You’ll need your own quality USB C cable – either a 90 degree like it comes with or with an adapter.
The OEM cable is total garbage and didn’t work on any system I tried it with and also had trouble with other USB devices.
Not the end of the world but it loses a star just for that inconvenience and $10-20 added cost.
The mic itself is fantastic sounding.
Build could be a tiny bit more refined with better buttons and, if you care, brighter LEDs.
Otherwise solid.
A very nice microphone! Based on statistics i checked and some reviews – it is the best, in my opinion, for the price class.
Il microfono funziona perfettamente, bastato collegarlo al pc per essere gi pronto a funzionare al massimo
I feel like the yeti sets the standard for USB mics and this was on sale so we tried it. I am glad we did. I would highly recommend but not at full price. It does have some sound issues. It seems to vary between muting and unmuting. We have even had to reboot the entire pc to correct it. No explanation why it’ll just get a little low and muffled. The yetis haven’t done that. So the RGB is really nice and aesthetically it is beautiful but it should be more consistent in my opinion because when it works the sounds is solid.
Basically the same as a USB-plugged Yeti Pro, for half the price. I’d venture a guess that this is the best USB microphone on the market.
I know I should probably want a more well-known brand (Rode, Yeti), but honestly, I love this mic! Bought it at a Best Buy a couple years ago, then accidentally smashed the USB recently so had to buy a new one. The sound quality for this thing is great, I do lots of trainings/workshops/etc for clients, and never get any complaints about sound quality! I also use it to record my podcast (if you want Business Coaching advice, check out Selling Chocolate anywhere you listen to podcasts), and my podcast producer says my sound quality is very professional! I do only use it to record myself, not multiple people, so I dont know how well the sound works for that. But for basic podcasting and Zoom, its wonderful.
My grandson was thrilled with the microphone, it was a gift for his 13th birthday. It was installed immediately. Great pick up of sound, he was called from downstairs and the recipient of the call heard every word!!! Be careful what you say!
I got the JLAB Mic for just over half on Amazon for what it is at Best Buy. It’s a solid mic, great quality (see various other reviews on youtube for this mic as well for details) in my case the carthoid setting is the best quality. Put in a pop filter on top of it and it’s good to go. My ONLY and no starts gripe for this is the lack of a 3.5mm connection. I would like to use this in other situations. However Im happy for PC use as is.
Simple to use and a great little piece of ki
I replaced my (borrowed) high end Schure mic and Auphonix screen/mic guard with the JLab Talk Pro. I’m very pleased and my podcast partner/producer agrees that the fidelity is not diminished in any way. A full, rich, studio quality sound blows my Jabra top tier headset out of the water. Easy to use, unobtrusive. Multi-vocal direction options – single user (very directed sound input), two user, group, room. And…you don’t have to be one inch from the mic to get the full tonal rich sound thus it’s unobtrusive, visually for folks on the other side of a video call.
This Lab Talk Pro USB Microphone | USB-C Output offers a good set of adjustments when video-conferencing. Its’ capability to noise cancel ambient sounds is outstanding. Highly recommend. I use it on a MacBook Pro (2019) with not troubles. Works perfectly as ‘plug-and-play’ with all video-conferencing applications I use.
Even when the mic is powered off it still picks up audio and plays it through the aux out port on the back of the mic. Very annoying. Maybe that’s not what the port is for? No idea why it works this way. It creates a constant feedback loop if the aux is hooked up to a speaker rather than headphones. When using headphone I just hear what the mic hears amplified alongside whatever I’m listening to. Example: lightly tapping a pen on the desk sounds crazy loud.
I love it so far. If you have problems with CONNECTION and get any ERROR MSG POPUP on your pc or no matter what pc you plug it into.. im 98% sure.. its likely the cable. Just email JLabs and they will send you a new replacement cable for free that’s what I did. Of course you need to provide proof of purchase. I hooked it up via USB 3.0 and After that it worked great for me. I gave it a 5 because for the price this thing is really good sounds great for what I need it for and people on the other end say they can hear me very clear now and it works great for streaming.
I’ve been using it for streaming and remote table top role playing. It’s been awesome!
Used this for zoom bass lessons on omnidirectional mode. Worked awesome could hear me talk and clearly hear bass guitar too when played. Also used cardiod mode to mic my amp to record a bass cover, again flawless! I highly recommend this over yeti I have used both!
Voice is clear and does whatever it needs to do, however the cable it came with packaging did not work so I had to get another cable myself for it to work.
This is not just a normal microphone. It is SO MUCH better! Sound quality is amazing for the price tag and the ability to switch between cardioid and omnidirectional comes in handy. I’ve primarily used it for streaming so far, and I couldn’t be happier with this product!
I brought this microphone to use for my YouTube channel to make videos. so far the microphone works great. I use it in the Cardioid pattern when I make YouTube videos from my laptop. If you are looking for a budget microphone, the JLab Talk GO USB Microphone is definitely worth the money. 🙂
This microphone is great for starting out on YouTube, doing podcasts, interviews, group podcasts, group podcasts, gaming, streaming, the possibilities are endless.
he mic quality blows away my yetti snowball. the omi vs directional setting can be pretty useful depending what you are doing. the mic monitoring feature works very well with 0 delay at all. the only hiccup in that feature is that windows treats the mic like another speaker output but I think its probably the best way it can be handled without additional software, and if you know your way around windows audio options you can make everything work great.
The mic also has a built in foam pop filter that so far seems to have worked great (though admittingly I use it indoors and tend not to sit super close to the mic)
Also, I was honestly surprised at how nice the included stand is, in the sense that it seems to be SOLID extruded (maybe?) aluminum, anodized a nice black.
Nicely integrates with MS teams and other software. Works just like described.
Received promptly, quite intuitive on how to use. It works well.
I’d had nothing but troubles trying to get non-USB microphones to work with my MacBook Pro.
This USB microphone was easy to setup (no work!), and easy to use!
I like the fact that there are four settings for sound coverage (audio patterns).
Sound quality is very good.
If stars were accurate and not a game this would be a 3 to 4. Giving it a 5 star because that is how the game is played. Let’s face it anything above a 3 should mean it works and is reliable. A 5 star should come with a office kitten or free cake. Alas, this did not come with either. But 5 stars so it stays near the top of the algorithm.
Perfectly adequate for the job. Reliable. Fairly rugged. A good solid workhorse of a microphone for meetings. Working better than our old Snowball. No complaints about being able to hear us, except from those folks who do not turn on their sound(And that is a them issue not due to the mic.) Unlike the Snowball (Mini usb) this usb (Micro B) connection is much more common. So if you lose the power/connection cord, you most likely have a replacement one sitting around.
It’s also not as expensive as the Snowball. So I would go with this one over the Snowball.
Cheers.
It’s a little bit of a hassle setting up, and running vs a headset but it works. Sound quality isn’t amazing, but not bad either, if you would like slightly better audio quality than it will work, though I do recommend a mic arm, this will pick up basically any mechanical keyboard, as well any possible noise if you bump your desk with it sitting on the desk.
Mic arm is recommended just due to it being easier to isolate background noise, if you do use this on the desk try to place it at a 45 degree angle from your mouth as this doesn’t include a pop filter, and is really sensitive to plosive, and breathing noises.
Excellent quality sound for the price. I have no issues with the USB-C interface, but definitely think they could have done a better job of communicating *where* the USB-C connection is and how the device interfaces externally.
So full disclosure: in my first attempts to set up this microphone, it did not work. It would not connect to any of my devices and I found out that if I used a different USB-C cable, something other than the cable provided, the Microphone would work; however, it sounded terrible, it would peak regardless of my gain or volume settings, it would have this metallic quality to the sound and it was so very muffled and no changing the settings would fix it.
I assumed that was how the microphone was supposed to sound and that the cable was broken. I ended up submitting a return request but a few days later the PC I had been using, a rather old one at that, died. Over the memorial day weekend, while the ups office was closed, I built and assembled a new PC, and since the Microphone was still here, I set it up again, giving it the benefit of the doubt.
It was the right call. The microphone sounds lovely, the gain works perfectly find and now instead of that metallic sound with the high pitch whine, I get this full warm tone to everything and it’s just lovely, a great microphone and one that I can recommend alongside Microphones like the Yeti from Blue Microphone or the Quadcast from HyperX.
However, buy this microphone at your own risk, I had a terrible first experience, and giving the microphone a second try was not an easy decision. When the Microphone works, it works great but when your computer isn’t compatible with it, you would think it was some cheap 20 dollar microphone.
super. viel einfacher als das AKG Lyra in der Aussteuerung . Ein No-Braine
This microphone for the most part works great. The only flaw I have found is when using Cardioid setting, it still picks up a lot of the background sound. As far as the sound quality it picks up is great. I have only used this for conference calls/video chats, and all other people have had zero issues hearing or understanding me. Have not tried using it for gaming.
The sound quality is very good for virtual meetings and recordings. It’s a good value desktop mic. I have a number of jLab products, and I’m typically satisfied with the quality and the value of the headphones and mics I’ve purchased.
Amazing mic quality. Very handy and now I can not live without i
I reviewed and research extensively before purchasing the JLabs Talk Pro mic and I’m happy that the reviews match the experience I’ve had. The features are great and the installation was a snap. Highly recommended.
EDIT: Original review below, but I’ve change it to 5 stars as my previous tests were not good. I re-tested the Mic by doing a screen recording in quicktime and the difference between this Mic and just using my AirPod Pros is fairly significant. It sounds better than the airpods from 18″ away (normal video call distance), blows them out of the water at 6″ away (great for screen recording), and at 3″ away… well, even better than that.
I paid $30 for this but I would’ve gladly paid $60.
—
I got the Mic for $30 and I think it’s a good deal at that price. However, I expected this thing to sound better than my AirPod Pros on video calls but they don’t. To be clear, they COULD sound better than my airpods if I spoke directly into them 2″ away from the mic, but that’s simply not how people take calls.
I gave it 4 stars because it’s a great deal at $30 and i’ll be using it to record things like Product Demos where it isn’t odd that I’m close to the mic.
Product seems durable, and works well for our use. It is a little bigger, but I think that is to be expected.
Great little addition to the gaming setup. Awsome for a lowww price.
I’m an audio engineer. This mic is the single clearest, brightest, most sensitive, best mic I’ve ever owned. It blows away all my other, more expensive mics. I love the 192kHz sample rate. Bravo JLab!!!!!!! Thank you so much for this wonderful excellent design.
I was fed up with everyone saying they couldn’t hear me on zoom calls with the built in mic on my laptop so bought this. Really good quality for the price, no more complaints from others not being able to hear me! The way the stand can be adjusted is cool, the way it folds out for any position you need, and folds back small again is great if you need it to be portable. I was actually quite surprised by the quality of the sound too. This mic would also be perfect for someone starting their own podcast or making music at home. All in all, a great product.
I purchased this mic for my Sunday School class. Fully vacuumed members attend class in person while the rest of us are on Zoom. The mic is on the center of the table allowing everyone in the room to be heard by those on Zoom. Works great. Easy to setup and use. As a MacBook Air user, a usb-c plug would be great so I wouldn’t need an adapter. For the price, this works great.
super sensitive microphone and good audio output. I could hear every sound around me, even the clock ticking on the wall
Excellent little mic for a good price. My 10 year old son just started a YouTube channel and this is the mic he is using. Pretty good sound quality and small and compact so it easily fits on his desk. Check out the quality of the sound on YouTube. Just search for DavidJPlays and if you wouldn’t mind, subscribe and like the videos.
I have now been using this microphone for a week for my work conferences that I lead, all clients have commented on how clear my sound is projected onto their computers. It was extremely easy to set up and can sit on your desk taking up minimal space.
My Best Buy in COVID times!
I bought it to help my students on zoom and in my classroom hear each other better. And yes! Success!
First – the mic is fantastic. Produces a warm, full recording of my voice. Exactly what I needed for online meetings. Minor issues – the connector to the tripod is for tripod only. I needed to clamp the tripod into a holder in order to make it work for me. Should be a standard screw connection so any tripod could be used. Mic should have an off button, as the blue light will stay on all the time. But again – great recording voice.
Does what it says on the tin and does it very well!!! Very happy with he price, spec and build quality. As expected from JLab’s another great product!!!
Attached a little box opening video if this helps anyone.
A gift to my 13 year old son. He loves it!
I bought two of these for my podcast cast and they sound great. To me they sound better than the razer siren and yeti mic that I have. The only problem I had is during the first recording garage band got a little confused but once I acknowledge the message I had no more hiccups. Love the led and adapter it comes with. Very versatile and again sound quality is top notch. Better than a lot of the $100 plus mics!
Mic is well designed and works very well. The tripod stand is free floating so it is not as sturdy as expected.
I’m a stenographer, and this is the best mike I have ever used! The clarity is crystal-clear, and it’s so easy to use, no on-off switch to worry about. It even captures the four-voice on Zoom depositions and hearings beautifully. I would highly recommend this microphone!
I’m new to YouTube and as much as I wanted an expensive mic I can’t afford it. I got this on a whim and I am so happy I did! The sound quality is great and with a simple $5 adapter I am able to use it while recording from my phone. Highly recommend if you are looking to upgrade your audio quality.
I bought this for my son to replace a dying microphone. He loves it for the recording capabilities and weight. His old microphone was too heavy to use with a microphone arm. This one was fairly light.
It goes with a short stand to use on a tabletop or desk. The stand is easily removable so you can use other types of stands.
Unfortunately his computer did not recognize this plug n play mic. There’s nothing to download to make it work. I decided to replace his usb wire that came in the box with another one and “wallah”, it worked! It’s an older computer, so perhaps that played into it not working out of the box. It worked on newer laptops and computers in my home.
There are rgb lights that might be nice for gamers. My son felt distracted by it. We eventually taped up all lights with black wiring tape because it’s constantly on for mute and direction types.
The mute button is an important feature. No need to unplug the mic or hassle with the computer to do it. All controls are on the mic itself.
My son uses his mic for gaming and zooming for school. He has used it to do recordings for school projects and finds that it does it’s job superbly. He’s picky so that says a lot. And he takes a long time researching his electronics.
We’ve had this mic for awhile already and it’s still going. He uses it for about 12 to 16 hours a day, everyday.
I like the size and quality of the mike. The recording sound is so much better and gives me more control over my work.
I work from home full time now. I was tired of wearing headsets. I decided to take a chance with this microphone. I have no regrets. I use it with Microsoft teams. I’m told by those I communicate with that the sound quality is great. I also use it for gaming. It was a little pricey for me, but so far I’m happy with it. The only thing I could really complain about is the device is pretty big. I thought it was half the size it actually is. The mic stand is a very nice addition and helps make it more valuable. I’ve heard some complain it feels cheap. I don’t have anything to base a comparison on. I did not think it felt cheap.
I’ve only used it once. Really cool product. Worth the money
So far everything about this product i’ve enjoyed. The clarity of sound is good and its easy to pick me up when I talk or even when I do things louder than talk like sing or whatnot. I’ve enjoyed the product thoroughly.
Insanely good sound quality right out of the box with no processing. I was worried about build quality but once you have it in you hands the parts that matter are solid. I don’t like the 3 light colors for different modes. I wish the LED color was selectable but that’s a small gripe for how insanely good this mic is. I haven’t found anything comparable in this price range. Crazy good value for the money. I am definitely buying another one when the time comes.
Sound doesn’t come right out of the mic, but you can plug in an external speaker to the mic itself and the mic doesn’t pick up the noise from the speaker.
I am really happy about this purchase. I am on zoom approx 6-8 hours a day. I have always used headsets, but the problem I was running into was that after 6+ hours on the phone I was losing my voice. I figured our that while wearing headphone with passive noise canceling I was speaking at a higher volume to compensate for not hearing my voice. This microphone has changed that completely. I am speaking at a normal tone or even lower than usual, and when I go back and listen to my zoom meeting it is crystal clear. Do not hesitate if you are on the fence about buying the PRO or one mode lower. This will be fantastic for work. I cannot speak to musical production.
Es un buen producto que cumple con lo prometido, tiene una gran calidad de audio y sus mandos son muy intuitivos y prcticos a la hora de utilizarlos.
I used a USB-C to USB-C cable to plug this directly into my macbook pro, and my meetings, recorded lectures, and youtube videos have been great.
Cardioid pattern recording is perfect. Once, a noise out in the hallway was so loud that it distracted me, but it wasn’t even heard in the later recording.
Works really good, easy to set up, great voice quality
originally got a defect, so glad i got it replaced because this mic is a piece of a
Mic is great for recording and conference calls.
Nice that there is a mute button right in front but the problem is the mute button toggle can be heard as a loud click on the audio. Would of gave it 5 stars if it was quieter or just using capacitive touch.
This mic has the same specs as one of the Blue Mics which my brother has. We realized during a solid game sesh, my mic sounds better. The blue LED on the bottom is cool. I have it suspended from a boom… The one thing that is a bit annoying is that I cannot find a shock mount that will work with the knobs and mute button.. Tho I spent a little extra on the boom and it seems to be fine without feedback from desk bumps or me moving it around.
All in all, if you are on the fence and dont want to shell out the money for the Blue Mic.. Get this one. The sound is great, the feel is classy, the look is appealing.
Solid product, very good sound quality. Prices to value ratio is very good.
I honestly am in love with this, I also bought an arm for the mic, and it’s the best beginner mic set up eve
I got this so we could make live video with high quality audio using a cell phone. We might be playing music on a mountaintop or ridgeline one week and in a city park the next week.
This mic is awesome, and it works well with a Samsung Note20 5G Android phone. Excellent sound, in stereo, no worries connecting (with a simple adapter), and only minimal stuff to haul in when we make a recording.
Why only 4 stars?
I tried contacting tech support to see if it would work with my phone and the only response was that they would contact me in one or two days. That was last week. Don’t count on getting tech support.
It does not come with a wind screen. Just a bit of foam or fake fur would have done the trick. Wind noise can be quite considerable. Still, I don’t consider this a major problem because I still might be able to find a good one that fits. If nothing else I can break out the sewing kit and make something or just use an old sock, but the sound quality would suffer.
It does not come with a pop filter. This is not a problem for me, but if you are speaking directly into it you will probably want one. Not a major issue, since you can buy a freestanding pop filter, just one more thing they seem not to have thought about.
Overall this is an excellent product. I am glad I bought it.
Blue Yetis seem to not want to compete for value, features, and quality in 2020, and El Gato mics tend to be out of most people’s ranges. I still wanted a quality microphone in the sub-100 price point that was just a step up from the Snowball and the Talk Go that I also tested, and this one is perfect. Good clear sound, really sturdy build and cord quality, and a nice stable/solid tripod stand.
I bought this mic for teaching online flute lessons. There are two problems with using a single mic and/or a single USB mic for teaching: getting the gain at the right level for speaking AND playing, and high notes on the flute distorting. Finding ONE setting that works for both always involves a compromise. I either have to speak VERY loudly, or if the gain is high enough, the flute sound overloads the mic, so I decided to look for a mic with gain control ON the mic. When I record, I use good XLR mic’s and an audio interface, but I didn’t want to have to have such an elaborate setting for teaching. I liked that this mic has the gain control knob right on it. The knob is on the back, but it is easy to access and there is an excellent display so you can see the settings: when you adjust the gain, there are lights of green bars on the front, and when you adjust the volume on the headphone jack, there are lights of blue bars. I’ve been using it for the past 2 weeks, and it’s working very well for me. I can be heard clearly when speaking or playing. I would have given it 5 stars, but the sound is a little brighter than I would like. I also love that there are 4 patterns. it’s very lightweight, which isn’t a problem for me. And it looks great !
Microphone installed quickly and looks/sounds great. The usb cable that came with it must have had a loose connection inside as the microphone would continue to connect/disconnect, no matter which usb port I used on my pc. Luckily I had a spare usb to c cable that I could use and all is well. 5 stars if the cable, that came with the mic, wasn’t bad.
