I have bought this as a birthday present and it turned out every bit as nice as I expected. It is easy to assemble, quite sturdy and it looks like it’s going to provide hours of entertainment for the little ones.

My kids (4 and 18 months) got this for Xmas and they love it! We started with it set up as a grocery store, but have since ventured out to set it up as a pet store, vet’s office, today it’s playing the part of a pretend library. Doubles as storage furniture and the perfect size for my (tall) kids. We will get a couple of years out of this one for both kids at least!

The stand took quite a while to build (35minutes) and both my husband and I ended up having to build it together as the barrel nuts and screws that hold the main poles together that make up the main inside frame of the stand were very fiddly to do. The holes for the barrel nuts were too big and so the barrel nuts slipped around inside them unless one of you held it in place with a screwdriver whilst the other screwed the screw into it from the side pieces. I wouldn’t let this put you off the stand but do be aware that it is a bit of a pain to get the first stages of the stand built. The rest of the stand was really easy to construct and it was just the first main bit that was a bit of a nuisance.
All the effort was definitely worth it though once the stand was built and my son saw it as he was made up with it and my nieces have loved playing shop with him and the stand. The grocery store/lemonade stand sign is reversible and you simply unhook it from the main poles and swap the sign around. The stand is a really good size and as another reviewer has stated I could see this lasting quite a while as one of my nieces is tall for her age and is the height of a 8 year old and the stand is still okay for her to use so if buying this when your little one is around 2 or 3 you potentially stand to get around 5 to 6 years use out of it. I have got some early learning center food and food tins which fit perfectly on the stand but I know that Melissa and Doug also do foodstuffs and in the wooden versions too and so I am going to check these out to go along with the stand.
A beautiful high quality solid wood toy that has been manufactured to a very high standard and my son and nieces adore.
I have just finished putting this item together, ready for my little girls birthday. It hasn’t been difficult to out together, and was all fairly logical.
It is of really nice quality and looks really good. It is also a good and substantial size for small children.
It can be used as either a lemonade stand or a grocery stand – I think a grocery stand will be most used here. The stand doesn’t come with any fruit or veg, so it will need to be purchased separately. I’ve noticed that the same manufacturers, Melissa and Doug, make play fruit and veg. I tend to trust them to make good quality toys, so will be purchasing their fruit and veg.
Overall, I am really pleased with how this looks. It is excellent for imaginative play and role play.

This item was delivered very quickly, the driver very helpfully carried it in as it was quite heavy. I have had Melissa and Doug products before so my expectations were high. I was not disappointed… a sturdy stall with lots of containers for fruit and vegetables. The instructions were straightforward and it will stand up to lots of vigorous playtimes. I loved the fact that it could have two uses and can imagine the children using the lemonade stand in the hot weather when their friends are over to play. Very pleased with this.
As mentioned in another review on here, once built from its flat-pack arrival, the grocery store is very sturdy – and while it’s not cheap, for its size and the many years of play it will service, I reckon this is a good investment. I particularly like the little blackboards attached to each bucket on the store front: as kids take to numbers, you’ll be able to write prices up and test their adding skills.
There’s a fair bit of construction to do. Nothing complicated, just a lot of bolts to slot in and secure. And my only criticism is that some of the drilled holes weren’t aligned, and the bolts provided are soft, to the extent that they began to strip as we worked the misaligned holes and bolts together. That said, once its built, it really will survive any amount of rough and tumble.
Note to parents: the store doesn’t come with any of the fruit shown in the picture, so be prepared to buy some separates. However, if you shop around there are some cheap wooden groceries, fruit and vegetables to be found online.
All in all, a great plaything. I wish I’d had one of these when I was a kid.
It comes packed in a huge cardboard box (which Amazon ships wrapped in a heavy-duty plastic bag and packing tape. Assembly is easy enough, and after a few minutes you have yourself a shop all ready to play with. As you’ll have seen from the photos, the stall is a grocery store and lemonade stand, the change from one to the other made by flipping around the awning.
The only thing it’s missing is some stock. Your child will need something to put in those trays to sell, (unless of course you want it to be a play Soviet-era shop). A bag of play fruit and veg would be a great thing to include in the set, but alas it isn’t. However, Melissa & Doug do make sets of play groceries and fruit, complete with shopping baskets.
As for play it’s probably not a lot of fun for just one child playing alone. It really needs a child playing with grown-up or, even better, with other children. Gosh, once two of three children get playing at storekeepers and customers, they are happy for hours, and there is almost nothing to break. What we weren’t expecting is that, to a child, it could be a post office, garage, doctor’s surgery, puppet show stage and goodness know what else, too, regardless of the signage.
It’s certainly a large toy, but its size is mostly vertical — it doesn’t take up much floor space. And it’s such a sold thing that, when you’re child has grown out of it, it will surely have pretty good resale value.

It builds well, simple and quick but helps to have two of you.looks real and is full of bright colours so any child would love to use their imagination to play with this.swops to be two different stands but if your child is anything like mine they will use it for much more. Ours has been food stalls, fast food standd and even a post office. My only regret is that it didnt come with any fruit or goods to sell but at least this way your child will use everything from around the house and their imagination to make this gorgeous toy unique. Good strong quality and worth an investment. My daughter adores her new business !
My daughters, aged 4 and 5, love this. It’s great for their imagination. The chalk boards attached to each box are great for encouraging them to try to spell words. They are already planning to make cupcakes and lemonade to ‘sell’ in their shop. Great for teaching them the value of money too.
I was a bit puzzled by the young gentlemen selling “frozen” vegetables on his counter, but that aside this solid unit has a lot of versatility to offer. Even when your children grow out of using it, it should be good enough to pass on, or you could recycle it as a storage unit.
The potential for play and learning is obvious, particularly in a playgroup. I especially like that it is a toy that promotes child interaction.
No problems at all to assemble.
Very nice, well-made product! It would be fun if it came with a few toys to start up with but otherwise it is a very good buy for imaginative play!
