Mini Projector, AKIYO Portable Projector with Projector Stand 1080P Full HD Supported, 55000 Hours LED Home Video Projector Support 20° Keystone & Zoom, Compatible with HDMI USB Smartphone TV Stick PC
I’m not going to tell you what’s in the box – the description tells you. Instead I’ll tell you that it’s a great kit for the price currently 48 including vouchers. The picture quality is very good but certainly no where near 4k. Sound is poor tbh. Portability is great. Well made.
This is a fantastic mini projector which we use usually inside our house and the kids love it. We will definitely take it with us to our holiday abroad in a month time as it’s so tiny that it will fit into any bag. To be honest I didn’t have high expectations but it works so well!!!
This mini projector doesn’t have excellent specifications as it has only 5000 lumens and only supports 1080P, but it is perfectly good for my needs. It is much better than I’ve expected it to be.
Arrived with projector stand, power cable, remote controller and user guide.
The measurements are exactly as per listing description, it is very light and portable.
It looks and feels well made from a good quality plastic, sturdy and durable.
It was very easy and fast to stream on it from my mobile phone.
I had problems with streaming through my previous projector, so I’m very impressed with this one.
Despite not the best specification the quality of the picture is really good. I didn’t notice much difference between this and 4K projection.
I have 100″ screen, so I’ve made about 80″ big projection on it and I was really impressed with the picture quality. Colours are very nice, could be a bit brighter, but it isn’t an issue when surrounding is very dark.
Sound quality is OK, could be better, but can’t complaint for the price and the size.
It should work for at least 55000 hours as it is LED video projector.
I like that it has zoom and is compatible with HDMI, USB, smartphone, TV stick PC etc.
Very good value for money, especially at the time of writing this statement. Regular price 65.99 is reduced to 59.99 and with 30% discount voucher it takes it down to about 42.
It works quietly and is energy efficient.
After reading specifications I wasn’t expecting much from it, but now I’m really impressed.
I had better projectors much more expensive, but this one is more than enough for the home cinema and is very reasonably priced, so I would happily recommend it.
I’ve had several larger projectors but never a ‘mini’ one like this. First impressions straight out of the box are that it is indeed very small and therefore very portable but this doesn’t seem to affect the image quality too much which seems good so far (if not super high quality).
The unit comes with all the usual bits and bobs including the generic remote which is OK but this one also has the addition of a tripod to raise up the unit. To be honest this doesn’t seem the sturdiest so I’m not sure I’ll trust it and as previously I’ll probably just place the unit on top of a box or stack of books. This brings me to the next point. To get the correct positioning the unit needs to be next to, or in front of where you’re sitting (larger units are usually placed behind you). This is fine but bear in mind you’ll probably hear a lot more of the fan noise (which actually isn’t that loud) and you’ll need to consider this when thinking of positioning.
Regarding settings etc it seems pretty standard with keystone and focus and all seem good for the sub-100 price tag – and that’s really the key here – it’s hard to complain about a projector that is this price as long as the picture is half decent (which it is) and it has the usual settings you’d expect from a more expensive model (which it has).
I won’t bore you will lengthy descriptions of pixels/functionality/brightness – you can get all that from the listing, but over all I didn’t have a bad experience with this and you can’t really expect more at this price point (I will say it’s not the brightest and you’ll need to use it in a completely dark room). If you want a cinema quality high spec home theatre experience then you should be paying a lot more for an actual known brand and you won’t find that here but if you want a basic unit for an affordable price this is for you.
I reviewed this as part of Vine and admit I probably wouldn’t have bought a projector this cheap but if you’re on a budget it should be fine just don’t expect the moon on a stick!
Super versatile projector, small but bursting with exciting possiibilities, compatible with your TV, Laptop, Television, USB, PC Monitor, HDMI, Smartphone. Take it outdoors and create one of those Summer Cinema Spectaculars, copyright issues not withstanding. Very reasonably priced, cannot fault in any way.
Wonderful picture overall and easy to adjust but also quite limited in applications.
Firstly remote control which is great but seems to be lacking the usb option when options come up.
I had trouble attaching my phone but turns out it needs a wireless dongle unfortunately I haven’t been able to find one that is above 2 stars.
I initially bought a HDMI to usb c cable but that didn’t work.
Xbox comes on great which is guid.
As does DVD player and( as in picture ) laptop.
The picture is actually very good and the size of screen is immense if you have it far away. We had to bring it forward to fit our 90″ screen ( I know!)
So it comes with a tripod but it isn’t great, it is kind of off centre making it difficult to balance. Ends up frustrating!
The sound level is really low and pretty useless to watch a movie with it on.
For limited uses and low volume I’m afraid I wouldn’t buy again.

SELLER CONTACTED ME IN REGARDS TO MY EXPERIENCE AND HAVE OFFERED A REPLACEMENT. I HAVE ADDED AN EXTRA STAR FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE WHICH HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING! THANK YOU FOR THAT.
This is a cute little projector, small enough to take anywhere with you. It is simple to set up and operate. So far, I have only used it to watch a couple of films with a Firestick. This was at night, in a darkened room on a white wall. The picture quality was decent, but obviously not as sharp as it would be on a television, and the sound was acceptable, although I may well connect it to an external speaker system going forward. I found it was not really practical to use during daylight hours, but this budget priced projector will be good for taking away on holidays and keeping the kids entertained with film nights.
I was a little trepidatious when I chose to review the AKIYO Portable Projector. I wasn’t sure what to expect from such an affordable projector. When it arrives the contents of the box further surprised me – the projector feels small (and it is – 13.6 x 11 x 5.8cm) and its weights less than a kilo. The surprises are the box includes a remote for controlling the projector; and a tripod for supporting it (Though the body of the projector has a foot too) finally you get a transformer plug with a meter or so of power cable. Batteries aren’t included for the remote though.
The real surprise was when I plugged the transformer into a socket and powered the projector on. The experience of watching a moving on the projector is far superior to watching on a laptop. For the price I was expecting a fairly dark image that needed a blacked out room; powering it on and seeing the menu bright on the wall was a real surprise. After a bit of playing with the throw; I found that a 1.5m screen is about as sharp as it gets – and that sending 720p to the projector rather than 1080p resulted in a better image. The focus wheel helps get the picture sharper- which is useful if you move the projector around.
If there isn’t direct sunlight you can likely use the projector in the room. You can see a couple photos I took of the projector running on a wall ( rather than my projector screen.) The image is pretty sharp in the centre though it falls off a bit to the corners – though as you can see the text is readable to the edge. Though remember this is a 720p projector in a world of 4k.
The video input is via HDMI and streaming from my MacBook and iPad both connect and play videos just fine. On the first night I watched one of the many James Bond films on Amazon Prime. With the out of the box settings James looked a bit pale; with the remote you can dial in the colour and contrast settings to get a better picture; even when using a white wall. The built in speakers are mostly drowned out by the fan – though using headphones or the speakers on your laptop gave me working sound. The projector made watching the film far more enjoyable than watching it on a 13″ laptop screen.
The side of the projector has a keystone adjustment; which adjusts for the projector not being perpendicular to the wall; this works well. The projector doesn’t have a trapezoidal adjustment so you do need to get it parallel to the wall to keep the picture rectangular. To help with that the tripod comes with a fairly useless tripod; but you can use another tripod you may have; and the thread in the tripod would work with a ceiling mount. (The software supports rotating the image if you want to ceiling mount it.)
The compact size and light weight of the the projector make it easy to move it around; it would be a great device to take on vacation to watch content on the go. It also makes video games more of an event. It isnt giving you a perfect picture; at the price though you are getting far more than I expected it would deliver. Watching a film is far more enjoyable than a laptop or tablet screen.
My word this is brilliant. It can be moved all round the house/even taken on holiday due to the compact size. It’s super clear and crisp, easy to use and looks great. The kids love movie night now and gives us all some family time away from phones. Would definitely recommend.

The projector came well packaged in a printed cardboard box.
This projector is a small device but very well made. It is lightweight and very easy to setup. The projector connects to a laptop or PC via the HDMI Connector on the back, and a HDMI lead is provided for the purpose. Also on the back of the projector is a USB port so you can put a memory stick directly into the projector to show Powerpoint Files or to watch movies. Also on the back is a headphone port and AV port for connecting external speakers.
The projector operates via a remote control or via the arrow controls on the top. It is very easy to use the menu that appears when switching on the projector to access the movies, files etc from a laptop or on a usb stick. On the side of the projector is a good focus button and a keystone control to create a rectangular picture. The picture quality is very good, there does appear to be a slight loss in colour from the original but it is not that noticeable when in use and the colours can be altered via the settings if this becomes an issue. The device like all projectors does get slightly warm.
On the bottom of the projector is a connector to insert the tripod. This is the only part of this projector that I do not really like as the tripod is not very central to the base and I found on a few occasions that it did tip up on use as it was not that stable, as it seems lopsided and then unbalances the projector. I think this part could have been better designed and now I use it without the tripod.
This device is great if like me you now watch more movies at home but like watching them on a large screen. You can now do this from the comfort of your own living room. It is also very useful for teaching and training purposes, with displaying Powerpoint files or utube clips.
I have been really happy with this little projector, I have removed a star for the tripod issue, which is a problem, but then most other projectors do not come with a tripod anyway. A slight improvement for the supplier might be to provide a small case to store the projector in for carrying around or just storage to keep it clean and dust free.
Being contrary, I spent a lot of years working in schools and broadcast tech without sharing the industry’s early adopter gadget joy, but I’m starting to think I was just born too early, because this mini projector from Akiyo rocked me back on my heels and put a big grin on my face. THIS is what living in the future was supposed to be like!
It’s unusual for claims in product descriptions to be absolutely true, but I was blown away that this mini projector lives up to the “small as two cans of pop” hype. It’s the size of a cheap alarm clock. It’s TINY. But its image and “throw” knock most of the stuff I used to set up — great energy-burning lumps as big as a microwave oven — into a cocked hat.
The package includes a power supply, an IR remote, an HDMI cable and and a tiny tripod.
It runs a bit hot for something that draws low 3W DC power, but the fan’s pretty quiet.
The image is crisp and detailed, the colours are as accurate as my eyes can judge. There are some technical hoops to jump through thanks to its “native” resolution. The picture the projector creates, left to its own devices, is 1920×720, which ISN’T HD. It’s as wide as, but only two thirds as high as, “proper” HD, and it isn’t the same shape as your TV.
The product description fudges the idea that there’s 1080p capability. There isn’t. If you have a 1080p video, it’s partly but smoothly “down-scaled”.
Playback of movies from a USB stick works great, so long as the stick and the movie are formatted right. No x265 compression, no exFAT.
I plugged our Chromecast in the HDMI, which the projector seemed to auto-sense, and shared video from my phone. It coped with every video resolution up to 1080, changing ratio on the fly for every video I tried from 4:3 to 16:9 to full widescreen. I got a 4:3 image as tall as the door and in focus.
The built-in speaker is quite pokey. If you’re alone in a quiet room and on top of the projector it isn’t hi-fi but it’ll do. You’ll need another sound source, especially if there are other humans around. The headphone/aux 3.5 mm output is a good reason to de-mothball those old PC speakers you couldn’t bring yourself to throw away. If you’re using a computer or phone as the video source into the HDMI, you can probably Bluetooth to something or get an HMDI audio splitter (which’ll be another powered device). I’ll be looking for a 3.5 mm aux jack USB chargeable Bluetooth transmitter (or transmitter-receiver).
It’s lightweight, it’s well made, it’s smartly and sensibly packaged, and for 59.99 at time of review it’s priced ridiculously low.
I was surprised how easy this was to set up – I connected my laptop to the projector via the HDMI cable that it comes with and once you turn it on, you just select the language you want and then what you want to show and how (e.g. HDMI, picture etc) by using the buttons on top.
In the box, you get the projector, tripod, power cable, HDMI cable, controller (without batteries) and a manual. The connections on the back are used for the power cable, headphones, HDMI, AV and USB. It’s a little noisy when nothing is playing, but I couldn’t hear it when something was on.
This would be great to keep kids amused with their favourite shows or a movie night. You do need a decent amount of wall/screen space to project onto, but it’s a great piece of kit and it’s compact too.
There were 2 issues I found with this projector, the tripod was really fiddly and the projector gets very hot very quickly. I tested this in my office with some Linkin Park music videos and it was very warm, so I do wonder how it would cope with a full-length film.
It’s such a fun way to watch things rather than on the TV, so I think it’s a good buy!
Smaller than imagined, at about the dimensions of a paperback thriller, this little projector packs a punch. I’m an art teacher and we use fixed projectors to enlarge and trace images. With moves to large screen technology, this gadget makes the perfect replacement at a great price. I include photos showing the projection from my MacBook onto a lilac coloured wall.
Pros:
Size
Portability
Focus and keystone adjustment
Colour and vibrancy
Smooth image (most projectors break the image into squares)
Video plays well
Has speakers
Easy connectivity (box includes standard HDMI) – I used my own HDMI to lightening. It also connects to iPad or iPhone with a compatible cable
Also offers USB connectivity
Comes with remote control
Includes adjustable tripod
Great for the price
Quick to set up – I could use this in lectures and interviews avoiding unknown technical issues
Cons:
Transformer becomes very warm!
Keystone adjustment loses focus around edges – I discovered that it’s best to use as little as possible.
Remote control requires batteries (AAA)
Sound is quite tinny, while still impressive for the size.
Generally, an amazing little gadget.
Just what I was looking for!
We love this projector! The size of this projector is beyond perfect. Having two small kids, this can be set up almost anywhere! With the option to use a power bank as well as the multiple media options, this has been one of my best purchases. You don’t need to be outside to have an adventure, and this projector helps keep things just unique enough while being stuck in the house. It’s great for just viewing on a plain wall or screen, but we’ve also found great use inside pillow/blanket forts and even doing family movie night on the ceiling! It can pack away in literally any backpack for storage or for taking on the go. The simple change-up from a normal tv or computer has gotten my toddlers excited again to do more educational videos and activities. This projector is wildly easy to use, even for those who aren’t exactly tech-savvy. Setup took only a minute or so, and while you may need to get adapters to use phones properly, it is well worth it for the experience you get and the price of the item itself. I would recommend it!
This is a great little projector for the price, it’s as small as the listing suggests which blew me away because the quality is surprising.
I will add i don’t belive it’s 1080p as suggested, it looks a little downscaled to me. More like 720p.
The fan’s pretty quiet, especially for a projector but it does get quite hot. Something to note.
The sound quality could be improved upon so i’d suggest using an alternative source.
That been said this is a fantastic projector for the price, it’s lightweight with good picture quality and well built. I would recommend this.

For the price it is not a bad projector at all.
I hope you like my review. Thanks
It is a good quality projector. Mini and clear. The non likeable part is the stand, which is fibble. In general, its a nice projector worth having.
