A very comfortable guest bed, can easyly be stored away ready for its next use
I liked this as it was very comfortable and my feet don’t stick out the bottom and I’m 5ft 10ins
Bought for when are grandchildren stay over and are 8 year old granddaughter got to sleep in it first last night , she said it was very comfortable and she slept well all night, seems sturdy enough the mattress could be a bit thicker but should be okay for the grandkids, overall very pleased with this purchase
Thick mattress easy to move and quick to put up.
This bed is comfier then the sofa bed and air bed I have ben using and is a great set up. Cant say much yet about durability as I haven’t had it long. Only issue is that it makes noise sometimes due to the springs when you turn over or move but other then that so far it is good!
Easy to put up and put away , used on a regular basis and just needed a toppe
Very easy to assemble, felt it needed a mattress topper for added comfort, very sturdy.
Bought this for our Son, he has said it was easy to assemble only to put casters on. The bed is easy to move around and very comfortable.
Bought this for my sister to sleep in over Christmas. It was easy to put together, the casters were a bit fiddly as they kept spinning but using a spanner to tighten them helped. My sister found the bed surprisingly comfortable and had 2 good nights sleep on it. It folds easily and quickly and is small enough to store in my cupboard. Very happy with this purchase.
Bought this for a xmas guest. He loved it, very comfortable and and as a small double it was ideal for him.
Had to contact their customer service as I’d broken a castor, all my fault and I was prepared to buy a new one, without any issue they sent me one free of charge. Excellent customer service.
I liked this bed from the moment I unpacked it from its sturdy box.
Easy to assemble, comfortable mattress and I bought a fitted sheet which is made of good quality cotton and fits the mattress well. I have also sent for the cover which will make it visually good to store.
Purchased for spare room but not been used as ye
Arrived really quickly, just folds out. Headboard needs to be assembled but looks easy. Folds up and down easily. Perfect for our study (occasional bedroom)
My friend slept on it one night and said it was just like sleeping in a real bed. So good.
It stows away in in the corner ok. Only… the wheels? They don’t fit. Designers fix this.
I must say I am impressed, it holds 2 adults comfortably. It did feel like it was folding in the middle whilst on it but it hasn’t moved when it shouldn’t. So far so good
Bed has been brilliant, my only problem is after 2 half years I need a replacement slate
Can you help please
Good sturdy quality bed for the spare room would recommend
Purchased this bed for my grand child for when she comes over once a month she loves it great when folded and stored away very easy to manoeuvre yes happy thanks
Don’t like the fact that you meet in middle as this drops. Needs to be more solid in this area. Then would be grea
Brought for when we had company, i ended up sleeping in it very comfy, plenty of room for tall folk, did feel it might have collasped in middle during the night but it did not, and so easy to just fold up in morning and wheel into a big cupboard. Pleased with this bed.
The base is good but the mattress is only appropriate for children
The company offer a range of mattresses so if for adults you should spend more for an adult. Despite these remarks I am happy with my purchase
May not be comfotable for a heavy adult but is comfortable for children or light people.
Very good spare bed but two people in it found you rolled into one another – not necessarily in a second honeymoon kind of way. After a couple of nights they got used to it and slept well. My sil found it very comfortable. A great purchase for occasional visitors if you need the room for other uses.
quite comfy would have liked the mattress a bit thicke
Sturdy, easy to assemble and disassemble. Used by adult visitor who, next morning, reported a good and comfortable nights sleep. Recommended !!
I have been looking for a double folding bed with table top for my spare room, for when the grandchildren stay. Had a blow up mattress in a case but it developed a puncture.
I had one of these beds many years ago and it had lasted years previously belonging to mother-in-law, so hopefully will get a many year service from this new bed.
Easy to put together comfortable for staying guests. Easy to store
So quick and easy to unfold and vice versa. Very handy for occasional guests. Doesn’t take up too much space. Headboard and wheels easy to attach, just took a few minutes.
Great little extra bed. It’s a little difficult to assemble but other than that it’s fine, Had a broken 1 sent had to get another, it’s big enough for adults
We bought this for our 6 year old for a few months to sleep on every night. She doesn’t complain about the comfort and sleeps through the night no problem. Every day the bed is folded up and unfolded each evening. It is very easy to fold up and unfold tak8ng hardly any time. Very happy with it.
Very good service from the company.
Quick to assemble.
3 generations of sleepers have found the bed and mattress combination very comfortable.
A bit small for two people and tend to roll into the middle- but good for when you need something more than sleeping on the floor! Easy to assemble, and put away for future use.
Just the right size, also suitable for adults. Comfortable & easy to move abou
This is a very good bed but a bit pricey
we have the single version – we added this to save my back making up the floor level sofa bed we had – space saving and comfy from experience of the single so great investment to have multi use of the spare room.
WE WERE VERY WITH THE PRODUCT WE WILL RECOMEND IT ANY ONE
THANKS FOR YOUR SERVICE
Bought as a temporary bed for daughters visit that’s lasted a year. She’s still sleeping on it and not moved out yet, so it can’t be bad enough. Wish I’d paid less, she might have gone by now. Thanks Jay-be. I’ll never get rid of her now! Great bed though. A lot better than the crappy sprung supported tat.
Bought this temporary bed for the time the builders were in, smashing up the house. I’ve been using it for 10 weeks with a couple more to come! Being as its only meant to be temporary its done rather well. I’ve survived without back ache, which was my main concern in the beginning. Yes, the mattress is a bit short for the frame, and you end up with your feet either waving in space or on the bar at the foot end(I’m just under 6′). I used 2 pillows, the under one to fill the mattress gap at the head end and then the upper one didn’t sink into the gap. Build quality is good, nothing has broken/fallen off after 10 weeks of use, so not a bad user test!
I’m not of heavy build, so its open to conjecture/heavier user’s feed back, as to how it would perform with greater weight over a long period, and whether the supporting mesh would be sufficient to prevent poor sleeping/backache events.
So for an average weight/height human it was a good buy and may well serve as a good temporary bed for the future.
This is a sturdy guest bed and easy to assemble very pleased with it mattress is good
Really good bed. Only drawback is that it is a very small double bed and 2 people of average size don’t fit comfortably.
I saw this exact bed in John Lewis for a higher price, so was happy to purchase here. Bed is high quality, comfortable and the headboard is a nice touch.
Easy to assemble and easy to wheel about my home. Glad I went for this model rather than the cheaper one, as this mattress is far superior (again physically saw the cheaper model in John Lewis before buying here.
Great bed for the money!
Delivered on time, we find the bed easy to use.would recommend this bed.
I brought this folding bed as i had guests staying over, they said the bed was so comfortable and they had a goodnights sleep, this what you would want to hear from any guest staying over. The mattress is very soft and comfortable, the bed is slightly low but that is not a problem.
Easy to assemble, and fold away for storage, good for occasional use as guest bed, mattress not very thick but that’s what makes it easy to store.
Excellent product. Was missing a spring on bottom. Contacted customer services. Sent pack of springs and fitting tool next day. The spring was easily replaced. Top service. Would use again.
I haven’t slept in this bed but tested it out. It seems to be sturdy enough and definitely looks good in our spare room. We have put a sheet of foam under the mattress to add to the thickness and to make sure it is comfortable. Very pleased with it.
Very comfortable and at 5’9 I and fit on it nicely. It’s easy to fold out and back up again. Plus it’s compact for storing. Only lost a star as I had to have new castors sent to me, because they sent the wrong ones initially. All covered under lifetime guarantee though and sorted very quickly.
We’ve not used it yet so this review is a little premature. But saying that it arrive sooner than expected and putting it together was simple. We tried it as you do then folded it up ready for when we need it. It looks good.
We’ve had our Granddaughter stay over the weekend and she loved sleeping in her new bed. So thumbs up
Excellent product;I purchased it to replace an old one that had seen better days
Have no problem recommending this bed slept on it for 5 nights when i had visitors .As comfortable as my own bed !
A great bed for occasional use, and perfect for my young grandson. Mattress is fine, albeit a bit thin but comfortable, especially with the spring base (better than wooden slats). To unfold the bed you need to open it out and push down on either end, whereas the video and instructions imply that you can fold one end out at a time, which simply isn’t possible (but not an issue). Having the headboard is great and when folded is easy to move around on the wheels provided. I have read other comments where the bed rocks back and forth top-to-bottom due to the middle legs not sitting quite right – I contacted Jay-Be Service via email and they responded stating:
‘The best solution is to remove the headboard, remove the mattress and turn the bed upside down so that the legs are pointing in the air. Then apply some pressure to the two middle legs, when you turn it back the right way it should be level. We have found that the rivets that secure the middle legs are being put on a little bit tight which makes it a little bit stiff to begin with. This should ease up with use.’
The above advise worked a treat. We simply turned the bed upside down as advised, pushed down on the middle legs until the frame hits the floor (bowing downwards), held it for a minute and everything was fine. It now sits perfectly level.
Because the mattress folds in the middle after storage, it is a good idea to turn the mattress upside down after unfolding it ready for use.
Grandson thinks it’s great, rocks a bit as the legs are not level.
Very simple to unfold.
This makes a very handy guest bed. Good service. Thanks
I’ve actually slept on this put you up before my overflow guests and I found it quite comfortable which allayed my fears about using it for guests,so no worries on that score, good buy.
Perect for my grand child to stop at a moments notice
Bought this for my mum to sleep on over christmas. It arrived promptly and was well packaged in a box. Assemblt took no more than two minutes. It folds out easily and is nice and stable. The matress is comfy enough, especially if its just for a night or two, the headboard helps keep the pillows in place.
I would recommebd this product as an occasional use guest bed
Someone is comfy. Some of the welding is a bit shoddy. Coating of metal could be better too.
Speaking as a 56 year old lady of under 9 stone, it was easy to get it into my Golf (while packaged) and up the stairs on my own. Even easier to assemble (I did it with just the allen keys supplied and my fingers). I’ve slept in it several times now – the matress is thin but it helps to use a double duvet folded in half and sleep between the layers. Adequate as a spare bed but not sure it would work well for bigger/heavier visitors
This bed is very comfortable easy to use and store away nicely with the headboard making a shelf when folded.
Good quality frame and folding mechanism. Mattress a little thin but OK.
This bed is perfect for occasional use, and folds up neatly for storage at other times. The castors on the bottom make is very easy to move around, and although it is sturdy, it is very light. I found it very easy to get it up and running out of the box, although I haven’t needed to fit the headboard yet. The bed itself is comfortable and the mattress is supportive of the back and quite soft on the sprung base. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to use this long-term, but for me, it’s perfect to keep ready, all neat and tidy in my spare room, rather than the mattress on the floor arrangement I used to have, which was probably uncomfortable for the visitor, and took up a large amount of space when not in use. We could also take this with us to stay with someone else house, if necessary. This is a perfect solution to the annual Christmas visitor problem.
This is a really sturdy and substantial ready bed for guests. It’s comfy, and provides a good night sleep. It is fairly large to store, as it is a full sized single bed so be aware of that as although it folds, I still found it quite bulky. It is much bigger in storage than an air bed, but it does provide a better sleep, and less effort required with this. If you have regular guests, then it would be a good optio
First off, don’t be thinking this is a full size double, it isn’t, its 4ft wide, which although it does fit 2 people they have to like each other. In addition, the mesh base of this model does make for a little more roll together than the slatted version. Havign said that, its really very comfortable, though the mattress is pretty thin, and for a few nights for two it is very welcome. As a guest bed for one, it provides extra space and comfort while not demanding much more storage room.
The frame action is smootha nd quick, with no removing and replacing the mattress needed. The legs are solid and firm, and although you don’t have to fit the headboard, it does keep the pillows in place. No real assembly involved, just castors screw on and headboard bolts on. This Airflow mattress is the entry level model, Jaybe use several variants on the same frame. To be honest if its for occasional use I think this type is adequate though for regular use(and this is approved) you might want to look at the dearer versions.
get a cover for it and it really takes up vastly less space than a proper bed but offers a pretty good degree of comfort. Muchbetter in my opinion than futons, blow-ups etc.
If your looking for a top quality folding double bed for those visitors who enjoy a good comfortable nights sleep, then this luxury JAY-BE bed is the one you should choose.. I have used JAY-Be beds for more years than I care to mention and always found the quality and comfort exceptional. They are compact when folded and fit neatly in a corner of a bedroom or as I do, keep it in the cupboard on the landing. The bed arrives with only the castors and headboard to be simply fitted. the headboard comes with the fitting and instructions on how to do this. The castors need a small 12mm spanner to tighten up, but hand tight is quite tight enough. The frame as with all JAY-Be beds comes with a lifetime guarantee and is British made. The bed comes in a variety of mattresses to suit your particular needs. This bed which is a double, comes with a Breathable Airflow Fibre mattress to help regulate body temperature. My visitor have remarked on how great a nights sleep they have had on the bed. The dimension of this bed should anyone need them are, Height 51cm (Top of Headboard), Height 38.5cm (Top of mattress), Width 122cm, Length 197cm. / Folded: Height 97cm, Width 122cm, Depth 29cm. Clearance under bed: 23.5cm….I can’t fault the bed in anyway, so therefore it’s 5* from me folks.
Let’s start by saying that the airflow mattress isn’t an inflatable mattress. This is a fairly standard foldable bed with a better than average mattress. I don’t quite get the need for the headboard, but you can set up without it. My problem is space rather than comfort. I have a garage to store this, but otherwise it would not fit anywhere. I think for the occasional guest you are better off with an inflatable. If you need something off the floor, I would recommend an additional top mattress for strength and comfort.
I have used a fair number of guest beds over the years, from futons (never again) to blow up divans (no) and I keep returning to Jay be’s offerings. There is a wide range of models and sizes, refreshed each year, and with a bit of care choosing, you will find one to suit you. While no folding bed can match up to a first quality proper bed, I think these do a good job and fold away neatly to give more space in your room.
The New Supreme comes in a box, with just the castors and headboard to attach. Dont be daunted by this, its easy, the castors are the type with a threaded shaft which screws into the frame and can be tightened with a spaner. One point, why not include the spanner? Much easier to fit though than the push in type. The headbosrd fits simply with bolts and an allen key which are all included.
As you unfold the bed, the legs move into position and its ready to make up with sheets and blankets in a few seconds. There is enough room to leave a fitted sheet on, but the blankets or duvets will need somewhere to stay. I use elastcated cotton jersey sheets from Lidl for these beds, theyre cmfortable and have enough stretch to accommodate different sizes neatly. You can also buy dedicated sized sheets from amazon.
There are some models in the range with no headboard but I think its very helpful for keeping the pillows in place especially if you dont have wall space.
This mattress is the entry level model. Its covered in a slightly shiny striped fabric and feels soft. I made up the bed with an extra underblanket for protection and a bit more luxury, and off to sleep.
Im not a great sleeper at the best of times, and away from my own bed usually worse. However, in themorning I woke up refresshed and wit none of the aches and pains which sometimes come with folding beds. I find this basic mattress very comfortable and am happy to offe it to my guests. The bed folds awya in the morning and stands unobtrusively against the wall. I covered mine with a handy blanket held inplace with clothese pegs but you can buy a separate cover, and in the past I have made covers myself from curtain fabric for a tidier look.
The headboard does make a useful flat surface when folded but on this bed it wasnt quite level: I dont know if that is a fault or just teh design, or maybe the way I have fitted it. No matter, it didnt affect the use.
I will monitor how the mattress setlles and compresses with repeated use, but as it is, I highly recommend this bed if you are looking for a simple comfortable solution to the guest bed problem.
Anyone familiar with a folding guest bed will know the type of bed this is, its no different to any I’ve seen and used in the passed, apart from the mattress.
Build quality is very good, I’d expect this from JAY-BE, our lads bed is one of the bunk type which is made by JAT-BE and its excellent quality.
The bed frame and mattress is very light to lift and move, has wheels on the base which help move it from room to room.
I’m 6′ 1″ and do find this type of bed a bit on the small size, this isn’t to bad, I’m just about on it, but to much moving and I’d be off.
The mattress is extra padded with Breathable Airflow Fibre which regulates body temperature, allegedly.
My lad is 13 and has a few friends over from time to time for sleep overs, this is an ideal bed for such occasions, a couple of inflatables and this and there all sorted.
Anyone looking for a Z-bed then this would be ideal, its quality, excellent mattress, and folds easy away.
We sometimes have guests over and when you are pushed for space as we are, fold down beds like the Jay-Be can be a godsend. This one has a thicker mattress than the one I had been using. I was glad to get rid of that because my guests had complained they could feel the bed frame through the mattress leading to an uncomfortable sleep.
Not so here. the mattress on this model is much thicker leading to greater comfort.
The bed is really compact when folded and fits nicely into quite small spaces and is on wheels which takes away the back strain from moving it around. It folds away with the mattress still on the frame- not always the case with cheaper models. It is easy to get it ready for guests as it has automatic folding legs so no puzzling out which part to fold first.
But for me the crowning glory is the headboard – my previous models came without one , leading to midnight hunts for fallen pillows or even worse a cricked neck in the morning.
This model is not top of the range in regard to JAY-BE folding beds; nevertheless it is a lot better than any of the folding beds I have previously owned. So if you want a good, comfortable guest bed without having to remortgage your house, this could be for you.
We have always used Jay-Be guest beds for many years, and this one is one of the very nicest ones we’ve used so far.
It’s got a thicker mattress, which is sprung, and it has a super easy-open frame which basically lowers the legs by itself, so there is less chance of pinching your fingers.
The frame is really good quality, it’s powder-coated, so it’s very tough, and the tubes are big diameter for extra strength. The bed also comes with solid, smart casters, so it can easily be wheeled from room to room.
There is also a headboard included with this model, which my other guest bed doesn’t have. The headboard, when combined with the luxury sprung mattress, definitely adds more refinement to the bed, making it look more sunstantial than the slimline version which has fewer features. But this bed is slightly larger when it’s folded away as a consequence, so bear this in mind when you consider which one is right for you.
These Jay-Be beds are our go-to brand when we need guest beds. I love them.
5 stars.
I think the Jay-Be is a good occasional bed which is very functional. I’m glad it fits in one of our cupboards and benefits greatly from having the castors put on and even the headboard so you can wheel it around with ease and use the headboard as a shelf while it’s not being used. Assembly didn’t take long (you need a spanner which isn’t provided to tighten the castors) and it’s all pretty self explanatory. I worried it might be quite short but I’d say it was the perfect length for me at 5ft 6. I just don’t like the headboard. I get why it’s there as it stops your pillow falling off the bed if it’s not against a wall but the pain when you lift your head in the night and whack it off the edge is not pleasant!
The mattress needs to be turned over when you use it as it does dip where it has been folded. It is very light so easy to flip over and around 8cm thick which I worried might be a bit thin but with the mesh and springs on the base wasn’t uncomfortable. I wouldn’t use this bed regularly but it is very handy to have in the house for guest use rather than using a blow up mattress which usually deflates before morning!
I’ve never used one of these beds or had any experience with them. However, what a pleasant surprise.
With my niece and nephew often having a sleep over we had started looking at inflatable mattresses. They are ok but nothing beats a proper mattress.
It arrived in a compact, but large box which surprised me. Once I got the packaging off, the bed needs some very minor assembly. This involved attaching some castors and the head board. I had some help with that which made it easier.
The bed is very well made and the quality is great for the price. The mattress isn’t something I would sleep on routinely but as an occaisonal sleeper its fine, it airs on the medium soft side, most likely to enable it to fold easily.
As I mentioned the bed is great for occasional use. It folds away very neatly and overall its a superb bed. I’m reassured it’s a british made product with easy access to helpline numbers etc
This bed is much easier to set up than I thought it would be. It isn’t hugely light, but is very compact and folds up neatly with plastic hooks which keep it tight. It is sturdy and the mattress is comfortable although personally I like mattresses a bit firmer. Still, for a foldable mattress this is good quality.
All you need to do is put the castors on the bed (you need a spanner to tighten them, which isn’t included) and then add the headboard. This was the hardest bit to be honest and it took me a while to figure it out, so I’ve taken some photos to show what you should put where. 2 allen keys are provided for this purpose as well.
Once the castors are on the bed folds up and is easy to roll across the floor. If you have any problems, Jay-Be have included clear customer services details which is reassuring – and thankfully, they’re in English!
I am very impressed by this bed and would recommend it to anyone.
Good basic bed and reasonably comfortable. A bit disappointed that the mattress depth is actually 8cm and not 10cm as described. It seems to me to dip slightly in the middle but then made sure that the middle legs were pushed right in to raise it which helped slightly. The mattress dips slightly too because of the folding.
I spent ages researching all the Jay-Be beds and reading countless reviews before picking this, mainly because of the deeper mattress (?), the fact that the base is mesh rather than slats as so many reviewers had had problems with those, it is slightly higher off the floor – roughly normal chair seat height and it is quite long – the mattress is only 3cm shorter(187) than a standard one. I wonder though if it would not have dipped in middle with slats as the springs are further apart in the middle so less support! I also rang Jay-Be to get more info as wondered about a pocket sprung mattress but was assured the foam is just as good and just down to personal preference. Although no reviews on Amazon, there were quite a few positive ones on Argos.
I wanted a decent bed as I have paying visitors and this was an extra. Although I found it OK to sleep on, I have now bought an extra 10cm foam mattress which is quite firm and added it to the bed, i.e. have 2 mattresses on so bed is now also higher , firmer and dips less – problem solved!
I have not as yet added the headboard (not really needed) or the castors as spent ages debating whether to send it back but in the end bought the extra mattress as have a guest now booked in.
Used a lot and mattress very comfortable. One of the wood slats split probably because it was sat on too heavily. It is low (15″ from the floor) so go carefully when you sit/lie on it. I phoned the company when it happened and nothing was too much trouble. New slat in post and received the next day.
Arrived on time, well packaged, bed is comfortable and folds away and opens easily and is quite compact. My mum has slept on it when she visited and found it very comfortable, in fact her husband had purchased a much more expensive bulkier zed bed for the grandkids and my mum has since asked me to order this bed for them instead as it’s a third the price and just as comfy but way easier to fold out.
I’m 6’1″ so my feet are at the end of the bed, but I still get a good night’s sleep. It’s easy to open and store away and the black cover that comes with it is very useful.
After a year one of the slats broke during use and one of the wheels broke when moving the bed to anther room. I e-mailed ‘Jay-Be’ and within a couple of days they replaced the items without question. Hats off to ‘Jay-Be’ for great support.
OK, we got it in the sale but we were quite prepared to pay full price, as we’d had a similar Jay-Be before.
Considering how “thin” the mattress appears when you unpack it: the comfort it affords is absolutely superb and that added to the sprung wooden slatted base gives an unequaled level of support and luxury.
If you want need an occasional bed and you don’t want to treat you guests like second-class citizens, get one of these.
The only down-side is your guest may never leave!
