Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have used Roland products of various types for years including synthesizers, digital workstations and they never disappoint. This keyboard is way less expensive than most Roland items I have bought so my expectations were not super high. How wrong I was.

The sound libraries are vast with the most amazing mix of modern and retro sounds. The rhythms and auto generators are awesome. The in built speakers are pretty good. But hook up to headphones or through an amp and the Roland sounds are mind blowing good.

Physically the keyboard is sturdy and the individual touch sensitive keys have a piano like natural resistance that makes this a dream to play.

Bluetooth for jamming with your favourite songs is fab. The facility to record compositions is simply awesome.I

    I am delighted.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersIt’s a decent keyboard. Clearly, they dumbed down this keyboard so that their higher priced options would look more attractive.

For example, there is no dedicated metronome, when clearly the keyboard has that capability. You can get around this by using Loop Mix, selecting the least annoying and steady drums, and adjusting the tempo in settings.

Would it also kill them to implement a simple loop function? What it has is a recording function, but not way to loop that recording. Let’s say you want to record a simple four chord progression, loop it, and improvise over it. You can’t. You can record, yes, but you can’t loop it. It ends, and you have to press the play button again to make it play. Breaks immersion immediately.

The positives are that the keys and sounds are decent (thought I would have liked more piano sounds) and it is light and portable.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersSome reviews have come from people who have not understood what to expect from this instrument. I have owned and played a wide range of keyboards, midi controllers and acoustic pianos for 20 years. Check out my list of pros and cons to decide if this is right for you.

    PROS:

    1. This is a beautiful, sleekly designed instrument. It will really light up your room or band with its looks! There are no buttons and nobs sticking out, it is all one flat surface and this is really smooth. Like me, if you don’t want your instrument to look like a plane’s cockpit, but prefer something minimal, you will love this.

    2. The sounds are great for the price range. It is not just a beginners keyboard, when you are ready to go out playing gigs you can surely take this along! BUT YOU WILL NOT HEAR THIS RICH SOUND OUT OF THE BOX. Due to the slim design, you get small 2.5W X2 speakers that cannot do full justice. The other reviews that say the sound is too low or poor have judged it this way. But that is not the way to go. The built in speakers are only to make things easy during travel and practice; use headphones, or an amp or good speakers to feel its full bang. Many great keyboards come with no speakers at all.

    3. The lightweight and the small size make it easy to carry around. You can play this on your lap!

    CONS:

    1. Given the minimal approach, to change a setting or instrument, you need to press many keys. So if you like to change many things while performing you may not be able to do it in time. If you want to make a track by recording many parts one above the other it could get long-winding involving many keypresses. Even for this basic instrument, this could have been better.

    2. The loop mix is fun to use, it has a large variety of rhythm patterns. But you cannot change the chords and the loop-mix patterns together. This could have lead to so many more possibilities.

    3. Most of the loop mixes sound thumping and upbeat. The variety could have been more here. Say a swinging blues groove, a 6/8 and something light and acoustic.

MY OPINION: I feel keeping the minimal design Roland could have given more power to the user. For eg, the 10 touch pads could be switched to 10 digits while picking instruments. Or you might as well throw in a full touch screen, these days even cheap phones have them. Some control could be delegated to a connected mobile app.

    CONCLUSION:
This is an extraordinary instrument and I look forward to playing it everyday. If you like to change a lot of settings and do detailed arrangements, this is not the instrument for you. If you want a simple and beautiful instrument that gives you rich sounds at an affordable price, then I don’t think you will find anything better.

Conforme mes attentes. Touches aspect piano mat, semi lestes.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThis is a professional instrument and definitely not a toy. It is not quite a synth but more complex than a basic keyboard. The keys have a reasuring feel and it is easy to select the sound you want, which includes a range of synth and special effects including drums and arpeggios. It is very capable and for the times you just want to play it like a piano, it does that too. You get 5 octaves and that puts it into pianist territory. The sound from the speakers is really good. After all, this is a Roland.

Believe it, or not I have most of the top keyboards ever made, yet I bought this cheap one. That is because I wanted to practice by my PC, and a big, expensive keyboard is not easy to move around in your living room. So this fits under my desk, and can be pulled out to practice with. What is also surprising about this keyboard is the quality of the keys which have been made to look, and feel like ivory keys. Even my top keyboards don’t have this quality keys.

Golden Review Award: 20 From Our UsersEs un teclado de 10.

The Roland Go:Keys is such a superb keyboard for the price. It has a lot of sounds, and they sound great. The piano sounds are amazingly good – even through the small speakers – amazing! Only a couple of years ago, piano sounds of this quality would have cost twice as much. The keys are very nice. They are full-size keys, but not piano weighted. They are halfway between synth action keys and piano weighted keys. The Go:Keys comes with only half its sounds enabled – you have to turn on the GM sounds in the menu to hear all the sounds. There is also a black version called Go:Piano. Apparently that has fewer sounds, and the piano sounds it has are exactly the same as the piano sounds in the Go:Keys. So I am not quite sure why anyone would buy the Go:Piano instead of the Go:Keys. For the money, the Roland Go:Keys is very hard to beat.

Golden Review Award: 9 From Our UsersKeys have a mat finish so they feel better than the average cheap portable keyboard. The sounds are adequate for my requirements and being able to run on a few AA’s is a definite bonus. The on board speakers do a decent job for something that can run on batteries too (don’t expect Clavinova sound quality but its fine for lap use!).
I toyed with the idea of getting to GO PIANO as well, but I am glad I went for the KEYS in the end as it’s piano sounds are pretty good and it offers quite a bit more with the onboard sounds (over 500 including the GM bank).
The Casio CT S300 was the other contender for me – but the Roland has a slightly smaller footprint and the sounds are just a little better.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’ve been playing piano for around 30 years and wanted something portable and also for gigging. I wanted a piano that had lots of good quality voices for a covers band. This keyboard is small but packed with great sounds and functionality. I purchased with a pedal to add sustain. The keys aren’t Hammer/weighted but the are coated with a nice ivory feel and are responsive. For the price, it’s a great bargain and fantastic fun whether an experienced player or a beginner.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersExcellent keyboard, in one of the reviews it states that only one Bluetooth identity can be connected at a time . This isn’t my experience, using an iPad with it, both Bluetooth audio and Bluetooth midi connect simultaneously . This makes it a wonderfull wireless tool for learning with Simply Piano. The SP note identification works accurately, latency free, over the Bluetooth midi and the playback comes through the keyboard speakers.
One small point to note is that the iPad remembers the bt audio connection but you have to go in and click connect on the Bluetooth midi connection in settings when starting your daily practise session.

Buon divertimento. Ciao!

I like Roland keyboards, and liked this one. The sounds are pretty decent, and you get a huge variety of them to suit all styles. It runs on batteries and has built in speakers so is great if you want something to noodle around with on your lap, or to take easily to practices etc.. However, I ended up sending my one back for a refund – I’ve probably been spoiled by playing more high end keyboards and found the GO-61k just didn’t feel right for me.

Golden Review Award: 23 From Our UsersWhat a superb keyboard.
I am trying to learn guitar and my teacher said to get a keyboard to be able to visualise the chords and notes, as they are easier to see on a piano keyboard.
I didn’t want to spend a lot so I looked at loads of different makes and they all had a few iffy reviews.
This Roland got positives all round.
I use Boss pedals and amps, which is part of the Roland Brand, and they have always been excellent so I was attracted because of the name anyway.
When I tried it I could see why. If I was learning piano this is the one I would want, and now I have one I think I will take up learning the piano because this such a joy to play and listen too.
My Android phone connected immediately, but wouldn’t work. A scour through the very poorly written instructions showed that the keyboard has two bluetooth identities. One called Go:Midi, and another called Go:Audio. Go:Midi is for transferring Midi files to a computer, Go:Audio is for playing music from a phone or pad. You can only connect one identity at a time.
Once that was sorted I was soon playing some chords along to Ava Maria from my mobile phone.
The little speakers are adequate for the narrow range of sounds typical from a portable keyboard, but once I plugged it into my guitar amp with double twelves, wow.
You could gig with this without any doubt, and it would look professional on a stage as well. The range of sounds and options can cover any type of music, and they all sounded great to my ears.
My daughter plays piano and she likes the key weights on light. I didn’t know what she was talking about but went through the settings, and sure enough there are key weight settings so that a soft press gives soft notes and a hard press gives loud notes, brilliant.
There was also a setting so that a single note played with one hand would turn of the notes played by the other so that chords wouldn’t swamp single notes. I have no idea what that setting is called, but found it very useful.
As a complete novice I found this keyboard intuitive, fully loaded, and I learned more about music and keyboards in one day than I ever imagined I could.
The value for money I found astonishing.
Delivery from Amazon was the usual swiftness, in fact, two days early, so I got to indulge ahead of time. Lovely.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersIve had this keyboard for a couple of weeks now and im pretty much addicted. It feels great to play. Build quality is pretty solid and the sounds are good quality and have a real depth and weight to them. One thing i would recommend to anyone who has this keyboard is make sure you go to the settings and enable “GM2 TONE”. Not sure why but its set to off by default. Turning it on gives you a lot more sounds (almost double). Some seem like more basic versions of the default sounds but others are unique and otherwise completely absent by default for example the harpsichord and woodwind instruments. Anyway this is a great keyboard and im very happy with it.
