, can barely hear it. It is also super easy and convenient to clean! I purchased extra breast shields because the 2 sizes that come with the pump are too big for my nipple. That was an extra $30. The pump is very pricey, even for just the single but so worth it. I am in love with this pump! It’s so easy to clean, put together and use. There’s also an app you download and connect the pump to which lets you set a timer to your sessions and even measures how much is going into the bottle. You can control the suction power, button to start you milk going etc. I also like the small carry bag it comes with, very convenient for travel and useful so you can have your pump with you anywhere you go if needed. I purchased this pump because I have 3 children, 6,1 & 1 1/2 mos. I am a student, housewife and super busy mom and never have time to sit and pump. I have a medela pump which is great but it takes too much time to clean parts and set everything up for each use. I also don’t have time to be hooked to a machine for too long because my kids always need something and if I’m sitting down I’m constantly getting up and moving around. This pump is a lifesaver. I purchased to use on one breast while my baby feeds on the other side. And so far it’s great!! I really recommend investing in this pump.

It is easy to use and it is really helpful, the suction is quick and efficient. I’m happy with this product it’s the best in the market.
It is a good innovation to have your hands free and to be able to shave other tasks at the same time the only issue is the capacity of the container, it is only 5oz and when you are moving the liquid comes out even when the pump automatically stopped.

I love this pump because i am a working mom and it super easy to use and easy to cover up when working.
However, i am low milk produce and leakage still happens. The phone app is only good for remote controls(on/off), does not measure expressed milk volume correctly at all. I only got a single pump which makes it less convenient to remove from one side to another during workday. Overall, its a great improvement to being plugged to a motor and tubes

The Elvie comes with 2 nipple shield sizes… both were too large & did not make a good suction. I had to purchase the smaller size seperately. I think they planned it that way for additional money to be obtained.
Very hard to get the right position & connection.
The battery life lasts for about 20 minutes on each side. If you don’t charge it right before use… whatever charge that is on the battery will drain… & you will have to recharge before use. I wish I could return it. Had better luck with the haaka manual hand pump – No fuss.

Hands free expressing is the way to go. I love that I don’t have to sit tied to a cable and can fit it into my schedule without having to find time away from my baby to express.
It halved my expressing time and I do really like it. You must read instructions and make sure you use correct shield, positioned correctly and use bra strap adapters so it’s not pushed too tight against your boob though. Once you’ve got the knack it’s great.

I love my elvie! Its so easy to use, quiet, discreet and quick. I am exclusively pumping and i couldn’t have succeeded without this pump im sure! Ive had to replace the valves as i find they weaken if you use sterlising liquid but they are quick to deliver and okay priced. Also snapped the release button and elvie have sent a replacement for free!!!! So very happy all round!

Had this in my wish list for a long time and finally bit the bullet and decided to ‘invest’ so that I could continue pumping after returning to work.

    Pros:
    – obviously, being able to move about and not being tethered to the wall or tubes. This was very helpful for me, having had a baby amidst the pandemic with no help at all.
    – it’s quite silent compared to other pumps out there. You could probably hear it in a silent room (and maybe the trickle of milk) but with enough ambient noise you’d never know there’s a pump running.
    – For me, the quantity of milk was on par with my other double pump. So it didn’t affect my supply in any way.

    Cons:
    – pricey for what it is. But hey if that’s the price for mobility then it is what it is. There are other pumps out there that do an equally good if not a better job for a fraction of the price and time (especially if getting a single pump)
    – the app was not very user friendly. But it can be used without the app so it was not a big deal.
    – there a light that shines through your shirt sort of like iron man (woman?) but can be easily concealed with a scarf or sweater
    – you can’t be fully mobile, trying to do too much and bending down can cause leaks.

    And then…
    – the suction can be tricky to get right. Once you figure this out, it works like a charm. There are quite a few videos on YouTube that deal with this.
    – a full charge lasts me about 2 full 40 min pumps.

In summary, get it if you value mobility, and don’t mind paying for it!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI was v unsure about this product but was desperate to try. It is such a big investment that I was really afraid. I work 9/10 hour days 5 days a week and express lots for my 4 month old. My first pump was a hand me down from my sister & was an older model Tommee tippee, it died so I had to buy another one. But I had the chance to find out that pumping was going to work for me before investing. I have my Elvie 3 weeks now & this product is brilliant. It’s quick, quiet & convenient! I pump when driving so that’s a great use of my time. I had read about cleaning being an issue but I have to say for me it’s been fine. I use a Tomme tippie electric steam steriliser. I always put it on the top shelf & try to pack it up well with bottles etc. (hoping that it’s not too too hot). The shield size suited me so I was lucky on that front. I love the integration with the app. I can control it from my phone which is really handy. If I’m doing something & I don’t want it on then I can just pause it in my phone discreetly. Eg, in a post office that turned out to be very quiet so to save me blushing (or humming), I paused it on my phone & started again in the car. Great! I do like tech but this is not difficult. My phone always picks it up & connects automatically. It cuts out automatically when full so you can continue with what you’re doing until you’re ready to empty.
Cons – for me there are only two – it only holds 4.5 oz…. I’m used to pumping about 7 on a side at a time, so I now just stop, empty & start again. And secondly, it spills which is literally soul destroying. I have learned the very hard way so I don’t spill it much anymore but still have the odd spillage. Which is v frustrating as you have milk all over you, you need a spare top & it’s a bit rotten.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Users**Modifying my review that I originally wrote (below). So this pump is still good, but I’m knocking off a star because I’m frequently having to take the pump and parts apart because it’s not suctioning (Which is SO annoying when you’re in a rush)… if you look on YouTube you will see tips for what to check when this happens. Almost every time I empty out the milk and put it back to pump more, I have to readjust this pump a couple times, and it only holds 3-4 ounces at a time. Like someone else said- the green part for the actual suction has to be COMPLETELY DRY to work, and it usually gets a tiny bit wet from the pumping I suppose? My spectra will pump a couple extra ounces out after this. It is convenient for a quick little milk release, but for the price. Meh. Overall I suppose, I’m still happy I have it.

    *************************************
I LOVE this. I have a newborn and a 2 year old and this has been so helpful. Chasing a toddler and breastfeeding a newborn can be close or impossible at times and the Elvie makes it very manageable. I bought 1 and really don’t see a reason for 2 unless you are primarily pumping or need to for quick sessions like at work, etc. I put it on my breast and get our life together and when I’m done getting us ready, boom… I have a bottle or two for on the go or for someone to feed my little princess.

Yes, the measurements are slightly off and the app measurement can be a little off but I truly don’t care, as long as it’s actually getting my milk out, I’m good. This was money well spent! The parts are dish-washable (when I had the medela pump first baby, I was constantly having to clean every little piece by hand- annoying & time consuming). I have the spectra now too and that is an awesome pump but still, you’re stuck to a cord in the wall. The Elvie is SUPER quiet and surprisingly stays on well in my bra as long as I’m not moving around too crazily. It does fill up semi fast but it’ll stop and you can just empty very easy. The suction isn’t too bad; I have a high pain tolerance I guess there so the level 7? (I think it is) is just enough for me to work up to.

I wish I had this with my first baby… so if you want to breastfeed and you’re a busy mama (who isn’t?) and debating this, GET it.

    Good luck mamas!

This is amazing. This product is something that makes my life easier in the crazy newborn phase. It’s so easy to use and you can pump anywhere and whenever you like. It’s totally hands free and it makes very little noise. Other pumps will mean that you have to schedule time. This pump means that you can do it while you are breastfeeding, watching tv or going for a walk (I have even done it in a waiting room). So so practical and worth the investment – you have something you don’t have to stress about and it gives you time.

Overall its amazing – for me to get a good use out of it of 10oz of milk before it dies i couldn’t be anymore greatful.

I have to say this has product has made me a believer that you can be a functioning working mom and continue breast feeding your baby. It has made it easy for me to stock up supply while still spending time with my family and not being tied down to a stationary pump. It’s quiet and efficient allowing you to literally pump anywhere! I got engorged frequently because I’m not good at sitting down for long periods of time, and the Elvie helped solve that problem.
They are so comfortable and quiet that I’ve actually fallen asleep sitting up of course on my couch while pumping with the Elvie and once the bottle was sensed as full it shut itself off. I’m an RN so going back to work I was hesitant I wouldn’t be able to continue to breast feed, and thanks to Elvie I’ve actually worn it while giving patient care and while charting my coworkers and patients had no idea aside from the fact that I looked large chested!

There are a few things that I would give advice on
    1. don’t wear it in a dark room because the lights on the Elvie don’t dim well or shut off and you will look like you have headlights
    2. make sure you have a very small straw cleaning brush to clean the crevices as the milk can build up on the release button and around the sensor
    3. make sure you have a well supporting bra because it can pull down on your breast making it slightly uncomfortable (with a good nursing bra this is not an issue)
    4. you have to wipe down all the parts after every pump so make sure you have cleaning wipes with you if you’re in public or limited access to water.
    5. If you are small chested they will make your breasts look large.

I love this product for anyone looking to breast feed and go back to work, or just get stuff done around the house.

I really like this pump. It was very easy to set up. The suction is good and even better then some of the bigger, non wearable pumps that I’ve tried. Life is just so much easier when you can pump anywhere. I used it during a work meeting and it is very easy to hide. Finally, I had an issue with the pump after a few months and costumer service was really great. They immediately sent a new replacement. Very satisfied with my purchase overall.

I don’t understand the one-star reviews on this pump! It is, by far, the *best* money we have ever spent.

My breastfeeding journey did not go as planned and early on decided to exclusively pump and top up with formula. I started off with a traditional wired double pump (the popular yellow brand) and quickly realised it would be impossible to maintain a decent pumping schedule with a growing baby, while being attached to the wall! At two months postpartum my average output was about 50ml daily, which was pretty demoralising.

Then after a lot of uming and ahing, I got the Elvie. Quickly my output increased to 150ml, then 250ml, and at four months postpartum I was averaging about 750ml a day – more than enough for my baby!

I’m now eight months postpartum and pump 1L of milk a day with the Elvie, enough to feed my baby and put a little in the freezer!

Many people seem to have issues with suction – I too had a few problems with this to begin with, but quickly realised that a) the green valve must not be tucked into the hub, b) all parts MUST BE BONE DRY, and c) the green disk has to be firmly in place on the shield otherwise the pump WILL NOT WORK. Elvie customer services have always been super helpful at fixing any problems I’ve had and will even replace hubs if they break within warranty.

Personally I have had no issues with this pump and could not rate it higher. The suction is brilliant – gentle, like a baby suckling – and the parts are easy to wash and put together. In six months I haven’t had to replace anything at all. The app is a bit hit and miss but tbh I just use it to track how long I’ve been pumping for! The pump leaks if you bend forward too far but that’s the same with all pumps. I believe the positives far outweigh the negatives, and although it’s expensive and the extra parts are pricey, it’s also convenient, quiet and reliable.

In short, I highly recommend this pump. For me it has been worth every penny and has meant my baby can be exclusively breastfed without nursing.

    Saved my breastfeeding journey!

Amazing pump, would not have been able to express without it. Had a valve go, contacted customer services and replacement received the next day, then pump hub broke down, again, received replacement hub within 2 days. Leaks a bit if moving too much but overall, cant fault it.

By far the best pump out there.

Very pricey, but if you’re serious about pumping, stop fretting and get one. You will simply waste money on other pumps and end up paying just as much. I have had a Hakaa, a manual pump and an electric pump, and none compares to this.

Girls – this is a HANDS FREE pump. Meaning you can make yourself a cuppa, play with baby or simply pump on the go. Frankly, it’s made exclusive pumping far better than either breast of formula feeding if you are struggling to breastfeed baby (lets not forget that breast milk is free, and is great for getting your body back after baby).

It has taken a couple of weeks to get the hang of it, and the first one I bought didn’t work, so here are my tips:

    1. Buy in store, not online. That way you can simply return it quickly if anything goes wrong. It can also be cheaper in store.
    2. Buy it before you have baby, and figure out how to use it. Figuring out how pumps work when you’ve sleep deprived is likely doing mental arithmetic whilst pole vaulting. Way too much going on to get it right.
    3. Charge in between each session
    4. Get the fit right. If it hurts like hell, go larger, if you cant feel anything, go smaller.

In terms of pumping, it stops when full (about 4oz), which is great for stopping leaks, but faffy as you need to keep emptying it. Since this is the only real downside (apart from the high price), I highly recommend, and wish I’d had this from the beginning.

    Buy it.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOnly leaving five start review because when I put a one star review it got removed. Completely useless wife couldn’t use it at all because the suction is so bad. It’s supposed to be hands free and not have you stuck in the same place while your pumping but when you move it breaks the seal around the nipple so what little suction there is is lost. The battery only lasts about 20 minutes so if you need to pump both sides you can only do ten minutes a side, then you have to charge it. Unless your boobs are already a little bit on the bigger side it won’t fit in your bra. It is in no way worth even half of the price they charge for this thing, it’s ridiculous. Without a doubt the biggest waste of money I’ve ever seen. DO NOT BUY!!!

Golden Review Award: 14 From Our UsersI have 3 pumps. I hate having to stop what I’m doing, sit down with my arms pinned to my sides and pump for a half hour. I knew I needed to maintain my supply while also living my active, busy life… thus purchasing the Elvie. I’ve seen some people complain about suction.. aligning the nipple with the pump is harder than it looks, and if it isn’t aligned properly, suction can feel low. When used properly, suction is sufficient. I’ve noticed that it takes longer to drain my boobs pumping with Elvie, but I don’t mind at all since I can complete my activities effortlessly while wearing this pump. It takes about 20 min per side.

The Elvie is super easy to take apart and clean. I find it much easier to clean over my Medela. It holds a charge for about an hour of pumping, so it does need to be charged between pump sessions. Again, a small sacrifice for pumping freedom.

The app is great. I love controlling everything from my phone. It’s simple with everything you need, nothing you don’t.

Overall, I’m incredibly pleased. If you’re hesitant about buying the Elvie, just do it!

    Very happy

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSo I paid for this pump out of pocket, and I wish that I would have had this from the very beginning of my breast pumping experience. I got the spectra 1 with my insurance, and it’s great but I hate being tethered to it. The reviews are everywhere for all of the handsfree pumps and I didn’t want to spend a bunch of money and be disappointed. I ended up getting the freemie first. It was very ok.. I could do some things handsfree, but the placement of the cups had to be super precise and I was always messing with it. Still it offered some freedom. Then a family member offered to help me pay to try the Elvie.
It is a game changer. I first only purchased one to see how I’d like it, and I wish I just would have bought them both. Extremely easy to use and clean. It really is so quiet sometimes I forget I’m pumping. It is fairly discreet, and although I have yet to wear it out, when I do go back to work I think I’d be comfortable in it in front of people. The suction is not too abrasive but I still pump my usual 5-6 oz on it. The app isn’t super accurate on telling you how many oz you are collecting, however it’s a decent estimate and it’s not that hard to remove and check if you are curious. I have now learned to go by amount of time to get an idea of how much I’ve pumped. Overall, I’m very pleased and would absolutely recommend. If you are looking for something to free you and extend how long you are able to pump.. this is for you.

Best pump ever, i own the medela pump and had to buy like 4 pump bra and used it the few three weeks postpartum. The elvie pump was life changing, i could walk and do my chores while pumping and thats important when u have a newborn. It is tricky to get ur nipple position right but after a few try u will get used to it. And i get more milk out than my medela; i get 3-4 oz per boob!

At first I found the suction a little lacking compared to the Medela Swing but after using for a while I’m used to it and get the same volumes out from both pumps now. Ideal for someone who wants to pump but hates sitting down plugged in in the mains 5 times a day. My only complaint would be the milk level detector as it seems to think its full at 3-4oz but the bottle has a 5oz capacity

So I chose the Elvie because I needed a pump easy to use while I’m at work that wasn’t noticeable by sound. The Elvie is extremely quiet! I love the fact that I can be at work and not have to be hooked to the wall to pump. The only downside is the amount on the app is not accurate. Also, figuring out how to place on your breast is a bit tricky but the instructions explained it pretty well for me. It has only been a week but I absolutely love it and recommend it to anyone needing a hands free pump.

Only down side is the accuracy of the volume according to the app. It’s about 1/2 oz off.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersLove this pump. Very sleek, efficient and easy to use. I was using a hospital grade pump before I decided to purchase the Elvie; I didnt think it was going to work as well but, turns out, I’m getting 30% more milk in each session with the Elvie. The fact that is totally mobile and cable free definitely improves how I feel about all the time spent pumping and my overall mood. You do need to make sure it is placed correctly and to keep it as straight as possible (once you get comfortable with fitting it, you’ll find ways to keep it straight while sitting back on your couch, for example). Absolutely love the product and I wish I had bought it earlier.

I was so annoying with using a standard breast pump which made me pump less which cause my supply to decrease so I really needed something mobile and easy & this gets the job done . I read many reviews before purchasing and I seen a lot of comments about The suction power and it’s true the suction is not very strong but if your milk comes out easy you shouldn’t have a problem . On my standard breast pump i normally have the suction power at 4 and on this device i have to use the max so i can see how it would be a problem for other who’s milk takes more effort to come out . I would recommend also ordering the smaller breast shield because the ones it comes with are for huge nipples . I have big boobs & nipples and the 2 it comes with seem excessively huge to me

Love it! Super comfortable and convenient.
I wish it was a little easier to clean the bottle!
The app isn’t accurate on how much you’ve pumped. But you can edit it after every session.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersWife says: I love this pump. I hated pumping before I got this. I hated being attached to the wall and not being able to do anything. Now I can do most anything I want while I pump and people around me have no idea. It takes practice to line up the shield correctly. If you are getting less milk than normal or not feeling suction then it’s probably not lined up well. Great investment.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersThis product is amazing. So easy to use and can still be mobile and be busy around the house. I felt I was missing so much time with my baby trying to pump. And was about to give up and move to formula when I decided to buy this. Is recomend to anyone wanting to purely express feed their baby. I can now be feeding and changing my baby while expressing milk.

Golden Review Award: 276 From Our UsersLet me start by saying I paid out of pocket for BOTH a willow and elvie pump- so this is completely unbiased.
I purchased the Willow and right off the bat constantly had issues with it. I purchased both the reusable bags option and the configuration to pump into the reusable containers. I can’t tell you how many times I contacted customer service due to the pump being unreliable, it was always something -and one of the 2 pumps was eventually replaced by Willow. I also mention I ordered all 3 available sizes of flanges to make sure sizing was correct. My biggest issue with the Willow is it truly decides when it wants to work( ESPECIALLY with the reusable containers- customer service admitted to me these are still very much a work in progress And I would say that’s an understatement), I’m an exclusive pumper so skipping a pump session due to the pump not working just isn’t an option for me. I can’t just skip a session if the pump doesn’t work- so I constantly had to have another standard pump near as backup (doesn’t that eliminate the point of it!?!) There were so many times where the willow would never switch from stimulation to expression despite meticulously following instructions from Willow and having coaching consultation with them. Also the willow is significantly louder and larger (so if you are small or have a small frame- unless you are wearing a jacket it looks absolutely absurd and ridiculous. I would say the elvie is near silent and the willow is pretty much in line with the volume/sound of a standard pump- maybe just a bit quieter.
The elvie- works every time, I literally have yet to have an issue with it. Is so quiet and small that I wear it when I’m working and no one can ever tell even when they are standing right next to me. You could wear this with thin clothing and it doesn’t look ridiculous like the willow. Far fewer/easier parts than the willow is a huge bonus as well.

As far as comfort- I’m not at all sensitive- but the willow made me bleed so many times even when using the lowest pump setting and again- wasn’t a size issue as I owned all 3 size flanges to find the perfect fit.
My only regret is not getting the elvie sooner. I absolutely despise the willow- and wish I didn’t waste my money on it (not cheap). In my opinion there are 0 advantages of the Willow over the Elvie, not even 1!!!!!!!

This is by far the best electric breast pump I’ve come across. It’s genuinely as close to absolute silence as you can get, comfortable and easy to use, clean, store ect.

It’s discreet enough to use out and about, which is ideal for those who need to pump and store when back at work.

The only thing to comment on negatively is the price is just massive. We’re hopeful it lasts for future babies too. At that price, I’d expect it too

Golden Review Award: 30 From Our UsersAs of mom of 3 this has been my absolute lifesaver since this go around I am exclusively pumping. I am able to keep to a great schedule since I am able to be 100% hands and tubing free with my Elvie. To my surprise I have the same output with my Elvie as I do my Spectra; and lately, even more output. It’s very comfortable to wear and the app is a great added bonus. I do wish the battery life lasted slightly longer, but I can easily charge in car or with a power bank if absolutely needed.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersGosh where do I begin. I don’t usually write reviews but I had to.
    1) it came on time, nice box easy to understand instructions on paper and the app
    2) connected easily
    3) parts easy to assemble
    4) easy to wash and sterilise
    5) pumping easy to do and start
    6) discrete, quiet, no pain or discomfort

Only thing makes it obvious if someone looks at your boobs that there’s something there.
But for the the ease and convenience it’s worth it.

Expensive though but if you can afford it…get it.

Say goodbye to dangling tubes and bottles the Elvie is a complete wearable breast pump that you can take anywhere!

The Elvie is so compact that it is worn under your nursing bra which allows pumping whilst working, driving, walking. You could pump in any location and nobody would know the Elvie was there under your bra. Going back to work but still wanting to feed our baby breast milk the Elvie was the perfect solution.

The battery will last 2-3 pumping sessions, so needs charging once a day. The Elvie app is Bluetooth connected to the pump and will show battery life, remote control, live milk monitoring, and pumping session history. In case you are away from your phone the pump can still be used without the app.

The breast milk flows directly into the bottle located at the bottom of the pump, however this location makes it difficult to see how much milk is being pumped and the volume markers are too small to read. This means on your first use it is difficult to gauge how much milk is being pumped. The live milk monitoring within the app is based on a algorithm and is not a true calculation on how much milk has been pumped.

To wear the Elvie attach the seal to the breast shield and then attach the shield to your nipple first, then use the markers to align the hub correctly onto the shield. Press the on button on the front then press the play button on the top and the Elvie will enter stimulation mode. The pump will automatically switch to pumping mode when it senses milk flowing or it can be manually switched to pumping mode via the app or the play button.

The major disadvantage to the Elvie is that a traditional pump will be able to extract more milk than the Elvie. There are also five different parts that need to be washed after every pumping session. Despite this the Elvie is a all in one breast pump that is app connected and easy to use. It is the perfect solution for a busy working mum.

I really did not think this would be such a great item to try — my niece has just given birth and mastitis was literally on her doorstep, as baby would refuse to latch and expression was sooooooo painful that she would be in tears on my couch asking why on Earth nobody told her that it hurts that much. Now this pump is in a league of its own, ok it’s not a discreet silent, almost invisible thing you simply slip into your bra and express while delivering a seminar to a bunch of students who would remain oblivious to whatever is happening under that blazer of yours — come off it! It is the 21st century, but we are only stepping into it yet, not fully fledge embracing the developments and technological advances of this brave new world — this feature is still part of some prototype magic machines, probably collecting dust somewhere in anticipation of its release to the be used by general public . This pump is still noticeable, it still can be seen and heard, you still have to try and sit a little still or at least not bend down too much or run around with a hoover while expressing milk, but it sucks you dry and does it reasonably pain-free at first and completely painless once you are used to it. And only this is worth the price you are expected to pay for it!

I have to say first off i was shocked at the price for this and the double pack but guessed in some ways you get what you pay for and if you plan on more than one child its an investment.
It comes nicely packaged in a cube and is easy to get out and get started with charging etc. the instructions are clear and easy to follow but will take some practice, dont expect to just cup in on and be off like i did.
you really do need to get it in the right place for it to ensure there are no leaks or milk spots that occur and this will be something you will find a way of doing that works for you over time. for the most part it stayed well put and didnt leak but if you bend alot or lean when working or doing housework etc it will shift a little. Once attached it is comfortable to wear and didnt bother me in the slightest compared to others which was nice and di produce a good amount of milk. it was silent and discrete but obviously it still adds bulk to the bra so with only one you will look a little off balance but hey its not cheap to buy the pair is it.
The charging is a little long for my liking and again if you only have the one you really need to be on the ball with getting this done ready for when you plan on using this.
If you can afford it go for the double and look even or have a spare to charge is my advice . its costly but good, its not perfect but then again what is in this world. works better than lots ive tried and was the most comfortable to use.

I highly recommend this pump if you have a busy lifestyle. Although in my opinion the suction isn’t as strong and it doesn’t pump as much as a regular breast pump. Still, it is an amazing pump if you are away from your baby regularly and want to be able to pump while getting on with your day. This pump is so much quieter compared to a regular breast pump you can wear it while working. Although it is discreet it does about double your breast size so you might want to wear something a little baggy. You will need to also make sure the pump is pressing against your breast enough to get a good suction so make sure you wear a bra that fits properly. The pump comes with a little bra extension strap. This will create more space so the pump fits in nicely but you will need to wear a proper nursing bra for this clip to work.

It’s so nice to be free while pumping. I remember the countless nights in tears when my 2nd born was in hospital but I also had to be home for my other child (and to get a decent night sleep). I would switch over with my partner every now and again to get a break. Sitting on the bed at night, completely exhausted, I couldn’t move as I was having to pump while I had so many other things to do. I wish I had this wearable pump back then as it would have made my life much easier.

This pump lasts for about 3-4 sessions depending on how long you pump for and you can charge it using a USB cable. If you are worried you haven’t got time/anywhere to charge it while travelling you can always use a portable power bank to charge this backup.

Altogether an absolutely brilliant piece of kit for a busy (working) mum.

My partner tested this and feedback is coming from her. As we were completely new to the parenting, we didn’t try any breast pump before and were amazed of how amazing this is. The fact that you can go unnoticed is amazing.
We had a good clear before first usage, as we are bacteria freaks and avoiding them as much as possible. Also took a few trial and testing to find the best We had to read the instructions several times and had a right faff with the app, but once you are use to it, is the best method of breast pumping. Showing the history and even stop pumping once the bottle filled up. Amazing that you can go for your business around the house or simply hold/feed/change the nappy of your baby while the pump works in the meantime. While the price can be off putting, I can only praise this after using it for a few weeks, as the freedom it gives you is just invaluable.
Another advantage is the portability and can fit in the bra, making your breast look rather bigger though, so I didn’t dare wearing it out public yet, just around the house. You can wash the components easily and you get a lot of different accessories with the pump so while is not the cheapest, is a good value for money.

Golden Review Award: 11 From Our UsersAfter ten months of breastfeeding my daughter (and a year of breastfeeding my first) I never thought I would gush about a breast pump. I really dislike them, and although I was a prolific pumper with my older daughter, I have barely touched one the second time around because of bad experiences – damaged nipples, blocked ducts, the drudge of holding a funnel to my boobs and being stuck in the same position for ages, only to get a few mls of milk out. Ugh, just not worth it.

When i got an offer to try the Elvie I was really intrigued by the hands free element – imagine the freedom, definitely too good to be true, and the price is eye watering compared with other pumps.

I recently had a girls night away so brought it along to try; I was sharing a room with my friend who is also breastfeeding so we both gave it a try and were genuinely blown away by it. It’s so easy to set up, no wires, just a small breast-shaped motor with two milk collection attachments with little valves on them. Neither of us needed a specially sized breast shield like other pumps. It is so simple, just point the nipple into the centre of the shield, and tuck the motor into your bra. I’ve had to use the strongest setting for milk removal on other pumps as they’ve just been so useless, but I only went for the low setting on this. Literally press the button and forget about it. I brushed my teeth, got ready for bed, all the while chatting away to my friend, completely oblivious that the pump was working away in my bra, apart from the regular gushes of milk flowing in. It is so comfortable, a million times more comfortable than other pumps, there is literally no comparison, this is in a league of it’s own.

And the best bit is the speed, after five mins on one boob I had already collected a few oz of milk. I swapped it over to the other and collected a few more; all done in about ten mins. Amazing. My friend had been away from her daughter for longer and actually collected 10oz. That is an insane amount of milk to collect from a pump, especially in such a short period of time.

I came home from the weekend away completely converted back to pumping. This pump would have given me such freedom if I had it when my daughter was younger as it would have been so worthwhile pumping if I had it. Such a breeze. I genuinely cannot recommend it enough; if you are already considering one of the more expensive pumps then its worth seeing if you can stretch to this; pumping is such a miserable experience, but not with this.

    Amazing, amazing, amazing

This review is for the single Elvie silent pump. The product arrived well packaged and on time.

My wife has used a number of pumps over the years from manual to auto. She absolutely loves this one! In comparison to other brand she has rated the comfort and ease of use the best for this.
She was especially impressed with the smart features and how quiet the pump is.

She has already recommend to a few of her NCT friends who are also looking to purchase. The only down side is that it is fairly expensive however she does say it is worth it.

It is also very quiet so if you want to be discreet whilst you’re pumping.

This pack is cheaper than the double pack and is better for those who want to spend less and also only want to use one 🙂

    Pros:
    * Portable and light
    * Decent battery life (I can pump at least four 20 minutes sessions)
    * Easy to assemble and wash
    * Comes with four bottles
    * 2-year warranty on the Hub (pump mechanism) and a 90-day warranty on the washable components
    Cons:
    * Price. Its great pump and worth every penny, but anyway negative for me so far is a high price.
    * The app needs work, sometimes loses connection to the pump, but reconnects and works fine
I love this pump, it’s awesome, its a great help especially when you returning to work. So comfy and you can pump on the go. There’s plenty of tutorials on Elvie, once fitted correctly it works like a dream.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersElvie breast pump is a new and beautiful innovation. There are some very very good things, others a bit less which I am sure they will go and renew them in the next few months or years.

The breast pump comes half installed. You would need to choose another part depending on the size of your nipple and insert.

You can charge it by USB. I am charging it more or less once a day and it lasts for all the feed I do in a day. It fits in a bra which is very handy and you can carry it everywhere without needing to be stuck where a plug is. What I do is I carry milk storage bags as well where I can put milk in once it is pumped.

Very comfortable to wear. On the instructions it says it does not need to be sterilised every each use but personally I do since that it is advised to sterilise things before reaching at least 6 months of age of the baby. Of course do not wash the body of the pump, I am talking about the accessories

There is a ring inside the pump which is a bit delicate and you would need to be careful not to break it.

With two children (a 3 years old and a 5 months old) this pump is marvellous. I am on my own, no family around and I save lots of time with this. It seriously changed my life. Expensive but worth the money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSome pumps have a suction that is uncomfortable, But this pump feels more gentle on my nipples. The single pump is easier for me to use, As i find double pumps can be a bit overwhelming. Thankfully this is not as embarrassing as some other pumps i have used, As it runs in hands free, And has a silent mode so people don’t know i have it on, And i can continue with my day as normal.

A manual pump can be useful when i need to pump now and again, But for regular milk, I find the electric ones much more convenient. It took me awhile to find the right pump that suited me. It seems that pumps are very much a personal preference, And it really depends on the pain threshold and sensitivity of the nipples.

This requires less effort, And extracts more milk in a shorter time. The pump has useful features in the app such as pumping history, And a pump control that automatically shuts down when it detects the bottle is full. I pump around eight times a day, Which is manageable with this automatic pump. The design means that it fits into my bra, Giving me freedom of movement around the house and when i have to go out.

Portable, Silent and hidden completely - Ideal for expressing discreetly indoors and outside

The single pump is just the same as the double set. It’s a good thing to have when out and about, as its compact and can be fitted inside the bra when needed. Great to give you some freedom to move around. Control from app is helpful. Effective suction. Bit fiddly to easily see how much milk is expressed. Does have a number of parts so not the easiest to clean but this is true for most pump types. Worthwhile if you plan to express for a while and a good investment.

Golden Review Award: 35 From Our UsersPurchased this as a Christmas present for my partner who has decided to breastfeed. she had tried a manual pump and electric ones and issues with both.

the Electric-type’s before the Elvie was very loud and cumbersome so when we had seen these we were very excited to give them a try.

the pump is almost silent when in use and is very small and easy to carry around with you.

Simply charges with a standard Micro USB cable and you can get around 4 to 5 uses out of one charge from our experience.

It is easy to assemble and disassemble for cleaning and they even send you a spare Valve, Spout and clip-on bottle (with lids)

they are quite expensive and we, unfortunately, could not stretch to purchasing two of them, but they are very good quality and I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in expressing on the go.

my one and only gripe is that once turned on we can’t seem to find a way to turn of the white LED that comes on when in use, it fits discreetly into my partner’s Bra and was it not for the LED you wouldn’t even be able to tell she was expressing milk at all.

    Absolutely love i

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersBought this as we had to move to bottle feeding and have not regretted it. It’s silent, portable and works wonders. You can use the pump standalone or with the app. When using the app you can monitor how full the container is and the time spent, however the sensors may be off by about 10ml and it appears to be affected by the angle you sit at. Make sure you take the time to make sure the fit is good and the intensity is the right setting. The you may not get it with the first try but once you get the fit right it works wonders.

This is a great pump, the suction is powerful enough but it is quiet and enables me to pump whilst doing a range of other tasks so saves me a huge amount of time. Given I only have a single pump I’m not sure I would wear this outside to pump as it does obviously make your chest look uneven but it great for at home. I’m really pleased with the pump. I haven’t given 5 stars because although it is Great the price tag is hefty.

I am so grateful that this pump has been on the market since the arrival of my little girl. It has given me the freedom to pump when needed without having to be plugged into a wall, and without much input from me. The Elvie pump is well designed, beautifully packaged, and gets the job done with ease. On the few occasions that I’ve had trouble with leaking and strange noises (which you might read about in reviews elsewhere), the customer service team has been quick to assist me in rectifying the problem myself (for example, position the flange differently or ensure that the parts are 100% dry before using) or sending me a replacement part if necessary.

This is one of the more expensive electric breast pumps on the market, but is well worth the investment if you want to be able to pump discretely with your hands free!

This is such a great product, it should be on every new parent’s baby shopping list. Yes it’s pricey but it makes expressing a total breeze, particularly when you are getting to grips with so many other things when looking after a new baby. It genuinely is virtually silent so you can express whilst little one is feeding on the other side, or sleeping; it’s so comfortable to wear and to fit; it sits neatly in your bra, allowing you to continue to move around whilst you express; it’s easy to clean and very durable. Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAbsolutely game changing technology. This pump came out two months after I had my son. For the first two months I used existing technology that involves walking around or sitting very upright with exposed equipment that looked like weaponry poking out from my boobs and made a horrendous sound. Cue Elvie’s release and finally (longest two months ever!) I was able to pump discretely, from anywhere unnoticeably to anyone but me and with very little sound. Honestly the most important investment I’ve made this year and a must have for any new mum who doesn’t want to be chained to her nursing chair 24/7 especially in those early days!
